1. Introduction: Flowers one of the most beautiful gifts of nature, symbol of beauty, joy, and life itself. I love having flowers at my home, at my studio, and visiting botanical gardens and parks to appreciate the beauty and complexity of flowers. When I see them I can only think of how I wanted to paint the beauty of flowers. Hello and welcome to another floral painting class. The beauty of lovers most of which for me is their colors, shapes, and interactions with each other has always drawn artists. And I'm not an exception here, actually my first oil painting was floral too. So there are tons of ways to create a floral painting. And in this test, I will share with you one of them, the negative painting technique. This technique was a great discovery for me and I'm very excited to share it with you today. So in this class, you will learn how to use negative painting technique to create an expressive loose floral painting. This class is great for beginners as well as for experienced artists. If you have painting experience, this technique will be easy for you, but you will learn how to create abstract followers in the way.
2. Class Project: The project for this class is about creating loose floral painting using negative painting technique. To do so, first, I'll talk more about the nature of negative painting technique. Then, after gathering all the needed materials and tools, we’ll be ready to start our creative process. We'll start by creating a mess using bold, colorful strokes of paint all over the canvas. This will be a very intuitive and fun start for us. Then you’ll use your Imagination and a creative eye and create a silhouette of the flowers. from this mess, we've created. Your imagination and creativity are the things that will make your art so special and interesting. And on the last stage of this process, we’ll add more more colors to the painting to make it more colorful and texture. So this is what we are going to do in this class. I want to encourage you to share your works. So once you are done, don't forget to share your flower paintings in the project and Resources section. I am really excited to see all of them.
3. Negative Painting Technique: In this class, I'll talk more about the nature of negative painting technique. Negative Banting sounds like a complicated concept. But once you understand the basics, it's actually quite straightforward. To understand it, let us first look into the difference between positive and negative space painting. In general, positive and negative space painting is a part of every painting. IA figure, a bouquet of flowers, or other objects in your painting are positive shapes. This is the most common approach to drawing and painting. Positive space is the thing you want to draw your attention to. the negative space is the area that surrounds the objects It's often overlooked, but of equal importance for support of the design and composition of the painting. So for example, in this painting here we will create today in this class, the positive space. Is this bouquet of flowers, and the negative space is all that surrounds it. So these blue area, you can make positive and negative space work together to create an interesting composition. Negative painting is an alternative approach in which the subject is established by painting around the object rather than painting the object itself. Which means that the same object can be created. But instead of feeling it with color, texture and shading, these elements are applied around the shape. I love this technique because it gives you so much freedom and so many ways to be creative. Negative painting is a great skill to learn as it helps artists to learn to view images as shapes and contours. It will help you to train your creative eye and simply have fun.
4. Tools & Materials: In this lesson, I'm going to go over some tools and materials you will need for this class. So in this class I will be using acrylics. If you've been watching my glasses you could notice that I prefer oils and oil pastels. And I have decided to use acrylics for this class. For one simple reason. Acrylics dry faster, which is perfect for negative painting techniques. They're also very colorful and vibrant. So I'm really happy with my choice. As usual, I encourage you to experiment if you've worked with other medium and excited to see the results of your experiments. Then you will need just a few brushes. And we'll also be using my favorite palette knives. So if you have one, I recommend it to give it a shot. And I will work on watercolor paper. 30 by 40 centimeters. So those are the suppliers I will be using for this class. If you have any questions regarding art supplies or anything at all. Feel free to ask me in the discussion section.
5. Creating Colorful Mess: When working with negative venting techniques, they have to start our Banting glows and abstract. On the stage where you cover all this orifice with the colorful mass. Before I start, I tend to choose a few main colors for the entire painting. Hidden your pain to edit, to use will save you time and effort, and it will help you to make bolts and Fez decision. Keep your color choices simple, but do it intentionally. For example, my intention here is to make a painting that represents the born and the colors of October. That's why I'm on my painting to include cheerful and bold colors like yellow, orange, and red. There's no limit for your imagination and expression here. You can spread out the colors along the surface. You can learn them altogether. Or we use various techniques like an insult or alcohol. Be as creative as you want. Our goal here is to keep it loose and abstract. Negative. I work on the ground to be complex. You will be ready to move on to the next stage of the process. Okay? Okay.
