About This Class

In this class, you will learn the essentials of Adobe Dimension while you add a logo you designed or a logo from the support files to a 3D scene. This can be helpful when we want to present a logo concept to a client by adding it to a 3D model in a scene or on a product or package. Clients can then better understand how their logo looks in a 3D space or on a package or product. The following topics are included in this course:

1. Using Adobe Dimension to Present Logo Concepts to Clients: Hello, I'm Chad. And in this course you'll learn how to use Adobe Dimension by applying a logo onto a three D model in order to represent the logo to a design client. So here, on skill share, the project is a logo design concept and presentation of it in a three D space so you can use an Adobe illustrator file of a logo that you designed already on your own. Or maybe you took one of my logo design courses where you designed an illustrator file and made a logo is one of those projects or another class. Or you can use the support file that I've added to the project. And Resource is area in order to follow along. And practice with Dimension is a three D rendering and design software program, but models are not designed in dimension. Instead, we used to mention to import three D models or use models already provided with software in order to apply materials, lighting and graphics to them. We can adjust models as faras, scaling or re sizing them, rotating them, moving them around and adjusting the lighting. Of course, our project in this course is to apply a logo onto a model within a scene, so the focus is branding logo design and packaging. However, dimension can also be used in environmental design, architecture, er, advertising and even abstract and conceptual art. Although our project is a logo application, this course includes the essentials of Adobe Dimension. So by the time you complete the course, you will know how to use the software program well enough to use it in other contexts as well. The model file formats that we can import into dimension include Obi J F B X STL, an escapee. We can also apply graphics onto models or his backgrounds, and the graphic file formats that we can use include J. Peg, P and G PST, Tiff, AI and SPG. Well, first go over the tools and workspace before adding and customizing a three D model in the scene. We will then apply and customize the material to the surface of the model before adding some graphics to show how fun and easy it is to apply graphics to models. Then we will add a logo, either the logo I designed from the support files or a logo you designed in Adobe Illustrator already finally We will review how to adjust the camera angles in the workspace , including adding camera bookmarks that we can refer to later when rendering the image. After going over how to apply in, adjust various types of light. We will then render the scene to a PSD file so we can make a few more edits and photo shop . Before we would present the logo concept to a client. I'll see you in the course. 2. Installing Adobe Dimension: Adobe Dimension is a fun and useful design and rendering program. Unlike some other modelling programs, we don't design three D models in Dimension. We have a collection of starter models available already, and we can download models to use as well. But Dimension is a great software program to present to D logos another two D content in a three D scene. Clients can then see what a logo would look like on a product on a billboard, on a T shirt or on packaging. For example, before we start using Adobe Dimension in order to present logos in a three D design, we need to install it if you have a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud for Illustrator Photoshop and so on. In other words, the complete subscription. You should have access to Adobe Dimension in the Adobe Creative Cloud App. Click on install next to the name Adobe Dimension. Adobe Dimension requires a processor that can handle it so it won't work on older computer that barely runs photo shop, for example, it requires a stronger processor than even other graphics software programs like Photoshopped and Illustrator. Once dimension is installed, just click open in order to start it when we start to mention we can create a new document by clicking this option, or we can click open to you, open a file that already exists. If we click the three dots next to you to create new button, we can adjust what size the canvas will be by default, and we can also adjust the units of measurement. I'm going to keep it set to the default. 1000 and 24 pixels for the width and 768 pixels for the height Onley. One document could be open at a time in dimension, unlike in Photoshop Illustrator or in Design, for example, which can all have many documents open at the same time. So once you have dimension installed, go ahead and start the program in order to follow along. I'm just going to click, create or Weiqing click create new or file New. From there, we can click on design and soon will be going over the tools and the various panels in this workspace 3. Adobe Dimension Workspace and Tools Introduction: once to mention is installed. Click Create new, even though I'm using the default canvas size. We can also adjust this after creating a new document by cooking the numbers up here. And then we can click and drag the corner. I'm going to press control or command Zito undo. We can also go to image resize canvas and click and drag the corner after that to resize the canvas. And we can also adjust the canvas size and also the units of measurement here in the properties panel, even after we create the new document. Just like another adobe programs, we can use the keyboard shortcuts control on PC or command on the Mac and the plus or minus signs on the keyboard to zoom in and out. Or we can click the zoom amount up here at the top. Or we can go to view and select a zoom level from there. Or we can use the zoom tool here over on the left and click and drag a Neri to zoom in. I'm going to press control or command one that will set it to 100% as a keyboard shortcut. We can move around the canvas with the hand tool and again, just like other adobe programs. If we have another tool selected, like the select tool up here, if I press the space bar and hold onto it, it toggles to the hand tools so I can click and drag around the campus by toddling to the hand tool and then go back to our original tool and keep working on the design up here in the top left hand corner, we can pull out shortcuts to starter assets, which come with Dimension. We can also switch to C C libraries so we could use assets that we have saved to RCC libraries, including assets such as images or illustrations that we saved in other double programs to RCC libraries. We can also insert adobe stock or import other content, such as a three D model file or an image as a background. For example, we can access those options in other parts of the program as well. We can browse the models, materials, lights and