1. SkillShare Online Course 01 Welcome Video: All right, guys, I want to first of all, welcome you to this course on how to become a superstar student. Now, if you don't know who I am, my name is lush. I am 1/4 year medical student, and I'm about to finish medical school and about to begin my first job as a doctor. Now, this course isn't just for physicians. It's not just from that students. It's not even only for college students. I designed it to where I give you the top 10 tips that I think will help any student, regardless of where on their journey they are. And these are the 10 tips that I wish I would have given myself from high school, college and definitely medical school that could help you get a leg up above your peers if you just apply one of the tips and can take you leaps and bounds if you apply all 10. And so I designed it for it to be a free course because I feel like every student to have these concepts in their tool belts for them to use at any moment's notice. And so I hope that the training really does resonate with you. You may have already have exposure to some of the lessons because I've talked about the my block post in my videos. But I really try to put them all in one place to help you guys out. So if you do enjoy the scores, the only thing I really ask aside from sharing it with anyone else that you think it would be helpful to, is at the very end, I may ask if you want more free training like this. I'll be happy to create a video for you. But without further ado, let's get into the course. My goal is to make them helpful but quick sell, trying to make every video to the point. So thank you guys so much for attending this course, and hopefully you guys enjoy take care guys 2. SkillShare Online Course 02 Lesson #01: are you guys? Welcome to the first course on how to become a superstar student. Now, the first part of being that superstar is to really hone down how to study. Well, now the first couple of videos are really going to give you concepts on it, and this is probably my favorite lesson. I give this to all my coaching students when we first began, and that is to figure out your fluff to impact ratio. Now, this is just a fancy way of saying when we first learned how to study from great school. No one really teaches us a personal weight study. You basically are doing everything your peers air doing, which is like reading the textbook, you know, going in a lecture, rewriting your No. Three, reading your notes. And then you're wondering why certain students do really well and why that method isn't working well for you. And the reason is is that there are specific techniques that you do that are very effective , and then specific techniques that you also do that aren't very helpful, and sometimes it's hard to understand which ones those are. So there's gonna be a work, she after this video that you just gonna fill out What's a really quick XLT? And what I want you to do is to evaluate everything that you do that you would consider a study. You know, if you're in a math class, going to lecture would be one of them doing practice questions would be one of them, you know, preparing, watching videos. Whatever you do that you consider to be studying, go ahead and fill that into each of the taps and then add in the hours that you do every single day you have each of those tax. The exception is going to make a lot more sense. Now, at the very in the week, I want you to evaluate how helpful you think each technique was to your final retention because that's what really we're going after. We want to remember things for a long term and obviously for the exam. So you're gonna give it a score based on the Excel sheet. I give you 1 to 55 being really hopeful, one being not so great, and you want to basically now be able to identify where your fives are and definitely what your ones are so you can take away your ones and do more time doing your fives. It sounds simplistic, but if you are going to class reading the syllabus, re reading your notes, rewriting your notes and then studying and doing all of those and realize that only 25% of everything you're doing is actually helping your bottom line your final grade, then you are not actually applying this concept. So figure out your fluff toe impact ratio. Figure out what study techniques are really gonna lead to your results and just do the excellently down below to get a visual representation of what that is for you. And I promise you, if you just take this one concept and spend more time anywhere from 50 to 60% of your time , doing your fours and fives that they excel sheet shows you your grades, air going to skyrocket and your time your free time is also going to increase. So definitely give the shot. I wish somebody would have told me that sooner, because I would have been so much more productive and free as a college student and definitely is a med student. So give it a shot. Let me know what you guys think, and I'll see you guys next to video 3. SkillShare Online Course 03 Lesson #02: our guys. Now let's get to the second tip, which will also help. You had a study, but really quickly. Let me give you a scenario. Let's imagine that in a week you have to take your driver's license exam, and there are some things before the exam that you're really good at. Let's say changing lanes and some things that you know are probably weaknesses of yours. For most of us, it's probably be something like parallel parking just cause we're not used to it now. The exam was a