1. Introduction - How to Improve Memory: introduction. How to Improve Memory. It's a self help guide on how to improve your memory so that you are better equipped to remember anything that you commit your mind to. We all are vulnerable to forget for this once in a while, but it becomes a problem when the same begins to be frequent and starts affecting your life . Even if you don't think it is a problem, it is only sensible to learn ways of constantly sharpening your memories so that it remains at its peak performance. Even as you age, following this seven step plan is a good place to begin this process. Chapter one will cover the importance of challenging your brain for constant improvement, just as is required when you want to build your muscles. It will give ways in which one can incorporate the same in their day to day lives. It borrows from the use it or lose it principle. Chapter two will look into the connection between physical exercise and a person's mental well being. Not only will it cover the health benefits of the same, but it will also provide the specific recommended physical exercises that are helpful to the brain and memory in particular, Chapter three will tackle the importance of having adequate rest and sleep with regards to memory. It will also recommend a number of useful practices on the issue. Chapter four will make a connection between stress and memory impairment and provide ways to prevent or minimize the same. Chapter. Four will make a connection between stress and memory impairment and provide ways to prevent or minimize the same. Chapter. Five will highlight the importance of proper dieting with regard to memory. It will provide some useful do's and dont's on the matter. Chapter six will delve into the specific practices that one can use in any given situation when they want to recall it in the future easily. Chapter seven will explain what demonic SAR and explains some of the many pneumonic devices that are at anyone's disposal. In addition, it will give relevant examples for each one of them so as to teach readers how to use them . There are plenty of guides on this subject on the market. Thanks again for choosing this one. Every effort was made to ensure it is full of as much useful information as possible. Please enjoy it 2. Chapter 1 - Step 1: Regular Mental Workout: Chapter one. Step one Regular Mental workout. It is true in many cases that practice makes better, if not perfect, the rare ones air, such as when you have a bad knee and go against your doctor's recommendation for rest. Most others air positive Examples. Air. If you want to excel in a certain topic or discipline in school, even if you believe that you are already good at it, you need to practice constantly so as not to lose your sharp edge. If you are an athlete soaring high in your career, it will be the death of your career. If you stopped practicing as hard as you did before. This is because you will soon be surpassed and replaced by others. Given that those at the Senate's of their zones need to exercise hard to retain their already glowing positions. Just how hard must those who try to get their work? Your brain requires regular practice to function optimally. Neural plasticity refers to the brain's ability to adapt to whatever it regularly does. Neural pathways air formed for every repetitive action, so it is in your best interest to ensure that the new ones there are being formed serve you best. For example, if you wish to become an accomplished writer right regularly and with time, you will realize your dreams. It is obvious that you will make mistakes at the beginning, but repetitive action and corrections on your part will create new neural paths in your brain on how to do it. For instance, with constant practice, you will realize that proper preparation is critical not only for the timely delivery but also for the quality of your work. From then on, it will become clockwork. So what is one to do when the goal is to foster their memory? The same goes for this issue. The answer is to practice. Challenge your brains that constantly try to recall various things. Memory for both short and long term is mostly a subconscious thing. You do not go around remembering everything in your conscious mind. Was this the case? We would all no doubt be overwhelmed by the information we carry around consciously. Rather, most information that is not actively being used is stored in the subconscious, and it's only retrieved upon requirements. Therefore, the trick of memory fostering lies and training your subconscious to get used to it create new neural pathways that will help you do just that. The answer is to try and remember. You may ask just how to do that when life itself calls for remembrance in almost everything , we do well, try and do it consciously for change conscious memory training as stated, memory is largely dependent on your subconscious mind. We all have been in that situation where you are asked something you think you have no prior knowledge of, but give the answer all the same. Not only do you give the answer, but you also do it with a certain conviction that you are right. It is because your answer was embedded somewhere in your subconscious, and it only needed a little trigger to get it out. Note that whatever you keep in your subconscious must have, at least at the point of learning, gone through your conscious mind. This section aims to make you nurture the receptivity of your conscious mind so that anything that goes through it to your subconscious mind will be easily retrievable, consciously memorise names. This may not sound like much since it appears to be everyone's daily requirement. However, you will be surprised at how little attention people pay the names and how soon they forget them. Were you ever in a situation where someone introduced themselves to you? Then, in the course of your conversation, you find yourself trying hard to remember their name in a vain effort of averting an awkward situation. This is because you probably did not pay its entrance of their names and therefore ended up forgetting sooner rather than later. If you wish to become better at recalling names of people, you first need to do it consciously. While every time is ensuring that you test yourself, do not beat yourself up. If you fail, since this may be expected at first, you will get better with time. For instance, a good way to do this is such as when you are watching a movie. As the show progresses, try to commit to memory all the names of characters, both the main and the supporting ones. This, of course, will be rather challenging, particularly with regards to some of the more insignificant characters in the movie. The good thing about this is the end of every movie provides you with a unique opportunity to test yourself this is when you get to match the stage names you memorized to the real names of the actors. You may not do very well at your first try, but with constant practice you will get better at it before you know it. Memorization will come naturally to you. And even without trying so hard consciously, you will find that you are able to remember most of them by simply sitting through a movie . Get into the habit of memorizing the things you read or hear. Apart from memorizing names, it is a great mental workout practice to actively commits a memory and try to recall everything that you read or hear. This is particularly helpful in many situations. Examples, or such as being able to recall what you read will be very helpful to someone who was trying to study something. Mastering This will save you a lot of time as a student, where you have to go back every time to re read what you just read. Memorizing what you hear is very useful in conversations and particularly in debates. It is obvious that it is difficult to memorize everything that you read. For example, it may make very little sense trying to cram a newspaper article or a novel trying to do this will eat up so much of your time, and the chances of succeeding are slim at best, even for those people with the best memory capacities. The main reason for this is that such an endeavor is so boring and tedious that you will soon run out of attention or the will to go on. However, there are some things that you may find quite riveting. These include versus from the Scripture lines from Great Quotes, stands is of great poems or lyrics of some a good song. Such riveting lines will prove a lot easier to commit to memory in your efforts to sharpen your mind, Try learning a new foreign language. There is nothing that can be more challenging to your mind than moving out of its conventional path and into uncharted territories. One such ways through learning a new foreign language. For instance, if your native language is English, try learning other languages, such as French or Mandarin. As you struggle with a new way of talking, tackling new letters, syllables and sounds, your mind will be struggling to remember all this new information it is being supplied with . At first, it will be difficult to memorize information about your chosen foreign language, but it will get easier with time in order to get better at this. Use all the opportunities you get to use your newly learned language