1. Introduction: Hi, welcome. In this course, I'll be showing you how to use Melodyne five. I'll be teaching you, think you need know about this plugin. Learn the ins and outs off this amazing plugin in order for you to know what each feature does. And nowhere I think is an able to use Melodyne with conflict in and will allow you to pitch correct or edit any recordings and coding phone calls. Not only that, there are also sound design aspects. So if you want to learn Melodyne, and I'd like to take my course in Malcolm. 2. Different versions of Melodyne: There are four different versions of melodyne five to choose from when Boeing, first one is the essential, which has the most basic features, which offers a single track only to the main tool which moves the pitch center of a note, change the timing of when Note Set vitae in half. Swot tool and zoom tool, you won't be able to do more of the advanced stuff, but it's a quite affordable poised, gets thought to in the world of melodyne. Nets is Assistant which I mean that was editing for one check at time, allows you to use all of the toolkit such as pitch for Barto, modulation TO limb pitch drift, the format tool for formatting, shifting and amp pivot to toe where you can change the actual phoneme off knows and they standard loan timing tall and they no separation tool. Not only that, you can export audio to midi. And in the next version that the editor at the ability to add the polyphonic audio using DNA auto correct, no access. And they also includes amazing tempo detection and editing abilities in Studio first and being the most expensive, which has all the features. And you can edit on limited number of tracks. And the one that I am using this course bought f think that Oh tissue will also apply to other versions as well. And you can also acquired your version. 3. Basics: Today we'll be talking about the basics. So I have Melodyne 50 opened in motto has a VST plugin, but you can also use it as a standalone app on your computer. Before we start using Melodyne, always use IP cloaking first finger on the PST chain. Because if you have a EQ or compressor and over affects, the nail will also be transferred to the plugin, which you don't want to happen. Now depending on what DO what Thurston that you're using. Plucking will also come with a which has lot faster transforming audio, where you just have to press play ball will be used in a normal person where we have to press transfer and fast lie and wait for the audio to be captured in that login. And then it'll become clubs. And for whatever reason, the notes are on one line or one pitch, go up here and then to smooth Arctic, if he said vocal track. Also in this first week, that digital workstation that I am using is that if we move the old you'd tracking the dole, it will not move in the actual plug-in and are independent from each other. And even now we have moved it in the dole. It will still playing side of plug-in. And if you remove the audio clipping a dole, it will not play boat instead be playing the plucking version till that locking clip has ended. And if you look at the top of the head there as well of the plugin, see the darker shaded area is where Melodyne will not be playing anything couple instead of the dough. And how hoity-toity the area will be, the area that the cloaking will be playing and not the distal workstation. And if you can't see this dark shade the area, go to Options in the note editor and go to Show replace ranges. So while if we want to let the dog place sum up the audio and not inside the plug-in. That's like some of the plebs and hit delete, then I can update the place range. And to do that, we have to go on top here in the header and white click and select this. And now the plugin will automatically stores the data to find or manage these files. We simply going to the info pane and click on the Project tab. There we can see all the files that are transferred. And if we right-click here, you have different management options. And then there's show in folder which will open a folder containing them files. Then I'll be going through the interface or you'll be become, get used to using it. So what we're looking at here are the notes from a OD of folk would check if the net DO that. I'm using and laser known as blobs or nose in Melodyne. And here this whole area is known as a mill editor. There most of the editing takes place. And you can also hide different areas or show certain areas, even want to focus on the certain tasks. Book sample on the top left here, we can hide or show different areas. First one is info pane, and the will show information on selected clubs. And the info pane is CBT therapy useful? Sync certain settings for certain things. Net surplus, trackless, and when we are using more than one track, we can hide or show them here, or we can use them, has the best things to track. Lastly, we have got a sound editor, which we'll show here the button which is used for sound design and so on. And we can leave all these free Tang done if that what you want. Here it shows the key next to that is that tempo menu here. And here at the top are menus, different functions to choose from. We can choose what TOEFL, alkyne, three of them, that's going to be used. And in version 5, nervous now, because if pips rich this new here in the middle top part, we have different tools and we can switch between edit mode or no assignment mode. And unease different tools that are drop-down menus by holding down left-click. And here we have the new sibilant Balanced tool and the new fade tool. Let's stop here we have three macros. First one being pitched macro, and here we have time in Maxwell, and that's the good new macro, which is the left wing Mac. Well, here is the editing mix fader, which speaking