About This Class

In this class, you'll get an introduction to Okinawan Culture. Okinawa is a prefecture of Japan, and is made up of a number of islands that lie halfway between Taiwan and Japan. The culture is especially unique, as a number of different cultures have influenced the island over the centuries. In this class I'll take you for a walk around the streets of Naha, and especially the area around Kokusai Dori which is the most popular street in Naha city. I'll talk about some of the history, some of the present day culture, Japanese beef and Okinawan Beef, and Awamori, the alcohol that Okinawans are especially proud of. Hopefully you will gain some valuable knowledge about Japanese and Okinawan culture