images available here by toggle ing the arrows. We can also import an image model or other type of file by going to file import and selecting the correct option here, such as an image is light, placing a material under the selection, placing a graphic onto the model, adding an image as the background and adding a three D model. We can also search by keywords, so making sure none of these air toggled on, we can search for something, say glass, and then we can see under Adobe Standard materials. There are some available materials here to use. There are only some models available coffee cup if I type in, and so whenever we have results there, we click the extra, make sure it's just searching for everything. We can also filter here by type, so these correspond to these groups down here. So if I click this, this just sets it to models and then materials, lights and images so we can search by keyword. And then after we have search by keyword, if multiple categories air showing up, we can then further delineated by type. And if one of those is highlighted, if we just click it again, it will unhygienic so that all of the materials and objects and items and images are available here and finally up here. If we have the models open here. For example, if I click this top right hand corner, it toggles it to a list and a grid. So Grid has more per row, of course, and then a list just has one column on the left. Here we have a list of tools to use in dimension. Unlike other oW programs like Photoshop, Illustrator and in Design, we can't just click and drag this and move it around like a panel. It stays here on the left, however, we can click this button in the lower left hand corner, and that will toggle the assets area for more working space here, where the campuses besides the hand tool to move around the campus, which I mentioned earlier, and the zoom tool to zoom in and out of the canvas. We have other tools, such as the select Tool up top. Whenever a tool has the arrow in the lower right hand corner, it indicates that there are more tools in the menu, or at least more options for that tool. We can click and hold on to that tool, and it will bring out the menu. So besides the select tool, we also have the move tool, the rotate tool and the scale tool. We can also adjust the tool options here, such as adjusting the selection mode to add to the selection or subtract from the selection the group of tools blow that includes selection tools, including the Magic Wand Tool, and also the sampler tool, which we can use to sample materials and colors from an object and apply them to another object by pressing all or option to toggle between the modes. The Magic Wand tool can be used to select a specific part or specific parts of a model. And in the sampler tool, we can change the motive selection from sample to apply by either again using the keyboard shortcuts or just selecting it here. The four tools below that relate to the camera in other words, the perspective of the scene or object. These include the orbit tool, the pan tool, the Dalai Tool and the Horizon Tool. Instead of adjusting the model or moving the models around in the canvas or rotating and re sizing him and otherwise adjusting him, these tools move our angle of view or perspective of the scene. We'll go over. There's later there are also some camera related options in the top right corner. Here we consume to fit the selection and also undo and redo any camera adjustments that we make to the camera, as we'll see later. And we can add a camera bookmarks to bookmark specific views or perspectives of the scene. Then we can load those later and export um, as images the scene area appear is important to become familiar with, especially once we start adding a model and applying a logo graphic to it. Once we add those elements, they will be listed here as well, almost like a layers panel, but not quite the same. So that's an overview of the workspace and the tools and options we have for setting up our three d space in order place a logo on our model within the environment. In the next video, we'll start adding a three D model here in this space. Thanks 4. Adding and Customizing a 3D Model: Let's go ahead and add a model to the canvas here. Let's make sure that this is starter assets up here and not libraries for this example. And let's click the arrow next to models and or click the Cube here to filter by models. Either way, we could import models from Adobe Stock, but Dimension already has a lot of models included in the Starter Assets area. Let's click a cylindrical e shaped product from the models area to the canvas. I want to use one of these in order show how logo can wrap around a model in Dimension. I will select the round bottle. We can either click and drag it to the canvas or merely click it. The coffee cup would also work for this example, so we can drag it in like that. Or I can just click it either way and let's click and hold on the select tool and noticed. If I select, for example, the move tool. It has different options down here, and if I get a rotate tool, it gives us some rotating options. If I go to scale, tool the same thing and if I move it around on the canvas with the select tool, for example. It will reflect that over here on the position. And if I want to reset that, I can just type in zero enter and then it resets it to the zero point. Just like if we use the rotate tool it would reflect right here is far as the rotation goes under the scene area. Notice that we now have a round bottle listed and it's a group of objects. We have the safety ring, so if I click that, it just selects that we have the bottle and then the lid and I can click the group to select the entire object. So if I wanted to move this around again, I could just click and drag it around. I can move it up with this. Why access the green arrow? And if I want to reset that to the ground plane, for example, if we brought it too low or too high, I could just click this button over here on the actions area moved to ground that will reset it to the ground plane. I can move it along the Z axis X axis and just click and drag it around like that. And if I go to the move tool, I can move that around with that tool as well. And it seems like it's almost the same tool as a selectable. But it's not with the selectable right here. If I click and hold on these circles here, it actually rotates it. Whereas if I have the move tool selected, then it actually just moves it up at that angle. So I can again click moved a ground to reset it there, and I can also go to the rotate tool, and I can rotate it with the Y axis. But it doesn't have any discernable effect because we haven't added graphics to this yet. So it's just rotating Ah, cylindrical object so it doesn't look like it has much of an effect yet. We can also rotate it along the X axis and also the Y axis and also busy excess. I can go to edit, undo. If I want to undo those step by step, or I can click over here and just go to zero type in zero and four rotation as well if I want to