And opening an online store is a great way to start. Nowadays, offering an optimum e-commerce experience and having a flexible e-commerce platform is a must-have for e-commerce success. Woo Commerce is the perfect start to this incredible journey. Join me and together in this course we will build an online shop from start to finish without hold or programming, you will learn about hosting and domains. We will install Wordpress and newcomers, and we will play with templates and customize them to look the way you want. You will then learn to create different types of products, categories, and the attributes. We will set up the navigation menu, create new pages, and use widgets. We will also set up taxes, shipping, and read discount codes for your marketing campaigns. We will then discuss what happens when orders come in reports and we will add Google Analytics to understand our visitors. The improve our shop based on data, not guesses. At the end of this course, you will have all the tools you need to start a successful online shop and sell your products or services even while we sleep. For this course, you will only need a computer and an internet connection. Nothing more. This course is for you if you want to start a small business or a side hustle, let's start now. 2. This is What are We Going to Build: Hello and welcome. In this lesson, I'm going to show you what we're going to build in the next few hours. This is the store we're going to build. It's called Alex's gift shop.com. And it looks like this. If you're ready, we can start now. 3. Domain Names and Web Hosting: Hello and welcome back. In this lesson, I want to talk about domain names and hosting. To start your story, you're going to need both of these. So let's start with the domain names because it's the first time you are doing this, or I guess so. Don't spend too much time on figuring out what's the perfect domain. Figure out what do you want to sell and think about something that's short and that's available. A.com domain is best, but if you see.net or dot co, those will work as well, so don't worry about it. So my first recommendation is go to named Chip that come and register a domain name. I don't know. Let's see, Alex, I wanna sell gifts. So Alex, Alex gift shop, gift shop.com. So there you go. I can have this domain, Alex gift shop.com for 888 per year. I added to my cart one-year registration. If I go to check out, you don't need anything else than this. I have a one-year subscription to the WHO is Garden lift. This enabled. It's useful. It's some sort of privacy protection service, so it doesn't cost you anything. Nows, living like that. I can confirm the order. I have other domain names hosted with named chips, so I can go ahead and just pay, pay for this domain right now. And when he comes to hosting here is a bit more trickier. Because if it just start a regular blog, ok, so we are using WordPress, that's a CMS for blogging. But on top of that, we're having these really amazing plugin, that's Woo Commerce and that transfers, that transforms actually our blog, our CMS, into real Store. Woo Commerce. It's very powerful, but it also needs a lot more resources than just just the regular blog type of website we usually see. And for that, we really need the better hosting account. Okay, moving on to hosting. I said that we need a fast hosting account. Most of the hosting companies offer WordPress hosting, but again, working with Woo Commerce, it's a bit different. So my recommendation is, and this is going to be in the lesson notes as well. I'm going to send you the link there is, one of them is liquid web and the other is nexus. The pricing is really great. Starts at nine a month at this moment. But I don't think they're going to change it because really it's it's really awesome. Managed dedicated hosting for Woo Commerce. And the other one is liquid web-based, actually nexus now it's owned by liquid web. This is also a great company to start with. The pricing is pretty similar. So this is 19 a month, but you get some couple of things extras. So, and if our store grows, we can grow within these plans fairly easy without having the need to move our entire web, website, another company. And again, you can go to blue host or you can go to either no, companies like this one. But the performance of your website is crucial when selling things online. Every second that your website is delayed, loading is going to cost you money. Especially on mobile, where lots of lots of transactions are made now on mobiles. So you want to have the fastest website possible. So there are companies where you're not going to pay nine a month, like we are seeing here. Probably you're gonna pay three for $5 a month or maybe you are going to get, I don't know, for $30.1 year. But my advice is to go for a monthly plan with one of these companies. Again, I'm going to give you the links below, and it's also very easy to set up. In the next lesson, I'm going to show you how we can install WordPress on different platforms. One of them will be this one I'm going to show you again how to set up email accounts. And also via cPanel is well, because these companies don't have cPanel, that's an advantage from my point of view because cPanel actually makes, consumes much more resources on the server and this company is don't use it because of that. So you need the lightest website to go as fast as possible. See in the next lesson. And thank you. 4. DNS