what's going to be heard inside the note editor. And there are ways to control what's shown in the note editor. Here we have the pitch quit with different options. And in version 5, there is the new chord and new court scale, which we will go into later. And here we have different display options, pull up labs and selves. And here we have a timing quit, which you can turn it off and on. And we can set the values. We want the notes to snap too. And here we have a chord and key used tools detection and key and scaled detection. Then the last thing is that Melodyne will be ducked into certain dose like coup pesos to do one. And they use the ARRA version. And while we go through the rest of the course, there will be certain functions that won't be fallible in F refurbished and up to the software. Whereas some of you may have certain promotions and so on. Well, I'll be teaching the most common things too often. Versions. 4. Playback: Today I'll be talking about play back in your dish to workstation. So I've loaded up a few track inside of many Dine. And whenever we press play in that door, Melodyne playback will follow your toe playback. So that's hit play in my digital workstation. And we can double-click here to stop playing in Melodyne. And depending on what version of your, OH, what DO YOU using, it will also apply in your door, but for instance, interesting side up the plug-in. We can also double-click here on the background to also apply. Next is if we select Laplacian we want to be working with and hold down alt and then double-click on the mouse. It will only play them clubs, no matter where we double-click. Clicking anywhere in the top header here will change the position of the playhead. Now one of the cool picture is we can scroll up further. Odeo depends on the speed of muting the playback on a mouse by clicking track new mouse at the top of the header, which is a good way knowing where you are in the audio file. And if you get enough of a software that will cause the sound off your computer and wanting Gai Qu type of sound effects. And of course in Melodyne, it'll being key and you can have m-nest amount of possibilities, could make a cold pad sound from that recording and put it into a sampler and change it however you like. And it's quite cool. Winemaking own sounds in this. Why? Net surplus? Where if we click in track of the top of the time we were there, I'll put down here, we can zoom in or out for better understanding of what's going on. Then we can click and track at the edges to move around in the editor or use these balls. Now, if we select any of these blobs and then we can use either the deaf to a Y arrow keys to go through them and the O play there, plops, that's being selective. 5. Mix Fader: Today I'll be talking about the mix fader here at the top white. And as you may know, we can transfer more than one old you tracking to the lookin. And here, if we show tract list, your show them all. And then this icon with two separate clubs here and this is highlighted. That means it gets showing that selected audio track. So you can work with the audio track. And if you hold down Control or Command on a Mac and left-click, then you can work with more than one audio track and you can even de-select limo and show nothing. So how do we rename the audio tracks or even have them show up being Melodyne from the first place. Now, when working with in Utah, he simply just rename the audio tracks inside of your DAW. But if you walk into standard loan, he can just right-click and we name here. And for them to show up, you have to load up looking and each hold you chuck, you want to work with in these two workstation. Now you may also have noticed there were no oil come to the color blobs here which has query Dell. We can click on that and you'll show up the track book way dealt the UPS, but you can't edit them. It's just there for reference point. So this is where the mix fader comes into play. So when the next five days on the left, we will going to be able to hear the editable track that are selected. Then when they seen the middle, we then hear the track or call them. Reference clocks are basically just like a mixed voted to mix between Editor, highlight clubs and then the reference plops. Sometimes you had to press playing the door to be updated, to be moving this slider. And lastly, when place on the four white, we will then be able to hear all the tracks inside the plug-in no matter if it's not highlighted and so on. So for quick recap, place in the mix fades too far left will make it so that we only hear the trucks we have selected here in the track list. When placing towards the middle will be able to hear the reference track that we have highlighted in red place and get into the white, we'll be able to hear every track in the cloaking that's in the track list. 6. Loop (Cycle Mode): I'll be going through how to set up a loop, also known that has as the cycle mode. Now, depending on which door first and you're using for many dying when setting up the lip moons. So you do, it will automatically set up the loop inside the loop looking for, in my case, it doesn't do that bit weak, so I have to manually do it and we can do it inside of the plugin by clicking Check in the lower part of the tongue Muda, and double-clicking the background to play that looping up looking. And if he does things so dramatically when changer the loop location inside the plugin, it also changed the looping. So Adelphi door to now when we are doing pretty much anything go move again. It can be melted down, it snaps to the quid. So even when making our own new pair, it will snap to whatever we have set l quit too. But if you don't want to use Nappe, We can hold down the Alt key or turn the Earth so it rigging, click and check and lead to even shorten or longer using a normal way off hold now, oh, we can even double-click on the lead to delete the loop, and then click and drag to make a new loop. Rican click and move the loop by click and tracking their loop. Again, we can use the old key, move it without using any snap. We can also select the plebs you want to work on folk sample. And then hold down shift and double-click on the leap to change the loop on him plebs, again, you'll be using this nat mode. So again, we can press Shift and O double-click without using the snap mode. So let to say it, loop mode is a quite right just to focus on certain parts on clubs, he felt the need to keep pressing CLI or double-clicking on the background to play the audio. 