reset it as faras position and rotation now, if I go to the scale tool, that gives us some other options. So if I click and hold the green here, that will scale it along the Y axis, so makes it taller or shorter, and I can also make it wider this way. If I hold shift, it will keep it in proportion, though, So if we want to distort it, we could just to make it flatter, more like a canteen. Or we can hold shift if we want to maintain that original ratio. So this scales the wine dizzy. If you hover over, it is should indicate that this scales X and Y and this scales X NZ so we can scale to them at the same time instead of one of the time. If we click and hold onto these areas in between the three access controls. So I'll make this a little bit taller and it looks pretty nice. And if we ever want to delete or move just a specific part of the three D model, we can select it over here in the scene area. So have lid. I could move that off, moving up, down, rotated, resize it, and so on. I'm going to press controller Commands eat, undo, though. Same thing with the bottle. Same thing with the safety ring, and we would just press backspace or delete on the keyboard. If we want to delete one of these, we can also adjust the visibility of it, just like in the Layers panel. In photo shop, we can click this eye icon and that will toggle the visibility of that object. No. One. I select this. It will select the entire group here. But if I didn't want to select the entire group by default, I can click up here and go to Uncheck Group Select. So if I click off here and I just click right here, noticed that now have the bottle highlighted, so by default it should select entire group. But if for some reason it's not, we can make sure it's turned on here by clicking and holding on to the select tool and changing the option here as far as group select. If we had another object here in the canvas, for example, this coffee cup and I wanted to group those too, I can click and drag around them and go to object group or control or command G. We can also click this folder icon and that would group them as well. So now I have a group within a group. As far as the coffee Cup and the round bottle, I'm going to press at undue on. Do we can also go toe object UN group if we want a UN group an object, so experiment with these tools up here again. Hold shift If you want to maintain the original with to height ratio when you're using the scale tool. If you don't want to just scale one specific aspect or two aspects of it, we can rotate. We can move and so on. But again we can reset it back to the zero position and also zero rotation right here if we want. And we can click this to reset it to the ground plane in the next video lesson will be adding a material to the surface of this three d model. Thanks, and I'll see in the next lesson 5. Applying and Customizing a Material on a 3D Model: Now that we have a model here sitting on the ground plane in the campus, let's add a material to the surface of it. And by the way, if you want to save your work so far, do you suggest doing that? Go ahead and go to file, save as and save it as an adobe dimension file. After we add a material, we can then apply our logo to the surface. Now over on the left hand side. Here, make sure the cube is not highlighted like that. Just click that again. So we have nothing highlighted and it should list everything here, and we can click this second. I can hear the materials, or we can expand either of these here adobe, standard materials or substance materials in order to show a specific effect. I'm going to use brushed concrete here under the substance materials. I'm going to change it later, but I just want to show some options. Let's click and drag the material to the model. Now we could also just click it. I'll show you what I mean, if I press control or command Z and this is selected, if I just click it here it will also apply it and applied it to the entire model because we have the entire group selected and we're going to adjust this later. But I just want to show how we can apply these materials and adjust them now over on the right hand side in the scene area. If I click safety ring, for example, it selects trice, the safety ring, bottled or lead and notice. We have an option right here, it says select material. So if I click it bottle, for example, and I click select material, it brings up some options and hear concrete roughness, roughness, variations, how frequently the pattern is repeated and someone we also have technical parameters like luminosity relating delight. In contrast, you shift saturation and so on. Now, whatever changes I make here to the concrete material service will be changed across the board to the other objects in this group because it's linked. So if I didn't want to do that, if I wanted unlike this material to the same material that's applied to the other objects in the same group, I would just click this break linked to material. I will keep it set as the default for now to show what I mean. So I can change these levels here, and you can see it move up and down, left and right as far as X axis and y axis. It's just moving that pattern sideways as far as the offset. We can also change the angle. See how it has a slightly different effect. I'm just clicking and dragging left and right, almost like a scrubby zoom in photo shop, and it adjust that angle. And if I change this, repeat to say five, then you can see the difference there. How? Set it back, toe one and see. It's not repeated often, and if I click this lock icon, it will not constrain proportions. And by default it is constrained. So in other words, if I change this to five, it will change this to five. So the excellent why will stay the same as far as the same proportion to each other and down here, luminosity will change the brightness of it, so it's a lot darker or lighter, So by default I can just set that 2.5. We can also just the contrast, and we can see the effect there and then hue shift. We'll change it. Two different colors and saturation, of course, also called chroma, is how saturated it is. So all the way to the left would be black and white or gray scale, and over on the right would have more of a color to it. So we can adjust that here by using the sliders or weaken type in a value that some of these options will change, depending on what material we have applied. For example, instead of substance materials, let's go to Adobe Standard Materials and let's select glass and I just clicked it and notice it only applied it to this bottle because I only had that selected. So if I cook lid and go say Matt, for example, that will apply it to that, let me go back up here. The me go to safety ring. Unless you're select plastic for that one. So have a plastic safety ring I met lt'd and then a glass bottle. Now it might not look is good in this preview. That's because we don't have a render checked up here, so just click that appear, and that will give us as it says a representation of what our lights, shadows and materials