Learn Adobe Premiere Pro In 1 Hour

1. Introduction: Hi Rohingya and thank you for choosing the Learn Premiere Pro Sisi 2017 in one hour course . I'm currently working as a visual effects artist and editor for an international purse production company based here in Cape Town, South Africa, where mostly do editing in VFX work on commercials. In this one hour course, you will learn all the basics to edit your own videos using Premiere Pro, which is currently seen as the industry standard when it comes to editing software, whether you are editing videos for online platforms such as YouTube or Facebook editing in short homes or commercials, or even working on bigger projects such as feature forms. If you have any questions tearing off to the school's piece, feel free to send me a message. And I'll do my best to answer those questions for you. Good luck and hope you find the scores informative. I'll see you in the first listen 2. The Interface: So in this first video, I'm just gonna concentrate on the layout or the interface inside of Premiere Pro And for the Siri's, I'm gonna be using Premiere Pro 2000 and 17. But you should be able to follow along if using previous or other versions very similar. Some of the things might be slightly different, but you should be able to follow along. So first time when you open up, Premier, you're going to start with an interface that looks something like this, and I'm gonna show you guys are too. Just customize this. I like to just remove some of the panels and just to make it a little bit simpler, a little bit more cleaner. So first of all, go to window right at the top, go to work, spaces, and then make sure that you on the editing workspace it's just going to remove this battle on the side. And then I'm gonna show you how to customise it even a little bit further. So you've got these panels open, and yet the bottom on the left inside you've got all these tabs like project media bras, etcetera. And what I like to do is I like to take this project we know, So just click and drag on it and then drag it right to the side of your monitor and you'll see that it's going to snap this project panel right to the side and then you can resize it . So I'm gonna resize that, make it smaller, something like this, and then I'm gonna take my effects panel. So if you look at the bottom, you'll see effects. You click on this, I'm going to click and drag this to the bottom off my project. We know. So it's kind of sitting at the bottom. I'm gonna resize it. So it's slightly smaller. And then media browser libraries, info markers in history. I'm going to remove these. So I'm going to right click on media browser, click on close panel, do the same with libraries info. Also close Marcus clothes, street clothes. All right, so now you've got your project section or your project penalty on the side. You've got your source window. You've got your program. We know your timeline of your sequence and you've got your tools and you've got your effective bottom Now, right at the top. You've got this assembly editing color effects. This is basically just a workspace short cut. And I'm gonna close that as well because it's just taking up some extra space off screen. So I'm gonna write Tiki on the side and it was gonna select clothes panel. All right, so that's gone. So let's quickly go through all these panels and I'll tell you what they do. So let's start with the project panel. So this is basically we're gonna have or your media or your video clips, your music, your sound effects, your photos, etcetera. That will be in this panel. And then you've got your source window. So your source we knows. Basically, if you open up a clip from the project window, it's going to appear in the source. We know, and this is we're gonna preview it basically before you take it into your head. It and this is where you gonna set. You're in and out point, and then you gonna drag it into your sequence. So it's basically like a preview window before you actually start editing on or using that clip in your edit next to have your program window, and this will show the final output from your sequence. So if you're working or as you're working on your edit, you will see the video inside your program window. Right. Then you put your timeline or your sequence, and this is where you're gonna be able to do your everything. You're gonna be cutting your video clips, taking Advair clips at your music, all the data you'll see when we start doing the first edit that those clips will appear even this section at the bottom. And then you've got your tools. So we're gonna go through these tools later. But this is your select and your razor to etcetera and in the future, effected at the bottom. So this is like your audio effects in your video effect, and you also find your transitions, your video transitions and your audio transitions here. And that's basically all the panels that we're gonna be using. Also, you on this side, you've got your audio preview. This is where you're gonna be seeing the audio levels off your video. So that's basically the layout that we're gonna be using throughout this series. Make sure you set it up something like this, and they'll see you guys in the next video 3. Importing Assets: hi and welcome back to learn Premiere Pro Sisi 2017 in one hour. So in this video, I'm going to show you guys how to import your media or your assets into your project that you're gonna be working with. The assets will include things like your video clips, your music files, your sound effects photos, etcetera. So there are a couple of ways to import your clips. You can either double click in this project section, and it's gonna open up your finder or your file Explorer and you can go to your files, select them, could go on import minute, will import those files. But I'm gonna show you a much easier or a quick A way to get your media inside of premiere . So I'm gonna delete thes. I'm just gonna highlight them, like dragging around them, and then I'm gonna press delete on the keyboard, and then I'm gonna open up my finder or you open up your explorer. If you on Windows and then I'm gonna go to my video folder. This is we have got my video clips and I'm gonna select all of them, and I'm going to simply drag and drop them into the project panel. A metal based import, all those files into the section, so you could do the same with photos. So I've got three photos here. I'm going to highlight them, drag and drop them. They will appear insight, the project section and same with music or any audio files. I'm gonna drag and drop them, and then they gonna appear here as well. So another thing that you can do is I'm gonna delete all of these ones, and I'm going to right click, and I'm going to click on new Been now a business, basically a folder. So I'm gonna call this folder video clips, and I'm gonna go back to my finder, go to my videos, selected my video clips, and I'm going to drag them into that video clips folder and automatically placed him inside that Full this and I can go minimize or expand that folder to view your video clips. Really cool. And you can obviously do the same for your son effects, etcetera. So I'm going to right click, and I'm gonna go new Ben, and I'm gonna call this one music. Go back to my finder, go to my music folder and I'm going to select the music False that I want to import, drag and drop them into the music folder. And it's gonna do that. You could also drag and drop inside of premiere. So if I want to for some reason put these video clips inside my music folder, I can just highlight them all drag and drop them into music, and they're going to jump into that folder. So I'm gonna just drag them back into video clips and then I'm gonna show you another trick that you can do. I'm gonna delete all of these again, and I'm gonna go to