LEARNING - Learn An Idea By 'Teaching It': learn an idea by teaching it discover how teaching really is a great way to learn may seem a bit of a paradox, but it's so true. So let's talk about how, if you wanna learn an idea really well, how teaching it can help it sink in even deeper. Now it's easy to believe that learning an idea happens mostly when you consume. It's you know, it's a one way street. You learn an idea. When you consume it, you take it into your brain. But this is really how you gain knowledge about the idea. But learning it when you can remember you can value. And you can explain that idea that requires more than just an inflow of taking in facts. There's a learning highway, so to speak. Research and my own personal experience has shown that one of the best ways to learn an idea at a very deep level is to teach it others or even pretend that you're teaching it to others and to really sink in this idea. I want you to think about your favorite teachers or mentors, the people that you look up to who have shared ideas with you in the past, and when you observe them, you can understand that they share ideas on a level that you can tell that they really get it. You know, they understand those ideas of things that they're telling you right now. Is it because they simply read the idea in a book one day and then suddenly, boom, You know, it just made sense to them and because they're smarter than you. No, that's not it. That's not it at all. It's because they talk about those ideas all the time. They're teaching others and workshops and seminars and face to face they're talking about. These ideas constantly toe others an idea. Consumers People who just taken knowledge often only get a fraction of the benefits from that knowledge. That idea express er's do So you want to be an idea Express, or somebody that teaches ideas, expresses those ideas. Now let's talk about that paradox. Why you learn when you teach, How does that work? Well, there are a couple basic reasons why this happens. One is that when you enter the learning process with the expectation that you're going to teach what you're learning, your awareness and your focus increases, and you do a better job of identifying key ideas and structuring them in your mind. So you your awareness is heightened. Your thinking ability is heightened because you're on alert. Essentially, that's number one. Why you learn better when you teach. Number two is that and we talked about this just a second ago. As you explain information that you've learned it helps reaffirm it in your own mind. You play it over and over and over again in your mind each time you teach it. And as a result, that information that knowledge becomes clear to you and you start putting all the pieces together better, and you understand it at a deeper level each time you talk about it. It's as if when you speak about an idea or you teach it that you draw it in or siphon it deeper into the place within your mind. That sees that idea, and that knowledge clearly makes sense of it and creates an emotional connection with it. You're drawing it in each time you teach and talk about it. So how do you use this? Well, you want to talk or pretend that you're teaching the things that you want to remember and you learn. So here, five steps to do it. Number one in your car, in the shower. Or when you have a few free moments you want to take a topic. Something that you learned recently a strategy or the content of a book, something that has value to you, or that you want to learn exceptionally well. You want to value, take that topic and then express everything you know about it like you're enthusiastically teaching someone else that you're in front of, ah, student or a group of students. And you are trying to tell them about this knowledge, this idea that you've learned talk about it out loud when possible. Okay, Now, this isn't always possible, but when possible, you want to talk about it out loud. So you want to act like you're having a conversation with a real classroom. Now, if you can't do that like if there are people around you and you want to do this idea, you could talk quietly even to say, you know, this is what I want to talk about and years about it so you can just kind of whisper, but you want to get your mouth moving. You want to pretend like you're speaking out loud? Okay, That big factor in the whole learning process. Use gestures and facial expressions really get into the whole teaching process when you're doing this, and as far as what things to talk about, explain what the I D. Is or what the knowledge is. Talk about why it's important, why it matters and then discuss how to use it. So explain what, why and how. And if you get all these different elements together, you become a teacher of the knowledge that you learn. And even if it's a teacher in the shower, that's okay. Or if it's somebody that you're pretend teaching in your car, this is a really powerful way to take ideas and learn them by teaching them. 3. PRODUCTIVITY - Clear To Neutral: cleared a neutral. This is one of my favorite productivity tips or strategies, and what it essentially means is that you want to end tasks by setting yourself up for success the next time. That's what it means to clear to neutral. So let's get into the mechanics of how this works. And the first thing to realize is that small hurdles create resistance to doing, and it doesn't take much. And I'm sure you've experienced this before where it doesn't take a whole lot to derail your ability to work on a task. Something small, a small hurdle. And in real life this means that you probably won't cook at home if you have to clean dishes first. Right? Cleaning the dishes is