1. Intro to Planning: hello and welcome to another skill share class. Today's video is going to be how I do a quick monthly overview and a weekly overview in my planner. I like to sit down at the end of every month. So right now it's the end of July and go ahead and go through my month and go through and plan some things out that's going to make every weeks planning easier. And it's also going to give me a good idea of what I want to accomplish this month. So if that is interesting to you, go ahead and click on to the next portion of this class, where we will start with the monthly overview. 2. Monthly Calendar Overview: All right. So in this part of our sculpture class, we're going to be talking about the monthly overview in my planner. So I if you are curious, what planner I'm using This is the happy planner. Classic planner. I am a giant having planner. Fan, this is my 2nd 1 I've been using it for over a year now and adore it, so we're going to do an overview of August. So first of all, it's just a basic calendar overlay. A lot of planners have something like this. You don't necessarily have to use this specific planner. This is just what I am using. So for the monthly planet, what I like to do is I want to go ahead and write down all appointments, birthdays, all of that stuff for that. I did pull down my Disney Well, calendar and I have, like birthdays, I write down my appointments and stuff like that. So I am going to transfer those inch this planner. So let's go ahead and just start by doing that quickly. I also when I worked a job with specific shifts, I would go ahead and fill in all of my ships as well while I'm doing that Things to consider. When you're filling this out, make sure you have all appointments right now. Doctors, appointments, a work schedule. If you have one that fluctuates, go ahead and write that down. Um, any commitments you've made to friends or family? So this is the very began. The months I don't have a lot to write down so far, but now we're just gonna go in. The happy planner always has a section to read out goals. Even if your planner doesn't, I would suggest writing down like your top 3 to 5 goals for the month. So that way you are thinking about what is going to help you grow. So these give me things that you hope to accomplish that month trying to make these items that are actionable things. You can act on it right away. So whether it's you want to lose £5 you want Teoh goto Esther in class every week. You want to learn a new skill. You need to really get this. You know, you really need to get give your house a giant makeover or clean up your entire house and do like a deep, clean go ahead and just think about those right now while you're at the beginning of the month is that way you're working towards all of them and all of your weekly planner steps. So for me, my first goal is I want to publish one skill share class a week. I really want to rethink my Instagram planet because of my instruments of kind of kind of gotten stagnant. So I really want to go over them again and just rethink the plan. Learns with new skills. Okay, so now that you've thought about equals and your monthly overview, go ahead and fill in anything else that you may have thought of. So, yeah, this is just a basic overview Weekly is where we're really going to get into a more in depth portion. So let's go ahead and jump to that part of the class now. 3. Weekly Planner Overview + SETTING UP A Weekly Checklist: Okay, so let's go ahead and dive into my weekly overview. This is where everything gets a little more specific. What I suggest you start with is making a checklist, so I have both a biweekly and weekly checklists. So every two weeks or so, I like to check to see if I need to mail any birthday cards right me out for the next month . I like to clear off my laptop onto my external hard drive charge. My headphones clean off all of my phones, laptops, all the tech stuff like it's really dirty. Check analytics. Send Grammy a card, and I also like to plan in some mindfulness things, whether that's trying a new class, making a new recipe, scheduling a bubble bath, that sort of thing. So every week I look at this checklist, think about what I haven't done recently and add that into the week Somehow. Then I have a weekly checklist where again, you want to add in any appointments birthdays. I like to meal prep once or twice a week. I like to schedule which days I'm going to fitness classes, my up loads, any due dates, deadlines. If you're in school or you have work deadlines, etcetera. I like to schedule days for laundry and cleaning the bathroom specifically that I always work on a sculpture class for each week. So I like to plan that out. Schedule what hours I'm going to be working. Each takes. I have a flexible work schedule, but like just schedule them into my week that we don't get behind. I always like to try to learn a new skill each week, and then I try to plan a and added it my videos ahead of time for you to even skill share. Plan any filming special chores. So you know, if you need Teoh, wash your comfort or wash the windows. Do a specific cleaning thing. That's something you maybe don't do regularly. Add that in and then I also like to add self care as well. So go ahead and take a piece of paper. This one's really nice because it fits into the Happy Planet rings. So I put it right at the beginning of my planner. So it's just there to reference each week as I'm planning. So here's the weekly overview. It's pretty basic. It just has a Monday through Sunday schedule and then a place for notes. I do like to decorate mine a little bit, but I start feeling everything in. So what I'm going to start with first as I'm gonna add in any appointments. Okay, So after this, I go ahead and I schedule times for laundry bathrooms. So I usually