1. An Introduction To The Course.. Let's Build An E-Commerce Store With WooCommerce And WordPress!: Hello, everybody. And welcome to this course on Wu Commerce and WordPress. My name is Mike knows, and I'm delighted that you're here joining me in this course. I have been an online instructor for many years and I have over seven 1000 students taking my courses online, which is astounding. I personally have content marketing and direct response cooperating specialist certifications from digital marketer. And I have personally built dozens of websites and e commerce stores using WordPress, Woo, Commerce, Shopify and Squarespace. So this course is about building an e commerce store powered by WordPress and woo commerce . Now, what exactly is wordpress? Well, WORDPRESS is one of the largest site builders in the entire world. And because one of the biggest it has many has thousands of plug ins and applications available for it, including who? Commerce, and it is open source software. So it means anybody can use it and build customized websites as they want. So having said that, what is woo commerce? Well, woo commerce is the main free software that can be used on the WordPress platform. And because WORDPRESS is one of the biggest platforms in the world, woo commerce is used by nearly 30% of all the Web stores on the Internet, making it one of, if not the biggest e commerce platforms in the world. So in this course, we are going to walk through the introductory steps of setting up WordPress and mu commerce . Watch over my shoulder as I register and install WordPress and woo commerce. We're gonna walk through the basics of the WordPress dashboard. We're gonna install a storefront and set up initial settings. We're gonna have products to the store. We're gonna customize this door with some great initial plug ins and more. So I am delighted and excited to see you on the inside. Let's get started building our own e commerce platform and store today. 2. Register And Add Wordpress To Your Domain Name: Hello, everybody, and welcome back. As I briefly discussed in the first lecture of this course, there is a difference between wordpress dot com and wordpress dot org's. And I just want to pull up a brief synopsis and review of the two, um, differing options available to you. You can use woo commerce on both platforms. The difference being that wordpress dot com is their commercial. They host everything option for you in the wordpress dot org's. If you happen to use that platform, you would do the hosting, and you would do that kind of stuff separate from the actual WordPress program itself. You can see, for instance, the wordpress dot or gives you full control of your website. Whereas wordpress dot com might be a little bit easier for beginners to use because it lets you build a website quickly. There is 100% free plan. You know you can add a domain name actually gonna domain name and either option. Um, but wordpress dot com is going to host as I mentioned everything for you. Um, whereas wordpress dot or gyu would by hosting, and then you would download and use WordPress separately. So for the purpose of this course. I am using the and using the wordpress dot org's approach because I already pay a monthly hosting plan and I have a hosting set up through a host Gator. I can therefore add my domain names and I can register them through host Gator, and they'll do all the hosting and all that kind of stuff and what I'll show you here in just a second is my control panel that I have with Host Gator. And I can add things like WordPress and I'm, you know, use different kind of site builders if I want and do all sorts of interesting things through the control panel and the you know, the separate or pressed out or approach. So either way, what you're gonna do is if you decide to use a wordpress dot com approach where they would host everything for you, just simply go to wordpress dot com. You would read your story. Actually, you start with a free plan. They give you a free domain name. You know it is a it is something like your domain dot wordpress dot com. And if you want to end up purchasing a domain name. You know, there's a 12 or $15 fee. Um, and you have about an $80 a month charge on top of that toe host through a WordPress. Um, you know, whereas again I'm I'm using wordpress dot org's. And, um, it is around the same prices run, maybe $10 a month. And, um but the options I have there is I can add quickly. I cannot sub domains and I can register domain names and stuff through that. Um, so anyway, I'm gonna pull up my host Gator control panel and once you register, if you decided to go through the you know the third party process of adding WordPress to your website through like something like host, Gator or Blue host or go Daddy or hosting her, There's a whole bunch of different options out there. You'll come across, and those eventually get you to your control panel. It will have similar options that you can see here, for instance. You know, I just, like, logged in, and I've got all the popular links here. I've got a website builder. I've got my WordPress installer right here that I'm going to, um, use here in just a moment to add it to a domain name. I have, you know, the file manager is So I could do some customization and and things like that if you have a developer or you do that kind of stuff yourself, Um, you know, we have different options available different special offers, you know, your file managers and stuff like that. So I have set up and I've pre made, actually, for this course, I'm going to use a sub domain on an existing domain name I already own and use. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go to WordPress is solar. And if you again, if you use host Gator or use some other kind of hosting platform, the process is going to be very similar. If you end up using wordpress dot com again, you would start with a free domain name and they will get you right into WordPress itself. Whereas here I have to, as I mentioned, have to add a WordPress to a domain name that I have purchased separately. So I am going to use something called a storefront that Michael knows dot com and I just find it next and what you want to do here is and in your blog's title and the men user First name, last name and email. So I was gonna do that here. So this is, uh, the best. And you can I could change us in WordPress e commerce store, and I'm gonna have ah, men user. My first name, last name and my email address. So I am going to and that there and I'm goingto automatically create a new database for this installation. I'm gonna agree to the terms of service, and I'm gonna hit install. You can see WordPress is installing here, and you can see that the installation is complete. It took a matter of seconds. Here's my installation details. Right. So it's been installed to storefront. Michael knows dot com, which again is just made for the purpose of this course. Um, I don't I intend and plan to use this for anything other than building this course for you , but feel free to check it out. You can see where it sits at the end of the course. Um, well, you want to do is make sure you copy down this at men and especially this password because you need this information toe log in. So I'm just gonna simply copy that. And, uh, I'm gonna go to log in, and here I am. And when you get to your wordpress, it'll direct you to a log in page. And as I mentioned my admit name there and my password, and once I'm in here, I'm actually going to go ahead and change that password. Um, what I can do is I could actually save it here because I'm using chrome. Um, so I could do that. So they're going to send me a email addresses it because the first time I've ever logged in to this domain name and here we are. So I am in my dashboard. So in the next lecture, I'd like to go through the the whole what dashboard you see here and walk through the first steps. We need to get woo commerce on our WordPress site. So let's do that here in the next lecture 3. A Quick Look At The Wordpress Dashboard: Hello, everybody. And welcome back. So we are here in our WordPress dashboard. We've just added WordPress to that domain name. So I want to take a quick walk through of what we get here when we first log into our dashboard and just kind of give you a quick overview of the whole who commerce, um, and WordPress look and feel when you log in to your WordPress site on you want to start editing with commerce, you're still gonna come to this home dashboard page. So anyway, you can see here on the left they've got everything pretty well laid out for you. You know, you have your dashboard here at the top and there's some updates already available, and you can see that there's actually updates up here as well, which I will update here in just a moment there to plug and updates. It says jetpack is a kind of pre set are predetermined software package from wordpress that they have. It has a bunch of useful features in it, like anti spam and different things like, um, website, traffic details and things like that. The next one down here is post. So when you're building your Wu commerce site and you wanna have maybe some block post or something like that. You can go here and you look at all your posts or a new You can create different categories and tags if you want for your posts. Media is where you can upload. You know, multiple images if you want of your products. Um, pages is if you're editing like a home page or, um, you know, various things like privacy policy and things like that. Comments. If anyone's left, any comments on your posts or products or anything like that were pressed forms or different forms that they have, they can add into your website in various places. Ah, marketplace is where you can buy different plug ins and stuff like that. Um, and appearance. You can edit your