About This Class

Do you feel your designs look flat and lifeless? Would you like to make them more interesting but you're not sure how?  Would you like to learn how to create designs in Adobe Illustrator that have texture?

I believe textures can change the overall appearance of a pattern and add dimension to an otherwise flat design.

In this class I will show you how to create your own unique textures using pictures and either Photoshop or Procreate to turn the pictures into black and white, and then I'll show you how to vectorize them with Adobe Illustrator

I will also show you how to add texture not only to your background but to your motifs as well (using Procreate and textured brushes that are included with the app), so you will be able to breathe new life into your patterns.

I will also show you how to create a half drop repeat pattern in an easy way and how to apply your texture to it, and I will share some of my insider tips along the way.

The skills you'll learn in this class are transferable and you'll be able to apply them to many more other projects, and not only patterns; such as these illustrations for example, which I created with the same process...

If you take my other class How To Self-Publish A Low Or No Content Book On Amazon KDP For Beginners you can even use the pattern you create to make the book cover!

This class is beginner friendly, however a basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Procreate would be helpful.

You will learn:

  • How to find texture in the environment around you
  • How to process your texture images in Photoshop, Procreate & Illustrator
  • How to apply your texture to your patterns in Illustrator
  • How to apply texture to your motifs using the iPad
  • How to create a half-drop repeat in Illustrator
  • How to save your file to upload it on Spoonflower

By the end of this class you will be able to create your own unique textures and textured motifs and use them to create a half-drop pattern that you can upload on Spoonflower or POD websites.

1. Class Introduction: hi there and welcome to my new class how to create a health drove repeat pattern with texture in the easy way. I thank idea. I'm a surface button designer on illustrator and a bit of a free spirit. You feel like you're the signs look a bit flat and lifeless and you would like to make them a bit more interesting. But you're not sure. How would you like to learn how to create the signs with texting or using Adobe Illustrator instead of for the shop? Well done. You are in the right place. I believe that textures can change there were, or appearance of a pattern and at some dimension to a pattern that will be otherwise looking quite flat in this class, I will show you out to create your own unique textures, using pictures that you can take yourself and using either for the shop of procreate to process the pictures. I'm gonna show you out to victory eyes thes using Adobe Illustrator. I will also show you out what takes, you know totally to your background but to your motifs as well. So you will be able to breathe new life into your patterns I will also show you how to create 1/2 trope rebate in an easy way and how to apply your text years to it, and I will share some of my insider tips along the way. This class is beginner friendly, but a basic knowledge off adobe illustrator for the show and procreate would really be helpful. So you will learn out to find Tex here in the environment around you how to process your text, your images in for the shop or procreate and illustrator. How to apply your text year to your patterns in illustrator. How to Apply Texture to you. Motives. Using your iPod and the procreate up and how to create 1/2 drop Repeat in Illustrator and then how to save your files to upload it on spoon flour for some. By the end of this class, you will be able to create your own unique textures and texted motives and use them to create a beautiful half job pattern that you can upload on spoon flour or or the pure D websites. So let's get started 2. Class Project: for your class project. I would like you to take some pictures of interesting textures and then convert this pictures to text here in for the shop or appropriate Joe texting motives in procreate, he much trace them and then color them and then create 1/2 drop. Repeat using your text Year two Motives and texture as a background. Please upload your digital photos for the Texas before and after, and also your pattern before adding the texture. And after, I really cannot wait to see your beautiful patterns. 3. What you'll need: Hi there in this. Listen, we're going to see where you need for this class. So you will need adobe for the shop toe process the pictures toe attorney in, turn them into texture and then send them to Adobe Illustrator on. You need illustrator to create the pattern they actually after up. Dr. You need to procreate if you want to do de motives with that text here like I'm doing on. Do you need a iPad? Of course. In the pencil. Now it doesn't have to be the apple pencil. It can be just any other pencil. But I like the apple pencil because it's pressure sensitive, so it gives you the extra option. And then, of course, you would need pictures to use to create your textures. Can be pictures off tree bark. Things is actually the stock of a plant, more bark, different textures and even travel. And you will see how these actually looks really good when he said turned into a texture. OK, so let's have a