Have you ever been in a situation when you argue with your friend and after a while you found out that you two were protecting the same point of view but you were using different languages and there was a misalignment in communication?

I know, I have. And I often said, “But I’m talking about the same thing how couldn’t you understand me?” Then I asked myself the question “What is going on here?” I need to figure this thing out.

I did an extensive research on this topic I read all kinds of books on communication and one of the best discoveries I’ve made when we talk marketing and communication was the theory of 4 learning styles.

Harvard psychologist David Kolb came up with 4 learning styles and a 4-stage learning cycle. And his discovery revolutionize the way I do marketing and communicate.

I found out that every person has a preferred style of learning or acquiring information. And the misalignment in communication I described has happened because I was explaining my point of view using learning style #1 and my friend was acquiring the information using style #3.

This is why we had hard time understanding each other. When I delved into the theory of 4 learning styles, my communication skills improved dramatically. My lectures improved, my marketing improved, my advertisements improved…. It was amazing. And that happened because I started communicating to all 4 learning styles and that allowed me to get the message across every time!