Changes Namecheap: Hey, welcome back. My hosting account is now registered. And all I need to do now is to read, read my domain to my new hosting account. How do I do that is by changing my domain name servers. And this will help point my domain directly to this hosting account. Where do I find my domain name servers is right here, go to DNS and we see them here. So N S1, that next is.net. In this case, for the most hosting companies, you're going to receive this information in your welcome email. This along with all the information you need to properly run your new website. But I was already in my panel here on Nexus and it was easier to grab this. So I copy this. I go to name chip or whatever register you used to register your domain name. I go to domain lives list. I click on my domain name. And here I can change my name servers right here. Now I see here named Chip basic DNS. I click on it and choose custom DNS. I paste. I'm only seeing two options, but I need four. So I'm adding one to now have four, yeah. And S3 and NS for I Click on Save. It takes a bit. I usually this change dates from humanities to a few hours. Okay. So it tells me that up to 48 hours. But my experience tells me that it's not going to take 48 hours, is going to be much less than the. See you in the next lesson and thank you. 5. DNS Changes Godaddy: So Hey, welcome back. In this lesson, we're going to see how we can change the DNS servers for Go Daddy. So you sign up with Go Daddy for domain. And now you want to, you want to redirect your domain name to the hosting account. How do we do that? We just go need to go to manage domains. I click on one domain name. Then then I'm scrolling down. And here additional settings I see here manage DNS. So all I have to do now is click on using custom name servers. Could change. Yes, I'll use my own servers. And here I'll type my or copy paste my name servers. I click Save. And now your DNS servers are changed and it will take a few hours for the name to be reaching your hosting account and to probably displayed. Thank you and see you in the next lesson. 6. Create Email Accounts: While waiting for our domain to redirect to this hosting account, we can start creating our email accounts. So I can just add, we're going to create sales at my domain name, yes, so Alex's gift shop. And I'm going to add also support because I'm gonna need that. So that said, I have. So, so far I've directed my domain to my new hosting account, and I have created my two email addresses. Going back here, we can do it in C panel like this. Go to email accounts. Create, choosing again my domain name here. Contact. Generate. All writes, 100 megabytes. It should be enough. Create normally, remember to keep your password safe. So yeah, I've created this contact that Alex gift shop.com in cPanel. That's about here. If you're using this one, we're gonna go back four different stuff. We, if we need it. In the next lesson, we're gonna learn about commerce, how to set it up, how to install it in both these phantom and also cPanel. It's really easy to do it if you chose to work on your local computer. We're going to do that as well, because it's really, really easy. And from now on we're gonna work mostly in the Wordpress admin panel. So thank you very much for staying with me and see you in the next lesson. Js. 7. Install WordPress in Cpanel: Hello and welcome back. This is the cPanel. In case you already have a hosting account and you want to use that, you can do it. What do you need do is to scroll. We're seeing it here. Click on WordPress. Are sometimes, maybe this doesn't show up and you can just go directly to blogs. Click on WordPress because this is where interested in where chosing the latest release of WordPress. And I'm gonna choose my domain name. So I'll access gift shop.com. Sometimes, depending on the cPanel version, you're gonna see this here. So it tries to install WordPress sinner directory. We don't want that. We want to delete this. We want the WordPress installation to happen in the root domain. A few options here, we can change if you want to a site name, SMI blog, site description, we can put here whatever we want. Enabled multi-site. No, we don't want that. A few words about this area. Admin, username. We are seeing here that the default username is admin. I would highly advise to change this to something else, like something global blind the number or but don't leave it as that mean, it's way easier for your website to be hacked. Because the hacker will work a lot less. If he already knows the admin username is admin password. We can generate this random password. Now it says just strong CCR5 out of a 100. If we add more, that there's some numbers or even assign. Like thought. And there are our email here. English. We're not interested in the other options. And we just click Install. And it takes just a few seconds for our WordPress install to happen. It shows us the administrative URL. But as we're not, I'm not actually using this hosting account to who's my new website. This is irrelevant now, but normally you just go click on it and you'll be logged in. Remember to copy and pay to save your password if you're not using a password manager, I highly advise you to do so. It's really helpful and it will save you both fine. And a lot of headaches. See you in the next lesson and thank you. 8. Install WordPress on Your Computer: Hello and welcome back. In this lesson, I want to show you