1. Introduction: Hello and welcome to the minimal title opener in aftereffect. I want to show and teach you a fun workflow where you can prepare an animation like that. We will work with a cool, phoned, proper shape element, key frame and animate them. Reveal them with masks and many, many more things all don't within aftereffect. It's a really fun project. No matter if you are a total beginner or know your way around by the end of this class, you will be able to create this kind of animation on your own from scratch an aftereffect. I sincerely invite you to take the class with me and have some fun designing and roll now, and I'll see you inside. 2. Lecture 1 Track Matting: hello there. Before we started to greet the actual animation, I would like to quickly explain you a few things about the track. Matte, in case you don't know how to use and how to work with it. Hello and welcome to you today. Today we are going to make a really beautiful animation. But before we start, I would like to explain you something essential, which is track matting most off. You most likely know how track meeting works. But for those of you who don't I'll create a new composition. You can click on this button and let's make it may be a six seconds. So we have something to work with and track matting basically allows you to hide or reveal something a different layer in a specific manner. Let me show you how. For example, you have text on the screen like I have here text on the screen. Now, I would like this text to come in from this site and reveal itself slowly, but I'd like something to hide it here. So that's how you can use a track meant Let me to select everything, select an object and make a simple rectangle. Maybe I also use felt Okay, this is a filled rectangle. It's a blue one. Now this text can set its track Matte tau alpha matte this shapely around because you always use the layer above as a track meant. So the layer under it has two options. I can either all format or blue moment. Alfa Matt uses the visibility the ULFA layer off this particular layer. Lou Memet uses its color. So in the loo, Memet, when we select lumet, the text is a little bit visible because the color is blue and it goes from white to black . Black means invisible white means completely visible. So everything is revealed in this color range. Okay, I was like Alfa Matt because where the blue is, the text will be visible. Where the blue isn't, the text will be invisible. Let me select the text. I'll pick the selection tool and look what happens only where the blue screen waas the blue layer only there that Texas revealed You can also select all format inverted and it will just work the other way around on leeward earlier Isn't the text will be visible. Now let me show you the second way the Loomer met. And this will be it for this lesson. I'll select a color. Let me select. Great. In fact, I'll show you this layer. It's blue now, but I will say, like Grady in tramp and perfect. The default settings are black and white. I'll maybe make those colors closer. White, black like that. Okay, now I will select the text and select Loomer. Matt, let me show you Here on the bottom, it was white, so the text is visible. But as I move it further up here, it was black. So black means invisible. So depending on how the color of this layer is set, this layer if you select Lou moment, you'll work with its coloristic. So the so everything on black will be hidden. Everything on white will be revealed That why we had blue, which is a color in between. We had this text and great. It was something about this color. Okay, And that's it. When it comes to the basics off track betting this is only an overlook it and information for you to work with because well, off course use pregnant and track mites are like the bread and butter off this software. You'll very often refer to fragments as you do something, so thank you a lot for listening to those basics and let's no head over and start creating our final animation. 3. Lecture 2 Placing the text: Okay. Hello and welcome in the first lesson. Most likely you have your project ready. Let me delete everything because I want an anti screen and let us start the work. This time we'll start the work by putting a text here so I will simply select a text. And I'll write, for example, Awesome title. You can go for something more elaborate, but let's like, awesome title And my phone to this time will be next. A bowl. I'm considering making its only caps letters. Maybe this will look a bit better. Okay, let me make you smaller by having to text. Here I'll go toe a line a line center and the second button airline center again. If you don't see the align panel, Goto window and select line. Once I have that, I would like a color scheme for this entire composition like we usually do. And I just went toe Carl or start CEO a great website. And look at that. The first color and I already like it. And how can I get past this color? It's like, impossible for me because I love blue in cooperation with bright colors like that. I'm sold totally so hell off course. Use this beautiful court. I will have this under my screen. And while I work, I'll select the calls. So at first I would like a background color, right click, new, solid layer selecting color. And I am considering to go either with the bright one or with the bluish ones. Let's maybe select this time a dark background. Okay? The background should be the last. We should close it down so we can move it around. And for the text. We do maybe want to stay with the white text or we want to go with the blue one. This is a decision that I don't necessarily want to make right now, so I'll stay away from it. No, at first. Once I have the text in the background and you should have the same, your first quest will be to select a rectangle tool. Well, we have the ugly fill in the ugly stroke, so