1. Introduction: Hi, welcome. In this course, I'll be showing you how to use Melodyne five. I'll be teaching you, think you need know about this plugin. Learn the ins and outs off this amazing plugin in order for you to know what each feature does. And nowhere I think is an able to use Melodyne with conflict in and will allow you to pitch correct or edit any recordings and coding phone calls. Not only that, there are also sound design aspects. So if you want to learn Melodyne, and I'd like to take my course in Malcolm. 2. Different versions of Melodyne: There are four different versions of melodyne five to choose from when Boeing, first one is the essential, which has the most basic features, which offers a single track only to the main tool which moves the pitch center of a note, change the timing of when Note Set vitae in half. Basics: Today we'll be talking about the basics. So I have Melodyne 50 opened in motto has a VST plugin, but you can also use it as a standalone app on your computer. Before we start using Melodyne, always use IP cloaking first finger on the PST chain. Then I'll be going through the interface or you'll be become, get used to using it. So what we're looking at here are the notes from a OD of folk would check if the net DO that. Well, here is the editing mix fader, which speaking what's going to be heard inside the note editor. And there are ways to control what's shown in the note editor. Here we have the pitch quit with different options. And in version 5, there is the new chord and new court scale, which we will go into later. And here we have different display options, pull up labs and selves. And here we have a timing quit, which you can turn it off and on. And we can set the values. We want the notes to snap too. And here we have a chord and key used tools detection and key and scaled detection. Then the last thing is that Melodyne will be ducked into certain dose like coup pesos to do one. And they use the ARRA version. And while we go through the rest of the course, there will be certain functions that won't be fallible in F refurbished and up to the software. Whereas some of you may have certain promotions and so on. Well, I'll be teaching the most common things too often. Versions. 4. Playback: Today I'll be talking about play back in your dish to workstation. So I've loaded up a few track inside of many Dine. And whenever we press play in that door, Melodyne playback will follow your toe playback. So that's hit play in my digital workstation. And we can double-click here to stop playing in Melodyne. And depending on what version of your, OH, what DO YOU using, it will also apply in your door, but for instance, interesting side up the plug-in. We can also double-click here on the background to also apply. Next is if we select Laplacian we want to be working with and hold down alt and then double-click on the mouse. It will only play them clubs, no matter where we double-click. Clicking anywhere in the top header here will change the position of the playhead. Now one of the cool picture is we can scroll up further. Odeo depends on the speed of muting the playback on a mouse by clicking track new mouse at the top of the header, which is a good way knowing where you are in the audio file. Mix Fader: Today I'll be talking about the mix fader here at the top white. And as you may know, we can transfer more than one old you tracking to the lookin. So you can work with the audio track. And if you hold down Control or Command on a Mac and left-click, then you can work with more than one audio track and you can even de-select limo and show nothing. So how do we rename the audio tracks or even have them show up being Melodyne from the first place. Now, when working with in Utah, he simply just rename the audio tracks inside of your DAW. But if you walk into standard loan, he can just right-click and we name here. And for them to show up, you have to load up looking and each hold you chuck, you want to work with in these two workstation. Now you may also have noticed there were no oil come to the color blobs here which has query Dell. We can click on that and you'll show up the track book way dealt the UPS, but you can't edit them. It's just there for reference point. So this is where the mix fader comes into play. So when the next five days on the left, we will going to be able to hear the editable track that are selected. When placing towards the middle will be able to hear the reference track that we have highlighted in red place and get into the white, we'll be able to hear every track in the cloaking that's in the track list. 6. Loop (Cycle Mode): I'll be going through how to set up a loop, also known that has as the cycle mode. Now, depending on which door first and you're using for many dying when setting up the lip moons. Ara Version & Selecting: Today be talking about selecting. So in Studio One we can now open any audio track holding down Control command, then M to open with Melodyne. Or we can go at the top here, then Audi, and then click Edit with Melodyne. Simply right-click and the audio tracks links select Edit with Melodyne, or we can remove Melodyne and unnamed