Take Chip's course and read his books about his cover designs. They're a fantastic supplement to the process he shares for those interested in cover design.
Chip Kidd talking about graphic design. What else do you need? The man is a treasure of information and anybody interested in the subject will get something out of it.
I'm not a fan of Chip's design style, but I loved the course anyway. I loved how he went through the history of book design and how he explained his own creative process. I would recommend this class to anyone interested in graphic design.