click on stroke, select no stroke. Click on Phil, Select a right color and this will be Yeah, this should be maybe the blue that I've selected. And we later see if I selected correctly those colors. I think they will be okay. And once you have that selected, please create an object which will be a bit bigger than the text you've done in the middle . So I'll select the mouse and I'll create erecting like that. I know it's a bit bigger than the actual text, just to make sure I go again to align and I align it perfectly in the middle. Now I'm sure that it covers the text. And if I hover the text over it? Yep, Now we see what we've done, and I think this look really, really interesting and really cool. So you should have a set up like that in the next lesson will start to key. Frame it because we would like to start with the animation right away. Please go ahead to the next lesson, so we will work with this object behind it, and we'll start to greet some creative ways off revealing this text. Thank you for your attention in this lesson and let's head over to the next one 4. Lecture 3 Animating the rectangle: hello and the follow up. I see you're eager to learn something. So let's try and do this. You have to stay player, which is in the back. I would like you to process on your keyboard to open up its scale. Once you have the scale, you should unlinked because we don't only want it to shrink in the horizontal range. So I'll unlike it. And that's my initial animation. I want this do group to kind of come in and review me the text and everything. I would like to be revealed. Okay, You start off course at 100% and 100% is the end animation. So take your play head, go to about two seconds and click this stopwatch. This will set a key frame on the design. Now go forward to the first key frame. If you under innovation to start right away and select the first value and press zero simple as that. So you have an animation like this. If you would do nothing to those key frames, you would have an intimation like that. But we would like this motion to come kind of quicker and kind of better, so you can select those key frames and press F nine on your keyboard. You can also right click key frame assistant and, of course, ease them in once they are east. This pattern allows you to go into the graph Editor, the graph editor. It's an editor for different. So I'm selecting the key frames and this is exactly the scale. See, once I click the scale, these are those two key frames. If I select those key frames, you see they are blue, they are selected. Okay, let me select them once again and take the bright yellow handle. If you don't see the information like that, you can select speed graph here because the value graft is a bit different. Okay, I'll go back to speed graft and I'll speed it up to the left side to the maximal amount and maybe a little bit from this side. OK, perfect. We have an animation which starts out quick and then it slowly fades to the sides. I think maybe this animation takes a bit too long to play. Two seconds was too long, so I'll take this different and shifted to maybe one second and 15 frames. Okay, Let's preview. Yeah, it's a bit quicker. Errant. We'll see in a moment if this is okay for us, please. This is enough for this list. Let's go to the next lesson. So you don't have to work so hard on this animation and you slowly build it up piece by piece. For now, you can even get rid of the text. Because for now, the most important thing is this shape. You should have an animation like that. Let me close the graph. Editor. This is the point where you should be. So you should have a background, an animated shape and this text See on the next lesson where we duplicate the shape we already have for the purpose off track matting and revealing it. So this will be a really cool thing if you want to see how to do this, police that over to the next lesson 5. Lecture 4 Second rectangle: Hello and welcome back in this lesson, we will take the shape, the shape you already have. Please click on it and press control or comment. D This will duplicate the shape and you can press you on your keyboard to see you have the same key frames, the same animation to off the same boxes. But this one should be shifted a bit forward. You can take it by hand. Let me maybe close this down a bit and shifted five frames forward or maybe six rooms. 1234 Okay, at first let's stay out. Five. Now we have still the same information. I'll need to go to the place exactly where the second key frame is exactly here and changed its value to 95%. Because I would like this little color here on the site to be different. So the new shape then you shape you copied. You can click on it. You can go to the rectangle tool and you can change. It's filled. I'll of course, used the color. I had people previously, so I will select a color. All right. It's a bit brighter blue, okay. And you'll see this is how the innovation looks OK, It can be a bit later because I think they are very quickly one after another and this whole defense on you. You see, I have those nice borders. Maybe if I would select different colors, it would be like more relevant, more visible. But you can still off course use any color you would like. So I could, for example, select a bright one and see if this looks better. Well, as I see the entire design, I think the blue is cool And if the text will be white this will all look great. And I notice I don't like something about the text. I don't want it to be Fox italic. I would like it to be a simple text like this and now will slowly come in the fun part. Don't you have this animation police make the text visible and in the next lesson will finally use to track matting in order to have a cool way off revealing this text. Let previewed once again Right now, you should have those animations. Thanks for listening to this