my finder. And there have been a media folder where I've got all my music photos and video sub folders with the files. Eso simply I'm gonna take my media folder, which is the main folder. I'm gonna drag this media folder into my project window and it's gonna create that media folder. If I expand this, you'll see music, photos, videos and if I expand this, you'll see that it's got all the files automatically underneath it. So that's a really easy and quick way to import all your media. If you've got everything set up in folders already on your hard drive. Just dragging the main folder and it's gonna create it like this. Now let's say I don't want this media folder at the top. I can just drag these folders like the video folder. Just drag it to the bottom and it's gonna go above on the same level as the media folder. Gonna do the same with photos. Same with music. And now I can delete this media folder, right? And I've got music, virtual photos, and you've got your video bent. So always try to keep your project panel really need. Try and file your things under bends that will just make your editing process a lot easier . If you're looking for a specific clip or if you're looking for a music file, it's gonna make your life a lot easier. You can also go in here, and you can you rename the files. So let's say if you want to call this one clip one, you just click once on it, and then you can just rename it as simple as that. It's called This one clips Europe one. Let's call this one clip zero to, and it's not going to rename your actual file on the hard drive. That's still gonna stay the original file. But indeed, it's gonna have a new fault if you want to add a description. Also, if we expand this a bit, this will give you some information about that media file. So and the videos that will give you things like the frame, right, like these ones are all shot at 30 frames per second. And it also give you some information about your audio files. So that's basically our to import your media into Premiere Pro. Remember to save your project. So if you want to save, just go to file and then save and yeah, I'll see you guys in next video. 4. Creating Sequences: hi and welcome back to learn Premiere Pro Sisi 2017 in one hour. And in this video, I'm going to show you guys how to create your first edit or your first sequence inside of Premiere Pro. So basically, you're sequence is like your edit, and there are also a couple of ways to create a new sequence. The slow and difficult way is to right leg in your project window. Go to new item and then select sequence. Now, if you do it this way, you need to know that sequence sittings, or you need to know what frame rate and things like that you're gonna work on. So let's say, for instance, you know that you shot it on a DSLR I'm gonna go to Digital is a Loria and then I'm gonna go to HD 10 80 p. And let's say you shot this on 30 frames a second. I'm going to click on that one click on OK, and it's going to create a new sequence with those settings that you just selected. So this is the kind are difficult way or the slow way of doing it. I'm gonna delete the sequence and I'm gonna show you guys a very easy and quick way to do this. So I was gonna highlight the sequence one and delete it righteous by pressing delete on the keyboard. So easy way I'm gonna take my first clip. So these are all shot at 30 frames a second. Gonna take this clip. I'm going to drag it into this empty space at the bottom release, and it's gonna automatically create a new sequence using the sittings from that clip 01 So because this couple shot at 30 frames a second, it's gonna create the sequence with a frame right off 30 frames a second. And you can see it's got a little bit of a different icon next to it. That's how I know that's a sequence. And it's gonna take the name off that clip that you dragged into it so I can go in and you can rename this once I'm gonna kick and I'm gonna call this idiot space one. All right. Also, you don't want to keep your sequences inside of your video folders. I'm going to drag it out, and then I'm going to create a new been or a new folder. So rightly New Bern and I'm gonna call this. It's so this where will keep all my edits and I'm gonna take this sequence or this edit. Drag it into the it's folder, Right they go, There's your first sequence. So now if we go into the sequence at the bottom, you can see it's got that clip that you dragged into it automatically at the beginning off that sequence, and you don't really have to start with that when you can. Now go it. And you can highlight this clip here in the sequence, and he can just delete it by pressing delete on your keyboard so it will keep the settings . And now you can basically start adding clips to the sequence just my drag name in year. And, yeah, everything will be working fine. So if you want to play back, you can just drag this slider or this played around to view your your sequence. And if you want to play back just Chris face on the keyboard, it's gonna play it back, and we can just press space again to stop it. So we're gonna go through all that in a later video for this video. I just want to focus on our to create a new sequence. So I'm gonna delete these clips again and which can introduce you can now go ahead and you can duplicate this it. So let's say you want to have multiple. It's Are you working on different versions off your that you want to have different sequence versions? So let's say I'm gonna add have one to the sequence and maybe clipped two to the back of it . So now we want to duplicate the sequence. Very simply, I'm going to right click on it it one year under my idiots and I'm going to click on Duplicate. It's going to create a copy and are Canosa rename this one. So I'm gonna kick on it and I'm gonna call this one too like that. And now if I double click on this attitude to open it, it's gonna open up a new terror. Be at the bottom. As you can see, we've got it one, too. So now on to Aiken, delete these clips so I can modify it. Let's bring in another clip and maybe another clip like that. There may be 1/3 1 something like that. Okay, so now we're working on it, too. And I can easily switch back to edit one just by clicking on this one, Deb. And now I can work on it at one. And if I want to go back to a two, I can just click on it to right here. So it really easy. You can also click on this little extra close this tab. It's not gonna delete that edit that's going to stay year under your Benz. And then you just working on your edit one again. So let's say we want to work on it a two again. I'm gonna double click out in a two. It's gonna bring in that tab, begin and then it can go in and I can close. It won again. So now it's only showing it to in this tab view. So it's always a good idea to create a been called either edits or sequences and try and keep all your It's underneath that another reason why you will duplicate it is just for version ing. So let's say you working on it one, um, and you doing some changes and now you want to kind of save that as a good one. Anyone creating new sequence from that. Then you'll duplicated, called the new 12 and then you start working on it to And then let's say at a later stage you want to create a new edit from that duplicated to rename that three and carry on working with that just so that you can go back to, Let's say you wanna go back to it a to at a later stage, then you've got that option. So that's how easy it is to create sequences or it's inside of Premiere Pro. Also, you goes in the next video. 