so as to push your memory to its limits. Resisted temptation to use your native language. When memory fails, you rather take this as a challenge to dig deeper into the recesses of your subconscious mind for the right phrases or words. This way, you will constantly be trying to recall words, phrases, numbers or even intimations you learned before. In doing so, you will be exercising your memory while learning something new at the same time. Talk about killing two birds with a single stone. Learn to play a new instrument many people may fail to see. We're learning to play. A new instrument becomes relevant to sharpening one's memory. Take, for instance, that you decide to take up piano lessons is not just a matter of sitting down before the keyboard and sapping away the keys. As you try to find your rhythm, you first need to learn the basics of piano, such as the types and sounds produced by the Keys. As you begin your first practice on the keyboard, you will need to rely on such analogies. You play your first tunes. It is obvious at this point that you will be relying on your memory to recall whatever information is necessary to facilitate your proper playing of the instrument. Of course, as time goes by, you will get better at it and you will be able to play it without much strain. The same goes for all of their instruments. Regarding memory sharpening. It is the process of learning the new instrument that is crucial at that point were you bank on recalling which you know or learn about the instrument in order to apply it. The good thing about this method of memory sharpening is that it offers a way of gauging yourself. This is to say that you can judge the power of your memory from how you play it. Beginning from your first attempts onwards, the faster you could master a new instrument, the sharper your memory is. It therefore makes sense that the more you push your mind to learning new instruments, the better your memory becomes again. Failure is normal for the first few attempts, and this should not put you off. Rather, failure should be taken as a challenge to which you should rise. Challenge yourself the games and puzzles. Memory is a key construct of the mind. Sharpening one means sharpening the other. As such, it is impossible to challenge one without challenging the other. There are games and puzzles that are particularly challenging to the mind. For example, it is a good mental exercise to get into the habit of trying out crossword puzzles from your favorite daily newspaper. Not only do you learn a lot of new vocabulary from this practice, but you also sharpen your mind is to try to figure out the best fit. In addition, you will be banking on vocabulary from your mind to fill in the crossword a good game that is almost similar to the crossword puzzle. What how it enhances one's mental acuity of Scrabble. In this game, it is often a person who is able to form the highest scoring words that wins. To do. This one relies on words from their memory. Therefore, by regularly playing this game, you are constantly challenging your memory to come in before Juno off, since you cannot just form a word from the blue of which you had no prior knowledge off qualities of a good mental workout exercise. Every exercise requires some qualities in order to have the desired effect. Take, for instance, that you are looking to build your biceps. A good workout in this case would be those that specialize in that particular area of your body. For instance, it would be recommended that you lift weights that will strengthen your biceps muscles. For this situation, exercising on the treadmill will do very little to help you if your goal of building your biceps. Therefore, although running on the treadmill is still exercise, it is not a good quality for your desired outcome. The same applies to mental workout exercises. There are certain qualities of these exercises that you need to watch out for if you want to improve your memory. These include, but are not limited to, the mental workout. Exercise must involve learning something new. It must be challenging. It must entail develop herbal skills and should be rewarding the importance of these qualities regarding the process of memory sharpening is discussed in the following section . Learning something new. What good would it do you if you continue practicing something that you are already good at ? Take, for example, that you're training to code in a particular language. It will make little sense to keep on practicing by writing the same kind of program over and over again. Granted, you will be very good at it, but of what used to us. Such repetition. If you wish to advance in the set language, you ought to look into the other areas of its possible application and practice on this as well. The same goes for memory training. You do not sharpen your memory by trying to recall the same things over and over again. Let's say that you try to do this by naming all the capital cities of all countries in the world. You will try this for a number of times before you master them all. The memory sharpening process is only valid and effective as long as there is still something to learn and therefore something new to recall. Once you learn them, it is no longer of value to your memory. If you try to recall them over and over again. If you still wish to use it, lay it aside for some time, maybe a few weeks, then try to see if you can still recall them. You ought to push it to its limits by introducing something new and then trying to recall this challenging in nature. If you really want to develop your memorization techniques, ensure that all your mental workout exercises are challenging. Whereas trying to recall a seven or eight digit number may do your memory. A lot of good trying to recall a 15 digit one will do you even better. You get the gist. Always go for those things that challenge you if you want to emerge the best from the suggested exercises in the previous section. For instance, if your goal in learning a new language is to improve your memory, then it will be more useful to go for the one you consider the hardest. Better yet, you can take up to two of the Met ago. By doing so, you will be stretching the demand for memorization techniques to new limits. Hence you'll get much better at them possession of developable skills. This is almost the same as the previous point on the need for any mental workout exercise to be challenging here. Possession of developable skills implies that the exercise must leave room for constant improvement. A good example of this qualities with games. If you choose to sharpen your mental acuity by playing games, you will do yourself justice if you settle for one of different levels. Take, for example, a game of online Scrabble. It usually comes with different levels. Novice, middle and expert. As you play, you begin with the easiest or lowest level in advance your way up. Rewarding This is perhaps the most important quality of any mental workout exercise. When you are engaged in something that is rewarding in the end, you are likely to pay more attention to what you're doing from the example exercises given there are some that are outstanding with regards to the rewards that they can offer you. The 1st 1 is the one on learning a foreign language here. The reward upon successful learning is not only that you sharpen your memory, you also equip yourself with a possibly very useful resource. The others are learning how to play a new instrument and memorizing some good poems, scriptures or lyrics 3. Chapter 2 - Step 2: Regular Physical Workout: Shafter to step two regular physical workout Physical workout is associated with numerous health benefits, some of which include a reduction of risks of cardiovascular diseases, reduced risk of diabetes, keeping body waiting control, among others. These health advantages air known to many people, given that you are bound to run into them in many places where avenues, however, what many people don't know is the connection to physical activity has to ones mental acuity, particularly their memory. This advantage of physical exercise has not been given the justice it deserves, and as far as publicizing it concerned, the fact that it is often downplayed does not reduce its affected at least bit. This section looks to highlight the importance of physical exercise in memory improvement and also to recommend specific exercises with regard to this issue. Advantages of physical workout in relations and memory improves blood flow to the brain. It is common knowledge that exercise increases the rate of a person's heartbeat. As such, with exercise, there is always a corresponding increase in the rate of blood flow throughout someone's body. The brain thrives where there is enough oxygen. For this reason, the increased blood flow rate in the brain means a faster supply of oxygenated blood and correspondingly fast removal of de oxygenated blood. This way, the brain remains with sufficient oxygen's of performance functions. Aerobic exercises in particular, increased the heart rates of people, therefore improving blood circulation to all parts of the body, including the brain. Whatever the region of the brain that is in consideration, it is bound to perform