1. MMP Intro 2: Hi there and welcome to mix media for Procreate. My name is Tara Mercer. I love to work with mixed media and I also love to work digitally. So I wanted to combine the two to come up with something fun and interesting. So in this class we're going to start with some basic stamp brushes, and then we're going to use the tools and the layers within procreate to create an interesting composition that will turn into a desktop calendar. Alternatively, you can have your print sent to a local printer or print the motor at home if you like. And you do a variety of things with them. I like to use mine for greeting cards, but I also like to laminate them and turn them into little notebooks that I can use for gifts. So you don't need to have a lot of knowledge with Procreate to take this class that is geared more towards a beginner with the basic understanding. But if you're a little more advanced, hopefully you'll pick up something along the way. I hope you'll join me because I think we're going to have lots of fun with mixed media for Procreate. 2. Pressure Dots: So welcome to mix media for Procreate. And in this first video we are going to just look at some brushes and then we're going to make a few of our own. So I want to start with a new canvas. So I'm going to start over here and I'm going to pick 3600 pixels, pixels by 3600 pixels. And I'm working in a square canvas so that I have, my proportions aren't distorted when I make my stamp brushes and I'm working in black. I first wanted to show you the brushes that we'll be using for this video. Plus what we're going to make together. And I've just put them all into my own little category so that I don't have searching around for them because I can never remember where they are when I went, I need them. So now I've gone in and I've just duplicated and drag them into my own little category that I worked with my Smiley face dude. And you can tell that these are not the original brushes because there's a number after each one or most of them. And so where I found these, it was flicks is found in spray paint. Decimals and grid are both in textures. Artist Crayon is in sketching. Old beach is from artistic ink, bleed is from Inking and monoline is from the calligraphy. A highly recommend. You go in and find your brushes, the ones that work best for you and play around, alter them, tweak them, do whatever makes you happy to get the brushes that you want. But let's start by making our own brushes. And we're just gonna do a few, and they're really simple and quick. But we're going to start with just a pressure line monoline brush. So and I hit the plus sign up at the top. And that's going to open up my stroke properties. And I'm just gonna take em. I want to open my spacing up to full because I'm just want the dots. I'm not gonna touch anything else on there with streamline jitter or fall off. In taper, I'm going to take pressure rate down. Don't want to play with anything there. My shape, I want to stay the same because they just want dots and I'm not going to change any of the shape behavior grain. I'm not going to change anything there. I'm just going to leave everything as is. We don't do anything with rendering wet mix or color dynamics. But when we get into the aerodynamics and then Apple pencil, I want to take the opacity rate down and I want to remove, I want to have moved my Tilt. I want to put my pressure up to 0, from 0 all the way to max. And what that's gonna do is that's going to allow me to have different, It's now very pressure-sensitive. Then I can do big dots, little dots without having to change my slider. Then I'm gonna come over into Properties. And I'm going to leave all of this the same excepting than a bursa or bump up my brush behavior to about 600%. This is kind of a personal choice. You can have it whatever size you like. Down to a boat, a boat, the brush. I'm going to rename it to pressure mono line. And then I'm going to assign my name. And I'm an initial it, and then I'm going to create a new reset point so I can go in and play around with it anytime I want. And then I'm going to hit Done. And now I have my, oops, I have my pressure line mono pressure monoline brush. And now what that like I said, lets me do is I can do big dots or it can do little dots. And even if I bring it down by my biggest dots still herb that big but I can get nice tiny little dots. And I use a lot of dots for decoration. So this is going to work great for that. So two minutes and we made our first brush. 