About This Class

31e47184

This class (3 videos) is the first in a series of three classes, which will walk you through the process of making your own hand casting. This series of classes is designed for the absolute beginner, however an adventurous spirit is a must! This thorough series of classes will walk you through making a mold, pouring the mold, and refining the casting. If you are interested in beginning your own hand casting business, you're an artist looking for an accessible introduction to body or life casting, or you want to take your own hand cast for your family or friends to the next level, this is a great place to start.

My name is Kara Gunter, and I'm an artist and educator living in the Southeast, as you'll probably be able to tell by my accent! I also have a small business in which I travel to homes, hospital rooms, and nursing homes to do hand-castings for clients. Because I am working in awkward places, my methods are simple and don't require much in the way of specialized equipment. I try to be as thorough as possible (I'm possibly too thorough on occasion!) as I get a lot of questions from folks who are interested in trying this out for themselves. I don't mind sharing in the knowledge and I hope you enjoy the classes and the process! You can visit my business website at www.familyhandcasting.net

Kara Gunter

Artist/Educator/Beagle Enthusiast

My name is Kara Gunter, and I'm an artist and educator living in the Southeast, as you'll probably be able to tell by my accent! I am mainly a sculptor (though I dabble in the 2-dimensions, as well) and work in textiles, glass, clay, wood, and many other materials. I enjoy mold-making and use it often in my own work. You can see my fine art at www.karagunter.com.

Until relocating to Arkansas in the summer of 2018, I taught art at the University of South Carolina. I've also taught ...
