Project Description

WHAT YOU HAVE TO ACCOMPLISH IN THIS CLASS PROJECT:

  1. Download and install trial version of Microsoft Project (if you don't already have it) - see intro lesson
  2. Replicate the 1st Exercise "Birthday Project Plan" - using MS Project

SCENARIO and OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT PLAN:

It is your spouse's 30th birthday in 2 weeks. And you want to celebrate this special day with a well organized party.
You plan to invite family, friends and colleagues. You also intend to host at a nice venue, order food from caterers and decorate according to a theme.
Since you are a diligent Project Manager - you will create a Project Plan - so that everything runs to a plan!!
-------------------------------------------------

DESCRIPTION:
Exercise: 1 Birthday Plan project
Complexity: SIMPLE Level
Task Items: <~20 / few days
File Type: Blank file
Domain: Generic/personal
Project Management Phases: Initiation
Key Concepts Learned: A "Hello World" type of project plan. You will get a first look of the UI, very simple but fully functional.
-------------------------------------------------

ASSUMPTIONS:

This plan is intended to be a VERY SIMPLE introduction to Microsoft Project - the learner will probably be using MS Project for the very first time or similar. We will create the simplest of schedules - ignoring resourcing, costs - or any other concept - other than simple tasks created with the very basic dependency.