week away. What would you spend a majority of your time doing now, if you're reasonable? The right answer is to spend your focus on learning how to parallel Park is that way. You don't flunk the exam if you suck on it on testing. Unfortunately, that's not how we study, you know, while it makes sense to focus majority of your time on pillow parking, we don't tend to focus a majority of our time on our weaknesses. It's usually about a 50 50 split. We spend 50% of the time on things that were good at to build confidence in the 50% of our time on things that we just hope don't show up on exam. But if they dio our exams grazed often suffer. So the second concept is to focus on your weaknesses first, and that's a two part step. First, it requires you to have a system built in place where you can identify your weaknesses. And two, it requires a system. We're constantly working on them, so let me give you one example, and then you can watch my videos and my block post to find out other techniques that I also recommend, and I'll link them all down below. But this video so a lovely technique that I love to use for a lot of my coaching students is called the Review Container. Now, most of you guys probably know this, But if you don't when you're going through any of your classes, whether it's math, physics, chemistry, anything in med school, you're going to find topics. So you could be like, OK, that makes sense and the other topics air really going to already be identifiable, as you know, confusing. And they're gonna give you trouble when you can identify those topics from your power points or when you're reviewing your notes keep a little like no sticky note or like uh, index card that you could write that topic in. Let's say you are doing a differential equation in calculus, and you are already getting confused on the formula. You would just write that formulas name or not here on whatever it may be, and then have a container on your desk or have a back and just go in at every little piece of scraps, piece of paper, of these concepts that are gonna give you trouble. Now, every evening, the review container just involved you taking out a few of those cards, that piece of paper and then randomly, you know, looking at that and trying to answer them. So maybe, let's super simplistic. But let's say the concept was the pentagram theory, and you initially couldn't get that down. You would pull that out and tried it right on your whiteboard, or say it out loud. And if you could do it, you know, it comes out of your view container, and you couldn't you just put it back, and the next day you do some more random ones, and over time you'll start to see your weaknesses mawr more often. So this is a great concept on great application of how you can identify your week. This is a really, you know, making review sheets for them and then putting them in your view container and then having a system to review them again. Check out the links down below this video to understand what other concepts you could be using. But this is just a great example of how to apply your weaknesses first, because now, by test eight, you are spending a disproportionate time on your weaknesses, and that parallel parking or that provide you're in there and love yours that's going to give you trouble is going to become more of a strength than a weakness. So hopefully this video made sense. So anyone that studying out of 50 50 kind of ratio try to give a little bit more focus on your weaknesses. I promise you your grades will go up. You'll definitely be more confident going into exams. So that's it for this video. Guys not see you guys the next one 4. SkillShare Online Course 04 Lesson #03: Now let's get into our third tip, which is the combination of a productivity tip, a wellness tip and a stress management tip. Now, if you are busy in school, if you're in college or if you're any type of graduate program, then life gets busy and you feel like you're losing a part of yourself. And there is a sense of burnout and of being overwhelmed that you really hope gets better after you finish school. But I'm gonna give you a technique that I just call schedule you first or more specifically , schedule your fund first. That is gonna help you keep your priorities a part of your life from the very start. Now, basically, the way it works is before you schedule any of your studying for the week, go ahead and find one activity that you want to do every single day. That's anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. And put that in verse and maybe working out hanging out with this person that you really love, you know, from the significant other or doing ah ha be playing a sport is a great example. And just scheduling that inter first, this could be in the morning that evening. But the reason this is so effective is that one your priorities are still a part of your life. So you are still in control, and the things that are important to you are still present. Now go ahead and find those open time slots that you still have left and put in your study sessions. If I gave you three hours to study for exam, you're gonna take three hours. If I give you 2.5, you're gonna take 2.5 so you can still manage to be just as efficient. Honestly, you'll be more efficient with last time and managed to find time for yourself. So scheduling your fun, first, scheduling you versus super important. Especially if you want that sense of balance. Because if you think it's gonna get better over time after