side note on overdose like logic, you have to actually press play in UDL for all of you to be working in Melodyne. We can undock or close it. Then we can also double-click on the audio to open it back up. As you may notice when the music playback with a loop in the studio one here do the same for Melodyne also as before in the info pane, there won't be no projects, There's save files should be located in your door folders. You may also notice there's a added the icon could clip mode, but if we turn this mode on, it will only show the clip containing the audio inside of that look in and here in the track list, it will be quite L and won't allow us to select all edit over tracks. We also have a compare feature. But if I change the pitch here, and if I wanted to hear what it was before, any type of changes which kinda acts like when you bypass a cloaking. But we use a compare feature and press Control or Command see to undo a change. So we can just click on the plops to select them all. Hold down the left mouse click and track which plops we want to select. You can select one and can show or Command click to select certain blobs we want. Or we moved them from the selection and click on the background to the select them all. There is a feature called snake selection where we can hold down the Shift key and clicking note, then move the mouse away and add another note to this selection. And we can see a line connecting to the plebs. Next we can select to using the pitch ruler. And if we click on certain, no ear will select them all the flops or notes in that pitch. And a side note is that if we have setup and loop and if we press a certain null, it will only select the notes within that loop and that outside of the loop. And we can also hold down Control command to open notes in that pitch ruler. And we can add them to this lecture and also we can double-click and what they'll do is select all the notes in that pitch, but also in off the octaves in that key. And we can also click and track the pitch related to select a number of notes. Same thing if that loop is set up, who only select them? Notes routine that new. We can also right-click on the node editor. We can also select all. And then we have like special first ones being restored as selection, which we'll select the last thing you have selected. And the rest is easily self explained. And we can also go to the Edit menu and you'll show up there as well. 8. Pitch Macro: So I'll be talking about pitch correction. And we are going to be looking at the pitch macro, which is one of the ways to easily tune the nose and the vast selected any blobs and macro will only affect limb. But if you don't have any finger I selected, it will affect order plops, we can go over here and click to use a pitch macro. Or we can go here to the Edit menu and then here macros and correct pitch. Okay, back on the pitch macro that loyal to the pitch center Pause that slopes towards the Neo semitone. Oh, snap to the scale cord. If you are using Snap To quote scale, which is an another new feature in Melodyne 5. So when we move in this Lloyd, uh, we are moving their plops towards the pitch Center. Offsets should be at sea level, so it would be completely in tune in that key also may help in looking at clubs by 10 gun. This option here show intended notes that it may help to see how much off tune notes are. Okay, Next up is pits drift. We can, even now that for plateau, we also have the option here include notes manually, which means if you have manually edit the outside of the macro may be using pitch tool note separation and ran record a macro way. We usually exclude them, plops, because it will think, Oh hey, you're already gotten them clubs, how will you want them to be or if you want them notes be affected to simply plus this option here, which will include them clubs, okay, next fingers that if we select blebs are already being changed with pitch macro, you will see that same thing for ones that hasn't been changed. But if we select both ones that asking change and the ones that have been, we will see the minimum and the maximum values. And you can see pitch centers at a 100 percent and Pitts drift is our 84. Now we embed, we got different detection modes here, the top-left, but Dalit for monophonic focal point now that Don also detect sibilant sounds and they are left alone. So macro only changes the pitch parts of recording. Waiver memory transpose and knows only effects the pitch and the sibilant sounds. 