optimally with sufficient oxygen supply as opposed to when it supplies low. This includes the areas of the brain that are associated with memory, both short and long term. The hippocampus region of the brain is one such part, and it is associated with cognitive abilities of a person. It therefore goes without saying that oxygen plays an important part in someone's ability to memorize or call information stored in memory. With this, it is not a huge leap to draw. The connection between physical workout and memory increases the size of the hippocampus. Research conducted by the University of British Columbia students revealed that aerobic physical exercise had the effect of increasing the size of the hippocampus in a person's brain. This is the area of the brain that associated with verbal memory and learning. The hippocampus is situated deep inside the temporal lobe of each cerebral cortex. Scientists revealed that a person could grow new neurons in the hippocampus in a period less than a month purely from aerobic exercises alone. This discovery had huge implications regarding the effect of physical exercise and memory preservation or enhancement. There are obvious advantages with the enlargement of the hippocampus is a result of physical exercise. The 1st 1 has to do with limiting a person's memory loss as a result of old age. It is obvious that as a person grows old, their mental functions, including memory, begins to decline past a certain age. If one exercised a lot during their younger ages, it means that despite the inevitable deterioration of their mental functions at old age, they would before much better in terms of their memory faculties. Hippocampus. This is to say that if you do not physically work out, your memory is likely to deteriorate at a faster rate during old age. Boost growth factors. The functioning of the brain in general is highly dependent upon neural pathways that are forms of corresponds to certain activities, senses, triggers or reactions, just like every other cell in the human body. The development of these neural pathways is dependent upon the production of particular growth factors. Research shows that exercise promotes the production of these growth factors. Specifically, the production of a group of growth factors called the neurotrophic. Factors in the brain have been linked with physical exercise aerobics in particular. The functions of neurotrophic factors in the human brain include, but are not limited to. They promote the survival of neurons, support the growth of both developing and mature neurons, support differentiation of neurons, induced synaptic plasticity and, most importantly for us, facilitate and promote the formation of long term memories. The highlighted functions of neurotrophic hormones in the brain served to emphasize the importance of exercising with regards to memory. It is important to note how this point size to the other one about the hippocampus part of the brain, slowing down the degradation of mental functions with old age. Adequate physical exercise not only ensures through the enlargement of the hippocampus a slower mental degradation, it also ensures better hold of long term memories reduces the risks of Alzheimer's and dementia. Alzheimer's disease and dementia are conditions that are characterized by a progressive loss of certain mental functions, mainly memory. Although incurable, the conditions can be controlled through medication. However, research shows is significantly reduced risk of developing these conditions when one does a physical workout on a regular basis. Such diseases often developed during old age and occur more frequently for people who are not so much physically active during their younger ages. Given that the gold this guy just to help you with issues regarding memory, it is obvious that these two conditions ought to be avoided at all costs since they affect the very memory we are incented sharpening. Up until recently, there was no definitive connection between the lack of exercising and dementia or Alzheimer's disease. However, there is a growing number of literature and several pieces of research that have been conducted since, suggesting a strong connection between exercising aerobic exercises and a reduced risk for the two conditions. Definitive results have been obtained in performing such experiments and other animals, and the results extrapolated since there are a number of challenges and studying the same with humans. So if you want to keep your memory intact well into your old age, better start your frequent aerobic exercises. Now some of such exercises will be discussed in the next section reduced risks of other health complications. Apart from health complications such as Dimension, Alzheimer's regular workout reduces the risks of developing other diseases, while Alzheimer's and dementia directly affect a person's memory. Other diseases may have the same effect but indirectly, such as through medication. A good example is with cancer patients who have to endure repeated chemotherapy treatments in order to manage their conditions. Research has shown that excess chemotherapy treatment, especially among Children, has the capacity to significantly affect other mental functions, including memory. It is not the treatment of cancer alone that has been established to, at the very least, impaired the patient's judgment. A myriad of other medications to for all different sorts of medical conditions have tested positive. Under this study. It is very rare to find a type of medicine that is used to treat a particular condition. If you take time to consider carefully, virtually every drug prescription or over the counter has side effects on the patient. As a matter of fact, most of them have more than one. Just how many of those side effects are connected to a person's memory. It is therefore important to keep fit by exercising so as to reduce the risks of other health complications known or unknown, which may affect your brain or memory reduced stress hormones. Although this will be dealt with at length in Chapter four, I find it necessary to mention it here due to its connection with the topic at hand. First, it is important to find a connection between stress and memory. This will be done best in the form of a question. Stress is part of everyone's life, irrespective of financial, social or political status. The only difference is the level of stress that one has and the breaking point of the same person. The capacity to handle depression and or anxiety differs from one person to the next, and so does how we handle stress. There are those among us who can handle it better and others who are easily overwhelmed. I urge you to think back to some point in your life where you were under too much stress and try to think about the circumstances that surrounded you. Then what brought about the stress? Was it some bad news about the demise of a loved one being laid off from work, separation or family issues. What were you doing during that time? Who were you with during or around that time? What were the reactions of some of the people around you? There is a very slim chance that you will be able to answer these questions definitively if you are honest regarding your stressful situation. The reason behind this is that stress makes us disillusioned about the present, our surroundings and every other thing that goes on. This is because we fixate on the problem too much and end up being bypassed by the present . As such, stress presents itself as a dent or a blurred memory and must therefore be treated as such . Studies revealed that regular physical exercise goes a long way in reducing stress hormones . As such physical exercise can boost our memories, particularly during stressful situations. Improve a person's general attention and receptiveness for you to memorize anything you need to pay keen attention to whatever it is. For example, if I'm trying to memorize a particular number, a long one for later use, I must First of all, consider that number with concentrated attention as I try to embed it in my memory at this time of concentration, there must not be any external distractions if I'm to successfully memorized a number, the same goes for retrieving or when you want to remember anything. You require some sort of mental calmness and stability if you're to be successful in retrieving information from your subconscious. So how does this focused attention and mental comets required fit into the practice of physical workout and fitness? Independent studies conducted by psychology students from the University of California and others from Bar Ilan University in Israel showed the physical exercise caused inattention spike among people suffering from 80 HD attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The results were negative for normal people. This is, however, not to say that physical activity was bad for the attention of normal people. The desired attention and mental stability comes much later after the exercise has been completed. Recommended physical workout exercises, aerobic exercises. Much has been said about the importance of aerobic exercises with regards to the preservation and or sharpening of one's memory. However, very little has been said