will look like in our final render. So that's closer, what it will look like when we export as an image. For example. Now, if I click the glass bottle here, make sure it's selected. Appeared not just the entire group, and we click here again or says, select material Notice that we now have glow and metallic so we could make this look more metallic, less metallic and then more of a glow to it or less of a glow. And then this also has translucence. So is it 100% translucent or not? Is it more opaque? All right, so we can also adjust index it for a fraction. How light is refracted through it, density and so on and even the interior color. So it depends on what kind of material we have applied. As far as what options will have here in the properties area, if your computer's slowing down or officials taking too long to render, we can uncheck render up there just to have it set to default. For now, now that we've applied some materials to the surface of the model in the next lesson will add a logo graphic 6. Applying Graphics to a 3D Model Product: Now we need to add a background image to the scene and then at a logo graphic to the three D model, we can import images into Adobe Dimension, for example. J. Peg PNG PST files. In other words, Photoshopped files tiff ai or illustrator default file format, or SPG. If we wanted to bring one in, we could just get a file import and then select whatever we want to bring in here. For example, three D model, which are other file formats or images background images light place a material onto the selection or a place or graphic on the model. So if we have a logo, we could place a graphic under the model. If we had some kind of texture, we want a place on a selection. We could use that, or if we took a photo that we want to use as the environment in the background, then we could select it here. But for this example, we can use one of the images that already comes with Adobe Dimension. Right appear we can select this fourth icon images that will filter so that we only see images and then click this down arrow and If that's not checked, not a big deal, it should still be listed. If nothing is highlighted, it's just over here, and we wanna click and drag one of these to the scene. So let's just select this table right here. I think that's the most relevant either this table or this table. So click and drag that over here and notice that it doesn't match up with a ground plane yet. So the ground plane is moving out that way as far as the perspective, the linear perspective. And then this table, though, is moving out this way more so I can click match image right here and leave all this checked as far as resize canvas, create lights and match camera perspective. I'm going to click. OK, then it's figuring it out, and there we go. Now this ground plane matches the surface of this table, and our lights over here are matching the photo and we'll go over lighting Maurin detail later for now because we fix that. It looks like this product is sitting on top of the table so we could present our logo on this product to clients in this hypothetical environment. So let's go ahead and click another graphic onto the bottle. Instead of placing a logo that we've designed. I just want to show some examples. Let's just click and drag one of these over here like air. If I hover over the bottle here, it will place it on it. I click and hold. Drag it onto the bottle, and it's kind of large to begin with so I can click and drag the edge. But that distorts it, You know, sideways. We can also distort it vertically by clicking and dragging one of the top or bottom controls. So instead of distorting it, just hold shift, and it will maintain the original with to height ratio. We can also rotate it right here, and we can also click and drag it around and see how it wraps around the three D model. This is the benefit of using Adobe Dimension were not just placing something on top of it, and it looks unrealistic. It actually conforms to that three D model for when we want to present logos to clients. So once we have that on their, we can adjust it over here as well. If we want. As far as the scale X Y and also the rotation. We can interest the capacity to make it more transparent, more opaque by default. It is that 100% the roughness and metallic quality as well can be adjusted. Let's go ahead and click and drag another graphic onto the bottle so we can select water, for example, and we can resize this. This time I'll click and drag the top one. I'll hold shift, though, to maintain the original proportion, and I'll just layer it over here. And I can also rotate this one as well. If we want notice that it's on top of the graphic that we already placed. That's because it's on top of the other graphic over here on the scene area. This is sort of like the layers panel in photo shop. Not quite the same. But the idea of objects being layered is pretty similar to that. So if I wanted the other object to be above it, as far as this graphic being on top of this graphic, I can just click and drag it above over here in the scene area, and then it places it above it. And of course, If we wanted to delete one of these, we could just click up here and press, delete or backspace. Now let's just say we wanted to add a background graphic to the model, so it's not the background in the environment, but as far as having a texture to this bottle, what we could do is just select one of these over here like the stripes. If I click and drag it onto the model, it's on top by default, so we don't want that. We can just click and drag it below these other graphics, and it doesn't quite fill up the space. Sometimes we do have a label on a package that doesn't cover up the entire product, and that's fine. But for this example, let's just say we wanted it to cover up the entire area. I could click and drag it up, and I can hold shift. If I want to maintain the original with to height ratio and that would cover it up like that, I'm going to press control or command Z to show another way how to do that over here, where it says d cow that and go to fill and that will fill it. And so again, we can still change the offset if we want to adjust that as well, just like a material, and we can also adjust how often it repeats. So we have thinner lines or thicker lines, and I'm just clicking and dragging left and right on these values here. Now we can select these graphics by selecting them in the scene area, but we can also just double click. So if I click once that selects the entire round bottle, if I double click, that selects the graphic here that I was over. So if I double click right here, Adobe Dimension knows that I want to select this graphic here. If I double click right here, then it selects this graphic. So that's another quick way to select these items that have been applied to this product. So that's how we add graphics to a product in order. She's showcase, for example, logos to a client. But in the next video, we are going to use a custom logo, and I will show you how to add