look out together. Images for your textures 4. Gathering Images: Hi there. In this lesson, we're going to talk about how to gather images to turn into your textures. I find that the best thing to do is go for work in the woods over a park or gardens, quite like going to Kew Gardens, because I'm based in the UK, and it's a lovely place to go and so much there to photograph. I always come back with hundreds of pictures, no matter what time of the year it is. It also, it's good to look. A tree backs most gravel leaves. For example. This is some just payment that is, has got cracks in it on duh yes of gravel so everything can be turned into a texture. There's so much out there. If you really look, you can find lots and lots of inspiration to turn into a texture, and then when you need to do is you can build up a library in your computer over phone and categorize your pictures into groups, so it would be much easier to find them when you need them so you can take your pitches with your phone and send them to yourself with a knee male, for example, and then you will have a slowly a library of pictures that you can just go toe en turn into textures. So now it's your turn. Just go outside, take lots of pictures on our fun. 5. Process Your Images in Procreate: Hi there. So in this lesson, I'm going to show you out to process your images in procreate and turned them black and white. We procreate if you don't have for the shop. This is one way you can do this. So I opened a new document and it doesn't matter. Decides at this point. This one is a 10 by 10 inches, but it can be any side. We need to add the picture. So we are going click into the little range tool and add and insert photo. And then we're gonna look for the picture that we want. We can make it a bit bigger. Make sure Magnetics is selected when you enlarge a picture because otherwise it distorts it . And then what we need to do is we need to duplicate this layer, and then we need to create a new layer. And this one we're going to fill it with white, so opened the color wheel and double click on the white and then click on the layer and filled layer. And we want to put this in between the 1st 2 layers and then on the top layer. You press the end and you scroll down all the way to luminosity. Andi, that's it. That's your black and white picture. And now you can email the picture to yourself, so just share it as a J pick and send it as an email. Or you can use the dot books if you like, and that's it. We're ready to move on to the next lesson. 6. Process Your Images in Photoshop: Hey there. In this lesson, I'm going to show you out to process your image in for the shop. So we have the image in for the shop. Now, the first thing we need to do is to the layer is already unlocked. I would have looked this one as well. Aan den. If it's locked, just you need to look it and then go to image and mode on a gray scale. Okay? And this will take out the color off your image, and then we need to go to the adjustments panel. So its image adjustment and levels on we get this pop up menu here. Panel Andi To increase the level of white, we need to use the right triangle. So here, basically, we need as much white and as much black as possible and try to exclude the grace. So with the right hand side triangle, we were increased. A white camel white with a left triangle. We can increase the black. We can play around with this until we're happy with the damage which I think this one is quite good on, then. Okay? And then we need to flatten image. Eso right. Click on the layer on flat an image, and whether it's left to do now is to save it as a tiff. So we're going to file save us. And which shoes somewhere here, There. The last one tiff. I'm Could it? Thanks, Joe. Um, I'm never really change anything in here. Okay, Andi, that's it. Really, Ever even just ready to be processed in Adobe Illustrator. 7. Image Trace the Texture: way. So now we're ready to process the texture that we created in illustrator eso. We just need to image trace it. So we create a new document and at this point, it doesn't really matter. Uh, what sites? The document is I just going to leave it this 1 1000 by 1000 but it doesn't matter. So create. And then we need to place that file we just created. So it's control shift P o command shift. Andi, Um, we go into right folder. Andi, I couldn't know the texture as well. Eso we can, Mr Tracer both of them. So click on both of them and then place Onda. We can just drug image like this. That's one on this this 2nd 1 All right, so like it this one out of the way for now. So what would he to do now is to open the image trace panel and if it's not here, it would be on the window and image trace. And then we can live it us default, and it will live in black and white. Andi need toe open the advanced on part here with the little white arrow and click in Nor white. Andi, let's click preview so we can have an idea what it looks like. We can now play with a settings so weakened duo Ah, more or less we can increase the threshold Play with parts with the corners So here it gives a bit more than texture. If they would lower, I would give you less black So it's really a matter off personal preference how you leave your texture And then when you finally happy with how your image looks, you can just go into expand and this will set the image as it is. You can't change anymore unless you bring it back in like we just did. That's it. So this is your first takes you so we can put it on the side and then you make it a bit smaller. Uh, let's see what this one looks like. So we go into ignore white on preview. Um, yeah, this is no bad idea. So we can play with the special see who get a A bit more off the black? No. Yet maybe less parts. That looks quite good, actually. And then again, expand on your images. Really? And then you come. Give it a color. Of course, these are a bit gage colors, but you can change the color and you can use it as a background texture. Okay, way ready to go to the next lesson. 