About This Class

Welcome to my course Introduction to Guitar Pro 7

My name is Geoff Sinker and I am a Musician, Editor and Teacher with over 30 years experience. Technology has always played a major role in my work as a Guitar teacher. Guitar Pro has always been a central part of my lessons since it was first introduced. Having introduced numerous students to the program I decided it was time to create a introduction course for the basic users of the program, using all the Real World knowledge I have learned over the hours I have spent working with the software.

I know that you will find this course both enlightening and interesting for all users of Guitar Pro 7

Guitar Pro is probably the best program for reading, creating, & playing along with tablature on the market today.

Nearly every time you see a piece of tablature on a website or a YouTube video the chances are that it has been produced using Guitar pro. To use the phrase Industry standard would be a correct assessment of the program.

Guitar Pro allows you to edit your music scores and tablature for  guitar, bass, and ukulele, as well as create backing tracks for drums or  piano. This is a most thorough yet user-friendly tool for musicians who  wish to get better, compose, or simply play along.

Quite simply Guitar Pro is the Microsoft Word of music tablature.

In this course you will learn the most important functions and uses of Guitar pro 7

You will learn how to edit files, and variety of sounds using GP own sound-banks, How to add chord diagrams to your scores. We will look a the various way you can export files and how to make your own audio tracks for playback use.

You will also learn how to use Guitar Pro as and aide to learn songs and the various function available to assist you.

At the end of the course you will have a working knowledge of using the program.

Now it its current version 7.5, guitar pro has more features then ever installed.

This new version is free for Guitar Pro 7 users. Opening tool windows by  clicking on the score, file explorer, tablature editing for 9- and 10-  strings guitars, mySongBook integration, batch conversion tool, MIDI  import improvement, better orchestral soundbanks, enhanced drums view

Yes i know it is a paid program, but as a guitar player it is probably the best $69 you could spend on you musical journey.

Guitar Pro is a powerful score player really helpful to learn how to  play, improve your technique, reproduce your favorite songs or accompany  yourself.

I have been using Guitar Pro since it was first released, not only for learning songs but as a aid to my teaching. I no longer use a whiteboard I now have access to a variety of tools that GP provided that greatly enhance my lesson.

I have produced a number of lessons on using Guitar Pro aimed at the beginner and have provided you the links to help you get started with the program.