appearance of the website. You can customize different things. Your menus and widgets plug ins is actually where we're gonna find our woo commerce plug in here in just a moment. Users pretty self explanatory the different people that can use the website that you set up . I'm gonna use this here in just a moment to edit that at men user I profile I had made different tools that you have here and settings for your website and and things like that. So, um, I am going Teoh quickly change my user name A zai mentioned I set up at men user name when I installed WordPress. You can see it here and simply just edit that and what you can do is scroll down to the bottom here and generate new password. And I'm going Teoh, just generate a, um, password and hit update. And I could do different personalization options if I want with that user. And it's here that I can add new users like if I want to add a developer to be able to, um, you know, make edits and changes on my WordPress site or, you know, you have different team members and self that you can have them in here, and they all have their own unique, you know, roll and log in information and all that kind of stuff. So now that I have changed my ad men password, the first thing I want to do in the most important thing in terms of this course is to actually go and add through commerce to my website. So let's do that here. We're just gonna go to plug ins. Mm, we're here. We're gonna go to add new, and I'm gonna scroll down and actually just simply type in lieu commerce And what commerce is going to be the first option here that you can see pops up. Commerce is a flexible, open source e commerce solution built on WordPress. And I'm gonna hit install now because that's what we want to do for this course. And once it's installing and hit activity and once they hit that activation button, you are taken to the Wu commerce editing and store set up pages. And so let's quickly work through those and the next lecture. 4. The Initial Woocommerce Settings: Hello, everybody. And welcome back. So we have just added the Wu Commerz plug in to our WordPress site and we have a few steps to walk through initially to set up our woo commerce store. So the 1st 1 you can see here is store set up and what you want do is where is your store base? You can set it to wherever you want. I do Canada because that's where I am. You don't have to put in an address if you don't want to. I was just doing X if you want, or you can type in none. Um, what kind of currency do you want to payments in? I would probably will depends again where you are. Um, if you want to, um you know And what your goal is with your would commerce eight. Whether you want to ship internationally or locally or however it is that you want to set up your story can choose what currency wanted dio which have a products do you plan to sell ? Do you plan to sell both physical and digital? Do you have physical products that you're selling? You have only digital products. You can keep it as both. And if you have a or plan to set up your wu commerce site toe offer products or services in person, you can click that here if you want. And it will make slight adjustments later with the products that you add to your store. Um, we're going to continue carrying on here. Next up is payment options and woo commerce can accept both online and offline payments. And you can set that up here. Now, you can also set it up later in the dashboard section s so we're gonna have our stripe options. We can also had pay, pal if you want. And there are a few different offline payment options that we can choose if necessary. So you can, you know, you can do a cash on delivery or bank transfer checks, whatever it is that you want to do, you can set that up, um, here in the next section. So anyway, let's continue. And next up is initial shipping set up and options. You know, again, if you're shipping nationally or internationally, you can set that up. Here. You can have a flat rate shipping costs. You can have free shipping if you want, you're not gonna be charged for shipping or your customers are gonna be charged for shipping. You can again set up locations and stuff like that with your products and your services if shipping is necessary. Um, let's continue. And the next up here is recommended for all Woo Comer stores. What we're going to do is definitely keep the storefront theme The rest of these we don't need Right now, we can always add them in later automated taxes. I'm gonna keep it unclipped. You can add automated taxes and you can also edit your taxes later. Ah, that depends. Ah, great deal on where you plan to sell your products. What you plan to sell and stuff like that. So for now, I'm just gonna get storefront theme. So let's continue. Okay, Next up is asking us to connect our store to jetpack. And they mentioned jetpack is a, um a pre set, um, set of plug ins and safety features and stuff like that. Store stats with, um, that wu commerce and WordPress pre bundled for you when you set up wordpress website. So you can continue with that or we can just carry on and we're done with our set up here in new commers. So here, I'm just going to actually skip this step. For now, we can again at it and a later date. Um, so, yeah, you're ready to start selling? Here it is. We're gonna send you a you know, email if you want. Um, you know, it can create some products. You can import products if you want. So for now, I'm going to continue on and visit the dashboard, and we can continue reviewing what Mu commerce looks like and has been set up now that we have added it to our WordPress site. So I'm gonna go to view visit Dashboard, and you can see that we are back on the WordPress dashboard here. And if you look down here on the left hand side, there's actually been a woo commerce section added here, and what we can do is we can look at their orders and coupons and settings and all this kind of stuff here. So now that we have set up those initial set up options with Wu commerce, let's continue building and customizing are Rue Commerce Store and get it ready to start selling products 5. The Woocommerce Tab Overview: Hello, everybody. And welcome back. I just wanted to quickly go through this. Who? Commerce option That's been added to our menu here on the left side of the dashboard. So first, what you can see is your orders. When we click on orders and we scroll down here to the bottom, you can see that. Ah, when we receive a new order, it will appear here and we'll start trying all of our orders. Next up is coupons. And here what we can do is we can add our first coupon. We can learn more about coupons. The next thing you can have a look at is the reports on our store. Okay, So again, we can see, you know, the last seven days we have for sales less this month. Last month, last year. You know, custom setting whatever you want here with the reports. Next up is settings. So here in settings, what we can do is you can edit our store address that we initially set up when we installed woo commerce. If we have anything that we need to change here, we have some custom and some general options. We can change your selling locations held all countries or weaken cells, all countries. We could have a list of exclusive or exclusion countries because sell only to specific countries. You know, different shipping locations enable tax rates and calculations, um, and stuff like that. If we need Teoh change that, we can do that here. What you can see and change next is to products. So again, we're just in the setting section of commerce, and you can see the product's pages. You know, different things that we can have a look at and set if we need to. Next up is shipping, and in the shipping section here we can edit and change different shipping options that we , um, have into different shipping classes, depending on maybe the size of the products. Or we can change shipping options. Depending on the overall cart value, We can add in different shipping options to different countries. So, you know, like nationally, you have one option available internationally. You might ship with a different provider or something like that. You can change that and edit that all here in the shipping section. Next up his payments and in payments you can see on and change and edit paint different payment options that we have. If you remember, we initially set up payment PayPal. Check out as well a stripe. And if we have any other options that we want to enable, we can do that here. So, for example, of want to have checks as payments and we hadn't click on set up and do some editing that way. And when you're all done, hit save changes for now, I'm not going to check payments as an option, but it is there, if you need it, or any other kind of payment option is here in the Settings section. Next up is the counts and privacy. And in this section you can set up different options for your customers. You know, like if they have to create an account to be able to check out of the country as a guest different options that they have here assed faras. You know, you can see that personal data removal privacy policy pages, um, stuff like that can be set up here and can edit and change the data retention if you need to. Um, and if you make any changes, simply hit the save changes, and that will be saved for you. Next up is emails. So the email section is the emails that you would send up to your customer. You know, if they've, um, have a new order placed or they've got a cancelled order or, um, you know, well, I guess the new order and the castle Lord on the field orders are going to, you know, the recipient of the or the owner, I guess of the website. And all these other e mails can be sent to the customer directly. Great. So that they've created a new account for an example. Um, they would get an email, and you can manage that