lesson and let's head over to the next one where we finally work with the text and we'll create a great animation on it. 6. Lecture 5 Track Matting text: Ah, you are back. It's so nice. Hello. In the next lesson. Now, this will be a very important lesson because we'll finally do something great with the text . At first, I would like you to put the text into a pre composition. This will be so we can change the text in the future. You can do this by right clicking on the text and selecting pre compose. I'll maybe call it change text here. Okay. And pre composing means that we are putting it into a separate container. This separate container can be always changed and you can always open it and close it. But it will be within our first composition. So instead off just having a text. We have an entire composition. We can go inside the composition and we can change the text within it. Okay, let me go back to this component which we have, and we need to create the reveal the mask for it. This is why we have this shape number two, and it's a bit later. Please duplicated and without doing any changes, just taking it above the text, select trackman and select ultimate shape layer tree. If you don't see track fighting. You can press F four on your keyboard or select this second button here. This metal baton here on the left side is to reveal track mets and moat. Okay, now the awesome title will be never visible. There's this. Pre composition will be never visible until it gets revealed with this shape layer. So this layer and this layer there the same layers. But one is to show the blue color, and the second is only here to reveal the text. So this is how it works. So this is how it works and what you should have. At this point. You should have an animation like that, and the title looks already promising. It's already looking very interesting. Let me maybe make this composition smaller so you can see the animation more often. And this is what you should have until this point. I'll close this lesson up here, so we have still a few lessons in order to make are less. Adjustments are last week because we want a really find animation on this text, and it will be very simple. Please get over to the next lesson, and I'll show you the last steps in the next lesson. See you there 7. Lecture 6 Animating the text: all right, You have this animation and you would like to do something with the text. And the great thing here is that you can simply take this this pre composition you can process. You can press p like position and you can have fun and do anything you like. I would recommend to use s like scale here the animation finishes. You see those. Those key frames are ending here, and at this point, the text should have a scale off 100% a bit earlier. We could be a bit more crazy and make it, for example, 250%. If it's 250% it will slowly come inside the screen. And this looks like a great zoom, and a zoom should already be happening here that while you have the graph editor and you can alter this animation to your liking because I would like a disposition to swoop more to the bag because now it's very static. So once again, right click key frame assistant Eazy e's them. I go into the graph editor. Now we have a reverse animation because it's shrinking from 250 to 100 and let's make it like that. I would like it to be quicker at the beginning. OK, Yeah, it's nearly perfect. Maybe it even should start a bit earlier. Yes, this really looks like a good animation, and I do like to watch it. This is how you can make the text appear in the screen. Well, maybe it ends too late. Let me show if I take this key frame and just place it closer, the animation will finish a bit quicker. And this is up to your preference Will. If I make it longer. No, that's too boring. It definitely should be around here. And this is the animation which you should have. If you have an animation like that, you are nearly complete with this animation. Let me show you in the next Listen how you can create a tagline for this entire object. And now the three seconds are a bit too short. In the next lesson, we'll make a tagline here, so the entire design becomes more complete. And you can still say something on the video or reveal your website. I'll just add a little bit of flavor into it. Thank you for listening and let's head over to the next one 8. Lecture 7 Adding a tagline: by now you learned how to a text how to use track matting, how to reveal something. And this should be now no problem for you Let me select the rectangle. And this will be my first Met for the tagline And this will be super simple. Just create an object and this object should cover up until this point. So it's exactly lined up with the animation we already have. Let me place it on the bottom just above the background. This is shaped by your number four and I will change its color to purple. So I see that this is something else than above here. And okay, this is my second line or tagline Haider reveal or whatever You wanna call this? Okay, I'll close it because we don't need this anymore. Now I'll select text, and this will be my tagline. And my tagline can go like like my website or tagline should be better. Okay, Next, have bowled at Causton. Except bold or definitely a different color. I would like to use the blue color I had before. Well, I think next arrest Okay, Looks kind of interesting. I think I really roll with this and what do we have? We need to take the text and place it under under this mask we created. Take the text, select Trackman and select. We need to select inverted Matt because we wanted to be hidden here but revealed on the bottom. Now the second mask, this mask layer is killing because it only deals as a mask. Now we can put animation on this text like P with the position, and I think at the beginning the position should be much higher. So I'll hide it