8. Making the Colour Palette: Hi there. So in this lesson, we're going to create a color palette onda dough that I usually use some pictures that I find on the internet. So I'm going to do control, shift, P toe place the pictures, Onda We can use it because we're actually going to copy the pictures. We're just going to use the colors. So it doesn't matter if these are, uh, pictures that you just find on Google, for example. So I'm just going to place the pictures. Yeah, okay. And the next thing we need to do is to create some squares we can use for the color. So we go to the rectangle to which is a moon your keeper on If you click and drag and if you old shift, you give you a square, you don't have to use a square. But it's quite I quite like it. So what I do is I just give it a but this one. I give it a feel color so I can see the square and then click and drag press old and press shift so I will keep it in the same direction here and then once you've done this one time you can click control D, and this will repeat where you've just done. So you will have a few squares to play with And of course, you can select them all and copy them under the side. Just hold old built key and shift aan den if you select generally, I tried to pick between 86 and eight colors. You can have 10. Maybe it depends on the complexity of your final pattern. So we can select the first box on, then with the eyedropper tool, which is I on your keyboard. Or you will find it here on the left as well. You can start choosing colors. I found this nice sort of purple e color, which is quite lovely. It makes a change from the usual white on duh. You want really a selection off colors from light to dark and then sort of middle color. And also some neutrals of world is quite nice to have to selected the next square. You hold the control key or the command key and your cursor. We become the selection tool against So select the next square, then let go of the control. He is good enough to keep switching on manually, and then you can choose another color. So we have the dark one on, then something in between. We're something like this. Maybe, and then we can just some greens in this point back. So sometimes the eyedropper tool doesn't really pick the color, do you? You think you would pick? But there is another way to pick colors I can show you. So we have a light color. I'm using this one. Now, this picture, they can use speeches like different ones. You're enough to use the same one, Onda, Um though the way we can pick maybe some neutral from the white flowers. Is this so almost like a gray? Now, that's interesting. This is what I mean when I say it, Biggs colors that you don't even realize that there this looks almost like a blue. And then another way to the I used pick Nicholas is to go to the swatches panel and go to his wash libraries menu. And he had these color books on bond. There are some Pantone books, which is unfortunate is not the very expensive ations that you you buy, but it gives you a big selection selection off colors You can see here this loads of colors to choose from. Onda. What I like to do is I put the square. Maybe not that one. Next to the color I like to pick, let's see, maybe a green one of these greens and then scroll down to the green colors and then start picking colors until I find something that sort of looks like the green that I'm looking for. So it is actually not not a bad green. So I can put this back here. Maybe this one. So we want a light green. Let's see. So there is a difference between the first and the second being, which is quite good. And then maybe we can have from here a dark and green. Just have the option if we want to. Uh, yes. I think these are enough colors for now. And then when you happy with the amount of colors that you have, then select all of your swatches. And of course, you can always add more colors. You keep the pictures, say, then you can add more. So select all of your squares here and then you go. Today swatches, panel and you go to the little folder nuclear group and you can rename this you can leave. It was a call, a group. You don't have to rename it and then click. OK, I knew we love your colors here. One thing I didn't mention. If you put a stroke on the square here, you would have the color of that stroke in your color group as well. You can always delete a color from there anyway. But just be mindful when for that And then if I get rid of these other colors that I never use so you can click on one color, then hold shift and click on the last switch and then just drag it to the being. Uh, I think I'm gonna do the same with these ones. Okay? So sometimes I just leave these. They might be useful. And then you have your new color group on what you can do. You can actually save this if you want. So you go to the little menu here on their left of sort of the right, and, uh, you save it as, ah library as a I on you condone. Give it the name that you want and then just safe. And this means that if you open a new document, you will be able to find it in your library. So you go to the library here and you go to use a define on ago loads here because I've been working with illustrated for a while. So if you don't see it in the list, you just scroll down and they're this lily of the valley, and when you click it, it will appear. And then you just have to click on the little icon and you will just fade here in this watches panel. Andi, I think that's it for the color palette. You're ready to go to the next lesson. 