One or even two levels up with the techniques I will reveal to you in this class. I also wanted to thank you for choosing this course. I mean, I know that there's an abundance off course is out there. And that is why I am so grateful that she chose this one. So in rolling the class and start designing seamless batters today 2. 1Welcome To The Class: welcome to the class. How to create seamless patterns using Adobe Illustrator before we dive into the class, let me just tell you what is the goal off this class. Well, the goal of this class is you learning three different ways of using Adobe Illustrator to create a seamless patterns. And in the process, we will use tools ranging from beginner tools to more advanced tools. So the first way to create seamless patterns and the most basic tool and that we're going to be used is called the swatches panel. So we are going to be using the swatches panel to create. To create parents is going to be our first way to create patterns. Now, the second way that is going to be a bit more advanced is by using at the pattern tile tool . And the pattern tile tool is the tool that we can find right here in the object menu pattern. And we're going to use this command off the pattern make right here, and 1/3 way to create patterns that we're going to be exploring is gonna be by using the brushes pounds. So we're going to be creating and the pattern brush. So in order to make our let's say, cooperation seem less as our patterns will be, let's let's make sure that we have all the tools Well, that you have all the tools ready and waiting for you. So make sure that you have the swatches panel in your in your panels on the right, and that you have the Brushes panel as well. And if for some reason you don't have them up, notice that they're part of the essentials workspace right here. And if you will change your workspace or met something up, you can simply go ahead and turn essentials on. Or you can simply go ahead and click reset essentials to to bring everything back to its original state. So first, we are going to be using this swatches panel and notice that we already in the swatches panel have some patterns right here. These are these guys thes thes three patterns right here. But we are actually going to start. We'll go getting deeper into how we use the swatches panel to create seamless patterns in the next video 3. 2How To Use Pattern Swatches: before we learn how to use the swatches panel to actually create the seamless patterns. Let's actually see what does this panel and will have for us pattern wise. So as we already know, we got some three. Well, we got some patterns created and waiting for us right here. So if I just create a simple rectangle and I am going to fill it with any of these patterns right here, you can see that I am that I'm adding these battles and that they are being added as they feel. I'm just going to get rid of the stroke very quickly. So if you want Teoh, if you want to explore what other patterns illustrator has for you, simply go to the library's down here. You can see this switcher to the well in the bottom left corner of the swatches panel and just go to the patterns. Manu right here and you can see we got to three sub menus, so we got a basic graphics decorative and nature. So let's just go with maybe basic graphics. Let's go with Let's go with textures just like so, and notice that as soon as I click on any of these patterns. Let's say that maybe I'm going to click on these sticks pattern just like so. Not only do am I changing the pattern inside my my rectangle right here I'm also adding the swatch to my swatches panel so you can see that I got this sticks swatch right here. And if I may be, choose this guy right here. I am adding this this watch to my swatches panel. And if it's easier for you if it's well, if it helps you in, like looking at all these swatches, what we can do is we can go to this panel menu right here and we kill making simply select a select all unused. And I'm simply going to hit this delete swatch bottom. I'm gonna say yes. And I am left on Lee with them with the swatches that I already that I already well using inside of my documents. So I only have black and white and this and this pattern right here I noticed that if I add maybe this guy right here I am adding another another pattern pattern Swatch, which is called Burlap in this case. So I guess I can simply go to the library's menu. I'm going to go ahead and choose. Patterns may be descended. I'm gonna choose nature Animal skins. Why not? And I'm gonna choose maybe this giraffe pattern just like so. And of course, if I just resize my my rectangle, you can notice that I am also filling and the entire the entire rectangle with my newly created pattern. And of course, if I just may be grabbed the direct selection tool And maybe bring this Onley this anchor point maybe to the right to create something like a triangle, just like so you can see that I am also well, kind like altering the way my pattern My pattern looks so definitely have fun with this with them pattern swatches inside the swatches panel with the pattern libraries. But before we move on to creating that patterns inside the swatches panel, let me just give you one more hand. If you want to change