1. Welcome to the course!: hello and welcome to this course how to create and promote a skill bear course in 24 hours . Many of you may be thinking, Why? Why should I be involved in online teaching and learning? And this course is not only going to answer that question but teach you the how how to create a course and promote it in 24 hours. If you have ever heard the phrase, the best time to plant a tree is yesterday, and the second best time is today than the online learning industry is that tree. In 2015 online learning was poised to make 107 billion U. S. Dollars according to faults. And based on that, a lot of organizations and companies are beginning to move their teaching and learning online Companies like you, Timmy and Skill share are creating opportunities for instructors to earn millions of diners here. The top 10 instructors in 2016 have earned $1.6 million. This is slightly less than skill share, where the average instructors earning 3.5 $1000 player in the top 10 are earning $30,000 per year. Now what that means is that every day people are beginning to see the value of their knowledge. And there's a company called Skill Bert, which is based in Asia, that is poised to make a massive impact in the online teaching market. Skill Bay is based in Asia. As you know, Asia is one of the most upcoming regions of the world in terms of online learning. And so a lot of courses have been made about how to create a skill share course how to create a you Timmy course. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the first course that will teach you how not only to create a skill bear course, but how to promote and sell it and be part of this global change. Let's talk about what will be going over in. This course will begin by talking about myself, who I am and my experience that I bring to this particular course. Then we'll talk about our learning objectives, what I hope that you will know and be able to do. By the end of this course, I'll answer some questions you might have before getting into the meat of our course. I'll be talking about the basics of skill bear. Then we'll be talking about the idea phase, how to brainstorm and pick some key ideas that you can use to actually create your course on. Then I'll assist you in the production off, creating your course, uploading and pricing it, marketing it, and then we'll wrap up. I'm so excited to be learning with you in this course, I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Dr Warren Leslie Chocolate have taught thousands of students online and university settings and face to face settings, and I've recently delved into the online informal market, if you will. I produced five courses in two months, and I've used my experience in curriculum and instruction. I have my PhD from Texas A and M University to develop a system off, creating not only creating but marketing online courses. I believe that this is where education is going, and I want to be part of that. However, it doesn't mean that you have to have a PhD to teach online. I'm just going to be sharing with you some of the best practices to moving from idea creation to your course to the market. When we talk about our learning objectives were asking two critical questions. What will you be able to do and what will you know? By the end of this course, By the end of this course, you will know how to brainstorm your course, where to get ideas and where to draw on your own expertise, as well as other areas that we're going to explore to get some ideas for your course. We're then gonna teach you how to create the slides. I'm going to be talking you through a process that we use to create very, very eye catching slides. And then we'll be talking about hardware and software to record your court. Your courses, some of it will be free and serve it will be paid. Are then be talking to you about uploading to skill there and finally marketing your course . These are some of the key things you will know and do. By the end of this course, I hope to answer some questions you might have before we get started. Who should be taking this course? Anyone who is interested in both creating and promoting a skill bear course is ideally placed to take this course. It's different from other courses in that I'll be focusing specifically on skill. Bear the platform and talking about some of the unique strategies we can use to both create courses and promote them on skill. Bert, if you'd like to interact with me as your instructor, if you have any questions, please feel free to post them in the forum. Our students learn a lot from each other on, and I hope that we can share our learning in this course in a learning community. And finally, ratings are really important to instructors and students, so I would really value if you could rate this course out of five. You will notice that at the end of this course you'll see five stars at the top, and I really ask that if you can and if you are able to please give me a rating for this course so that I could build, and if you feel that I have not lived up to your expectations, please reach out to me on Skill Bay and I'll be happy to improve my practice. Based on your suggestions, I'm looking forward to this course. I hope you up 2. Brainstorm your course idea: when thinking about your course idea a key tool or practice to adopt is something called brainstorming. Now brainstorming is allowing yourself to get a bit creative and thinking deeply