The Top 3 Reasons for Creating a Course: In addition to the reasons why you want to create this course you have in minds, let me run you through the top three benefits you will gain from creating your very own course. These are but a few off the many topics we will come to touch on here in this part off the course. The how parts. Before we dig into all that, let me first share with you treat golden ingredients that I have used for all my courses that are essential to know when you want to create a course off quality value and one that will stand out from the crowds. If you have never created a course before, it can be tricky and confusing to get started in building and structuring a course. However, there is a common saying that goes, You do not need to reinvent the wheel, which implies make smart use of a system dual structure, etcetera that has already been invented, and give them your own twists. An excellent way to get started in building and structuring your course is by following someone else. Course on a closely related topic. Likewise, with my productivity course some off the illustrations in the productivity courses I followed were not well done and sometimes unclear. So I fixed these and made it very clear in mine. In the courses I followed that were related to my course on how to live a happy life. Many of them had no actual practical exercises or clear guidelines for course takers to follow. To start changing their life I fixed is by adding practical exercises to my course. When watching the two courses on a topic you want to teach, ask yourself, What don't I like about this? What frustrates me when I watched this course or what do I feel is missing here? In this course, this is valuable information you need to write down so that again you can fix this in your course. In addition, you could take it one step further and read the feedback from the reviews off. Other students who took those courses You are following see what they would have liked to change in the course. Used that information to solve those complaints in your course and do not make the same mistakes. Finally, the last ingredient that should not be missing where you want to create a best selling course is that you should bring something unique. Now. For example, in my beginner course on photography titled The Ultimate Photography Course for Beginners, I created lessons on the philosophy off photography. These are lessons about the things that photography has stopped me in life. This immediately set my photography course apart from literally thousands off other photography courses s. I introduce something unique and different that show my personality and brought a new and unique and value to my course that no other photography course had offered. If you are creating a course in a high demand niche that already has many courses out there like photography, it is essential that you bring something different to the table. Another example. I convention relating to my productivity course is that while thousands off these courses already exists, I made mine different and unique by including gorgeous animations throughout the whole course with my course how to live a happy Life I created together with a professional illustrator, a practice book off high quality with some valuable exercises. There are really many ways to set your course apart while watching the two courses related to the topic. You want the teach of surf and think about what you can bring to the table that is different from these courses. How can you set your course apart from the rest? Introduce these tree basic ingredients in your course and in any future courses you creates , and I can promise you you'll increase the likelihood off, creating a best selling course, one with great value and high quality that your students can enjoy. Talking Head Shots: in this lesson, we are going to talk about the different styles Yuki used to create a course there are more than you might realize. The first and most obvious way to create a courses through talking head shots s you can see me doing right now. This is the most commonly used methods in most courses s It also works the best. Creating a connection happens much easier through talking head shots compared to slide shows. For example, I think you feel far more connected right now, seeing me talk to you, right, If we switch to an illustration or slide show, the connection is less. I'm not saying there isn't a connection s. You can still hear my voice, but you can certainly feel a different kind of connection, one which is much weaker. You've probably heard the old expression. The eyes are the window to the soul. While that may not literally be true, they do reveal a great deal about what we're thinking and feeling from moment to moment. It certainly helps to communicate what you're teaching to your students when they can see you and look you in the ice, especially when talking about something personal or something more emotional your students . Being able to look you in the ice really helps to communicate not only works but also feelings, obviously, as we soon will come to learn, because there are different styles to use in your course. Each one also allows a different way to explain and teach. Something is therefore important to learn each one and to choose which style will work the best for your course and the current listen so you can explain the subject in the best possible way through your students. Now let me provide three easy but essential guidelines to keep in mind when using belting headshots in your course. First, make sure you set the camera, and I level placing the camera. Two. Hi. It looks rather strange as thus placing it too low. Therefore, keep your camera at eye level. Now this is easily measured by how your head is stilted. If your head is going up, it's too high. In the beginning, however, try to imagine the lens off your camera being the eyes off your students give busy minds, and it might help to maintain that I contacts as well. When used sulking headshots put the camera on eye level don't look away and give yourself proper headroom, and you are sure to connect with your students rightly and come over as an instructor who knows what he or she is doing. 