Project Description

For this class you are going to make your own loom and weave your own design. I would suggest to start at a smaller scale to start. I’d recommend using between a 5"x7" and  8x8” loom so it’s small enough to not be overwhelming and big enough to hold a nice simple design.

Class materials required:

  • paper & pencil to sketch out ideas and draw out your design
  • a piece of cardboard for your loom (I recommend a piece 8x8”)
  • 2-3 different colors of yarn
  • scissors
  • tapestry needle
  • ruler

Optional materials:

  • Loom
  • Copper pipe, dowel rod, or twig for hanging

You are going to draft up a simple design using the illustration style you have already established. You will then choose your limited color palette. I would suggest to choose 2-3 colors for this project.

Steps:

  • You will make and warp your loom
  • create simple design that you want to weave
  • find your color pallette
  • start weaving!!!
  • finish your piece and take it off the loom
  • have fun! I really want you to enjoy this time learning!

Again, if you find you are stuck or need help, just leave a comment and I'll get back as soon as possible!

Happy weaving!
