Level: Beginner

Prerequisites: An electric mixer, counter top or hand, and a candy thermometer will be necessary to complete all of the techniques in this course.


Buttercream frostings are an important part of every cake decorator's recipe box (even if they don't have dairy).  This course will teach you all of the major types that you would need for every buttercream decorating purpose.

Need to pipe flowers?  Italian Meringue Buttercream is perfect!

Want to avoid dairy?  Try the Crusting Buttercream.

Do you like your frosting really sweet?  There's an American Buttercream for that!

Are you interested in learning about cooked buttercream? Swiss Meringue is a great starter.

Love Cream Cheese Buttercream? Who doesn't?

There are a lot of techniques included in the course as well.  Learn different ways to add interesting flavors to meet all personal and client needs.  Get an introduction to cooking a sugar syrup with a candy thermometer and steps to take to make your frostings super smooth.