about the sort of topic you may choose to teach. Now, before we even talk about brainstorming, I have to address something that I often encounter from would be instructors, and that is a lack of confidence to actually teach something. They often ask. What do I know? Why should I be teaching? And my response to them is always that everyone always noticed something more than someone else. Although I have a PhD, there's so much that I learned on you, Timmy and other platforms such a skill bear that from everyday people, if you wish that increase the value off my educational experience that increase my skill sets. And so every person has something to offer, and I encourage you to go into this process with an open mind of creativity and a conviction that you can create something fantastic. I will be walking along with you and supporting you along the way, if that's any consolation. So brainstorming has some key questions. Okay, what am I passionate about what is something that gets me out of bed in the morning? What is something that someone else would like to learn about? I'm passionate about public administration policy. I'm passionate about program evaluation numbers. I'm also incredibly passionate about diversity and multiculturalism. And so these are the type of horses that I create and you'll notice that I'm not stuck in one particular genre or area. Of course, is I go with what I'm good at and I go with when I'm passionate about. I also asked myself the question, What would people like to know? What are some challenges that they may be facing that really helped them, that a course like mine could really help them address. Now, some people like to do what's called an idea generator, and I'm gonna give you a little trick to see some ideas going forward. If you're totally stuck and we're going to be using Amazon to help us, I'm here in Amazon and I've gone to the books department. This is something that I like to do when I'm thinking of a course topic, and one of the things I want to look at is what are the top selling books. And one of the ways I do that is, if I click on this book the seven most powerful praise that will change your life forever and I go down. One of the things I will find is the product details and, most importantly, the rank on Amazon. This book is ranked 2378 in the top 100 books. Okay? And so if I wanted to create a course on the specific issue, which is prayer, this might be a very, very successful course because it is selling so well on Amazon, right? So let's have a look at some other possibilities. So that's an idea that some people may grass. Okay, so we're trying to look. We look at the rainbow, comes and goes a mother and son of laughs. So how to deal with grief could be a course we could look at if you want. You can also look at categories. Okay, you will notice that my category is political science, so let's go there and see what comes up. All right, we see that one of the top selling courses is de cluttering and organizing. Maybe that's something that you may be interested in on looking at books that really help you achieve certain things. Okay, on as we go down, we need to think about Here's another one practical guide to personal freedom. OK, once again, I'll go in here if I'm interested in some of these topics and I go down and I see the kind of books that are similar to this book And look at the key thing. Here is the ranking of this book. If I'm able to really find books that are really high ranking, this is gonna come in huge, huge use later on when I help you actually given name to your course because of the search rankings and the S e O. And like so, a recap off this particular lecture is that you are often able to draw on some ideas both from your own passions but also, uh, from Amazon. What I'm going to be doing now is in in the book section, talking about course development, online course development, and that is where I'm going to be searching for some ideas in terms of what people are interested in. And that's how I know that of course I make is a course that people would be interested in , and possibly by 3. How to structure your course: when you thinking about your course structure, I want you to think about it in relation to your brain storming after I use a almost a flow diagram to help me navigate my thoughts. I put the man idea in the middle, and I think of three basic topics that I'd like to choose for my course. Now remember, I want you to think about your course as a Siri's off course is okay. So if you have a lot of information to teach, think about what the most basic information is. You put that in a basic course, and then as you progress with the information, you put that in other courses on and think about your courses as packages. All right, so I'm just talking about one course the course you're you're going to make now. And what I like to do is think about three main topics that surround my course. So, for example, my topic is to create a skill big course. The first thing I'm going to choose to talk to you about Topic one is brainstorming the second thing. I'm going to talk about his course creation and production, and the third thing I'm going to talk about his marketing. So my section, these topics then becomes sections in my course. So I have the introduction. Then I have Topic one topic to Topic three, and then my conclusion, and those are the section section headings that make up my course. I hope that's being helpful, and I hope this gives you an opportunity to think about how you structure your course. 