1. Guitar Pro 7 Introduction: Hi, My name is Jeff Sinker. I'm welcome to the lesson on using Guitar Pro seven. No, I have seen a musician producer on a teacher for the last 30 years. I have found all the time on the most valuable tools that I've ever used as being a guitar pro. I started using it when he first came on the market place on. It just really changed the way I approach learning songs the way I prepared myself alive sense on also how I teach. No longer was I having to use chart boards, bits of paper. Pdf Guitar Pro has changed all out. Who can get up to a big screen Onley information that I wanted to pass on to students with their If I was learning a song, This really helped me toe Look at the various parts of a song underst really speed up the process of learning the different sections. Now, in the course, I'm gonna be showing you how to set up. It's our problem with your laptop. Your PC hotel connected to your audio interface Are we showing you how to edit your first files? I'll show you how to connect with ultimate guitar, one of the biggest websites in the world that holds armed stores guitar profiles. So I'll be showing you how to create your account with, Ultimately, Town also, then how to download and install them and use them on the guitar problem. I'll introduce you to the core, dwindle on to show you how you can not only use that justus a graphical interface on your Pts, but also as one of the biggest court learning tool books you could use no longer. You have to go out and buy one of them massive 400 page volumes of chords. You can now use Guitar Pro to help you learn on your corn. I'll show you scale tools. This again could be great eight for learning skills on As a teacher, you could pass that information on to your students. I will show you how to actually customize the display. So when you open, but far for your editing or doing play by Onley, information will be sent just the way you like to work with it. On this lesson. I don't look at how to transcribe. This is not what this lesson is about. This is just hope you actually can use Guitar Pro as a beginner, and you don't have to be able to greed among the star music to use the software. This is using top creation, so everything is very, very simple for the beginning to use. Of course, over time you'll start to understand how the relationship between notation until mature works included with Guitar Pro is a vast amount of sound banks again. In this course, I'll be showing you how to create various sounds and how to use the same banks to customize the sound that you're looking for. You don't have to be using the ones that was issued. I came with the file that you downloaded. You'll be able to change the sounds just to suit the way you wanted. The course contains nearly two hours off videos taking you step by step through all the various stages off using ultimate guitar. On completion of the course, you will have a greater understanding of the different functions available to you in guitar Pro on. You will understand the power that this software gives you 2. General overview Of The Program Window: what we'll do. Festival will look out the general land off guitar progess. EU can fill militarized yourself with the various sanctions that are available. If we start off, we go to this top right and we see a typical menu land file any trike, etcetera that we can use to access various parts off the program. We moved down. We have these free windows on they refined as different ways of viewing and editing while we're working in Newtown Pro seven. If I switch them all off, you see that we just have a blank workspace. We also have access to our menus at the top if I click on the 1st 1 which is on the left inside. This brings up all the different editing symbols on functions that we can use in guitar Problem. I go to the left on site we know have a song on track information. The 1st 1 The song, is where we can actually label and name the song that we might be editing. If we have downloaded a pre existing file, this would be typically populated with the title artist. By clicking on the more you can see, there's ah quite a bit of information that we can add to this. We've also got different items that we can select are dealing with a music notation which will be covered in future lessons. If I click on the trike. This is the part off Guitar Pro where we can start to work with sounds on also different ways of looking at the for Mount I'm layout off musical notation about his quickly look at this section. Here we have this button here that gives us notation on. Then we also have standard notation so I could take away as you saw on the screen there. Let me just go back by. Clicking on the dis leaves is we've standard music notation. Then I got the tub. If I just wanted the top on the screen, I would click on the stubborn notation, but we just dealing with tablature. If I wanted to show information about strumming on the Countess in the very standard basic way, I can click on this button on. Of course, we can use all free. Typically, people tend to work on just stunned that notation on the tablature on if we know move across. We have zoom in function where we can select what a distance we want to zoom in on. If I'm working a 25 that could change them. Show us a function you've used many times before in various programs. Here we can select how we want to view the screen. We can see it is a horizontal. Not a lot of these will do much of the more until we get more information on the screen. We can also see there's a vertical screen which allows us for scrolling instead of moving downwards. Weaken, scroll across. It defaults to this, just a standard page. We have the bike button. If we want to change any of the editing that we've done, we can use these, which is the same as using a control Z on also a Control V. So I'm do on redo on, Of course, generic. We can print out the information. Now let's have a look at the center of the screen. The center here We have got means off operating inside the program. We can go to the first part of the program. We can move backwards to the previous bar, the play button stop button move forward to the next bar on, then go to the last bar. So transport, which if you've used doors in the past, I'm sure you're familiar with the use of this. This area here tells us the sound that has been set for the particular track that we're working on. Now we can work in multiple tracks with multiple instruments. So as we change between trunks, this will change to these signed instrument and we're working with and a game will be looking in that abound in future lessons. Here we have bar position. No, we could double click on this. This is one of the features in guitar Pro. A lot of information we can access very quickly for the sub menus just by double clicking on the screens. Now, this is lives is to select which bottle we want to go to very, very quickly. Well, let me cancel that we have on here. We can set different triple it fields so any if we're looking grooves inside, the music itself is being played. We consent these, we can change the time despite double clicking over here on. Of course, we've got different ways that we can actually change it. We can change it by moving with the cursor often turned by grabbing Hold with the left on most button. Or we could just enter the information so we can click in what time we want to change you. 25 41 100. We can see that this change to the 100. Let me just bring that menu back up. We can tap the time cancer. If we are not sure what the actual beat is, we can top 1234 to 34 on. That gives us pretty realistic, but not 100% accurate way off setting. The timing that we are looking for are we can look at the thing actual unit that we're looking at. We're looking a vinals quarter Nords half notes on dotted quarter undoubted half notes. If you have not studied music at this stage, you're probably thinking, What's all this about what this is all main. This is for when you are editing your on pieces of music, which I would say it's probably getting towards more of the intermediate user as a basic beginning user. I wouldn't worry too much about that at this stage, so Let me cancel that down here we have the means offsetting the Metrodome. No, this will actually these two here. We've got a counting on the metro. This hourglass, if we click on it, it gives us account in. Now, I've got just one bar side here. But if I click on the transport, you could hear account, and then you see, start to play, which is a great function. If you're using this to actually play along with the track, if you're using it as a musical learning aid. So the count gives you that timer in. Now we can also use imaginable that will count continually through the track that you're working on again. If you are layering, I'm working with this. Having this click trike is really a great tool to use a present. I've switched it off, but I always used the counting because by the time you've tapped on the computer screen on angle back to your instrument, the music's already started. So better to actually leave that switch down. If we click on here, we can adjust the metron or volume on. We can also adjust how many bars we want as the counting so I can change it to a two bike and if I want, so I'm gonna leave it back at them. One when she's worried. Defaults to No, here this I permanently set this on, which is the loop enable, which allows us to play a continual loop off a selected area on again. We'll be looking at that in the future. Let's no move across here, we see these different symbols. We've got the guitar. If we click on that, it brings up a fretboard, which we can use to enter information on. We can also use it to read information. So I guess there's a function for 11 is toe our information to topple. I also have a virtual keyboard, which we can use against toe. Enter information. We do have a polyphonic tuner. If you are using a guitar built in with a sound audio interface, June it It's useful. I must admit I don't use it. I've got over means of tuning my guitar, but this does allow you to use a instrument on confirm the tuning this information here. The mornings clicked off again. You can use guitar parole with a user interface, but because I use a different system I don't use that function The things I want to show you on here We talked about double clicking are to get access to information. If I hover over any of these sanctions on guitar parole if he turns blue it means I could double click with my left most And it brings up information for me. Click on here You assume it was Go blue Become an arm that brings up the automation timing temple I click on here and it allows me to change time signatures If I click on I can change the key so I can change it between g clef AFC laugh Various different cliffs that we use in music So I'm gonna leave it a default A Ziggy Cliff sold Also as we start to open I can double click on a bar Unused My right. Most click when I clicked on the bar with my right mouse It brings in a sub menu Analyze me too inside the actual file and I'm working on it gives me access to a lot of information that I can use when I'm editing. I could bring up the notes, so I could work directly from the UN Also. Thanks. So the screen very easy to get acclimatized with as you're working through, but always you for when you first open guitar parole is just to look round on bond. In the early days, I just used to click on different items just to see what they would do. Lyric information, not something that I work with. But you can add lyrics to the file, but this one here courts brings up this window here. I do use this a lot on the game will be covering that in a future lesson. So feel free when you open up the