Project Description

Know Yo' Dough - Baking Tools, Tips, and Techniques

PROJECT:

Begin by building out your toolbox and incorporating as many of my 10 essential baking tools that you can get your hands on. Beg, borrow but probably don't steal the tools from friends and family. Choose one of the three recipes that I've shared (or all three if you are an overachiever) and mix, shape and bake up a batch of your own. Use the tools, and implement the tips, tricks and techniques that I shared with you in the videos.

DELIVERABLE:

After you’ve rolled your own, let me know which tool and technique you found the be the most valuable to your baking experience and why. As a food blogger, I am a sucker for pretty food photography, so if you’d like to share a shot of your baking process and/or finished product you get extra credit and a gold star!

Some of these methods take practice, so don't feel discouraged if you don't nail them right away. Keep at it. I am here for you if you need help along the way. Feel free to contact me here on Skillshare or through my website bakingthegoods.com

And remember, the more you dough, the more you know. -Bling****

SOME OF MY FAVORITE BAKING BOOKS:

The Grand Central Baking Book by Piper Davis: This book is my baking bible. The way Piper breaks everything down to the basics completly changed my baking game forever. This book is why I became a baker. I cannot preach the gospel of this book enough. Buy it, immediately.

Cookie Love: More Than 60 Recipes and Techniques for Turning the Ordinary into the Extraordinary by Mindy Segal (Author), Kate Leahy: This cookie book really gives you the lowdown on all things cookie related. My pal, Kate, poured her heart into this book and it shows. It's full of tips and tricks and so many fun and amazing recipes. A true tresure trove of cookieness.

Josey Baker Bread: Get Baking - Make Awesome Bread - Share the Loaves by Josey Baker: Josey is the man when it comes to bread baking. His passion, talent and innovation are palpable throughout the book and his bake shop, The Mill in San Francisco. If you're considering getting into bread baking, I suggest you start right here.

Home Baked Comfort for Williams Sonoma by Kim Laidlaw: I had the honor of taking a few baking classes from Kim at the San Francisco Cooking School. She really knows her stuff and has a authentic and approachable style. This book is full of amazing recipes with lots of tips and techniques.