5. Basic Editing: hi and welcome back to learn Premiere Pro Sisi 2017 in one hour. And in this video I'm going to show you guys some basic editing techniques and just some shortcuts. That's also really Andy to know. So I'm gonna work on my idiot one. So I've got it one opening at the bottom. As you can see, I also deleted any other sequences that I had under my bed. It's been so really easy to bring in a clip. You can just drag into your sequence and it's gonna bring in that whole clip from the beginning, right to the end, into your sequence, and you can click and drag to move it around. You can click this play it this line. That's basically the area that it's showing on your preview. She's showing you that that frame. Basically, if you wanna play back, you just press space bar on the keyboard. It's gonna play back your video, and if you want to stop it, just press space again, all right. You can also just snapped that the beginning, So that's basically the beginning off your video. A city can just click and drag to move it around. Really simple. If I bring in a second clip, you can just click and drag, bring it in and it's gonna bring in that whole clip number two again. And by sleek and also click and drag this one around. He also see that it will snap to other clips. So if I bring clip to closer to clip one, it's gonna snap to clip one. And now, if I play this, it will go from Clip one, and it will cut over to clip number two. All right, let's bring in another clip so I can bring this one in right at the back, and we're gonna snap it to the end off, too. So then I got a new cat here, and it's gonna go over to that club. All right, So let's say you only want to bring in a section off one of these clips, so I'm gonna delete all these from my sequence, and I'm gonna double click on clip one. If I double click on it, that's gonna bring it up in the source window. Me just resize is so lightly like this. So this is my source window or my preview window Summerlee previewing the clip from my project section. And then it's going a little sequence here that you can scrub through. You can also click on Play Oprah Spaceport to Playback, and it's going to show you like a preview off that clip. Now let's say you want to start your video. You don't want to import this old video or this whole clip into your secret. You're gonna take a section. So let's say I want to start right here with the camera kind of pans down on the start right there. Then you can either use these little icons at the bottom, Bach in and Mark out. Or a really easy way is just to press I on the keyboard I for in, and it's going to set an in point and then I'm gonna scrub further down. So let's say you want in the clip right about here. You can either prisoners out or mark out icon. We can press O on the keyboard over out, and you'll see it will sit out point. So now it's only gonna import that section of the video and really simply you can just click on the video you're in the preview click and drag it into your sequence, and it's only going to bring in that section off the video Now. The beginning off this clip in the ending off the script is story here. It's not deleted. If I zoom in yet the bottom. This is the zoom's use, the slightest zoom in and out. I can actually click and drag on the side off this clip, and I can extend it back to the full video clip just like that. All right, as you can see as well, we've got two layers year in the sequence. The top one is the video and the bottom. Honest the audio. As you can see, it's actually it's got a line in the middle years so you can have multiple video clips and you can have multiple audio clips, and you can also see that they link together. So if I click and drag, they move together. What you can do is you can right click on this clip and you can go to a new link, and that will basically unlinked your video from your audio. So now I can go and I can move my video independently from the audio and I can do the same with the audio. I can also dio I can delete my audio so I can select the audio and just press delete on the keyboard That will only keep the video. So let's say you don't want to use the audio from the clip. You can obviously just remove it. Another thing that you can do. I'm gonna delete this clip again from the sequence I'm gonna double click on Clip one again . It's still giving me that in and out. It actually remembered that I put it in and out for this clip in this area. And then what you can do is you put these two, I conceive, got a little form strip, and then you've got the audio away form. So let's say I only want to bring in the video from this clip. I can click on this little form strip click and drag that onto my sequence, and it's only going to bring in the video. It's only one of bringing the audio I can do. Click and drag from the audio. Just drag that in, and it's only gonna bring in the audio for that clip on obviously everyone of bringing both of them. I just click on the little picture and just click and drag it in. That will drag in both the video and the audio. Or I'm gonna delete this from a sequence again, and I'm gonna bring in clip number two the whole clip into my sequence. Just like that, I'm gonna show you guys how to do some editing right inside off the sequence. So let's say you want to put a cut or you want to cut through this video and audio somewhere, aren't you? You can simply click on this, raise a tool, and if you put into it, you'll see it will create like a line. And it was a snap to the plate. So let's say when a carrot day and just click once. And then I'm going to click on the selection tool again and you'll see now you've got two clips, so it's basically just cutting that clip right? The eminent will carry on on the side. So now I can go in and I can delete this clip from the sequence and it's got this clippers Well, so I'm gonna go back to the razor to I'm gonna cut it right. They're gonna go back to my selection to, and I've got two clips. So it's basically just cutting that clip in off. She can go in and you can delete this side of the clip and then you can go ahead and you can extend it again if you want to get that section off the video back. So it's never really deleting any of your video clips, is just kind of cutting it and cropping it down so you can always go back and extended again to get to that section off the video, right? A very useful shortcut that I use all the time is Command K. I think on the PC it's control K. So basically, if you select any clip like this, I lighted. And wherever your plate is new press command K or control K, it automatically cut through that area safe. I've got this clip selected, of course, played right there. Come on, K. It's going to slice through it. Let's do it here. I'm gonna slick this clip to Mont K, and it's going to slice, Really? So that's just a really quick way off, creating lots off forced cuts just like that. And then you can go in and you can move some of these around it can click and drag. We can just simply highlight and delete them. We can rearrange them. You can move with this one behind. This one can select two clips at a time. It can drag them around a little, basically, just speed up your editing when using shortcuts. Okay, I'm gonna delete all these clips from the sequence again. Okay, so now I'm gonna bring in a new video clip and the stuff I'm going to double click on it. So I see it in the preview. Gonna scrub through this, and I'm only gonna select a section off this video clips. I wanted to start right about there. I'm gonna press I on the keyboard to sit my in point. And when a script further and right, about year when I set my outpoints, I'm gonna pris o on the keyboard to sit that out point. And then I want to drag in both the video and the audio. So I'm going to click and drag from the picture, and I'm gonna drag that to the beginning off my sequence. So now it's just bring in that section. I can play it back, shows that section of the video. And let's say, for instance, you want to duplicate this video on your sequence. For some reason, you wanted to