the color of your of your pattern that you did that you just applied from your pattern libraries. If you just go, let's say I'm just gonna maybe changed a fill of it. Let's say that I want to just change some colors about it. If I just maybe, I don't know, choose this red color like so, and I'm gonna click. Okay? This is what I am going to be getting. I am going to simply exchange in the pattern filled with a solid color filled. So if we want to change the color of the pattern off the off the let's column elements off the pattern inside our pattern what we need to do is going to go to the recall, er artwork option right here in the control panel that I'm going to go to the added tab right here. And if you want to change, all the colors will simultaneously when we can do. But actually, what we have to do is we have to link the colors right here. Sounds somebody going to click on this icon. And now, if I just move these guys, these guys around noticed that I am actually changed all the elements off my pattern. And if I want to change on lee some of the colors I'm simply going toe unlinked my harmony colors. And now I can move these these stops right here so I can make my pattern really, really funky. And I can I can made the colors totally, totally arbitrary. So right now my pattern looks more like a like a German colony. The giraffe pattern. So again, if you want to link all your calls colors I mean, if you want to change the colors harmoniously, simply click on this link Harmony colors just like so. And now you'll be able to change all the colors well at the same time and make them make them look harmonious. Of course, we can play around with the saturation and brightness values right here, but we're just remember that if you want Teoh, if you want to change the collar off of the elements of your pattern, you simply need to use the recall er re color artwork option right here. You simply if you just go ahead and change the filled with them with a solid filled Well, this is what you are going to get. You're going to get a single single color field. So in the next video, we are going to talk about creating the pattern, using the swatches panel ourselves 4. 3How To Create A Pattern Swatch: You know what? I've just realized that I can't really be sure what time of year you're watching these videos. So I've decided that in the upcoming videos, we're going to be using kind like themes from different seasons of the year. So since I am creating this class during the summertime first I thought that we could be using some well elements that cannot represent the summertime, the vacation. So in this video, we are going to create a summer summer vacation pattern using this swatches panel and the process is going to be absolutely well, I don't think it can get the kid can get any easier because really, all we need to do is we need to grab from the elements that we want to have as our pattern . So I'm going to grab all these icons that have downloaded too quickly for the purpose of this class from a flat. I conduct com site. So I'm simply going to grab all these guys. I'm going to go to the swatches panel, and I am going to simply drag them into my into my swatches panel, just like so, and you can see that I already have this this watch created and it said it. It is a new pattern, Swatch. All we did was we took these guys all these elements and we dragged them into our swatch is bound to create a new apartment pattern. Swatch notice that if I go to this year to them the swatches panel manual right here, I cannot create a new swatch right here. I can create in your color group, but I cannot create a new new Swatch. Nor do I have a an option to create a new pattern swatch anywhere here. So the same goes is well, you can create a pattern Swatch using Jesus Sam one more time. So all we did was we just grabbed all these elements and we dragged them into the swatches panel to creating your pattern swatch and noticed that if I go to the panel menu, I cannot use this new swatch function right here. I can create a new collar group, but it can not creating new Swatch also that if we notice that if we just grab a simple rectangle to and fill it with a simple color. If I just drank this guy into my into my swatches panel notice that I am actually creating a new pattern. Swatch. I'm not creating a new colors watch. So if we just dragon element into our swatches panel, we are going to create a new pattern. Swatch also notice that if we hover over our power patterns, which we are going to get a very generic name, like a new pattern swatch and a certain number And if you want to change its name to something well, more specific, something that you can will easier recognize your pattern by simply go to the panel menu and go to the Swatch options. And let's call this guy maybe summer vacation. Just like so. So the thing to remember here in order to creating new patterns what's using the swatches panel? All we need to do is to grab the elements of our pattern Swatch and simply dragged them into our into our well swatches panel. Okay, so now it's actually see our pattern in action. So let me just maybe zoom out a bit. I'm gonna move these guys away, just like so I'm gonna grab a simple rectangle tool, and I'm simply going to create