about what such exercises entail. In particular, the following section will unravel this by explaining the meaning of aerobic exercises and by giving some specific examples of the same. The other term for aerobic exercises is cardio from cardiovascular conditioning. They include all physical activities that require aerobic or oxygen dependent energy processes, and thus to term, the trick behind aerobic exercises is to turn all carbohydrates in the system into energy to be used during the training session. As such, they are often low to mild in intensity and are often carried out for extended periods of time. There is a long list of aerobic exercises from which you can choose from. The most common of them are medium or long distance running or jogging. This is common among many people because it does not require specialized equipment or gear . All you need is your pair of running shoes, and off you go. She was a track around your neighborhood, preferably one that is in close touch with nature for a richer experience and begin your cardio. Be sure to make it a regular thing if you want to reap the maximum benefits from your training program, Even simply walking for long distances constitutes cardio. If you are more of an indoors person, you can do your aerobic exercises through swimming, rope, skipping or running on the treadmill exercises that require good hand eye coordination. Such exercises are particularly useful for memory sharpening. The reason is that, compared to other exercises, those that require the coordination of two or more body parts at the same time from the person requires heightened attention. The individual was required to pay attention to whatever he or she is doing if they want to get it right. It is obvious that making this a habit is likely to increase a person's attention, a great deal and the attention is likely to be transferred to other sectors of their lives . This is a positive step with the guards at one's memory. Since attention is the first step towards memorization, there are many exercises under this category that one can choose to do. Most of them fall into the category of sports as opposed to mere exercise. The best examples are tennis, basketball, hockey, soccer, among others. Just pick one that interests you and begin your training notes that you don't have to take it up with professional vigor. Leave that to the professionals for you, enjoying it as just another hobby with friends will serve the purpose. Just make sure to do it as frequently as you can so as to reap the maximum benefits. Morning jogs and workouts. Are you among those people who always cannot seem to find their bearings in the mornings before downing a cup or two of coffee? Do you always seem confused in the morning before that early cup of tea? If your mind and memory cannot begin to work properly without this early morning ritual, you should consider exercise not only is a remedy to caffeine dependency, but also as a memory booster. After all, caffeine dependency of this sort is not good for your health. Even if you are an adult and have no more growing to do, there is a better solution for you if you are among those who suffer from the conditions mentioned. This is to work out early in the morning. Every day you will be surprised at the wonders that a little morning judge can achieve in the way of brightening up your otherwise dealt mornings. Not only will you be proactive, but your mind will also be functioning at its optimum. This includes your memory. Even without taking that ritualistic morning coffee, make it a habit of yours that exercise the first thing you do in the morning, particularly as if it is normal for you to wake up to demanding tasks that require a sharp mind and a dependable memory. You should realize that all the exercises highlighted in this section can be done as a unit . This is to say you can kill two birds with a single stone. For instance, you can put in your morning hours of practice by doing cardiovascular exercises, which are particularly good for memory. Alternatively, you can opt for one that requires a heightened level of coordination so that as you exercise to wake your mind up, you boost your attention as well. 4. Chapter 3 - Step 3: Adequate Rest and Sleep: Chapter three, Step three. Adequate Rest and Sleep Sleep plays a very crucial role in determining the efficiency of a person's mental functions. Memory is, in most cases among the first victims. When someone to sleep deprived, many people often confused a minimum amount of sleep that one can do with the minimum required for optimum functioning. While you may be able to get by after just 4 to 5 hours of sleep, optimal mental functioning requires sleep of between eight and nine hours and adults. This figure could be a bit higher for Children, given that they are far more physically active during the day. So if you intend to keep your brain function, particularly memory at its peak, ensure that you get an adequate time of peaceful. Should I note that the key word here is peaceful? Should I? It is not enough to go to bed at the right time. If what you're going to do is roll about in bed for hours before catching some sleep, others simply shift their place of work to bed and call it going to bed early. Others have developed a habit of reading in bed, which is not bad except for the fact that these hours do not count as hours of sleep. A 2018 research conducted by psychology students of the Mexican State University unearthed the true extent of sleep deprivation. The researchers studied the effects of sleep in 234 people who were required to perform some task that was highly procedural. In a sleep lab beginning at 10 at night, the participants were interrupted from their tasks regularly so that they had to depend on their memory to recall where they were in their procedures and pick up from there. After two hours of this exercise, half of the participants were allowed to go to sleep, while the other half were required to go on through the night. In the morning, the all nighters were joined by those who had slept in. The experiments went on. This was when the real test of the experiment came alive. The exercise was the same as when they started ah, highly procedural task, with periodic interruptions to test the subjects memories. At this point, the researchers established a marked increase in errors among the all nighters, as opposed to those who had had some rest at night. Not only that, they find it a lot difficult to locate where they had stopped before being interrupted, but they also made a lot more mistakes. When they first started the experiment, the spike in mistake showed how short term memory was also vulnerable to sleep deprivation . It was apparent that reading instructions to be applied only moments later was a big challenge to those participants who were sleep deprived. According to the research, up to 1/3 of all accidents that occur could be directly or indirectly attributed to a lack of adequate sleep. A separate study by researchers from the universities of grown Again in Pennsylvania revealed exactly how sleep deprivation hinders memory. This experiment was conducted on mice due to their invasive nature. It revealed that sleep deprivation of even five hours led to an impaired association of neurons in the hippocampus region of the brain. The study further revealed that taking naps greatly improved the functioning of this region , which is associated with memories and learning what to do to get adequate sleep. Having established just how sleep is important to memory, what are some of the practices that you should do so is to ensure that you get an adequate amount each night as stated. It is not enough to go to bed early each night if you're going to spend a lot of time awake before you finally muster some sleep, are you one of those people who find it hard to sleep Once you get to bed, this section will give pointers on some of the do's and dont's. Regarding the issue of sleep, keep off caffeine. Caffeine is a strong stimulant that could deprive anyone of sleep. It is best for you to keep off drinks with caffeine for at least an hour to before you go to bed. If you cannot keep off the same altogether, the most commonly used beverages to contain caffeine or coffee and tea. Others may argue that such drinks open up their minds and that they function a lot better with caffeine in their systems. While this may be true to some extent, the truth is that the results are bound to be detrimental in the long run. It is on Lee. If you have your priorities wrong, that you will need to have your mind opened up before you go to bed. If anything, you ought to concentrate on how you will get your sleep as soon as you hit the bed, rather than give your body all the reasons not to. If you come to think of it, what good is an extra hour to have stimulated wakefulness if it means that you live the next day at average, if not below mental performance, get your math right and keep off caffeine, especially at such hours. The good news is that even those who are overly dependent on caffeine can learn to quit it gradually. This is what you should do, if only for the sake of your memory. Have a regular sleep schedule, so you are a grown person with many different