like to clean the bathroom on Friday. That that way, it's all nice and clean for the weekend. Then I usually do laundry on Sunday as well as putting down time to schedule my next week out on Sunday. That's usually my planner day, if you will. I also like to write down church. So I remember that I will be gone in the morning, Okay. And then I'm gonna go ahead and write in which days I'm going. Teoh work out at my fitness class. So that is going to be on Monday, Wednesday in Friday, this week s I've written down which days I'm going to the gym for fitness classes. Next, I want to think about when it would be a good date to meal prep. Okay, then. One of my weekly goals is to have a social class up weekly. I usually upload them on Saturdays. So I will jot that down is that I remember to work on my skills share class. I'm gonna go and jot down which hours I am gonna be working for each week. So I'm going to be working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday on. And then for my YouTube channel, I have a five day week couple of schedule, which is from Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. So I'm gonna go ahead and jot down to upload those days. That way, it's just front and center. Another thing I do for my YouTube channel is everything ahead of time. So planning for the pre uploads, which is on my weekly checklist right here. So I'm going to go ahead and batch at it like I typically dio. So for me, that's probably going to be more on Tuesday. I usually do on Monday, but I have both the fitness class and a dentist appointment that day, so that's gonna take up a chunk of the morning. So I'm gonna go ahead and edit three videos on Tuesday and two more on Thursday. So I love my name. I do label these 1234 and five for the five videos a week for you to I'm also an ad pick monkey down on Thursday And what I like to do with the editing, as I will batch all five of my thumbnails in one session on Thursday. That way it saves time. If you are interested in how I added my pic monkey thumbnails. I do actually have to steal share classes posted on that. So definitely check that out. If you want to see how I had it. My thumbnails. Okay, so I also have on my weekly checklist to do meal prep. So I'm thinking about what day would be good for that. And Tuesday is going to be a little more open than Monday, so we're gonna meal prep on Tuesday, and I personally have a Pinterest board with a bunch of meal prep ideas, so I just pulled from that for my weekly inspiration. Another thing on my weekly planning checklist is any special chores. So I really want to wash my betting this week, so I'm gonna add that down to Sunday and put a note for bedding so that I remember to do that on as Well, I always like to learn a new skill each week specifically for YouTube. Instagram still share that sort of thing. So I'm going to jot down for Wednesday toe research some new ideas for my instagram and YouTube. So I'm gonna jot that down. That's one of my monthly goals, and I'm going to start doing it this one Saito to focus on. I'm also gonna now look at now that I have most my work appointments right now, I'm gonna think about what days would be best for me to film. So, looking at this, I usually film on Sundays because I get pretty dressed up for church. So we're going to write that down. I'm also going to take time to film on Wednesday. I have a good gap of time. There's a a lot written down to start yet on that. So for now, we'll add those in there. I usually will add another day of spontaneous leaks. I like to film, and I always have stuff pre uploaded. So I'm not like behind right now. So next thing is, we're gonna look at that biweekly checklists and see what own here. Haven't I done? I did do my birthday cards last week, but I have not cleared my laptop or cleaned off the tech stuff in a while. So I'm going to jot down it to make sure when I clean that I clean off my technology because that stuff gets surprisingly dirty. I also want to take a good look at my analytics. This week's I'm also gonna jot that down to look at and we'll clear off the laptops this week as well is that they are tiptop shape now. I also like to use the notes section right here. What I like to do is all write down goals. So, like larger themes. I want to make sure that exercise five days this week. So I have already written down three days for my fitness classes and I'll work out two times at home. So I'm gonna write down on those days. Well, what days I want to work out that way. I have it in my head, so I'm gonna plan to work out on a addition to the three. Fitness is I'm gonna plan to work out on Saturday as well as Thursday. And that gives me Tuesday as a day off in the middle of the workouts. That way I don't get too sore. I also want make sure that my new skill share classes published. So I'm gonna jot that down as a general goal for the week. I do have a specific date written down, but that way I'm working towards it as they get up to the week. I always like to chart how much I read every week. So my goal is usually to read two books a week. So I'm gonna go ahead and jot that down here because that's not something that I do write down specifically what days to do. But I want to make sure that that is on my weekly goals list. So another more general goal for the week, as I do want to research instagram and like, different ways to utilize that. So I'm gonna put down Teoh check boxes. I do really to check things off that way, I'll have researched it twice that week. I do already have a research written down on Wednesday, but that way I always check this a few times a week just to see how I'm doing on my over veal. I do also like to track, um, fitness. So I always do a weekly weigh in. Just see how I am doing so. I just shot that down there just to remind myself