how we're going to install WordPress on our computer without needing a domain name or hosting account. What we need to do is go to local WP.com and download the software. This is going to help us install our Wordpress environment directly on our computer. So I'm on now, Mac now, but this is going to be the same on Windows as well. So don't worry about that. I'm going to save. This is basically going to help us play around with WordPress, with plugins, and also get familiar with the, with the Wordpress environment. And it's also faster because we don't need to buy the domain, we don't need to set up the hosting account. So we just gonna install this right now, copied into my applications folder. And that's it. I should be able to launch this and start setting up my first WordPress environmental, my computer. Yes, so I don't need to see this. I see this. I already here have a couple of websites that they did before. So what let's do an another one, Su Wu store. I don't need to check out the advanced options. Some actually, again, copy this already. Continue. Default settings. When your username is gonna be LAX. My best, we're just going to be parallel excuse. And this is going to start right the way thinks a bit installed the WordPress, it does this by default. Okay, awesome. So now my new Wordpress site is installed. If I want to go to the local website and just copy this. And voila minute where beside these installed on my computer and now I can go to WP admin. My user name is Alex. Alex login. And that's it. Now I can go install my plug-in if I wanted to do basically anything go we'll do on my hosting account, those we'll see in the next lesson. And thank you. 9. Install WooCommerce: Hello and welcome back. And now I want to go to plugins. I see I already have a few plug-ins here, but commerce is not one of them because I deleted earlier because this hosting account came with the M-commerce already installed. So I'm going to install it again, add new. It suggests this this panel already shows me a few plug-ins that I should install. This is optional, you don't need to install anything. We're going to just search for e-commerce install. Now. It's installed and I'm going to activate the plugin. So I'm now I'm seeing this wizard that I am going to use. Yes, please. So my address is why add this one? I'm going to unite the kingdom. City of London. I'm gonna continue. You can try this if you want. I'm going to say no. In which industry does your store operate? I'm going to show I'm going to use fashion apparel and accessories. You don't have to do it if you don't want to. Yes, I'm going to sell physical products. And now I'm seeing other options here. I'm seeing downloads. Yes, because I want to set a downloadable product as well. I'm seeing subscriptions here. These are bade options, actually bade plugins that you can use to create different kinds of websites. So subscriptions, we have memberships, we have bookings, we have bundles and customizable products. These are all paid options that we're going to take care of this bit later. Continue. How many products do you plan to display? Either long, we'll see 11 to a 100 currently selling elsewhere. No. And now I'm seeing these other options. These are as well plug-ins. I don't want to install them. No, no, no. Gunna say there are other better options for these plugins. So I'm almost done. Choose a theme. I'm going to continue with my active theme, Astra. Another is here, all teams. Yep, paid themes. So these are options from m-commerce directly. Prices are per year. This is in order to get updates. Yeah. We have a free tool, free themes. Actually, we have the storefront, boutique and Delhi. And it tells us that we can upload our theme as well. But let's continue with my active team. Enhance your store with jet back m-commerce services? Not at this point. I feel that jet back and this other stuff, it's making the website that beat the slower. And we don't need it right away. So I'm going to say no thanks. We can install stuff like this leader. So I'm showing now this guide will come to your Woo Commerce stores online headquarters. Next. Next, let's go. Now I can add products, setup payments, setup, tax setup, shipping, and also personalize the store. And we're gonna do all this in a few minutes. We have some tips. We can dismiss all this right now. A quick overview of this. We're going to show orders here. We have None at the moment. These are reports about customers and we're going to see a list of customers here. Coupons, we can create our coupons right away. It tells me something that in this new version of commerce, coupon management has moved. Okay, removal, you see legacy. And we're going to see it here in the marketing section. Let's go back. We're going to have reports. At the moment. We're not seeing any sales because we haven't generated any c in the next lesson. And thank you. 10. WooCommerce Setup: Hello and welcome back. Let's go a bit over the settings of Woo Commerce. So the store address, I have it here. A selling locations, selling to all countries. If I want to sell worldwide or maybe I want to sell just to a couple of countries. Alone will choose Cell to specific countries. And I'm gonna choose united Kingdom, Ireland. And that's shipped to all countries you sell two years. Default customer location should base address. We have different options here. No location by default and it's not gone on the checkout page is not