1. About this class: Hi there. I'm Lovre are scientists with a patient for arts, especially for watercolor paintings. I'm currently leaving in the Amazon rain forest and nature here inspires me every day. At the moment I'm filming Is the time off Corona virus but a rebuild pandemic affecting all around the world Apparently, art, it's the last thing to consider at this stage. But I'm sure you agree with me. That is not true art really else to run away from stress and worry about the situation we are leaving. So with this class, I hope to bring you a little moment off joy. In this class you will learn how easy can be painting a monster relief in water colors. At the end of these cores, you will learn one off the most famous watercolor techniques that is wet on wet. You will be very surprised to know that watercolors literally dance with water and they allow you to obtain magical artworks. It doesn't matter really. If you never thought you brush before this class is for you. If you are interested on learning more about two watercolors and leaves, please, I go to my previous skill share class drawing mortar leaves with watercolors and ink, create easy botanical place cards and being that Kanako RLS paso a paso in Espanol. If you want to follow me on Instagram and Twitter and or my Yes, Isha, Here you have my contacts. Let's get started. 2. Materials needed: Let's see the material we need for this glass first a pencil and on the razor to draw the most. A relief done. We're going to use brushes to different brushes. One is a medium brushes. I'm using the court mont round brushes, and we also need a small one. So they says the small one. Then off course, we need the water colors, just orange and indigo. So just two colors. We're going to prepare the green with these two colors. You can also use them on on pen, as I'm showing there or in tube, as you prefer. No, no problem. Then we need a pallet. I'm going to use this, these pallets to prepare the green, and also this one, too diluted the green because we're going to need Ah, different dilution off the color to obtain shades off course, we'll need water to wash the brush. And two, they looted the colors and also another glass of water to clean up the brushes. A paper tower to dry the brushes. The paper we're going to use in this class is cancelled is a 300 grand for me to square. Valenti's suitable for these kinds off, drawing 3. Drawing the leaf: in this video, we're going to draw the most airily. So first we're going to sketch leave. Oh, now simple sheet. And then we're going to draw it on the watercolor paper. So first, to draw the leave, we're going to draw the main line. The main line means that we're going to draw our line this beach round and another one very close to the first. Doesn't matter if it's not perfect, because in nature, leaves are are not always perfect. Good. So this is the main vein? No, we simply draw on imaginary line that we're going to use to define the shape off the leave . But it's too much. So I'm going to to do it to game. It's a little more ST Sighs better. Okay? And the right side it's going to be it a little bit. Why, Jeff? Okay, So, as you can see, the left part is a little made street, and the right side is wider agencies, because belief appears more natural. Okay, so now why? Why we drove these lines is because they are guide our ourselves to draw the fingers off the leave. So, for example, this is the TP believe Then we go toward the center. We make a circle and go back to the edge and then tip go toward the center of believe and go back. Then we can go a little beat down. And this is very good, because in nature, leaves are not completely perfect. And then old there and that's it. Then go to the right side. We do the same cheap, different. So this is the way we're going to draw the leaf. Now we're going to draw the leave on the main sheet. I mean on the watercolor sheet. So first we're going to draw a Sui said the main vein. So starting from the left corner, we're going to draw, uh, a line like these and another one very close to the first that seats now. The two imaginary lines, the left one a little bit of ST and the other one, the wider but seats. So now we d a razor. Gently remove the pencil mark. Okay, so now let's drop. Let's site belief. It's not perfectly round so we can do a line like this. Then there go. So watch the main vein and go back. Go down cheap and go toe world, the main. They then go out there a little bit longer. Tip. Go inside. Go outside. Another one and the end also. Fine. Okay. Now go to the right side. So we do to say we basically draw these? Doesn't matter if it's Ah, a little bit different. This is better. Then go inside, make a circle and go outside. Go down a little bit tip and go inside. Outside. Go back. I mean, go down. Hey, we have the leaf. Okay, so now the next step is to draw the holes. I mean, no, sorry. First the secondary veins. So the secondary veins are simply the vein that will give to our leave a more natural effect. So, for example, I'm going to show you we are going to draw these secondary veins simply living Ah, white space between leave fingers. So, to do the head, we simply draw very soft line to represent the secondary veins. So one lines close to another one, and then these lines will be wide, completely white, so no color will be applied to this part. Okay, then will do the same on the right side. So as you can see is very, very easy to draw the second er reliance. That's