program just to click on anything that's in front of you , just to see what information it could bring up. It's ah, great way off, working round learning things on here. So that is a general order view on the layout. Off Guitar Pro seven 3. Setting Up The User Interface: in this lesson, we are going to look at how we can set up guitar pro. Easiest way to do that is to exit access this through the preference window. So I got into foul on scroll down until I saw preferences on open up this also menu window . Uh, you can set this up really hours that you wish to. It comes as a default. Know some of these? I'm changed slightly from the default. If we look at the general, I've got dear templates. No. Do I wanna default? Template to open. I don't tend to what we've template straight away, but we have got a number of templates that are provided like guitar parole. That allow is to open directly so we'll have to select them as a new filing Just automatically does this, But I've left us time as empty. It always have. I can force zoom 100%. I consent. If I wanted to always open at 150 I can set that. So I know I can actually tell it because he defaults to 100. But I couldn't click on here. I could tell it that straight away I wanted to open from a new file, anything that opened at a particular setting. So let me just click off that on. It will go me to stay. In fact, I have to change that. Go back there and then we'll go back to 100% forced notation If I wanted to just open with just the notation on I don't want to have the tablets here. I again I can click on that, and I can select how I won't want to open open last session documents again. I have that left off because I just want to actually decide what I want to work on as I work on updates. No, I would set this open. I've set this up hours installed beater because I don't be to work before forget, Tell a pro. So I understand this automatically set up to download. You can leave that off if you want, because you might not be too sure about laying lording beater programs. But, um, I would when it comes, it's defaulted off. But I wouldn't change that. But you can ask it to actually open sessions and check for updates. How you ever wanted every day? Never, etcetera whichever way you want. But again, ourselves to yourself. Uh, no. Let's move across to the interface. How you want the cursor? Do you want it to play across smoothly each note or by the Macha room? I have just left it a defaulter. Smoove. I've always used it on way, but it gained. You can trial these out. Highlight current. No, played that defense being on because you actually want to see what not is being played as a highlighted don't unless you don't and then you change it. Keys behavior. Shafter are longer. Plus if I want them alive. I just leave these information here as a standard Sure frat light buttons. This is only when you're using the front line which is connected with this information on the guitar interface system language. Again, I leave that as a default unless you have to change it yourself. And as you see, there are various languages here. But that's if you did. If you French running a French, you would change the information on Click On. I've left it assistant language. These defaults to English scores. No, this is more to do with the editing side off things. If you're just using this as a tool for learning songs, then I would not adjust anything on here. If you start to get into editing, then yes, you might want to start to change things on here, but as a beginner, I would leave everything as it is on the default here. You can. If you're working on your own scores, you can pre fill the information. So whenever you are open up a new score. It automatically populates a lot of information for use enough to keep changing. Not no. The final one audio midi information. No, this is probably the most important sanction off using the guitar pro at the beginning because it's how you set up how you want to hear the sounds. No, this will depend on your system set up. If you are just using this purely from your laptop or your point PC, and you've got no outboard equipment, then you would just be using standard on this standard. It will pick up the primary sound driver from your laptop or your PC. It will do this automatically if you have off the same drivers built into your laptop. You not your laptop, but to your PC. This is where you can select the sound driver. This is as it says, the audio opal. How am I going to hear the information coming into it, Aunt? So by selecting primary sewn driver, you have access to these sound devices on your PC or Mac? No, off the ways you can use this system. If you have a studio set up, you can use it through your audio interface, which means that you can also use guitar parole for combining with recordings. If you saw Wish stands with sounds that are on here quite good. So you might want to use it as part of a backing track for symphony recording, which would mean the use off on audio interface. No, depending what you have got connected into your system. You will have a different drop down menus here. Now I am using A 11 Reich, which is an ass your driver. I click on a seal on what it then does. It gives me access to the different ass your drivers available on my system. I use the 11 right to drive most of the sound around the system, but I also use voice meter, which is 1/3 party program that allows me to connect different audio inputs for working on line. Because I do an awful lot of teaching online and I need a means of connecting all these sound devices to my Skype airports. On voice meter is the tool for doing this s o. I could set it up as voice meet a virtual ASIO, which is one off the internal devices invoice meter. Or I can use it to power straight through the 11 Reich. In this case, I am going to just leave it out the voice meter seal so I can use it to drive the sound through the audio system that we are working on at the present time. I can tell it if I want to Imano if I want to use the different inputs that I got for voice meter, If I had gone to my 11 Reich, it would again bring up different channels. Now there is only six Jewell channels on the RCO, actually, on the 11 right to choose from. No, depending won't audio interface you have. This will appear in here if it is connected into the system for your USB I saw that will appear so if you want to hear it through your audio interface, got a seal on, then you select. If you want to hear it directly from your PC or your laptop, go to standard on, then choose the same driver, which is standard. Or you can leave it a default on standard, and it will pick up the same driver on your PC Midi outputs. We can drive MIDI equipment through here so again, depending want. We've got connected to the system. I have got an ass your keyboard so I could drive information. If I have a MIDI board that creates sound, I can use this to control on change information. If I want to send many information from one of my MIDI devices, I've got a MIDI keyboard. I can connect it. So Aiken drive information down from the keyboard on two guitar pro so I could do many editing from the keyboard directly into temporal. Ah, we look down here. This is familiar, especially if you're using a MIDI guitar. No had great success with many guitars, but this is different ways that we can use for setting this up. I have found the best way. If I do wanna use MIDI and enter information, it is best for a keyboard. So that's how we connect on set up guitar pro to work with as general preference We can change things inside each off the files that we open But this is how we set everything up as general working. But the main one is this audio. Because if you switch this on, are you click play and you hear anything you will probably find. The problem is that this hasn't been set up correctly. 4. Loading A File From Ultimate Guitar: on. One of the biggest question is that I always have from my students when I am working with Guitar Pro is How do I get files pre edited files to use Wave Guitar Pro, which is one of the biggest uses in the early stages that you will be doing with guitar parole. Well, all of the best answers I give to people is used. Ultimate guitar Ultimate guitar dot com has been around forever. It has being. To me. It is probably one of the biggest music sides on the best organized music size that is available. It contains thousands upon thousands off tamps chords on song charts on also Guitar Pro Files. Now, when you first arrive at Ultimate guitar common, I will leave the links in the information, The Resource Information for You. You will have this screen appear no. Before you can download any information from here, you have to create a log in as a user. Now it is free to use. They do have a pro version. They tend to push you towards the pro version, which you can clearly understand. They are here to try and make a little bit of money out of advertising are selling the rights for people to use professionally produced guitar pro tubs boat. You don't have to. You can set up your own account by entering by. Clicking on a register here on you would be brought to, ah, separate window where you would filling your information all you can, in fact council here. You can use your Facebook on your G mail account to log in on, create your own user account. If I was using Google, my click on here Now he stops me because I've got a pop up blocker on here. But the window will open and you will be allowed to logging by using one of your social media accounts. So what I'm not gonna do is I'm gonna log into my account and I'm gonna show you how to navigate round ultimate guitar on. Then how to actually download and use filed inside guitar parole. So let me just get signed in on, then we'll move forward. We're logged in and you could see my account here. We've got Tarbes articles, etcetera. A lot of information on this side. So not just you think of a Thomas, but you can just use it for just getting right and just reading information on the current music scene. But what we're interested in what we're looking at here is tops. No, there is different ways you can search for these tops, but you can even going through the top section just by clicking on here on. Then it will just bring in informational Thompson available. If we just focus in on Guitar Pro, I can click on this sub menu here. Attack filter Onda. It will bring in information here. We've got ratings. Tell us how many people have viewed it, What they think of it. So what we gonna do? We've got this method we can also just type in. So I am just taking one here. Stairway to heaven on I click on Search on It takes me to a little Ed Zeppelin section for all off the songs for months that we have a story to heaven. No, we can see that we've got chords we've got tamps on. We have get Peter Profile Way Power profiles based files which are tabs on drums which are terms again. So what we're interested in obviously his guitar pro. So just a narrow the field down a bit again. I can click on the attack filter on here. We just have no all the guitar profiles. No, Quite clearly there is a big push for here. Eso really? That's the one I'm going to select. So I click on the file now is this window that people tend to get confused on when this appears in front of them? The simple mentioning is still not downloaded yet. That will be coming from here. It comes from this point here. Can I actually follow it? Unused. A style of guitar pro inside here. But it's all online base. So very hard to do anything with it afterwards. So because we're using Guitar Probe, we're going to download the file. So what you have to do, you have to scroll right to the end of this screen until you see this window down. Lord guitar