3. Heart Stamp: Back into our mono line brush. And this time, let's do our heart stamp. And you could just do a heart shape if you like. You can just draw a heart shape. And if you're happy with that own, there you go. Quite like that one. So I'm going to one but I'm going to go into and show you a different way so you can now go into and have it perfectly symmetrical. So go into your drawing guide, edit drawing guide, and come down to symmetry. It's automatically on vertical. But if you wanted to have it do a different shape and have it a certain way, you could then use the other options. But it's on vertical, which is what we want. And now I can just draw a perfectly symmetrical heart. Just remember when you're dragging and dropping your color that if your points, like if you have a hole anywhere, is just going to flip the whole canvas with ink and defeats the purpose. So I'm going to turn off my drawing guides. And now I have my two hearts that I can quite like this one, some news that one. And now to make a brush with this one. But this shape, you have three options. You can take and tap on the Layer menu and hit copy. Or you can come over to your wrench menu and you can hit Share and save it as a JPEG or a PNG to your camera roll. Or the one I had the most luck with is I three fingers swipe down and bring up my little copy paste menu. Hit Copy All. And then I'm gonna come over and I'm going to go into my brushes and I'm going to hit that plus sign again. I'm going to bring my stroke pat my spacing backup to max because we're making another brush pen taper. I'm going to take the pressure down and the shape. That's where we're going to edit our shape now. So we're going to hit Edit. We're going to go into import and we're going to hit paste. If you had save it to your camera roll, you would hit import a photo and bring it in that way. Okay. But since we did it with just the three finger swipe and we hit Paste, get rid of that little menu and now it's backwards. So what we need to do is we need to invert it. And so with a two finger tap in the center of your black shape. Should do it. There you go. And now it will stamp properly. So we're going to hit Done. And we're not going to change anything else. Their grain rendering, wet mix, color, dynamics, dynamics, those all stay the same. We're going to go back into Apple pencil. We're going to take down our opacity again. And what I have found with that is that it just makes it without playing. There's no opacity means that it's full opacity, which I have to be honest, doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but and then I'm gonna take my Tilt down again. I don't want to pressure brush this time, so I'm going to leave that pressure at 0. I'm going to go into my properties and I'm going to up my, my Ymax behavior again or my maximum size. Let's do it a 100 again. And back to about this brush, brush. We're going to put heart stamp, went to initial it and create a new reset point. And we're done. So now we have our brush. So let's check that out. Let's pick a fine color. And so now if that max size is not big enough, you can go back into your brush, back into properties and you can bump that max size up even higher to whatever you like. They're clear that and do it again, max1. There we go. You just got to remember that you can, you can then use your move tool and your size tool and you can move it, make it bigger. But when you go bigger, you tend to pixelate. You can always go smaller. That's fine. But it's better to make the brush bigger than you anticipate needing. That way you're not going to lose any fixed or your inequality when you're using it. 4. Twine Circle Brush: Okay, let's move on with our next stamps that we want to make. So I'm gonna go back to black. This time. I'm going to go into my ink bleed and I am going to get a new layer. And now I just want to make what I call it twice and circle. Everything that we're making is just to add visual interest in the background so it doesn't need to be perfect or fancy or anything like that. But it is really fun to have lots of different shapes and sizes and textures and stuff to add to your mixed media pieces too. Just for that visual interest p, part of it. So what I'd like to do here is I just like to do a circle. And just like so. And that's all it is, honestly. So now I'm going to three finger swipe down again and hit Copy All and then come over. And instead of starting from scratch, I might as well just use my heart brush because everything's already done. Hit Duplicate, open it up. And this time I'm going to go into the shape and I'm going to change the shape. I'm going to hit paste again. And now because I'm copying of previous brush, I don't have to invert it because it's already the right way. So I don't need to do that. I just need to go into my boat, brush and change the name, and then it's done. And so I like to stack black ones. And you do different colored ones and then make quite a fun pattern. 5. Alpha Numeric Stamp : Okay, let's make our last stamp brush. So for this one I am going to do an alphanumeric stamp. So I'm going to start with some text. So go into rich tool and add text. Then I'm just going to do, I'm going to start with the numbers one through 0. And I'd like my textbox to be a little bit bigger. So I'm gonna grab those nodes on either side and pull them to the left and to the right. And now I want to alter this a little bit. So to do that, I'm going to double-tap on the numbers. And that bringing pops up a little window. So you can either hit on the font or you can hit the double a above your Delete button, whichever you prefer, either will bring you to this design menu. And now I can go in here and I can change the font if I like, or I can change the size. I can change all sorts of things. So I'm going to stick with the Avenir Next condensed. And really the only thing I want to change for this is the space in-between the numbers. That space is called the kerning. And I'm going to end up cutting these apart, cutting and pasting them. So I'd like to have a little bit of