concerns to its into deadlines to beat or errands to run. How on earth can you manage to go to bed at the same time every day and wake up at the same time? Or better yet, how you cope if you commit yourself to do that? The answer to the last question is that coping is precisely why you should do it. You must have realized by now that a few hours spent doing some quality work is better than a lot spent doing sub standard work. If you deprive yourself of sleep with the excuse of working late hours, sooner or later you are bound to begin putting in long hours with nothing much to show for it. What good will it do to sit at your desk for long, unproductive hours where you spend most of them trying to recall things that seems always managed to evade your memory? You need to create a regular sleep schedule and stick by it religiously. Make sure that every night you have between eight and nine hours of quality sleep. Within a week of trying this, you will be surprised at how better you will be at remembering things that always seemed a bit tricky before. Keep this habit up. If you want to reap maximum benefits, keep off screens before bedtime. Another common thief of sleeping hours, particularly among the younger generation. Our screens. Whether it is on mobile phones, tablets or laptops, many people waste a lot of quality sleeping time to their detriment. There are two ways in which such screens rob you of your time and, by extension, damp in your memory. The first way is too straightforward. One. When you get in bed every night, roughly how long does it take you to fall asleep? However long it takes? You know the distractions from such screens have the power to increase his time significantly. Take, for example, that it takes you half an hour to get sleep. If you go to bed at 10 this means that you will start sleeping at half past 10. Assume that you get a notification message on your phone at 11 and you wake up the check it . This action alone will have robbed you another half an hour of trying to sleep. Consider a situation where you get several these messages all throughout the night. Just how long will you have slept? Another way through which screens can rob you of your sleep is the blue light they emit. Research shows that this light makes it hard for one to sleep for a considerable amount of time after being exposed. It is therefore, in your best interest to keep off such gadgets before or during sleep. If you cannot resist the temptation, then turn them all for the night. Importance of wakeful rest of memory in a certain study to test the effects of wakeful rest on memory retention. 20 participants were given a list of items to study. The participants were spread across all ages, young and old. Upon studying the list, half of the participants were required to rest for eight minutes before being required to recall as many items from the list. It's possible the other half was required to solve matrices or play some mind games for eight minutes after reading the list when they were finally required to recall items from the list. The research revealed a big discrepancy between the two groups. The group that it then some wakeful resting was able to recall a lot more than the other one that had played matrices. After memorizing the list, these results were replicated across all ages, showing just how important and effective wakeful rest is to memory. This research serves to show just how important rest is to memory. Knowledge of this research finding can be particularly helpful to students when they prepare for their examinations. After a session of studying rest for a little while to digested things you read this way you will remember a lot more once you step into the examination room. If you are a learner, which we all are, take some time to rest and internalize things. Every time you learn something new during this time, try to avoid all sorts of distractions and you will find yourself doing much better at memorizing stuff. 5. Chapter 4 - Step 4: Keep Stress in Check: Chapter four step for Keep Stress and Check. As mentioned in Chapter two, Stress is the enemy of not only memory but of every other function of the brain. This chapter will form a connection between stress and diminished memory and then try to offer solutions to the same call to mind the questions used in Chapter two on how to determine the effect of stress on memory. How many of them could you answer with absolute clarity of mind again? If you're perfectly honest, and if you identify the truly stressing situation for you, then chances are that you were called very few details around period. This only serves to prove detrimental nature of stress with regards to. There is nothing we can do to eliminate stress, anxiety or depression from our lives. Sooner or later, as long as you are still alive, you will get your moment. So what is one to do in order to shield him or herself from the negative impact that such situations bring, especially with regards to mental functions and memory, you should learn how to minimize instances of the same. There are a number of activities there are known to significantly reduce the impact of stressful situations. These include, but are not limited to, fostering strong familial ties, socializing with others in meditation, fostering strong familial ties. It is important to have strong bonds with your family as they are the ones that you will turns you doing your periods of stress and depression. In this situation, having strong familial ties is tantamount to having a safety net to catch it whenever things go awry. Knowing that you can always count on someone else's assistance or ability and willingness to comfort you can go a long way in reducing the negative impact of stressful situations. This way, Even if things don't go how you expected them to, you are less likely to be frustrated knowing that your family is there for you. As explained in the introductory part of this chapter, a settled mind is far more powerful at recalling things than an unsettled one. One of the main causes of stress is disunity within the family. However good you may be regarding your career, problems at home are bound to take its hold on any individual and in the process, impair their cognitive skills. Use your family as a support group to help your mind, to settle, even during trying times, and you will be better at recalling things, socializing with others. Humans are social in nature. We cannot survive, let alone thrive, if we lock ourselves in operating solitude. Although independence may be important at some level, we need connections with other people so as to maintain our stress levels. It is necessary to have people of whom you can share your personal experiences and listen to theirs as you give one another encouragement, motivation or even caution. Research shows that social life activity and memory decline are indirectly proportional. This is to say that the memory capacity of people with active social lives declines at a much slower rate than those of the more independent individuals. There is a special correlation between socialization and memory. This is the fact that the more you socialize, the more you hear, see or receive, which you must commit to memory. In this sense, socialization is itself a mental workout practice with regards to memory sharpening and improvement. When you stay alone, you limit your experiences and as a result, limit your own memory, seeing as though the human memory largely operates on a use it or lose it criteria. Knowing this, it is advisable to keep close contact with friends, colleagues and other people, if only to improve your memory. Meditation. Meditation is a very healthy practice that helps to release the stress that a person may have brain imaging during meditation. Shows of the activity of the left prefrontal cortex is hyped during the process. This region of the brain is linked with feelings of joy and contentment. This implies that if you make meditation a habit, then you are bound to be happy and consented more than those who don't meditate, It is clear how this can help to relieve any stress that a person may have. Another advantage of meditation is that it increases the thickness of the cerebral cortex, another advantage of meditations that it increases the thickness of the cerebral cortex. This is the area of the brain that is associated with learning memory and concentration. It therefore goes without saying that the practice of meditation is good for both. Shorts and longs are memories. Additionally, the practice has been linked with an increase in connective ity between brain cells. It is clear from all these advantages of meditation that it is a good practice. The good thing about meditation is that anybody can do it. It can be learned very easily, provided someone has the right mindset and the will to try it. Meditation and focus. We find it difficult to remember many things as a result of a lack of focus as easy or straightforward is something maybe a lack of focus is an almost sure guarantee of forgetfulness. Research links regular meditation to the development of concentrated focus, regardless of what it is that you are doing. 