pro file. By the way, people have spent a lot of time and effort producing these files. Andi, I would always say to you, if you are using something that people freely given, given the time out, they're not charging you for this. Click on it. Just give him a rating. It helps them. Ah, lot of people spent time to do this. I'm buying, giving him a higher rating. It just helps him. So just please. If you want to make a common, please make a positive comment. There's nothing worse than somebody's been spending weeks preparing something and gets a very negative comment back. There's no need for him, so make sure that you rated for them. And if you do want to make a common, make sure it's a nice positive comment. Anyway, let's go back down long guitar, pro tub. I will click on that, and it brings up because I'm using Windows. It gives me this. Do I want to open the direct that we'd be type role, which has got my doof default program here or seven. I strongly recommend you get in the habit off saving it. Many is the time I've gone currently to get our pro because it hasn't download the file. It's kind of kept it in the cyber world where it's lorded it. I've forgot to save it in Guitar Pro was I've been working on it when I caused the program . I've lost it, so save it this way. Eat Downloads it to your machine. Click on save and then click. Ok, that is how you pull in. Ah, file from ultimate guitar. No, the file is sitting here on my machine, so no, we are gonna move bag to Guitar Pro. No, we've got the file on the machine. We want to open it in guitar probe. Very, very simple. I'm gonna go to file menu on. I am going to go to open, which is also controlled. Oh, I'm gonna go to my downloads. But this is where I keep my downloads. That coming automatically on though we have story to heaven, I click on open under. Then we have a story to heaven in all this glory Lordy dope in guitar seven. 5. Adding Chord Diagrams To A Song File: this lesson, we are going to be looking out the court menu that is available in Guitar Pro. What I've got here is a typical old sheet that has Bean downloaded from ultimate guitar for the classic song Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison on We have Got the Notation and we got the tabling cheer on. We can clearly see here that we're playing courts, but they're not extremely visible to someone who's not good at reading music. I'll be able to read, Tell ish it quickly on. I'm sure you've seen all diagrams before on the Internet on YouTube videos, where you can actually see a image off the cord or what I'm gonna do know assure you how you create these in Guitar Pro. The first thing you need to do is go to the the cord. There's first in the bar, are just click anywhere on my cord. So we just see the highlighted number there, which in this case is number free, then one off the ways you can access. The card menu is to, on your key part, use the A key, thereby it's in the aching. We bring up this window off the ways that we can do it. We can click on this menu. Brings up the same thing. So we have two methods off bringing the cold window up. No, I'm going to select. I was used the keys, So I'm gonna go for the A No, straight away. We have got an indication that the cord we're looking up here is a g chord. Unless just check that we got free. We've got to on the a open strings on a Frito. Yes, it is the g chord. Telling his G at the top on. He also shows us the finger positions that we will be using for that. So pretty happy with that. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna click on, OK, You're probably saying I'm just getting a letter. G. I'm not seeing the court image yet. We went to that image here. It says display here. What? We need to look at his display name display diagram, and agency says displaying name are not for display diagram. So what we're gonna do, It's just change that button on. Let's move that on. Then we got a price. Okay? Yeah. Still doesn't work, does it? And I did say that I was gonna show you how to show the images. Well, we have to change a style sheet to do this. I'm gonna go to file. I'm gonna go to style sheet on we open up a style sheet window. Now, what we're looking for is on the page in store for Mert. We need to scroll down to where we see chord diagrams. We have options here. We have got standard style. She's that we can use. No, I generally use the rock warm because Baraka, what we've got here is on top of the score, visible in the school visible. No. If we do the first warm, I click apply. We have the image at the top here. Now about one again. Doesn't show the name. So still suffer. Not right. So let's switch that off. Let's have a look at in score. Let's click that one. Apply though we have it. No, we don't have the name because we have to go back because we clicked on the wrong options. So to see the images in the sheet for the court, it is controlled by the style sheet. If I want to hold that information. I have to go un applied to a style sheet, so I goto options. Now I want to stay. Save it is a style sheet. So if I go and click on here we come all the information style sheet. No, you would have to rename. It is one of your. So if I put cruel image style sheep assess, save it. If I want to bring this up in future, I would need to call that style sheet back up. Now let's take a little step back here. So you understand how we can keep this as a constant? I click apply on. Okay, which have done No, we go back to preferences in the preferences. We had a section where we would force a style sheet, which we looked out right at the beginning. So I'm gonna click on here, Click down here on. I have got my various style sheets. So if I click on chord in each style sheet from now on, it's gonna retain that information. So close the window. Um, let's look at this other problem. Well, we didn't have that name on the top, so no, we've got a court of remember I said, If he goes blue, we just have to click on with our left. Most pulls out the window. We built the window Bac o on That was the problem we need that display on display diagram is on. If we wanted to display the fingering weaken do that as well. But it is very low resolution image very hard to see what you're doing. But let's just do it for knows. You see, it shows the fingers underneath the cord, but she say it's very, very small. Obviously we can increase the size off the image, but that was done back of preferences again. But I generally don't bother with the fingers on these diagrams like this. So I'm gonna click that off. So I have got OK, No, I move onto my next one. I just highlight the first note in the cord. Do the A. I've got a C chord here on a game. All I have to do is do okay, and he brings that information over. May on. I can continue working through the sheet until all off the cords that I have. I've got an image across here, so let's just complete that. - So , though we have all off the cause in this top sheet? No. With images of the court above thumb. Now, there are a few of the things that weaken do using this court menu. If we wanted to art X records later on song or if we wanted to change that, we decided that we are going to change certain voicings in this song that I'm gonna change this to what would be seen as a C at nine cold. So what, I'm gonna dio gonna bring in a in here. Oh, look, it's not showing. See out nine. Here. What I can do. I can create cords by clicking on to the various parts here. So now you saw that box When I first did, it came up was four. For now. We don't do that if we were to play a CR nine. So I just clicked on this box and it gave me different options that I could use. But no one I've done, I've created cords and I could do anything I want with these. I can move them around. I can create all different types of images, and he's now calling a C at nine. So that matches what I've got here. So we know this is correct, and I just click. OK, so now I've got a CR nine chord that I could bring into the another method that we can use the cord menu window scroll to the end and I'm gonna tub into a new bar. So I have got a blank sheet here on a blank bar and I want to record into the So I do a I've got a blank sheet. If I wanted to put say, let's go for a naff I'm gonna top this out Under is an f chord. It has no presented me with an f court in the So it's another method off in Trine information on to your sheets so I can even call up information on Designated or I can change information like we saw with CIA nine here, or it can actually put a cord into the song by pulling up the called menu are being able to change different things by adding it. Also, we've got different voicings that we can apply so I can look about and say, Well, I'm going to change it to this voicing on the information will be there for me. I just click on that on display that I'm gonna go back with our general one that we was looking out. But there are variations as you get more experienced that you can work with on this court information menu here. I could change the type of court by scrolling down this menu. I can call it a diminished, and it will automatically show me those shapes that I can use this ever All these alternative know for having an F diminished chord. Now, if you think about this, this is like having your all little court book available to you instead of having to go out and buy a big, big volume off different chords that are available. You could literally come to this court window. You're searching for a cordial Donahoe to play it on a very shapes that you need. Well, all you need to do is just come here un decide which core base is a major or a minor court or a dominant cargo. In this case, we got a major, but I want to see what it looks like as a source for call or just to a suspect. Give me the information and it shows me over alternatives that could be used. And there's a lot of alternatives for a cord like that. So, no, on Lee is it remains full entering data. It also has a little bit of a side. Um, so not only can you use this for entering call information, you know, got one of the largest court library books available to you all the on screen. Very, very efficient way off. Learning new cords are learning the positions around the fretboard for them. 6. Editing A Guitar Pro File: in this lesson, we are going to look at ways we can edit a file on work with file. Now, this is not teaching you how to transcribe a file. This I have said many times before in this course This is just an introduction in using Guitar Pro. So what I'm gonna do is show you things that you could do to the file to make it easy to use on things that you could do to adjust on the file. So what I've got down here infinite dreams. One of my favorite tracks from the seven son of 1/7 Son album by I am Maiden and we've got all the wording up there. You could change that if you wanted. As we've said before, you can go to the song section on you, Conard. Various things that you want to do if you just want more and more information to be added to that There This was quite adequate track information. I will be showing you later on in a another lesson. How you can change the sound of the guitars on the various tracks. This one has got to sandbanks for one guitar. Just a point When we got to some banks, you can alter the different sounds and you can add mawr sounds to build up your not just stuck with one sound bank. You can add multiple guitars so you can actually go here and click on it would lay you to actually add on an extra instruments. So if I wanted to, I could bring on electric piano in here. Ever wanted on the That would then is the song place through would be added to the track. Oh, let's have a listen to it Here in the background. No, that is ah, way that you can do