space in-between them that I can get around them easily. So that's all I'm doing for that one. So I'm going hit Done and the highlight that and scooch it down. And then I'm going to do the same thing on the next layer, except this time I'm going to add letters. So I'm going to hit my wrench tool, add text. And I've done this several times, so it's up top for me and a grab those nodes again and drag it across. And the biggest reason I do that is because I like to have my, I like to be able to see everything above my keyboard. That's the only reason. So I'm going to double tap on those letters again and I'm going to hit the font or the double a. Come back to my Design window. And now I have one capital letter and all, and then the rest are lowercase. And I'd like to have them all lowercase. So in order to do that without having to go back to my keyboard, the double t on the right-hand side. If you toggle it on, it will make all of your layers capitalised. And if you toggle it off, it will then make them all lowercase. Again, I'm not too worried about the size for these ones because I can do that. Well, I cut and paste. Again, I want the kerning, that's what I want to change here. I want to fussy cut. I don't want to fussy cut. Sorry. So I'm going to make sure I've got lots of space in between. Hit Done, and perfect. So now I would like to have both of those on the same layer so that I don't have to jump and jump back and forth in between layers to cut and paste. So what I wanna do now is I'm going to open my layer panel. And as you can see, those two layers have the letter a in their window. That just tells me that they're a vector layer, unlike the layers underneath which are rasterized or pixel layers. So to merge those two layers together, I'm just going to pinch them. And now you can see in the window, you can see what's on the screen. And that tells me that it's a, it's a raster layer. And now I can go in and I can cut and paste and move things around. For this one, I'm going to do three layers of three to four letter number combinations in each. I've hit my selection tool and now I'm just going to select the number or letter that I want to start with. I'm going to hit my move tool and I'm just going to move it up and out of the way. So cattle, pigs some of the size it down just a bit. And then I'm just going to continue on and drag over. And the other thing you can do too is use your tools at the bottom so I can flip this vertically. There's no rule that says it it has to be perfectly legible or say anything. Or having said that, if you wanted it to say something now is a great time, you could do that. All right. So I know I said I was going to put four in each one, but I think I like that setup. So now two, I would like to have that on its own layer. So it's hit my selection tool again, go around and then I'm three fingers swipe down and now I'm going to cut and paste which will put it onto its own layer. So with that one, I can then delete the other letters and numbers underneath because I don't need them anymore. Highlight that again in a good spot to make it bigger. These are always going to be quite small and in the background and not very, maybe not even very noticeable. So if they're a little bit fuzzy on the edges, I'm not too worried about that. So we're gonna do the same thing as we did before. I'm going to copy all ON and check it out. So I'm gonna turn that layer off. I'm going to pick a font color. And off, we've made our last step brush. 6. Paint : Alright, let's get started on our painting. So I'm gonna go back to my gallery and I'm going to start with a brand new canvas. And now if you're just making this for your iPad and just use this screen size. But I want to put this on my iMac when I'm done. So I'm going to actually pick a bigger size. I'm going to go 11 by 8.5. So 11 is 3300 pixels and 8.5 is 2550 pixels, which I can then convert into for my iMac. So I will include a link to the website where you found the information for the different screen sizes and how many though, all the dimensions and that screen sizes dot ds. So I suggest that you check them out to find your specific one. It has all of them from everything from your cell phone all the way up to the computer. So start there. All right. So let's get started and now I'm going to work with my ink bleed to start with with black. And I just want to get doing something or other down on that white canvas. And so I'm just going to scribble on some different, different sizes. And you may or may not see this when I've done so, I'm not too worried, I'm not going for anything, but if you wanted to, you could add some lyrics or a poem or a favorite word or whatever you like, care. But I don't know how much of this I'm going to see, so I'm not too worried about it being legible or anything like that. So now I wanna pick another new layer. I'm going to go in and I'm going to use the old beach brush and I'm going to pick a new, and I'm going to pick the color nice and bright. And I'm going to just start laying down color wherever I want. There's no right or wrong and there's no rhyme or reason. I really liked the old beach brush because it can be really transparent if you like or if you don't, you can just keep adding. And then it's nice and opaque. All right, and then