setting. You can select it or de select it and make a whole bunch of changes that way. You know, you have your email sending options, you know, your from name again. I set it up. Is the best e commerce door and your from address. That one nice thing about using a hosted. Ah, you know, website hosting provider is that I can actually go in and create a you know, a whole bunch of different email addresses, and they would be from, you know, like it will be from sales at you know the best e commerce store dot com As an example, um, and you can see and edit your email template here you have a base color I would choose. Actually, choose this is black. But if you have, like, a custom color where you have ah, you know, custom color palette that you want to do, you can change those those settings here simply hit, save changes, and those changes will be made for you. Next up is integration and integration is just a few different integration options that you have with Wu Commerce Ship Station being one of them, which would automatically generate, like, shipping labels itself. About the other one being Max mind geo location, which is, uh, kind of pinpointing where your customers are. And stuff like that finally would go to the advanced tab. And you can see that you know, there's a bunch of different advanced tab options that we can edit and change. Um, if we need Teoh and want to at this point of the are set up here in who commerce? So that is the settings tab. The next up is status, and so status has a couple of Thompson and his well system stylus tools, logs and scheduled actions. And you can see like this is kind of getting a little bit more advanced than we need at this moment in time. But if we need to make any kind of, um, edits to our pages and server environments and self it that we can do that here again, this is kind of advanced at this stage in the game. Um, so yeah, that's what statuses and finally up his extensions and extensions is kind of like plug ins for would commerce in particular? Um, you can see that, you know, they have all these kind of different payment options and marketing options and these air kind of plug ins that I made specifically for Woo Commerz. Right? So if we have, you know, we're gonna have some kind of subscription payment option. Um, you know, whether we have some kind of like Mastermind group or something like that, or membership options, we can have a look and add those here in the commerce extensions area of the dashboard. So that is just a quick overview of what's available in the Wu Commerz section here. So let's keep building our woo commerce website 6. Customizing Our Storefront Theme: pull over, buddy. And welcome back. It is now time for us to actually get into building and changing the look and feel of our Woo commerce store. So I am here at the home page. I'm here back of the dashboard, and you can see that you have this. Once you added the commerce plug in. You have got your design, your store, um, option here in the main part of the dashboard. So we're going to create a home paid using storefronts, home page template. And for the purpose of this course, we are going to actually also add example products. So these are both kind of state checked, and we're gonna go. Okay, So we are now into the Wu commerce customizing theme template area of the dashboard and says, Welcome the customizer. We're going to skip the tour for this time, and we're gonna have a look. And this is what the storefront theme looks like from mu commerce. If you recall when we initially set up who commerce, we opted to use a storefront theme, and you don't certainly don't have to, but it is a pretty decent option. Um, it's very customizable. It's a clean. Look, um, you know, it's easy on the eyes. It changes. Ah, look and feel. You can see how it looks and feel on different mobile devices and stuff like that. Um, so it is pretty good theme, especially beginning and starting out. So just quickly. This is what they're our main page looks like in the our best e commerce store. And here on the left hand side, we have a whole bunch of different options available to customize how this looks and how it feels. So when your customers here, you know you can have a very great and positive feeling and looking experience for them. So let's just work our way through all these buttons and options and tabs here on the left hand side. So the 1st 1 is site identity. Actually, I should say the 1st 1 is as mentioned. We are using the storefront theme. If we want to change it, we can, um there are certain themes out there. There are a lot of free themes. Mawr, um most of them are optimized in certain ways. There are some there specifically optimized for woo commerce. Eso if your primary goal with your website here is to run an e commerce store. I would definitely search out which ones are the best themes to run a commerce website on. Um, you can do that here and change that your own preference. But anyway, continuing on So the 1st 1 here is site identity. So you can see that you know your site title, and I'm gonna just scroll up here is the best e commerce store and has a tagline. Just another WordPress site. So maybe I'm gonna change that. Teoh likes custom shop, since you know, 1990 or something like that and you can see that it just changes up there. I'm actually going to add a local at this time, so I've uploaded an image here. I'm just gonna select it, and here I can crop it if I want to make it just a little bit smaller, and we're gonna go ahead and crop that image and you can see that actually replaces the site title and the tagline. So now I have a Mike's custom shop e commerce site set up. The next thing we can do is change the site icon, which I'm going to select now and I have to upload another file. And although this isn't the best, uh, example, you can see that the fabric on is this little icon that appears when you're in the your Web browser. It's just tiny little image up here. So I'm going Teoh, Skip cropping. I'm gonna use that for now. Again. It wasn't the best option. We could see it up here. They added into the tab here. It does say, Mike's custom shop. I only had a couple of, um, logo's made up simply Just said makes custom shop. Um, yeah, so that is the side identity. So next up is the header. And here what we can do is we can change and edit this top header part of our website. So I'm not gonna change any images. But if you had, like, an image you want to throw in the background there, you can do that. Certainly you can change the background color, for example. You can see how that changes. Um, you know, depending on what color you choose, I'm gonna keep it actually, white, though for now, and I would actually mostly suggest using white as much as possible. It just helps all of their product images and pictures really pop but color choice again. It's totally optional. I'm totally up to you. Next time you can change the text color and the link color. I'm gonna keep them both the same for now. But you can certainly make those adjustments here in the header part of the customization. Next up is the footer which again is just this area down here at the very bottom of the website and the the page in the story that you're building you can again change the colors if you want into different colors and and do whatever here in the footer section Next up is the overall background. You can change again. You can change your whole background color in the main part here. If you want a bright yellow, for example, you can certainly do that again. I'm gonna keep everything white. I think it's gonna clean simple look, but you can change out here in background. Next up is topography. You know, here you can change various things throughout the whole website. You know you have your heading colors, your text colors, your link and accent colors. This one I might actually change. Blue is usually a pretty widely chosen option out there simply because it matches what Google does. If you think about Google, does blue link colors. But anyway, you don't have to. It's totally up to you. Next up his buttons. If you had any buttons on your page, um you know, at some point you can change this This main image here, this welcome page into a, um you know, different page. You have a picture, and it could have a button that has a shop now or learn mawr or something like that. You can change that costume colorization here. Next up is the overall layout. So when we are looking at the overall layout, I'm going to go into a, um, a sample page here, and you can see the general layout of the ah of the page. After you're off of your home page, you can change the look of that. So you know you have most of your your writing or your product information here and on the left hand. I'm sorry. On the right hand side, you have this bar. You can switch it to the left hand side if you want right. And then you can off, Of course, edit and change all of these options that you see here on the left hand side, which will do in just a moment. I prefer personally prefer on the right hand side. But again, the choice is totally up to you. Next up is product page, and you can see that you have two options. Here you have your sticky add to cart. So small content bar the top of the browser. Which window? Which includes relevant product information Now the car button and a project pat pagination on display is next. In previous links on product pages, I'm just giving both checked for now. Next up, we have our menus. So the menu, um, it comes stock as being this home cart. Check out my account sample page shop. Um, you can change, you know, you can create a new menu, So let's do that. You're rather quickly will just make a new main menu and we'll send it as our primary menu and we're gonna clip next. We're gonna start adding products to that menu here, So we have got right