6. 2. Illustrations/Images/Slide Show with Voice over: the next style of creating a course is true. Using slide shows or illustrations would voice over. This is the most effortless style to apply in the course as you need the least amount of equipments. While you certainly can create the whole course using slide shows and illustrations with voiceover alone, it can quickly become quite dull. If you don't do this right, you're not alone. Need to be engaging with your voice, but also in the slide shows and illustrations you use. Let me provide you with a couple off tips on using slide shows and illustrations. You can make your illustrations or slide shows mawr informative and entertaining as something is happening. By adding text to highlight something you set, it's important to keep it simple. Too much text while you are also talking can be overwhelming and somewhat distracting in general, just include the keyword or a keyword phrase. I'm not saying you can't at more than just a key words, but keep it simple in my course house. Live a happy life. I wrote in multiple listens when I was using illustrations, a short piece out of the dicks that I was saying at that current moment Nothing too long. But it helped to give the attention as something new is happening, and it brings forward a lesson and its message more strongly. The student doesn't alone here the works, but also reads them while I'm showing this. Here is not a tip. When inserting text in your illustrations or slide shows, be sure to make the text easy to read. Make it big and bolts and nuts too small. Also use a clean and easy to read fun type s you can see here, even though using illustrations are the easiest style to use your course. Don't be lazy eater. Don't use the same slide or illustration for a complete listen or for a long stretch of time without doing something different. It's extremely boring. Bring variety and use different slide shows and illustrations occasionally throughout the lesson. Let me show you a short example of a beast for my course. How to live a happy life where I use the same slight for an entire beast. If your questions remain narrow, so will your conversations. Try it to construct your questions using the following wards. Who, what, where, when, why and how. If you ask a question using one of them, you create an open ended question instead of a close one. Open ended questions are questions that you can't merely answer with a yes or no. For example, instead of asking that you like visiting Belgium, which quickly can be answered with a simple yes or no construct instead questions. OK, I hope you haven't left this course by doing this. Now let's do the same, but mixing things up using different illustrations. If your questions remain narrow, so will your conversations. Try it to construct your questions using the following awards. Who, what's where, when, why and how. If you ask a question using one of them, you create an open ended question instead of a close one. Open ended questions are questions that you can't merely answer with a yes or no. For example, instead of asking that you like visiting Belgium, which quickly can be answered with a simple yes or no construct instead questions using who , what, where, when, why and how such s what the zoo in Belgium initially, what you're doing s you can probably feel it's farm or engaging and entertaining. Therefore, don't use the same slideshow or illustration for a significant portion off one lesson, but makes it up by using various ones. Now, if you're wondering which program to use for slide shows or where to download illustrations , check the BDF research file. You can do more with slide shows and illustrations than just inserting text. You can make them come to life by zooming in or out. Nothing too crazy, but it does a lots. It might take a minute or two longer to do this, but it gives a much stronger dynamic to your course, and it can significantly improved entertainment level to keep your students attention as well, helping to emphasize the point you're trying to make. 7. 3. Demonstrating: to take it even further than merely talking head shots. Create video based courses where you can demonstrate what you're teaching. Toe your students. If you're teaching something that you do with your hands, such as how to cook with working yoga, giving massages, etcetera, it is better done on camera with you demonstrating the actions redder than through sleights for illustrations, animations or talking head shells. Why? Well, simply because these are subjects that are better taught by demonstration and learned when you see someone doing it. Now, the two main points to keep in minds are the following went demonstrating something. Take your time. Please don't do it at the speed you usually do. For example, with cooking. Don't shove the carrot as fast as you usually do, but slow down so your students can take note of how to apply properly. The slicing techniques being dots I'm not saying you'll have to do it is for each carat. You'll be shopping throughout the whole course. However, the first or second time you're doing something, be sure to slow down, especially if there is a particular technique involved in what you're trying to teach. Now, as simple as this sounds, Don't forget to duties. What might seem natural to you may not be so for someone new to this. If you go to fest, your students won't be able to see or understand what you're trying to teach them. Lastly, be sure your camera is set up correctly so that your students can see what you're doing. Don't make the same mistake of positioning your camera at such an angle that your students can clearly see what you're doing. Now. One thing that I want to mention here about using video footage in your course. If you're talking about a lifestyle or a skill or a profession you are engaged in and