1. Introduction: Hi. Welcome to my mock ups in minutes class. I'm a freelance textile and surface designer from the UK on a mocha Paddick. I love preparing markups on my social media posts on. Enjoy seeing my artwork come to life in governments and other objects. Now, almost every time I post something on Instagram, it's a mark. Mark Ups are very great toe visualize in your artwork on real things on a lot of fun to make once you know how to do one. But I don't like spending loads of time of grating just one unless it's for my portfolio. This was something that really put me off, starting for a long time, as I watched editorial after editorial, showing a myriad off techniques that just took a long time. So I created this class so you could learn how to get you more cups done in minutes and not ours. This glass is suitable for complete beginners with a little experience of photo shop. With this tutorial, you want land all the tools available in front the shop to do markup. But if you pick up the right images to begin with, you will see that we've might quick workflow do. You won't have to spend too much time to get good enough results. I provide all the artwork I used during the market tutorials as a free download, as well as the royalty free photos so you can follow step by step. What I'm doing well do for more cups. One won t shirt, one blacktop, one white dress on one off like dress. During each tutorial, you'll see me showing different things that you can incorporate to your workflow when creating market. I also provide you with an overview of all the tools and trunk cuts. You'll see me using Photoshopped. So if you're a less experience photo shop user, you're not gonna freak up. So if you're ready, let's get going. I must warn you that this could be your new addiction. 2. Getting Started: So before we get started in this video, I want to cover the basics of how working Photoshopped a great more cups so you can familiarize yourself with my workflow before you going to try more cups yourself. If you're not familiar with most of them, don't worry. By the end of the class, you could be we're going to be using the zoom tool or not. You can press gazette for the zoom tool onto mean on out by moving your castle like this. If you have an object, press V for the move tool to select it. You can also press control, plus on minus to zoom in a napped. Once we're super thin, we compress the hum to Joe. Cut is H or you compress the space pod to move the image around. Press be for the brush tool, and you can increase the size of the brush to with the right and left brackets on your keyboard right to increase left to decrease the size. Also, we're going to need black and white as our colors to set our palette to black and white users. After press city on X two local between black and white between your foreground and background color. I've included the Pathan artwork I created for this class in the resources section off the class on skill shirt so you can download it. It's a zip file, and you can open infertile shop. What you want to do is open the repeat pile provided for this class in photo shop, and you want to save it to your patterns. Like great to do that. You going to edit Andi behind Patton? Okay, then make sure that you have your layers panel open. We don't press F seven or go into windows layers. And to find the pattern that you just saved, you could going to create new Phil or Adjustment Layer and then Patton on the last button that you say should come up if it doesn't click on this town hierarchy and select your bottom. The good thing about this method is that it allows you to quickly modify the scale of your button so I could decrease it. I can manually are just a sizing as well, in this way, on. The other thing is that with the move tool breastfeed. If you don't have it selected, you can moved your pattern around like this so you can make smaller big adjustments even after the button has been placed on your mark up. Now I want to show you what you would pay if you're using at work that is not in. Repeat. For example, I have this design that is not a repeat tile. Andi, this is my mock up. As you can see, I have already isolated the area that I want to be mocked up. So there's two ways you can do this or you could going to file place embedded or place in older versions Are photo shop located your file. Then you open it below your mock up layup and then all you have to this just just a sizing if you need it. Oh, you could just drug on drop. You can see this is pretty big. So I have Teoh so I can transform the scale off the artwork because you can also drag and drop the outward from its location on again at just the right skill. Now, let me quickly tell you what a layer mask is. In case you're not familiar with this, the way layer masks work is as follows. I have a circle right here and I'm going toe Adlai a mosque. Do it. As you can see, I get disappearing on the layer on its frame, so it means that it is active. If I they bring my brush toe press p and with black selected on top, I can. He raised away. But I'm not really raising unmasking on. As you can see, What I've just done appears on the mosque in layer. From now, I'm not a raising because it's a muscular layer. So if I switch from black to white press checks to switch to white foreground color, I can bring back what I just must. So this is the whole idea behind, Lame asks. You can must worry raise things in a non destructive way. The way we're going to be working or three out of four off the mo cap tutorials is with invest selection. So what do I mean? What we're going to do is select our object. In this case, it's our circle impressing w for my objects selection, too, and I'm growing Teoh trace around that to select it. If I think going to select, invest and then up a layer mask. As you can see, the circle is now in black in a layer mask from now. So now I go Teoh brush. I got my their mask criminal selected on with White as foreground color. I'm doing the opposite of what I was doing before and with black, um, masking or hiding pixels. These are the other things that you'll see me. They throughout this class. Other things that were going to be covering in this class are the button fell layer, which I have already showed you adding a colorful layer solid color, combating a layer into a smart object. To do that, select the layer that you want to work on. Right click on it on select Convert to