now you have your home and your blogging your home page. So let's do we're going to add our home, and you can see that here on the right hand side, it's going to change up that kind of stuff. We're gonna have a cart shop, and we have a whole bunch of different options here that we can add in. If we want Teoh in that main home page or again, we can create a secondary menu or handheld menu. Um, and these will show up in different areas on your web page. So for now, we're gonna have our home occurred, a shop, and let's add in, um uh, my account. And then we can actually just drag and drop the order of these. You can see that it changed up here. So we've got our home shot, my account and cart. Okay. And you can just see back here just in the main part of the menu page. Your theme can display menus in three different locations so you can make three different menus. You if you want and display three separate menus. Um, there. So next up after menus is widgets. And here is where we can start editing this sidebar menu. Um, you know, like I don't really. I like the search bar, but I don't necessarily think that my shop needs, you know, I'm not gonna have a blogger posts or stuff like that. So I can either click on here to edit that, or I can go over to the side bar here and you can see that, you know, recent posts. I can simply remove that, and it removes itself from the side here. I also don't necessarily think I want archives. Or, um, let's see here. I could keep categories, but I don't want that men apart there, but what I can do is add in a widget and you can see there's a whole bunch of different options here. So I really like the, um, idea of having ah displayed cart. So add that in there, and I'm just gonna drag it right up to the right below the search far here. So when I add something to the cart on the right hand side here, I can see that, you know, it filled in this belt for a total of $55 I can check out on view cart and stuff like that here on the right hand side. So that's the widgets part. And there are different areas where the widgets can be put in your website first is a sidebar, which is displayed everywhere after the home page. You have an option for below the header and but above the main content. So it's just a right up here. You have your foreigner columns and you have four different areas in the footer. So if we scroll down here, we can have four different sections down here that we can display different things. Like for example, um, you know, you could have your privacy policy or, you know, your delivery and shipping options and just the kind of information that you normally find in the footer part of the website. You can certainly set that up and do that here in the widgets section. So next up is the home page settings. I really, personally like having a static page as your home page. So if we just go back to home here, this is a custom set up as a static page, and we can change this look and stuff in Ah, future video lecture here. Um, we'll keep it as a static page right now. If we had a different page that we want to display, we could display that instead of the home page. Um, you know, if we wanted to dio post page like we did select your latest post, we could have it display different posts or something like that instead. Next up is the woo commerce customization area. So we can have a, um you have a store notice, for example. So you can see when I enable this store notice this is a demo store for testing purposes on order shall be fulfilled. But you could say something like, um, sale this week 50% off. And you know, that's the store notice that you have, uh, instead your product catalog area. So when we are looking at our products catalogue options first we have choose what to display on the main shop page. Eso I'm here in my main shop page. You know, I've got all these, um, example products added in here, but I could, for example, if I wanted to showcase a category or showcase products and categories. You can change that kind of stuff. Here. You control how many products you want. Paro for example, you could have, you know, four products parole where you can go down to to, you know, whatever you want. And again you can change how many rows per page you have. And it would change. It would change that look and feel of the website there as well. Next up is product images. I suggest keeping your thumbnails as 1 to 1 images. We cropped into a square, which looks and feels the best you can do custom, you know, aspect ratios if you want with your product, pictures and stuff like that, or you can leave it on cropped, which I would unless you're bulk editing all your product images and stuff and they're all in the same aspect ratio. I would probably not use that option. I was sick to 1 to 1. But that option is available for you. And finally check out page. So here you are in in the Checco area, You can have, um, you know, you can change all these kind of billing details and all that kind of stuff that you require from your customer when they're checking out. You can change that kind of stuff here straight. So for example, we can hide our phone field if we want, so we don't need their telephone number. You know, you have your terms and conditions page privacy policy, um, and stuff like that. So that is all available here in the check out area. When you're customizing your will Commerce theme, you can do additional CSS uh, if you need to. Um, CSS is basically you're doing the the CSS code for your website. You don't necessarily or never need to get into CSS if you don't and know what you're doing if you don't know what you're doing, I would definitely hire someone if you think that you need to make some kind of CSS change . But the functionality of the website from Wu Commerce and through WordPress is 100% buildable and usable without having to do any kind of coding or stuff like that. But that option again is here and available to you if needed. Finally, we have more, and there's a range of storefront extensions available, you know, to put more choices and options into that storefront theme, you can go to the store front page and dashboard for more information. Um, and so If you start adding stuff in here, it would be available in this part of the the customization area. So that is what our, um, new look of our storefront and R E commerce store looks like. So we're gonna just go ahead and hit publish. So we save all the changes. And now that we have saved that, we are going to continue on and continue customizing pages in building our commerce store and site, So let's do that now. 7. Let's Look At The Wordpress Settings: Hello, everybody. And welcome back. There is one last area that I want to just do a quick overview off before we start getting in and really editing our e commerce store, and that is back here in the dashboard. And it is just down here on the left hand side in the settings. I just want to quickly have a look at all these settings, and you might want to change some of these. And I'm gonna recommend one for sure that we're gonna change here in just a moment. But first up is General, and you can see here in general, you know, you can change your site title and tagline. You have a wordpress. You'll are your side address and stuff like that. Really nothing here at this time that we're going to change next up is writing. And again, this, uh, pertains to the blawg articles and stuff like that again, we're not going to change any of this stuff just yet, but it is here. If you need to do any kind of default post category or something like you're making pages and stuff like that, you can do that quickly. Here in the settings part next up is reading and again in reading. You can see that you know your home. Plage displays a static page as we kind of discussed when we downloaded that Commerce storefront theme. We have a static page of products and images and stuff like that on our home page. When we come to the website, our customers do. You can also change it to the latest posts here, but we're gonna keep another static page I blogged pages show at most 10 put posts, right? So if you were writing a blawg or you had a blogger as part of your E commerce store, you can change the number of blog's that your reader or a customer can see on the page before they have to scroll to another page on stuff like that, we can change. You know, the the Post. You can show your full tax working. Just show a summary if you want, and just things like that here in the reading part. Next up is discussion and again, we're just having a quick look. I'm not gonna change again anything in here, but you know, if you want, for example, there's things about commenting and post settings and stuff like that here in the discussion part. Next up is media. And here what we can do is if we need to weaken, do a bulk editing off the images that we upload to our media library s O, for example, if we want to change the size of a thumbnail, we can do that here, the medium size, you know, the max dimensions of that medium size and again, the large max dimensions. We can change that all here if we want to. Next up, finally is the are not finally but next of his Perma links. And here we're gonna make a slight change. And I do recommend this just because when you're on the website, it makes your, um the website you all are look much cleaner. And all we're going to do is it is set to custom structure, but we're gonna do is just go to post name. We're gonna change it. Teoh, Post name. So you can see here as an example, like it will say, you know, your you'll are your web address and will be just a backslash sample post. You know, that will be the title of the you know what page or a product or something like that. And you can change that here in again and Perma links. And I again, I highly suggest that you do that and you can do again in