Download the Class Worksheets to use as a guide as you complete the writing exercises!

  • List Your Firsts
    • What new experiences have you had over the course of the last year?
    • List out 1-5 firsts that stand out to you.
  • Describe a Moment
    • Select a first from your list, then focus in on a moment during it that you want to unpack.
    • Write a short paragraph describing the moment in plain language.
  • Write Your Poem
    • Hone in on the feelings surrounding your moment and describe it using poetic language.
    • Challenge yourself to use 2-3 of these poetic devices in your poem.
  • Create a Personal Vignette
    • Select a line from your completed poem that stands on its own, then write it out on a separate sheet of paper.
    • Choose an object that complements the line you selected from your poem.
    • Take a photo of your vignette with your object and against different backgrounds.

Upload your visual vignette, your full poem, or one of your completed exercises to the project gallery. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