things to the sound. What I want to look at is ways you can maneuver around the track here. One of the things that you've got here You've got the timeline and we can see the various information day Very Adrian Smith guitar harmonies. We can rename them so we can't or we have to do is just go into the actual wording off the trike on that, then we can change it now, whatever would do. If I wanted to change this, I could go up here on change it from there, so I felt put in Maine, Utah. It is no Dave Murray main guitar. So the song are the track information would be changed here that I could do that to anything. I want synth keyboard so I can alter the information that's on these These icons. They are done because of the way view was to actually add another try unders pressing out. Plus here, if I did want to actually do something myself to this I press the plus on it brings up No. These different symbols are dictated by what you select. So if you selected an acoustic guitar, you get one type of symbol electric guitar. You get a number. If you're slated Base that you get a four string head stock up on keyboards. Well, makes its keyboard assemble on a drum single so they are dictated by the poor Graham. Also, the colors can be changed if you wanted. We come here and say I wanted to make this guitar purple so the colors them would be changed because I've added an instrument here the steel guitar with purple. So let me just know if we want to remove a track. There are different ways I could do this. I can come up here on Dykan. Go remove steel guitar. I can use control shift early, but you must highlight the track that you're looking out. Or I could come up to the top here. I can delete from the top menu. So I'm gonna take that because I don't want to Steel guitar playing in the so I can remove . If I didn't wanna have Bruce Dickinson's vocals in this strike Then again I could just go on, remove him, and then it goes, Brucie, baby, he's at the door. I could change the order that these Aaron I could pick them up and I can change the way they're actually put together. So, as you saw, I just picked it up on what I do. I just left mouse click, and I just drank it down. No, I want to bring the town harmonies down the boat like this. Bring. He does the bombs on each track. We have different symbols here. Now, if I am selecting Dave Murray main guitar, you can see the eye lines up. That means that it is visible. No, next to it. I have got two more icons the first icon is a mute, which means that if I play the trike I'm not gonna hear this trunk being play. I'm gonna hold over trade for I'm not gonna hear Dave Murray just to prove the point. The icon with headphones, that is for soloing a track. See, if I wanted to learn apart from a try, and I just want a particular sound. I just want to hear Dave Murray. I don't want to hear the rest of the tracks I can. So long as you saw. If I hold her over its says Seoul, No. When I play this truck, I will only hear tractable warm. So that's how I can identify. No, you're not governed by just taking one try. I might want to have it with the drums so I can do the drums on Dave Murray on when I play . You can hear the drums in the background there and if I want to bring in Steve Harris on the base. So I've got a training age straightaway there because I've taken at the guitar from Adrian Smith, the second guitar, and I've just got the bass and the drums, so I got a bit of a backing track going on there. So another useful way if you're learning a song, how you can actually move around on Just identified the sound and then to actually separate parts of the track you want toe remove volume sliders. Very easy. Just left. Most key founders pick it up, Move it across wherever you want. If I really want to hear that lead guitar, I just bring it up. What we've got here next with volume automation they will be a lesson on automation panning if I want to hear it on the left. Other right off the stereo Makes if I wanna on e cute. I click on here and I can actually play around with the e que So if two noises to guitar sounds are there is similar, I can adjust the EQ. You and I bought some presets here as well. That will also happen whichever, you know, if I want Oh, just change. Put a preset in there. I've no got a preset, and it will change the torm. I do have a muster volume slider. Uh, but that one is not gonna be controlled from the main part here. so that must have volume. That's a fixed master volume. These you can do for a bit of gain staging. But the master volume that stays on I would tend to leave it in the center as well. No, you can do automation on all the others. But again, must avoid isn't gonna happen. No. Let's move along the time line that the timeline is broken down into bars on and I could highlight and go to any of the bars by this going across the top managers takes me straight to that bar. So if I know I'm working on bar number 20 are 18. It takes me to Barrington. You can see because I've selected top guitar. I have got the track number one at 18. I can use this bottom cursor by clicking left mouse. I could scroll along to any of the sections. I want a man just click in the particular bar. I can pick the track and one from the timeline. If I want to look at Adrian Smith when he's doing a bar 84 click on switches to Adrian Smith strike. So I've got a slider that will quickly move open down I can use this scroll by my cursor is in this window. I can then use the scroll on the most to move up and down. I could also do it from the top Here on the transit are barred window. I can click on here and it will take me to a specific bar that I want. I can go on double click on this part here and select the bar that I want and I just putting whatever number again. Number 18 takes me to bar number 18. Says another way off me moving around the window. If I want to edit anything on the screen, it is very, very, very simple. If I've been playing this mainline here on, I have decided that this note here I didn't like it being on the 15 front on the B string. I could change it. No, I know that this note, which is a D, can also replay on the 10 France on the high e string so I can go to the high e string. I can pipe in on the keypad. Numerical. Keep out all the top keeper. As you see, it's the same old click. Enter on if I want to, then delete out 15 which would make sense. Online news. Ah, highlight over that number Hit. Delete. If I make it a mistake, I can always go back. So editing details on here is rather easy. Ah, this note here, which is D. I can change that to be an open D streets. The same note as you can see. Same. No value. So I could just take that out. I'm changing. So if you see part off a riff, part of a core progression that you know could be played in a different position. But it's got the same. No values. You can edit it. I could do that if I wanted. No, they are going to be the same. No values off the same values here as you can see, and then I just delete out. Now I have done this quite a lot on certain times because the terms to me are not correct on certain pieces, not saying these one, but over tubs that I've downloaded in the past. I know for a find that the guitarist has been playing in a slightly different place, so I've amended some of the details the notes A crate, But it's just the position on the guitar was incorrect. So you can edit onto this sheet. Highlight the northern. You're looking at a time then you edit from the I can add things here dynamics that I want to use. I can up them in this sanction here. Some of them are going to be working some of mind I got here on If I want to put stick cattle feel to it I just click on and he becomes the stick house or not As you can see the dawn the notation Let me take the note If you are on familiar with music scoring notation Ah, lot of this won't make a lot of sense to you built It's still worth while playing around and see me You know, you don't always hit the back button. You're not gonna break in. Especially if you've saved a previous file. All the things that you might want to do, you might want to acknowledge you see, this has got electric guitar. Well, the way you do that is you will go to one of the notes inside the box on. You are going to then click on text. Is that like on here? Text on you Bring that up. I knew then just typing what you want. Uh, I mean it if I want to on it just adds some information. Then if you see that must blue does that help it over? That means I can double click on it again and I can even change it or I can remove it on. Do anywhere Click on any no click on tanks. Put some information in there. So there is something you're adding to this and you think that that will be good idea just to put that in there. Then do it. It's just like having a pencil on. Does writing some notes on the sheet? So that's how you would put more information on to this your time signatures if you wanted to change the time in as we have looked at him previously. If it goes blue, you can double click on it and then you bring in this window where you can change the timing sections. This little part here this is great. If I want to be able to move around this score, I always create sections. No I will call this part. This little party here is the intro, and I want to just put a label on that. So I understand that I can remember and I completing quickly. So I put my I click this note, I got the section on. Then I click at it and it's also shift insert opens up this section window. No, I've gotten two ways. I can enter information. In fact, freeways. I cannot elected to it so I can call it a I can pre select, I reckon. Type something in all I gotta do is highlight across making good blue And then I could put may. In truth, nobody is gonna be a main intro of course. Book. No, I've got a main control because it went blue. I can't change it. So let me diss chairs on Twitter. Others wanting to show that I can type whatever I want into it. So I've got intro now as well as it putting it on this sheet. It also put it on the timeline, which is great, because as I'm visually looking down the timeline, the most sections I can create, the more I could move around. I'm gonna call this one here second, let me think. I call it a second. Be so I click on the section Eddie's again I got section B click OK, and he puts a bill and it's also put a B in the timeline. I could just continue going down until these various parts that I might want to actually signify Ah, you to see I've got here and there's a nice little passage here. Nicely Section of 16 Last cola Fast Section 16 section toughening No. One is 16 sanction on again. It's here on the timeline so I can say, Well, I'm gonna go from B. I'm gonna look at that section a very dissection being. I want to love a good 16 so I could just go over where its and they put my cursor over 16 sanction and it takes me to it. This information will also be printed on a pdf or if you hard copy on a printer, that information will remain there for you. If I want to take it out. Double click I conflict. Remove. It's gone. And so was that information there. But creating different sanctions on here is a great method of moving around. We can also access him from here. Drop down menu takes me to sanction. Be so that's a really, really good way off labelling a sheet to make it work for you. No items that we can use to help us play songs alone. Selves is to me one of the best ones is the looping system. No, I've got this little section here. No, it will loop because it has got repeat bass here. But say I just want to do this part here. I want to hear this riff. What I could do, I click on the first No, off the bar. Hold down with the left mouse. I then scroll across to the end off the bar where