Project Description

First, the Pen Personality reference sheet. Gather all of your pens - in good or new condition only - and order them by nib size, grouped by manufacturer. I'll guide you through creating a reference sheet.

Second, we’ll make a simple grid - a Hatching Patchwork - and run through a series of mark-making drills to build your strength and confidence in creating repeating patterns with line using ink. The techniques can then be used in illustrations and drawings.

Third, we'll take this confidence further and begin integrating hatching into watercolour sketches, mixed media work, or simply creating patches of mixed patterns and colours. This is where the hard work meets the personality of your art.