Perma links, you can change things like category bases and stuff like that. Um, and finally done here at the bottom. We do want to change the product. Perma link. And what the one I like the look of is either the default, right, Because it's a you know, you're you all are. You have a product, and then have your sample product what every product is called or simply do the shop base. Right? So I'm gonna switch to doing the shop ease. So when someone goes to my e commerce door, you know the type in the web address, and if they click on a product, it'll stay. It will be part of the shop, and it will be part of, you know, the name of that product will be displayed last. So I'm just gonna do that. I'm gonna hit save changes. Okay, So all these changes have been changed here, and finally, privacy and privacy policy are sort of privacy is about the privacy policy page on your website and depending on where you are, I think actually, most international laws now require that you have some kind of privacy policy page. You know, it's something that you would probably add in the footer section of your website, right? You'll leave a link there, and people need to look at your privacy policy. You know, they can click on that link and do that there. There is a basic privacy policy that's created when you do start your commerce Web store, you can edit that, and I'm gonna show you in just a few minutes in a new lecture. So keep an eye on that for the for the next lecture, there will be a, um, you know, we'll have a look at the privacy policy and will make some changes and stuff like that. But anyway, that kind of stuff is here in settings. What we're gonna do is we can change it here if we want to, or we can just continue using this page or can create a new page. But yet, anyway, that is a quick overview of the Settings area here in the dashboard, part of our Woo Commerce WordPress store. And anyway, let's get on and carry on into the next lecture now. 8. Customizing Pages In Wordpress: Hello, everybody. And welcome back. We are still here in her dashboard, and next up, I want to have a look at an edit a few of our pages just to give you an idea of what you can do with your pages. And it's very similar process of your outing. Um, Blawg posts and stuff like that. So we're gonna go down two pages over here, and we're gonna go to all pages, and you can see that already, even though we haven't added any pages, WordPress mu commerce have added a few pages on our behalf and you can see like we have a block and card check coat, etcetera, etcetera. And when we want to, we can go and edit these pages, right? For example, here, talking about in the last lecture, we have a privacy policy already made up. If we need to edit that, we could do that on a future lecture. I'm gonna go through how you could maybe make up your own privacy policy in terms of conditions. But what we're gonna do here is direction and go to our home page and I'm going to go toe edit that and it's going to show you just quickly how the the editing process goes on. WordPress, how it how easy it is and things like that. So you can see here we are on our home page, and I'm just gonna go preview really quickly and again. You can see what our home page looks like. We added that logo earlier. We changed their on the menu a little bit. We haven't changed any of the, you know, the categories or stuff like that. They it is still showing the example products that we asked blue commerce to include when we created our web store here. But, you know, like a za basic functioning website. It does look pretty good. So what I'm gonna do is gonna go back to edit page, and what we can do here is we can change out basically all this information we have got our you know, our shop by category are new, you know, in the shop, um, options here, you know, we recommend these products and stuff like that. So what I want to do is just show you how quick and easy it is to actually add and change items in this in this home page and in pages. And really, all you need to do is worry about this little plus icon. You can access it in two different places, so it's either. If you're you know, if you're scrolling on your page, you can see a pop up here right in the middle of the page. So if we want to add something in here, for example, you know you can add in a new paragraph, you get out of an image. If you have a new header that you want to add a quote or cover audio clip gallery file, you know there's a whole bunch of different, and that's just actually the most used, you know, so you can go down to your boot commerce store here. If you have a particular product categories list or best selling products, you know you can add that kind of stuff in here very quickly. The other place you could do that is the in the top left hand corner. Here, you just have to put your cursor in and then hit the plus and you'll add in your paragraph right below it. If you want another way to do a quick change, like that. I'm just gonna quickly delete this. If you click on, say again, we're here. We've clicked on this, but we're not quite sure how to add that block in. If we're not sure if it's going to go above or below that, we just hit these three little buttons here and we can insert before or concert after, right? So if we want to insert before, all right, it's going to give us a block here that we can add in just before this we recommend a header, right? And what we can do here is just that this plus icon over here or we can, you know, add images or at heading or multiple, like gallery images here instead. But anyway, what I wanted to do was just quickly add in a couple of, um, ideas and options for you. So the first thing I'm going to do is right below the, um, cover right, like we can We can change this cover if we want. I gotta keep it for now. But right below that cover I'm going to Instead of saying shop by category, I'm going to add in something different, so I'm gonna click on this, and I'm going to go down here, and I'm gonna go to remove block. Okay, So that block has disappeared here, and seven gusts going to add a new image. And I've already actually, I added a couple of images to the media library, Okay? And I just made a cook little banner here. And you can see that this instead of saying, you know, the shop by category, it says new products, Right? So we can preview that, and you can see just below the welcome banner here. It says new products. Now you can see it's actually offset here. One of things I didn't do here is up here at the top. You can select the alignment. I'm just gonna align that center, and then you'll see that that changes scroll down here in new products. Right? So we got our accessories hoodies and T shirts. Obviously, you know, this isn't the best heading for these categories, but you get the idea of how quick and easy it is to add a new in this case, a new image in, um, let's scroll down and we'll do one more quick example. I'm going to add in a new product category. Okay, so we are going to go just below fan favorites again. We're just going to instead, this time I'm gonna click on on sale, but I'm going to insert before okay? And then I just get the plus. And I'm gonna go down to the, uh, commerce section here, and I'm going Teoh put in a product of, uh, on sale products. Okay, so I'm just gonna dio products on sale on top of products. Okay, I actually just realized I can't add this block in here, because currently, we don't have any products on sale, but what I can do is instead transform it to a different product option. Okay, so we've got our V necked shirts or T shirt and our polo. So when we go to preview and again, that was just above the, um, on sale area here. We've got that V neck and T shirt and polo at it in there. So that is basically how you can change your pages in a hurry. And again, if you just click on that plus icon, you have got a whole bunch of different options available to you. If there is something here that you want to edit. Obviously you can just click on it. For example, if you want to make this bold or if you want to use it as a bigger or smaller petting size , we can change that there. And then we'll just preview that just quickly to show you what that change did. So just scroll down here to the on sale part, and it is bold. It out we could do is also changed the text alignment. You know, if we wanted to for some reason, we could do that and make that kind of change here in a hurry. So you can see that the alignment now is hard to the right on about option is there for you . So anyway, that is how we can go about editing our pages. So that is available here in the again, in the in the dashboard and pages. And I'm gonna go back to all pages. I'm going. Teoh, cancel. I'm sorry. I'm going, Teoh, not save the changes. And again, these are just the basic pages that have been created for us, and we can have them here. So anyway, let's carry on into the next lecture 9. How To Quickly Add Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions: Hello, everybody. And welcome back in this lecture, I want to go through the process of creating a privacy policy and terms and conditions for our website, and it is really easy to do. Um, but it is very important as well just to keep yourself, you know, with the various laws throughout the world, depending on where you're shipping your products to or where you plan to sell your products , it's just a good idea. Toe have these in place for you, just in case anything happens. So the first thing we're gonna do is we're going to use the privacy policy generator dot info. Okay. And this is a free service. All it really did was basically just did a privacy policy. Templates search in Google. This one came up. And actually, they also have a terms and conditions sample page here as well, which will use here in just a moment. So I'm