1. Introduction to How to Save Big Money: everybody and welcome to my class on how to save big money. Now we have all hit those times where we don't have the cash flow that we desire. Toe have that things might be a little tie. Or maybe you were just trying to get out of debt. And so we're trying to be really cautious with our money. Or maybe we're saving for that big expense. A new house, a new car, a fantastic trip, you know, a move across country, whatever it might be, there are times in our life where we need to be saving money and not just spending frivolous frivolously. Um, you know, and we're all guilty of it. We all, you know, agree to go out to dinner at a fancy restaurant from time to time. We go to, um, expensive go out, have expensive drinks with our friends and family. We take unnecessary risk with our money. We don't put back as much as we want to, and we have spent money on things that we don't necessarily need that we could have done without. Well, this class is gonna teach you how to avoid some of those pitfalls and how to really save some big money without putting the effort into it that you think you might need because there are a lot of ways we could be saving money that don't really have to take much of a thought process. There are times when we do things that, um you know, if we would have just thought about them beforehand, we would have saved a lot of money. So that's what this class is about. How to save big money. I've learned through my years and through those difficult times that I have flipped through how to do this and how to make it effective and how to make it work for myself. And I want to share it with you. So we're going to get into this, and I hope you guys are ready. 2. Saving Money at the Grocery Store: one of the biggest places that we waste. A lot of money is the grocery store, and I can hear you all out there right now saying, Well, you know, we have to eat. We have to go buy groceries. That's a staple of life, but it is a staple of life. But we spend so much money on junk when we go to the grocery store that we could streamline that process a little bit and not only save us some big money but also make ourselves healthier. Okay, Stores. Air designed grocery stores, especially, are designed for impulse buys. They put stuff on things on items on certain shelves that catch your eye. They put things near the check out that catch your high so that you're just gonna buy them on an impulse, and they're counting on that. You're going to the store hungry and that you're gonna be ready to eat as soon as you get there. So here's what I want you to do that next time you get ready to go to this door, make a list. I know it sounds so simple, but make a list now with that, I want you just stick to the list. Don't buy anything that's not on the list. This is a very important feature because where we start getting into problems at the grocery store is buying things that we didn't intend to go in there and Bosch things that we don't necessarily need an extra bag of chips, some kind of candy, some new soft drink, a new product that's just out that we got to try a sample, that they might be candy out of the store and then you're like, Oh, that was really good. I think I should buy that. No, keep to your list and make sure that you stay within your budget by keeping everything on your list Now. Another great thing is coupons. I know people don't like to use coupons, but I mean, if it's something that you're going to buy, it is silly not to use a coupon not to take advantage of that 30 40 cents. That adds up big time over the years. So take advantage of that now. The big thing that has saved me a ton of money at the grocery store, and I'll just say if out there but Wal Mart in particularly is they started doing this online shopping so you consent at home on the APP. Put in exactly what you need for the store and somebody at the grocery store will go and pick those items up. And then you'll set up a time and you'll go to the store and they bring it out to the your car and deliver it right and put it right in your trunk. It's amazing, so amazing. So this eliminates that process of getting things that are not on your list. So I can tell you now. I used to go into the store and not get out of there without spending $7500 now I can keep it under 50 and I don't buy the junk that I need. I don't buy the junk. I don't buy the the little impulse items. This is an amazing feature that stores were offering now and well. It's designed to make you spend more and make it easier for you to shop. It's also saving us more and keeping us from buying the idiotic things that we just don't really need, for that matter. Now the other thing I want you to think about with that process is the time you're saving. I know if I go to the grocery store on, I'm the worst shopper of all time, we're shop of all time. I'm back and forth zigging around the store. I never know where anything is. You can't find what I'm looking for, so I'm back and forth and store all the time. This eliminates that. I bet. I say every time I use this service, I bet I save an hour to an hour and 1/2 of time. I would have been in the store looking for things going through the check out line, all those type of things. I'm telling you, it's amazing. You should check it out of your store, doesn't have it, talk to him and maybe they'll be getting it soon. But let's really start thinking about saving money on our groceries. We, as Americans eat way too much food, way too much food, and a lot of times it's just because it's in the house. One of my big things, that cereal, cereal, breakfast cereals in the house, that's my snack, and it's my go to snack all the time. And so if it's in the house, I'm gonna keep eating it and keep eating at almost mindlessly. So start thinking about how you can cut corners on your groceries and cut that list day up hand. Stick to that list and you will start saving amazing amounts of money. 