About This Class

Learn and practice how to make illustrations of cute animals. This class is for anyone, more or less skilled in drawing, who would like to create original illustrations of his favourite animals. The final drawing should be surreal, soft, simple and fun. This class is the first part of the class series Cute Animals: Explore the Ways of Traditional Illustration. In this part you will learn how to create your own artistic translation of reality, some rules of abstraction and how to design and draw a cute animal with inks or ink pens. As a bonus I will show how to finish your drawing digitally.

Great class. Hard to understand her at times due to low sound quality but mostly it is great. Good instruction and solid foundation for the premise. Thank you.

Onward, into the digital!

It was a great intro class. I look forward to more illustration classes as well as enhancing illustrations with digital methods.

Lover of all things nature or art.

This is a great class to get acquainted with the basics of sketching and inking. You learn step by step how to look at an animal to translate it into a sketch. Sova gives constructive feedback on your project which is very helpful!

I have always been a mythology and fairy tale lover. I wanted to understand them more so I decided to study ancient religions at Charles University in Prague. I also loved art. When I finished my BA I decided to spend more time painting. I realized these interests can be complementary. The topics I study have often a curious atmosphere which is difficult to capture in words, but easier to express by art. Myths and folklore now inspire my illustrations and my artworks force me to see myths and folklore in a new perspective.

I also make traditional and digital illustrations for children - educational brochures so far - and I teach art and crafts classes for children. Right now I spend most of the time with my two years old daughter.