the hurdle probably won't cook, or you probably won't exercise. If you have to find your exercise shoes and clean your clothes first, finding your shoes and your cleaning your clothes that's the hurdle seems insignificant, but it could slow you down from actually exercising, and you probably won't pay your bills if you have to find open and organize them first. And so the finding the opening and the organizing is the hurdle that can prevent you from actually doing that test because you don't wanna have to overcome the hurdle. So how clearing to neutral eliminates these hurdles is that when you finish a task, you take a moment right then to set things up, so you can easily begin that task the next time you do it. And in practice, this means that you clean what's been dirty. So if you've dirty to dish or if you dirtied something else, you clean it as quickly as possible, or you put it in the dishwasher so that it can be clean. You don't leave it dirty on the counter, or you replace what's been used sugar in a sugar bowl. If you've used it all up, put more in it. Or if you're using index cards for something or printer paper and you use it all up for a project you're working on right now, you want to replace it, replace what's been used and put back what's been moved. So if you use a tool somewhere and you take it into another room, then put it back in the same place that you found it. So set yourself up for success the next time you need to do this. And that's what clearing to neutral really means. Now, why is now the best time to plan for? Then why is setting yourself up for success next time? Why is it best to do it right now when you're completing a task? Well, there are a couple reasons. One is that you have mo mentum. You still have momentum and energy from doing the task this time. So you're already moving your already engaged, You're already doing something, So why not just tack on a few extra minutes, if that much to what you're already doing? Because you're already in the process of doing something, You have momentum. Number two is clarity, and you're especially clear about what needs to be in place for the next time. When you finish a task, you understand what might need to be replaced, what might need to be cleaned, what might need to be put back when you're finishing a task? So you have clarity but clarity about that so you don't come along later and think, um, you know, what do I have to put in place now before this actually works and I can do this task. No, you don't have to do that because you knew when you finished it up the last time what need to be put in place. And you did it. That's what clearing to neutral means. Now, what are some of the benefits of doing this? Well, we've kind of talked about it a little bit so far, but here, a couple more want it is freedom. And there's freedom from knowing that you've set yourself up for success to complete important tasks in life. They don't weigh on your mind. You're not thinking, okay? I want to do this. I've got to do that. I've got to do this. But before I do, I've got to clean that. I've got to replace this. I'm gonna put this thing in place. No, you eliminate all that, so that gives you a sense of freedom. It really minimizes your stress when you realize that the things that you want to do in your life are ready to go. And you can tackle them when you're ready. And you don't have to overcome these hurdles first to do them. That's freedom. The 2nd 1 is time and energy, and you realize that when you practice this, it takes a lot less time to clear to neutral. Spend a little time doing that that it does to deal with the consequences that come from putting important things off when you don't clear to neutral, so you get time and energy. So how do you use this? Well, it's very simple. When you cook something, you clean up your mess. When you wear something, you wash it or you hang it up for next time. If you empty something, you fill it back up. If you eat out of something, you wash it. If you sleep in it, you make it clear to neutral and tasks by setting yourself up for success the next time. 4. FEARLESSNESS - Name Your Fears To Overcome Them: name your fears to overcome them, which means that you can drain the power of your fears by simply shedding some light on them. Now, where did this wisdom come from? What was the inspiration for this concept? Well, it comes from a fear defeating master, and that is Master Yoda from Star Wars. And if you're a Star Wars fan, you know exactly who I'm talking about it. And if you're not a Star Wars fan, then just think of Yoda as this kind of possum looking green creature, and that was very wise and very powerful. And this is what he had to say about fear. And he was an expert at fear and defeating it, especially, he said, named must be your fear. Before Benesch it, you can. That's the worst Yoda. That's what he sounded like, by the way, if you're not a Star Wars fan, or at least what I interpret him to sound like, But essentially in my human voice named must be your fear before banish it, you can now. What did he mean when he was talking about naming your fear? When you think about it, we give names to things that we know really well, don't we? When we know somebody by name, it means that we have a closeness to them and can describe them in detail, Right? So Master Yoda was saying that in order to conquer a fear, you need to know and understand it with crystal clarity. Your fear needs toe. Have a name, and you need to be able to describe what it is in detail, and the more details that you have about your fear, the more easily you'll defeat it. That's essentially what Master Yoda was saying. Now, why does this matter? Well, it matters