it to a C C library in another program and then insert it from C C libraries here in Adobe Dimension 7. Applying a Logo Graphic to a 3D Model: in this video will be going over. How toe place a custom logo onto a product here in the three D environment. So first we can go to Adobe Illustrator and open up one of the support files here on skill share. I have placed these support files under the project area, and these were just some logo ideas I designed for a client and finalized logos and then logo symbol here. Now, if we just insert a file from the hard drive into Dobie Dimension as a graphic on a model, for example, and has multiple art boards like this, this one has eight art boards just to show different ideas to the client. Then what's going to happen is it will only place this first art board onto that model. At least at the time that I'm recording this video. That is how that works, So we want to avoid that. So what we can do is use Adobe CC libraries and place some of these into a custom library, and then we can use them over in Adobe Dimension if we have a file that has multiple art boards because there are no import options like an in design, for example, where we can place specific layers like from photo shop or specific art boards here in Illustrator. So first, let's just simply place this logo symbol over an adobe dimension. We can go to file import place graphic on model, or we can go to you this plus sign right here and then go to import your content and then place graphic on model. Or we can click this bottle over here and then right here where it says select material and then right here, interactions. We can click place graphic on model many ways to do the same thing. But I'm going to select logo symbol here and click open and then it place it on there. Now, I don't need these other default graphics that we practiced with earlier so I can click those in press delete or I can click it and then click this trash can here to delete it either way, and I'm just going to click and delete this graphic here. So with that, we only have this logo here on the glass bottle to keep it simple. Of course, we can rotate it if we want to. We can make it larger or smaller and hold shift if we want to keep the same proportion and it wraps around the bottle like so. So this gives us an opportunity to show clients the logo in hypothetical environment. Now I can click on the bottle, appear and let's say we go to the rotate tool and I can use the green arrow here, the Y axis and rotate the bottle, and we can see that the logo moves around with it. And that's one way to place a custom logo onto an object in Dimension. Now, Like I said earlier in Illustrator, if we have many art boards and these also have the numbers on them as well, so we don't want those when we place it in tow. Adobe Dimension. What we can do instead is use it. Oh, BCC libraries. So I have set up a custom folder here called logo designs. If you want to set up a custom one just goto window, then libraries and adobe illustrator and then click this down there and go to create new library. And so what we can Dio is select one of these all select this one click and drag around it with the selection tool. Then I can click this little plus symbol and then click graphic and then we'll add it as a graphic and this one. What I can do is click and drag it into here. That's another way to add it. And how about this one as well? I'll just say and graphic and a place one more. How about this one here? Graphic. All right, so now I have four logos. I didn't select the number here. The page number of the art board number. I just have the loaders in there and they're now in RCC libraries. So now back in dimension, what I can dio is Go Teoh. Let's just double click this now have the graphic selected. I'll delete that because I want to bring in different logo in here and now. Remember earlier we set this to starter assets. Let's change that toe libraries and then set it to the folder that we just created here as far as our libraries go and what we can do is clicking Dragon on to the product. And of course we can resize it if we want holding shift and we can also rotate it. Let's just say we wanted this to run vertically so I can click and drag to rotate. Arian Hold shift and it will go buy those certain intervals so we know it's perfectly vertical there. So there is one example, so I'll delete that one. Here's another one. I click and drag it over again. We can resize it. And so this is how we bring these logos in in order. Show a client what it looks like on an actual product. Let's just say I wanted to have a couple examples of these for our client with different iterations of the logo. What we can do is select it, make sure round bottles selected. We could go to edit, copy and it paste and then move that one to the side. We can also hold all on the PC or option on the Mac and click and drag, and that will duplicate it just like a lot of other W programs. And so we can have a couple different iterations of this logo if it starts kind of going up and down left and right. That's because I have the select tool selected. I can just reset it there to the ground plane. And then I could just go to move tool. And that will be a little bit easier to move it left and right, because with the select tool again, remember, we can also rotate it, depending on where we're clicking and so on. So if you have trouble with that, just use the move tool. It's a little bit simpler. We can, of course, use the rotate tool, the scale told to resize, and someone I'm going to double click inside. There. Now we have the graphic. I'm going to delete that one and bring this one. We're under this one, and I'm just going to resize it a little bit. I'm gonna rotate that one, actually. And this one, I'll double click, and it will go ahead and move down to this level of the graphic. Aiken, delete that one. And for this one, I will bring in this logo. I want to make that a little bit smaller, and in this one, I'll double click delete, and I'll finally bring in this one here, and I'm actually gonna turn this one for this example. All right, so we have four different bottles for different Liudas to give the client an idea of how the logo that you designed for them will look in an environmental space on a product. In the next video, we'll be going over camera tools and how that could be useful. And then we'll be going over lighting before we go over rendering where we will be able to take some of these views and export them as restaurant images. Thanks. 