Project Description

Make Your Very Own French Macarons at Home

After carefully watching the videos, you’ll be ready to make your very own French macarons. Try your hand at the basic macaron shell recipe, choose a filling, and assemble your creation. Refer to the recipes and inspiration ideas below to get started! Snap pictures throughout the process and share them in the project gallery so we can all cheer along your success.

Important note: If you’ve never made macarons before, I recommend mastering the basic almond macaron shells before attempting any of the variations.

If you’re having any trouble along the process, don’t hesitate to ask me questions through the Community page. Also, make sure to check out my Macaron Troubleshooting Guide for dozens of answers to the most frequently asked macaron-making questions.

Download (and print!) the following documents to get started:

PROJECT DELIVERABLES

Use the Community and Project Gallery sections to share the following with me and other bakers who are also enrolled in the class:

  1. Share how and where you’ve heard of macarons for the first time. If you’ve ever tasted macarons, tell us where it was, and what your souvenir of the experience is. Share a picture if you have one!

  2. Share why you want to make macarons. Is there a special occasion? Is it because you want to learn a new skill? To impress friends? Or is it just because?

  3. Choose a flavor for the filling. Be creative! What is your favorite flavor? What was your favorite dessert as a child? Who are you making the macarons with, and what is their favorite sweet treat? When it comes to filling macarons, you can use pretty much anything, from jam to hazelnut spread, as long as it’s not drippy. See links below for inspiration.

  4. Make your first batch of macaron shells. Share any difficulties you encounter during the process, along with pictures if possible, and I will do my very best to help.

  5. Celebrate your success! Share a picture of your assembled macarons, so we can all cheer along with you.