we're going to pick the paint. I always like pink and yellow together. Some of the origins that come out of it. And on the same layer, I'm going to keep adding the same. I'm going to keep adding the colors. If you wanted to, you could just do one layer of cool colors and one they are warm colors or, you know, whatever you like to do. Everything. I highly recommend you play around and just figure out what it is you like the best. Now, normally when you mix pink and green together, you're gonna get like a brownie color. And I'm not mixing a time right now, so I'm not too worried about that, but it's something to be mindful of. And just keep an eye on your compliments that will mix and, and maybe muddy up your, your project a little bit. So now I'm going to go into my smudge tool. And the smudge tool is on old beach still there, which is what I want. And now not using my stylus or my Apple pencil, I'm just going to use my finger and I'm just going to smudge and try and blend some of those colors together and get some interesting different things going on. And dragging some of the colors into the other. And just playing around and having fun honestly. Now I'm going to go back in and I'm an add some more color because they've got lots of green and not a lot of yellows. So I'm going to go in and add some more yellow. And I'm going to darken my pink a bit. And back to my smudge tool and I'm going to blend again, see what we come up with. And I'm more or less actually just tapping my finger, not so much smudging it around. I'm just tapping to blend the colors a little bit. So I find it that gives it a nice interesting texture that I'm going forward should be creates. I think we need to the teal turquoise up here. And then back to mismatch to again. Excellent. Okay, so now you can still see a lot of the background, that dark black lines that we did on the background. So it may or may not want to keep that, but let's try duplicating that paint layer just to see. So now that's made it quite opaque. Smooth it around it. If thought is still pretty opaque, so we're just going to leave it, leave it in place. And now what I'm gonna do instead is I'm going to grab my eraser tool, which I'm going to put on to incomplete for the texture. Fairly big and above 20 percent. And now on that second layer that we duplicated, I'm going to go in and I'm going to just scribble some lines and see what that does. Is it really seemed to be doing a whole lot of anything honestly. Or two, and take the opacity down a little bit. Well, that defeats the purpose. So let's turn it off and see what the you know, honestly, I'm just going to delete it because I really don't think it's a big deal. Think if nothing else, we could do a second layer. Go back to our old beach brush and let's put down some color. But because this is on a different layer, it's not going to blend with the, with the layer below K. And let's do the same thing as we did before. And you could even turn off the layer underneath if you wanted to. But I'm going to leave it on just so I know where all the painted from before. And do that next layer. And then we'll try the eraser trick and see what we get that way. So let's go ahead and blend this. I've got less paint on this layer because I still want to see a lot of that. That first they are poking through. All right, so now let's take that off. So you see we don't have a lot of paint on that layer, which is good. But now if we go into that, into it with our eraser tool and then do this one. Get this cool rainbow because for now erasing that second layer there and bringing it through. So that I think looks pretty cool. I like that. Excellent. All right. So now I'm going to go into my black and I'm going to go to those brushes that we made at the beginning. And I'm just going to do a little composition here. Nothing too fancy or anything like that. But it didn't start anything. I need everything on a new layer. And I don't want a gigantic card and under slightly bigger. Let's start big and then we can size down. So I'll put that one here. And I like to I never put anything in that dead center because that's where your eye automatically goes. So you want to try and go either to the left or to the right. And usually you want to pick like a, like a corner if you were to, if you were to section your canvas into thirds. Show you what I mean here. We're gonna go into thirds. The most pleasing compositions, which wasn't very good. But are these one of these four parts, one of these four sections where the lines intersect is going to be your most interesting point part to put your stuff. Okay, so I'm happy with that. I think that looks really good. And now I want to get a new layer and we're going to go in and start with the user no stamp brushes that we made earlier. So with my heart fairly big because I can size it down, I'm going to put a heart in and now I'm going to size it down a little bit. And I tend to Late Heavy my parts off to the side either to the right or the left and never do anything dead center because that's immediately where your eye is going to go. I don't wanna do that. But I'm so I'm just going to put my one hurt off to this side. And now to balance the piece, I'm going to put some more hertz over to the other side. But I want the first chart