About This Class
If you are interested in living a greener life, then this class is for you.
There are many aspects to eating green; this class will focus on aspect that will have the biggest impact – a whole food diet, particularly a whole food plant-based diet.
Our grandparents didn’t consume nearly as much meat and dairy as we do now, they didn’t eat out so much, they didn’t have huge fridges and freezers that can store almost 6 months’ food for the average family. Their food was a lot less complex, a lot less processed, and more homemade. Food brought families together instead of being prepared to eat on the run.
The old adage ‘you are what you eat’ couldn’t be truer. Your body is built from the food you eat and the higher quality that food the better you will feel and look.
If you have heard the advice to “shop the perimeter of the grocery store” and wondered why, it is because that is where the healthiest food it to be found. In the center of the store are where all the ‘food products’ are shelved. These are processed foods, many of which contain chemicals our bodies don’t need and can cause us harm. Around the perimeter of the store you will find produce, meats, fish. Most of the things you will find here are as close to their natural state as possible with no (or fewer) additives.
Eating a whole food diet can be intimidating if you have been used to grabbing a premade meal from the freezer and heating it before sitting down to eat. However, making your own whole foods at home is very simple and doesn’t need to take a long time. Not only that it is actually cheaper too in buying the food and in helping you feel better and more able to be active.
The class will help you set yourself up for success, change your mindset around food and then begin to transition your favorite recipes to plant-based.
I have put together a mini tip sheet/cookbook to show you how to begin making the change while still eating your favorite foods. If you want another dish added to the book, please email me and I will try and come up with something that is still good but drops the cholesterol and fat.