3. How to save money on your Loans and Mortgage: okay. The next way to save huge amounts of money is on your loans and your mortgages, and you might think, well, how can I save huge amounts of money on those? And the simple fact of the matter is by paying a little bit extra, paying a little bit extra on your mortgage every month, paying a little bit extra under car payment each month. You will find a big difference when you get close to paying that loan off. And that goes for any of your loans. If if you've got any type of loan where there's no penalty for early payment, which most of those most bones don't have that anymore, that was an old time feature that a lot of them have. But check with your lending facility and see what your situations are. But start looking at your money and going. How much can I pay extra this month? Now you don't think in large amounts. Don't think that you have to pay to $300 extra on your house payment to make a difference. That's not the case. Think of the interest in how it compounds over the years. Think about that and start to see and you'll start to see how just even paying a dollar extra a month can make a world of difference over the lifetime of a 30 year mortgage or a five or six year car loan. If you can do more, it just compounds that you know if you look at your credit card statement and how the interest accumulates on that. By doing this by paying that little extra on your mortgage in your car payment or any other loan you have in that manner, you are going to say that amount of money in reverse. So, like what? The credit cards, a ridiculous amount of interest that credit cards are going. Companies are charging it. You're going to start to say that on your mortgage and your carpets now a little less array , cause usually you get a little less. Your interest rates a little less on your house payment in your car payment than what they are on those god awful credit cards. But this is such a simple way to do it. Another thing that you can do on this and most most places allow you to do. This, too, is toe bust your payment up into two. So it say you have a $500 house payment instead of saying paying $500 at the end of the month halfway through the month, pay 250 at the end of the month, paid the other 2 50 That also helps eliminate that that interest because that 1st 250 you're not paying interest on it the second part of the month. So start, think about that. You know we can you really use our brains here and make the loans. And, um, car loans and mortgages work out for us in a huge way. I just sit down and figure out a 5% loan, 30 year loan. You know, $1 is going to save you at least a dollar 50 in the long run. So it's going to save you more than you paid in in the long run. So that dollar is going to save you a lot more than a dollar is going to save you $2.50 in that situation. Now, I didn't show you all the math, but trust me, figure it out for yourself, and it's amazing how much more. So you know, if somebody if I gave somebody a dollar and they were gonna give me $2.50 back, I would do that all they walk all day long. I wouldn't even be a question. It would just be over and over and over again. Um, so think about that as you're going forward here and putting that money to good use. You know, instead of going and buying a Starbucks for five bucks, put that extra money towards your car payment. Put out extra money towards your mortgage and you're gonna save way more, and you're gonna be able to play plenty of coffee after your mortgage or your car payment or paid off with what you're saving on their on that loan. So and look at that on any loan that you have, it doesn't have to be car payment. Doesn't have to be a mortgage payment. Any loan that you have school loans the same way anything that you have that has interest on it, you could be saving big money, but just paying a little extra if nothing else, round up. If your payment ends and 50 cents rounded up to the next dollar. If it ends in a, um 10 cents rounded up to the next dollar, you might think 50 cents or 90 cents or something is not gonna make a world of difference. But over time, it will make a huge difference. So start looking at all your mortgages and loans and seeing where you can start, be banking some more money for yourself instead of giving it to the banks. 4. Using Credit Card Incentives: Okay. This next way to save money is a tricky one because you have tohave dedication to do this, and that is taking advantage of any credit card incentive that they throw out there. Now you've You've seen these hundreds and hundreds of time. Every credit card comes with that. They're going to give you 0% interest rate for 21 months or for 12 months. They're going to give you a dollar cash back for grocery purchases. They're going to give you cash back for gas purchases, all these great things that are really great and are really fantastic. And if they're used correctly, they can save you a lot of money. It's almost like the credit card companies air giving you money and isn't that amazing? Don't you wanna have that happen every day? Well, it all works great in theory, but if you're not paying off the balance each month it works the opposite. Then you start to accumulate interest. And that's what the credit card companies are hoping. They're hoping that you don't have the dedication to