be at the back somewhere as well. You can, Olden Ault, and in just click and drag and it's gonna create a backup copy or like a duplicate off that clip. So let me show you if I zoom out your and I'm gonna bring in a couple of clips and bring in that clip, bring in that clip and this clip and infiltrate some cuts here. Gonna I like that going, Chris. Come on, Kay, create another cut day credit. Delicate Day in America today. Now, let's the times you want to you busy editing and you want to kind of make a backup off this edit. You don't really want to create a new sequence. You just want to do some some editing and do some tastes. But you want to keep a backup copy off this specific in it really simple way to do this I'm just gonna zoom out slightly is to highlight all these clips and then holding alternate keyboard, click and drag, and it's gonna create a duplicate er of back up off that it. Now I can go in and you can do some changes on this one. Maybe you want to remove those two clips, maybe moved these two closer together like that. Let's say you want to remove this one. It's well, reverse together. And then if you're eight, it doesn't work out too well. It can always just go ahead and delete all these clips and you can move these runs back to the front. So that's just the easy way to create a backup off a certain section off your head. It okay, I'm going to lead all these clips from the sequence. Again. Let's bring in clip number one again into the sequence. But you can also do is you can do very basic copy and pasting, so I'm gonna highlight this clip one in my sequence and the middle. Copy a Turk, another go to edit and copy, or you can use the short cut. So on a Mac, it will be Kamande C. And on a piece it will be controlled. See, And then I just move the plate to wear, want to paste it, and then I can go to it and based, right? So it's gonna basically just create a copy there, you know, sees the shortcut. So I'm gonna just highlight this press command, see on the keyboard and then go somewhere in the timeline and Priscah Mont V to paste right is easy is that if you have multiple clips, let's bring in clip number two. You can highlight both of these clips. Come on, see, to copy some of the plate and command, be to place that. That's just an easy way to copy and paste ups. Okay, we can also bring in music the same way as we bring in video clips. So I've got my music under my music. Ben and I can simply just drag and drop some of these onto my sequence, and you'll see it's gonna create this green clip, which means it's audio only on. You can drag that to the top because there's no video attached to that audio. You could also double click on the audio file year to bring it up in the preview window, and then you can preview it, and it could also sitting in and out. So let's say you want to only bring in a section off this music clip. I can sit in point there by pressing I and it may be set the outpoint year by pressing O on the keyboard. Dragged that in and it's only gonna bring in that section off the music track again. If I delete this one the beginning and the end of this music track is still there, I can just trim it or expand it like that and everything is still there, right? I'm gonna delete that also from the sequence. And that's how to do some basic editing inside of Premiere Pro. Also you guys in the next video. 6. Working With Multiple Layers of Video: Hi and welcome back to learn Premiere Pro Sisi 2017 in one hour. And in this tutorial, I'm going to show you guys how to work with multiple layers off video in your sequence. So, basically, if I bring in a video to my secrets, I was gonna drag this one in year. Ondas You can see I've got V one, V two and V three. So these are separate or different layers that you can use. You've got the same with your audios. They've got audio. 1234 You can also add more layers if you want to, but by default you get thes three video layers as you could work with. So if I bring in another clip and put it next to my other clip and I'm going to remove the audio from the second clips, I'm going to right click, We'll go unlinked and I'm gonna delete the audience. I'm gonna I like the audio press delete on the keyboard, and I can place this video clip on top off my other video clip. Now, if I play this back, you'll see the top one. You're not gonna see the bottom one but you're going to hear the audio from the first video clip. All right, so if I move it slightly this way, you'll see that yet the beginning you'll see the bottom video clipping. If I scrub through, that will cut to this little clip from the top, so as you see from the top down and you see the video clip on top and not the water one. So let's say I select my top video clip. I got to effect controls and I said, the opacity for the top video to around 50%. I just think they and set up to 50%. You'll see that you can see through the top video, and you can see the bottom video underneath that. But don't worry, I will have a separate video on effect Controls. So I'm gonna delete that as one explain to you guys that both of those video clips are still in the sequence. He just looking from the top down, seizing the top one first and in the one below that. Secondly, All right, so let's bring in another clip on, and I'm gonna remove the audio again from this one. Adam, in a place this one on video track number two, and I'm gonna bring in another clip. Remove the audio from this one, and I'm gonna sit this clip on the third video track. Now, if I play this back, you'll see the top video clip. And if I move this out, you'll see the second video. And if I move this out, you'll see the one that's on the first via track. So that's basically just using multiple video layers and which can also do is you could bring in some photos. So I'm gonna drag in photo number one, and I'm gonna place it on video track number two. And as you can see you, that photo is actually slightly smaller than our video resolution. So you can see the video actually playing behind that photo and what I can do us. I can click on this photo and I can go to effect controls you at the top, like in scale, that fighter upward down. I'll have a separate video on only this effect control section, so don't worry too much about that silver play through this. Now you'll see that the video clip will be playing and then it's gonna cut to that photo that's basically sitting on top of that video that's still playing the audio from that clip , and then it's gonna go back to that clip. So this photos basically just sitting on top off our video layer. So this is basically RT. Use separate video layers or multiple video layers inside of Premiere. Also you guys in the next video. 