gonna go through the process of creating the privacy policy generator here. Um, so as mentioned, you can see that, you know, not everyone knows how to make a privacy policy agreement on, especially with these kind of different acts and provisions in place throughout the world, right? Like I don't even know exactly what you know. The CCP a or the G d p r. You know what the sink stand for, but you know that they're important, and they're there for a reason. Right there. Laws put in place to help predict consumers and businesses and stuff like that. So anyway, we're going to go through, and I'm gonna just quickly show you how easy it is. So the first thing we're gonna do is just enter your company name. So we're going to go Mike's custom shop and your website name is Mike's custom shop, uh, custom shop and your website. You all are is ah, store front, Michael. Okay, so here, next. You know, it has, uh, this additional full of questions. Do use cookies on your website. I would always suggest you say yes on the recent is even though you don't maybe necessarily set up cookies on your very basic page, you might in the future install a plug in or use the theme or something like that. Where cookies are. Are you so just hate? Yes. And that way you're covered in the future. Do you show any advertising through Google AdSense on your website. You might. I'm not going to. So you get no. Do you show advertising from third parties except Google? Also, I'm gonna hit No. Okay. And then obviously next. And finally, we're gonna choose our country. So I'm here in Canada, Canada, In my state, I guess my provinces, Ontario, and I just can enter my email address here and and get that all made up. Okay, so you can see here in just a matter of seconds. My privacy policy for Vice Custom Shop has been made here, you know, And it has all this. Ah, this information, you know, like the information we collect and how we use your information and and stuff like that. So I'm gonna guess go ahead and select all of this, and I'm gonna go back into my pages section in my dashboard, and I'm just gonna update that initial privacy policy that was made. And then I'm gonna go ahead and make a Terms and Conditions page as well. So I am just going to go ahead and select all of this. This this writing over here Alternatively, you can, you know, use this link below if you want. And just put that into your website. You know, if you have again, like a privacy policy link at the bottom of your footer, for example, you can put that this Lincoln there, you can also download and copy text of the privacy policy here. This is just a slight change where you'd have to enter it as code. It's very easy to dio, you know, you just copy and paste it into the code section versus just the regular editing part of the page. What is going to go ahead and copy this over here? And then I'm gonna go back. As I mentioned, I'm gonna go into my pages and edit, okay? And I'm going Teoh, select everything here and just hit Delete. Okay? And I'm just gonna hit paste, right, So you can see that all this privacy policy information has been updated. So I am going Teoh publish. Okay, so that privacy policy page has now been updated so we can go ahead and view of the page. Right? And there you go. So, you know, in certain parts of my website, I would just link to the privacy policy. Is there for anyone that needs it. And it complies with all the laws and stuff like that. So that is good to go. And again, I want Teoh create in terms of conditions Page as well. It's very straightforward. All we're going to do is because there isn't already a page pre made. So we're gonna just go to add new. I'm gonna add a terms and conditions page here, and I'm gonna do the same thing. So I'm just gonna fill up my company name and all that kind of stuff here and create that new terms and conditions page. So anyway, that is how we can quickly add a privacy policy and terms and conditions page to our website. So let's carry on and continue building our e commerce Wu Commerce Web store. 10. How To Add A Single Product!: Hello, everybody. And welcome back. It is now time to start adding products into our east door. So I am back here in the dashboard section. And if you just see here on the left hand side, we have products. So I'm gonna go ahead and look at all the products we have currently. Okay, so you can see here that we do still have the example. Products that will commerce added, When we first install this plug in, I'm going to keep them here just for now, just for Azan example for this course. But when time comes and you want to remove these items from your store, just hit the the blank box, appear the check mark box and balk options and just move the multi trash, and that's the quickest way to get rid of all of them. But for now, we're gonna leave them. And what we're gonna do instead is we're going to go over here and the left hand side again . There is add new. So here we are, and we are in the We're gonna add a new product into our store here, and you can see here there are a couple of different areas and different things that we can add in to make that product release stand out and look good on our store. So the first thing is a product name, and I have selected a few images and items that we can add into the storage as quickly as an example. Eso we The 1st 1 is a tennis racket. Okay, so that's the title of the product is called Tennis Racket. And this area here is for the long description. So this is a long description of a tennis racket. Look out, Federer. Something like that. Whatever the description is for your product added in there, you can scroll down here. I'm gonna come back and look at this product outta here in just a second. We have a short product description. So this is a rocket, okay? And I'm going to set a product image here on the right hand side. So I'm gonna, uh, just like that here now, Okay. And as I mentioned, I did upload a few images to my media library already, So I'm gonna go ahead and select this blue tennis racket. Okay, So the product image has been set. If I wanted to add more product images. I can add them here in the product gallery. And also I have just one basic picture. I could maybe do a close up of the grip and, you know, like a side profile or side graphics image or whatever it is. You know, you've seen multiple product images before. You kind of have an idea of what else you can add in there working our way up Nazem product tanks. So this is for tennis. It's a racket and maybe have those to your good. So I those in okay, And then the next thing we can do is in the product categories. We can categorize products into different categories so that you know, when you're adding different widgets and sections in different parts of your website and you want to display certain categories or something, you can select that and put them in here. So I'm gonna add a new category, and it's just simply going to call tennis. Okay, so I'm gonna add that is a new category. Okay, so this tennis racket is going to be in the tennis category. Eso finally, what we're doing here when we're adding in this new product. If we're gonna go through the product out of here, the first area here is the general. OK, so we'll have a regular price of $199 and we'll have a sale price of 1 49 99 and we can schedule that if we want. Okay. So we can set, you know, from the start date to an end date. If we want to, you know, have, ah, weeklong sale or something on this tennis racket. We can do that. I'm just gonna leave it as is for now. Also, what we have here is that it is just a simple product. Okay, so we're not gonna worry about these items here. It's on a group. Product is not an external or affiliate product on is not a very a product. So we really but as a simple product for now, Okay, Also, what you have the ability to do here is select the, you know, the type of product that it is. So isn't a virtual product, right? So for example, you can see here that says virtual products are intangible and are not shipped. OK, there are. It's also downloadable products. So when um, you know your customer buys that product, they're sent the link to download. You know, like e book, for example. Okay, so anyway, that's general. So, inventory, we're gonna have a skew so you can have no t r for tennis racket. As an example, we can manage the stock. We can leave it blank and managing stock. So what we would have to do is, if we wanted to manage a stock, we would tell how many we have available on hand. Right. So if we have safe 55 of the service rockets on hand, um, and we don't allow back orders. When we sell through those five, you know, it'll display that this item is out of stock in our Web store. All right, so we have ah, loafed stock threshold as well. Sorry. Going back to allow backwards, weaken, Do, do not allow or we can allow. But notify customer. Or it could just simply allow so they can be notified that, you know it is back ordered. You'll get it when we can ship it. Or simply allow, you know, if you maybe have ah high demand product that you're always getting new stock in. You know, the customer might not know what it's like a day or two wait while you get the new product in and stuff like that. In that case, I would probably not worry about managing stock. But anyway, that is a side note. And that's what you can do here, manage stock. I'm gonna keep that unchecked, right? So if someone came and bought the tennis racket from us, the assumption is that we have in a stocking will ship it kind of as soon as possible. The next thing is the shipping. And if you have these, you know this kind of dimensions and the weight of this product can added In here we can select a shipping class. We would have to set up shipping classes for different products and stuff like that here, but that option will be available. We