How to Easily Transform Your Worldview & See Solutions Everywhere: in this lesson, I'm gonna cover a very, very important topic. And if you're able to really stop and grasp this lesson and the ones that come after this, you're gonna really find that it opens up an entire new world of creative problem solving and of finding solutions for you. And what we're gonna be talking about is the idea of frames. So what is a frame? Well, really, the idea of a frame is something that comes out of the world of NLP. One definition is it's just a general focus, direction or context around a given situation. So it's basically a way of looking at things. But let me give you a let me give an example so that it kind of helps you to see what I'm talking about. Let's imagine for a moment that you're riding on a bus and all of a sudden a father and his two kids get on the bus and as the bus takes off, what happens is is the two kids suddenly start getting up there, moving around there being rambunctious and they're just generally being disruptive. And as the bus ride continues, you find yourself becoming increasingly irritated with these kids and you're having thoughts like, Why doesn't that father do something about his kids? Why doesn't that father discipline his kids? And as the bus starts to come to a stop toe, let the father and the kids off. The father leans over to you, and he says, I'm really sorry about the way that my kids acted. Their mother died recently, and I'm just beside myself and they're taking it really hard. So again I apologize. And then he gets off the bus with his kids so you can see that the situation itself remained the same. There was There was a father with his kids on the bus and his kids were getting up and moving around in plain basically. But the frame of reference changed once that new information was added that the mother had just died. Suddenly, any feelings of if you're like most people, any feelings of you know and being annoyed or irritated suddenly or out the window and you're filled with a sense of compassion for the loss that that father and those kids are experiencing. So frames really provide a general lend through which you view certain experience view all experiences, frames, label experiences. They also focus your attention. So, based on the frame of reference that you're coming at it from, is going to determine where your attention is focused on any given situation, and they also limit your perception. And the key take away is that every situation is completely neutral. There is no meaning in in the world. The meaning comes from your frame of reference, just like you know, Shakespeare said. Nothing is good or bad, but thinking makes it so. Or Henry Ford said, Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right. And both of those quotes really speak to frames now. Another thing to understand is that there's literally countless ways to view everything. So if you're stuck on a problem and you can't find the solution when you're invested in that situation and you are feeling the sense of stuck nous and the sense of being frustrated with the problem, it's because you're locked into a particular frame. The reality is is that you are not stuck, okay, the only thing that stuck is you're stuck in a way of looking at it, so that's a really important distinction to make, because when you the next time you encounter a problem, if you remember that and you realize that there's literally maybe an infinite number of ways that you could view a particular situation, then it becomes very easy when you're experiencing something that you don't like or a sense of being at at a barrier that you can't surpass is realizing that there is another way to view this, and that starts to open the door to solutions. Now, one thing that's really important to realize. So if all of the meaning that we associate with the world comes from the frame of reference that were viewing it from and that were literally creating as they see an N. O. P. A map of the world and that that map is not the territory, then what is? It gives our experience a sense of continuity. What is it that makes our frame of reference seem really? And the answer to that is that is habit. We generally will tend to look at new experiences through the frame of our past experiences . And if we never question those frames, if we never question those ways of looking at the world. They just become more and more solidified to the point where we don't even we stop believing that there's any other way to view something. So again, the reason that we feel that our frames of reference are riel is because of our habitual way of thinking in the final thought that I want to leave with you before we move on to the practical application of this knowledge is that we can change these frames. So however it is that you're viewing the world. If you do not like it, you can change it. And by changing these frames, you're able to see new solutions, new possibilities in new ways of doing things and thinking of things that you would never would have considered it if you hadn't traded in that old frame for a new one. So it's all about expanding the way that you look at things giving you more choices and more options. So now that we have a basic understanding of what frames are and why they're important, let's move on to the next lesson where we can dive into exactly how to begin to apply this in our lives. 