a square that has that is going to be something like this and noticed that, too, Since I have my patterns watch selected right here I am filling this rectangle with my swatch just like so. And of course, again, if I make it bigger, I'm going Teoh. And so Well, actually, I'm going to reveal some other elements off my pattern. And now, if I just grab the move, this guy to the right, you can see that everything is imagined. Perfect. That our pattern is actually well, is actually seamless. This is what we wanted. That's what we wanted to achieve. And if I bring these these guys down to somewhere here, you can see that everything is imagined perfectly. So there you go. This is one way off how we can create seamless patterns using Adobe Illustrator. And the easiest way to create a pattern if you want to just quickly create one, is by using the swatches panel. But we don't have a lot of control over the process doing I mean, we can simply drag it into the swatches panel. But what if we want to maybe change some things about it while we are creating our pattern ? And for that, the best choice would be to go with the pattern tool, actually, so we are going to discover how to use it in the next video. 5. 4How To Use The Pattern Tool: Now let's take a look at how it'll create patterns using more advanced tool, which is called the pattern tool. And as you can see for the purpose of creating in the pattern with the pattern tool, I've decided to go with a natter theme. And this time I'm going to go with the Christmas theme. So I got all these icons right here that have downloaded from the flood icon dot com a website, and I'm going to select all of them using that selection to all the bright black Arrow tool , if you will. So now that I have all these guys selected, I'm going to go to the object menu pattern and I'm gonna hit Make. Now, the first thing that you're going to notice here is said this dialog box that it's going to tell you that that the pattern is now being added to the swatches panel. And if you want to see this this style of box popping up again well, every time you're creating a pattern using this technique, you can simply go ahead and click OK, or you can go ahead and check this Don't show again. Option right here. Do not see this. This dialog box popping up every time you're creating a pattern. For now, I'm just simply going to hit OK and notice that we already have all these guys popping up right here. So we are kind of like previewing the pattern that we are going to be created. And take a note at this. This top bar right here. What we can do right here is we can, of course, cancel out of this out of this pattern creation process we can hit done. If we are satisfied with our pattern, we can save a copy, or we can simply go a go ahead and go back and exit the pattern added in mode. So, first of all, let's explore the most important things about this pattern pattern Options dialog box right here. Of course, we can name the pattern right here, so I'm gonna name it, Maybe Christmas Christmas pattern, just like so. It's always a good idea to give your your swatches, your patterns, some descriptive names. And as for the tile type, you can choose from the grid brick by row and noticed that as soon as we change this option right here on the layout off. Our of our pattern is changing, so we can go ahead and choose brick by column. You can see that it kind of looks like it's kind, like slanting a bit. We can also choose hex by column, and we can choose hex by row and notice that each off these options is given us a different different results. Also notice that if you go for any off the brick options right here, so brick by road or bridge by column, you will get even greater control because you can control the brick offsets right here so we can go with 1/4 or maybe 2/3. You can play around with these options all afternoon to get different, to look and feel of your pattern. But notice that it only works with brick by row or break by calling because, well, it's called brick offsets. I guess it's pretty obvious. Also notice that all the changes that you make to your to your pattern it can be previewed in this swatch er preview a window right here. So every time I am changing my my tile type, I'm changing this preview window well. This preview window changes to give me a different different preview off my of my swatch. Now you can also change the with and the height values of your of your pattern. And of course, if we just click this maintain with and high proportions, of course we're going to constrain the proportions and what we are going to be, Well, the proportions off our parents. So if I just may be changed with, you can see that I'm actually bringing all these guys together. And if I am bringing it up, I move in all these elements further away from each other and notice that we would go ahead and click sighs tile toe art. We are no longer able to change the width and the height off our off our pattern. However, we can move the elements by changing the horizontal and vertical spacing. So if I just bring the horizontal spacing up, I'm moving these guys just like so. Of course I can bring them closer together if I want and notice that and notice how this preview window is changing right here. Of