is my focal point. So my, my other hearts are going to be smaller than that one. So again, I can go smaller if I want to. So started on a new layer and now I can move these around wherever I like. This one, I've definitely look smaller. So then set him up there. One more. I'm going to merge these layers together once I've got the more I want them. So I'm not too worried about it. So I'm happy with that. So now I'm going to squeeze those three that are on the same layer together. So I have that layer, that layer. And then I'm going to decorate those with some white a little bit later, but I want to add some more stuff first. So now I'm gonna go in and get that twine circle stamp that we made. And I like to just stamp it down and then take the size and the movement. I wanted to go. And I'd like to have stuff going off the edge. What I'm trying to do is I'm trying to add stuff to the piece so that it draws the viewer's eye around the project. And now I have the Twine circles on the same layer. But as long as they're not touching, That's not a big deal. I just grabbed my ribbon tool and I selection tool and now I have this one. There's still on the same layer. I just can now move it around and do whatever I wanted with that one there because I've liked this interesting paint underneath. And I'm gonna do one more again because they're not touching. And let's bring this up here. Well, that I want them all going off. Now I want to go into the white on a new layer just in case I don't like it. And I'm gonna do white. And then I'm gonna do the same thing and I kinda want them together, but not quite exactly the same. And then if I decided that I actually want, say I want this pressure, I want this white circle to be under the black. What I'm gonna do then is I'm going to be on that layer with the white ones. I'm gonna take vice my ribbon tool and I'm going to, I'm going to loops. I am going to use the free hand and I'm going to go around and then I'm gonna do the three fingers swipe down and get my little copy paste menu and I'm going to hit Cut and Paste. So now that we'll put that white layer on, it's put that white twine circle on its own layer. And now when I drag that layer down underneath the black layer, now my black layer is on top of that white one, but only that one. So again, just a little bit added interests in going on there. So I'm gonna go back up and I'm going to pick a new layer again. This time I'm going to pick one of the colors that we have going on there. And I'd like to teal for this one. And now I'm going to pick our alphanumeric stamp. And this is stamp it right in the center. And I'm going to use my transform tool. I'm going to use the free form so that I can come to make it a little short and squat, go back to uniform. And now I'm just going to move this. So it's been interesting. And then I'm going to do that again. Use my selection tool, transform it down. I'm going to flip it. And I'm gonna put it here. One more than that. Really do like to work in thirds and threes. And then in this one I'm going to have, go off here and have it just kind of in the same color. But now with that layer, we're actually going to move that layer down underneath because I want that to be underneath my heart. And so now I'm going to blend modes and on that one time, Let's try. So you can see, oops, can see, we'll just look at this one really close up that this is multiply. And so with multiply, it makes a transparent and darker. And now just play with your blend modes until you find one that you like and see what happens. I really like overlay because it tends. It just makes it look really cool with however it works. It just, it plays with the pixels of the layer below and kinda mixes most gathering. So you get this really cool look and whoops, cool looking thing. So now, so we can see the whole thing again, Let's try these. So this is on Vivid Light. Move this one over just a bit. So vivid light. And now let's see what else we can create linear. Well, that one's kind of cool with those ones by the heart. So I really like L1, so I'm going to leave the overlay one like that. And so now that's again, just a little more visual interests. Now I wanna go back up to my top layer, add a new layer. And now we're going to go in and we're going to add some more interest. And I'm going to start with the grid brush. I tend to like using the grade and the decimals on tone on tone. So for the grid, and I have it on the teal, I'm gonna kinda started in the teal and then run it across like that. So kinda blends in and out with it. But not always, it doesn't always happen. And now let's change the color and do some green. Green going on. But if you wanted to, you could do like all green on the green on the pink looks really great because again, they're complements so that they contrast with each other really nicely. And let's do some pink, but let's move to the decimals. And so these two brushes too are pressure sensitive. So if I want really strong decibels, then I'm going to push hard on my pencil. But I want just a nice light. I don't want anything too drastic. So I'm just nice and light pressure. And excuse me. Let's add some yellow here just for just a little bit going on there. All right. So I'm liking that so far it's starting to get pretty busy, but