3. How to Turn Problems Into Opportunities & Resources Fast: So in this lesson, I'm gonna show you a very simple way to begin to turn problems into opportunities. And resource is, let me give you a quote by Einstein, and I'm gonna butcher the quote because I don't remember it exactly. But essentially, what he said was that if he had an hour to solve a problem, he would basically spend the 1st 55 minutes coming up with the correct way to pose the question. And then it would only take him five minutes to actually solve the problem. Because once he was able to determine the proper way to pose the question, then it would be very, very easy to solve the problem. Because what happens is that the way that you formulate the question around a problem is also the way that you're framing the entire problem to yourself. And as we discussed in the last lesson frames limit your perception. They direct where you focus your attention as well. So you need to be very careful how you actually frame questions about the problem that you're trying to solve. So one of the ways that you can use reframing to find new solutions to problems and overcome challenges is something called content reframing and content. Reframing really comes from the main assumption that that every behavior or situation has some context in which it's actually positive or can be useful. So content reframing Excuse me context. Reframing is really just the process of asking yourself how how a certain situation or behaviour is actually beneficial to you. Now. The reason why you want to do this because some people they think, well, this is silly. Why, you know, why would I try and think of a positive situation, a situation in which this behavior or event would actually be positive? And it's actually very rational to do this, because again, every situation, every object, every person, every problem is not really it has no meaning. As we mentioned before, there's no it's not a good or bad thing. It's just neutral information. So the reason why it's actually very rational to do this is because of that fact. So it's important to realize that your problem is not really a problem. It's just neutral information. The only time it becomes a problem is based on the frame that you put around it. So the way they use context reframing. Let me give you some specific questions in order to do that. One of the simplest ways to do this is just simply to ask yourself, in what scenario would this be useful? Another one is, How can this help me? Another? Another variation is, where can this situation be useful? Or where can this behavior actually be useful? Let me give an example. Let's say that somebody is viewed as being pushy or overly aggressive, right? And in that in that frame that's viewed as a negative thing. It's bad, like you're overly aggressive. You're too pushy. But you could reframe that and look at in what context would it be actually beneficial to be aggressive? Well, let's say that somebody is leading a team and they have a deadline that needs to be met. Well, obviously, in that situation, you're not gonna want a leader who is timid. You're gonna want someone who can actually deliver results on that deadline owner before that deadline. So you see that that's a way that you can just simply take behaviours or situations and start to look for other context. They can actually be useful to you so just as before. In addition to changing your state, you also want to make sure that you have something to record ideas that pop into your head as you go throughout the day. So add context, reframing into the fold and see what sort of new ideas in new opportunities that you're able to see once you start expanding your frame of reference. Alright, join me in the next video. 4. A Simple Way to a Fresh Perspective: in this lesson, we're gonna talk about the idea of content reframing and again. Nothing is good or bad, but thinking makes it so. The way that content reframing is different from context. Reframing is simply that instead of looking for scenarios or contexts where a behavior a situation would be useful or positive content, reframing is basically questioning whether it was ever a problem at all. It's changing the meaning directly. One of the hardest things for people to dio is to avoid getting too stuck in their viewpoints. So anything that you can do to continually expand your awareness continually question what you believe about things is going to increase your creativity. So the way you apply content reframing Teoh solving problems in your life is to simply ask , How is this problem actually a benefit to me? If I wasn't looking at this as a problem, how How might I see this situation if I was gonna look at this situation brand new without any preconceived notions or prejudices? How would I see this differently? What information about this problem am I missing? That might completely change how I'm viewing this situation. So these are some examples of ways to do a content reframe to begin to change the meaning of problems. Because again, change your lens and the problem goes away and you see only solutions. Okay, so now that you have a couple of excellent ways to begin to reframe problems and find new solutions, let's move on to the next section. 5. How to Complete the Class Project: Now that you've gone to the lessons, it's time to put what you've learned into action. So go ahead and practice what you've learned. And then to complete the project for this class, simply scroll down to here where it says, Start your project, Go ahead and add a title to your project and then in this space here simply include a comment, a question you have or a challenge that you'd like additional help with. And this could be a simple as a description of your experience. Then, once you've got this filled out, simply go down to this button. Click Create project and you're done.
