About This Class

             Here I will teach you how to solve the shapeshifting mirror cube. The mirror cube is a puzzle that requires prior knowledge of solving the standard 3x3 cube. This is an intermediate level of difficulty. As long as you can solve the standard 3x3, this course should be quite easy for you to handle. The mirror cube is a really cool puzzle that can take many shapes and will impress everyone you show it to. I believe that you will be blown away at the simplicity of this course.

1. Introduction: welcome my course on how to solve the Mira Que My name is Byron. I've been a competitive speed keeper for about the last 11 years or so. And within that time I've taught well over 300 people how to solve various types of cubes. This is one of them. This is known as the Mirror Cube or the Bump Cube. This cube is deceivingly simple, but there is a prerequisite as faras You being able to solve this, you have to be able to solve a standard three by three Cube. In order for you to learn how to solve this. Once you understand how to solve a three by three, this is going to be the course for you. So with that being said, let's get into it. 2. 1st Step: So before we get started with this, just want to let you guys know this is a awesome mirror cube. It has caps on the centers and not a lot of them do. So that's gonna be really nice. Moves really well comes pre loaded from the factory. If you guys are interested in picking this up as well as this Matt, my lighting, any of the loop's, I recommend feel free to look in the course description, and you guys can go and click on those links and pick some of this up for yourself. So with that being said, let's get into it. So you went out and picked yourself up a mirror cube. The mere cube is a very interesting puzzle. It's basically a normal three by three. It's just the centers have been moved. This is a shape shifting, que so as you mix it, it loses its square shape as you've noticed and becomes this jumbled mess of no colors at all and just Corot but looks super, super cool. Now this is significantly easier to solve than you may think. I'm gonna be breaking this down for you really quick. So this whole thing is easily solvable due to the off shapes. You have no colors to work with here. So we're gonna be basing everything off of what is leveled off, and this is what I mean. So let's give this a scramble first. And this is not the most, uh, easiest cube two finger trick. So I will do my best here. So just do a nice random scramble. And the first thing I like to look for is I like to solve the big pieces first. They're easy to find. They're easy to place. So I got this all scrambled up, and the first thing I'm gonna do is find the post that sticks out the most. As far as the center goes, the center is right here, and I believe off off of all the sides I can see here, I think this one sticks up the most. So that's what I like to start with. After I find one that sticks up the most, I'm gonna find the biggest edge piece I can, and so far I think this one's probably it. So I'm gonna have this edge up there, and, you know, it is how this levels off it's perfectly flush. That tells me that these two match and to find out where this piece belongs, you're gonna find the center that it matches as well. So all you have to do is move it aside until it levels off on another center. So now you know this piece is a solved edge. You're gonna follow the same process. So this piece right here is pretty long. So I'm gonna look for that. It's on the bottom, and this is the part I solved. I was gonna move this aside until I find center. It lines up with their it is going to move that up to the top, and I was gonna repeat it again. Repeat the process. So this one is sideways. So all I'm going to do here is I'm just gonna bring this up to the top layer like this, and I lucked out. It was already matching. It didn't match. All I was gonna do is move it to with the other side, and then it would have matched. So we got another matching one. I'm gonna find another really big piece, which should be this one right here. And this one has already leveled off. It's already matching right there, so I'm just going to bring this up to the top. And now, as you can see, this has leveled off. That's level, this one's level. That's level, and everything on top is level. You now have made your first cross. This is the same thing. Like get this real quick, show you exactly the same set up that you're in right now. So when you have them leveled off, it's just like getting your normal cross on a three by three. So we'll knock that out. Let's move on to the corners. 3. Corners and 2nd Layer: So when it comes to the corners, you're gonna be doing things kind of. Similarly first thing I like to do is I like to find the biggest piece I confined. And I'm going to try and imagine as I move this around, if this piece can fit in there and this one, I don't think so. We're gonna keep moving. And I think this piece will probably fit in there. So let's just give it a try. So I like to hold it on my left or my right, and you're just gonna do the same algorithm you would, and I'll post it. I'll post it up here. So that way you guys can take a look at it, right? Where's my piece? Okay. And I'm just going to basically just insert this the best way I see fit. Or you could just continually repeat the algorithm until it gets in there. Whichever orientation you think it fits best in. So now it's in there, and I know it's in the correct spot because it's a level here. It's level there. It's level here. So now I'm gonna find another big piece. Let's go with this corner and I'm going to look to see where it may fit best. And I think it's gonna be this one. And you can generally tell if you just hold it like here. This is probably a good position. And if you bring it down and you see it, level off, then that tells you that piece probably fits there. So going to step aside, insert it. Done. We got that corner done. Gonna find another big piece, go with this one. And I think this one might fit. And over here. So we're gonna try and fit this in and notice this has leveled off right here with this edge. So I could just do f 12 at this point. Yeah. Okay. So I was right. Yeah. So what did go there? All right, now, let's go with the next piece. Let's go with the next biggest corner. Believe it's gonna be this one right here. So I suspect that this corner goes down there. So I'm going, Teoh. Insert it whichever way I can. And there we go. Got it. So that is the first layer completed. We're going to start moving on to the middle ear. I believe the middle layer is probably the funnest part of this cube, and it's very, very easy. It's a lot easier than you may think. So first thing you're gonna do is find an edge that levels off with a center. So once you find it off that levels off like this one, you're going to turn it to see if it levels off with the center of one of the sides. So, for example, on this side, when you turn it, it does not level off it all. So now I know this belongs here because it was