7. Effect Controls: hi and welcome back to learn Premiere Pro Sisi 2017 in one hour. And in this tutorial, I'm going to focus on effect controls. It's basically a tab, you at the top and I'll show you guys how to use that. So let's bring in some clips into our sequence, so I'm just gonna drag some random clips into the sequence. Like so. Then, if we scrub through year, well, obviously, seek the first club the second cup on the third lap. So let's go to the first clip and I'm going to just click on. This club, wants to highlight it. And then, with that clip highlighted, I'm gonna click on Effect Controls right at the top, and then it's gonna give me the video effects and the audio effects for the highlighted clip. Now you can change things like positions, scale irritation, a pass ITI and also ordinary fix. Like the volume. All right, so I'm gonna go through some of the basics here. If we can drag the position, it's gonna change the position off That video clip in the frame says you can see there has just got a moving around and to reset the parameters. I'm gonna click on this icon inside that's going to reset it back to default. Next this scale, seeking either scale it down or you can scale it up Just if you want to have. If you want to reframe a shot basically so you can kind of scale it up and then you can also reposition with these parameters where I'm just going to reset both of those the position and the scale getting close to do rotation. So if you want, for some reason, have a video like 90 degrees can change it year scale. Even so, it's kind of filling the frame. You just play around with us and do something interesting stuff, all right. You can also change the opacity. So this is a key frame, and I'm going to click on this stopwatch to remove the key frame because I don't want to set the opacity straight through this clip. So I consider the rapacity of the script down to 50% and you see it actually goes darker, but it's actually just changing the capacity to 50% so I could also do the same on your audio. I can change some things. You're like the level of the loudness. So I'm gonna click on the stopwatch to remove the key frame, and then you can change this. Basically, to set it to 66 is the maximum or minus. You can go all the way down to, like, minus 287 which is really, really low. So just just if you want to change the volume off your audio clips, I'm gonna sit that back to zero and let me show you. If I just said this a pastie back to 100 and I'm gonna move this video clip on top off this video clip so I'm gonna festival delete the audio. So I'm gonna write like, unlinked, and I'm going to remove the audio from the second clip, and I'm gonna bring it onto this video layer number two. So obviously we're seeing this video inside this preview. Now I have got this video selected and I go to effect controls which is currently open. And then I said the scale down to, let's say, 50%. You can see we've got this video and it's safe to 50% scale, and then we've got the video at the back, The bottom one that we can actually see installed 200% scale. It's no. I can click on the top one, and I could also move it around. You can see that it's actually overlaying on top off that other video clip. So it's filling the frame, and now that photo is just filling the frame perfectly. Can also rotate photo. I can also change the position off this photo and obviously the scale, as I showed you right. We can also place this photo on top of our video. So if we play through this, you'll see that that photo will just appear on top off that video. And we can still go into this photo. We can move it around. We can scale it down if you want to. And that's just a simple way off. Just changing the parameters off that selected club. All right, so that is effect controls inside of Premiere. I'll see you guys in the next video. 8. Transitions: hi and welcome back to learn Premiere Pro Sisi 2017 in one hour. And in this video, I'm going to show you guys how to use transitions on your video clips and also in your or your cups. So I'm gonna bring in clip number one, and I'm gonna bring in clip number two, something like that. I'm gonna trim them down slightly. And the reason I'm trimming them down is if we want to do a transition like a fade in transition from one clip to the other, you need some extra frames at the back and at the front, off those two clips so that it can actually fade into the other video. So I'm going to snap them together. And then, if you wanna add a very basic fade transition between these clips, I can right click in the center of these clips and in a cancel EQT apply default transitions. And that's basically gonna add a transition to the video and the audio. As you can see you, we've got a cross dissolve on the video layer and we've got a dissolve on the It's called Constant power on the audio as well. It's not. If I scrub through year, you'll see that it's actually gonna fade slowly into that video clip, and it's gonna do the same with the audio. It's gonna fade from the one audio track into the other one. So I played through this. You'll see you'll get that smooth transition animation. So now if you want to delete, let's say we want only delete the transition on the audio. I can click on this brown box and just press delete on the keyboard. It's only gonna delete the transition on the audio, so if I play this back, it will still have the video transition. And if you want to delete the transition from the video, I can do the same. Just click on that, delete it, and thats gonna just be a normal cut again. All right, so there are multiple or different kinds off transitions that you can use if you go to your effects. Yet, the bottom is gonna move this up slightly. You'll see that you have audio transitions and also video transitions, right? So let's expand video transitions, and you get all these different folders like three D motion, dissolve iris, etcetera so they tell you when Addis Slide Transition I'm gonna expand, slide and then you've got these different options, like ST the Split Bush slide and split. So let's try this center splits. I'm going to click on this and dragged onto these two or this cat. Yes, if you could see if I drag over it can either attitude the end off one or over both clip one and two or at the beginning of Clip number two, So I'm gonna set it over. Both kept one and two so right in the center and I'm going to release it and it's gonna add that transition so they can see if I play through this. It's got that saint is split transition. All right, I'm gonna delete their transition, going to click on this box and delete it. And let's try this push transition. So I'm going to click and drag it onto the center of this thes two video clips, and it's play through that. Okay, so that's like a normal push to decide. And if you want to go into the property's off this transition, you can click on this box to highlight it, and then you're under effect. controls. You can see a with the properties off their transition so you can actually change things like the border. Let's go to the center. You can add a border as you can see they. If I make this a little bit thicker, let's say like 20. It's actually adding like a black border. You can change the color of the border. It's my could read now. If I play through this, you'll see that great border. You can also change the duration, so the start and the finish you can play with that. It would just add, like, interesting some effects. They and these the duration Right at the top sits one second or 25 frames. So I'm gonna strangers to 10 frames and enough with playback. You'll see that it's gonna be a lot faster because it's only doing it over 10 frames. It goes a change the duration by just clicking on this transition and you'll see there's a little change. The mouse pointed to this icon. You can click and drag it, and that will basically just extend the time or the duration off that transition. Okay, so let's delete this transition. Onda, Let's go to three D motion. So let's try this cube, Spence. I'm gonna click and drag it over this middle section. And if you play through this, you get like, a kind of three d effect, like a cube just kind of rotating around it. All right, let's look at the old year transition. So I'm gonna go into the order transitions folder We've got Cross Fade and you've got these ones so constant power, constant gain, an exponential fight. Now, Usually I just use this constant power to just drag this over the audio cut, and it'll basically just add an audio fade from the one to the other. Settle. Basically, just make the audio transition really smooth. So if you have a harsh audio cut, just use that to smooth it out going into the next clip. So as you can see, it's not doing it with video. The video is just a normal cut, but the order will be nice and smooth. Okay, let's say you want to add a video transition at the end off one of your video