8. Adjusting Cameras and Adding Camera Bookmarks: There are four camera tools over here, and they all do different things as far as our perspective of the scene here. So if we click up here where it says orbit tool, there are a couple different options. So the default is where we can orbit the camera horizontally and vertically, But we can set that toe Onley horizontally or only vertically, so we need to be careful with the orbit tool. If I click and drag here, noticed that the alignment with the background image doesn't work anymore. See, we're above it and they were below, and the image doesn't move with it. So I'm going to press undo, appear in the top right corner. We don't go to edit undo to undo a camera action. We actually click it up there so there's camera redo in camera. Undo. So let's click and hold on to the orbit tool and go to the orbit camera horizontally option . And from there we can click and drag and just turn it around like that. And if I want to save this view, we can go up here and click that were says camera bookmarks. So I'm going to click this little plus sign. And what that does is it creates a new camera bookmark from this view. We'll call this behind the products and I'm going to go to camera. Undo, and I'm going to use that this as a camera look mark, and I'll just call it in front of their products so we can access those anytime by clicking on them here. And if we want to overwrite one of those, we can click this little refresh symbol here. And that just means that whatever angle of view that we have, it's going to set this to that current view that we have. And we can also delete camera bookmarks right here if we want as well. If I click and hold on to the orbit tool ganna go to orbit camera vertically. This, of course, just goes vertically, weaken go above it and below. And this could be very useful when we want to show products with locals on it at different angles. But for this one, I actually want to keep it at the earlier angle because we already have that background image in there. So I'm going to click camera undo Below. That is the pan tool. Now the pan tool does not zoom in or out. We just click and drag up and down like that. We can go below the ground plane and above it, and we can also go left and right so we can move the entire ground plane. And not just the products but the products and the grand plane there in other words, the three D models and all the materials on them and the ground plane around like that. So if I want to undo, so I just go to you, Cameron do and then Cameron do again. Below that is the dollar tool. And if you're familiar with filmmaking, you probably know what this is. Already. We can just move in or out. So the 1st 1 is toward the mouse cursor and away from the center of the screen. And the 2nd 1 is the dolly moves toward and away from the mouse cursor itself. And then the other one is Dollar uses the center of the screen. So if I click and drag in and out here, you can see the effect, and I'm going to go to Cameron. Do if we go to you 2nd 1 It's a slightly different effect, and I'm going to undo that one and the 3rd 1 It goes toward the center of the screen and were underneath the plane there. Then we're above the ground plane, so that's just zooming in and out as far as our view goes, So I'm going to undo that now. Right below that is the horizon tool and just like the first tool up here as far as the camera group, the orbit tool, the default combines these two. So by default we're turning and either raising and lowering the hammer. The other one just turns the camera and the other one just raises or lowers the camera. So I'll show you what I mean. If I just click and click and drag, we can move our view toe below the ground plane and above it, and we can also adjust where the horizon line is right here like that. I'm going to undo and undo. Now, this other one here turned camera. All it does is almost like the pan, but it's not quite the same thing because you can see it's rotating a little bit, but not too much. See the shadow there it's changing a little bit, is turning a little bit. So it's not the same thing. Is the pan, for example? And if I go to raise lower camera, click and drag, it's not quite the same thing as panning, and I can move. The horizon line is well with it if I click right over it. So I'm going to undo that now when we have the pan tool. Just a quick tip here if I move in this around and I pressed the right mouse button that will toggle to the orbit tool there specifically, whichever one is selected. So I'm going to undo that nephew make ah, slight adjustment here. Let's just say, for example, we pan over a little bit like that. We can click up here and go to zoom to fit selection, and that will zoom so that these objects are in the frame like that. If we don't like that again, we can go back and then go back again to our original layout. As long as we click up here, Cameron do, instead of edit, undo. And while we're talking about camera tools here, over on the right hand side. There is also a field of view, and that can be adjusted here just using the slider without having to select any of the camera tools. So this affects our field of view as faras. For example, if your photographer and you're using a wide angle lens compared to a telephoto lens, it will have a different field of view. So I'm going to undo that. So that's how we change our perspective of the scene. Instead of just moving the elements within the scene so we can move the ground plane, we can move our cameras around. It changes at what angle we're looking at the scene and how close to the scene we are or how far away from the scene we are. We can affect that with these camera tools and options. 9. Adding Lighting Schemes and Adjusting Lighting: in this video will be going over lighting in Adobe Dimension so we can properly light the products that we've put our logos on two so the client can see them in the best light possible. So remember when we change the background to that image, we clicked Match image and right here says, Create lights, multiple lights. And that's where we also resize the campus and match the camera perspective well up under seen here. If you click up here and click onto environment, we haven't environmental light here environment light, and we can adjust the intensity right back and forth. I can press controller community to undo. We can change the rotation, and if we click on that, we can see it looks like our photo kind of, but not quite. It's almost like a duplicate. Where has a mirror image of the chair there? And so it has set up a lighting scheme based on that photo. Now we can go to directional light and adjust the intensity just of that directional light . We can see the difference there. If it's too harsh, we can, you know, move it over to the left and right. We can also change the rotation, and it changes where the shadows are. Of course, I'm going to press control or command Z to undo, and we can also change the height, how high up that light is, and then even the shape. So Circle Square and other settings here, such a size and the softness of the edge. So if we want to address the visibility of these lights, we can click the I icon just like in photo shop. If we click the I icon next to a layer, it toggles its visibility. So this one has three directional lights and an environment light. But we can adjust this as well if we don't want to base the lighting off the photo. I do suggest doing that, but if you don't have a photo background, if you just have a