Project Description

Hand-letter the name of your hometown in monoline style.

ASSIGNMENT

Design a piece of monoline lettering signifying where you're from (could be your hometown, neighborhood, city, or country).

Remember, monoline lettering has uniform line thickness throughout the pen stroke — no varying thicks and thins like traditional calligraphy.

Feel free to use whatever tools you'd like! Sharpie, Krink, etc. I've listed my favorite markers in the Resources section below.

Also, cheap folders are a great way to create a shiny surface in your finished piece.

DELIVERABLE

Share your project in the gallery! It should be a hand-lettered wordmark of your city name.

Your project could include:

  • Sketches (pencil)
  • Drawings (pen or marker)
  • Finished Piece (photographed / edited)

Here's my sample project for inspiration, and a few more examples below.

Don't wait to upload your project all at once! Dive in, ask me questions for feedback, and update your design over time.