the end of the refugee, my bowling with their I want to finish up, Take it to the I make sure that this loop function is highlighted. I make sure the counters on because I'm gonna play over this. I want to count in or will be able to hear it prosecutes. We chance to pick up bank town played. No, I've got set up. I can click play and it's repeating. They will keep doing that until I stop because he's still highlights it a again. It was not a game. It will Onley go away when I disc lick on the window that will get rid. But that is a wonderful way off. Being able to work on a section to learn riffs, just breaking them down piece by piece. Just highlight what I want. I say it doesn't have to be bar by bar. I could just take this little section here, and he will just play that as you can hear. So we've got the looping system that really allows us to actually pit drill down onto the sanctions that we are looking out. So that is a wonderful piece that could be added to it. We've talked about the zooms before I could zoom in. So if I want to really see a thing in clogs up, I consume in wherever I want. So I come. So let's go Bike 225. As you can see, we've got lots of ways of maneuvering around these sheets. We can take a section if you was wanted to extend a part of a sheet, say I really like about the 16 station. I went and removed. Let me scroll down and find again. I thought sexually was really cool. I won't play that again. I can highlight this. I can copy now. I want to put it at the end. So I'm gonna go to the end of the sheet on. What I'm gonna do is I'm gonna add another bar by clicking in the last bar on, then doing the left move key started the right move Key have got a new bar was open all I can. No go on paste. And it's hardly that bar for me. That's it. That's wonderful. No, Also on the pace side, I couldn't put a call. I can say that this is an F seven chord, so I come now if I wanted to copy and paste that on, I want all that information with that. I could click copy, I go to here, I'm gonna add a new bar. So I do that right? This my bar? No. If I want corn information and extra information like the text that might have put above something, I will go to special paste. And here we've got more information. Do you want the cords. Yes. So I want the tank storm of the timers door automation and all that information there. Click. And it's put it all in. If I wanted to do multiples of this, I doing overwrite. Most click. There's I'm gonna pace this ongoing special pace number of pace. So I want four of four of them. Then I could do four, and he doesn't four times for me. Copy and pasting. I just do it straight inside. Highlight on. Then I do a right most click on it takes me to those parts of the things that I could do if I wanted to put a bar in here, Put an extra bath. Some reason I want out of a bar in here. I won't go to the right hunt side. What I'm gonna do, I'm going to write most Click Bob insert bar on its inserted a bar for us and I can put more information in. Not so when you're in a bar. I could do this, right? Mouse click on it pulls up the same menu that you get up here, but I'm working inside. I can add and change information in the notes. I can even insert a B Dagon. Delete a beat if I want to. So all that this here could be doing from here is well, some of them I've got keyboard shortcuts, and after a while you get used to using them. I can put a fax in at this point. So if I want you to look got off field to something dead No, Grace, no. I could do that from here. Not that you're really gonna be doing a lot of this if you're just editing. But some of those already bean previously don't on. But I just wanted to show you all off the information that you can do. We just being in the barber, just doing the right mouse click. Let me go back. I want to put that window. I never item that I want to show you on here. Is this icon here? They said triangle. A lineup of design money is called. When I clicked on what do you see? All these little blue little lines triangles appeared. This allows me to raise the bass the way I want them. No, I've got this bar here, which is Ah, repeat bar on. I want this bar, which is part off it. I wanted up here. I don't want it down that I wanted up here. So what I can do? I've got these zero plus minus. If I do that, which was a plus, it adds another bar to that line. So now I've got all of this on the I can pick up by Right. Most left most. I hover over the blue and then click on grab, but little triangle on. I could move the slider open down if I wanted to get rid of that bar down to here. I click a minus. If I wanted to get this one days that they're all on the same, but I could do another minus. So using these plus or minus exactly really arranged the layout, and I might want this not to be on. He I I just wanted to actually look so you started from that part. Now I've got this late across, which is fine, but I've got this section here that I probably label it so I could label things and items. I don't want this c I want this all on one section. So if I do that I've got that whole section there looking quite smart, and then I want to a new section here. That is a really good function for organizing all the the notation on your sheet. There are a lot more items on here that as you develop, you will start to use. I have gone through what could be seen as some of the major things that would be extremely useful to you when you start to work and edit on a maneuver around a guitar profile. 7. Working With Soundbanks: this lesson, we are going to look using the various sound banks that come with Guitar Pro seven. When you first open a brand new file, if you're working with a completely brand new fire, you click on file and you can click on new. It asked you a couple of questions. First of all, it says, What kind of a trucking adding is going to be strained? Orchestra drums? Maybe not gonna worry about media in the moment. But if we're looking at stringed, if we click on a acoustic guitar, we have got various styles off sound that will be created from that preset there that we've selected. If we go to electric guitar, as you see, there's a lot more now if we was just to leave it, like I said, I'm just gonna electric guitar. It will install this preset for the electric guitar, but you might think I don't really want that one. I want something else. I want to cheers the sound, So to do that, you can come down here to the sound, and you have got different times off guitar clean guitar sounds that are presets in here. You can see quite a nice selection off different sounds here that are built in. We've also got signature. Look about. There is an awful lot off signature sounds that we can use on a lot of them. They are hinting at different types, off sounds, using songs. Some of them are very, very clear. Beautiful day is going to be you two, always with me and your Satriani. You can just carry on Crazy Diamond, you know, so that they are trying to create of sound that was used in a specific song on you, Just Roma as a preset. So if I was to pick, let's go with I did see one. I was looking for it. And of course, um, let's let's go with beautiful day on. Then I say, Create the sound. No, that will be played on my guitar will be the sound that is being played off by their will. So very similar to what the age was using. So if I just put in something very, very simple, I will put into four I find, Let me just play them through on. We get a very, very good representation off the edge. Heavy D lake sound coming through a nice clean chorus e effect in the So we've got that Sam Bank that's being created. I've bean writing a little bit more. Andi, I think. Well, I need to hear something slightly different. Well, I can come to this section here on I could start to actually play with settings that are on here because we've got the original sentinel issued Emily's things as well. Uh, boat if I come down here by clicking on this this along from here, where you see all these little images are different effects I click on here on I've got access to changing things. So I've got a sound downer for Well, yeah, I don't really want him to play on like a Telecaster. Let's put him on something else. Let's put him on a different time. Let's put him on a struck. What would this have? Certainly like a strapped. So I could do that. I could change the EQ. You'd I can change it to a different pedal. So I've got an e que either. But I can change things on this so I can play with all these different effects. So these then, if I click on the icon. I can also change settings. So you've got your own little many pedal board here that you can use a lot of these when you look at them. They are trying to represent an amplifier. What I see there, we're looking at a box, so I've got the box amplify. So what I've got is I've got my EQ you. Then I've got this on overdrive. Game pedal going into the amplify it, then coming out. Typical. If we're looking at the edge, gotta have a delay pedal in so I can change the delays on that. Andi, we'll take it even one stage further. We have got a noise. Get on a log again that we can use Actually got the compressor at the end as well as the noise. Get working there so I can build my change of toe effect. What I want on, of course, I can add more to it. I could switch them off, so I condemn on here them without the Q saw. If I got back here, I e have a strong It's trying relish. Just try something less poem so you can see the difference in the sounds Baritone seven. Oh, if I decided I don't want the clean guitar on the again, I could just totally just change the whole thing so I can go in here and say, Well, not want electric guitar. I want it is an overdrive signature on I've got all these different types of signature styles Don't look back in anger, You know you did they give you such a hint toe? What? You're looking out. We look at Joe Mayor? No, Let's play up through John Mayer style. No, I'm sure you can see no. All these different ways that I could start to work with these different sound banks to create my own son. I'm not just stuck with just a generic sound interpretation. Are we gonna be you? Then there's a finger style of picking a base lamp of your bomb. The bass. He's just changed the way we have the dynamics palm muting. What percentage is a par muting, uh, or two Aleve ring. If you want the car twice the ring out, I can set those an automatic dance. How we change the weights. Don't I tend to just leave them is picked. But if there was something particular that I want to know what this is, how I would change it. There is a vast amount off information on did sound details that I could change now if I got to this sound here. Now, this is a pre existing file. Andi, I have got lead guitar, which I just know clicked on on. This is telling me is using a distorted guitar. If I got a riven guitar, we could see electric guitar clean vocals. They tend to use different things, like vocal whose you've got different ways off creating different sounds for the vocalize. If you have a vocal line in the of course, you can change the vocal line to become something different. I want to change that and say, Until I want it to be a synthesizer playing something I wanted as a lead on that I take these different types of sounds so I could choose the vocal line to be something else. So if I go here on, no play could be a nice way instead of bringing. If you don't like the sound of what's being used on the melody and you want to bring it mawr into the song That's how you could chairs that by using the same banks. No, we can do the same way about the base. We can chance the scent on the bass acoustic bass electric bass on a lot of signature style bases out there as well, which pretty good fun to work with. I can also change an instrument. So if I have got the rhythm guitar, I think What do we do to sound light as a panel? So I can go across here on I can choose electric piano on a gallon and a lovely singing she wants others look. Playing with these on Fleetwood, I would imagine, is very much Fleetwood. Mind I go, Here we go. No, he's become a piano. Before it was just a straightforward G town, lots of different ways where you can affect a pre edited file that you've downloaded from ultimate guitar or 1/3 party source. Or if you're creating your own individual guitar profile, this is Hey, you can start to work with the various sandbanks in the 8. Exporting Your Work: in this lesson, we are going to learn various ways we can export the work words We have completed different ways. We can use exports to create a variety of files. No, the way we access the export is click on file until we get to the export menu, which then opens up always various forms that we have available to us. Over the years. Guitar Pro has changed on grown bigger on different foul four months, half changed. You might have a friend or a colleague that has unfolded. Version My house flinging Top Row five, possibly guitar pro. Six. When you save a file here you go to save or save hours. It saves it in guitar problem. 