you want to incorporate video footage in your course, do show actual video footage that you had shots or in which you appear. This is 100% better than using stock videos. Why? Because using stock videos doesn't feel like you're living up to what you're talking about . For example, if you have a course on how to be a successful public speaker, but you only show video footage from a stock website about someone else doing public speaking throughout your course, it becomes a bit questionable if you have ever done any public speaking yourself. Another example. It will also be a bit strange if I keep talking here about creating a course, but always run clips from other people's courses and never show any off mine. It would feel like I really never created a course myself rights. This was what exactly happened in eighth RV course I once followed. Throughout the entire course, the instructors showed famous photos that other people took, never showing any obvious images. Now I'm not saying that that instructor is not a skilled photographer. Animation: finally, the last style you can create your course in its animation. Soon we will dive into a couple of lessons on how to be an excellent instructor, where you will learn essential skills to make sure you won't come across. As for a body, what I also can recommend is to record a test. Listen to see how you beer on the screen, especially if you're making your first course, and you aren't too comfortable being on camera yet. Teleprompter is a display device that provides the person speaking with an Elektronik screen, showing the running text of a speech or script. Using eight daily prompter is like using Q courts. Now this certainly isn't a considerable investment, as there is a great portable daily prompter device from parents gusting 100 and $93 that works together with your phone. I've used it ever since, and it's been honestly one off my best investments in terms off course equipments and making the whole process of creating a course more enjoyable. Also, if I should encounter or here off entertain Lee, prompt devices that many instructors use, you will find it there with this device. Every possible mistake that can happen if you use your computer screen as a prompter is far less likely to occur as the device is indeed right in front of your generalists. Speaking off rambling here is a big mistake I made with my course on bus processing and editing. I did not entirely edit out all the rambling this course waas at 1st 89 hour course. After receiving some bad reviews, I started asking my students Why now? It turns out that there were indeed far too many parts. We're a rambled and repeated myself too many times, and this was annoying for the students. So over the next months I completely re edited that course, which took some time and get out two hours off, rambling from its afterwards. The reviews and ratings started to pick up and became much better today that courses one off my top selling courses, proving indeed how important it is to edit out any unnecessary parts now to prevent the same thing happening to you. Do make sure you edit out any rambling that you have included in your course. Don't make something longer if it doesn't have to be cut out those unnecessary parts and get right to the points. Give your students what they came for, what they should learn on the course topic, not some senseless of ramblings. And lastly, I would recommend that you either print out the outlines off your course or have them open on your computer so that you will be able to check them regularly mainly, so that you could keep track of what you already did. Focus on what you are currently covering and a vote going too much off trek. Hopefully, this pieces of advice will be off used to you bonus scripting and outlining your course. Let me share it with you, mark in advance. What you want to do here is what I mean. Once my scripts or outlines are finished, I mark everything I want to do in the course. In the following colors yellow talking heads, blue animations, green illustrations or slide shows, purple video footage, reds demonstrations, great screen tests. Now this art colors that I use. You don't have to use these exact same colors. You can use whatever works for you, but I would suggest that you decide beforehand which colors you are going to use and note them down. Stick to the same colors for the entire course, or it will get confusing and you might end up making mistakes to show you an example. Here is a portion out of the script off this course here. But in my experience, recording all the voice overs for the animation, say, one day, all the voiceovers for the illustrations or slide shows another day and all the talking head shots and so on. Yet another day has been proven to work very effectively, mainly because it's more elects to do it this way. As you don't need to switch between different setups from your microphone to your camera to your computer screen, etcetera. You can stick to one set up for a couple of days, such as your microphone to record all voice overs, and then, once that is done, switch to your camera computer screen, etcetera. Stick to that for the next couple of days, until you're done recording all those different parts experiments and see what works best for you. Course Description - Six Tips to Help You Create a Great Course Description: Let's deconstruct what a good course description looks like Your course description is the front beach off your course. What is the Right Length for a Course?: you may be wondering what is a right ling for a course 30 minutes, 12 hours Now there is no single right answer to this. Basically, the length off your course comes down to this. You should give your course the amount off time you need to cover Clearly the subject you are teaching now, certain topics are more complex and take more explaining than others. If there is one thing to invest money in, do let it be a microphone. Trust me, you will not regret it. Terrible audio will results in a terrible course. We are