clips. You can do that by just right leaking on the end off that video clip and click on apply default transition and you'll see it will again add a transition to both the video and the audio. So I just want to do a fade out on the video. I don't want to fade out on the audio, so I'm going to click on this constant power. Delete it. And now if I play back, you'll see that video will just fade out. Can do the same at the beginning of your video. So let's get to the start. Zoom in you and I'm going to right click on the beginning and could can apply default incisions. Delete the audio, and if I play this back will see that it's kind of fade in. All right, so that's how easy it is to use transitions both on video and audio in Premier. Also, you guys in the next video 9. Basic Keyframes: hi and welcome back to learn Premiere Pro Sisi 2017 in one hour. And in this tutorial I'm going to show you guys how to create basic key frames. Also key frames on your video and also key frames on your audio. So let's start with video in a drag in Clip one into my sequence on you can add key frames basically to any parameter that you can change. So with this clip selected clip one selected, I'm going to go into my effect, controls you at the top, and then you'll see all these little stopwatches next to most of these almost all of these parameters. And that means that you can add a key frame to that parameter. So let me show you. Let's say we want to scale this video and we want to scale it. Over time, I'm going to go to the area where I want to start the transitional, the actual animation and when clicked, the stopwatch next to scale and it'll basically create a key frame for scale 100 and its move. The played a little bit further, and I'm going to change the scale to 200 and it's gonna automatically create a second key frame. You can see there's a key frame day and is a key friend. They now, if I play this back, you'll see that the video will increase from 100 to 200. If I screw up through this, you can see if you look at this number year by scale, you'll see that it's gonna go up from 100 to 200 overtime. Right? So I'm gonna go in and I'm gonna delete these key friends so you can just highlight them year and press delete and to basically just go back to 100. So we can also add key frames to things like rotation. So I'm going to click on the stopwatch next to scale because we don't want to animate that anymore. We don't want to add any more key friends to that. So let's go to rotation. And right at the beginning, I'm going to set a key frame on rotation on zero, and I'm gonna go slightly further and I'm gonna change this to its do it like a 90 degree angle and I'll for go back to the beginning and I play this back you'll see that's gonna increase from 0 to 90 over time. I want to see these. The two key frames. So the first key, famous right at the beginning. And the second key friend. He's right about there. And you can also go in, and you can click and drag these key frames to change the duration basically between or the time between those two key frames. So now if I play this back, you'll see that that animation will be a lot slow because we increase the distance between the two key frames. So I'm gonna show you how to add some audio level key frames tonight. And another way to add a key frame is to click on this little dot Yeah, it's gonna add a key frame and then I'm gonna go slightly further and I'm going to sit the volume to, let's say, five disa bills and you'll see that it's actually gonna create a key frame year in our sequence. So now you can see it's gonna go from zero. And if I scrub through this, if you look at this number next to the order level, you can see that it's gonna go from zero up to five. Now, we can create another audio level. Somewhere around year, I'm going to go back to zero. So I'm just gonna type in zero day and it's gonna create another key frame right there. So that's gonna go from 0 to 5 and then back to zero. You can also go in, and you can change these key friends manually. Years, he can just click and drag in the timeline or in your sequence to change their value and also the position off these key frames. So this is really nice. If you want to change the volume over time, you want to make it go louder or softer at a specific time. In your video you can just click these key frames and adjust him like that. If you want to create a new key frame in your sequence right here, you can hold in command on your keyboard and you'll see that your mouse point will change to White and it's got a little plus next to it. So now I can just click and I can create new key frames. And if I release command, I can now go and just these key friends, right? So another thing that we can do, I'm gonna bring in a photo. So it's gonna bring in photo, too, and I'm gonna place it over this video. So now if we play this back, you'll see it's basically just gonna cut straight to that photo. And first of all, I want to scale it up. So it's filling the area of the screen. So I'm gonna kick on a photo and then under effect controls I was going to scale it up. So it is just feeling that section of the screen. And now I want to basically fade in the opacity off this photo to so we can easily do that by using key frames on the opacity parameter. So I'm going to select my photo, and I'm gonna go to the first frame off my photos. I'm going to use the arrow keys on the keyboard to go to the first frame of that photo and then under opacity on that photo, I'm gonna change the opacity to zero. You can see it's completely transparent now, and I'm gonna go slightly forward with a plate, and then I'm gonna change the opacity to 100. So now if we play this back from your you'll see that the best you will increase on the photo from 0 to 100. And that's basically transition that we just created. But we created it manually by using key frames under the effect controls. So that's how easy it is to use key frames inside of Premiere Pro. I'll see you guys in the next video 10. Titles and Lower Thirds: hi and welcome back to learn Premiere Pro Sisi 2017 in one hour. And in this tutorial, I'm going to show you guys how to create titles and lower thirds inside of premiere. So first of all, let's bring in a video clips. I'm gonna bring in clip number one and let's say we want to add a title Nice in the middle and its creative been first for our titles. So I'm gonna write, like, go to New Bern and we're gonna call this one titles. Okay, so we want to create our first title. So I'm gonna go to file new, and then I'm going to select legacy title, right. So it's gonna ask me to give it a name. I'm just gonna call it main title, and it's gonna ask you the width and the height in the time base it's I'm gonna leave it all by default. I'm gonna leave a default picking, okay? And it's gonna give you this window we can design. Your title was going expand it or make it slightly bigger and basically got all these text tools. So I'm going to click on the tea, and then it's gonna Click someone the video, and you can now create your title. So I'm going to call this my movie, and you can obviously click on the selection tool and you can click and drag to move the title around. And you can go to this side and can change the font. So I'm going to click on this Drop down and you can change the font to anything you like. If you go down here, I can either just scroll on the side and choose a desire it front. And you can also set the size so I can change this size year, you can change the color. Okay, maybe let's change it. Is something a little bit brighter, maybe yellow and yeah, it scared up. So you're on the side. You can align it so you can click on center, um, horizontally and center vertically that was sent to your title nicely. And then basically, once you've done with your