7. Ara Version & Selecting: Today be talking about selecting. But first I'd like to say I have now swapped to a different door and Crick the speak health faster is using a version which I am using it in duct mode in Studio One because I wanted to show you the slight differences. So in Studio One we can now open any audio track holding down Control command, then M to open with Melodyne. Or we can go at the top here, then Audi, and then click Edit with Melodyne. Simply right-click and the audio tracks links select Edit with Melodyne, or we can remove Melodyne and unnamed side note on overdose like logic, you have to actually press play in UDL for all of you to be working in Melodyne. We can undock or close it. Then we can also double-click on the audio to open it back up. As you may notice when the music playback with a loop in the studio one here do the same for Melodyne also as before in the info pane, there won't be no projects, There's save files should be located in your door folders. You may also notice there's a added the icon could clip mode, but if we turn this mode on, it will only show the clip containing the audio inside of that look in and here in the track list, it will be quite L and won't allow us to select all edit over tracks. We also have a compare feature. But if I change the pitch here, and if I wanted to hear what it was before, any type of changes which kinda acts like when you bypass a cloaking. But we use a compare feature and press Control or Command see to undo a change. So we can just click on the plops to select them all. Hold down the left mouse click and track which plops we want to select. You can select one and can show or Command click to select certain blobs we want. Or we moved them from the selection and click on the background to the select them all. There is a feature called snake selection where we can hold down the Shift key and clicking note, then move the mouse away and add another note to this selection. And we can see a line connecting to the plebs. Next we can select to using the pitch ruler. And if we click on certain, no ear will select them all the flops or notes in that pitch. And a side note is that if we have setup and loop and if we press a certain null, it will only select the notes within that loop and that outside of the loop. And we can also hold down Control command to open notes in that pitch ruler. And we can add them to this lecture and also we can double-click and what they'll do is select all the notes in that pitch, but also in off the octaves in that key. And we can also click and track the pitch related to select a number of notes. Same thing if that loop is set up, who only select them? Notes routine that new. We can also right-click on the node editor. We can also select all. And then we have like special first ones being restored as selection, which we'll select the last thing you have selected. And the rest is easily self explained. And we can also go to the Edit menu and you'll show up there as well. 8. Pitch Macro: So I'll be talking about pitch correction. And we are going to be looking at the pitch macro, which is one of the ways to easily tune the nose and the vast selected any blobs and macro will only affect limb. But if you don't have any finger I selected, it will affect order plops, we can go over here and click to use a pitch macro. Or we can go here to the Edit menu and then here macros and correct pitch. Okay, back on the pitch macro that loyal to the pitch center Pause that slopes towards the Neo semitone. Oh, snap to the scale cord. If you are using Snap To quote scale, which is an another new feature in Melodyne 5. So when we move in this Lloyd, uh, we are moving their plops towards the pitch Center. And also if I click on there one and plop here, we can see which no, it is next to that is the offset and menus. The pitch Center I'm in this slide is at max. Offsets should be at sea level, so it would be completely in tune in that key also may help in looking at clubs by 10 gun. This option here show intended notes that it may help to see how much off tune notes are. Okay, Next up is pits drift. We can, even now that for plateau, we also have the option here include notes manually, which means if you have manually edit the outside of the macro may be using pitch tool note separation and ran record a macro way. We usually exclude them, plops, because it will think, Oh hey, you're already gotten them clubs, how will you want them to be or if you want them notes be affected to simply plus this option here, which will include them clubs, okay, next fingers that if we select blebs are already being changed with pitch macro, you will see that same thing for ones that hasn't been changed. But if we select both ones that asking change and the ones that have been, we will see the minimum and the maximum values. And you can see pitch centers at a 100 percent and Pitts drift is our 84. Now we embed, we got different detection modes here, the top-left, but Dalit for monophonic focal point now that Don also detect sibilant sounds and they are left alone. So macro only changes the pitch parts of recording. Waiver memory transpose and knows only effects the pitch and the sibilant sounds. 