like this and going forward when the animations slowly finishes like here, the text should be salutary revealed. Okay, slowly like that. If you want to make sure that it slowly ease them in, take those key frames. Place them for example, to the left side a little bit. And now the animation will happen quicker. The beginning, and it will slowly fade at the end. Now it's absolutely where do you want it? Let's preview this animation. If this entire thing works together, I think that tag line appears to quick and the animation is as well to quick. Yeah, now it's much better. You can still tinker around with those key frames. It's up to you, but I think one now it's a bit too late. I'm sorry. Actually, I think I don't like this fund anymore. It could be a bit different. It may be a bit quicker. Maybe I'm over doing this. Let's select this place It a bit forward, Okay? Seems solid. Seems solid, but a different different. Fond. Yeah, and that's always the designers trouble Select a proper form for your design. It's best if you have something prepared that you know works along with each other the way . If don't we have next the light here next of old next light. So I'm sure they'll work together. Great. And I'll make the text smaller because I know and I will go to the end and I alter its position because the position should be just under the design a little bit. Okay, and this is finished animation Now. I would like to show you in the next lesson. It's also very important how you can finally use this in your videos. You should make it appear and make it go away from the screen. There's a trick in after effects how to do this with time remapping, and I'd like to show you district 9. Lecture 8 Time Remapping: Hello. In this lesson, I hope you are not exhausted because the lessons are short on point and we learn something new each time. So this will be a very, very simple last week which I want to show you. It's super important within after effects. Please select everything apart from the background so you can select the last layer press shift, press the first layer and everything will be selected please. Right click pre composed And let's call it Animated title. For example, this is your animated title. The animation goes to about four seconds. The great incurious that you can right click on this pre composition. You can select time and you can enable time. Remember, you can also do this by control All t OK enable timely mapping and you see a key frame has appeared. What is that? This key frame allows you to shift time. So here at this point, I would like four seconds to happen that why I select for an adult If you press for in the dot it automatically create for seconds. So four seconds are playing now in two seconds. Well, maybe this is quick, but that's no problem. You can make four seconds. Take three seconds. Isn't that great? Okay, this is the initial design, but this composition is too short. It's only like six seconds long. So I'll press control K or go to composition composition settings. And let's make it 30 seconds. Because maybe you have 30 seconds video and you need some space when you are editing. Okay, let me take the background and make it longer. And also the animation can be as long as you want. This composition will be playing for 10 seconds now. And what do I want to achieve? I want the 1st 2nd the first animation to play for from 0 to 4 seconds in three seconds. And then Alec abilities. I want another key frame because it's staying on four seconds and later on it will go back to zero seconds. So we are totally managing time. We are reversing time. We were playing with time, but the grating here is you'll see what I just created. Now this is the animation you have. It's place in three seconds. It waits and then height itself automatically. And the great thing here is that if you want this to play shorter boom Come back, take the last key frames. Boom, Come back, Boom! And now this entire animation would play and hide in the matter of few seconds. Now, this is a red eating you can use within your videos or within your render. And I'll also close this down by selecting the old and my right bracket key. And now I have already animations. I can put this animation and for example, let's say that you have a video different video that you are using and you would place the video here. Of course, that's not the video. You're placed a video here, your edit, the video. You do some tricks here and aftereffects. Then you just take this animation, this title boom you wanted here and this would be no problem. Of course, the text appears because that was the text layer. But don't mind that that this let's say this is your video. You're editing the video. You're playing the title here, so maybe it's too quick. Boom. No problem. Edit it added. The key frames boom. Okay, I'll make this longer. Your video is playing. Something is happening. The title comes in and no one said that the title has to be like that. It can be a small title in the corner like these. It can be used in your videos. For example, You say, Hey, please, like my video or watch my video or I have other content, bro. Let's check it out. It can be clickable. It all depends on what you do. This is how you can create those great minimal titled openers. Those animations, I hope I did explain everything truly and step by step. If you need any help, please let me know. I will reply to you and help. If you have really any troubles with it, I would recommend you to reach the lessons. Maybe what? I'm slower or faster. If they are too slow or too fast for you, then you can do each thing step by step one by one and you can follow to create such a ready project. Thank you so much for listening. And I do hope that you did like this and you would like to hear more of such tutorials. I have plenty of them, so please be sure to check them out as well
