Get to know your watercolor paper!

At an art store buy up to 10 sheets of different watercolor paper. 
At home try painting on various papers to see which ones you prefer the most. 
When you are ready, buy a whole bunch of your favorite paper (perhaps it comes in rolls or pads).

Recommendations:

1. try different texture papers from very smooth (hot press, Yupo), to rough papers.

2. I recommend to select paper that is at least 140 lb and heavier.

3. apply different techniques on paper: splash, use dry dry on dry technique, wet on wet...

4. pay attention to how paint behaves on paper: how much is absorbs, does it fade away, can you remove it once it is dried...