6. Establishing The Silhouette: Now that we have our background, he can start on establishing mercy lab of the fibers. And this is where your imagination comes into play. Referred to anything. Just look at these colorful mass for awhile until you can almost see an image of ours in the West. Let the governors and shapes you see guides, you. Look closely and decide on the overall shape of the was holding him forget of loose farmers. Our goal here is to create those abstract flowers that any specific kind of lovers. So you see in real life, the trick here is to start with the boss decides on the shape of the files that will hold their followers. Load airbrushed open edX knife with a color. Your choice. And started by painting around the vos. Basically, you are painting the background here, but at the same time, you're assembling the shape of the bus so that you can use it bled knife or a brush. With a bad knife, you will create a more textured and age of the ground and the colors will be more full and vibrant. Who's a branch? If you've gone to your background to be wantonness and consistent. I will demonstrate how most tools or by starting with the BYOD knife. But I will stick to brush because I want my background to be smooth. I will create some texture later on the flowers. This will be easier for you to do this. Yeah. Right.
7. Adding Colors & Shapes: So here's our vows and farmers. It's already looks like vibrant abstract painting for me, but we can make an, even by attempt on this stage of the painting. On the stage, we can add more bold colors and texture. So I'm gonna start with the last and the table. I won't there was to be a bit clear. Almost. See, bro. So I'm adding the same color as the background behind and around the US to make the table more colorful so that it will look nicely with that color. Sound chosen orange color for a table. Let's leave the last end table for awhile. Later, we'll add more small details to them. But for now, I want to work in it with flowers. This is one of the most exciting parts of the painting. After all, this is all about with lovers. I want my fibres to draw attention to them, to make them cheerful and vibrant. Some gonna add more red, yellow, and orange to them. We want to give the farmers lose ends abstract. So then you add more colors to them. Keep the shapes simple. I'm starting with my brush and I just create simple random spots of color, hearing them. Another trick here is to create a variety of different lose fibers. So make sure you use not only in different colors, but also different shapes and sizes of these flowers. For example, add now few really big spots of color. You can instantly see the difference. With these meager shapes. The painting becomes less abstract. And appears to look languages and flowers. Now I continue painting some more small fibers and I'm switching to my bike night. Pled knife will help you to keep it loose and the colors will be more Bolt and vibrant. It's also a great tool to add more texture to your abstract painting. So I'm loading my blade knife with yellow Bain and aggregate, really small and colorful flowers. Nanofibers are mostly red and skill. So I want to add some bold complimentary colors to them. For these purpose, I will use blue color and creates a small texture, flowers, mostly on right side of the flowers. Now, the painting looks more interesting for me. His jokes of orange will broaden out the overall look of the fibers. I want to use this color for the table as well. I'm going to do it by using the bread knife so that the color will be more vibrant and it will also add more texture to the painting. As you can see now the table moves much brighter and eye-catching and will continue bending some more. I want to add some. It's a little bit of white veins here. I believe it will freshen up lovers and simply make them more interesting. Don't hesitate to add Old, unrealistic colours to the flowers. They will then lose an abstract after all. If you have something to remaining in your color palette, feel free to add them to banking. Please send together this value weren't based and will also make the benthic more reach and colors and shapes. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Add color to create some of this. And that is what. A little bit more. I want to make it brighter and colorful. And bright blue and some green. Just a little bit of light on this side. It looks much better now. So now when a MOOC in painting, I see that Lewis and upset flowers I was aiming for. It looks vibrant and full of energy. So now I can add a few strokes are remaining paint to the flowers and ways and the tape at these buoyant might lose. Floral painting is finished. I will see you in thanks lessons for final thoughts and the doctor weeks of this class. Right? Okay. It's complex. Okay.
8. Final Thoughts: So as you can see by loosening up your flowers, you can express the energy and the feel of your painting. And the negative painting technique is a great way to do that. Once you've created a messy aground, it will dictate the shapes and colors of your flowers. You just have to trust in the process and try not to overthink every step of the painting process. So let's go through some top tips of this class. Keep your color choices simple. Before you begin the painting, choose a few main colors for your entire painting. Having your paint ready to use will save you time and effort. And it will also help you to make bold and fast decisions. let your imagination come into play Stare at your colorful mess for a while until you get to see the image of florals in a vase. Stand back from your painting to make intentional decisions. decide on the overall silhouette shape of a vase holding a bouquet of loose flowers. load your brush or palette knife with the color of your choice and paint out the parts that don't look like flowers in a vase. Then paint some more. Add more bold colors and shapes until painting becomes less abstract and you can see those colorful flowers on your canvas. And finally, I want to encourage you to push your own creatively limits, experiment with medium and colors and shapes until you find your own unique style.