6. Chapter 5 - Step 5: Check Your Diet: Chapter five. Step five. Check your diet. Just as important as the quality of fuel is toe a machine, the type of diet taken in is crucial to the well being of a person's body. In general, there are specific diets that enhance or diminish various bodily functions, and it is upon the individual to decide how they want to affect a particular function with what and how they eat. This is true even for brain functions such as critical thinking and memory. This section is aimed as a guide for those people who wish to enhance their memory capacity through proper dieting. Studies reveal that the eating shins of people have been on a downward spiral in terms of health since the 19 seventies. Not only have the rations increased close to threefold, but the compositions of meals have also gone from bad to worse. Nowadays, people are consuming more junk food than ever before. Also, the rate of unhealthy sugar consumption is spiraled out of control. Most people peg the importance of proper dieting, the weight watching while neglecting other equally importance, if not better reasons. Memory and other brain functions are examples of some of the good reasons for proper dieting that are often neglected. For example, a research that was conducted in 2013 revealed a close connection between the risk of developing dementia and the consumption of high amounts of sugar in the diet, which results in elevated levels of blood sugar. Although not directly quantifiable, the research showed that too much blood sugar caused a malfunctioning of the hippocampus region of the brain. Obese people were found to have significantly fewer amounts of cranial white matter, as opposed to those people of average or low weights. White matters associated with many brain functions, including memory, since it makes up a significant portion of the hippocampus. Given that the amount of white matter in the brain decreases with age, it goes to show that obese people are significantly more likely to develop memory complications as they grow old. Recommended diets for improved memory. Having established the importance of diets and memory, it is only fair to look into some of the foods that are recommended from memory sharpening and improvement. This section will provide a list of foods you should eat for brain nourishment, along with the reasons why vegetables, this is a very important source of nutrients for brain development. Vegetables, especially cruciferous ones such as cabbages and broccoli, are a source of isil. Thigh assign nights, which are necessary. Antioxidants in the brains reduced oxidative stress. Other sources include cauliflower, turnips and Kale's omega three fatty acids. D. H a. D. Costa Hickson. OIC acid is strongly linked with brain development in human beings, a common source of this precious nutrients fatty fish, which includes salmon, tuna, sardines or hearings. If you don't care much for fish, you can also acquire the set nutrients from seafood and algae. We'll make it. Three builds membranes around brain cells, therefore improving the structure of neurons. It also increases blood flow in the brain, therefore improving brain activities in general. So if you want to have a sharper mind in a clearer memory, have your healthy ration of omega three fatty acids regularly. Dark chocolate, the main nutrient contained. The dark chocolate is cocoa, which contains antioxidants. The specific type of antioxidant contain a dark chocolate's flavonoids. Research shows that the human brain is susceptible to decline into generation with old age . This decline is occasioned by oxidative stress and therefore the importance of the cocoa flavonoids, which are useful antioxidants. A 2008 study through brain imaging registered a significant spike in brain activity minutes after test subjects had ingested cocoa rich chocolate, an alternative source of antioxidants. Asbury's whole Grains Vitamin E is good for brain development. It has been linked with the prevention of neuron degeneration, an important source of this type of vitamins. His whole grains. They include foods such as oatmeal, brown rice, barley in whole grain bread, avocados. As an alternative, the eating food with a high concentration of unhealthy fats. Try eating avocados for change. Not only is it delicious, such as in guacamole, avocados are a source of healthy unsaturated fats that are crucial for brain development. Also, this food has been linked with lowering blood pressure, which improves people's cognitive skills. Eggs. Many people may be surprised to find eggs among the list of foods to eat to boost memory. This is because most articles written regarding this type of food are often cautionary. While it is sure that people needs a limit, their intake eggs are a crucial source of vitamins B six, B 12 and folic acid, all of which have been linked to the prevention of brain shrinkage. It is not rocket science to conclude that a shrunk bring constitutes a diminished memory capacity. Diets to avoid high calorie and saturated fats Meals rich in calories and saturated fats have been linked to increased risk of dementia besides impairing concentration of memory, meals to avoid here include red meat, whole milk, butter, cheeses, ice cream, among others. Sugary drinks avoid taking sugary drinks such a sodas. This is because they increase your chances of developing Type two diabetes, which is a significant predisposition to the development of Alzheimer's and dementia. Highly processed foods. These types of foods often have very high caloric, constant in very low nutrient value. They include sauces, instant noodles, sausages, sweets, etcetera. Such foods increase high blood pressure and have been linked to lowered cognitive skills. Alcohol. Excessive alcohol consumption is perhaps the most potent memory impairment practice that people often indulgent, whereas drinking small amounts of red wine with meals is considered healthy due to the antioxidants that contains many people, overdo it and end up messing their memories. If it is antioxidants you're after, it is better for you to find other, healthier sources, excessive alcohol abuse causes brain shrinkage, therefore limiting all other brain functions, including memory. Also, alcoholism has been linked to the deficiency of vitamin B one, which may lead the Korsakov syndrome, which is often characterized by memory loss and confusion. 7. Chapter 6 - Step 6: Memorization Techniques: Chapter six Step six Memorization techniques. There are two sides that every good memorization technique must fulfill in order to truly serve its intended purpose. The first site is about the learning process, whereas the second side concerns the retrieval process. Every good memorization technique needs to fulfill these two sides of it is to have any chance of success. Fulfilling one and neglecting the other is useless, since the two sides are co dependent of what use will be to you. If you can learn something new with ease, yet failed to remember it a few moments down the line, what was your purpose of learning it in the first place? How about if you boast an excellent memory yet find it extremely difficult to learn new things? Just what is your memory good for? Another thing that is important to note is that the mastery of the use of memorization techniques is not an on off switch. Rather, it is a skill that is home to over time. Therefore, the longer you used them, the better you become. In addition, more is always better when it comes to the use of these techniques. This is to say that The memorability of everything you learn is enhanced when you use more than one memorization technique to commit information to your memory. As you begin to learn the ropes of memorization, you will realize that you may struggle a lot at first. This should not be a deterrent, but rather something to motivate you to work even harder. At the start, you will need to actively engage your mind with every technique that you choose to use. As time goes by, you will begin to know them better, and you won't struggle so much. If you keep at it long enough, there will come a point when you don't even realize that you're applying them. At this point, you will have succeeded in enhancing your memory and even better, it will come as effortlessly as clockwork to you. People differ a great deal in this faras memories concerned. It is important to note at this point why the brain preferentially chooses to remember other pieces of information while neglecting others. The human brain is drawn to and retains better information that is colorful, vivid, wild, inspiring, extraordinary and funny. Among other qualities. You get the gist. You are more likely to forget something that is commonplace, ordinary or dull, as opposed to one that possesses at least one of the quality stated. It is, therefore, in your best interest of fashion, whatever it is that you want to remember and give it one or more of these memorable qualities. Useful memorization techniques. This section will look into specific memorization techniques that could be useful in fostering your memory. Go through them and try to find out which ones among them you have used before and which ones you're learning for the very first time. The goal here, of course, is to put them to practice as regularly as possible. Since