learning here how to create a best selling course. So if you want to create a course like that, do invest in a good microphone. The level here is quite an affordable microphone that can also offer great audio quality. Now, this mikes are perfect. When you're moving around in your course, the audio volume and quality will remain the same as no matter where you go, the level you're stays in the same position. Now the great thing would level. Ear Mike's is that you can place him anywhere. Therefore, you can also stick them on your skin or underneath your shirt so it's completely invisible . The only downside through a USB microphone is that it's more of a hassle to uses. It requires more effort to set it up, and to record with its set up can be done in different ways. However, the most common one when recording, of course, is the use a microphone stent and position the microphone above your head right out of the frame off your video. Of course, you can also position it right under your camera, as I'm in fact doing here with this course. Or you can place it in front of you, which I did for my course on how to live A happy life. Let me first start by answering why you need to take lighting seriously. Firstly, because our cameras need a little bit off help. Modern cameras are amazing, but they don't perform to their absolute best under low light situations. Without lighting your video food, it will be grainy, resulting in poor video quality. And then, of course, the second reason why you should take lighting more seriously is that you will appear much cleaner and clearer in your videos, resulting in a more pleasant experience for your students to follow your course. Now, professional lighting can be costly starting summer from $100 to thousands. However, it certainly does not need to be that expensive. For every course I've created. I merely used lighting from insights, and if you look at each one off my best courses, they do have excellent video quality with good lighting conditions. Maybe not the absolute best, but certainly meeting the standard requirements off good quality this year is, in fact, the first course, where I'm using additional professional lighting nonetheless s. I can speak out of experience. You certainly don't need to use this to create a course that sells and is received. Well, look at all my previous courses and you can see this is true. What I did, however, with my past courses is to correct and enhance the lighting and colors in an editing program like at a premier. While in the lessons to come, we are going to learn three different ways off using lighting. In your course, a Willis will show you how to correct an enhanced light and color in an editing program. So let's dig into the lessons and learn the first lighting minutes to use in your course 26. 1. Studio Lighting: Three-Point Lighting Setup: let us start by learning about studio lighting with studio lighting, you'll achieve the best results as well as having the most flexibility and many possibilities with which to work. Therefore, it certainly doesn't hurt to invest in a lighting equipment, especially if you plan on creating more courses. Now I do understand that possibly you may have only intended to create one course. Therefore, it might feel a bit unnecessary to invest extensively in equipments, and that's fair. If, however, you do plan to create more than one course or you plan to make many YouTube videos or similar recordings, I would recommend that you invest in a lighting equipment as it will dramatically improve your video quality and make you appear much more cleaner and clearer on screen. Here in this listen, let me teach you about the standard minutes commonly used in visual media such as theater, video film, still photography, etcetera, and this is the Street point lighting set up the three point lining set up looks like this . As the name suggests, three point lighting contains treat lights. Let's take a closer look at this illustration to learn how to set up works. The lights. First, we have the key lights. This will help you differentiate among the tree lights you'll be turning on. This is a quick, yet hopefully clear explanation of how the tree point lighting set up works and how it apply. Now, having learned how to use the most common lighting set up, let's look at the other two alternatives. 27. 2. Light in Your House: If you don't want to buy any lighting at all, you could use what you have in your house and create a three point lighting set up similar to that which we learned in the previous lesson. Try any lighting you have in your house that could simulate this. If that's not possible, and you truly want to keep it simple. Do be aware these dust create shadows on the neck and doesn't evenly lights up everything, however, in all honestly, it does jump as long as lighting off your ceiling creates a sufficient amount of light for your camera to record without any notice. This just goes to show that if you're lighting isn't incredible, all is not lost. Now what you can do in which I do recommend is to optimize and enhance your video quality and lighting in an editing program such as at a premiere. Now let's jump into at a premiere so I can show you. Now note that there is gonna be a separate Listen here, coming up soon, where we gonna learn about essential editing techniques whereas, well, I will go over, um, a little bit off. What I'm going to show here is well, but here I want to show more how to correct color and just in general balance outs your video. So here in Edo, Premier, let's go to limit tree dollar here on the rights, click on its and go here to basic correction. So now we opens the basic correction panel here where we can do as the title suggests some basic corrections. Now, whichever editing program you're using, you should be able to have also the basic correction Option two increase the exposure contrast highlights and so on, so it could be positions somewhere differently. If you might be filming with more yellow dollars than you condone here with