pay these off every month or to get them paid off by the time that interest starts accruing and that's where they make their money because they know it's human nature. We sign up for these things and it's all great. And then somewhere along the lines, we lose sight of it that we lose focus on what we're supposed to be doing, and we let it slide one month, and then we let it slide another month. And soon we've got $1000 on that credit card, and now that interest is coming due, and now we're having to pay the interest. That's what the credit card companies are banking on their banking on the fact that you won't be dedicated to doing exactly what you want. Now I know people that have done this to a T and save a lot of money on their credit by doing this from and now even bounce stuff from one card to the next cause they know where the incentives are and what best incentive they have. Um, available to them at that time. But it is. It is very, um, a number crunching. You have to keep control, keep track of everything and know when those balances need to be paid off so that you don't accrue the entrance would make sure you don't have any late payments, anything like that. Anything that could avoid are void out that incentive that you're getting otherwise. Incentives are great and they're fantastic, and they will help you. Amazing in the ways to keep everything flowing smooth in your and your monetary means. But we've got to be dedicated. Credit cards can be a and huge trap, and they do it all the time. Just look at all the credit card. If you're like me, you probably get, you know, 345678 of these credit card applications a month, and they all have some kind of great thing, you know, frequent flyer miles. You know, all you have to do is spend this much, and you know you'll get your frequent flyer miles bubble block. Um, you know, incentives, football jerseys, whatever. It might be their great and they're wonderful out there. If you're smart with them, so get your get your brain working. If you wanted to take advantage of credit card incentives because they can help you out in amazing ways, as long as you don't fall into the traps that the credit card companies have set there for you, hoping that you won't keep focused on this. That hoping that you won't pay attention. And soon those credit cards will be coming in with interest. And that's where the credit card company start to make huge amounts of money. 5. Groupon Offers some Money Saving Opportunities: now, the next way you can save a lot of money is on group on, group on retail. Me, Not any kind of service like that that offers you discount on something is definitely something you should be taking advantage of. A zehr trying to save money and trying to cut costs. But what you have to be careful of here and again is over indulging just because there's a group on for something like maybe a massage or, um, you know, uh, uh, a free Baskin Robbins ice cream, Whatever it might be if it's not something that you were going to purchase, stay away from it. Things that I find that are very good on group on oil changes we all have to have. We have to keep up on our oil changes on our car. So that's a great one that I always go on and look there. If you're going to do anything, you know, Groupon's a great place to go look and see. How can I save a little bit of cash there anything that you could say. But don't fall into the trap with group on of getting the emails and saying, Oh, there's something that would be fun to do and purchasing without thinking that that was, you know, in your mind to do anyhow, what you need to do is have something when you're ever you're going to do something, we're going to out E or something like that. Groupon has a lot of Groupon's for that. But if you your intention was not to go out there in the first place, they're gonna suck you into buying something that you didn't want. So start thinking of a group on as an afterthought to what you're going to do. So say you're going to go out to eat at a certain place, go to group on website punching that places name and see if a group on does come up that way. You're not. You're not letting group on decide where you're going to go and what you're gonna do and how much you're going to spin. You're going to be doing it and saving money instead of buying Groupon's that you had no intention of buying in the first place. So start thinking ahead on Groupon's and don't wait for the Groupon's to come down and say , Oh, yeah, that'd be fun to do. You know, if money is not a problem, that's that's fine. Let the Groupon's come in and say, Oh, that would be great to do Let's do that. But if you're trying to watch your money, don't let group on dictate what you're going to do. You go to group on and say, This is what I want to do This is where I'm gonna go. Do you have any Groupons for me? Take control of your group on me and you will end up saving a lot, A lot of money. 