9. Chord Track: Today I'll be talking about called track. Melodyne has the ability knowing the cause and the changes to key and changes to the sound. Now we want Melodyne to actually analyze the chords and using their polyphonic, which works best for using chord. We can also show code check. First way we can go to Options and press show cause. Or we can go here on the y by this icon, or we can show that KEY, check by this icon or both, or buy options. But back to the show called track. So if I wake sick here in pressed analyze cause, and here it has detected the chords. Please note that the tempo has to set up correctly to be able to forward it, to analyze, to work the best way for them. Lying dog for the bars and the beaks. Remember that b, can we analyze, for instance, if we add the more part C, no change something by white clicking here. Or again, if it's a certain plops, we want to select them and they are only we analyze limb. And if I click here, it will show up suggested courts are suggests a keys. And if I picked any of them, you won't change the pitch off any kind of y. Or we could just type our own code or keys if we are certain, foresaw what that code actually is. So key, if we click on them, a frame pops of ready to be renamed by double-clicking on them. You can also move the mouse on these lines will appear. And if we double-click on making new code change, or we can move the already made ones by click and drag in. And when making new code change, Melodyne will automatically detect them chords. Or if we right-click and we turn it off by clicking, we analyzed to inspect and chords. So now it won't analyze any chords. Nets is when MY also Shift-click more than one core to have them selected. So if we wanted to merge chords, we can, and so on. We can use the arrow keys to move between different codes. You can shift click and then use our keys to select them. Instead of using your mouse. You can use the up and down arrow keys to go through the suggested courts or keys. Next, we can use control or command in the arrow keys up and down to shift to a tonically based on the key. Next is Alton, char or Command key. Then go up or down to transpose that cause or put down. Tell us tick into a scale. Remember all of this disappears shortly, won't change anything to the actual sound. If we right-click, we will also see an option where it says monitor codes, basically what that means. It will play the chord when moving the cause or select them, which is a nice feature. Next up is to enable slash codes for bass notes or extended chords for showing extension with four chairs or base year chords. And lastly, we can totally change how the codes are displayed. Boat going to preferences and change the code symbols however you like them to show all pass. 10. Key Track & Pitch Grid: Today we'll be talking about the pitch squared and the key track. As from the last video, we can click on this icon to bring up the key track or by the option menu here, just like the cold track, we can right-click to see suggested keys and hear different modes and can even open a scalar editor. Now over here we can turn on the pitch quit here. By default when turned on and notes will be snapped to the pitch squared by certain scale. And we can change the scale here, for example, these folk course here, a minor and not D minor. So there's, change it up. So when it's time we move the note around, deals die in k with a scale. Also, you may notice that certain keys on the left here after pits quit will be cradle. That's because them keys are not enact certain scale, but we can also change the settings here. We can turn the keys in their path. They won't snap to this certain scale and we can move that plebs anywhere we like and the net snap, we are simply moving semitones. Here. We've got different view modes. And now even with Snap mode on, we can hold all which will place and no NUM we'd like. Even with Snap mode on, with the main toast selected, we can double-click and nose and your move at and snapped up club to close this key in that scale and change the offset to 0, which makes sure all the plebs or less selected plebs up pits correctly. Now I recommend you to do this with all of the recordings distinct tune with the scale, change the scale completely and it can't exist. Experiment and change the plops to certain key you want for certain sung it. So up to you at the bottom of the pits quid settings here, we can see that note names or we can look at lemmas, woman named meals. 11. Using the Pitch Grid: Okay, So I have used a onetime focal here. I'll quickly select them all and double-click on one of the plebs and the old tune them all to the scale and we can change it blocks around. Well, put down, that sounds the best. Let's use the note Separation Tool where it will cut the note into two blobs. Remembered to double-click on interesting tune or move them to your liking and use the note separation tool allows you to make certain curves and think to yourself, okay, this is flopped needs to be separated to be on a different node and so on. And if we have harmonies, we can do as finger just showed you, and you'll be able to fix and pitch correct limb this way. Or same thing for instruments that needs the pitch fixed reimbursement. Polyphonic is best when there's more than one forest lattice plane. And maybe we need a key that's office scale. Remember to hold an OH and move the plot. Lastly, let's use the snap to court and the pitch macro. And it will snap to the closest keys within the chord track. 