Smart Object. This allows us to, for example, at filters to our pattern filia. Who can going to filter blood because you're black? And then we can edit the effect by clicking on guardian blur again. We could also add adjustments. So, for example, brightness than contrast can make our Parton brighter with more or less contrast. In this way, the adjustment layer needs to be on top off the layer that you want to modify something else that you will be using in every mock up is layer blending modes, and you're going to be applying these to the pattern fills. So here's my pattern, and it has multiplied by a blending. But you can adjust that by clicking here. This is what the normal layer would be. It's very flat as it is. The multiply is the standard. They are blending mode that we're going to be using for buttons that are going to be mocked that on light, all white background colors. So there are two sets of tools that come with for the shop that can be used for grating more cups. I'm going to look at the first set, which is here. You got the lasso tool, which allows you to do freehand selections polygonal lasso to on the magnetic lasso tool. So let's try the last to first. You can see this is the least accurate method we're going to be. Select control, be on, have a girl with the polygonal last off to what this allows it is to click on select then so you can be quite accurate making a selection. I'm pressing the space bar to move around the image. But this is quite time consuming, and, depending on the complexity off your image could take you quite a lot of time. Another possibility is the magnetic lasso tool. This will allow you to draw around a selection much faster. And, as you can see it, detecting picks off off a similar fight. So you collect every time you're changing direction and let the to go. It's think, as he going up the magic want to with group pixels off a similar value. And you can specify what that is by changing the tolerance. And in our case, we want it to be Kontic use. So let's give it a go with tolerance of 40 until Elias and Contiguous clicked somewhere on the top. And as you conceive, it has done a pretty good job, although in this case the hair is quite similar color, so we would have to isolate that area. The quick selection tool gives you a little bit more control, lets loose sleep, draw around and thought and see what happens because you can see this and hasn't really done a very good job. So my selection tool of choice is the object selection tool. Gonna give you a quick demo, Have that wax. I'm really not tracing here, actually on under any really fast. And yet it's on a pretty good job. So only know, if you have the latest fashion or photo shop, I would say definitely go for the object selection tool on. If not, I think the magnetic lasso tool will do the job best. I'm on PC. So on a mac, Every time I say control, you will be using command and when they told it will be the option key. And there may be other slight differences, but you should be able to follow this class just fine on any computer or any vaginal photo shop. 3. Mockup 1: so the first thing to get started on this small company is to duplicate on I am. I used the control J shortcut and I'm going to unlock the layup that we name it original. You don't have to do this, but I'll do this for the purpose of this tutorial. To make it clear, I'm calling the other layout markup on hiding original layouts. We don't need it now. Then we're going to choose the selection tool. I go for the object selection Talk show you loosely trace around the P shut the area that we want to walk up. You can see I'm not being too accurate, and then we want it to mean control, plus on your keyboard. Onda Pressing the Shift G We can add more pixels to their selection. - If I have an area that I want to remove any pick so sad, I want showing I click on option or off key. Next, we need to go to select on, choose inverse and then lay a mask. This will reveal the area that we have just taken up to want to press be for the brush door , make sure that we have black as foreground color Press extra toggle between black and white if you needed. I'm going to go loosely around hair and other areas that I want to hide. I increase in decreased the size of my brush tool with the left and right rockets on the people way. If I make a mistake all after there is a struggle between the background foreground color by pressing X to quickly add or remove pixels. Next, we're going Teoh at the colorful, layered, and I'm gonna change the color too bright red and zoom in so I can see what other pixels I missed up. But showing your your mock up layer is selected. Go back to the brush to justice. Size is needed, filling the areas where you need to again. I'm working here, quite Lucy, as this image will only be on no resolution imaged to be this played online. - When that's done, we can go ahead on the leak car Color Philia to suppress the leak on the people and then inside a pattern. Phil Layup lower market player. Change the scale as needed. Press OK and then change the color blend mode off the layup from normal to multiply to be able to see the effect within need to click on revealed the original layer to see the finished way. Have Teoh save the file so we're going to file export Safer Web legacy. I have it set that's very high. J pick and then changing the with off the image size to 700 pixels is a manageable size for social media and then click save where you like the father to be. 4. Mockup 2: the first thing we're going to do is unlock a layer on that rename it if we want to. Duplicated control J is the short cut and hide the original. Then we pressed W for the objects like toe trace over the selection that we want zooming, check our with doing and then with the shift key at any areas that have not been captured. Next we're going to go to select on invest and then a layer mask. Do you mean again to check for missed anything on press beef with brush tool with black as foreground color to remove any pixels. If we make any mistakes, we can toggle between black and white. White will reveal pixels on black will hide pixels. Then what we want is underneath our layer mask. Add a pattern. Feel Onda. Just the scale of the pattern. Theun, we're going Teoh, change the blending mode off our pattern layer from normal to exclusion on check the result . Next thing we could do is at Smart Filter to make the pattern of