6. Stop Eating Out All The Time: Here's one of the biggest ways that you can save money, and that's just simply don't eat out. Don't go to the fast food places. Don't go to the chain restaurants. Don't go out to eat, cook stuff at home, Eat at home, and you will save huge amounts of money. Now I hear what you're saying. You know, every restaurant has a dollar menu and they have some specials that are going on and they give you coupons and everything like that. But it's the added things that start to add up. I know if I take, have taken my family or my kids out to eat, and I maybe I have all intentions of getting everything off the dollar menu. Somebody in my family is going to go. I don't want that. I want this instead. And now the sudden you're buying a $6 burger and fry combo instead of getting a couple dollar items off the dollar menu. Andi soda is one of the worst at fast food restaurants, and I know Mickey D's is famous. They get your your dollar soda, which is it sounds like a great deal. Sounds like a wonderful deal that when you. But then, when you start comparing to what you can buy soda four and drink it at home, I mean a dollar for a big soda. That's great. It's fine. But you can usually get a two liter bottle of soda for a dollar or less if you're watching for when they're on sale. And that's way more than you get in on those cups for Mickey D's or any of the other fast food places. But they bait you in with those special offers and the dollar menu because they know you're not good. Stick to the dollar menu. You know somebody in your party's gonna go. Well, I don't want that. Yeah, if you can stick to him. Yeah, it might make a little sense of the eat out, especially if you're on the run and you don't have time to cook something. But try to steer clear of eating out, especially if you go someplace a big sit down restaurant. You know you're gonna drop 40 or 50 bucks when you could have made almost the same meal at home for a fraction of the cost may be less than $10 for a 40 $50 meal that you went out with your family, one of the ones that always and I love Mexican food. I love it. It's one of my favorites. But my gosh, when I go out to eat Mexican food and then I get home, I'm like, Oh my gosh, beans, refried beans, rice tacos, meet shells. It's very costly to have somebody make that food for you and to eat out in that sense. And then you got obviously, you gotta leave a tip, which is very important. I'm a big fan. People need to tip because that's how those people make their money. But if you're trying to save money, you got to start considering all those things. You know another thing again. We go with the soda. When you go out, just sit down. Restaurant. The sodas are 2 50 api's. You know, when we were just talking about how a dollar soda at McDonald's is really more than you combine it and bring it home and have it at home for, So let's start thinking and being smart with our eating out, and I would have just tried to avoid it, um, at all if if at all possible. You will see how much money you'll rack up a huge amount of time. Start even if if, if nothing else, start taking inventory of whenever you go out to eat how much it costs and keep a monthly inventory of how much you spend eating out and then start to compare it to what you could get that same meal for if you bought it and prepared at home. Yes, I know it takes time. Yes, I know it takes effort, but my gosh, you're paying yourself instead of paying a wait staff instead of paying and cook instead of protecting hostess instead of paying for the rental property that the restaurants and you're paying for all that stuff when you go out to eat, so the choice is yours. But I suggest if you're trying to save money and trying to put back money, don't go out to eat 7. Save for Vacation and Events: okay. We all love to go on vacations. We love to do special things. Um, you know, there the spice of life, you know, I know vacations create great memories. When you go and do something exciting, it creates more great memories. But what we usually fail to do is we usually fail the plan to do them. And I think this is where we lose a lot of money. We just get to the point where it's time to go on vacation. We whip out the credit card and we start spending away and thinking will pay for it later. That's the wrong attitude to have. We need to start saving ahead of time and get ahead for a vacation. Now we might go over our budget. I don't want you to cut your vacation short. I don't want you to do something that you wanted to do on your vacation, because you member may never be there again. But if we start planning ahead and start saving money up for a vacation, a special a bit, anything that's going on that we want to take part in, you know, we need to start saving ahead of time and put in some money back because I can tell you if you can save, say, your vacation's gonna catch you $2000 this year and you can save 1000. That's 1000 less dollars that you're gonna have to put on your credit card, and that will start accumulating interest as soon as you get back from your vacation. And it's so easy to spend money on vacations. It's so easy to go out to eat, to do all the attractions, and I'm going to tell you right now. And this is my opinion. You might think differently, but I would err on the side of the attractions. There usually something you can't do it home, something that you need to experience their, um, so I would err on the side of going to the attractions over eating out. I would go to the grocery store, get snack items, get lunch, me, whatever you might have to get by, you know? Yeah, you can eat out every once in a while, but try to keep it within reason because we've already shown you how much eating out costs , and it even gets worse when you start going on vacation and you're eating out every meal. Oh, my gosh. You got to think that breakfast items are great. One, you know, bring cereal. Bring pop Tarts, whatever it is that you will eat for breakfast, granola bars, things like that. Don't make eating a priority on your vacation. Make the experience and the festivities of your vacation the priority, and you will save a lot of money with that. Always look for special discounts on items when you go on vacation. If you're going to Disneyworld, see what kind of special they have. You know, a lot of places, a lot of theme parks like that. If