4. Give your course a title: given your course a title is one of the most important pieces of course production. They are two things to consider when creating a course title. The first thing is that there must be a direct benefit in the title to you from taking your course. And secondly, there must be a link between the content of your course on the title, for example, how to create online courses and make money in this title. Your notice how to. So there's a direct benefit to this. It's telling you something. How to create online courses. There we go. That's the content of the course, and then the benefit Make money. Now, I didn't just pluck these were these search terms of these words out of thin A. I used a systematic process that I'm going to shade with you to choose these particular words to make them s e o search engine optimum ability to maximize the CEO. And that's the process. I'm going to show you in the next piece of this lecture. We are once again back to Amazon. Amazon is one of the most powerful tools that anyone creating a course can you use to determine the search engine. Optimum ability. They are multiple other tools that you can use, but I want to make it simple. And look at Amazon. Prime is AdWords in Google and there are other tools. But I'm gonna talk you through this because it made more sense to me. All right, so I am interested in selling online classes. And so I go in to Amazon and look at the words that people use Notice that the words making money online are critical words that you can use masters of sales. These are titles that you can use and tweak slightly that will help you when you're choosing your title. Noticed the how to sell How to start, how to sell your craft online. A step by step guide How to stop the machine embroidery business online These are titles that you can use and tweak slightly for your purpose. All right. And I noticed that the formula is the same. How to double your fiver income selling on Etsy. Each of these have the purpose as well as the course content in the particular title. Okay. And what I recommend you do is you find the best seller and link your course title to the title of the best seller. So when people are searching for that particular item on Amazon, your item will come up in the search engine. And that is the way one of the methods you can use to improve the location or the visibility if you will argue a particular course. 5. Use a headline analyzer: I recently came across a fantastic tool to help me craft my titles, former classes, and it's called co schedule. So I want you to see the top your co schedule dot com Ford slash headline Analyzer. And what this is is a tool that you can use to help you decide the wording of your particular course. And I'm going to show you the headline history that I've been looking at. I mean, trying to decide whether to call my course, how to build a balanced scorecard using Excel or how to build a balanced scorecard from scratch using Excel. Right? So the idea of my courses to actually start off with a plane Excel document and transform it. So I thought of using the word from scratch to give the student the potential student the idea off what we're doing. But using this tool has helped me make the decision. Okay? And I'm going to talk to you a little bit about that. So let's say we started off with my original heading in your notice that it's how to build a balanced scorecard from scratch using Excel, right, I clicked, analyzed now and what this tool gives me is a set off tools to help me think about my particular title. So I get a headline score of 63 right, which is a B plus. And what it's telling me is that I have essentially used some common words. Okay, Andi, mine is a bit lower remembered. Supposed to be between 20 and 30% of the common words, right? I only have 10% I am using. Some uncommon words are not in my heading, but I should have 10 to 20% of uncommon words. I'm using emotional ways, right? And so I think I'm good on this. I think I'm good on this and power. I think that I need some more power. And I can use the tips to help me craft my heading further. But let's have a look. Some common words I'm using how, and two and a right I need to increase the number of uncommon words in my particular title . I'm using how to which is a best practice. And I need to think about some power words. Okay, So your headline type is ah, how to. So that's a good thing. All right. And the character Countess 59. They say that the ideal length is 55 characters. And so my title is a bit wordy. Okay. Finally. This is how it will come up in the Google search when email subject line. Okay, so these are the critical things that I need to think about. I need to think about how to build and using Excel, right? The 1st 3 in the last three. I need to contract this a little bit. And my headline shows a neutral sentiment. Okay. And there, const raise positive or strong. Negative emotions tend to perform better. So minus neutral right now. And so I get a headline score off 63%. What I'm gonna do now is show you what happens when I take out from scratch and just use from Excel, right? How to build a balanced scorecard using Excel immediately. My headline scores higher. I get 68%. I get more in terms of my common words. I should be between 20 and 30%. My emotional score has increased and I need to work