Another thing I want to accomplish this week is I want to find a new instagram Tags app because the one I'm using right now is not as effective as I think it could be. So I wanna have another checklist as to find new instead Up. I'm also gonna jot down a few days this week that I want to check the skill share groups because I really like to be active in those because I do learn a lot from this. So I'm going to write down um group. And that reminds me to check the skill share groups because I don't go on sculpture every single day, probably every couple days. So I'm gonna check it on Saturday, Friday and Wednesday. Just a staggering a little bit that way. I am on top of that. So I'm always learning cool things and those groups, I also like to write down any errands that I really need to get done. So I know that on Monday. I'm going to be out, and I need to go to Walmart to grab something. So I'm gonna jot that down is a reminder. So overall, I like to use my weekly player as a good overview of the week. I, like, just broke down major things in my schedule. Bigger chores to do YouTube things, skill share, work, Aaron's doctor's appointments, things that that needs to be done on certain days of the week. And then I do actually use a habit tracker for, like daily, smaller things and smaller tasks. But I don't like to put all of those things on each day because it gets so overwhelming. This is just the basic overview of how I do my week. As I get closer to the week, I will add in a lot more tasks. So right now, this is rather light looking, but this is a good overview of what I'm gonna do. I strongly suggest if you're kind of stumped on how to keep track of things for weekly biweekly monthly to just make yourself a checklist so that you don't forget these things, you know, so you don't forget about your classes or uploads or due dates. Just make yourself a checklist. That way. Every week when you're planning, you can pull it out and it's right there as you're going through and making sure that you have all of these things. 4. Final Points About Using A Checklist: I really want to make a point that you really do want to check and think about your big goals in life. What is it that you want to do this week or this day that's going to get you closer to your overall goals? So for me, one of my goals is to have a successful YouTube channel. So I want to make sure that I'm always learning and trying something new at least every week, if not a few times a week. That way I'll really grow and learn more from what I'm doing. Because if we just, you know, if I just write down OK, make sure you upload. Make sure film at your videos. That's all really good. That's maintenance. You want to make sure you're posting, of course, but I also wanna learn new techniques. I want to learn about new APS. I want to learn about new ways to rank my videos. So that's why every week I make at least one or two days about doing research, even if it's just for half an hour, you can really learn a lot in those days, and that really helps me to remember to learn new things and to not just be doing the same thing over and over and over again. I'm a big fan of the expression, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting something new is is basically insanity. I don't think I'm saying that quite right, I'll put it on the screen. But I really like that expression because it does remind you that if you do the same thing over and over and it's not as successful as you want, you want to make sure on a weekly daily, even at least monthly basis, that you are doing something new. You are changing up your marketing or how you do your thumbnails or how you, you know, just talk about and film your YouTube or skill share or whatever it is that you're passionate about. So that's something I really want to make a point of, because I feel like so often we look at our weekly goals and it's like, Okay, I have this essay do here and I have to work here and I need to make sure that I do this year and I have a class here and that's really good you want to make sure you have all that written out. But you also want to make sure that you have tasks on your planner that are not just things that have to be done. There are things that are also going to grow you and improve you and make you stronger and better and get you into those larger goals in life. So whether that's taking a new class on something that's really gonna help you, whether that's researching something, trying a new app for your instagram to see if that will help you rank better, etcetera. So that is the end of my overview. This is just quick and easy, Ideo. I'm gonna go ahead and decorate this a little, but I do like to add a couple stickers in just to make it a little more cheerful and fun and motivational. But I just want to show you the basics. This is the skeleton of my week, as I say I will add to. This is a go, and as I see how the week is turning out, do continue to add to this. So right now it's Saturday before this week, so I like to leave this open on my desk that way Saturday, Sunday, even Monday, I'll be like, Oh, yeah, I want to do this to and they will add it into my planner. But this is the basic skeleton of my week. I'm very excited about how I do. My planner. I've really found this to be a very just effective easy doing this. And the monthly overview now that I've done it quite a few times, usually takes me only half an hour on Sundays. So it's not super time consuming, and I feel like I'm so much more control of my week again. I really advise you to use the notes section or a section in your planner somehow to have overall goals for the week as well. That are not just the basics that you have to do that day. So, yeah, that is going to be the end of the scale. Share class. Please leave us a comment down below.