you finish school, I promise you won't cause you're gonna developed a bad habit of sacrificing the things that matter to you. So take the habit now and make sure your priorities air scheduled in first and then finding that extra time to schedule and you're studying and your school obligations. So hopefully that is video helped you and I will see you guys in the next one. Take 5. SkillShare Online Course 05 Lesson #04: are you guys? So now Tip number four. And this one is very important and also very unique. And it's what I like to call create your angle now It doesn't matter whatever you feel here , and I want to give you a quick example on how to make a supply. Now my younger brother is our journalism major. He wants to become a sports writer. Now that is an awesome goal. But unfortunately, he was put on this route where you thought he could just finish his degree and then eventually get a job that's going to make him a sports writer. If you know anything about the writing field in the United States, that's not likely. That's because everybody that wants to become a sportswriter probably has a degree in communication or journalism. But he hasn't put anything else on his application that's going to put him to separate himself from the pack. That's the same if you're applying to graduate school. You know, people applying to medical school will often have the same experiences and usually the same generic personal statement and CVS. So you need to find your angle because you wanted to be as easy and stress free as possible to get to that next phase. Doesn't matter if you're playing for a job and internship or further education. You want tohave an angle, which going to make it very easy to sell yourself and not have to worry. You know, I always use this concept when you're sitting across that interviewer, whether it's four job or further education. You wanted to be very easy to separate yourself in the person who sat in that chair before you and the person that's going to sit in that you're after. If you're very generic and it's hard for that person, the interviewer to remember who you were and what made you unique, you haven't done a good job of finding your angle. So what are some examples of ankles? How do you create one? So an angle could be anything from past experiences to interesting hobbies. Toe also something that you decide to develop. So let me give you a good example of what an angle was for me when I was applying a zoo, my first job as a doctor, so I obviously have a YouTube channel. Have a block. Most Met students can't say they have that now. The reason I created all of this is to be able to educate people that I'll never get to meet. But I know probably will benefit from the advice I wish I got myself now. I can use those concepts and talk about them in my interviews, and I did, and it is very easy to them. Look at the rest of my application and remember, you know, Oh, yeah, that's the guy with the YouTube channel versus somebody just says, Oh, you know, that's the guy that worked in the hospital and had really good grades. We all have good grades, and we all want to help people. We have the same goal applications the same, but you want to find that thing that is very interesting. So maybe you are interested in business, and you take a very interesting kind of route to get there. You know, think about your experiences that led you to explore that route past experiences, and if you still don't feel like you have an angle, you can still develop one. And that is just finding an interesting out of the box way that you can apply your current education to, you know, your final goal. So if you want to become a business major, maybe you enjoy a bright you can write about. You know, your business, training your education. You could blogged about kind of things that you're doing to make money or to start a business and kind of basically journal for other people how that process works. That's just an example off my head. But you can imagine having that is going to be very easy to make you memorable compared to every single person that has worked out a very impressive internship on this done. We're really well in school, so find your angle. And if you don't know what your angle this, you know, I also recommend just finding one of your peers, somebody that knows you really well and saying, Hey, what is something that you think is unique about me? And they'll usually give you a list, and though some of them will be generic, but some of them you'll be like, Oh, you think that's unique about me, and if so, you know, you sat to your advantage and see how you can build upon it. Sometimes all we need is a little bit of a head start and then to expand that. You know, I started a block with few block post, and now I have hundreds and lots of videos, and that didn't exist initially. But you can build upon that uniqueness and have you single, and you just want yourself to be memorable when it's time for somebody else to make a decision before you. So when you're sitting in front of interviewer, you want to be not only impressive but memorable, and creating angle is a great way to do it. So if you feel like you're going down the generic schooling around of just taking classes and hoping that job or that future education is gonna be there, try to see if you can make it a little bit easier to sell yourself. So what I'm gonna do for you at the end of this video, there's going to be a create your angle worksheet that I just want you to