12. Quantize Time Macro And the Time Grid: Now we'll be focusing on the timing quid and the quantized time macro. So to use the time create desperate before we can come over here to turn it on or off, or we simply use the options time create, and use active and through options, we can select the value we want and never tip. Instead of holding left-click on the time grid, we can then click and then choose the values we want to use. Well, having snap bow down and we can come find all the end up these blobs and move them all. As always, you can ignore the snap mode and hold down Alt to shorten up plops. Let's quickly showed that time toolbar. You can see these lines and most of them have triangles, which means it's starting positions and menus in a note separation and cut some clubs and the wrong have the triangle, which tells you that certain club has been separated. Next up is quantized time macro, which is like the quid and the timing of the plebs and quantize time macro works on based on the starting decisions and the SEP, writing notes from using their time tool. Also when using metallic mode at time MacWorld, we've stopped bit later from the starting positions as it were known as siblings sounds, which ECOSOC best results. So let's open the quantized macro OP, by default on oto, your muffin notes to the beats. Then we can choose different timing quiz. Then there's track which will quantize to a never mounted dying plucking track. And we can go here and choose what audio track we want to quantize timing to never track. So that's increase a slider here. So basically move the plops to the quid. 13. Note Levelling Macro and The main Tool: There is a new feature in Melodyne five, which is note that following macro and the Ohmae quiet notes louder. Or we can make the loud notes quieter or use both, which kinda like a compressing the y. So if there's a problem with the holes of the old year and for whatever reason you don't want to use uncompressed though, we can just use the note left wing macro and we can use a leveling macro here. We wanted the Edit menu under the macros. Okay, now I want to talk about the main tours is useful, acts like a smart tool as you move the mouse over some things on different clubs, use different functions and you get most of the stuff done with this toy alone or ID FO the main tool should already be on when opening up a new instance of melodyne holds a selected by this icon or you can press F1. Well, we simply right-clicking the note editor and select what toy you look to use. We can just click and press loves opened down to move the pitch. All flip-flops. We can turn on Show plop info on to Options, minutes, having me pull up the blobs as more pitch squid shows up here. And if we zoom in on the plops and move our mouse on them, line should appear telling you you can move or short-term them, or making lungs. And men, these lines also appear but can also go to top up the blob if your main tool selected. And instead of going to Note Set right tool, we can just double-click and the offset, write the null. And if a tip is that if we want to undo all of the changes we have made, we have to select plops, we want o, select them all by pressing down control or command. And I go to the Edit here, then we still rational and until all changes or we can only undo certain tests, like only undo the time and so on. 14. Pitch Tool, Pitch Modulation Tool, Pitch Drift tool: Narrow used to pitch tool bar here or pressing F2. And there are sub tools for most of these tools here, and we can cycle between them. Boy, keep pressing this show called holistic instincts, F2, okay, that seems to pitch tool. We can click and truck notes. Oh, Danny boy, semitones. We can hold them all. And the old change the offset to, and we can still double-click and plops to tune nose. You can also double-click here and type to change to certain pitch owing to this over boxed top the offset Mao. And note the tip is if when holding downing no and has to be moved the mouse left to avoid you apply where the mouse is out. But back to the pitch tool. If we move the mouse near the end of the blob, the mouse icon will change to the pitch, transition, deeper or less steep. And we can use separation tool toy to make hard transition. So we've pitched TO selected click End of the blobs and even truck or pull down. You can also actually random noise that pits or the timing by going to Edit here, then select one subtotal is a tiny bit and just stick is a large male. Next to tolls is going to be modulation and the trick tool, which are on the pitch tool subtotals and pitch modulations full been as fails or vibrato, just don't overdo on the Dewey as long as they sound natural and the artificial sounding with cento touches. And you don't want the listener to notice it when listening to vocals, unless you are looking for that T paints though of sound, which you can do by making the percentage here and the SE will send an NDA is the pitch drift rates used for long notes that might be going flat near the end. So when pitch modulation told we can click and drag, oh poor damn nasi, move up or down. You can see the lines changes well, and we've pitch modulation selected. We can also then double-click to reset the modulation. But if we double-click again instead of resetting your change to 0% and so on. Same thing for the pitch drift. We can also open up the info pane, which is like a Inspector. And we can also see the percentages here and change it here. 15. Formant Tool & Amplitude Tool: Now let's use the Format tool, which is the color or turn off the sound, which can make a sound Dakpo point, we felt the need to change the pitch of this sound. So it's the third tool, or press F4, it'll show up like these kind of notes. We can select one or more than one and truck go up or down. And as always, you can double-click to reset. Then we can go end