because you may have convinced yourself that avoiding your fears is the best way to defeat them. This is what most people do. I've been guilty of this in the past is well, you avoid the fear, and you think it was just going to go away. But the opposite actually happens, right? You probably experienced this yourself because fears that are avoided tend to become more mysterious and unfamiliar with time, and this gives life to fear of the unknown. That's what fear the unknown is, is when there's something in your life that has potential to influence you, but you don't know exactly what it is or what it looks like. That's fear of unknown. So when you avoid fears, they become Maura unknown, more mysterious, and your fear increases about them. And in the end, the more of fear becomes unknown to you and mysterious to you, the more it will paralyze your ability to defeat it. So naming and describing your fear shines light on it. That's essentially what you're doing. You see it for what it is, and when you do that, it drains. It's power against you. So how do you use this? Well, the first thing you want to do is do a brain dump of all your fears. So grab a piece of paper and empty your brain. Of all the specific fears that you have related to money that you have related to success, relationships, responsibilities, failure, germs, activities such as flying foods and so on. Just dump your brain. Of all the fears that you have on that sheet of paper, and your list might include things like I'm afraid to open my bills. I'm afraid I'm going to die in a plane crash. I'm afraid to speak in public. I'm afraid of getting lost while driving in a big city. So just create this list as many fears as you possibly can. Drain your brain, dump your brain of all those fears. And then once you have that list, you wanna go about naming them out loud. So when you're finished writing, simply read each fear out loud and after you're done reading the fear, say, But even though it scares me, I take action anyway. So let's use an example. I'm afraid to open my bills, but even though it scares me, I take action anyway. I'm afraid that I'm going to die in a plane crash. But even though it scares me, I take action anyway. So that's the process. You want to shine some light on your fears, see them for what they are, know what they are, and it removes the mystery from them. It removes the unknown from them, and it's by shining the light on them that it enables you to overcome them. 5. ACTION - The Action Taker's Manifesto: the action takers manifesto. These are rules to live by to become an action taking beast. And so what is this manifesto? Well, the manifesto represents the mindsets and the actions that you need to take to be a very prolific action taker or what I like to call an action taking beast So you can think of this also is an extended affirmation. You say it to yourself these things on the manifesto until you understand them. Do you believe them until you do what they say? And that's what a manifesto is. So to get the most benefit from this manifesto and the words that it says, read it out loud and with some feeling and emotion, and I'm gonna show you how in just a second, but you want to really feel it and have that sensation that you are actually really getting into it. Okay. And one of the best ways of doing this is to include some music. So listen to some music, some really rockin music or whatever kind of music that inspires you. And listen to that while you say this while you say the words on the manifesto. So I'm gonna go through the elements of the manifesto, the mindsets, the beliefs as if I'm saying them, you can listen to how I'm doing it, so you get a good feel for how this process works. All right, so let's begin. I am an action taker. I simply focus on the next action, which means I clearly identify what small action I could do right now to move a goal or a project forward. And it's only when I take action now that the path to success becomes clear later. I understand that. So I simply focus on the next action. I act quickly on inspiration when I overthink an awesome idea and put off acting on that inspiration. Problems appear that didn't exist before in overtime. My desire and the clarity that I have about the idea dies. So I act quickly on inspiration. I maintain a state of taking action. I become an action taker when I consistently take action and get things done throughout the day. Even small things consistent action builds momentum and momentum makes me unstoppable. Focus on the wine, not the what ifs. So instead of destroying my motivation by thinking about everything that could go wrong. If I act, I focus on what awesome things will happen. But why? When I take action and start seeing results so again, I focus on the Why not what ifs. I stopped collecting distractions. It is unacceptable, totally unacceptable for me to Penn Bookmark Saves subscribe for joint anything and time, taking consistent action on my goals and my projects. So I stopped collecting distractions. I avoid waiting for the perfect conditions to get started. There is no such thing as perfection when it comes to taking action. A perfect time situation, perfect knowledge. Good enough is good enough, so I avoid waiting for perfect conditions to get started. I clear the clutter. Clutter is a barrier to taking action. Something needs fixed before I could act. That's what clutter is when nothing blocks me from acting. I take action were often so I clear the clutter. I plan in advance what needs done when I'm not clear about what needs done, I get distracted by my emotional impulses. A simple daily plan gives me a clear path to follow, so I plan in advance what needs done. I stopped