this is where the secret of their success lies, the chances are that you must have come across or even use some of them at one point or another in your life but failed to appreciate or it's happened to their full potential. You can not remember something without first actively committing it to memory. In order to do this, you need to pay attention to whatever it is that you want to memorize. If you are studying for an exam, for instance, be sure to avoid unnecessary distractions while doing so all your attention must be focused on what you're reading so as to better embed the same into your memory. The process of encoding something into your mind requires a certain amount of concentration on your part if success is to be achieved. Take, for instance, that you are trying to memorize a friend's phone number. Since you have nowhere to write it down. You need to pay full attention when the number is being dictated to you to demonstrate just how detrimental lack of concentration can be in such a situation, assume a scenario where you miss a single digit of the phone number you wanted to memorize of what use will the rest of the digits be? It is for this reason that many people have formed the habit of repeating what they're told . Such repetition serves two purposes. The 1st 1 is that it helps the listener to avoid any unnecessary distractions. Read aloud when you read something for the purpose of memorizing it, it may be helpful to read it out aloud. Research by students from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, proved this by testing a group close to 100 students in the study, the participants were required to recall, as many announces possible from a list of 160 now owns. The students were divided into three groups, each of which varied in the way the denounce were introduced to them. The first group was acquired to read out The now is Allowed. The second group of participants was required to read the list of Noun silently, and the last group had denounced read to them, so they only had to listen. Which of the three groups do you think did best with regards to recalling most of what was in the initial list? The study established that irrespective of the number of experiments conducted, the group, which read the list out aloud, invariably had the highest power of recollection. This was followed by those who read the list silently, and finally, those who had the list of now owns read to them. These results served to show just how important recollection reading aloud can be. The reason for this is the combined effect on memory and coating that talking and hearing has on a person. It is more of a compound in effect. When you hear something it is encoded in your memory with respected a channel through which you receive it. The same goes for when you speak it out. Doing both therefore, means that the encoding of the same piece of information is done twice. Therefore, making it more memorable. In addition to this, reading has the same effect as repetition, as was mentioned in the previous section. This is that it reduces the effects of external distractions. When you read something out aloud, the attention that you paid any other thing that is going on to that moment of reading is diminished. Also, your thoughts are less likely to wonder off when you're speaking something out loud as opposed when you're reading it silently. This implies that you are bound to concentrate more on whatever it is that you're reading. Assign, meaning the things. It is a lot easier to remember things that make sense to you or have a particular meaning to you as opposed to those that don't, for instance, how many of you can remember what you wore last week on Tuesday, Given that it was just another day at work for you? What about what you wore to your prom? What's high. Did you have on for your first interview? What were you doing when the news of Trump's success in the last US elections broke out? What time did your spouse come home from work last Wednesday? Try to think of various answers to these questions as may apply to you. What do you notice? Assigning things. Two significant events. It is clear from this that people tend to remember things to surround events. There are significant to them. Obviously, the level of significance varies, since it is relative from one person to the other. For instance, a person who has been married and divorced a number of times may have problems were calling the details of the third wedding. Such details will not be lost for a first timer. It is obvious that not many things that we wish to remember will be attached to significant events in our lives. It is not every day that you get to go to prom or get married or any other big event. So the question remains just how to capitalize on this trick. While significant events that are personal to you may occur rarely, the truth is that the world is full of others, to which you may choose to attach whatever memories you wish to preserve. All you need to do is to identify one that best suits your situation, and it's hatched to ST to whatever it is that you wish to preserve in memory for future reference. For instance, if you want to recall a particular date when you did something, just look at major events that occurred during that day and settle for one to remember it by semantic encoding. Aside from connecting things, two significant events there is another way to make ordinary things more memorable. This is through the art of semantic coating. Semantic encoding refers to the use of logic and facts to enable once recall things better . Take, for instance, that you are window shopping in a big city, and you spot one with a number of items, which you wish to purchase sometime in the future. You would obviously want to remember the location of that particular outlet for convenience during your next visit. Some of the usual facts that you will look out for include the name and the location of the outlet. Will these facts be enough for you to remember the store by three months down the line. If you wish to make your memory of the store more efficient, try some semantic encoding. Look for some intriguing facts about it that will help you recall it easier at a later date , for instance, you may look into its past how it came to be set up. It's other branches, its owners. Any important facts about the store will be helpful. If information regarding this is not forthcoming. Consider its neighborhood. For instance, you may make a mental note of the sort shoes from Maggie's next to the iconic Museum of History. When you do this, the iconic museum building will help you remember where you have to pick up your shoes the next time the idea crosses your mind. Focus on understanding the basics. This may not seem like much in the way of advice, given it's very straightforward nature. After all, who would in there right since his jump right into the middle of something they have no understanding of? Well, it happens even to the best among us. Sometimes we find ourselves struggling to understand complex constructs or ideas after passing off the basics. It's too easy to waste time on. In many cases, neglecting the basics works, but only when you are well conversant about them. However, if you overlook others that you are not quite conversant with, you stand no chance of understanding the complex construct or idea that you are studying. The best way to study, therefore, is to begin with the basics as you move your way up the ladder of complexity. This approach is particularly good for your memory for two reasons. The first that it is always easier to remember something that is simple and straightforward , as opposed to one that is complex and intricate. Another reason is how information is stored in memory. In most cases, pieces of information that are related to each other are often stored together. This implies that understanding the basics will prove helpful in the retrieval of the more complex bits of information with which they're stored. So if you wish to remember anything better, if you are dealing with something that is complex, start with the basics and work your way up rehearse. Would you just learned repetition is one of the surest ways of making something stick in your mind in school one of the most common pieces of advice given to students is to revise their work. It is not enough to go through something once, however much you think you have understood it, you need to go through it over and over again in order to truly memorize it. There is an obvious advantage that comes with repetition as a means of memorizing something . This is the fact that retrieval of such information becomes so effortless. After a number of rehearsals, you won't even feel like you're trying in school. Did you ever prepare so well for a particular paper by going through revision material over and over again that you had the easiest of times in the exam room? If so, you must have realized that you didn't need all the time that was provided, since it seemed that all the answers were flowing straight from your fingertips. Rehearsal as a memorization technique is not just for students. For anything that you wish to remember in the future, make a point of going through it a number of times. If it is a speech