of the blobs and turn to format transition tool. You can also, once we have moved the format or pulled down, we can then EBUS format notes and track him down or use of gloves to transpose. The next tool is the amplitude tall, and she's the fourth one in IT tools here. And as always, we impress the show called F0 o. We can press F4 and use the offer two modes. Saw that they tool and a simple blunt tool, which so far also new to Melodyne five, it's quite easy tool to understand. You can click on what clubs we'd love to edit with the amplitude tool, you can click and track or put down, making it louder and down for making the sound quieter. And as you can see, the plops change. The big A's and the smaller clubs saw less louder. The sound is going to be. Not only that, we can also double-click on the note or more than one plot to meet them and then double-click to unmute them. We can go at the end of flops and the attend to the athlete to transition towards eighth, the first note is loud and if the no afterwards is less louder, and if I make a hard transition, the end of the DAO plopped will be tiny bit less loud, like a fade though. And the club that's quiet, Alice stars bit more louder. And you can see this has the plebs volume changes as I change its transition. 16. Fade Tool & Sibilant Balance Tool: Now check out the fade tool, which is the fourth tool. We'll get to it by the F4 shortcut till we get the tool selected and never easy tool to use. To start using the fade tool. We can go at the end of the plops, while the star and DoubleClick, which we can then track them around. Well, another way is we can left-click and drag. If we want to track them again, just click and hold on this little circle button or this line. Basically it's like a fading out. The, if we play Alice towel cloth, that falling of fading and end of the club, it will fade out. You can also click and drag up or down to change how strong the fight is going to be. You can use both fade in and fade out on a same plot. We can soft nope attacks on sounds if we want to. Net sub-pieces sibling Balanced tool, which can then use to even lower siblings or higher siblings. We can even MOOC sibilant sounds completely or non sibilant sounds, EBIT dragging up or down, or we can double-click, and that will only move their siblings on this electric lamps using this instead of a standard ds. So it's much better at detecting non pitch pops book sample that has sibling parts. And that can allow you to possibly ear train your ears to start noticing sibilant sounds better. 17. Timing Tool, Time Handles & Attack Speed Tool: Let's quickly check out the timing tall, but it's just a fifth toe. Or to SAS always use the F5 shortcut. This TO will basically allow us to change the length of the nose. We can click and track either starved clubs or the end of them. Some notes he car, depending on this snap settings. Or we can just hold down all an IO stretcher blobs and even the siblings we can mess around and experiment 2, however you'd like if the main tools, you just fix the pitch question with all the rest of tos is simply make adjustments now sound white for you. If I double-click it, I can click and drag. And the last tool here is the tax BI tool. You'll shorten omega tech longer. So we're not taking on these starting circles or shorter, know, kiloton angle the text and then I'll click and drag down. You'll make the tech longer. 18. Note Tools, Copy And Paste: I will quickly go through the notes separation tools. As always, we can press F6 to select them. We use these tools for cutting plops on to note cutting separations, we can double-click. We can then know with the first tool and the Omega note Separation slice of the plopping 22 nose or two blobs. And when we do that, you'll move and detect a new pitch folder to plops analysis to furthermore customizes blobs like begin be tune them by top clicking on them, or transpose the pitch on the plops and so on. We can then also move these lines at the start and at the end of these blobs, which changes the length of the nose, we can then also double-click on these lines to actually remove the note Separation, which is a nice feature. Another tip is that if we have more than one blob selected and if we changed his lines, all of them change. Same thing, give it double-click on the rise, lay all will remove the note separations till now with the next tool, we can even make their transition soft or hard or double-click on these lines when they are brackets, it means it's a hard transition. Then we can double-click to make it back to a soft transition. But only if there were some from the first place unnecessary. I've used the mode percussive on whether transition will be hard, but we can use a soft transition no matter what. So soft separation only happens between consecutive nose and then provide the link between the notes. So if the end of the first node is moved, the beginning Gulf of foaling no, moves along with it to make sure that no gap opens between them. Why basically means if they are plebs next to each other, it'll quite links between them. And when we change that landfill, we use ANOVA tool on one of the blobs. It'll also affect the next block. So hod separation or hard transitions are independent, but if I change one, he won't affect any other blobs. Quite easy to understand. Let's do a quick recap. We only use soft transitions if by TiVo, already soft to begin with. If they are not. And a hard transition from star, then we can't use soft transitions unless we are on percussive mode where by default it will be on hard transitions book can use sf swell and that soft transitions we can affect the plops next to them, fall on hard transitions. It won't affect the Mets blobs. Also a quick thing to mention, if we right-click