on my uncommon and power right. I am using heart too, Which is good. Andi, I'm within the 45 characters and my headline is the right length. So I've got a good land. I just didn't figure out the wording now, and it will look great in a Google search as well as a email subject line. I need to think about how that's gonna look over there, and so what I have here is a really good solid line title, which is good. We don't want the title to run on into the next line, however, it's still a mutual title. And so the key word there people researching for is a scorecard. So I need to think about how I can emphasize the scorecard, peace and possibly move this headline to a 70. So what I'll be doing is playing around with a few more headlines and figuring out reading the particular instructions and figuring out how I can increase the search ability of my headline on Do some. Choose some key words that will help me become more visible on the Google CEO. The search engine optimum bility 6. How to record video: you've brainstormed some ideas you've then created your basic power points using the three point system, the introduction, the body and the conclusion. You've also perhaps included some beautiful visuals from Flicka, and now you're ready to record your videos. In other words, taking your power points from Paul planes to instructional videos. Now there are a variety of software that you can use to record your power points and record your screen, and I'm going to be introducing you to some of those and talking about the pros and cons of each. My favorite screen recording software is screen cast O Matic. You can record up to 15 minutes for free, and you can include a Web can. Sometimes people are afraid to put themselves on the screen. That is turkey. Okay, you're welcome to just have a screen recording without a webcam. However, screen costs does allow you to put the webcam or just have your screen. Secondly, it allows you up to 15 minutes for free. However, if you would like to not have the water market the bottom of your video and be able to edit , you pay $15 for the year and you're able to use unlimited amount of time for your screen cast romantic videos. A second popular process or product Should I say, is Camp Tasia Kemp. Tasia is a very, very powerful editing tool, and it will allow you to incorporate Webcams, import footage and edit audio and video separately. Okay, and this is at tech smith dot com. When you get started. One of the key things that you will face is how much money to invest in recording and particularly microphones. Now that I've just started. I found that, um, screen cast dramatics and my in built microphone are working fine. However, as I begin to earn more and more money and it becomes more and more profitable for me, I'm going to be investing in a microphone, and I want to talk to you through some of the microphones that you can use to improve the quality off your particular production. Okay, and these air sermon amazon dot com that are really quite powerful and very useful. I know, for example, that many, many, many of iron structures are using the Frisbee standalone, magnified Andi. They're also using the E very high speed microphone. What these are being able to do is give them the freedom toe actually, not only record very clearly, but also do pod costs and things like that to promote their particular courses. To recap what we learned in this particular lecture, I spoke to you about moving from course creation to course production. I also introduced you to to software's namely screen cast O Matic, Andi Am Camped Asia that will assist you in producing your particular course and recording your screens. Then I spoke to you about microphones on amazon dot com to help you increase the quality of your production. In the next lecture, I'll be walking you through a demo in terms of how I actually go about recording my particular lectures. 7. Create your slides: we have our idea, and now we're going to begin by creating our slides. I want to start by looking at the design of your particular slides, and I'm going to be talking through some aspects that you need to consider. The first thing is whether you want to use a design from PowerPoint itself, and this is how you go about collecting that design. You go to your power point, you look at your design and you can go through an array off different designs. Another powerful way off getting free PowerPoint templates is to actually grew, but it and two sites that I really like to use his brain Betty and f p p t dot com And as you go through these, you'll find some incredibly visually stimulating slides and PowerPoint templates that really can engage your students in learning. Once you've selected them, you can download and then begin to upload your content if you need pictures. A powerful thing that can be used is Flicka flicka dot com is a very, very powerful mechanism that you can use, and I'm going to give you an example of how to go about using it. Let's say you were doing a PowerPoint or a course on dogs. All right, We have a variety of dogs. However, not all of these pictures can be used for free. So you have to use commercial use allowed once you click that all images that come up are allowed to be used for free. And we're going to choose one of these images to be used for our particular course. All right, this one looks like a fantastic image. I look at the image, I go down, and I need to see some rights