9. Add Texture To Motifs With Procreate: Hey, guys. So in this lesson, we're going to prepare our motives toe work on them in Illustrator. So what I usually do is I do like a sketch. I use my six b pencil on them a sketch, the motives either directly here or you can even sketch them on paper, take a picture and then trace them on your iPod aan den. I do different layers in a chase, every single motif in a different layer. Soto, keep everything separate. And this is important because if you have motives, the touch each other for somebody, there's a gap here in this leaf. And if I switch off, the previous layer can show you better. This is because this leaf is gonna be on top of this one, and this life is gonna be on top of this one or the other way around. But anyway, the leaves are going to be on top of each other. But if I do that here, it would fuse the lines together when I am traced them on Illustrator. So I want to keep everything separate just to have that flexibility of working so changing colors. Maybe I might do everything the same color, but I don't know yet. So I just prepared to keep everything on a separate layer Is so much easier to work like that. And then once I have this case that the like traced this motives wait and show you drag. So I used the drying because he gives that look that is kind of distressed, so I can make this bigger, so it gives it this texture. And when you do the lines, you have this sort of broken lines. Now, one important thing to consider is if you want to color these in illustrator with the back it too, you need to have actually close lines. So you need to use, ah, days, for example, the technical pen which gives you, um, nice, sharp, close line. So don't leave spaces like that because illustrated will see the space, and it will not let you color it with the back it'll But in this case, I'm not going to use the back. It also I like this sort of distress. Look, yes, I used to drink, and then once I chase all the outlines again in different layers, I do the coloring. So these are all separate, so I could put them all in the same layer. But they didn't touch each other. And for these air used a artist crayon, which again gives, uh, keep doing that gives Ah, sort of distressed, sort of look gives it texture. So I color everything in black because then you can just change the color in an illustrated the way you like. And, ah, basically what I do, I just do a new layer and show you just the sides of your brush. Andi, just call. Oh, cornering the shape basically and again, it's important to keep if you want to use different colors to keep this layer separate from the inside, so you don't want to call her both in the same layer unless you you're going to use the same color for both. And that I used so one layer for the outside and another layer for the inside Andi. In this case, I left the outlines in the little flowers in the same layer because they don't touch each other, so I can still aided this separately if I want, because they're not touching each other and that's it, really, that's the way toe color your motives when you want toe to use this technique, so you just color all of them are no going to do it here because you would be bored out of your wits. Just looking at me coloring this. But that's how you do. So one layer you don't outside the new hit the plus sign Another layer you today inside. Now, one thing I do actually, when I called her differently is But they touch each other is good too dim one of the layers that is already done. So you you put the opacity down and what that lets you do is let you see where your color. So if you go on the other layer, you will see it here. And you could just give me the day excess Ah, color. So that's another trick. Just remember to bring this back when you send your file yourself on. This is the next step. So you have all your of your years selected and what you do next is go today little wrench toe and go to share, and you share as a pasty, because that way you will keep all your layers and separate when you open it in Illustrator , and you can work with it as you like. If you send it as a J pig, it would flatten your image and the layers would be lost. So don't send it as a J pick unless you want to send each layer separately. So switch or the layers off and just saying one layer at the time. But you would have to send all these different emails. If it's a big file, you might have to do it like that. But if it's if it's small enough, you just send it as a PST to your email and then open it with Illustrator. If you have a Mac, you can use their job, which I think is much easier and quicker. But otherwise, this is the way I normally do it. Some people might use stuck folks as well. That's another option. So whichever way you like, just simply file to yourself a song as you keep the layers separate. So now we can go toe illustrator and traced a motives 10. Image Trace the Motifs: All