1. Introduction: welcome to you. Learn how to refuse your calligraphy, All lettering on food and fruit. I think it's gonna be a fun one for you. My name is Joy and I'm here to take you through the three step press play and this play process and applying it to thes two fruits, apple and zucchini. I told you it's gonna be fun. By the end of the course, you'll be confident in selecting the right kind of Truls and supplies in order to work on food. One of the project is going to be in edible, but the other project is going to be edible. So many varieties for you to choose from. You can use it as a fun personal project for yourself or maybe even home to court. Then the prerequisites for taking this class. And I love to see how you infuse your own lettering onto projects like food. Come join me as we work on the project together. See you soon. 2. Prep: Choosing Apples Lettering : Let's talk about preparation, shape, size, surface and shade. If you're looking at the sheep, like select something that half, you know, the shape of an apple and it'll be nice if he has a stock. Yes, I probably won't select this one if I have a choice. The other one is this. This has a stock that's a little bit lopsided. It can see one side if, uh, less thick compared to the other one. This is a nice Mondo. It is a similar thickness all around, and he also has a stock. What about size? If you're gonna be writing whole names on it, then you might need to get something with the biggest surface area as compared to something where you're just gonna do a monogram off a leather, Then you can get away with using smaller apples. The surface and the shade are not as important for us for this particular project that we're working on primarily because I'm not gonna be leaving the skin just like this. I'll be spray painting it white. It's gonna be a white and gold project, so the stuff is gonna be gold. The, uh, skin is gonna be white spray painted white, so intense, all surface and shape. That's not be something that we are going to be too concerned bit for this particular project. 3. Play: Lettering On Apple (Inedible): I wantedto minimalists white and gold bean for this project. If you're using it for event, you may just want to do a monogram. Calligraphy all have the names of your guests. Let it on this apple for this plasma project. I am thinking off your EQ Osama the Japanese at this and how like to cover this whole apple with golden poke adults. I'm also thinking about other associations of apples and how they say an apple a day keeps the doctor away, although not sure if they meet a spray painted calligraphic apple. So I'll be writing the phrase health is golden with my gold Jekyll color paint pen. For this, I won't be using appointed pen nip for this is m afraid that the times will scratch my spread being coding. Are you ready? Let's do it. An apple doesn't have a stable base unless you put it. Um, this way is there on its site. So to help you stabilize when you're doing your lettering, you might want to find a suckle that has ah, hole. So for me, I use this cup, but you can use anything else like maybe a Scotch tape on its site like me. Oh, you go. Yeah. Yeah. So this was just a spell and its staple or these So these are all the different ideas off what you can use to create a stable base for you to write on. I'll be writing health if golden on this apple with golden in custody and health in script . So when do you have a stable beef? You got to go my dream do more than life for this, But you can choose to do whichever you choose. But the u N for calligraphy on one lane. Okay, so I wrote out the what Golden fussed. Because I feel that this will be the focus off this particular piece. And so the left over would be left with space to be used for the world health. It's your health. So having script and cuss if gives a kind of contrast, Okay, Has health golden? I'm gonna put the if Yeah, not too intrusive, healthy, golden and share with. You wanted a minimalist white and gold team. And also I want to a channel my inner uric Osama, by drawing lots off polka dots. Um oh, drove on here. We could also different size if and are colored. Eden, What you see here? So I will take this off the camera, but I'll be back with all my foot up, and I'll show you the final piece. I'm just about to do my finishing touches on the species every d drawn. Quite a number of dots. Efficiency isn't the goal. Lovely. Consider Shimmer from the video. Just gonna make some more dots, Not too many, and it's a minimalist, but I sometimes go overboard, so maybe a bit more here. So I call it the fault if you can see. And um yeah, don't you think this is such a fun piece? I don't know where I'm gonna put this if it going to be near my cookie. So I remember not to take so many cookies in a day or I don't know. But it's always a good reminder for us to think about how help if, ah, well in health if golden. So I hope that you will always stay healthy and I'll see you in the next tutorial. 4. Prep: Choosing Zucchinis For Lettering: This is just going to be a practice project because I don't think you have clients lining up the door to have a bikini piece at the events. Nonetheless, we're gonna start with zucchini for a project because I think it's quite easy for bigness. One. You get to practice on a different kind of shape than using paper, which you're more familiar with, so papers flat and makes it quite easy for you to work on. But if you want to let on anything, you must be familiar with how to write on surfaces, cough surfaces just like this one. This will offer you a good practice to work on other cuff surfaces, just like shelves. The other thing is the surface skin. See, the surface is quite glossy, but at the same time is also pretty smooth. It's not like leaves where their riches and raised bums, so this makes it quite easy to work on for beginner. If you're trying to just, you know, learn how to let on anything. Even though this is a practice project, we are still going to go through the prep, play and display process for preparation. You'd be looking at four things, which is shape, size, surface and shade for stuff. As you can see, the surface after bikini is relatively smooth, as compared to another one that 1/2 which is kind of banged up. You can see that deaf scratches, and there's also some dents for your lettering to show. Well, select a surface that is smooth. Everything for you