74 months. If you send that file to your friends, they would not be available to open it up. So if you do know you have somebody that doesn't have Guitar Pro seven or you're unsure as well as saving it is a file. You might want to use one of these formats where you would export it as a guitar Pro X, which is No. Six former or a guitar prop. Five format. That way, when you send in the file, they will be able to open up the file. I'll be able to accept access All this data that you've been working on that is one way of just generalizing on exporting your work. If you're working with someone that doesn't have access, do get help. Role. But you want to send them all this information. All these trikes with all these different parts. The eight others in the you might want to consider sending it as a MIDI file. No, I've done this in the past. What? I want to bring this information into a door. So I've created this or having edited a file that I have on the front I've downloaded from Ultimately town on. Then I'm going to use that information to build it as a workable back in trike on stuff like pro tools. Cuba's logic but logic on none of them does will import this information as a guitar profile. So the way you would do that is to save it as a midi file. I click on Midi Andi, you will just right in information on will deform what you're looking at and it will create a MIDI file that could be then imported into your door on it will have all this information that you've already prepared. And, of course, then you would assign that deep the information to virtual instruments inside the door. Next we have asking. Know what? You can use that fault. If you wanted to send this as a text for Mert, you would save it as asking. Now what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna save it to my desktop. Gonna be all day, tripper. Text save out phone. Then I'm going to go to my desk. Help on I am going to get the day trip of file that I've just saved on. I am going to open that file one second. Find that there we go. Now, if I click on text, it creates ah, file like this, which, if you have been working with the ultimate guitar before, you worked with over types off the web systems file service like tapa. You'll probably recognize this for months. Were it's got all the dotted lines with the information were to be if you don't timings information on that very basic. But that is really your original version. Off tablets, John. Of course, we've got the legend. There's sent out with all the information that you might want to pass on. Of course, being a text file, you can add any additional information to that file before you send it. So that's husky music Eggs M. L is a format that we can use for passing your file. Information between various types of programs are similar today. Tripper If we wanted to be able to trance base if I wanted to be able to open this data in program light Sebelius, this would be our former that I could use Final score. Same thing. So if you have various programs that read information on, do you want to get as much detail across is possible Using music. XML will work if it is to work with a number type off program that uses a format similar. So the ones that stand out our final Doric or Sebelius amuse score. They are the ones. There also are foot party programmes, music or CR programs. On smart score, they will work. You can also use this form art to work in things like you bays logic pro on Sona so you can save it in that former on Be able to or open it up. Sadly, it doesn't work in pro tools. You would have to use the midi former that I mentioned earlier. So that is the music eggs. Mm, Our format. So, no. Pdf on this one is it really doesn't need a lot of explaining on this. This is if you just want to send the sheet to somebody. So it is seen in the same former as what you're seeing. Refuse to print it out. You deserve the fires. A pdf saving your hard drive. And you can email it directing on the information they will see once they open the pdf. What your seen on screen? Here now, Audio. This one is for more. You can actually create your own backing tracks on, then save them as an MP three and then play along with them. Send them off to friends. Colleagues are students with this audio foreman. Also as you've created the fire but your various tranq CIA Um, in the timeline, if I wanted to create a backing track, but I didn't want the lead guitar is the league hotel. Ah e try. OK, now, if I didn't want that to be included in the all your file, all I have to do is click mute. So now what we have is a trunk that has just got all the instruments playing. But the lead now, of course, the problem you've got here. This song doesn't have any drums at the beginning. So what I would do is ard the click trunk to the back of it. So know when you play it, let me go back to the beginning. So if I played no Yes, he's gonna lead guitar. Well, that you play in the league A town is your part of your practice so I can eliminate various instruments if I have ah, friend of mine's best guitar players, well, again, I want to take the base out, so I just want to keep it as a rhythm guitar on the base. I commute about so I could eliminate the different tracks that I don't want in this. If I want to create a backing trike with an instrument that's missing, that I am actually going to practice playing off the top of it. So it makes it a great way creating workable, unusable files. So I'm just gonna put them back to normal. But what you will do, Go expert on, then audio, and it comes up with a number of varieties. I can have one of flank f hook different formats. If you're unfamiliar with some of them four months, then you probably haven't software that will read them. But he suddenly says to you, Can you sending me in a flag? That's how you do it. Exports selection on Lee. I have. If you was descent. No, I leave that off because sometimes when I'm working, I might have highlighted two bars and I forgot about it on. Then when I got to export it, will Onley send that information? They will record that record a far for each trike. Now, if I'm sent is an MP three. I don't wanna be sending multiple files to anybody, so don't leave that off. But if you did want tohave individual files off all these instruments, you would switch that toe arm. Do I want the metro minute? If the Mets rooms that Yes, I do want it in their Some people like to leave that off. Even though the Emmett Strong was in there in the recording. That's what you twits that off. Do I want to get rid of the counting at the beginning again? That so I don't tend to like having accounting quality best but acceptable again if you want to keep. If you're sending a file data eyes on issue that you gotta be a world. Then again, you could reduce that down slightly. Variable bit rate, a constant bit rate Again. That depends if you're bringing this into a video recording. Normalisation. Do I want a balanced sound? I leave that off. Uh, once I've got the son that I want coming out off the system here, I don't tend to bowl for changing mount. So once I'm happy with all this information here I click Export. Now he's going to do the whole file for me. So I click export and again asked me word I wanted I'll do the usual. I'll bring it onto my desktop so I click. Save on it is no working through on creating this file. So once he's finished, let's play it right. We have now got the MP free and I'm gonna open it with my Windows media plan. I'm trying with all the interest, including Remember, if I had taken away one of the instruments, it wouldn't be in there now. So that is a really cool function on. I do use that a lot for my students, where I can just not together a backing track for them to play. And they can lord it under iPhone on they just play along with it in practice. It No, no, we have got PNG. Now. This this just creates images off your files on it will create an image off each individual . Follow. If you saved as a PdF, you would have all the pages on this. We have four pages. If I was a select export as a P and G, he would ask me what I want to save it. No, I could save it to my desktop. What What he will do. It will create four images off each individual page, and it will number them Want to free for on. You can use that to bring into your website or just to send out an image to something. Doesn't want to have a pdf You just want to post the name is Darren Yapped. So that's Hey, would create P, G, P and G's of each off the files, so there is a lot of functionality here that we can use the exporting information. 9. Working With Virtual Instruments: this lesson, we are going to look out working with virtual instruments. No guitar pro allows you to enter information using virtual instruments, making it very easy as every guitarist are a key ballplayer or even a drummer toe. Enter data to your tamps that the 1st 1 we're gonna be looking at is entering data in a guitar virtual instrument. And the way we bring that hope is we just click on the guitar shaped icon in the top right on corner. Now they still lives is to see a fretboard on DWI can move around as you see I'm moving around. It indicates the note that we are looking out, though of course, this is dependent on the tuning that you have used. Currently I'm using standard tuning. If we have changed the tunings, then these notes would alter. Now I've already opened up a track view on we've got all our editing icons that we can use for different no values. Now if I just wanted to enter a note, I could first of all, choose which values if I just wanted to make it as 1/4 note. I've got an F Then I want you have to use the left or right icon in this case because I'm at the beginning. The truck I have to use the right movement. Key takes me to the next position on. I could enter a G I live across. Then a C on a school for E takes me to the end of the bar. The virtual instrument does allow me to build up cords. If I go back to this here instead of moving across, I could no buildup the court. And of course, you can use the cord view menu. But this is another former where if you're comfortable, you can see it on the guitar. What you're playing, But you don't know, actually want the court is or what? The different melodies that you're looking guy. You could just map it out by using the fretboard here on also your guitar. It's in your hand. No, of course, you do have to understand how to cheers the timings. This