fill out. It's just gonna help you brainstorm different ways on how, what and how to be unique. So that way, when it's time to sell yourself, it's easy to do so. So hope you guys enjoyed this video. I'll see you guys next one. Take care, guys 6. SkillShare Online Course 06 Lesson #05: 1% better now, over a day or over a week. You really can't tell between a person who's 1% better every day to the person that not even doing anything. But when you go through months and years, somebody who's 365% better is clearly more impressive. That's the motto of this video today, Guys is to become 1% better at anything in your academic or personal life every single day , and it really requires a system. And I learned these through to books which are linked down below. One is called the Count Pound Effect, and two is called The Slight Edge. Both books air super phenomenal and changing. How I look at my personal improvement and really will help you understand how small changes can make a profound difference in your life a year from now and definitely separate use from the rest of your peers. Now here's a simple system. Every single day when you go home from work or from school, ask yourself, How does it go and what can I do tomorrow to make a little bit of a difference? Now I'm gonna become a physician and a few short months and have my own patients. Sometimes those patient interactions aren't gonna go his ideals. I want them to. So I may realize maybe I didn't communicate as well. So my thing that I could do to become better this is just listen a little bit better or a little bit longer and hope that my patient or actions kid 1% better. And not only will that specific patient interaction get better, but then I can use that lesson for all my future patients again. It's a small change people won't notice in the short term. But doing this kind of, uh, the practice every single day is going to help you become, ah, phenomenal individual in just a short period of time. So I want you to find anything you can do in academic and personal and evaluate how you can make small changes and just pick one thing every single day. It sounds very cliche. It sounds very bubbly, and no one really cares. But I promise you, when I reflect back on the things I did in college, I don't really remember the class took. I don't remember my developmental bio molecular bio class it took, regardless of how long I studied. What I do remember is being fed up of how much I was studying and how stressed I waas. And so what I did is try to make myself more productive and study better. And now those techniques have definitely led me to survive and arrive and medical school. But I wouldn't have been able to learn that took yesterday. It took me long, small bits of lessons and trials and errors to get to this point. So you want to be able to transform yourself to the individual that you eventually want to become. That starts with making yourself 1% batter, asking yourself today what you could do tomorrow to make it just a little bit more improved . So hopefully this video motivate some of you guys. It may not apply to all of you all, but I promise you, if you do take this piece of advice by heart, you will become such a different individual in a year and just a few short months. And you are going to continue this practice so hope you guys enjoyed this video, go out and be 1% better today. So today I'm going to give you another what I would consider to be a motivational tip. But it's really also very strategic. And that is to work with the end in mind. Now, one of my favorite quotes is asked what the person that you want to be do the things that you're about to do? I want to say one more time because so profound. I love this quote. Asked how the person that you want to be do the things that you're about to do now, it really makes a difference when you know that in 12 months I am going to be rich. Maybe that's your goal. Maybe in 12 months, your goal is to do phenomenally well on you know, your M cat or to do really well on your S a T. And you are already picturing yourself Is that successful individual? Now what you're gonna be doing is working backwards and asking what step that person would be making on a monthly basis on a weekly basis and definitely on a daily basis to get to that point. So instead of saying I wanna have a really stayed high s a T score and told months saying, I have already imagined myself is that person. Now let's walk, work backwards and get to that point Now it's going to force you to evaluate every decision you make and saying, Okay, this probably not on what that high s a T scoring student would do. Maybe I shouldn't be watching you two video than spending my time on instagram. Maybe I should actually be doing my studies schedule like I laid out to do so work with the end in mind and then you're going to be able to reverse engineer the steps to able to get you there. Now, one practice that I loved doing and encourage you guys to do it if you want to take on this tip is to create one impossible goal for the year. Now you can check out my impossible goals, which will be link down below this video. And those are things that when I first say them out loud, they sound ridiculous. And my brain already says that's not happening. Whatever doesn't make any. I thought of it. But then I can work backwards and imagine that person has already accomplished it and seeing what little things don't have to do to get there. What do I have to do in month one month to month