temperature, decrease it, for example, and make it more, you know, balance it a bit more outs if it's more infants to march rights. The exposure contrast highlights shadows, whites and blacks, and here we could start to balance Outs are video, so if, for example, we have shut very where it's very under exposed so very dark, for example, having the exposures lighter, increasing that we could at MAWR exposure. And if it's very under exposed and, you know, increase the shadows, for example. Now I'm just showing this. It's not really to be applied on this here, as this is basically pretty well balanced out, but it's basically doing the opposite off what you have. If it's too overexposed rights, then try to decrease the shadows. Bids tried to decrease the highlights. Ah, and then, of course, the exposure tried to do the opposite off what you have. So if you are filming in a lighting situation that is not optimal, then you can correct it by using this sliders over a year and doing the opposite off what you have. You can't completely fix this. You want people to just understand you, and music can make you less understandable. Now, whatever you do, I'm not saying you can use music. But whatever you do, don't insert music with lyrics. And the reason why is because lyrics their awards in there. And if you're speaking and then there's, like music with lyrics in the backgrounds, it's just confusing for your students. So if you want to use music than insert music with just instrumental, just use instrumental music. Okay? Otherwise it's just gonna be too much. Now I have downloaded the year just a clip I'm gonna inserted here. Um, this is not a good fitting music now, but basically that to show you don't do this now. Okay? Okay. So what I'm showing you is that that the music is way too loud and that you can't hear me at all. If you want to use music, right, but make it that you can hear it, but at the same time, not too much at all that it's not distracting. I wanted to have, like music, and it really fitted well together. And he kind of felt like a short movies every lesson. But as I said, it was music with no lyrics, just instrumental, and the music was just there to be in the backgrounds, so people might. My students were still able. You hear what I was saying. See if it fits for your course in general, most courses music I would not insert. It's as it doesn't really do much goods for most courses, but there definitely are certain courses where it can definitely do something as the example that I gave with my travel photography course. This is a process I follow with editing a lesson. Now that you know these steps, you can start anything your lessons to create this course of yours. Now, once you've edited your listen, it's time to export it into a complete video. What are the best exports cities? Let me show you 32. The Best Camera Settings and Export Settings for Your Course: Once you've edited your lesson to your liking, you need to turn it into a video ready for upload. Now, in general, this is quite straight forwards. Nonetheless, I do understand that this might be for some and maybe for you the very first time you'll be working with video editing software. Therefore, I want to show you how to export your video. Now, if you're using a different editing software than adult premier to export your video, you might have to do it in a slightly different manner in your editing software. In general, however, the commands will be positioned almost the same way in every editing software. If, however, you are having trouble finding how to do this in the editing software you are using, you can easily Google how to export videos in my movie Final Guts. If you can't find a good video about your editing software now, let us start by learning how to export your video. If you don't already have them there, then let people who watch the video know that you have a course on how to become a better pianist. Guitarist, singer, etcetera. That's how entertainment videos can lead to course sales. Now let's explore how tutorials could do the same. S I already said the way a tutorial can help promote your course. It's likely more self explaining. Put simply, you can create a tutorial video explaining or answering a question often asked by people afterwards. Let them know that if they want to learn even more about the topic, you have created a whole course covering everything about that topic in depth. Now there is one important note to stay here. Please don't create a halt. Answer tutorial. But if you're can only get the real answer he or she is looking for by involving in your course. This is shitty, and no one appreciate this, you will only end up with towns up down forwards on your videos. Your tutorial should be its own islands, meaning it should fully answer a question. For example, on my YouTube channel, I have a bunch off terrific tutorials. One tutorial that drives a ton of sales to my course is where I answered the question. How to blur your background using light room or photo shop. Now this story video answers that question. People will know precisely how to blur their backgrounds in their photos. Remember well, what you learned here in discourse and apply those exact same less is in your YouTube videos everything you've learned in marketing and promoting your courses. The same goes for marketing and promoting your YouTube videos. Apply what you learnt here in discourse to further increase the views off your YouTube videos. When answering a question on a hue and a website, you could refer them to a YouTube tutorial. For more info or place your YouTube video on your social media pages, drop it in a reddit community. Make people aware you have a YouTube channel on your website and in your courses etcetera. Obviously, for your videos to rank higher on YouTube, it must be something good so that people want to keep watching it or recommend it. Don't be shy about asking your viewers for it themselves at the end of your video and as them to subscribe if they like what they watched.