fine. So this is the draw off our leave now. We're going to remove the pencil mark that were wear Not to use, too, to paint. So this one this one days they used yet removed with a razor. The pencil marks. Now we're going to draw the yowls. So deals on the monster relieve are simply to dry to draw because we just need to draw sickle on it. Beat elongated somewhere. I mean, they is not I mean, not too much. Not too much. Just a few. That's oh 4. Making your palette: in this video, we're going to see how to prepare the pallets. That means the colors we're going to use you can use our piece of paper or cycle paper doesn't matter, and we're going to to paint to to see the appearance off the colors we're going to use. So pick up a little bit off indigo, end a little bit off orange and put them on on the main palette like this. Now pick up the medium brush and add water to the indigo until you you you will obtain, um, a diluted color. So now, um, we're going to apply the color on the paper to see the appearance off the color on the paper. So we're going to notice how it looks on the paper because, as you can see on the palate, it has a color. But on the paper, the color is changing a bit, and so is important to see the color. The final results on the paper wouldn't do the same with the orange. So ed water, too. To prepare the color, Andi simply apply onto paper, so diseases orange. So this are the two main colors we're going to use orange and indigo. And let's see how, mixing them we'll obtain. Very beautiful green, a dark green. Let's do this and a little bit of water. And Mitch makes the two colors and look. The green is Ah, it's NYSE. Very nice. I love it is a very beautiful green, beautiful, so I really enjoy to prepare. My migraines and starting from primary colors because I usually able I'm usually able to obtain, are more realistic color, a more realistic green. So have a look. Now on the appearance off the green we have prepared. So look on the paper. How beautiful it is. It's a very deep grain. Very, very beautiful. Very, very beautiful. Good. So mixing the orange and indigo were going to obtain green. No, let's see how to dilute the green. Actually, if we add water through the green we've prepared, were able to obtain are a brighter tone off the same color. And this is very important because on the next video, where we're going to paint by layers, the most relief you're going, Teoh. No, To learn that we are, we have to do it by layers. So we will begin from the first layer that is off diluted green and the other layers will be over dark tone off green. So thes exercise will allow you to be able to obtain diluted green to be able to pain different tone off the same colors. It basically means that adding water to our our color you can easily they looted it has waded. Right now this is the brain we're going to using the scores it These are the diluted green . 5. Wet on Wet technique: in this video. You're going Children? One of the most famous watercolor techniques that is wet on wet. That means a wet color on wet baiter. Two bodies were going to simply draw a piece off the leave. Has we learned on the previous video? So this is the main vein. Then we're going to draw a finger off leave. And another one? That's it, then dis secondary veins, and we are ready to start the wet on wet technique. So take your brush your medium brush and and wash it with clean water. Then simply add water on the spot off the leave. The paper needs to be wet, but not too much. And of course, now Teoh even know did the opposite. Oh, I'm so sorry. Uh, on a helicopter is just flying on my roof. Okay, So disease, the wet paper. So let's see. Do you see? OK, this is the right amount off water? No, we the small rash. We you simply pick up a little beach off dry sorry. Off diluted green and applied just on the border off the leaves just on the border. This allows you to obtain a very diffusion off the water, Carter. And this technique is very useful because then we're going to use it on the leaf. Okay, so now apply our water on the other part, off the leave. So the most important thing here is to leave completely dry the secondary vein. So don't apply water in this part. Off the leave, you will see a T end, a very amazing result. Leaving these white spaces. Okay, so apply water on all thes area between the two veins with clean water. Okay, so now let's feeling with water. Okay, So now with a small brush, apply again the color on the board on the ages. So as you can see, the counter, um, is flying very slowly and very beautiful on the water. So the wet paper and the war and the wet color allows you to allow you to obtain these amazing situation. Then has you say I have year also the blue and the orange. And if you pick up a little bit off orange, you can apply it and give some natural effect to believe. Because has you already know the leaves are not completely green. They always have a little bit off. All the colors. And so we're going to create these effect on the leaf innovation. We're going also to apply the darkest color that is the blue. Just a little being just a little bit on, for example, year on the external edge, off the leave and on the on the part very close to the main vein. Okay, So the most relevant thing you you have to know about the wet on wet technique is that the paper needs to be wet. Not too much off course and no to less but the right amount of and then you gently apply water and color, and this is allow you to obtain these results. 