three? We get to that point. So if you want to check out, my impossible goals are you check them out below. Maybe it's to run a marathon and you haven't even ran a five K or around 10-K and see you want to do that in 12 months, it's going to require a lot of effort. Initially, it's going to seem impossible with small little steps here and there. You will be able to get their same language academic journey, whether it's an S, a t, a big exam. You know, you guys get the Jets, but work with the end in mind. Reverse engineer and use some scary impossible goals and see how quickly and how well you can actually accomplish them. Some of you guys may be surprised that some of the gold will set out to yourself, which originally seemed unobtainable, are actually going to be within reach. So definitely give this video a shot in this type of shot and let me know what you guys think. I'll see you guys in the next one. Take it 8. SkillShare Online Course 08 Lesson #07: Do you ever feel guilty when you have a big task that you put on your to do list and just don't get all of it done? And then you feel like you're not productive, You know, that happens to all of us. It still happens to me even when I consider that I sell to be a productive individual. So today I want to give you a technique that can really help one make use more productive, but to also help with that guilty feeling when maybe we just don't get to finish the whole task. And that's this concept that I like to call Pomodoro Chungking. Now you may already know a Pomodoro is Mrs Concept, where we work for anywhere from 25 to 50 minutes at a time, and then we rest for 5 to 10 minute intervals and we basically go back and forth. Now, most of you don't know this, but that's not what this video is about. Instead, I want you to focus on a big task, any something that's anywhere from an hour and 15 to 1 hour and 30 minutes, something that is going to require a lot of effort and It's very hard to start, but it is also very discouraging. What we don't finish. So a good example is, let's say you're viewing for an exam and you need to review to, you know, lectures and that's gonna take you an hour and 1/2. Now if we assume that each Pomodoro interval is roughly about 25 30 minutes, that breaks down your hour and 1/2 to but roughly around four Pomodoro chunks. So now imagine that you're a big one hour and 1/2 task is broken down into a little tax about 25 minute intervals. The nice thing is, is that you can choose to do all of them in one sitting and take the appropriate breaks in between. But let's say you know it's late into the night, and instead of being able to do all for, you can only do the 1st 2 or the 1st 3 This Pomodoro Chungking technique is going to help you not feel guilty, but because what you can do is you can move that last chunk and just move it to the start of the next day. There's a lot of flexibility, and you can spread this out throughout a big day. So let's say you want to review to lectures. But instead of just doing in the evening, you could take a one Pomodoro chunk and put it in the morning. You can do one Pomodoro chunk and put it during lunch time and then do the last two during the evening. And if anything crazy happens throughout your day where you're not able to get it done, they'll have to feel guilty. Does move it back towards the evening and just readjust. This is a great way of breaking a bigger task into a smaller bid size pieces, but also giving that sense of flexibility. So regardless of when it gets done, you feel good, and when it doesn't get done, there is not that guilty feeling of crap. I'm not that productive, and I'm you know I'm getting behind. So try a Pomodoro. Chungking. If you haven't, I promise you is going to definitely help you become more productive and stay in a sense of flow. SkillShare Online Course 09 Lesson #08: so the average person talks at about 100 and 50 words per minute, but the average person listens at anywhere from 300 to 400 words per minute. That means our brains are listening twice as fast. Anyone speaks to us. That means we can also process speech at twice the speed that normal person talks. So today's video is about using speed listening when you can. So if you are streaming lecture or you have the luxury to be able to stream elections to have attending lecture, definitely speed up the lecture to be able to learn the same out information in half the time. So most of you may be saying, you know, there's no way I could remember all of that. Well, argue that you may not really be remembering all that much anyways. Only about 25% of the human population are what we call auditory learners. They learned primarily through listening to lecture or listeningto audio. Now, if you've done the first worksheet from the first video, you're probably able to identify if you're effective. Study techniques are actually auditory based, but if they're not, if you're like 75% you're probably remember anywhere from 20 that 30% of the material. That means if you do a lecture for 15 hours a week, you know three three like three lectures per day and go five days a week. That's really only 4.5 hours of retention from 15 hours of material, but it's not that great. You know, you could be using that extra 11 ish hours to study in a different technique that's more beneficial to you. And so that's why I recommend speed Lessing. One You'll be able to get to through a quicker and to your brain does just is good enough. Job of retaining and comprehending