gonna show anything. We'll go back. We'll go there as well. Shop base. So United Kingdom and geolocate where if we were to chose, for example, cell to all countries, we could locate the customer automatically. And if the customer will do come from the United States, it would've showed on the checkout page The United States country enabled tax rates and calculations. Yes. I'm gonna use that enable the use of coupon cause yes. This one. No, I'm not going to enable this. And I would suggest you don't. Currency, you can choose here the currency you're using are the moment is pound sterling, You can choose euro, you can choose United States dollars, or whatever currency you're selling. Let's go to products now. Okay, I didn't save my options because I made a few changes here. Call it saved products. The shop page, this is automatically installed when we go to the wizard Add to Cart behavior. So what happens when a customer clicks the Add to Cart button? It can write re-direct card page after a successful edition. So if everything is okay to the product, it will go to the current page. Enable objects, we can leave this as is placeholder image in case we are having a products with no image measurements. These are in metric system where you can choose imperial as well. So we see grams, meters, inches, yards enable reviews. Yes, I want to have reviews on my store so customers can live. Hopefully positive reviews. I show verified owner label on customer reviews, yes, because this is going to show that the real customer plays that review is not something random, enables star ratings and reviews. Yes, I want to have that as well. Inventory. We have enabled stock management by default, hold stock minutes, 60 minutes. So if we are selling either no mugs and we have only 30 marks on sale, we can add on the product page, the stop. We have. How many minutes in case the order is not paid, how many minutes will the stock when this limit is reached, the pending order will be cancel. These are notifications for us and is gonna tell us when the product is low stock. My email address here, low stock threshold is going to show on the product page how many items are left out of stock, 0 out of stock visibility. If you want to hide the items that are no longer in stock. Stock display format always show quantity remaining start. We can either enable this or not, or we can show, for example, the lowest low stock thresholds. So only two in stock. Well, it doesn't display anything, never show quantity remaining in stock. Downloadable products. A few options here. File download method for us downloads. These are a little bit technical. We know we're not gonna go into that. Downloads require login, grant access, a downloadable rural products after payment, yes. And we're going to leave this as it is taxes. Depending on the country you're in or your companies in. We're going to have different options here. Was standard rates, reduce rates, rates. You can import the rates here if you go to go to Google and search for commerce, decks rates, CSV 2020. We should have a link, this one, setting up taxes in e-commerce. And you're gonna see here a lot more details about the taxes. So please do read how to set up your taxes so you don't have to. We can go and import csv, browse, namenodes here, upload file and import tax rates. So basically it ok, so all the US. Tax rates for each state, all 50 states. We're not going to use this because each one of you have to set their own taxes. Shipping. We can add the shipping zone. Zone one island. United Kingdom. Shipping methods are the shipping method, flat rate. The cost. I will just add five. So five pounds no matter where I am going to ship. These again, are different options that you have to set. Lets go to payments. So we can have some default payments. Direct Bank, cod, I'm going to enable this one. Save changes. You can install many payment options via, via plugins. I'm gonna show you right away. So PayPal standards, you can use it. Ray right away. That's not my PayPal address, but it already filled it in. I suggest you install your, you enter your API credentials here. You're gonna find, find it in your PayPal account is going to help you with in case of refunds and payments as well. So payments, if we want to add more payment options, for example, I want to add stripe, Woo Commerce, striped payment gateway and install and activate. And if I go back, I go to commerce, I go to settings, I go to payments. And we're going to see here a list of stripe options, because stripe can accept other options as well for Europe, like your geo pay so forth. But the one we're interested in is this one stripe credit card. And if we click on it, we can enable it. We have a test mode. Stripe is really a great way to accept credit cards. You just go here and you can register directly on your account, verified and then go back and and there you're this is now on test mode. And if you can see it as published t And if we disable it live publishable key. Okay, moving on, accounts where leaving this base width not save guest checkout. Yes. I want to allow customers to place orders without an account. Yes. I want to allow customers to login. An existing account during the checkout phase, account creation allow customers to create an account during checkout? If I don't want to receive when you order, I'm just going to disable it. Gonna go. Please save. And that's it going back. And now I'm not going