reserved. I need to have a look. What? What rights Reserved in this particular I'm free to copy and redistribute the material remix and transform for any purpose, even commercially, the licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms. So what that means is that I can go here on this button right over here. Andi, download this particular picture and put it in to my slides. That way I'm creating an engaging experience for my students and flick. It provides a wonderful platform for this 8. How to design your slides around a script: I cannot claim credit for the script and lecture outline template, but I think it is a valuable tool to both. Create your lecture slides and write the script for your lectures. This particular lecture is going to explain to you how to go about thinking about the formula off your particular slide of the structure of your slide. Your lectures need to have three main components. One. They need to have an introduction. Two. They need to have a body and three, they need to have a conclusion, and those having those three forms in your lectures will create a powerful system. Matic. Experience your introduction in your lessons. Need to have a hook. It needs to gauge people's interests. It needs to have a 1 to 2 sentence. Overview off what the students will learn in the specific lecture. You will notice that I said. What you will learn in this lecture is the three components that are needed to both design your power points and deliver your power points. By the end of this lecture, you will know both of those skills, and it is very important to always and your introduction by saying by the end of this lecture, you will know or do this a very important thing for you to do because that Segways into your body. So if, for example, by the end of this lecture, you will know and be able to apply, the concepts are the lecture format. The key things you Bill you will learn in this course is 12 and three. Those are the critical ways to deliver the body. People can only take in three pieces of information in any one time. So what you got to do is break it up into three key components. All right, notice that this lectures about the introduction, the body and the conclusion. Those are my three key points that I'm teaching you in the specific lecture. Okay, You need to think about it in the same way. What are the three main points that people need to learn in that specific 2.5 to 10 minutes and then you need to wrap it up. You told him in the beginning what they were gonna learn. You taught it to them. And now you have to wrap it up and applying the key points and finally end with a teaser to get them to want to learn your next lecture. Okay, now here's an example. Someone created a hook rites, and they used the term biggest pet p right or saves time during editing something that engages someone's interests. And then what they did was they created an overview, which is they wanted to create a template for instructional devices. By the end of this course, you effortlessly turn it a Morpheus concept into a structured and elusive elucidating thing of educational beauty. All right, so this is an example. Okay, now remember, I can't take credit for this tool. I'm just sharing it with you, and I think it's fantastic. The next thing is, you'll notice that this person said their main point was to introduce the template. The second thing was to introduce instructional devices, which I will talk to you in a moment of art. And the third thing was to talk about the pitfalls checklist that often people use one of the pitfalls that they used that they don't use a three point strategy. They just go in and not plan their particular lectures. Then the recap all. The conclusion is that they've talked about the template. They've talked about the pitfalls checklist and they talked about The resource is in the next lecture will be talking about handling the fine script in the recording room. So notice that the teaser is introducing you to the next lecture, and this is an example of going through this three step process. 9. Use an "If Then" Instruction Chart: I cannot take credit for this fantastic tool, but I want to share it with you. It's cold. The if then instructional devices chart, and what it is in a natural is tools you can use as an instructor to explain your concepts more clearly. The first part of this particular tool is the analogy when instructors connect new concepts to already understood experiences, and that helps make the concept clearer. I don't if you've ever had someone that explains something to you in such a way that totally makes you have that are har moment. That is what sometimes an analogy were really life example can help you do. As an instructor, you need to connect to the students live experience, sometimes through your own life experience. It's also helpful is when courses or lectures create walk throughs, which is what this is experience. Or this course is about. We're moving from brainstorming in other words, the idea to the production of your course to the marketing of your course, and it's a walk through process now and then. I don't know if anyone has ever sat in a course or class or remembers that their experience of learning with a boring instructor. You is the instructor. Need to counter that and be energetic. Be humorous and keep people engaged in your course. And one of the ways to do that is to make sure that your slides are very simple power