9. Chord Track: Today I'll be talking about called track. Melodyne has the ability knowing the cause and the changes to key and changes to the sound. Now we want Melodyne to actually analyze the chords and using their polyphonic, which works best for using chord. We can also show code check. First way we can go to Options and press show cause. Or we can go here on the y by this icon, or we can show that KEY, check by this icon or both, or buy options. But back to the show called track. So if I wake sick here in pressed analyze cause, and here it has detected the chords. Please note that the tempo has to set up correctly to be able to forward it, to analyze, to work the best way for them. Lying dog for the bars and the beaks. And if we double-click on making new code change, or we can move the already made ones by click and drag in. And when making new code change, Melodyne will automatically detect them chords. Or if we right-click and we turn it off by clicking, we analyzed to inspect and chords. So now it won't analyze any chords. Nets is when MY also Shift-click more than one core to have them selected. So if we wanted to merge chords, we can, and so on. We can use the arrow keys to move between different codes. You can shift click and then use our keys to select them. Instead of using your mouse. You can use the up and down arrow keys to go through the suggested courts or keys. Next, we can use control or command in the arrow keys up and down to shift to a tonically based on the key. Next is Alton, char or Command key. Then go up or down to transpose that cause or put down. Tell us tick into a scale. Remember all of this disappears shortly, won't change anything to the actual sound. If we right-click, we will also see an option where it says monitor codes, basically what that means. It will play the chord when moving the cause or select them, which is a nice feature. Next up is to enable slash codes for bass notes or extended chords for showing extension with four chairs or base year chords. And lastly, we can totally change how the codes are displayed. Boat going to preferences and change the code symbols however you like them to show all pass. 10. Key Track & Pitch Grid: Today we'll be talking about the pitch squared and the key track. As from the last video, we can click on this icon to bring up the key track or by the option menu here, just like the cold track, we can right-click to see suggested keys and hear different modes and can even open a scalar editor. Now over here we can turn on the pitch quit here. By default when turned on and notes will be snapped to the pitch squared by certain scale. And we can change the scale here, for example, these folk course here, a minor and not D minor. So there's, change it up. So when it's time we move the note around, deals die in k with a scale. Also, you may notice that certain keys on the left here after pits quit will be cradle. That's because them keys are not enact certain scale, but we can also change the settings here. We can turn the keys in their path. They won't snap to this certain scale and we can move that plebs anywhere we like and the net snap, we are simply moving semitones. Here. We've got different view modes. And now even with Snap mode on, we can hold all which will place and no NUM we'd like. Even with Snap mode on, with the main toast selected, we can double-click and nose and your move at and snapped up club to close this key in that scale and change the offset to 0, which makes sure all the plebs or less selected plebs up pits correctly. Lastly, let's use the snap to court and the pitch macro. And it will snap to the closest keys within the chord track. 12. Quantize Time Macro And the Time Grid: Now we'll be focusing on the timing quid and the quantized time macro. Instead of holding left-click on the time grid, we can then click and then choose the values we want to use. Note Levelling Macro and The main Tool: There is a new feature in Melodyne five, which is note that following macro and the Ohmae quiet notes louder. Or we can make the loud notes quieter or use both, which kinda like a compressing the y. So if there's a problem with the holes of the old year and for whatever reason you don't want to use uncompressed though, we can just use the note left wing macro and we can use a leveling macro here. We wanted the Edit menu under the macros. Okay, now I want to talk about the main tours is useful, acts like a smart tool as you move the mouse over some things on different clubs, use different functions and you get most of the stuff done with this toy alone or ID FO the main tool should already be on when opening up a new instance of melodyne holds a selected by this icon or you can press F1. Well, we simply right-clicking the note editor and select what toy you look to use. We can just click and press loves opened down to move the pitch. All flip-flops. We can turn on Show plop info on to Options, minutes, having me pull up the blobs as more pitch squid shows up here. And if we zoom in on the plops and move our mouse on them, line should appear telling you you can move or short-term them, or making lungs. And men, these lines also appear but can also go to top up the blob if your main tool selected. And instead of going to Note Set right tool, we can just double-click and the offset, write the null. And if a tip is that if we want to undo all of the changes we have made, we have to select plops, we want o, select them all by pressing down control or command. And I go to the Edit here, then we still rational and until all changes or we can only undo certain tests, like only undo the time and so on. 14. Pitch Tool, Pitch Modulation Tool, Pitch Drift tool: Narrow used to pitch tool bar here or pressing F2. And there are sub tools for most of these tools here, and we can cycle between them.