title, you can just close this window and you'll see that you have a main title year in your project window, and I can drag this and just file it under my titles. All right, so let's say we want to bring it into our video. Aiken, just use it as a normal video clip. I can click and drag, bring it onto the timeline, and there you have your title so you can obviously extend it. So it's across the whole video where you can just make it starts at the beginning of your videos. If you play that back, it will be there and then it will disappear. So let's say you wanted to fade in and fade out, so it's exactly the same as using transitions on a video clip. So I'm going to right click on the start off the title and I'm gonna choose apply default concision, and I'm going to do the same at the end. So I'm gonna rightly they at the end of that clip applied default transition. And if I play this back, you'll see that the title will fade in and fade out again. All right, let's say when I add another title, maybe underneath it Now, I can either go into this main title. You can double click your or double trickier to edit it on, and then you can add some more text right here inside of this title. Um, write something. Yeah, and I was gonna select this line, and I'm gonna make it smaller and maybe just center it vertically, and then you can use the arrow keys to move it up. And that would basically just it it that title say, if you play this back, it will have a lot the transitions that you add it on that title on that as well, because it's all in the same title. And what you can do is, well, you can Let's go into this main title. I'm going to remove this sentence from you, and then I'm going to create a new title for that secondary line. So I'm gonna go to titles, go file new, and then I'm gonna click on legacy title. Uh, just call it line, and then I'm gonna type something at the bottom, right, and I'm gonna position it. Gate closes down, and I we've got two titles and I can bring in the sick and title, place it on top of my main title, and basically, now I've got that on a separate layer. Says you can see if you play this back. Those transitions to cross dissolves its not on that second layer. That's only on my main title, and there we can always add it on this one as well, just by right clicking and adding the photo decisions. No, I've got it on that as well. So the cool thing about doing it in separate titles you can now go ahead and you can click on your second title. Get terrific controls and you can position this one independently off your main title seek and may be moving to the bottom. But they anybody the same with your main title so I can click on Main title. Having taken position it as you like, could also go in and rotated, and you can also change the scale. And it was a change. The opacity. Another thing that you can do is let's delete that and let's create a new title. So I'm gonna select my titles. But again, click on file New Legacy title, and I was gonna call this lower third. All right, so let's say you want to add the name off someone that's in the video to the bottom off the video, anyone, and make it look quite nice, so I'm gonna click on the text to and I'm gonna type the name and a surname and maybe also the position off that or the title of that person that will be the title, something, something Something will be there And let's just move this down to the bottom and I'm gonna change the font. Maybe just do something nice and thin, Something like that. All right, let's change the color off this title to black, so I'm gonna highlight it. Go to color, change the color to black, and it's I wanna add a solid color behind this text. So I'm going to click on this rectangle to, and it's gonna draw out a rectangle like that. And when changing color off this Richter goes something like on the color. This changed to a gray color, and I would remove it now behind the text. But as you can see, if I move it over, it's actually in front of our text, so we want to move it backwards. So I'm going to right click on this rectangle, Go to arrange on going to say send to back that will say that all the way to the back to the bottom layer and I can see it's behind our text course, and I considered some way around here You can use your arrow keys to position of nicely, and it's a want to change the opacity off that box. You can do that as well. So if you have this box elected under a pass ity of changes down to 50% and I can kind of see through that box, you can see the video behind it. So when closes down and I'm gonna bring in my lower third on top of my video and you can see we've got our lower third right there and with that lower third selected, you can now go ahead and you can change the position. Something like that. And let's say you want that Lower Third, I need to appear during a specific section of your video. You can extend it. Ah, now I can also add in a transition infected beginning in the insert kind of fade in and fade out. So I'm going to right click on the start, go to apply default concision. I'm going to do the 70 back and offered greatest back. You'll see that it's gonna fade in. And if the end is just gonna fade out again so I can go in and you can also scale it if you want to make it slightly smaller on position it in the right. So let's say you want to put a logo off. Let's say the YouTube logo in the top left inside corner of your video eso download at this logo or this YouTube logo from Google. Very simple like that. And I want to put that over the video. So inside of Premiere, I'm going to create a new been. So I'm going to right Click New Bern and I'm gonna call this logo and then I'm gonna drag my YouTube logo into that Ben, and I'm simply going to drag this logo over my videos. I'm gonna put this on video track number three. I'm gonna expand it so it kinda covers the whole section off my edit. And as you can see, it's got the YouTube logo right in the center. So now I want to move it up and we're gonna make it slightly smaller. So I'm going to click on this PNG fall to highlight it, and then I'm gonna change the scale is gonna drag on this scale to make it smaller, And you can also use the position to a position that another easy way to move that around without using these numbers eased to simply click on motion. And then you can just click and drag inside this window to position it. So let's so when a position it right there something like that and enough play video, you've got your logo over the corner off your video, and that's how you can add logos to your videos using Premiere Pro. In this tutorial, I'm going to show you guys how to create a video inside off a video. So that's what I'm gonna bring a video clip into my sequence. So this is drag one onto our timeline on, um Then we're gonna bring in another video clip and added inside off this video. So let's say we maybe wanna add kept number two inside of this video, I'm going to simply drag this in and place it on video track number two. And then I want to delete the audio from clip number two. So I'm gonna right click on click to go toe on Link, and then I'm gonna delete the audio from the club. All right, so next I want to scale this clip two on a scale it down. So I'm going to select clip number two, and then I'm gonna go up to effect controls. And when changes scale to around 30% you can see it's scaled it down nice and small, and I'm going to click on motion to position it, so I wanna position it right here. in the corner, lower left corner, and now most people play this back. You've got this video playing insight off that bigger video, and that's how easy it is to create a video inside of a video in Premiere Pro. I will see you guys in the next tutorial. 