Project Description

bcee783b

Now that you have words and ideas to pick out and describe the work and world around you, let's start looking around with fresh eyes! The class project is simple but so stinkin' effective: I'd like you to pick 3 elements and/or principles and go on a scavenger hunt for them. Look everywhere! In our digital age it's certainly easy (and convenient) to use online galleries like Pinterest (which is totally what I did for my project), but don't forget about flea markets, your closet, art galleries, the wrapping paper section at the grocery store, and even your kids' toybox for items that catch your eye. Ask yourself what you like or find interesting about it, or what you don't enjoy about it. Try to use as much of your new vocabulary as you can, as it'll start to become a helpful habit. Document your findings and observations in your class project; take it one step further by experimenting on your own with line, color, balance, or whatever combination of 3 elements and principles you choose.

Need help getting started? Check out my example project for ideas. To keep it simple, I stuck to Pinterest and chose 3 elements (line, color, and shape), as I find it easier to talk about the principles in relation to the elements, and not always the other way around.