in Bo s O A couple of ways to do speed listing Outbreak down some tools down below the you guys can use. But some great plug ins for chrome existed where you can speed up a video anywhere from 2 to 30 X. Now if you think three X is too fast. First of all, I want to give you Ah, nice method that's helped me train my brain to listen at the re 0.5. Naturally. Now here's how it works when you first are going to a lecture. Let's say your streaming. I want you to first look at what the breakdown of that lecture is gonna be. Just skim it to understand kind of what the flowed argument's gonna be like, What's this start? What's the middle and what's the end this way, when your speed listing, you can quickly pick up on those transition points and know what part of the lecture the teacher is talking about now and spend the first about 1 to 3 minutes to get comfortable with how the person actually talks. Maybe they're fast talker. Maybe there really slow talker, and now you're going to be able to assess what speed you can first begin with. So let's say you know their natural kind of a normal talker, and you want to go to about two X. That's probably where you feel comfortable. Maybe it's 1.5 for some of you guys do that for the next 2 to 3 minutes. Get comfortable with that faster speed and again your brain is going to overtime. Make that very natural, and so after five minutes, it's going to seem like they're talking normally because now he slowed down to one X, it's going to seem like they're talking really slow. So whatever your speed, your at the next step is when you're at like that 7 to 9 minute range is to really ramp it up. So let's say your goal is to become a natural listener at 2.25 X. Maybe that's your goal. I want you to speed it up to like 2.5 X and listen to it for like a minute or two. What you'll find is initially it's going to be very scary. It's gonna be very frantic for your brain. Picks it up. You know, people that are blind or legally blind can listen anywhere from 3 to 8. Access Fast is the normal human being, and so you can clearly get to anywhere close to that number, with some practice so speeded up to 2.5 and then when you feel like it's been a minute to go ahead and slow it down. Not all the way to two X, but 2.25 and you'll find the dopey nice, comfortable, and it's going to seem natural to you, so it's a great way to listen to a lecture at a very what's considered national speed and still do it in half the time and sometimes even better than half the time again. I have been able to get through 15 hours of a medical lecture in a week and just do it anywhere from, like, six hours, um, and have 7.5 hours. Uh, sometimes even more that I can spend on study techniques are more impressive and more beneficial to me or just simply to chill. So if you want more free time and you feel like you are not learning from electric, definitely try out speed listing. All gonna break out a lot of tools down below that you guys can check out on and learn how those work and they'll be a full video also link down below. It's gonna break it down, step by step. SkillShare Online Course 10 Lesson #09: Alright, guys. So in this video, I'm going to break down and very important skill. Have many of you probably want to know it's how to take effective notes Now when you know how to study, well, you still need to make sure you're spending fishing time. Um, writing down your notes, you can use them later. And if you don't know if you know it's a good or if they suck, a good test is to go back to the last exam you took. Maybe you just had one this week and look at the notes that led to that. You know that dealt with that material, ask yourself, Did this piece of note actually help me? And the answer was No. You're probably not doing a good enough job taking notes that most of us type or notes because it's faster but also leads to poor long term retention. I still recommend writing them because you can still be more efficient later on attaining that invoke, but writing it's the same format. So what I like the teacher is the question evidence format, and basically we want to make it to where our notes are something that we can learn from and teach yourselves our mistakes. From the very start. We don't get to this point in med students do its all time and call the students also where we go to a lecture, and we're just hoping that weaken get as much information and grasped as much information. And then we can learn information letter later. But instead you want to make your goal where you can just look at those notes and start quizzing yourself immediately. So that's why I like this format. So basically the way it works is you will have a major question What I like to also call my headline. These are often the headlines to the power points headlines to syllabus. Um, you know, paragraphs or whatever, and I usually put these in the form of obviously a question. So let's say you're taking a history class and, for, you know, just example sake. We're going to say why I did. The American Revolution happened. Um, now, obviously, that's a very, uh, can't spell, but you guys get the point. Um, obviously, that's a very broad question. And so that's why I like to call in my headline, because it involves a lot of pieces of evidence. And so now what you're going to do is you're going to use a bullet point function, and you're gonna put evidence number one, uh, evidence number two, these air things that your lecture would talk about. Things that the