right. So I have my file here in my email. So when you need to do is download it. Onda should open a window here. There we go on. Do it would tell you because it's a PST. It would tell you to open it with photo shop. So you need to choose open it with Adobe Illustrator And if that's not selected already, and then click OK, and then it will open defile. It would just take a moment, but it just opens it directly in Adobe Illustrator. And here just, um, choose this Convert two layers. The objects don't flatten them because that would be a single image with the one that we want. We want to keep the layers and here it is. It is so weird Fire with the motives. Okay, so now we can simply chase these to do that, I usually goingto each layer separately and trace it separately. So switch off all the layers and I should The last one is the background so we can get rid of that. Go to image trays on If you don't ever hear, you just goto windows on bond image trace and you would get the little window here. Um, I need to make sure that he selected I leave this to the fault because it's black and white . And if you click on the little advanced I rode their you would get the full window. Onda, we need to create inner white and preview to see what is going to look like on this is actually not bad. You can play with your settings and see if you can get a bit more texture. Maybe that way. So you get more broken lines, you can play with the past. The corner is the noise. Just see where you how you like the best. And then once you're happy with its you quickest expand. And that's the 1st 1 done. So I usually make that invisible Andi work with the other one. Andi, I just do this for all of the Monty leaves. So I think I might just speed up this bit so you don't have to be bored about this bit way . This one here is the takes. You that is going to be our color. So we're doing no white as well, and we see the preview and then here you would have to again play with the settings Just a threshold, because you may want more or less off the texture. If you change, the parts will be a different effect with his mother. Um, so you get more of the text here If you go towards, like, the higher percentage Andi the noise as well. It would give you more sort of white if you go all the way down. So just play with it, see what effect you like. I quite like this one. So I would just hit, expand. They're making invisible do the same thing with the inside of the leaf. Um so no white And that's how I look just a bit more Onda. Uh, yeah, I think you're a bit of noise. Of course, this would change your uncle points as well, so you might want the balance between, you know, but the look of you motives and are many anchor points because that will make the fire bigger. So yeah, and then just expander. So now all of devotees, I've been chaste and expanded. Andi, all we need to do now is actually at this point, that will group because there still grouped so this one actually can stay. Well, we want to separate uh, the these flowers from the outline. So if we like lichen and group, then this fatwas will be separated. Andi, I want them actually old together, separated from the outline. So I get the less 02 which is few on your keyboard. I'm just go around it very carefully. No aan den. We on your keyboard on control g. And now they should be and to get that ok, but that separate from doubt line. So the outline, because these lines are not continues, is also in different parts. So what I do is say move this on the side and I will group this one as well. So control g to group. So now it's just one continuous line. And then put this back in here. And you can do this full or all day motives. I'm not going to show you every single one again for the sake of no boring you. But that's how you do. Basically, you're on group it and then group it separately. Each one on a separate group. So going to speed up this process as well. - Way . - Okay , So now all your motives are grouped and group to the way they should be. Andi, they're ready to be colored so we can use the copulate that we prepared before Andi color all the different on more teams and then sort them out properly. Okay, I'll see you in the next lesson. 11. Colour Your Motifs: and they're so in this lesson, we're going to color our motives. We told them we have created the texture. We have image traced them and we have the color palette. So now we just have to call them, and this is very easy. So I've opened my color palette dedicated before. If you remember, you have to go. If you say that, you have to go to the swatches panel and then go to use of the fine and they look for the colors that you saved so and this little when the will open and then you just have to click on the icon there off the folder, and it will transfer two years, which is panel. And now you just have to color your leaves. Oh, whatever you are during. So just trying different combinations may be different colors. So I'm just going to try this for the leaves of the moment and then for the flowers. Uh, if I go closer at the moment, they are grouped. If you want to call them separately, so each flower or maybe a couple of hours with one color and know the flower with another color. You can double click on the flower, and then it would go into isolation mode. If you see everything else is deemed down, so then you can just click on the single elements, and you can color them differently so we can make this DACA miss this color on. Then just make