About This Class

thought i would throw together a quick video about the wonderful logitech c920 webcam.  i've been using this webcam for well over two years with my mac and with the right tuning software (you have to pay for it) you can get good results in all your favorite video chat and recording applications.

this super short video will give you the headsup about the software i use and how to tinker around to get the right settings which you can then save as a profile. thanks for everyone signing up to my courses so far, i'm starting to get into a routine with making them even on limited time (i only have a three hour window in the morning to get them done right now)

1. 1.0 - introduction: this course is around 20 minutes. Hi there. And welcome to my new courses for the Logitech C 9 20 It's a great Web camera. Been using enough two years. Is the first Logitech Webcam that has the tripod adapter into the soil fit most tripods. We're gonna be using an application for setting the Webcam settings on a map. Sorry, this course is not the universal for PC as well. I'm sure you'll find some great courses out there on YouTube for setting you up with a PC. We're gonna be looking at the Web cap settings from Maura stop blocks. What dot co dot UK? It is not a free app, but I find that over last couple years it's been worth every penny. We're also gonna be looking at setting up two different features of it. The main feature. And it is the profile settings in terms of finding the sweet spot with your camera for the for the area that you are. For instance, I'm in front of my webcam, could be in front of my window, or it could be a night vision shot, and you can save those profiles every time you load this out. Tell me, Load your Mac. It comes upon loads that profile. So it's just perfect every time, So let's get into it. 2. 1.1 - looking at webcam settings: All right, so I want to take a look at this Web cam settings 2.3 on the Mac App store, which I've been using now for probably well over two years. It's a fantastic piece of software. It should actually come with the camera, a decent dashboard settings, but it doesn't. So I did a bit of digging around and found found this Webcam settings on the Mac App store , and it's $7. 99 that works out about £5.50 so expensive for what it is, which is just a dashboard to be able to do different settings for face time, photo booth, Skype, whatever made all the difference between getting rid off some Flicka. And I'm gonna show you that. Now you can see here. I've got a quick time player instance of other nephews. Quick time player. But you can do new movie recording so you can record straight from a Webcam new audio recording, which is great for podcasting and a new screen recording. You can see that I'm using the hasty pro webcam seen 90 musing that Mike and the quality is maximum. You might be out of C. I mean Obviously you can see all the shadow behind me, so I don't have a fill light above me. But also, you might be able to see the flickering as well. So I'm gonna quickly go through some of the settings and just let the camera, and you'll instantly see that it remove. I just me selected in camera. It removed all the flicker in the background on the settings, look pretty good. And that's because when I selected my camera also loaded this profile, and I have lots of different profiles that I've made for different areas off Caravan. So when I'm sitting opposite the green screen or have this setting when I'm sitting in the window, have another setting. When it's dark and the lights on, I have this kind of night vision set in, which blows it all out. But if I turn the lights off setting here, you can see it's like a night vision thing. So if I turn that back off and going to the green screen to the Little Star beside, it means that whenever I load the application it loads. This is the default profile. It takes a little bit of messing around to get the exact quality that you want. The exact shot that you think is bright enough got good contrast. Good saturation, good sharpness. And you can jack these open and test them and save. You can either save it as a new or profile, or you can update the existing profile. So I use manual out of all the settings I used manual on, I tend to mess around with this exposure time. You can see that the refresh rate in the background is affected when I use the exposure time. So I kept on increasing that until I couldn't see anymore. It may be still visible, but when I'm recording content considered on, this is pretty much my sweet spot. Now this profile that I've got I don't use advanced very often. I don't use any of the led stuff. Don't use any of the zoom stuff, but it's fairly straightforward. You put in a setting, it zooms it in. You can move around with the panna till, based on that, I always have that back is normal. He can turn the led on or off auto, if you want to just have it kind of stealth. The camera on but not showing that it's on. You can turn the led off on the preferences panel. I rarely use this. I did try and tinker with this, thinking that it it was updating the camera was setting. But I very rarely use that setting. The basic panel with just these settings is perfect. If I bring up my wire cast, there you go. So, as you can see, even with my shadows behind me there on either side of a lot like I've got like angel wings , even though they're there on why I cast is not picking them up, it's picking up the green with shades of green. Why cast is really good at picking out any kind of green, even if its light or poorly lit like this is poorly lit up the ideal. If I come forward, the shadows disappear. And ideally, what I need is another light above me, a feel like to get rid of that on the green screen. Webcam settings really helps with setting things up. If I mess around with any of these controls, maybe not the game, but maybe exposure. What you can see is a screen creeping in around the edge. You never have it this high anyway. But maybe contrast. I take the contrast down. You can see that it really picks up because it's badly lit behind me. But it took me a bit of time of tinkering, but you tinker with the you tinker with the webcam settings first. Before you start going into a program like Skype or FaceTime or anything like that, you get it working to the best of your eye. You know, in terms of the contrast in the brightness before you go into another app like why cast to do any green screen stuff because you can be trying to get it right. Aled Day using this chroma key by setting these settings. If this is if this is wrong over here, the brightness is wrong. It'll be near on impossible to set this right in here. So that's what I'm saying, basically, is to get this to get this right first and then it's easier. Go to your defaults of what you have before. So that's it. Really. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up on this. If you are a C 9 20 owner, you're thinking of getting a Web camera. You thinking about recording your own courses? These are a really reasonable price, I think. Fairly high quality camera around £50 in the UK This is the first Logitech camera that has a adapter underneath for a tripod. And so I have three or four of these cameras, which I've used on why cast before inputs. But this app, I think, is worth it's money. I've been using it now for two years, playing around with the exposure setting and the gain setting is the crucial bits. And then it's just tinkering with the brightness in the contrast and then saving that profile. Make sure that you save that profile when you've changed in new settings that way, that when you load when you load you can you can click on a profile. And now it's highlighted that it says loaded Start. Now, the reason why it doesn't say that on the Star one is because that's the one I've start to load. It starts, or whenever I load my magnet loads webcam settings, it loads this profile, which I I know This is the perfect profile for sitting in front of this screen perfect for face time, perfect for Skype and perfect for recording in Wired cast. That was useful. I know it was a really, really quick course. There is some more advanced courses coming. I just really wanted to get this little Webcam course out there because I think a lot of people don't know about this Webcam Settings panel on, but it's a great little app. 3. 1.2 - lighting, cameras and profiles OH MY!: so the Logitech camera works really well when you have decent lighting. I don't have decent lighting in terms of my fill light, so I get all the shadows behind me. Using webcam settings, I can get rid of some of that. Some of those issues also using wire Castella stream. I can get my gentle locking working really well with using combination of the two. I need to use Webcams settings 1st 0 and you should really concentrate your profile there before messing around with any green screen or anything like that in any other app. So I've used three of the C nine twenties on My Mac, but I ran into problems when I used for used to have three to set up his different shots like a close shot, a wide shot and also on a product. And it worked really well in white cast. The only problem I had is that it ran out of USB ban way after three. I'm really looking forward to the day that Logitech release a USB 34 K enabled camera. Even at this price there, an absolute steal storing profiles is absolutely the way to go with this being elbow toe. Open up. Your Mac have the settings perfect for the area that you're sitting in. You might have different places in and around your studio, your house or your flat enough to set the profile exactly for the area. Admittedly, light changes, but if you have a baseline to work from, it makes things so much faster. 4. 1.3 - the roundup : Hopefully, you enjoyed that many course. I know it was super quick, but lots of people have been asking me about how I set up my green screen and me coming down to talking about the seed 9 20 Webcam settings, So hopefully this will have your C 9 20 running super Awesome. Please share my courses. It really helps me not only bring some residual income in for me to actually do the courses brings me a little bit of money by extra kits, and I think it's an absolute steal. Skill shares one of the best ones that I've seen. Where for 99 cents, which is 68 pence. 66 rube like it like a euro. You get three months access. You get 90 days access to premium content on skill shown. I think you can't find anything better than that on the Web. When it comes to online courses just taking out for three months, you support my courses by each one that you take. I get a small snippet of money for each one that you taken watch. You just keep on getting updates as I add, new ones were also now doing Patri on. We've just started on Patriarch gonna be hitting the road in the next six months and we're gonna be doing a lot more content from the road. So we set up the patron to help with all the expenses traveling and fuel and Internet connection things that are going to go up because we're in transit so I can check that out . Patron dot com for its elasticity if you're interested in seeing the daily video blocks from us. And, yes, my headphones just fell out. I'm not recording us again. Or did it twice already. Got your resume back, back, back. 5. 1.4 - BONUS - the future of logitech webcams?: It just is a bit of a bonus, I thought would have a dig around the logic, that website to see if they've got any new cameras, and I find it kind of weird that their flagship is still the 9 20 So I kind of dug down into their menus for business webcams, and it looks like they've got another camera called the C 9 20 C, which I'd never heard of before. So I click through on that. All it is is designed exclusively for Cisco, so it's mainly for teleconferencing. So if you've got more than one person on the screen on, this one works at 78 degrees field of view. So I want to did a little bit of digging, and you can get it some reason. It's not listed as a C but is listed as a 9 60 000945 on the £82 it turns out that these have been out for like, a year. Andi, I don't know if I'd use the extra wide nous of it. I guess I might use the the the extra viewing angle outside if I was using this Destry maybe instead of it being so closed. And then I went to have a look at a review online of this guy who's had it for over a year , like nearly over year. Yeah, and they want to turn the sound down. But I just want to show you something that's obvious about obviously you've got a lot Mawr space here. Onda. He hasn't really set this up was very blue, but you'll notice is well that the camera occasionally will try and zoom in and out on. Also, it will have kind of blurring issues. You can get rid of most of that stuff with that, their bank. Did you just say it zoomed in and out? The auto focus is trying to to compensate, and I don't like it on the videos tonight again. There you can. You can change that with webcam settings. You can make it manual so it doesn't track. It just locks the screen, which I think is really good. But I do like this extra viewing angle is kind of nice. I might have to pick one up and ever play with that. Just wanted to mention it. That's their newest one. That they've got, which is the Logitech C 9 20 c. But I'm really waiting for a A full four K USB three camera from Logitech. I just find them so much easier to be able to just drop in a USB instead of having toe have , you know, a video card and all that sort of stuff I could just connected in. And if I get a decent gaming laptop, I should be able to shoot four K in the van when we're on the road without having additional extra imports. So keeping the low down while we're traveling anyway, just that I took that it is a bit of a bonus just 6. 1.5 - don't forget to tweet and share!: while I have you enjoyed the course, Please share and review the course.