6. Leaf painting_Layer 1: in this video, we're going to paint the most a relief. We're going to do it layer by layer. At the end, we're going to paint three different layers. So let's get started with the 1st 1 that is done with a very bright green. So in my palette, I have take a little bit off my first green, the green we made during the first exercise. And ah, yes, diluted with lots off water. Lord let off water. So I have a very bright great. So I'm going to use this green for the first layer. Now I'm going to assume the paint. So let's get started and have fun. First thing first is to apply water. So over there, clean water on this part off the leaf. Remember to apply the right amount of water. That means not to march and no to less. So just this part. Great. So as you can see the right amount is this one okay? No, I'm going to use the little brush on take the diluted green and I'm going to apply it just on the border, on the edges. Sorry. Off the leave. If the color is very, very diluted has mine. Please add a little bit off green to add more dark value. Okay, Doc Torrey, if it's ah, very bright because this is exactly what we we want. Fine. So now we're going to repeat the same on these spots, So I'm going to apply a layer off clean water. Is it possible that during the process off applying water your starting point is is going to drive very fast. So no problems Simply go back to it and wet it again. Don't forget. Don't forgot to. Don't forget to, um that the secondary veins has to have to stay in white and so no water and no paint will be applied. Okay, so now the paper is wet And let's apply the color the diluted green as a general idea, Don't don't apply color on the centre on this part off. Believe because we want to say a little beat. Ah, white. Because this allows to to obtain at the end. Ah, more realistic effect off, believe. And so basically, we're going to apply the color just on the edges, off the leave and close to the primary to the main vein like this. Okay. And so Now go on and on and take your time to Doody's. Relax. It's a very good way to to take a time for yourself to relax a little beat. We know that the pandemic period is very hard for most of us. And so painting. It's very relaxing moment that I hope you can enjoy. So we're going to do this one again together, and then I'm going to speed up the process. But please take your time to do it by yourself. Okay, Now I'm going just on the edges. Off the leave. Close to the corner. Sorry. Close to the to the center. A little bit there year now. Here across the mean around the hole. You also have to edge color. Great. So now I'm going to speed up the process. 7. Leaf painting_Layer 2: great. Now we're going to change the second layer off the monster relief. So and this is how we're going to play in the second layers. So up to the 1st 1 So the first step is to applying, um, clean water on the section s. So we're going to paint the leave by sections between secondary veins. So has, first we apply our clean water all around thes section. So has we said, uh, in the previous video is very important to apply the right amount of water that means not to march and now to less so this allows to obtain a very beautiful spreading off the water color. No, we're going to pick up the green were previously prepared mixing orange on indigo. And so, um, this is the green we're going to apply. So is simply cover the edges off the section Previously wet en gently a and gently go all around leave. But but just on the edges. So on the teapot believe And also in the section close to the primary vein to the main vein . As I'm doing right now, that's it. So gently applying the color just on close to the main vein and on the tip off the section , that's all. So now go to the next section to din Axa leave finger and repeat the same process. So we're going to gently apply Ah, layer off clean water old around the section as I'm doing now, and we're going to repeat the same process until painting the old leave is very relaxing, in my opinion, because it is a very repeated process. And ah, to me, it is very very. I mean, I I enjoyed very much this process because it's a very good way to relax Duren painting. Okay, so apply the water is I'm doing also around the hole that we know that is a very good A very typical shape off the monster relief. Great. So now be cup again the green. And as we did before, simply apply the Kander on the on the edges of the wet section. So be careful to avoid at color on the secondary veins, because these veins ham have to stay white. And so no color, no water. Go on the secondary veins. Okay, So, as you see gently, I'm gently applying the color close to the principal vein to the main vein and then on the simply on the on the cheap, off the leave and look how the water counter is spreading into the water. This is very beautiful. And this is the most characteristic, um, aspect off what colors. They basically dance with water. And I really do it because when water color is stuck in the water, it really dances. It really dances and helps you to paint. So is a kind off collaboration between you and the water counter. So if you want is I'm doing here, you can also use the small brush just to paint details. And now so now we're going to repeat the process and I'm going to speed up the video. So see, on few minutes, - Okay , Now we're going to add a little bit off orange to give to leave are more realistic effect. So be cup