course, I don't have to have this maintain space in proportion selected, so I can simply manipulate the horizontal spacing and vertical independently, just like so. So I could move my tile. Will my elements of my my pattern well, independently. I can move them vertically, just like so. Or I can move them horizontally, just like that, to have, like, the ultimate control over the elements off my pattern. Also, if you want to, you can change how many copies you are seeing in your in your window right here. So I'm just gonna go with maybe three by free, just like so you can change the opacity of your copies. So right now, they're set to 50% and you can change them, maybe to 10% if you want, or you can change them to 100% to see what your what your pattern is going to is going to look like. I also noticed this blue box right here, which is called the tile ads, and you can see this option down here that says shoal Thailand. And if you want to see it, go ahead and leave it on. And if you want to hide it, just click on this button right here to hide your tile edge. And if you want to change your tile edge, you need to go to this bottom top bottom bottom right here, which is going called the Parent Tile Tool. And if I click on it, you can notice that we have different that we have, like these handles popping up right here. And if I just click on one and move it around, you can see that I can move my tile at just like so and change it, change it to the way I want. Just like so. So I'm grabbing this This will this hollow a rectangle right here and I am changing. My and I am changing my my tile just like so, so we can see that is actually a lot, a lot more flexible than were than, well, creating patterns with the patterns with the patterns watch. So if you are happy with your with your swatch, if you're happy with your pattern, which you can do is you can simply simply hit done, just like so, and you can notice that it has been added to our swatches panel, and it has the Christmas pattern and name that we added to it. When we are creating it. So in the next video, we are actually going to see how we use our pattern that we just created and how to change it if you want to. 6. 5How To Change The Pattern Options: Now let's take a look at how this this pattern that we just created actually works. Let's see it in action. I'm going to move these guys away. And now I'm going to create maybe a star. Why not? I'm going to create a simple start that is going to look something like so and I'm going to fill it with my pattern just like that. And by the way, if you want to change something Savaglio pattern What you can do is you could simply double click on the pattern on this pattern switch right here, and you can see that we are back in our pattern, a pattern making a pattern making mode. So again we can use all the options that would chose that. We joked that we set before so again it ordered to change our pattern that we created simply double click on the pattern, just like sotto enter the pattern creation mode and notice that Let me just cancel out of this and notice that if I add a pattern that we created with the swatches pounds, So it was the summer vacation. If I now double click on it, I'm also able to change this pattern even though we didn't create it with that with the pattern told that we created just by dragging it into the swatches panel. So right now, I can use all these functions that, well, I consent all these options that I said when I was creating the Christmas pattern just well in the previous video. So I'm going to cancel out of this and maybe I'm gonna just So we considered that it actually is seen less. We are going to create a simple rectangle with our with our will Christmas pattern, just like so and again. I'm simply going to clone it to the right, and then I'm going clothing it to the bottom so you can see that our pattern easy is a seamless better. And we created it well, I think I think the process was easy, But the options that you can set when you are creating your pattern with the pattern told, well, well, are actually quite flexible, and there's a lot of them, so there's quite a lot to learn about them. And I hope that this video was, well, at least an incentive for you to explore these functions will yourself caused by experiment and you will get really good at this. So I think to remember here, if you want to create a pattern using a pattern, a pattern, told. So let me just bring these guys back. Just like so. All we need to do is to, of course, select all these guys, go to the object menu pattern and then just hit make, and then, if we are able to select, will choose from different options. We can, of course, Neymar pattern. We can change the tile type two with and the height or the space in between the elements of our pattern. We can change how many copies we can see when we are creating our pattern, just like so and we are. Of course, we can, of course, did the copies to, well, actually to change the transparency of the copies to Maybe, I don't know, maybe 60% this time. And, of course, we can play around with style. Edge freely if you want to. If you just grab this bottom right here that says butter and pattern tile tool weaken. Simply grab it and move it around if you want to. Also remember that if you want to, it's just a pattern. All you need to do is to simply double click on the pattern that in the swatches panel to bring up this this pattern pattern options right here. So there you go. This is the second way how we can create patterns using Adobe Illustrator. And in the next videos, we are going to discover yet now the way of how to create the patterns. And we will use the brushes for that. We are going to use the pattern brush, and we're going to use their blub brush, so stay tuned. 