because we're going to put the calendar on top, it's, it's, it's all just for visual interest in the background k. And so now we are going to put some decoration on those hearts. So two, because they're black hurts. I'm going to use white. I'm gonna get a new layer above everything else. I'm going to go into my ink pen and now I'm going to, I like little stitches, but you could do circles or you could, you could decorate these however you like. But I like the look of it. Will come next stitches like I've stitched this heart down. Okay. So there's my big heart with the stitches, but now I don't want to copy that. I wanted to do this same on the other hertz necessarily. So I'm going to stay on the same layer. But this time I think I might actually go around this smaller art and like a sketchy look. And now I'm going my monoline. And I'm just going to put some dots on this one. And then for the big one, I think I might do bigger dots. But actually I think what I'll do with that one is when you use that pressure mono line brush that we got that we made earlier. Well that's way too big if they're great. So I've got a little bit of interests going on with each heart, something different on each heart. And everything looks, I think quite, quite pleasing. So now what I wanna do is I want to get, go into the bat black again, a new layer thick go stick with that pressure monoline brush. And now I'm just going to add some more black to my background. And now I'm going to do some white dots as file. Maybe even on top of some of the black. And a little more coupled with black holes here. Alright? And now I want to stick with the black because I know want to decorate those dots a little bit. So back into my ink bleed. And now I'm just going to scribble and just add some more interest. And all of this stuff is optional and you don't wanna do this part. You just do whatever makes your heart happy. Can There's no right or wrong to it. I just like all the little extra bits so you can even add. I really like scribbles and sketchy move that wasn't, it. Turned out to black as file. If you really like lines, you could just do lines, could do grow hearts into an area like now, one last thing that we could do is we could use our flex and we could add some loops to the work. They're equal k. So let's kinda hit or miss. It's whether you like that or not. I don't know that I like that, so I'm going to that one. Let's try with whatever colors. I don't know that I like that either. So let's try one more time with the white so it's significant weight, looks like that one. I will definitely play with the opacity a bit. And then you just have to maybe toggle on and off and see if it's worth it. Now, I don't think so. I'm gonna delete that layer. But there we go. So there is our mixed media background. And again, it's whatever you like, maybe that's a little for you. It's a little too much. But I want lots going on in the background because I'm going to now make the calendar to go on top. And so the other thing too is that this is all going to be on its own, its own group. So if we don't like something, once we put the calendar on top, we can just go in and get rid of it. So I'm going to group this all together. And then I am going to, I'm going to turn that off. So I've put that into my group and when we come back, we're going to do the calendar. 7. Oops: All right. So I wanted to give you guys a little bit of a disclaimer. I was mistaken when I said that I thought that my 11 by 8.5 would work for sizing up to any size. It turns out that it's not quite as good for the iMac because it's such an awkward dimension. It's very long and skinny. And so I suggest that you work in, you figure out what size of monitor you're putting it on and then make your dimensions from there. But since we've already got this far, I'm just going to keep going with it. I'll just show you how I'm going to alter it to put it for my iMac. What I wanna do here is I just want to have our project up. I'm just going to three finger swipe down and get my copy paste menu and hit Copy All. And then I'm going to back out into my gallery. And I'm going to get a new canvas. So here, if you're doing for whatever size of monitor you're wanting to put this on. You would then put the dimensions in here. But I already have my iMac dimensions down here, so I'm gonna do that. And as you can see, it is quite long and skinny. And now I'm going to paste. So three-finger swipe down and hit paste. And as you can see, it doesn't fit very well. So I'm just going to make, drag it out a little bit and then I'm going to put on free form and I'm gonna drag from this sides. I don't want to distort it too terribly much though. It's not too bad because there isn't a lot of words, but I just, I don't want to distort it. And so I'm just gonna keep going back and forth between uniform and free form until I'm happy with that. And then I can switch it around and get the composition that I want. And there I'm quite happy with that. And so there it's ready to go for my iMac. And now when I finish this next part, which is the calendar part of things, I will then do the same thing to copy paste, but we'll do that in down the road. 8. Calendar: All right, let's move on to our calendar end of things. So I'm going to go back to my