Project Description

How to Sew Your Own Motorcylce-style Jacket

Assignment: Create your own jacket.

Tackling a leather jacket is no simple task, but it becomes manageable when you break it down into its elemental parts. By the end of this class, you should be able to make your own custom jacket.

  • Choose materials that inspire you; make something you will actually want to wear and show off!
  • Take your time, this is not a 1-day project.
  • Mess-ups are encouraged! Every error is part of the learning process, so don’t worry about achieving perfection your first time.

Deliverables:

  1. Show us the leather hides, lining, and hardware that you chose for your jacket
  2. Share a picture of the pieces that you cut. (I often like to arrange them on the floor, so you can visualize how the jacket will look once it’s sewn up)
  3. Show us your partially completed leather shell/body
  4. Share your final product!