7. 6How To Use The Pattern Brush Tool: in this video, we are going to create a pattern using a pattern brush. So for this video have decided that someone might be watching it. Well, it's when it's kind like near the Valentine's Day. So for this video, we have decided to go with the Valentine's Day in a theme. So we're going to be using this heart that I've downloaded again from the flat Aiken dot com website. So one note before we start here, when we want to achieve here, are patterns that will allow you to create to even more complex patterns. So, of course, we can apply only, like simple patterns two strokes but toe. Our ultimate goal here is to create a really, really, really elaborate pattern. And you also might have seen YouTube videos. If you're really interested in the subject that advised you to keep your your elements small before, If you are using the pattern a pattern brush technique to create patterns. And let me tell you that it is only partially true. So let me show you what I mean. I'm gonna grab my my heart. I'm gonna move it somewhere here to the right, and I'm gonna make it. I'm gonna make it big. Something like that should do. So I'm gonna simply now cloning to the right, and I'm going to repeat this step. So I get 12345 hearts, five cards altogether, just like so. This should be fine. What I'm gonna do right now is I'm going to select all these guys and I'm going to go to the brushes panel and I'm gonna go to the panel menu and choose new brush. And from the new brush dialog box, I'm going to select pattern brush, just like so. And I'm gonna hit okay now for the name I'm gonna go with the maybe heart pattern, just like so. And I'm gonna leave everything as it's I'm simply going to hit, okay, just like so. And maybe right now I'm gonna maybe make these guys smaller. So they are not blocking our view. And I'm going to simply create and the lips just like so and notice that if I now apply my pattern brush, what I get is, well, an effect that is maybe interesting. You might want to go with something like that. And you might think that those YouTube videos were right. Well, let me tell you that they were only partially right. If I now just go ahead and double click on my heart pattern right here in the brushes panel . Some double clicking moment I'm able to will change some options about my pattern. But you know what? Let me maybe just move this guy bit to the right so you can see everything better. So again, I'm going to double click on it, just like so. And you can see that in here. We got some scaling options right here. So, of course, for the scale option from this dialog box, I can only use fixed. But I can manipulate this slider to change the scales off my heart. So if I go down and down and down and down, you can see that I'm actually changing the look and feel off my pattern. Then if I maybe I'm just gonna do it here manual. And if I just keep going down, keep going down. You can see that I am actually changing even the number of my heart that are actually appearing on my pattern and also noticed that if we play around with the space in the value right here. I'm going to able I'm gonna be able to just the space between sets off my heart. I'm not going to going to be able to change the distance between individual hearts, but only between sets off my heart's. So if it's something that you want to do, If it's well the effect that you are looking for, just go ahead and play around with the spacing. I'm however, going to leave it as zero, just like so And I'm going to leave this Batam well, the size to 25% and the spacing to zero, and I'm simply going to hit. Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and click. Apply two strokes since I've changed my strokes here with the inside the brushes panel. And now if I just go ahead and maybe just the rectangle tool and I'm gonna choose my heart's you can see that I have something something totally, totally different. And of course, if I just go ahead and choose the well, a single heart. So I'm simply going to a hand, go ahead and click on this heart with the direct selection till I'm gonna copy and paste it somewhere here, and I'm going to make it bigger. I'm going to get rid of the street, off the filled. And for the stroke, I'm going to set our hearts just like so to have something something, something like that happened just like so. So a thing to remember here is that if you want to create a pattern brush, all you need to do is to grab your elements like these hearts in this case and go to the new brush option right here in the panel. Man, you choose the pattern brush and then just set your options right here. And if you want to play around the scaling, you can do so using this Using this, uh, this slider, Of course, you can name your no name your pattern, and you can set the spacing right here. So I promised you that we are going to create some more complex patterns using the pattern brush that we're going to use kind like sub patterns for a bigger pattern. And this guy right here is Well, I guess it's kind of a preview for for what we're going to be achieving. Well, but we're going to be achieving that in the next video 8. 