a little bit off or in, and just add some line year and there can be close to the secondary vein or close to the old. I mean, where where do you prefer? But just a touch will give a more realistic effect to the leave. So mixing green and orange and now we'll continue with the process. I'm going to speed up. Your beauty is the second layer 8. Leaf painting_Layer 3: Let's jump now into the layer. Number three. This is the appearance off the third layer. As you see in the center, we have a dark color and also on the the external part. So we're going to do this right now for the first for a fair earlier. We're going to use green and also indigo, as I previously prepared on on the palate. And so this is the two color, uh, we're going to use as we previously learned. The first cell is to apply. Um, water, clean water. So a layer off water on the paper. So now I pick up clean water, then simply what? The paper correspondent on the part we're going to to paint like this. So be careful. Two don't add water on the secondary vein because otherwise, because he test stay white. Okay, so now the party is a wet No is the time to add the green as data for the 1st 2 layers, I add green just on the part central central section of believe very near to the main vein , like I'm doing now, because this will help to obtain a three dimensional appearance off the leaf. So by adding watercolor on the center and on the external part. We're going to ever white space or more clear space along the leave, and this would create these three dimensional appearance. Now I had a little bit off indigo just a little bit because it's a very dark color. And so just some sports here and and there. Great. Now move on to the to the second section. I mean, the the lead singer, as I did before, I had clean water and I wet the section, in my opinion, is very, very relaxing because even if you have to repeated several times, but it's very, very relaxing and it creates a very good connection between you and the paper and the paintings are I really enjoy this part to repeat again and again the same process. Okay, so now we have applied the water clean water, and so with the the small brush, I take a little meat off green and I repeat the same process. So I apply the color just on the lateral part off the leaves. In this case, the left part just on the on the on the edge, on the T properly and of course I can pain till so lying into to define the leave off course. It's it's fine. And then I do the same on the center, on the center. I mean in the the part, very close to the main vein. So look how the leave it's This is just peering more three dimensional. Just adding a little bit of dark color on these two parts. The center, indeed lateral part ever. Now the indigo here and there. Some spots. And this is fine. That's perfect. So be careful with the small brush to avoid painting that second everything. And that's great. So now we're going to repeat you to the same process again and again until will where we're We've covered the the old the entire life. So again, enjoy the process unchanging the recording position. Uh, so I can I can show you that What is the right amount of water? You have to apply on the paper. So look at these days. This is very useful to see. So as you say, as you see, it's shining. But but not too much. I mean that there's not water dropping about the wet. The paper is simply wet So this is the amount of water that allows to obtain a very nice transition. Very nice spreading off the water colors into the paper. So just please f practice do exercise because just painting and do it. Um, just through this, you will be able to achieve the right amount off water. Okay, so then when at the end, off the water layer, we're going to repeat the same process as before. So edgy, the color green and the do you go on the center part? I mean, close to the principal. Very. I get green. I had a little bit of indigo. Some spot you on there harmed it with the with the small brush. I'm going to control very well the details between leaves. And so it's This is a reason why at this stage on the third layer, we're going to use small brush and not the the big one. So around the old, I will also add a little bit of indigo and look, the leads really appears. Three. They mentioned them. Okay, And this will be here on the TV and good. We were going to to obtain very, very fine detail dates. Okay, so No, I'm going to go on with the process. And I hope you you will also enjoy seem the the painting process. - Great . We have finished the pain. The layer number three. Look how beautiful it is. I love it. Really. I love it. That's fine. So let it dry. 9. Your Monstera: I'm so happy we are on the final stage off the class. I hope you really enjoy the class on this moment with me. Now it's time to do your project. And I suppose that you will be able to paint our most era leaf. So please use the main drove we we did together. Don't forget, you also can loaded from the webpage from the project section And you can also use the green um on on your palate. It doesn't matter off course. And, um if you want to use or engine indigo has we did in the class, that's perfect. So don't forget to share you work on the project section because it's really beautiful to see Ah, your your talent I really enjoy very much. And if you want to publish your artwork on Instagram, please take me so I can share on my incident Terrifying your war. So have fun and see you on a next class. My by
