BASIC CROCHET EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

BE SURE TO POST YOUR PROGRESS, QUESTIONS AND FINISHED PROJECTS - I can't wait to see!

This quick tutorial will walk you through making this crochet maple leaf.

Notes for Beginners:  Choose a yarn which is a light to medium shade.  Dark colours make it difficult to see stitches.

Be sure to count stitches in each row: As a beginner it is incredibly easy to add or drop stitches.

Keep tension loose: Even though no specific gauge is required for this project keeping a relaxed hand will keep your stitches easy to work with opposed to pulling them too tight and making it a struggle to insert the crochet hook.

Use Acrylic Yarn and Non Tapered Crochet Hook:  This last point is really preference.  Although washcloths are normally made from cotton they also turn out great in acrylic.  It is also nice too to have yarn you can use for additional project and acrylic is great for cup cozies, hats and scarves as well.

If possible use a straight or non-tapered crochet hook I find much easier to use than a tapered allowing for a smoother motion.