points. There's a phrase called Death by PowerPoint, and that means that people put too much information on the slides. What you need to do is keep it short, keep it simple, keep it to the point and often use pictures rather then slide points or information. Don't put a lot of information on your sleight to keep it short and keep it simple and sometimes repeat and rephrase what you have said to really connect with your audience. Some common mistakes that teachers and instructors often make is that they don't always talk about some of the mis understandings that are related to the concept. So that's a very powerful way of talking about a course. For example, one of the misunderstandings that people have when we talk about online landing is that they feel that it's a get rich quick scheme. In other words, that put a course on there and then within days they're going to millionaires? No, when you produce quality course is, one of the things you will find is that it takes a while to gain some traction. And it's a long term investment rather than a short term investment, and this is some of the ways in which we clear up some misunderstandings. 10. Demo Lecture Recording: I will be talking you through the process I go through. When recording my lectures, you will notice on the left of your screen that screen cost dramatic has various options and that I have chosen not to record my webcam. I also have chosen not to record computer audio and that I just have my narration recorded . When you are according your particular classes, you can change these preferences by clicking these buttons. My first step is to open up my power point. You'll notice this is a different class that I have created. And I go to scream cast dramatic. All right. You will notice that when I click it, it'll likely tell me that the recorder is already recording. Okay, because you seeing this lecture. Okay, so I close this up, I minimize it. And the first step I always like to do is I go into my PowerPoint slide, all right? And I record my lecture as I'm doing right now, and when I make a mistake, I don't I don't stop and begin all over again. What I do is I pause and then I say he raise and then I continue with my lecture and following the lecture. I then go into the editing and look at the spikes in my particular audio. And what that helps me do is edit out where I made mistakes and sometimes begin to put things together. And that's really, really helpful to maintain the momentum. The key thing about making a course quickly, efficiently and with quality is to not get caught up with simple mistakes, but to develop a system that allows you to go back and edit out those systems. Okay, edit out those mistakes. Excuse me, a critical thing as well as when you're going through a lecture to ensure that you only have 3 to 4 at the most six lights per course and to include animation. You'll notice, for example, that as I'm going through my power point, I'm actually working through my course and making my PowerPoint, sometimes at the same time whereby I'm adding things. I'm taking things out as I'm beginning to craft my particular lectures, And what that means is that through this dynamic process of editing and perfecting, you are moving. You're creating the airplane while you're in the air rather than building the complete thing, and that is the key to getting moving and getting through course production quickly, efficiently and with quality 11. How to Upload to SkillBear: we've brainstormed our course idea, and we think we're onto something. Now we have to begin to navigate the skill, be it platform to start setting up the infrastructure toe, upload and work without cost. So the first thing you have to do is to go to www dot skill bear dot com. It'll take you to this Web page. You'll remember if you interested to go down and navigate the front page, where it talks about online learning, online teaching and answers a few questions about how this process works. It also has some courses that are already uploaded. What I encourage you to do firstly, is to sign up. I'm already in the Skill Bay sites. Are we signing in rather than signing up? Okay, then once you got to do is once this thing, loads will be going to create your own course. Now skill there. You'll see over here, it says, Start a course. If you would like feel free to go through the specific, uh, column to look at some off the courses that are already offered. I want to talk you through starting. Of course, we're gonna click your start, of course, and I'm gonna talk you through some of the key elements that you will need on the left hand side, you have five key things that you have to do. In order to get approved in the skill based system, you have to create a course by starting to build the course title. All right, so we'll call this test will choose a course category. All right. There's a loads of categories in here. For the sake of this course, I'm going to say academics. All right, What is the language of this course? You can offer this course in multiple languages. I will be choosing English for my course. Okay. And then we'll choose to upload a file. So I'm gonna choose skill back, and I'll set that as my course image. And this I will call this course at test. All right. Just for the sake off to show you the process. The cost description going to say how to skill bay. Of course. All right. It asked me some objectives. I'll be talking you through how we actually go