it more interesting, even make that back as well. And then the little branch. We can do it green, and if you double click again, it will come out to their solution. So that way you can color off the elements different way because we kept them in different layers. So it's much easier. Forgive them separate color, as you can see, because we use the iPad with the texture brush we have this kind of texture, which is, if it's something you're looking for, is quite nice. Off course. You can use just a color like a solid color, like we did with the flowers. You just have to color it differently. And if you want to, you fill your shapes with a solid color. You have to make sure that they are closed shapes. It would work on these open shapes, for example. Okay, and that's it. They're just going to keep coloring the motives. Andi, I speed up this part, so you don't have to watch me doing that all this time. - All right? So now you can do your composition with the flowers back into their place, just them to the final touches. And then we are ready to go to the next lesson, which is finally how to create the repeat pattern. 12. Make the Half Drop: Hello. Welcome back. So now we're ready to create our repeat pattern. So the first thing we need to do is to add three more layers. This is a new document is 1000 by 1000 pigs. So it doesn't really matter with illustrator what size you work with. You can always scale it up. Eso I like to work at this sides but you can use different sides if you like. So let's create the layers, Andi. I would call took one guide, then the 2nd 1 we call it. That's him then This one is the background and this would just be a books. Okay, So now where we need to do is to create a where in the box layer to create a rectangle the same science off our at towards a 1000 by 1000 Onda we need to align it today at port. So if you go to a line, if this panel is not open, you can always go to windows and a line so a line to the airport. So lest in top on this one needs to be without any feel and with no stroke does this would be your burning books at the end. And we need to look this because we don't need at the moment and we don't want to move it on. Then we can create a return, go another one. So if you press them when you keep word for day tango and this time is going to be after sides and the same height Andi, I give it a black stroke, and again I would align it to the left and the top. And this will be our guide when we're creating the pattern, okay? And now we go to the pattern layer and we're going get our motives that we created before. So the rectangle here is locked at the moment, the yellow wonder you see at the bottom. So if I select so my motives control, see? Then go here and control the Andi put them on the side for now, I'm going to unlock all So this will look the square control seat on, then have to go to the background layer and control the Andi were lying it and make it the same sides as our at boat. Just to make sure if you're going to properties, you can check here this 1000 by 1000 and is aligned properly. And we're gonna look this as well because we don't want it to move. So if we go to our pattern layer, we can start building the pattern and see, I have duplicated somewhat eaves and I have grouped this together on then gonna just speed up now while I make the repeat with All right. So now we want everything there is on the top here to be on the bottom here, and I can show you actually a little trick that I use instead off going so rightly just for move on the steps. What I do control K on your keyboard. And you bring up this panel here What? It says keyboard increments. We want to move days 1000 pixel down. So you put 1000 here and then way hold the whole turkey and then the arrow down keep. And this week, Opie, your motives straight in the right place. And then if we want to move it just off the amount this time, So control, OK? And we right, 500. Then we select everything on this side and keep hold of the old key. I think it's the option key owner Mark on then the arrow on the left and we can see here that we need to move some of the motives. So this would give you an idea off how to like how everything needs to be placed. So if we move this motive up here, we need to move it the same way the one down here because otherwise it won't repeat properly. So we move it a bit, this side and I will be moved. This so this. I just press all my keyboard. Then you can reflect your motives. So maybe make it a bit smaller. It's nice to have different sides motifs as well. Okay, so now I'm going to delete everything that is on decide and everything is on the bottom. We will see in a minute why that is important on going to actually make the guide invisible . And I'm going to group everything so control G. So now we need to move it. The group tours they right and down, and then again, right and up to create the after so again press old on bond. Right, Pete? So right, arrow and then let go of the old and arrested down. I'm going to repeat these so old and right arrow and then let go off old and go to the top arrow. And we have created the after What I do is, uh I'm group everything. So control shift, June. So I'm grouped. We don't need dais motives here. We don't need anything that doesn't cross the boundaries off the books. Onda. We want everything that isn't the top repeated at the bottom. So this three needs to be repeated. So we're going to change this to 1000 old and donkey, and then everything