13. Color Correcting and Color Grading: Hi and welcome back to learn Premiere Pro Sisi 2017 in one hour. And in this tutorial, I'm going to show you guys how to do some basic color correcting and cut a grading in Premiere Pro. So I'm gonna bring in this clip onto my timeline or into my sequence, and then we're gonna cut a great this clip. So now we're gonna go up to window workspaces, and currently we are in the everything works place, and we're gonna go into the color workspace surgically concolor year, and it's gonna bring up some extra tools here on the site. So now simply you can select your clip that you want to color. Great. So I'm gonna click on this clip to highlight it, and it's gonna activate all these controls. And now it's about your basic correction. You've got creative and some other things like curves, color wheels, Your second re in your Vignette year s. We're gonna start with basic correction. So if I click on basic correction, it's gonna drop down. It's gonna give me all these extra tools and I'm sure quickly run through this. Um, there's no right or wrong way to do color grading or color correcting, especially just what you want to get out of your picture so physical I'm gonna show you the temperature so you can either go cooler or warmer. So as you can see, it goes more orange or more into the blues. I'm set that back to around zero. You can also turned its OEM or towards green or purple, and we can sit this back to zero again and mature exposure. So that's basically just making it brighter or darker. And then you also have your contrast. You can just make it more contrast, e or less contrast, it can change the highlights and your shadow intensity. So if you bring up the shadows will actually just make the shadows of it brighter and he Kenbrell your highlights down. If you want to add more detail in the highlighted areas, and then you can change the intensity off the white level and also the black level, we can just change that independent the year on. It's going to creative. So this week and change things like faded form could make it look a little bit old. Something like that. You can also change the sharpness. Year off the video and vibrance is similar to saturation and also change the saturation year to add more intensity to the colors as you can see there and then you can go into your curves can add some adjustment curves. Yeah, this is just a different way to add more color or contrast to your image, and I'm going to skip color wheels and secondary for this. And if you feather it, it will just make that vignette nice and soft. So that's basically how you could do somebody see color correction on galley grading in premiere. I'm gonna go back to the editing workspace so under window workspaces and in editing. And what you can also do now is if you click on this clip that you've color graded on, go to effect controls, you'll see that it's added this dmitry color effect. If you scroll down, you can do all those corrections or changes parameters in your as well, so I can go in and I can change the temperature right here inside the effect controls on that club. And if you want to delete or remove this limit tree color effect, I could simply just click on it and I can eat delete on the keyboard, and it's gonna go back to default. Can also I'm gonna undo that on. You can also click on the FX next to Dmitry Color. That's just to enable it or disabled so that disabled and that's enabled. And that's just a quick way Teoh to see the difference between or what that effect is actually doing to that clip. And that's how you do Basic color grading and color correcting inside of Premiere Pro, I will see you guys in the next video 14. Sequence Versioning: Hi. I'm gonna drag in some clips here. And let's say when it kind of saved this archive this sequence and start working on a new version off the sequence. So I'm gonna expand my edits button. And I've got a number one year that I'm currently working on and what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna great another been inside off. It's so I'm going to right click, and I'm going to select new button. And when Cool this one archive. All right, Now, let's say we wonder Start, we're going to save it one when creating new it it. So I'm gonna rightly Connecticut one duplicate and I'm gonna call this one it number two, and then I'm gonna move it a one into my archive folders. I was going to drag and drop it into archive, and then I'm going to double click on edit to to open it. Number two in my sequence. Now I can close. It won the tab right year, So I'm only seeing it too. Now I can carry on working on it too. And my edit one is basically archived. It's in the archive folder or in the archive one year and two is now my latest it and then maybe let's say you make some changes to this one, and then you want archive attitude to creating new it it I'm going to do the same. I'm going to duplicate it too. So right, click it a two and with a stick duplicate. And I'm gonna call this new 1 83 like so. And then I'm gonna archive it to drag it into the archive burden, double click on it, it three to open it. And I'm gonna close it a two year. So I'm only seeing it a three. And then I know it is three years, my latest in it. And if I save my project now and I come back later Oh, no, that I need to work on 83 years. That's my latest it. And if for some reason if I want to go back to some of the previous edits, I can always just go into the archive button and double click on one of these, and it's gonna open up that previous archived it. So that's basically out to use version ing inside of Premiere. If you want to go back to a previous version off your edits, you'll find them under archive, and it will just give you some flexibility when working on multiple versions of your edit. Exporting Your Final Video: Hi and welcome back to learn Premiere Pro Sisi 2017 in one hour in this video, I'm going to show you guys how to export your final video from Premier Pro. So let's say we working on it at three. And I've got some clips here on the timeline or in the sequence, and I want to export this now as my final video to upload to either YouTube or Facebook. So, first of all, we need to sit in an out point cause you can export earliest section off this sequence, but I want to export everything from the beginning, right to the last frame off my videos. So I'm gonna take this plate. I'm gonna put it right at the beginning. Chris, I on the keyboard for in and I'm gonna go to the last frame, Gonna use my arrow keys here to make sure on that lost frame. And then I'm gonna pris o on the keyboard for out. So as you can see that seven in and out on my sequence And now I'm gonna go to file and the export in media. As you can see, there's a shortcut. Command M. So we're going to click on that. And this is we're going to sit your codex in your presets And what file format you want to export. Your video s so really, simply we're gonna go for H 264 which is Ah, MP four file. It's gonna give you a high quality file at a small size. So which is really good. So your next to former make sure that's to say two h 264 and then simply under preset. Make sure that it's said to match source I betrayed. So it's gonna give you a nice and high quality file. Then, under output name, just click that name and then you can give it a file names. We call this my movie a one, and you can select We're gonna save it. You can choose a folder and ah, file four months. You can leave as in before we can save, and then you don't have to change anything else because it will actually get all these sittings from that preset and then simply click on export and it's gonna give you an estimated time remaining as going export your MP four files to that folder and you can obviously use that in before fall to upload to YouTube or Facebook or wherever you want to upload it to also you guys in the next video. 16.