7How To Apply The Patterns: Okay, So it's promised in this video we're going to create kind of like a combination off patterns, and we are going to create a sub batter and then we're going to create an ultimate pattern off those smaller patterns. I know it sounds kind of a elaborate, but let me just show you what I mean. I think it would be best. So I'm just gonna grab a simple, well, ellipse talk, and I'm gonna create an ellipse that is going to look something like that. Of course I'm holding down the shift key just like so. What I'm gonna do right now is I'm going to initialize the rotate told by pressing the R key on the keyboard. And then I'm simply going toe all click somewhere here between these two anchor points from somewhere in the middle between these two anchor points right on this path, just like so, what I want to do is I want to rotate this this ellipse. Let's say that I'm going to enter 3 60 the ultimate will count of the copies that I want to have is, let's say, nine. So I'm gonna have to go ahead and create will enter 3 60 Divided by seven. I'm gonna press the tab key, and then I'm going to create the world. Click the copy, just like so I'm gonna press the control or command diferente. Mac, just like so on. And this should be fine. So what I wanted right now is I want to grab all these guys and simply applying my pattern brush, just like so. So as you can see, this pattern looks well, if you want. If you don't go ahead with this kind of an effect, just go ahead. But what I'm gonna do is I'm going to select all these guys. Double click on my pattern brush right here to bring out these options. And I'm going to decrease this value, the scale value to let's see what is going to look. Okay, 5% maybe 4%. 4% should be fine. I'm gonna go ahead and click. Apply two strokes and there you go. You can see how elaborate how funky, how funky patterns we can create. Just just like that. So just as a repetition, let me just let me just grab another. Maybe this. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna grab the polygon tool. And I'm going to create a polygon that is going to look something like so and again I'm gonna initialize the rotate told by pressing the R key on the keyboard and I'm going toe old click on maybe this anchor point And this time I'm gonna go ahead and collect 3 60 by in nine because I want to have nine copies in total. I'm gonna hit copy. And then again, I'm gonna hit control the control de control the control de control de control the and control the one more time And you can see we got to quite an elaborate kind of like a popular must share flower, something like that. So I'm gonna grab all these guys. I'm going to go to the brush in the brushes panel, apply my brush. And as you can see, we're already applying a different, different kind of a different kind of pattern. If you want, you can maybe change at this value even more. If that's if that's something that you want to go for. You can see how how much flexibility you can have when creating when creating this this kind of patterns so right Now that we got that, we got this guy, they will create it. We can again go to the object menu pattern and then go ahead and click make in order to create even mawr. Elaborate pattern if you want to. Cause with this with this object created, we can create a another pattern. So that's why I said that we're going to use a pattern that is going to create another pattern that is going to create yet another patterns. And of course, we can use all these all these functions that we that we just used in the previous video and of course, noticed that in this preview window we are we can see how we can create Well, how our how our pattern is going to ultimately look like and for happy with our design just had done and we get our pattern added to our swatches. And now we can apply toe all the toe, all the elements that we were so so just imagine that Well, I mean, if you had well, instead of instead of hearts, you had so little, maybe flowers or something, you could create well, flower lettuce that this elaborate from from from some smaller for our flowers. So he would create a flower pattern brush and then applied to your element and then rotate and repeated to create a kind of like a flower from smaller flowers. So there we go. This is how you can use This is how you can use well, the pattern brush told to create patterns inside Illustrator. Now the last last will function. The last option to create a pattern brush would be to use the blood brush. So if that's something that you're interested, if you want to know how to use the blood brush to create patterns, just stay tuned. 9. 