moralistic. To do this, we need to turn our batter layer into a smart object, right click back to smart object and then going to filter, blur and then caution blood and then selected value that you like. I usually work between 0.5 and one pixels, and this is just an optional step on. The last step is Teoh. Save our file by going to file export Safer work legacy on just a bit off Jay Peak, 700 pixels and then safe. 5. Mockup 3: So I asked before we're going to rename on Layer called Original on Duplicated press Control. Jake to duplicate, rename our other Leia mock up on hide Original Layer. Then we're going to press W for the object selection tool and trace over our dress as you can see him doing quite loose job of this, assuming to check the result, and I can see that the straps have not been selected. So I'm going to try to select one pressing the shift key tracing over the strap. Unfortunately, photo shop is not able to use the pixels on the image, but it's done a good job off the other strike, but we can adjust this in a moment. Next, we're going to go select, invest and then click on layer mask Way Press be for the brush tool. We need to have black as our foreground color so that we can remove pixels. I'm changing the size of my brush by pressing control, plus or minus on the keyboard. I make a mistake, and I feel it too many pixels. All I have to do is struggle between my foreground and background color, and with white, I can bring back the pixels for this area of the hand, I'm increasing my brush size that I'm using a soft ground brush with 100% opacity and flow . I'm going over this quite quickly so I can refine it later. If there's any straight pixels leftover, we're going to be able to see them in the next step, when we are a colorful layup way like the original layers so we can put a colorful layer on top, and I'm changing the color to red so that I could see all the straight pixels that I need to delete. Make sure I've got my mock up layers selected and my black color in the foreground so that I can go ahead on delete all the straight picks offs next week and go ahead under lead our colorful, layered, pressing delete on people on. We're going to put our pattern filet up below our mock, a player change scale on, then a blending mode to multiply to me to check the results. Next, select harmonica player and with a brush to and white in the foreground, we can go over the buttons to delete pattern, the pattern that are showing above the buttons. Theun, we're going to right click on a pattern layer and converted into a smart object so that we can add a Kocian laughed. We got filter play caution flag, and I'm using a radius off one pixel we contest how this legs by removing the player on enough on the last step, is to select my blood, too. I'm using mode normal strength 100% and I'm going off the edge off address on wherever the pattern matches the rest off the photograph, and then I'm going take select my pattern feel layer and add an adjustment layer on top. This is for brightness and contrast, and I'm playing around with the levels to see if, if I can make the dress blending more with this photograph once I'm happy with that, all I have to do is safe my picture. We're going to file export safer web, and I usually change the week off my image to 700 pixels 6. Mockup 4: So in this mock up, we're going to these things slightly different. As you can see, we have an image where the dress that we want to mock up, it's not a white color. The difference here is that we're not going to inverse our selection. Instead, we're going to go straight into applying a layer mask after we have selected the dress to mark up. To begin with, we're going to duplicate our layout and rename on layers, press control or command J to duplicate W to select a selection tool and trace loosely around the edges off the dress that we want to mark up, we're going to assume in unchecked what additional areas we need. Teoh bring into the selection, passing the shift key to add on the bulky to remove from the selection. - After that, we're going to click on a layer mask, and as you can see this time, the area outside off our dress is black. On the area that we trace the run, the dress is white, and this means that now black will hide pixels on white will reveal pixels. So to refine the edges of our selection, we're going to pressed be for brush tube, and we're going to be painting off areas in white to reveal them and black to remove them. I'm using a soft ground brush, and I'm adjusting the size off the brush by pressing the right on left bracket keys on the keyboard. The next thing to do is to add a Grady in muck Player on What we want is black to be on the left front side on white to be on the right hand side. So Grady in goes from black to white. We can then click on the Grady, an icon, click on the stop color and then on color to make our dress like that the next we're going . Teoh Drug. The selection from the muck. A player on top of the radiant map on the click. Yes, to replace Layer mask. Once we're happy with that, we're going Teoh work further on refining the edges off the selection of the mock up, um, using the brush tool again with white to reveal on black to hide pixels. I think we're going Teoh. Add a pattern Phil layer on top of our radiant mop adjusting scale, and then we need to clip our Patent Phil layer onto a radiant mark layer to do this repressed old or option on the keyboard whilst hovering the mouse between two layers until you see a down pointing arrow. When you see that you click on, the layer on top will be clipped the layer on the bottom. Then I spent before we changed the blending mode off our patent Phil layer from normal to multiply so that the pattern looks more realistic on the dress. At this moment, it's looking quite bright compared to the rest off the photograph, so we can make some adjustments by clicking again onto the gravy in bump on, adjusting the color as we did before on bringing the color down to attack a gray so that the pattern looks more in keeping with the rest of the photograph. And the last thing is to save the image for the Web. So go to file export safer Web legacy on adjust measurements off the image size I sent to you 700 pixels with and then save your image. Make sure you always keep a copy off the working file as a Photoshopped file, so you can use it as a template and use it to mark up different designs onto the same image 7.
