About This Class

Hi!

I'm Rachel. I'm a devoted artist of fantasy and manga and I hope to share what I've learned works best when drawing and sketching!

This class teaches drawing female characters in the style of "Manga", a stylized japanese art, intending to create fanart, or art devoted to popular media. Fanart shows how much a fan you are in an artistic way. I'll teach you how to draw portraits of manga styled girls, express emotion, draw hairstyles, and usage of lines using photoshop. However a sketchbook and pencil are great if you prefer.

I can't wait to teach you!

I liked this class. It taught me a lot!
Exactly what I needed! However, I would have hoped for a much better video quality, and I'm not really a fan of the proportions used for drawing the face - it looks a bit unnatural and strange..

Drawing is such a stress relief!

Rachel Cheek

Digital Painting Enthusiast and Bug Whisperer

Rachel Cheek lives in Georgia and is currently a college student at Kennesaw State. She hopes to major in Animation and minor in Japanese and to be able to visually relay stories and uplift others. This nerd enjoys making illustrations, manga, concept art, and sometimes graphics with illustration twists to it. Her favorite hobbies include playing video games, collecting art posters and ghibli merchandise, spending time with friends, taking photos for reference, and petting kitties. She hopes to be able to continually learn more and improve her craft as an artist, connect with others, and to not starve.  Rachel can be found on twitter, instagram, deviantart, tapas.io, webtoons, and patreon under the name of Platyadmirer, doing her best to make art whenever possible.