color or a Grady int, or maybe you just want to adjust the lighting a little bit more, we can go over here under starter assets. Make sure it doesn't say libraries. It has starter assets because Adobe Dimension comes with some ready made lights that we can use. We can click this lights icon. It looks like a son right there to filter only to the lights. Or we can just expand the arrows there. So we have directional lights like Circle Square Son and three Point, and we have environment lights. So studio lighting and so on. So sunrise campsite. So if I click that it will apply and it looks like the light is just coming in in the morning in this cafe, as we can see here, doesn't quite match up the background, though, but you can address the intensity in the rotation and even colorize it as well if we wanted to. So I'm going to go to edit, Undo to you undo adding that light so we can experiment with that and check out these different lighting setups as far studio lights. And we can also get a directional lights, say I click on Sun and actually adds this appeared instead of environmental light or directional lights, even though it's categorized over here as a directional light over here, it just says son, and we can adjust the a pastie, of course, but we can also adjust the intensity how bright it is, and the rotation in the height. How high up in the sky. It is in relation to our products. Cloudy, mistress means Will we have harsh shadows or more subtle shadows? See, if I goto 0% we can see the shadow behind it there. It's a little bit more defined, and then we can go over to the right. It's more diffused. So if you think of a light diffuser in photography, it's the same idea. So we get harsher shadows more clearly defined shadows with 0% cloudiness. And as we increase that, it diffuses that light, so we compress controller commands. Eaton do that now. If I click for example, circle light. It adds 1/4 light down here. So now we have four directional lights. If we click three point light, then we have a key light, a fill light and a backlight. So the backlight is, of course, in the back, and the fill light is meant to fill up those dark areas. For example, in portrait photography, when a person has harsh shadows from the key light or another light on their face, we have a feel like to fill up some of those areas on the face, so it's more of a diffused light on the subject's face. It's all press controller. Come in, seed, undo. So now that we've applied different iterations of the logos to these products, we can move them around if we need. For example, if we want to center these a little bit more, we can use, for example, the move tool or the select tool. And I can just click and drag that over a little bit, and I can just click and drag this over a little bit now. Earlier, I talked about how you can also rotate it with, for example, the select tool by clicking here like so. So if you want something a little bit simpler again, you can go to the move tool, but also a tip. If you use these arrows, it's going to only go along that grid there that access. So what you can do is just click that green right there and then it won't go up and down. It's on Lee going along the ground plane there, since we already have it aligned to the ground plane. So just use this green here, not the screen here. That'll move it up and down, of course. So if you just click right onto it. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it kind of moves all around the place. So instead, just click this green right there and then we can really adjust that. All right, so maybe we don't want these all lined up. Maybe you want them one behind the other like that. We could do something like that. And so once we have this set up, how we want them to look, we can go ahead and render it, and we'll be doing that in the next lesson. 10. Rendering to PNG or PSD Images for Logo Presentation: so in this video will go over how to render these three D scenes into two D images that we can use then to present toe clients so we can adjust this if we want. For example, with this one, I actually think I'm going toe line them up again. So I'll take them, move tool here and click and drag. He's just so that we can somewhat line these up in a row. And so once you have your image set up, how you like it in the space we can go to render in the top left hand corner here. Now, there some options over here on the right so we can tell Adobe Dimension to either export for this example three different files if we click all, or I can set it just to export current view or, for example, the two camera views that we said it too. So if you haven't added any camera bookmarks, then you probably have current view. So whatever the scene looks like, here is how it will be rendered. Now, if we did add camera bookmarks again appear, then it should list them right here. So I'm going to set this to behind the products and in front of the products. We can set the file name here, and then we can tell Adobe Dimension either to set it too low quality, which has a faster render time, a medium and then high quality, which has the slowest rendering time. So it will take longer to render that file. And if we want a layered file, we can set it to PST default. Photoshopped file either 16 bits or 32 bits, so this has a higher dynamic range in between complete white and complete black as faras tonality and different colors. But honestly, 16 bits should be fine and P and G. We consider, too, that we just want to have a flat image that will be a lot smaller as far as file size than the PST. And we can click here and set the folder where these files would be exported to. Now I have rendered a few files already to show fear, and I have three PST files, so this one was high quality. It was 41.3 megabytes and then the low quality was 39 megabytes. In the medium, quality was 41.2. So not a very significant difference as faras hard drive space or space on the cloud. But one is a lot higher quality than, for example, the low quality one and then with the PNG files. The high quality file is 1.19 megabytes, and the low quality is 1.4 megabytes. So it's actually a larger file for the low quality version of it, and the medium quality is 1.19 So if I just click on the high quality here, we can look at the difference. This is the high quality P and G, and then the low quality has this kind of green here almost looks like J. Peg artifact ing. Um, not really picks elation, but it's just a little bit of a grain or noise, and it's just not as high of a quality as far as the image goes, and the medium is kind of in between those two. So there's more image differentiation in this example, as far as the texture on the four bottles in the low quality version compared to the high quality. So the high quality version actually takes up less space as faras memory, but it takes a little bit longer to render, so some people will render the low quality out first just to see what it looks like. Or, of course, you can preview it like I showed earlier with the preview