document that we did earlier, our painting. This is the one at 811 by 8.5 with all our layers. And I grouped those so that I could easily turn them off. And now I'm going to open a new layer above that. I'm going to make sure that I have black as my color and I'm going to use my monoline brush. I would like some really precise lines for my grid. So I am going to go into my wrench tool and get my drawing guide, edit my drawing guide. And I have options. I can move this up and down. And basically I just want to have approximately I want to have at least seven across the top and five along the bottom. And then I'm going to turn my Assisted Drawing on, on the right-hand side and I'm going to hit Done. And now with this layer with just that assisted drawing, because we didn't change anything with symmetry or anything. All it's going to do is give us perfectly straight vertical and horizontal lines, which is exactly what we want. So clear that and I want to make my size a lot smaller. Yeah, I think I'm on my monoline brush him and about a 6%. And now all I'm gonna do is follow my grid. All right, so I've got my lines down and they're not perfect, but I don't really need them to be, I just need them to be really close. And now I would like to have so that I can have it so that I can put my my numbers and letters all in the same spot. So I'm going to duplicate that layer. And I'm going to use my move tool. And I'm just going to sketch it around and I'm just going to decide where it is. I want to turn my magnetics off for right now. And I just want to decide where I want to place my numbers and letters. And I'm going to use the cross mark there to place them one. So I think that looks good for now. And so then I'm going to turn the opacity down on that layer just so it's just there. And now we can move on with the next part. So now I'm gonna do like we did with our alphanumeric stamp brush. And I'm just going to go in and cut and paste. So I'm going to go into Add Text. And I'm going to start with the days of the week. So my capitalize all of those. Okay, tap, bring up my design menu size a little bit bigger for now. And change the curvy like we did before. Perfect. So now I'm going to go into my selection layer and just cut and paste. Alright, perfect. So now I have all the days of the week. And now I'm going to go in and do the same for the numbers. Great. So I went in and I did one 331. And again, just like we did before this time, I just want to make sure that I am starting on the proper day of the week. I happened to be making this calendar for September 2021 and that starts on a Wednesday. So you just want to double-check that you're starting on the right date. And so off we go. So now when it comes to the double-digit numbers, you have a choice. You can just cut the numbers out and have a little bit of space in between. Or you can cut and paste and move them closer. You could have them kind of staggered, so that looks like so. And I think that's what I'm gonna do just because it looks interesting and why not That way if they're wonky, it looks like it did it on purpose. Okay. And September 2021 only has 30 days, so I don't need the 31, so I got rid of that. And now I can turn off that second grid that we used just for sections and will not turn off my drawing guide as well to look. Alright, so I'm happy with that, but as you know it it's the size of our documents, so we want to size it down now. So what I wanna do is I want to highlight, I'm going to delete that second grid layer. And I'm going to highlight all three layers. And then we use the move tool and I'm going to scooch them down. Just an approximate size because we're still going to change a few things and now I'm going to turn my painting on in behind. And as you can see, we only have black lines with black numbers. So we need to add something, we need to add a background. So let's add when you do a white background, we're going to, let's use the selection tool and own the, we have the options and these rectangle. And now I'm just going to draw a rectangle. It doesn't matter what size. And I'm going to fill it so you can see that there is the lines there. If we drag and drop color, it will fill it where where the lines are not going to turn off my selection tool. I'm gonna grab those top three layers again. And I'm going to drag that onto my rectangle. And as you can see, our rectangles way too big, but that's easily fixed. So we'll go into that layer. And I think I'll use free form and I'll just bring it down. I'm going to cut I'm going to take off some of those extra lines. Great. So now let's go into that grid layer and let's, It's still assistance. So if we want to use our Eraser tool, we'll go in. It'll still do the and it'll still be only do this horizontal and vertical. Doesn't matter what tool you're using, whether it's the smudge tool or the eraser tool, it will only do up and down and side to side. And then just make it and put it wherever you want it to go. And have it linked down in the corner. You can have it centered. You can have where every like. So I like how that looks, but I'd love to have a little dark and behind it. So I think what I'm gonna do is I'm going to put a new layer in behind. Actually, let's go back into the wrong group. Let's go into this group. We're