on any blob, then on the note tool link, click Set white know Melodyne will cook the best part of the plot for you. Okay, so that's finger-like to tug bell is copy and paste. Now whenever we copy by holding down Control or Command presi or through the edit menu, you will see that playback would change depending on the time grid settings, which is useful when pasting, when holding down Control command, then phi. And when we paste, it will also change the playback, then paste it once more to actually paste that blob. 19. Different Algorithm Modes: Okay, Today I'll be talking about the different detection modes. So the first one is universal that it's good for complex Audi or like where he has, because SIF and pitch sounds. And if you wanted to change a pixel, the timing of a complex audio, this mode is the best one for that. And as you can tell on the left here, there's no pitch ruler or note names, but instead to show semitones. So this is good trustee the speed up or slow down without the need to looking at the pitch quid and whatnot net snows. These are percussive and basically this is useful for crumbs or cursive or even noise elements. Again, he runs showing the keys and the quid, we can just flip flops and transpose them. The next mode with this customer pitch mode, riches new to Melodyne 5. So this male is good for percussive elements. Actually do have certain tune pictures, like to ensnare or tune kick or tuned AOA care CAN so on. And in this mode you will actually see there's keys and the scale where we can move certain parts, different keys. And never tip is that both recursive pitch or double-click shows a feature where it would detect and then display and allow editing of siblings. But with metallic mode, it detected them displayed on its own if both cursive pips, sibilant controls are off automatically. So we must turn the arm boy, this menu here, then you'll show up if they're sending net surplus, the one we use, the mouse switches mode, which is the most used for phone calls. Now when the recipients are not hidden, we can see these little lines, but it shows that the siblings, and whenever we move notes, it won't actually affect the siblings. Only ran r3 stretch to plops, but changing the pitch will never affect them. Next two modes are mostly useful when there's caused like more than one focal piano, strings pad and so on. And we can actually come here and change the notes around. Unless moments where there's some light differences between the nodes. Melodyne five by d for the option for most, most of the times, good enough. You won't need to set up the modes yourself. 20. Note Assignment Mode and Energy Share Tool: Now let's start using an assignment notebook. Click on this icon here. It's main purpose. Check if Melodyne has picked out the notes precisely. And if Melodyne hasn't men here, we can fix any mistakes. Again, Melodyne is a quite smart looking and most of the time we don't need to do any of this type of stuff. Please note to self that when there's any changes done, there won't be any effect on the actual audio is more of official thing. And we're just making sure that the notes are being displayed correctly to what is being played. So with mode selected the colon and no editor background changes to that was no, that we are now not in the normal mode anymore when reworking the assignment mode, there are no types. First one being active notes, which looked like the normal plops. And we have an inactive notes, which are these ones here, which are the East outlines. And lastly, we have silent notes. Now that inactive notes are the ones we mostly be using to fix any mistakes. And these are where Melodyne are for about drawing the normal Saudi plops, but decided to place it somewhere else. So it leaves inactive as sound pictures to the big hint, where else you might want to move the normal blob useful feature. And for the last one, the silent notes is where you'll show up whenever there's a pike between two notes, folks sample at pref, or space between words, we're paused and his score. And if it has no pitch curve and being in the assignment mode, that tools would change. And that's always the main tool can perform different modes. If I move the mouse over here that blobby or change to the activation tool. For if I move the mouse over the lab at the top, it will then change to the note Separation Tool. We can also go to the activation tool here as well. So when using assignment tool, we mostly use the undelivered Dalvik or polyphonic modes. And mommy move our mouse while using the main tool that activation to on the plops, your shoulder overtones in the background. Now we can double-click on the outline clubs and the will act to fight them and deactivate the overlap. Or if you have more than one club at the same time, we can double-click on the blob to deactivate them. We can also move the plebs around by holding down Alt, remember we are now affecting the Audi or the pits up the plebs is just fish really when we are in the note Simon mode. Now when we are in the polyphonic mode, we can see this ball here. I'm going to remove it. We will see more of the outlines tending to active nodes. And when we track it to the left, there'll be less active nodes. It also got a bracket at the end here where we can also change it and you'll change the threshold to the amount of active nose. And if we have the packet at max, and if we also moves with our mouse around different areas, we will see energy is black shadow bits where it's a fish will help guide, shown because there's more energy in the harmonics. And the never tip is if we go at the top or Sqoop at the top, there are leased lines in useful when we only want a certain length to be working on. And they've really clicking track list line down and any