textbook with top of tough about, um and, you know, evidence number two could also have an evidence underneath it. You know, maybe you're talking about, um ah, specific person and you want to give of another, like, secondary detail. So this could be also a question, and then this could be its answer. Basically, this is how you electric is going to be, um, oriented. And then as you go through the lecture, he made start talking about another question, which is, you know, how does the American government first start these air? Just just a broad examples. But now, when you have your, um, same structure, so I'm just gonna copy in paces. Um, now, when you have your basic structure where you have your second headline, you are going to look at, you know, and saying, Okay, the question is, why did American Revolution happened? So now you can cover up your evidence and see if you can answer if you can. To that clearly indicates that you have found a major headline. The topic is really important that you don't know the details too. And so now you can quiz yourself versus just saying, Okay, I try to memorize this fact in this fact in this person, and this year you can take a big topic, which I often like to call it. My prompt topics, these air things that could be like short answer questions. And then you could easily see yourself filling it out with details that would answer it versus just having all of this just be notes you are now doing in a very Q and A format. So if I master all of this, you know, and I was studying it, I would just highlighted a different color or underlying it. Probably not that dark, but you guys get the point. And then let's say something like this question may have given me difficulty. And so then I would just put it a different shades so that when I would go back to review this note, I would focus more of my time here. Remember weaknesses first versus here. But this is a great way to structure your notes because you're making yourself first. Think of what the big ideas but the major headlines are, and then you're putting your evidence just like you normally would. But now, when you go and quiz yourself on the notes, you can go ahead and cover up and then see if you can answer the evidence. So it's a very simplistic way of doing it. But it's also very effective, and you can do this on any class you can imagine in college or medical school or any training urine. So try out the Q and, uh, the Q and A format for note taking, Um, and let me know what you guys think, But I will see you guys next video. Take care, guys. 11. SkillShare Online Course 11 Lesson #10: are you guys? So this is now the last hit? Honestly, it's the most important because the 1st 9 tips were all about becoming a better student. This is going to make sure that you're focused on becoming a better soon and not anything else. And the last tip is to make sure that you ignore everyone else. Now, if you are high achieving its student, it is a natural inclination toe look around and find all the individuals that are doing even a little bit better than you there. Naturally smart. They're doing better than exams. It feels like everything is going right for them, and we begin to identify all their flaws instead of focusing on our successes and our accomplishments, and are small progress that we've made. So I encourage you to not focus on where classmates were doing what your peers are doing. Older siblings, they're doing instead focus on the progress that you've been making because again, the goal is to become a little bit better each and every day to focus on your possible goals. Work in a reverse kind of mindset, and every single day is closer to the goal. You want to achieve. So stop worrying about what other people are doing because ideally, they're not worrying about you. You should be worried about them. Their results don't necessarily impact your likelihood of success on Lee. You are responsible for that. So I know it's very cliche. Most of you like whatever, but I promise you it's probably being detriment over many of you. So it's a word there for me to make the spiel it helps. Is one of you guys doing this? I've really learned, especially being on a very hi type, a personality field like medicine, where everyone is trying to top each other throughout the journey because they want to become the best, that you realize that there's room for all of us. And, you know, me becoming successful doesn't make it any less likely that somebody else doesn't get that shot. And likewise, somebody else being very smart in my class doesn't make it less likely that I'm going to also have those opportunities. So focus on all the doors opportunities that are open for you because of your hard work and your success. Instead of focusing all the ones that look like they're closing because your classmates are doing really so again, stop worrying about other people. Ignore them if you can enjoy their company, ignore their success is what I like to say and focus on your progress. And I promise you, guys, if you take the first night tips and combine it with this you over time we're gonna become the student that everyone is gonna want to emulate because you're focused on you. You're doing humbly. Ideally, you're not bragging about it, but you're going to eventually become that person you want to in the future. And then, obviously the person everyone else is going to want to as well. But hopefully this video helped, and I will see you guys in the last conclusion video. 12.