hoping for it more than I work for it. No hopes and dreams inspire me, but they don't produce results. Results come from taking daily, consistent action, not dreaming about how I plan to act. Someday. I keep myself in a state of action, so I stand sit confidently. I breathe deeply and I drink plenty of water throughout the day, so I keep myself in a state of action. I tap into some inspiration. I love reading stories, watching videos of other people, achieving success. It teaches me that I could do it, too, and that excites. So I tap into some inspiration. I regularly give myself pep talk, So I used positive self talk to defeat the negative self that can prevent me from taking action. I'm my own motivational coach. I love remembering what I've overcome, what I've achieved, what I'm excited about the future and why it matters. So I regularly give myself and I review my progress to reinforce the belief that I am an action taker. I regularly review what I've already accomplished by spending a few minutes each day to reflect on my daily successes, and this gives me absolute proof of my ability to create awesome results. So this is the action takers manifesto. So print this up and place it somewhere. You can see it occasionally reference it, say some of the ideas or the mindsets on it. Say them out loud with some feeling and emotions, or do the whole thing every single morning. Whatever it may be, drill these ideas into your brain into your heart. Get excited about him, and it will boost your motivation to take action. 6. WORDSMITH - Replace I Can't With I Don't: Let's discuss how a subtle shift in your words the words that you use Kenbrell boost your personal power. Replace I can't with I don't very subtle. Now take a good look at the image on the screen because this is gonna play an important role in understanding how the subtle shift makes a huge difference in your personal power. Now, the words that you use, the words that we all use in our conversations they matter, and they may seem insignificant at times. But the words that we use help to shape our personal sense of power and control and don't and can't are a good example of this. So when you think of the words don't and can't they seem somewhat interchangeable. You know I don't do this. I don't do that. I can't do this. I can't do that. And oftentimes we use them interchangeably. But they're very different from a psychological standpoint when you examine them further, which is what we're going to do. So what is the difference between saying I can't do something and I don't do something well saying I can't to a temptation a distraction or demand, you know, you have these things that come into your life on a regular basis, And you might be saying, Well, I can't do that. I can't eat that or I can't do this thing or I can't take on that When you do that, when use, I can't. It feels like a restriction or limitation that you have. And it implies that you want to say yes, you know? Well, I can't really eat that cake. See, that sounds like you want to say yes, but something is preventing you from doing so. So there's Ah, there's a barrier And this is a psychologically draining way of saying no because it implies again that you want something. You're trying to get to something, but something just isn't allowing you to get to it. And if you struggle like that, psychologically, that could be a little bit draining, exhausting over time. Now this is different than sane. I don't because I don't do something that feels like and it is a choice, your choice. And it implies that you don't have any desire to say yes because doing so doesn't align with your beliefs, your goals, your values, you know? No, I don't eat cake I don't do that. I don't do this. See how that's different than what I can't do that or I can't one again is restrictive and one is a choice. And there's a big difference psychologically because saying I don't is a psychologically empowering way of saying no, because you are in control when you say I don't know what are the long term effects? Have these words well, saying I can't repeatedly and our everyday conversations are in response to requests, demands temptations is a constant reminder of your limitations. Now. You may not realize that it is, but you're saying I can't do this, I can't do that. And when you use that term constantly in response to temptations, demands and distractions, it's going to affect your self image in subtle ways again because it's restrictive and it feels like you're not in control but saying I don't repeatedly start getting into the habit of saying I don't do things instead of I can't. That's a reminder, a constant reminder that you have the power and control to make the decisions that you make in your life and the behaviors you act on. You know, I don't do that. That's a word of control. So how do you use this? Well, when appropriate, you want to replace? I can't with I don't. You want to be aware of that. So instead of saying something like, you know, I can't miss exercising. I can't. You say? You know, I don't miss exercising. I can't. Feels like a restriction. I don't feels like a sense of control and power instead of saying, you know, I can't afford that. You say I don't need that right now. See the difference? One step. Same. You know I can't go tonight. Uh, I can't go tonight. You say I don't want to go tonight because other things have priority. Big difference. Or instead of saying, you know, I can't check Twitter or Facebook while I'm working. You say I don't check Twitter in Facebook while I'm working very subtle, but huge psychological difference and how it affects your personal power. So be aware of this and were appropriate. Replace?