8BONUS How To Create Patterns With The Blob Brush: so the last way to create batters inside illustrator that we are going to be talking in this class can like a bonus way to create parents is going to use the blob brush tool. Now the blood brush still sits right here under the regular brush tool. This is this guy right here, and it has a shortcut of shift plus B. And if you don't know, let me just quickly tell you how this tool works. Let me just maybe quickly turn the filled to a simple black, so it kind of like what kind of works? Like like a normal brush. But instead of painting strokes, it paints, it paints, fills. So if I know it's simply, just click and drag, just like so you can see that even though that I can see that it's kind of like I have the stroke applied. If I just click on my on my will, object like this one you can set. It actually has a fill, and what's great about this tool is that you can end to your to your creation at some more shapes, will using the will painting painting over your your currently created to shape and currently selected. So if I just know, simply click and drag, click and drag. You can see that I am adding to my selection that I'm adding, adding this black filled to my to my creation, and I am creating highly, highly irregular, highly irregular shape. So in order to create a pattern, it's like this. Of course, we need to have a pattern already created. So this time I'm going to choose maybe my Christmas pattern. Just like so I'm gonna grab the blob brush tool and noticed that if you want to control the diameter of your pattern off your blow brush tool, simply press the left bracket or the right bracket toe on your local key on your keyboard. So right now, if I just click and bait just like so you can see that I am creating a pattern pattern filled and if I just add to my my well creation, I am going to Crewe yet kind of like a funky, funky, funky pattern, just like so. And if you want to create, if you want to create funky, baddest if you want, trade highly irregular shapes and and filled them with parents just like so you can create it easily with the blob blob brush tool, and remember that you can add at will like I'm increase the size of your of your pattern with the brush will simply by painting over your pattern that you created with the blob brush tool to add at elements to your to your creation. So there you go. This is how you can use the blood brush tool to create Kylie irregular patterns or shapes filled with patterns. In the next few we are going Teoh create like a real life project, which is actually going to be also an explanation off the class project. In this class, we are going to create a pattern of from scratch and using all the will necessary document attributes. If you wanted to say create a pattern that she would later on a print out or sand to A to a manufacturer that would that would create like a piece of material that you would use for, Let's say, your handmade project. So this is what we are going to do in the next video 10. 9How To Create A Patterns For A Hand Made Project: in this. You don't. We're going to create a class project. We were going to create a real life project. We're going to create a pattern like you would create if you wanted to have it and handed over to a manufacturer that produces materials that you could use in. Well, say, a handmade project. And this is actually scenario that we went through with the hour with one off our students who creates will handmade boat ice. And she needed this to to learn this technique, to create her well patterns and for herself that she could hand over to a manufacturer that creates materials that she that she makes them, that she makes a handmade bow ties out off. So for this for this project, I've decided to go with this animal pattern. Why not? It's kind of neutral and doesn't matter which time of year you're watching it watching this video. So what I'm gonna do is first, I'm going to create a new document. So I'm simply going to go ahead and press control and just like so and I'm going to call it maybe class projects some since I'm going to be handed handing this this file for you. I am going to Well, to you. I'm going to name it s class project. I'm gonna go ahead and choose the print profile, just like so. And for the size I'm gonna use Think I'm gonna use millimeters omega. I'm gonna use inches for for all of you. For all of you American guys, I'm going to use our imperial matter in system guys. I'm going to use the inches. So for the with, I'm gonna go ahead and choose two inches. And for the height, I'm gonna choose two inches as well and all all the other, all the other will presets all the other options I'm gonna I'm gonna leave as they are, So I'm gonna click, OK, Just like so. And I'm gonna borrow all these guys. I'm going to copy them based on like so And of course, I need to make them just of its smaller to something maybe even 10%. This should be fine. So what I want to do right now is I want to select all these guys. I'm going to go ahead and choose the object menu pattern make. I'm gonna may be turned on the number of the copy down to three by free. And let's see, maybe I'm gonna choose brick by road. Well, let's let's give it some more dynamic. Why not? I'm going to call it animals Pattern, just like so And I'm gonna hit down. Okay, So the manufacturer wanted Teoh wanted a specific, wanted a specific file, and the manufacturer wanted a file