about these objectives and what we have to say in there. And then where to from here? Yeah, I say how to learn and online. Okay, we create the course, and yes, you. This will create a new course on the side. Yes, we want to do that. Okay, Now it says the course settings. We go to add a new form. It means the students will be able to talk and communicate with one another in this particular course that you have any instructions. So if you have a attachment for them to upload, this would be the place to put it. So in this case, I don't have anything just yet. You can choose advanced all levels, beginner or intermediate. Okay, I'm going to choose all levels. I'm going to save these settings. We now have the course curriculum. Okay. And this is a mixture off the sections and units for the sections. We can say section one. All right. And then underneath each section, we have units. I'm going to call this introduction. What you then have to do is press publish. You'll notice that this is now published within go edit unit. And then it will take us to add media or our description of attachments. I'm going to add media here, and you can either upload files. Or you can have files already uploaded video files or you're bloated. So let's say I'm going to upload my score. My introduction right over here. Okay. There, Erica. Um, insert that into the post and it will begin to load. All right? They re gut is our costs. Now, I will say that the description is this is an introduction lecture to excuse me. Lecture to skill. Course care. I will then either choose to make this unit free or not. And I know that this unit is one minute and 24 seconds. I didn't save this, and I saved the curriculum. Okay, so go about and continue doing this until my courses complete. When I'm done, I'll safe this course, and then it will ask me for pricing. You can either make your course free or not, and you can set your product price. And once you said your product price, you can then submit your course for review. So I recommend $10 or $20 for every hour of content. And that's just a general rule in the online teaching world. 10 to $15 per hour is a reasonable amount. Some are between 15 to 25. It just depends on you and the level of your course. But this is how you operate a navigate the skill bay course upload system. 12. Course Description Rationale: When you are uploading your skill bay course, you'll be asked to create a course description. And that is what this lecture will talk you through for my skill. Because master public policy analysis advanced, I want to talk you through the rationale behind each one off the pieces that make up my description. The first thing is that I've separated these into various sections, and my first piece on this course description is what the course is about. And the benefits that this course bring So mastered the skills that policy analysts notice . I'm reaching out to a specific audience, and I'm using some terms that this audience uses, such as evaluation and public problems. And then I'm also talking to a different audience who may be interested in basic concepts, tools and techniques in this easily accessible course. So someone looking at my description notice, and when they're looking at my course, this is the first thing that they will see, and this is an eye catching text, and it's not a block of text. I then talk about a blurb about what problem this course actually addresses. Okay, so governments operating complex environments of the increased demands and resource is, and then policy analysts are called on to make decisions. And then who am I? A scholar of public policy. And then I've developed a system that makes the complex simple, the methods accessible and the process record replicable. And now I want to share this course with you. Someone saying Wow. Okay, what do I get in this course? You talk about the number of lectures, the number of hours you talk about templates that you may provide. Project based learning is very important to include. And then you talk about some stats that make sure that you're program will, giving yourself some sort of credibility to the potential person. So I'm talking about the employment opportunities and money opportunities that someone might get based on taking my course. I talk about governments, not profits. These are spaces that may be interested in taking my course. And then I talk about some free resource is that I provide. And finally, I emphasize the free preview lectures that I like give, um, that allow people to have a taste off my course, sort of like a free sample. All right? And I talk about some basic elements that I include in my my particular course, and then finally, if people are interested, I really outlined some of the objectives that they may be interested in learning about, okay? And then were asked me where to From here. That's where I sort of give the main critical benefit off this particular course. All right? And as you will notice, I have some free courses that I have a blind. My introduction section is always free, but then when they want to get into my actual cause, that's when I charge OK, And I always try and keep what will people learn in the section free so that people can actually access that? Okay. And kind of get a taste of what each piece is above, right? And these that this is an example off what my course looks like and the rationale behind my course description 13. Techniques to market your