clubs within these lines will be forward that be deactivated. Next we move to the lungs back up. We also go out there. And the same thing you can track leased lines up. Next I will select this separation type tool, and you will see these lines have popped up and they are useful. Starting points has always melodyne does a good enough job, or if we want, we can change these by going to the top with these triangles or double-clicking on them to deactivate them or make them act here or over here with the ball to change number melt of starting points. We can also make more than one club to soft transition. Boy select limb and white click then converts selection. Let's quickly talk about the last tool, which is the energy shared told. Now this tool only works in last two moves here. And what their energy shared tool does, we can put more energy to one felt mint tool. Why are we moving off overs and change the harmonic balance? And we can click and drag or put down WHO is simple. 21. Dynamics, EQ and Emphasis: Now let's check out the sound editor. Remember to access a sound editor by clicking here and it will appear at the bottom, basically will allow us to change the tone and the Kula off the audio and allow us to be quite tip and change his soundness much as we'd like a sound editor. We're only working metallic or polyphonic mode and how it works, it will basically make a spectrum analysts and make it so that we can change the harmonics of the audio and we can change each level. Now let's check how the emphasis slider, which controls the contrast between the spectral often notes. And if I move this to the white, will make care half of the effect. And if I move the slider to the left, it will control or attainment. And we can turn to it on the white to make the audio or focus bit crispier. And just to be on the left, you'll make it sound a bit fuzzier. Oh, we can move the slider to the max and get rid artifacts which we may want or just added them in. No teach to work station, export it to make your own library of sounds and even more late Tobin be forever changed your audio. So metadata is not just a pitch correction software can also be used towards editing the phone calls or foe sound design, an uneasy sliders or on any of the settings we can hold down Control or Command and left-click to reset them. Nets is the diamagnetic switch acts like an compressor. Move to the white are quieter, parts gets quieter and we get more of that transient. Snow, if I'll move to the left, will get louder. And that's to check out is the EQ section. Click on the EQ and you'll split up into bands law, one semitone wanted, and we can change each band, EVA or poo, damn boy, tracking him, open down. We can also go and the whole down left-click and drag. And you'll select more than one band and change them to avoid. Or we can hold down shift and select certain bands while holding down Shift, then click and drag up or down. And if we right-click, some basic functions will come up where we can reset a finger or even random noise the settings by pressing shovel spectrum or begin open the menu by left clicking on this icon here. And now the bottom here, these sliders will affect the EQ with the harmonics in different ways. So the first one is how whiteness or how doe the audios going to be. The next one will change the costs or the pig's. Under VQ there is tonalities lighter, which, which lets you to isolate certain knowledge. We can Nikki. Here, we can change that key and then we tend to slide it to the wide the notes outside of the key are being used and 10 sludge it to the left and now it's refund NAPQI are then being choosed. Next is odd and even slider on the harmonics, which will lower for the employee if the odds or even. And the last Lloyd is the comp, but changes through the filter and we can click on the numbers to remove certain amount of spans. 22. Synth and Harmonics: Now let's talk about these free and the trick is, we can change them around. You can change it sound like it's the same thing. Please know that metadata itself will make a center like a line in the middle of Melodyne in the note to edge to anything below that will be placing low section and then the fingers will be placed into the high. So if we make any changes, the low section of harmonics, it will only change to the lower notes and vice versa, Fuller Hi section. If we make any changes in the harmonics to both high and low notes, we have a sacco had to change the game. We can bypass this sound editor. We can also hold down Control or the Command and have more than one section turned on, like we have both seen for all harmonics displayed at the same time. 23. Demonstration: So here I'm going to quickly demonstrate volatile. And I have placed, they've abandoned. And we need to change a scale. As always, double-click on them and the yogis staying at scale and tearing them the offset to say hello. And just mess around with the notes to the sounds. And we can just go to serenade to mess around with the format shift. 24. Quick Recap & Final words: A quick recap on the course to help us scale you want and turn on pitch quits, nap on DoubleClick and notes to quickly tune them and they'll automatically place the blobs in the white keys in that scale it down the toilet papers find protocols ARE a person is faster than normal version. Melodyne, he's one of the best software, therefore had fans pitch correction. Now only that it can be useful sound design. And I said, thank you for taking my course on how to kick in, you know, to start using Melodyne and be able to pitch correct focus. I mean, really use any focus for sole purpose to pitch correct. But instead show you the tools you need to know to stop pitch correcting. Think they even used to sound editor. So thank you, Goodbye.