button. But it helps. Sometimes you render it first as a low quality file, then it doesn't take a very long time to render in case we just want to preview what the overall image looks like. And then once we are satisfied with the lighting levels, have it looks like after we rendered it, then we can set it too high quality. So in Adobe Dimension, I'm going to set this to high quality and then behind the products and in front of the products and then logo presentation is fine, and I'm going to set it to PST. We can't export a PNG and a PST if we want, but I'm just going to set it to you PST for this example. So I'll go ahead and click render, and then I'm not going to you sit here and just show the screen while it renders. I'm going to you skip this part as it renders so we don't take up video time for that. So I'll skip ahead to it finally being rendered and then I'll show you some edits we can make in photo shop. 11. Edits of Logo Presentation in Photoshop: So once we've rendered our files, we can click here to you edit in Photoshop or open and Folder. Or, of course, we can navigate to our folder that exported to you and open these up in photo shop. So I opened up this one here logo presentation with the front view in Photoshop and here in photo shop. If this is the PNG file, it's just one background layer. For example, this is the PNG file, and it's just the background that could be embedded on a Web page if representing the logo on a Web page or for a portfolio. But we also have the PST file here and has layers. So this is the layers panel. If you don't have that, just got a window, make sure layers is checked and I'm going to just the visibility of some of these. So if I uncheck reduced noise layer here as far as the rendered image and then back her own image and we just have a background color so I'll uncheck that and I'll go. Teoh rendered image reduced the noise, and this is pretty neat because we have this on its own layer so we can add a different background in photo shop, even if we wanted to, and we have the rendered image. And then there's a version that has reduced noise. So depending on which one we want to use their and we can just at the background and if we want or we can have just a simple white background. So if we want a different background, I can click. Create new layer dragon below this layer in the layers panel and I have a foreground color here. I can click that and select a foreground color if we want click. OK, there's a background color as well. But if we press all on the PC or option on the Mac and backspace or delete that will fill that layer with that color that we had selected here in the Layers panel, that was the new layer. If we press control on the PC Air Command on the Mac in backspace or delete, that will fill it with whatever the background colors currently set to. So that's pretty Nida's. Well, we could add some locals that we have designed onto products, and then we can render them to you an image that we can save as a J Peg or a PNG file and added to a website portfolio. We could list the client name and the color scheme that we used and that it was a logo design for the client on a website portfolio, for example. Now, of course, we can set it to the default here with a background image, background color rendered image with reduced noise. But there's another folder appear of layers, so we have materials, selection masks, object selection masks and then depth information. So I will just talking the visibility of these so we can just see this. So this is reflected as far as the depth. You know, the focal point, the depth of field, and so it's lightly gets darker in the background, and that's later here. And then it's light here as well, and we also have objects lecture, mess. So these air useful If we wanted to select one of those images pretty quickly, and there's material, but we have material on all of these, so there's look similar. So let's just say we have object selection masks and I use the object selection tool here and click and drag around one of these and it selects this entire area. Of course, I could just select the bottle if I want or the entire object there. And if I turn this rendered image back on and uncheck or turn off the visibility of these ones up here now we have this selected. So what we could do and that will work often with these tools as well. Like object selection tool. Quick selection will. But just in case this has a more defined edge. All right, so it's pretty useful, and then we could adjust it. We get add an adjustment layer, or we could go to image adjustments and adjusted here if you wanted to. You change the hue or saturation and someone I'm going to hit. Cancel, though, So I'm going to de select. We can just go toe controller, command D or just de select up there. So we have rendered image here, which represents products here and the locals that we placed on top. I can add, for example, on adjustment layer right here. We can either go to layer a new adjustment layer and selected here, or click down at the bottom here and then go to for example, curves and we can set the white point of the dark point. I think this looks okay, though, but you could make it pop out a little bit more notice. That changes the entire scene, though Now, if we want it, Teoh Onley affect the layer right here below it instead of everything, including the background image. We can clip that to this layer by either holding older option on the keyboard and just hovering in between the two clicking it like that. Or I'm going to undo that down here in the properties panel, either now under window and then properties or when we're first applying it. Or if this wasn't open, I could just double click it here. And it's a live effect here because it's an adjustment layer and right here, this symbol that just clips it. So now it's on Lee going to effect this layer right below it, so it's kind of like a clipping mask, basically so Onley. These four bottles and the logo's on top of them are on this layer, so this adjustment layers on Lee going Teoh effect this layer right here. And so if we want to adjust that. Of course, we can double click on it still and adjust it as we want. So this shows that many possibilities we have for logo design presentation. Even after we've designed it in Adobe Illustrator, we can add logos to products in Adobe Dimension, and then we can render those scenes as PST or PNG files is still make adjustments in Photoshop. After we're done making adjustments, we would just want to go to file, Save As and save a PST file for our own records. And so we have a file that has layers and these effects applied here that we can adjust later if needed. And we also want to goto file, save as and save it as a PNG file or a J peg. If we want tohave just a simple, flattened raster image that we can present to clients on a Web page, for example. Or, of course, we can print it to you really nice quality paper and presented to the client in person. So hopefully this has been helpful and informative. Thanks
