About This Class

it's easy to get used to your hosting provider. you have all your files there, sometimes email, in fact most of the time your website just sits there, not doing a lot, updating when you push blog posts to it and mention it maybe on social. i see the end of websites coming but not yet. maybe in a few years time! :)

this course is to motivate you to spend a bit of time this coming weekend maybe to review your hosting costs for your websites (mainly for wordpress) i did a bunch of research for a new host because my main host was costing more than i could afford. it was getting to be a little bit of a shock every year to find that money and always came at the wrong time. i needed to do something drastic to cut down the impact every year - heck i even reduced it by using some free blog hosting services like medium.

to that end, i've setup and moved a bunch of sites over to a great host called sitegrounds. i wanted to do a bit of a quick twenty minute setup and review course so you could make a decision about it for yourself. it's got a great cache for wordpress that comes with the hosting and i'm happy to report it's super fast and has shaved at LEAST four seconds of my website loads (read, that's a lot!)

now my sites load around 3/4 seconds compared to nine seconds (or MORE!) from before, instead of being overloaded servers with thousands of sites i'm on a faster tier and i've saved myself money in the process.

in this course we. ..

  • discuss checking your existing load times using
  • consider the costs of moving
  • do you pay for a caching plugin or use a third party?
  • quickly review the sitegrounds support
  • getting some cheap vanity urls at hover/
  • discuss sg cachepress and the speedy dynamic cache!
  • why you are making the move, why not get a fiverr tuneup

hoping this is useful to some of you wordpress advocates out there! :)

i'm still using and loving wordpress, for all it's faults i do like some of the plugins! :)