you bring in a can of Coke or something like that, they'll give you so much off your entry. Make sure you check all the possibilities there before you venture out and do those exciting attractions. Because I mean, if you take a family of four and everybody gets $5 off for bringing a can of coke, you know you've just saved $20. That may not sound like a huge amount, but that's you know, that could be two or three meals just going to the store and buying food So it's start thinking in those terms. Whatever you can say, whatever you can do, whatever kind of bundles you can do, take advantage of those if they work the way you want. If that's what you're wanting to do, take advantage of those and your vacation will have a lot more fun because, like I said, when we come home and we're looking through the pictures and we're reminiscing about our vacations, we don't think about the places we ate. We think about the fun. We had the attractions, we saw what we did. You know, the theme parks we visited, you know, going to the beach, those type of things. So always, always always air on the side of the attractions and not on the side of heating, because eating out again is a killer, especially when you're on vacation. So enjoy your vacation, but just don't end up paying for it for a long, long time. 8. Always look for Online Discounts: okay. Another great way to say big amounts of money. And this one is because we're so encouraged to buy things on the Internet Now that we almost do all our shopping on the Internet. I know. I dio I know a lot of people that do, and one thing we failed to do a lot of times is look around for discount codes, special offers, things like that. You will be amazed at the number of these that are out there. They're specific websites. Even that will track them down for you. So you don't even have to go looking around to see if they're there. But almost every place online has some special or some discount. Just the other day, I got a flyer in the mail with a 10% discount on my next game is on purchase. You can bet I'm going to use that. I mean, there's so many other things. Take advantage of things that give you free shipping, take advantage of the percentage off. You know, maybe you bundle some things and you can get some great deals. I know Amazon. Some of their grocery will give you incentives back for purchasing certain amounts. Things like that take advantage of anything that's out there for you to make or save you money. I mean, it's a great way to start to really understand how the flow of money works by making it a point to see if you're getting what you're going to buy at the cheapest rate. Compare rates now, especially with the Internet, you can compare rates. Um, like I talked about earlier, I do a lot of my shopping for Walmart through their app, but I can also go on to Amazon. I have Amazon prime account where I don't pay any shipping, and I could go on Amazon and compare and say which one of these is cheaper because neither one of them's gonna cost me any shipping in that sense. So, um, so that's something you can do, do that comparison shopping. We used to have to run all over town and do it. You start to get this store, check it out, find coupons, and then you have to run. The three or 45 stores will. Now they're bringing to your door out to your car wherever you might be, so don't get ripped off just because you're not willing to go and look almost every place. Like I said, almost every retailer online has some kind of discount. Coach, You spend so much to get this off, you spend this much, You get that much off this percentage, All take advantage of those. Just type it in your Google search bar. You know, coupon codes for and then the name of the place that you're going to be shopping from and you will be amazed. A lot of times off, something will pop up. And I'd be like, Hey, you just say 50 bucks and you're like, Oh, gosh, if I would have looked at that, I would have lost 50 bucks in that sense. So as we're trying to save money, we need to take advantage of every source that's available to us on finding these Internet discount coats is a big one. 9. Make Money with a Side Hustle: another great way to save big money is to make a little bit more money. Now, let me explain that a little bit in detail to you. Sure, we all go to our job. We worked 40 hours, week form or whatever, and that's our usual paycheck. Um, so that's that's norm. That's usually what we based our living expenses on. But what can you do to make a little extra money? There are amazing things out there nowadays to help you make a little extra money. Um, 1st 1 I'm gonna tell you where I make a lot of extra money is fiber dot com. I do little gigs on Fiverr dot com, and I make $45 at a pop. They take me about two or three minutes to complete, and you know, that's money that I have to put on things that, you know, maybe my house payment. You know, we're talking about doing that extra money for your house payment. All my extra fiver money goes towards my car payment right now so that it's driving my car payment down at this point. And once I'm in the process of buying a new house and Once I get a new house, all that money will start going there to start driving down that money that I owe on those items and save me big amounts of interest. But there's lots of other things you do. Maybe you can mow your neighbor's lawn. Let's go old school. Maybe you Camille your neighbor's lawn and make 10 bucks a week or something. That's 10 bucks that you have that you wouldn't have had that you can use in a way to save you big money. Um, another thing is, affiliate marketing could be huge for people.