that would have, Well, they wanted the corn, and a father would have four by four centimeters. But since we are working the Imperial measuring system, let's say that the manufacturer wants a two by two pattern tile. So what we could do is we could simply create Iraq tangle of and I'm going to simply choose the rectangle toe click on my art board and go ahead and enter two by two. And as you can see that since we set our values will our units two inches illustrator, is automatically given us inches right here. So I'm gonna hit. Okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna change. I'm going to get rid of the stroke, and I'm gonna make sure that I'm aligning everything Toe art board and I'm gonna make it. I'm gonna align everything just like so. So all that's left to do is to simply select my animal pattern, which I believe was this guy. There we go. And the biggest concern of my student waas. If it's if it's actually going to be a seamless pattern If this this tile is repeated, if it's actually going to look all right on the piece of material since she was ordering quite a lot of it socials concern. If it's if it's going to look local, right, So let's actually check that. I'm going to duplicate this rectangle to the right. I'm gonna I'm gonna make sure that they aligned properly, just like so. And then I'm gonna grip both these guys and I'm gonna bring them now just like so. And I'm gonna hit control shift plus H to get rid of the art aboard. And as you can see, our pattern is actually seamless. No matter how many Thais where we are going to add to our to our will pattern, everything is going to be Seamus. Average thing is going to be local, right? So you can be sure that illustrator is not letting you down here, that it's actually creating the pattern. I will properly the way, as you would expect it expected to. So there you go. This is how you can create a, well, a real life project. So just remember, Thio Thio when you are creating your new documents, simply sat your profile to Web there to have to print set your profile to print So you have all these options set properly and just make your with and height will enter the dimensions that your manufacturer is expecting you to, and then just create your pattern as you would normally with. That will make will pattern a pattern to. So this is actually what I would like it to do for the class project. Simply create your own pattern. You can. You can download icons from the flat icon, or you can create your own icons. If you've seen my other videos, my other classes, for instance, on the flat design, you can grab those icons and simply create patterns out of them and show them in our well in our will community board. So I hope you found this glass, and I hope you found this class and while useful and in the next year we are quickly going to summarize what we've learned in the class 11. 10Let's Sum Up What We've Learnt: so before we college day, let's quickly summarize what we've learned in the class. So remember the first way of creating a pattern since had Illustrator remember how we just grabbed all these guys? And we simply and we simply moved it into our swatches panel to create a pattern just like so. So all we did was we grabbed the Alamo, isn't wanted to create a pattern out off, and then we just moved it into our swatches panel. Now, the next method that we used was to crew was to create a pattern using the pattern tool. So he selected all these guys Well, well, it was selected all the elements that went to the object menu pattern and we just hit make just like so. And remember to explore, with all these features, your own cause. This is the only way how you will really get good, good added by experimentation. You will, you will You will achieve perfection, so to speak. So I'm going to cancel out of this and then remember how we grabbed an element? Well, we actually grabbed repetitive elements. We moved to the pattern brush tool. Now, I mean, we moved to the brushes still, and we created a new pattern brush just like so. And then we just applied it to to the strokes off our elements. And the last, the last way to create to create patterns that we learned was to you was by using the blob brush tool. So he selected the blood bristol recently, of course, we had to the pattern, the pattern selected. As you can see, we already applying the pattern right here to our to our elements. So using the blood brush to let me just get rid of these guys. So using the blood brushed weaken simply paint over just like so. And if we want, we can add to our to our selection to recreation, to create highly, highly irregular patterns, just like so. So there you go. These are the ways how you can create a seamless patterns using using illustrator and definitely take a look at them. Definitely experiment with them. And if you like the class, please give it a thumbs up and submit your your own project. I always love to love to look at your projects and to share them because I'm so so proud of them. also in the review section off them of this off this class. Please give your advice. Please advise me on how to make these courses even better. Even battered to you. So it's always see you in the next video and have a nice design. My name is David Kaminsky.