to note. If also the shade we're gonna be working with gold paint. Gold shows up well on that surface is so you can see different parts of guinea has different colors. You probably want to select a dark shades so that the co shows off well as compared to using the light of shape off the security. Let the thing about working with food is make sure that the Cecchini has been left out at room temperature for a while because if you took something just out of the fridge, the condensation is going to make it very difficult for you to work on because our paint is food edible and it's water soluble. Make sure that yes, office is dry 5. Play: Lettering On Zucchini (Edible): all right, we're ready to play. So the things that I've prepared for us is this you be using a paintbrush. The reason why I decided to stop with the paintbrush is I think all of us, even if you're a beginner of would have probably walked with a paintbrush before. So quite from below with using a paintbrush, supposed they're using a brush pen or pointed it. So I thought for a Guinness, for those of us who were just starting to work with lettering, starting with a paintbrush would be a good one to youth. And she is also what before the color. And it's also very familiar medium because the bikini is going to be food. I've decided to use something that is food edible, and this is the wonder. And using this, the rainbow does paint metallic light goal and says you're 100% edible. If you're gonna be lettering on things that you will be eating, please make sure that you find something that says 100% edible instead off something that justice for food decorating only. Yes, they have a lot off dust and clippers that are used on cake decorating, but then not edible. So please find something that's 100% edible. If you're gonna be using it on food, I don't like to use the paintbrush directly inside the bottle. So a port I put a little bit off what's inside this bottle into my to So this is a tube that I have, Um I put a little bit off the foot pain in sight, and it is something that is a tight. So it's something that if I close it, there will be no danger of its billing and use a peg to a stabilize this too. I'm gonna be opening the tube and I'll be dipping my paintbrush inside. Make sure that all called it and their no hair sticking up. Because sometimes if the heads stick out, um, it makes your lettering quite messy. He make sure that they're also not too much blobs off pain so that your lettering will appear crisp. E just gonna do one more time. I'm just gonna put this society so that I don't accidentally no over it, which has happened many times. Trust me. Now we're ready to letter. So if you're not quite familiar with using a race off If you can take something else like a rock and you can rest, you'll come on It, he said, makes it easier for you. If not, but I know me. Just do it. If I stabilize the other end of the security with my hand and I use my pinky to stabilize the other end it, I'll be writing on a so you can use either. Yeah, used to rock. Remember that four letter re. You can do any style. But if you're doing the modern calligraphy kind off lettering, you'll have your down strokes being big and your obstructs being thin so that you have a contrast. So I'm gonna thought this might entranced Roll up your writing the word love I remember you be selecting a part off the security The is that green so that the goal pain shows, uh, shows. Yeah, the video and upstroke. This is the entrance stroke. So the pressure is not going to be so high. I did some more never going to do the down stroke off the l. You will increase the pressure on this. So it will come with a big A stroke. Yeah, down one stroke off your old outward stroke. Louis impression. Take some more foot paint. You can move the bikini around S O that it makes it easier for two. Right on down. One stroke off the V. Heavier pressure. Take a stroke. Now turning up lighter pressure feet. No, it would be working on r e. I always stroke increase the pressure and exit stroke, lighting up the pressure. Okay, so you can see that because the ink the foot paint is what? The soluble and the sufferance off the Cecchini of something that is water resistant. You can see that the strokes don't appear, uh, very crisp. Yeah, but we can't go over it again. So for four calligrapher, you'll do the same thing. You be filling in the gaps as much as you can. Yes, it is just for practice. I'm not gonna be using for key if we're client projects. But like a ship, you know, the cuffs office would give you good practice for working with other kinds of mediums. You gonna fill in the downstream of the old? He's gonna need them. The edges off the lines, the foot pain ink dries up pretty fast, so you can just go over with a second coat. I'm still not happy. You can go over it again to make sure that the lines are really something that IHS the light of move. So again, never quote on the down stroke, I think a stroke. You can leave your obstructs alone if you wish to. I'm just gonna need in it is just practice with your paintbrush with having increasing pressure for down strokes. So they have a thicker stroke and lighting up the pressure on the upstroke so that you have a been a stroke. They can see the contrast between the L the down stroke and the upstroke. So I think this pot needs a little bit more. You're gonna lengthen the entrance stroke. Diego, you have started to letter on the kini. The food pain that we're using is completely edible. But if you are not happy with what you have done anywhere practice on the same security again. It is water soluble, so you can just rinse this off 6. Your Class Project And Thank You: Hello again. I hope that was fun. Not, but accounts punch. You can select a piece of fruit or a vegetable and do your lettering on it. You can choose the inedible road to Earth. Welcome something that is going to be edible. And then you're going to snap a picture off the finished piece and put it up in our class project. Do you have any questions at all about the counts? If you do, please feel free to go to the community section middle and post a new discussion. If you're interested in working with other kinds of fabrics, I do have other councils or other kinds of materials. I work from materials ranging from a gate to these key. So I hope to see you in another car once more. My name is Joy and thank you for taking this class.