have are linked products. Okay, so if we have, you know, we have one time tennis racket, but we have, like a nup cell might be to a better quality tennis racket or across cell. Might be to, you know, the tennis shoes or something like that. Attributes OK, so we can have attributes of this product. We're gonna have a custom attributes, and we're gonna add in, You know, it's a color, and we're gonna add in blue as an example, so we'll save these attributes. Okay, so we have got color, and I'll show you here in just a minute. When we preview this product where this custom attributes will appear on your product page in advanced, we have things like purchase note. Okay, so this is like when someone purchases this product, Um, you could say something like thank you for accusing us to help your tennis game or something like that. Whatever it is, you know, there's a purchase note and menu order is if it is a product that we want to put in a certain position in the menu, we can do that here will leave it zero for now. And and finally, we're just gonna get down to get more options. And this will take us out of this product page. It is recommended extensions, as you can read here and and things like that. But for now, we're gonna leave that as is. And, uh, we're gonna go ahead and preview this okay and So there you go. So you can see that we have got this tennis racket and we said it to that sale price of 1 49 99 You know, this is a racket on. Here's our long description of our tennis racket loco Federer. And as mentioned, those custom attributes eso You have your description. The custom attributes air here on under additional information. Right? So I had selected that this color was blue and, you know, again, you have a new area for people to leave her views on this product. Once they purchase it, they could do that. Here you can see the skew number if we have that is applicable. You know, I mentioned or I said it as TR and we're in the category of the tennis category. So if I clicked on this category, I would be taken to the whole category of tennis products. You know, you have your racket tag and tennis tag and stuff like that here. So that is the quick and easy way to add a product into our store. So I'm gonna go ahead and publish this product and that will continue on in the next lecture 11. Setting A Product Variation: Hello, everybody, and welcome back. So now that we've added in the single tennis racket product, I'd like to walk through and show you how to add a variable product. So in this particular instance, you might have a tennis racket, and, uh, the first image I added was a blue one. But you might have this test record available of different colors, right? So I'm gonna choose a different color tennis racket for your product. You might have different sizes or different colors available, or a whole bunch of different attributes available as variations for your product that you might want to offer it to your customers. So if we scroll down here, what we're gonna do is instead of using the product out as a simple product, we're gonna go ahead and do is choose variable product. And from here, what we're gonna do is we're gonna go down toe attributes. OK, so as mentioned, I'm going to use a couple of different color options here. But if you wanted to add in something for let's just add in something for size, as an example we could do is a size and where you can see here is enter some texts or attributes and separate them with that vertical line. Okay, so what? How small, medium larger. Something like that. Okay, I'm gonna say that attributes, but as mentioned, I am going Teoh use as an example this being blue or I'm gonna have a read option available . Okay, so I'm going to choose Blue Red, and I'm going to use this option as my variation. Okay, so what I'm gonna do here is before I say this, I'm gonna use for variations. Okay? So I'm gonna save that, okay? And then the next call him here, you can see variations. Okay, So I'm gonna go ahead and add out of variation, and because I have two options available, I'm gonna go ahead and at another variation. Okay, So my first option is going to be blue, and my next option is going to be read. So what I want to do here is expand and I'm going to go ahead and add it. Red image in here. Okay, so I've got a red image, okay? And I can change a few of the particulars on that red tennis racket available. OK, so this one might have a to 49 99 regular price. And it's on sale for 1 79 point in it or something like that on I can add, you know, in stock or out of stock or bond. Back quarter. I have the options at in the weight and dimensions that I want and I can add in. Ah, this is a red racket as a description. So I hadn't saved that. Okay? And now that those, uh, changes have been saved, I'm gonna go ahead and make a few adjustments to the blue section. Okay, So you do have Teoh. If you have a variation, you do have to enter all this stuff individually into that products. What? I'm gonna upload that image again into the blue. Okay. And actually, what I didn't mention in the read option was you can change the skew if you want, So I've got a TR. This is blue, Okay. And, um, the sale price of regular price for that one was 1 99 99 and the sort of the regular price was in the sale price was 1 49 that night. Okay, It's not gonna go ahead save. I'm just going to quickly change that, uh, skew here for the red one. Okay, so I have got, you know, my blue option available. Have a read option. So when I go and we have look at this product in our store, okay? You can see that. You know, this product varies between the two prices of 1 49 and 1 79 99 Right? This is racket. I can choose the color I want. So I've got the blue. Is that on sale at 1 49? The red one is on sale at 1 79 Okay. So I can go ahead. And if I was the customer, I can click on add to cart and check out and all that kind of fun stuff. But that is how we can do a variation on a product and that you can see how quickly an easy it works. And ah, again, you can add in Ah, virtually any kind of variation you have on that product. Usually it would probably be falling under the red. I'm sorry. Under the color category or science category for products. Ah, but again, depending on the variation, you might have different options available to you. So anyway, that is how you add in a variable product. Let's carry on 12. Let's Set Up PayPal Payment: Hello, everybody. And welcome back. We're going to take a walk through the payment section just to make sure that we have everything set up properly. When we do start placing are getting orders on our website and things like that. So we're back here again in the dashboard and to set up and change the payment settings were going on to woo commerce. And it isn't the settings part of the blue commerce tab here on the left. Okay. And then when we get here, we're just going to click on the payments, okay? And then when we're here, you can see the different payment options available to you. And depending on what kind of story you're setting up, you may want to have both online and offline payment options available to your customer. I think, for the most part, just online options available either being your PayPal, Checco or your striped check out are more than sufficient. You know, your customer can use, you know, their credit cards if they wanted that can use their bank accounts if they have a PayPal account set up as an example. But we're gonna do here is just walk through on just briefly. These options available and as mentioned, some of these are offline payment. So, for example, if we want to enable check payments, we just simply click on that, Okay? And then when we have, ah, check payments to set up, you can see what you know. The options are when you have your cheque payments available. Right? So someone orders something on on your website, and it gets delivered to them, and they're going to give you a check, or they're gonna mail you a check. You know, stuff like that. You Can you change that description here if you want. Right. So if they're gonna mail you a check, you know, police and check to your store name and all that kind of stuff here. You know, you can add in instructions if you want. Um, you know that is your options for check payments, or you can simply disable check payments and work with that. Okay, So I'm gonna go ahead and disabled check payments, and really, what I want to do in particular, was talking about PayPal and PayPal. There are two options in the settings area. Here. First is papal standard and redirect customers to pay, pal to enter their payment information. Okay. Or the other one is PayPal. Check out. And this one allows customers you can read here, allow customers to Greenlee, check out directly with PayPal. And what it will do is it will keep your customer on your website, right? Like it won't redirect them to PayPal. They won't have to log in or anything, Which is probably the easier and more convenient option. It looks a little bit smoother and nicer for your customers. So we're gonna go ahead and continue using that one. And I would suggest that you have this option available. And when we go to manage, you can see that there are a couple of options and things like that to enter here into the papal check out area. So, you know, we're gonna enable that we have our PayPal is the papal option. You know, with the description. You can change that if you want. You know, this auto filled out one here, you can pay, you know, pay with PayPal. You can pay with your credit card if you don't have a PayPal account. Right? So many people. How papal Lots. People don't they can still use a credit card, you know, And then you have your PayPal. Check out settings down here below. And you know, you have your brand names, you can have your store name or your brand name. I would