flush. You're gonna perform the same three by three algorithm you would in order to move, Let me just get the corners knocked out. I can't see over this camera. So same thing if I were to move this piece Teoh here, I would perform the normal you are you prime our prime and then turn it and insert it that way. Same exact algorithm to move this piece over. It's just gonna be a little weird because the cube is not completely uniform. So now gonna insert that in that piece? Moved right there. So this section is good, So we're gonna move on to finding another one. So I like to look in the top layer in the cross area of the top layer and find a big piece . And there's continue to turn the cube until it levels off with one of the sides. And here it levels off. We know this side has already solved, so it has to go here. So I was gonna do the algorithm again, Done. And now it's gonna repeat the process. This has already leveled off, and this has already solved so belongs here. We're gonna repeat that algorithm. That's done. And now your 1st 2 layers are completed onto the last layer. 4. Top Cross: So at this stage of the Cube, if you're familiar with olam pillow, you can do it. Anything that levels off with Centerpiece, consider that yellow facing up. That's basically what it will tell you. The case is so this one would simply be a, uh a uneven tea is what I like to call it. And that's just a f Argue our prime. You print more prime to knock out that Olo. Now, if you're unfamiliar with Olo, I'm definitely going to go back on a level this off for you. So as far as this is concerned, setting up a case for you you're gonna end up having the same cases the same four cases you may run into with beginners Method three by three. So this is a dot the dot You know, it's a dot because nothing levels off with it. No edges level off with that dot So if we perform our algorithm from any side, as we know, like the typical three by three, actually, I'll set that. I'll set that up on this cube over here, so that way we have something to reference. So let's knock this out so the dot basically the same thing. And then when we perform our algorithm normal algorithm fr ur prime your prime our prime, you'll end up getting that backwards l that we're all familiar with. So, as you can tell, this has leveled off That's leveled off. And so you get your backwards. L just like this one. And then you do it again. And just like you would expect, you get your line here. This is all leveled off. You get your line, do it one more time and you get your cross and you know it's across because everything all edges are lined up with the center. 5. Final Step: So now that we have the cross established, the next thing we're gonna do is line up our cross. Similar to how When we get our cross on the three by three, we turn it around and we see one that lines up. Try and get to that line up just like this. We're gonna do the same thing. The way you can tell which ones are lined up is simply where they level off. So here, you know this is not level. That's not level. This is not level, and this is definitely not level. So we're gonna move it around and we're gonna see which ones level this one's level. That's not that's not that's not sorting turned again. We have one level here. That's not level. That's not. And this one is. So we have the to their leveled off right next to each other. Same thing as if you have to their leveled off next to each other. They're gonna hold one in your right hand, one away from you. They're gonna do the same thing here, hold one in your right hand and hold one away from you and they're going to perform the same algorithm. You would. Which is going to be? Are you are prime? You are you too? Our prime, you. And then that will set you up for having your entire cross lined up. The same case applies when you have the two pair that or the pair of that line up across from each other, You're gonna end up doing the same algorithm you would on the three by three to handle that special case. You would do the same thing on this one. Now that we have it lined up, everything's matching. We're gonna move on to our corners. You know which corner is solved because it will be leveled off top sides. Everything will be leveled off. So you know that this corner is soft. You will know if a corner is not solved. If you can tell that that corner clearly does not fit in the spot that it's in. So for example, this one, it doesn't matter which way I twist this. It's not really gonna line up no matter what. It won't line up on all three sides. Same thing here. That spot is way too small for this piece. And then this spot, his way too big for this piece. So now we know we're going to perform our corner our corner rotation algorithm in order to try and see if we can get this one in the right spot. Same algorithm applies. We're gonna do the you Are you prime l prime. You are prime, you prime l check this one. Still not in the right spot. Way too big for that spot. So we're gonna do it again. Now we have it solved. Now, if you are privy to the first beginners method tutorial that I posted then I gave you a tip , letting you know that when this is solved, that tells you that the other two are automatically in the right spot or if this one's in the right spot, these air in the red spot, This will tell you the status of the other two. So you don't have to bother looking at the used to see if they're in the right spot. This will tell you so now that you know that those two are in the right spot, then you can start to do either turn him and then start doing you your r d r or you can turn the whole thing and then start doing it there. So we're gonna be doing the same thing we would do on the three by three. If we ended up with this case, I'll show you doing the same algorithms that we did before. So same thing this one's in the right spot. That one's not. So we do the algorithm, it's still not in the right spots. That tells me these two are not in the right spot. Now it's in the right spots. And now I know these two are in the right spot. So we're going to start by doing this algorithm. Same thing we did in, Ah, the normal three by three. I haven't done beginners in a long time. All right, so we're gonna start there, So we're gonna pick either one of these and we're gonna start our algorithm. We're gonna go our prime d prime r d and continue until that corner right here is solved. And then make sure you do your last d Move it over just like you normally would, and repeat the process. And there you go. That is how you solve a mirror cube or bump cube as they like to call it 6. Congratulations!: so I hope this course was helpful. It's been a pleasure. Teach it to you guys. And as you can see, this is a little bit easier than expected, especially if you already know how to knock out the three by three. This is gonna be significantly easier than a lot of people think. And you can easily impress your friends with this trick. A lot of people don't even know what this keep is. And a lot of them haven't even seen this before, so this is pretty impressive.