going to duplicate our white rectangular layer. And on the bottom one, we are going to change the color to black and make sure that you're on that layer and just drag it in and drop it so you can't see because you're white ones on top, but if you turn that one off, you can see it. What I wanna do here is I want to go into my magic one tool to Gaussian blur. I'm on the layer and there's good drag my finger across. And as you can see at the top, it's giving me a percentage of how much Guassian blur I've got. And you can see that I've got a little dark shadowy type thing coming around the white box. So I'm at a boat. Let's go to 16 percent. See how that looks. And as you can, it's kinda hard to it's very subtle, It's not very obvious, but as you can see, it's quite blurred. Now. We turn the white one back on and it just gives us a little bit of interesting. Underneath the white layer. You didn't wanna do that. You could, you could just do a drop shadow or you can even take that blurred and do a drop shadow. It's up to you. But I'm going to leave it centered in behind. And now the other thing that we haven't got is we haven't got what month this is. So I'm going to go into Add text again and I'm going to write down the word September. And I think I might see what that looks like, capitalised. That's not too bad. It's picked up a bit bigger. And there I think I'm happy with that. And I'd like to make it stand out a little bit more. So I'm gonna do the opposite of what I did before. I'm going to, I'm going to duplicate that. And if you go into that layer, well, it's still vectorized. You can change the layer here. I'll turn off my top layer and on my bottom layer, I want to change it to white. So because it's vectorized, it, I'm on that layer. If I just change my palette color to white, it automatically does it for me. So now I can turn my top one back on. I can use my move tool. And now I can sketch it out from underneath just to make it stand out just a little bit more. And all of these things are optionally you can do whatever you like here. All right. So there we have our our calendar for September 2021. And now I can put this onto my desktop. Okay, so now I want to take that calendar and I want to move it over into the other document I made for my iMac. So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to hit on my layers and I'm going to turn everything off except the calendar. And the dates have no background color and my painting isn't up on the back. Then I'm going to three finger swipe down and bring up my copy paste menu. I'm going to hit Copy All. And I like to turn everything back on before I leave this one and hit Gallery. And then I am going to go back into that iMac document that I made. And I'm going to hit three fingers swipe down and paste. And now I have my, it's all on one layer. And if I want to add like to on this document, have my September in a different spot. So I'm going to make sure I'm on that layer. I'm going to use my selection tool on freehand. Forget to do that part. And then you can either just move it or you can cut and paste it. But I think that works. Then it's still all on the same layer. If you wanted his own separate layers, just bring up your cut and paste menu with a three-finger swipe down and then you can cut and paste it to a new layer. But I've been happy with that. And now I can put that onto my iMac and I can put the other one onto my iPad. So in the next video, that's what we'll do is we'll put our new calendar onto our iPod. 9. Uploading : All right, so now I want to put my calendar on my iPad. So in order to do that, I'm going to hit share and I'm going to save it as a JPEG. I am going to save it to my camera roll, but you could AirDrop it to your Mac. Now if that's what you wanted to do, or you could email it, you can send it messages, whatever you like to do here, like wherever you want it to go, this is where you could send it. But I'm going to save it to my camera roll. And then I'm going to back out of Procreate. And I'm going to go into my settings. And I'm going to scroll down until I find wallpaper there, this. And then I'm going to choose a new wallpaper. I'm going to grab that photo. And now I can switch it around a little bit to get it where I want. Once it's semi good place, I'm hit Set. And I would like mine for the home screen. So that when I'm when my iPad's open and I'm not an app. I have my calendar. 10. Finishing Up: So finishing up her class, I just wanted to share with you my final project. And then I also wanted to share with you a few of the projects that I've created in Procreate as well. With these ones, I had the same approaches our class today to just play and have fun and explore the brushes, the layers, the blend modes, and anything that I could find within Procreate to make something fun and interesting. I also included a download of the October 21 calendar that I made here. I did it exactly the same way as we did in class today. I just used a different color palette. And then I added the extra star stamp, which was done as the same as the heart. So very simple to do. I really hope that you can play and have fun and explore everything that Procreate to has to offer. Because it really is truly amazing. I would love to see what you create from this class.