suggest adding in a local image and header image, it just makes your check out process look a little bit more professional. If we keep scrolling down here, you can see that we have our landing page options. So we have either our Loggins that will pop up, and it'll ask the person to log in. I would suggest using the non PayPal account right? So simply they just have to enter their billing information and they can check out that way also on building. They do have the option to log into their PayPal account. And just growing down here, you know you have your require your billing address if you need a shipping address or for your offering affiliated or digital products, I guess, or virtual products, you might not require a billing address or shipping address. You know, if you need a phone number, you can select out or de selected one thing down here. I would suggest that you do have is require instant payment. Okay, so when people check out on your store to, you know, you get your money when they they make a purchase, right? Like you don't have to worry about chasing them down or or anything like that. And you can see just as we scroll down here, we have some options. We can change the button color. You know, you have your button shape, you know, but layout, But in sizes, you know, I would keep it as responsive. So that changes size depending on what kind of you know, if your customers using their laptop or, ah, you know, mobile device or something like that, it changes and stuff like that. So that is how the papal check out options look and what kind of options that you can change. So we're gonna go and save those changes, okay? And then we're back here into the payments area, and, uh, and we're able to continue on and actually start accepting payments on our store. So anyway, let's carry on and into the next lecture 13. Adding Some Useful Wordpress Plugins And Security Settings: Hello, everybody. And welcome back. I want to spend just this next lecture walking through a couple of plug ins and tips that weaken due to help secure our store and make it just a little bit more You viral proofed and things like that. So we're back here in our dashboard, and the first thing that might be beneficial to you and, uh, we've done already, but it's Teoh change and edit your administration password and stuff like that to make it really difficult to hack and understand and do that. So what you might want to do is actually have your You have your admin password or your user name, but you might change. Or you might add in a new administration level, user and and make that a very difficult you know, password and user name to figure out. Okay, So you would When you're back here, you add new user. Okay, You got kind of fill out all this information and their role would be administrator. Okay, so I'm not gonna add in a new custom new a user right now, but that might be a good first step for you. So another thing that we can do is when we're in our plug ins area here, you can see that there is one outstanding update to do. So I would recommend that you do all of the updates, Aziz A come up so that all your plug ins are running operationally and smoothly with the latest versions of WordPress and things like that. So once we have updated that, as I mentioned, I only had one to do. What I'm gonna do is go in and add in a new plug in, okay? And we're gonna do a security and firewall plug in. Okay, So I'm just gonna do a key word search for firewall. Okay? And there are, as you can see, a couple of different options available here. The one I was kind of thinking of using. And I usually do. You use this is all in one or press security and firewall. So you go ahead and install that. Okay, I'm gonna activate it. Okay? And now that it has been activated, we can scroll down here to the area where it has been off. Sorry, it is actually been added to the left hand column. Here we're press security or WP security and you have a whole bunch of different settings and user accounts and things like that. You can change an edit here. The next thing that you might want to add in or the third recommendation I have is another plug in and it is called WPS Hide, log in paints. We're gonna go DPS hide, log in. And it's this WPS high log in and changes the Ural where you log in to do all your administration changes and settings. So we're gonna go ahead and install it and activated. And once that is activated, we can scroll down here in our installed plug ins area. And here it is in the very bottom. Here is we're gonna go in and change some of the settings we can at least a look at one of the settings Dio. And what this does is the log in information or the log in your l. You can customize that by default. The log in your l for administration work in WordPress is your, um your u r l backslash. It's WP admin. Okay, so w p ed men. Okay, so if I went right now to http, got storefront on Mykonos dot com Backslash to repeated men. Um, it would I will be able to log in and do all the administration settings and access the dashboard here and change that kind of stuff. But what you want to do here is instead come up with a unique you are log in. OK, so we're going to not use the WP and men were going Teoh, I'm just going to as an example, use log in and maybe the number one. Okay, So when someone tries to log in, what they'll do is if we save this and they tried to log in using that WP log in page, what will come up with is an error page instead, right? So what? We know that we need to use this Ural Backslash log in one toe, access the the dashboard here in WordPress. So those are a couple of things that we can do to keep her our site up and running a smooth and as secure as possible. So anyway, let's carry on and into the next lecture 14. Setting Up Coupon Codes!: Hello, everybody. And welcome back. Let's talk about creating coupons now. You are certainly setting up your store, and there might be some good uses for coupons. You know, whether it's for first time users of your website or you want to send telling out to an email list or have a coupon on particular products or services, you can set that kind of stuff up in mu commerce and and deliver those coupons when and how and where you want to. So how to make a coupon code? Well, we're in a dashboard here and we go down the blue commerce and click on coupons, okay? And we're gonna go to add coupon so you can see here we're going to add in a coupon code. We're gonna make up one that's 10% off, or we will describe it if we want to, As this is a is A is a 10% off coupon for everything in a store or something like that. Whatever it is, if you want to make a description, you can okay, and then we scroll down to the coupon data here. The general, we have got a couple of discount types, right So we have a fixed carte discount. We have a fixed product discount or we have a percentage discount. In this particular case, we're going to do a 10% off discount. And that coat is again a 10% off. And what we can do is we can combine things if we want. We can have a 10% off on allow free shipping can have an expiry date on that coupon code, or we can leave it good forever. Next up under coupon data is usage restriction. Right, So we can have a minimum. Spend s we can have Ah, on everything. A store over $50 or something like that. Okay, So minimum spend. If they add $50 of product to this, their carts, they can use this coupon code. Next up is individual use on Lee. You check this box if you want it to be. If you don't want to be able to combine coupon codes, right, so if you use one coupon code, you can't use another one. It's so in this case, you could only use a 10% off coupon code. You can exclude sale items if you want, so this coupon code could be good on regular priced items only or could be good on sale price items only. You know, if you're having a big sale blowout, you gonna have an additional, you know, 10% off sale items code or something like that. You can also add it into products. If you want your product categories, you can add products in here. Or you can exclude certain products, like of some brands that you know can't be set with a coupon code. You can set those products here if you want again or if you have product categories. You can add product categories or exclude particular product categories. And finally, we have usage limits so you can have usage limit per coupon. So we're gonna have a You know, this coupon code can only be used 100 times. Um, you know this you usage, uh, to a particular number of items in cart. All right, so you can have it apply to the first item on the cards or, you know, the, um, you know, five items in cart or something like that. Um, and you can have a usage limit per customer so your customer can only maybe used it one time. Okay, so that is how easy it is to set up a coupon codes. We're gonna go ahead and publish, and then we're gonna go ahead and go into our store, and we're gonna go to shop and let's add in another Beanie, I guess because we have a belt already in our store here. So we're gonna go to view cart, alright? And here you can see where we have this apply coupon code is we're gonna go 10 off and apply the coupon. Okay, Coupon code applied successfully, so you can see that. You know, I had a $73 sub total and the coupon 10 off took off $7.30. And there you go. So that is how the coupon code option works in woo. Commerce is a very simple and easy thing to set up, and you can, you know, set up a whole bunch of different coupon codes. You can set them up for different products if you want to add in products or exclude products and ah, and things like that. So anyway, that is it for this lecture that is coupon codes. Thank you very much for tuning in 15. That's A Wrap: Hello, everybody. And welcome back. So that wraps up our beginner guide to the Wu Commerz WordPress platform.