you want to deliver tomorrow, the fact that you are the writer is not enough to pass off rehearsal of the same. You need to go over it repeatedly, and so you are convinced that you have everything that you need beforehand. Another advantage of rehearsing something well is that it boosted your confidence. While many may fail to see how confidence is tied to memory, it remains a crucial part of trying to recall something you memorized in the past. You may know something very well, but doubt yourself, so much is to fail to retrieve it from memory. Proper preparation through rehearsals is a proper way of avoiding such mishaps involves many senses as possible. More often than not, we perceive things using multiple senses at the same time. If you wish to improve your memory capacity, you ought to maximize the number of senses that you employ when you're capturing information from memory. At the very least, make full use of any of the five common senses that are at your disposal. For instance, if you are trying to harbor memories about a certain person, don't limit yourself to the visual aspect of perception. If you want to make that particular person exceptionally memorable, for instance, you may want to know other things about them, such as? How do they sound like when they talk? How did they smell like? And, if possible, how smooth is their skin texture? You realize that by so doing, you'll be adding on. So whatever you register visually from three other senses, namely, smell, touch and hearing. It is obvious that although you will perceive the same person, the difference Senses will be looking for different information. Therefore, each sense will capture a different perception about the person in question. This is very important because it translates to the fact that you will have a lot more to go by regarding the object of interest. It will therefore be a lot easier to retrieve information about the person in the future, since any piece of information captured will be relevant. Another reason why involving as many senses as possible is advantageous with regards to memory is that you never know the levels to which each one of them will be stimulated to inspire memorability. Take, for instance, that you were to rely solely on a person's looks and neglect any input from the other senses mentioned assume that the person smells exceptionally good or bad, so much so that the smell alone could dwarf whatever visual perceptions you have. You realize in this case that you will be missing out on potentially memorable information by shutting out another sense structure and organize yourself. Ever tried locating something in a disorganized your attic? How easy or hard was it? The same goes for memory. Just as it is difficult locating objects in a disorganized environment. It is very difficult for disorganized person to have reliable memory. In many cases, external disorganization in a person points to corresponding internal disorganization, including mental functions such as memory. How will you be able to recall a certain past date when you have no idea what today's data's? Therefore, the first step towards organizing your memory to improve efficiency is organizing yourself . Structuring and organizing yourself goes beyond the normal personal level that many people assume it concentrates on. It includes how you do your work, how you associate with others or how you study. Given that related information is stored together in memory to make the process a lot easier, you would want to handle related things at the same time. This approach is, so is to make information storage and retrieval in and from memory a lot easier. In addition to this, try to make connections to anything new that you learn with things that you already know. This is a crucial part of structuring that is very beneficial in helping you to remember anything. 8. Chapter 7 - Step 7: Mnemonic Devices: Chapter seven Step seven Pneumonic devices. Pneumonic devices refer to any learning methods that are used to help someone to become veteran information retention or retrieval in or from memory. These devices make use of the human brains affinity to simplification by encoding messages using various tactics that include but are not limited to, emphasis, repetition, musicality and vivid imagery. There are several pneumonic devices at our disposal, as will be shown in the following sections. However, this is not to say that the list is exhaustive by assuming this, you can not be further from the truth. The reality is that the list is endless and keeps on expanding constantly. As a matter of fact, if you have your personal system that helps you memorize things faster, chances are that you have your own demonic device. The ones that will be discussed in this section are only some of the most common ones, seeing as though it is impossible to come close to exhausting the complete list of these devices, go through the list and reflect back on your past experiences to see whether you have employed any of them before. You may not have known their names by then, But nonetheless, you use them with remarkable efficiency, essentially pneumonic devices air shortcuts to remembering things to association. For instance, if you need to commit to memory a long list of names, which you must recall in a certain order, what will you do? While others may be successful in cramming the list as it is, it is certainly not a very good way to memorize the names. This is because if you confuse or unsure about a single one of them, then the whole list is compromised. In such a situation, you will have to look for a shortcut towards remembering by associating the list with something that is more memorable. A good example be to use the initial letters of the names to come up with a song. The song in this case will be your pneumonic device and will be a lot more memorable than cramming the names themselves. Other will be left used to complete the initials now that she will have a dependable clue to go on photographic memory skills. We all have heard of or encountered people with the envious photographic memory. While it is true that others possess this rare and precious gift. The truth of the matter is that a great many of those we consider gifted in this manner are but experts of using pneumonic devices and other memorization techniques. I am saying this not to downplay the talents of such individuals, but to challenge you to begin your journey towards nurturing and developing your own photographic memory. This is because, more often than not, it is a learned to treat, as you will no doubt see for the next few sections of this chapter. Repeated use and development of memorization techniques in demonic devices will always get you closer to what's handing your goal of remembering anything you want to. The reason is that these techniques are the very definition of photographic memory skills. Pneumonic devices, examples explained, discuss next or some of the main pneumonic devices go through them, understand how they work and most of all, tried to apply them. Everything that belongs to the bathroom is out there and so on for our list when you think kitchen items such as bread, fish, tomatoes, cooking oil and utensils will come to mind. When you think of the living room, you'll remember the carpet batteries and socket for your TV. When you think bathroom, you think detergents, toilet paper, toothpaste, aspirin ends house. When you go to the bedroom, you will remember your wardrobe and therefore thinks shoes and socks, lotion and cologne. When you go to your home office, you will think of paperclips and staplers. It is clear that breaking down the list in such a manner will make it a lot easier to recall after you have assigned items of your list to their appropriate memory palaces. All that will be left for you to do is to take a mental tour of your apartment Once you reach them all and you will remember everything from this example, you may find that you have used this technique in the past without knowing an example is when you're shopping and you find yourself trying to remember what else you might have for gotten. A common sentence that is used for this is Richard of York gave battle in vain notice how the first letters of our nuisance correspond to the initial letters of the colors we wanted to memorize. Another common example of sentence across tick is one used to memorize the planets of the solar system. Like before, make a list of the planets in the order which you want to remember them. We will first using across it for planets in order from the closest to the farthest from the sun. Then in order from the largest to the smallest, we will even give one where the planets are arranged. In no particular order. The list for a first example is Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Puto. This is not a science course. So bear with me for the inclusion of Pluto's one across that you can use to remember. This list is my very educated mother just showed us nine planets. The fact that the word has no meaning at all does not mean that it cannot help you remember the colors of the rainbow. Note that if the word formed is not pronounceable, you have the liberty to pick more than one letter from anywhere to make it so.