that is on this side on the left side needs to be repeated on the right side. So select everything on old on the right. So maybe we need to move this little bit. Okay, so we have our pattern here, but we can add the text enough to make it more interesting. So I will opened the file with text indicated before. If you click it on control, see on, then control. We we can put this actually going to delete this. I'm going to make a new layer. They go on in this layer. I'm going to paste. I was 16 so I can make the pattern invisible for the moment and put the texture here and just make it as biggest date books. And then what I do is I give it a color. Well, no, this joke, but in the field on at the moment is the same color as the background. So where we can do is double click on the little square there and make it just a little bit darker. Let's see. Yes, we can see the text, you know, aan den. We can have a look at the pattern and of course, is on the top off the pattern so we can fix that by clicking and dragging this layer with a fixed there underneath the layer with a pattern. Onda, we are repeat. So to taste it, we can select everything that we need to look this to first and then drag it to our watches final. And I'm going to make big square and fill it with other on. Here it is. We have a repeat pattern. We can change the scale so we go to transform scale on I think, the just form object and then we can just scroll down. Need to preview. We can still down with the mouse and we can make the scales muller just of a better look. Uh, how they button looks, so yeah, it looks quite right. I mean, there's something slow things that just maybe something here and there to move. But all in all, it's quite a nice pattern. And they just wanted to show you if you want to use a different texture. So this one here, basically slim, but this away, it fits. The bond is completely. But if we want to use a different Dixon and save this one and this overlaps on the outside perimeter of your books, then you might want to you have tow repeat it the same way we repeated the pattern. So, for example, we could do We could do like this and then repeated on this side. So everything that is in this side will be on this side. It doesn't have to be enough. Drop this one for the text here. It can be just a normal repeat pattern. We can change the color like we did before. That will flick these, make it a bit darker. consider them. You can see that but turned the game if you know that. And if you want, you can on group this and get rid of the excess on this side there and then kind of the same thing, just like it. Here, make a big square and fill it with a pattern. But I do like your partner more. You're Dexia and it's quite soon a lovely texture underneath our leaves. So this is how you death drop Previte. And if you want to have your previous pattern again, we just to do is just jagged. Click and drag it out of your ass. What's this panel and you will love? It's back to the game, and then you can just group it and make changes. You can also scale it if you want. If you hold the shift key, you make it smaller and then drag it back in into the switches. Final in Calaveras Bowler, a scale for your weapons and those two I'm going to hang Group these. So if you would like to upload this pattern into spun plan, for example, what I like to do is to use the ask board when they save it, Onda. And just make sure this is aligned totally select the backgrounds and make it just slightly bigger than the output. So that way, just make sure that this 30 bigger or all around and that way when you exported so it's no dear, just making bigger here. So when you save it, you exported has use the art boat, and this will clip your design all around the world and then make sure is so. I think for spoon, flowers should be nice. I think it's saying like a but is 150 people, just double chickens days require CMA, K or RGB A. Can't remember now off the top of my head, but they require 150 PP eyes so and maybe bake it a bit better quality and then click OK on . This was save it with this extra bit here. Well, you won't see it, but it would make sure that you won't see that white line that everyone is complaining about when uploading the patterns and spoon flour. Eso This should avoid that white line from showing up when you bring you put it. Okay, so I think that's all I continue for now about making after repeat patterns. And if you have any questions, do let me know in the comments. 13. Final Thoughts: thank you for completing the class. I really hope you have enjoyed it. And I hope you have learned new skills and tricks along the way. You would be ableto play what you have learned. This lessons too many future projects, and not only to patterns. For example, I have created these illustrations with the same process that we used for the pattern. So first cholera it in, procreate and then finish them in Adobe Illustrator. And you can turn your illustrations in tow cards, questions and so much more. So please upload your design in the project section so we can all have a look at them. And if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me in the discussion section. If you share your patterns on social media, don't forget to take me so I can see your beautiful creations. And if you like the class, please leave a review. This was would really help the class visibility and give other people the chance to find it . So thank you and remember, create and be happy