course: in this lecture, I'll be talking to you about how to market your skill, be it course once it's been approved and once you're ready to get it out there and I'll be talking about two key methods first, social Media and secondly, your email list. Once you have created your course, you will need to get the link to advertise it. And you do that by going to the dashboard, which you can do by clicking on your profile and then clicking Dashboard. The dashboard is critical in Skill Bay because it introduces you to the various statistics in an urban view format. I go to my courses published. I published three courses, and I will then have a list of all the courses that I've published and the number of students you're motors that because I've just published these courses. I don't have any students just yet, but that's because it's brand brand new right off, right over the island, so to speak. I click on the link for my particular course, and you will see the link right up here. Now, this is the link that I'm going to be publishing on these various platforms. The 1st 1 I'm going to introduce you to his Facebook. So I like to go to Facebook and I say, advertise your business here for free or make money advertising. So I'm going to go to one of these groups and become a member of this creep, all right, and published on these groups. I've lacked this group already, but I will go through and all right, I have a tag line and then I put in the link and you will notice that we have to choose our images, okay? And I'm going to choose this image to be my link. And once I pressed Enter, you can see my course on and it's on the website and someone can click on it and go to my course in skill There. There we go and they'll be able to read through. And if they would like to take it, they can take my court. So that's how I like to do it on Facebook. Also, I'm going to create a Facebook group in partnership with skill beer. We've set up a Facebook group, Skill Beer course promotions, and in this group you'll notice we have a few instructors who have joined us on, and this group is growing rapidly. What it is is a space in which instructors can promote their courses and reach out to other instructors. In a community, you will notice that I've already begun to post uh, my skill based courses and the audience is absolutely huge. That is the goal when you use Facebook to figure out who your marketers and how you can access your market using these social media tools. This skill big group is a fantastic resource for all skill bear instructors to not only post their courses but to ask questions about course, production and recording, as well as invites students to be a part of this group so they can get discounted cost coupons. As skill beard grows, this will be something that they begin to do where we will be able to offer our students both discounted courses and free course is not the place that I like to advertise. My courses on. Another platform called you Jimmy is on YouTube and you'll notice that I have uploaded all my free lectures into one lecture and I put them on YouTube and I also in the within the video and within the course description. I've included a link to the video right and a bit of information about it and provided a coupon. And I've also spoken about my video channel, my blogged my you, Jimmy Page and my Lincoln Page. I'm going to create this for my skill bay page as well, and that is really, really helpful when we're talking about social media, YouTube, instagram, Facebook and Twitter. These are fundamental, uh, weapons in your arsenal. Re off marketing. A second, powerful, powerful tool in marketing is the email list. What I like to do is think about it in terms of building what's called a final, where as soon as we get people in your one course, you create a second course, and then you market to the first course for those people to buy your second cause at a discounted rate, and that is a very, very powerful tool to build your income. If you just leave your course on skill be, it's unlikely to get the traction that is needed. However, what I found very, very fascinating is that a key thing in teaching online is that the money is in the list. The bigger your list of people, the more people you are able to market your courses to and ultimately make sales on, and not just a rely on Skill Bay or your social media platforms, but use a variety of methods and tools to market you, of course. So in summation, we have social media with Facebook. We have these different groups YouTube, where we can upload our free content and then go in and actually provide coupons in the course description very critical and at the same time, edit to YouTube videos to advertise your skill bear page. You can also use Twitter and Hashtags to create awareness around your particular course, and then once people are in your first course, when you create a second course, you send out an email to them with a coupon code with a discount, thanking them for being in your course and advertising your next course. If you do that often enough, you'll begin to develop a massive, massive following and ultimately create the revenue that you desire 14. Thank you for Taking The Course: thank you for taking this course. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to share with you a little bit of what I've learned . And I hope that you've gained some basic insight into how to create on market your skill bear course.
