About This Class

Many CSS courses show you how to code a website from scratch. That's not very useful to my mind - lots of us need to make small tweaks and changes to sites. Maybe you have access to the CSS via an admin dashboard and need to change a bit of text, hide a button, make a header stand out more. With a few minutes and some free tools, CSS can help you do this. You don't need to know how to code a whole site - you just need to know where to look.

This class will be useful for those who use Content Management Systems (CMSs) such as Wordpress, Squarespace, Weebly, Moodle, etc. Or for those who want an idea of what CSS can do - without going step-by-step through the whole thing.

You will learn how to:

  • Hide text, buttons, images and anything else on a website
  • Change the size and position of text, buttons and images on a site
  • Change the shape of images

This is a beginners course - you don't need to know any coding at all for this - but I assume that you are looking after a website in one way or another - and have access to the admin view.

You'll need to download a text editor such as:

I'll show you how to use these and set them up in the second video - feel free to skip that, if you've already got a text editor.

I also suggest you use Chrome as it has lots of useful tools built in. I'll show you how to use these in the course.

I have written css for static sites, but never got into editing css on my wordpress site. This class has made editing css in Wordpress much easier to understand. Also using the browser’s developer tools to find and test changes is really useful.