to receive new orders. This is for the customers as well. You can see here on this column, we should change the from address to info. I don't have a logo yet. We can change the footer text so width will commerce or save changes. Okay, next, panel integration, maximized geolocation. It's something that we discussed when I told you about this option default customer location. If we're seeing this one, I don't know why this pops up. So geo-locate, if we're using geo-locate, we're gonna need to sign up for an account with Max Mind and get a license from them is free. We don't have to pay it, but commerce doesn't include this anymore. It used to do to include it but no longer. So advanced. We have different options here. Page setup, we already have the pages because when commerce installed, it created this pages by default. So Cart Checkout and my account terms and conditions, we have to create this by yourself. Checkout ten points that I would leave this by default, you don't have to change here anything. The API, different plugins or services connected, commerce, we're going to use this. And we can add the key that we can then pass to our software or plug-in feature, we can add web hooks, does different things. If we have on Woo Commerce account that come, newcomers that come account, sorry, we can connect that and use it here. The homeschooling is this one here. We can enable it or disable it will, it will leave it like that for now. So that was a quick overview of the Woo Commerce settings. Install a Theme: Hello and welcome back. In this lesson, we're gonna learn how to install Woo Commerce. We're going to talk a bit about the themes and also plugins the WordPress. Cms is very rich and has a ton, a ton of features that you can use. You can transform it in almost any kind of website if you would like that. But now what we're trying to do is create a store. So in order to do that, we're gonna work with themes. So the themes are templates that we're going to use and we're going to also use plug-ins. Will commerce x actually is o WordPress plug-in. But it's very reaching future features and also can be a bit overwhelming with the things it can do. There are tons of add-on plug-ins to the Woo Commerce. One, and we're going to install a few to create our website. The theme we're going to use, it's this one, Astra. But I'm going to delete it now because I wanted to I want to I want to show you how it's installed. So first of all, how do we add themes? So we go to Appearance teams. We will already see this default ones that are installed. And if we go to our homepage, we're going to see something like this. Hello World, welcome to WordPress. This is your first post. Now to Avenue theme. We can go here, add a new theme. And we're already seeing a lot of options here. Many of these might be suitable for store. But we're gonna go back to Astra because that's the easiest one and it has some interesting features. I will show you a bit later. There is also the option to upload a theme if you want. But say you bought a theme from places like Tim forest. You can directly uploaded from your computer here. We're not gonna do this now. We're going to search for hasta. Oh sorry. And we're going to click Install and then activate. So that's great. Our new theme's installed and everything is in order. See you in the next lesson and thank you. 12. Install Astra Theme Templates: Hey, and welcome back. In this lesson, I'm going to try and set up our new website. Our Astra Theme is installed, but we don't have any options. We don't have any products. We're gonna install an Astra add-on plugin that is going to help us create really quickly a beautiful website that we just can add it and make it our own. So to do that, I'm gonna go to Plugins, Add New classic editor. Yes, I want to install this because the current editor is a bit complex. And I'm gonna go here and just write Astra. In this lesson, we're going to customize a bit the website, make a few changes and to basically make it more of our own. When you login to your WordPress admin, you're going to go to the homepage. You're gonna see this link, customized cook on it. And now we're going to see a lot of little options that we can edit and change different things to our website. Let's go through each one and see what we can change. What happens. So if we go to global, we're going to see typography based topography. Basically here we can change the way our phones look. It has Google fonts integrated, and I think there are around 100 font. Now we have Leto. Basically the fonts here look very good. We like it. The size 15 maybe if we can make it even bigger, 16. And the changes are instantly the weight of the font. Maybe want to make it thinner or Boulder. Baby want to use all uppercase. Let's see what happens. So now all the product titles are uppercase. Leave the size, default, line-height, paragraph, margin bottom. So different options for our topography to make it look even better. We have the headings option. Again, the same kind of settings we're seeing here, that the weight is bold. Text transform again. If we change to uppercase, let's see what happens. So yeah, it changed the size, make it bigger or smaller depending on what we want. We publish, and this is how the changes will save. We have now color base colors, the text color, the theme color, link color, link hover color. So depending on the links where we are, this can change the background.