course really is aimed at getting to use the functions and not about transcribing. This is purely how to use the program, but of course we've a little bit of practice. You can start to look at the timings and change might be a long winded operation Fear. But that's what learning Tam Legion, how to script on how to transport transcribe songs is all about so I can adjust different note values. Of course, once I've done that, I've got to make sure the BIS balanced. I won't. We do have the assistance. Hear from Guitar Pro That tells us that we were looking for another note because we see we still got a red bass We got came to up. We got too many. Are we not good enough? Well, we've got 12 free. We need another. Are we another eighth? Nor or we were changed out on that would take us to a complete 444 time bar and said, This is about actually transcribing. This is how we can use a virtual instruments. So I've got the first strike that is set up was a guitar. No. Let's aren't another truck. No, For this, I'm gonna choose over. The reason I'm doing this is because I want toe a look at different times of instruments I can use. I can go to orchestra on. I'll choose acoustic piano. No, if I am on this track and the way I can see these trances by opening his window here. I'm on the acoustic piano now. I could enter data through this virtual instrument here, but really, what I want to do is open up the keyboard. So what I've got here for the keyboard, I can no start to enter information. We're not worried about how we would see this as a tub because Millikan a keyboard. But this is how I can actually create backing Tracks are long for my guitar lines by using the over instruments that are available here in guitar Pro. But with the virtual instrument, I can actually assume I am playing a piano. I go across again. I've got a step across as I move through each part to actually enter different notes the same. But I would for the gitana. But it does allow me to structure cords as I would see them on a piano. No, we've done the acoustic piano. Let's have a look on how we worked with drums. So I'm gonna add enough truck because aren't this time drums? We've got various types of drum kits, but I'm just gonna go for a straightforward drum kit as we see here. No. When I brought this up, I don't if you saw it. But this icon no became visible. I click on here and it takes me to a drum system where I can actually see the type all of drums that I've got drums and Cymbals. Noto enter data are not information with a drum track. It is slightly different than when we are into data with a guitar or keyboard. Why don't I do? I'm just gonna zoom this in so you just can see the truck a little bit clearer. No, What I have got to do is to think of the bar as a complete drum. Patton. No, I've got the different drum instruments here and what I'm gonna do. Festival. I'm gonna lay down a symbol that's playing across. If I will just go for a closed high heart so I could look along here for the different parts of I don't see it. Then I can just pull it up here. Now I've got high heart here, which is open. So I'm gonna click on that. I'm gonna fill this barrel with Abe's. No. If I want to enter the kick drum. All I do is I go back under the beat of the bar that I want the kick drum on I would click here so if I want it down the one on the free go here and I enter the kick drum If I want the snow to work on the to count I could go on, put that on there And if I want to snow again on the four count I just go to the fourth beat on. I can put the snow in here now if I play that bathroom No, I am not a drama. I am a terrorist. So putting together drum pounds not the easiest thing for me But you can see how obstructed to construct that If I played them Let's see what he sounds like Obviously had the over tracks in the background there there was playing through But you could hear the high heart You could hear the kick drums on You gotta also hear the snow on I can even a copy I'm paste build up the trunk So I've no got to bars Where the drums One minute I'm just gonna mutate, the other trying. So you can just really focus on the drum kit coming from here. Okay. What? I didn't hear That was the snow. It wasn't coming through very, very low. So let's have a look out. Just bringing that snow and I'm gonna try side stick. Nam is gonna go for us, so come back here. I delete that one out. So let's go back in again. So no less. Just listen to the track again. I've just muted out the other instruments so we could just clearly hear the drums. Always playing from the beginning. There you have a created myself. A drumbeat there. Probably never get the job is being a drummer, But I'm sure you get the idea now. You can use that toe edit drum patterns as well from any files that you've downloaded. So you can change things slightly If you don't like the drum part that's on there and you want to change one of the actual drum pieces when this is how you would do it. Nice Little touched that have included that. No, on Lee, Can we work on guitars on the key, boiled some pants. But now we can also work on drums as well through this virtual instrument 10. How To Transpose Tracks: Hi. How are you doing? It's Jeff Sinker from Scott Gets on lessons online. Don't come this week Gonna go on bring you a number lesson to toil on Using guitar pro seven this'll subjects that I'm looking out is transposing how a lot of our son's out. There are transport on the transports, but they've written for songs that have bean tuned down on half step whole step rich one a approach it from a typical band is guns and roses. They chewed down 1/2 step. So if you wanted to play along with this, you gotta go through about process of Juliet and 1/2 Tom, which too many people like myself. You got a guitar that's got locking system a bit of a pain. So what I want to do today is to show you how you can bring it back into a normal to me. Because if you is to transpose this down are transported option. I sit down to a standard tuning on march off these notes would go out of position. Now the actual music down here is presented it front. So why would we go through the courses until we arrange everything So what I'm gonna show you today is the method I use just to bring this back So it plays it and normal stamp opportunities while complaint with my guitar, You can see at the moment he says he's tuned down half step e flat B flat, G flat B flat. So if I played along with this and shoot, Daniel could play with a record. But instead of a nuisance, gotta keep chopping and changing the tunings on this. So let's have a look at a method of how we can bring this bike. So all the fingering is correct in a sense from when we playing but his bike in Istanbul. So what you gotta do is you've got to select each actual track in turn. So I'm gonna go across and let's do the voice first. Use the boys on you Gonna click on track here. He's got the tuning. We got a free flying cetera. So you click on that. It brings up this tuning window. So you're gonna click on the tuning? I'm gonna walk across guitar six. Drink like No, because we're a vocal hell. Let's try that one again. We are going to change this round. Actually, it doesn't really matter. We can take a tower here. Six string standard shooting Isis Just the fingering all Keep that, Gregory. Well, we want to keep the fingering They wanna play Play is he's written So I'm gonna pee now What last Don? It's moved Everything Only beauty that little flick on the screen there It's no Brought this up to a standard tuning Gonna do the same on the queen chorus Guitar on We can hear on again A click in the box six Drink standard tuning Keep fingering Now if I'm just gonna move this off screen just just kind of watch Do you think happens? Because what we're looking for is this tremendous sin as we see it does now I can't play this it the ball because obviously, heart the music he's down tune So we've got to go through each one in turn I can't hear on This one is another guitar, so I'm going across extreme details strain. Now we're still gonna change any of your settings for you sound so don't worry. You gotta go back and redo a lot. What have I got here? This is the base. So basically, town on the fourth string Standard guitar for a again. This is a guitar so we can go click on here it are six string tuning synth Keep figuring synth way across here now the same we are going to select. We're still gonna take the guitar on this wall. Six drinks base I have exchanged. My eyes are deceiving goodbye to this town there. I thought it was a base symbol. It's just changed. Trick tell. Six strings tuning, um works the base. So basically, town four, string the drums. I don't have to change I that doesn't actually alter anything. I don't have to change anything on the drum pounds whatsoever on that. So that's what they always remember that if you've got acoustic, you don't need to change that. It's on Lee Stringed instruments keyboards that you have to change the cushion that could really way. So what we should have? No, When we play this bike is the song sounding correct? But it is actually gonna be a hard talk back in standard tuning soul. And you just go back to here. Let's just plain fruit. We are the only family. I think that we want Justice check guy here, he's going back to standard tuning. So if you send out to someone no, it is, Then it well, good to be true. Down on you've written it, they're actually adjusted to standard tuning. Now, of course, we could do the opposite as if we wanted to take it down 1/2 step for whatever reason. That may be your working vocalist, and you want to be using this to help build about controlling help with the band. But he's an arm l account, so you just works the opposite. So if I was to click on here, the track pull appear and he says, I want a tooni down after on a whole talk, I just come across here on we all off the different shootings that we can use talking to down 1/2 step. Do you remember? Keep the fingering because you're gonna just down so you wanna de tune the guitar down. It's very complicated when you adjust the figures because you really have to go back and check everything. It sure is crap because it does tend to leave to publish. It is coming from sometimes strange, very strange positions for the fingers. So do be careful on that one there. No, but we're just gonna leave that council on. No, I'm then, of course. Don't forget. Save us. Gotta save it somewhere. So make sure that when you do this, you do actually save it back to your machine. Or else. Obviously, when you re open it again, it's all gonna be back down 1/2 tone. Well, I do hope you find this little short tutorial useful if you did. Don't forget. Click on. That's a scrap on them. Always kind of working on new things for people just starting at the top seven on Die. Also have on the website and all the arguments to it. I've got a playlist with a few more lessons for people who are just starting out using guitar pro seven. Well, I'm gonna let you go on. I will speak to you again soon. Until then, Goodbye 11. Using The Scale Window Tool: and this lesson, we gonna look at another function that Guitar Pro offers on that is the ability to see a scale work inside that scale. Never can even use that as we transcribing. And we want to keep a melody in the key that we've written the courts into all we can use it as a means off, practicing or learning new skills or as a teacher like myself. I can use this to create information she's to pass on to my students. So what we have here on let me just clean that up. I have got a guitar file ready to go. Now I'm going to look at creating some sheets for my students that will indicate different skills to them that I can use as a handout. No first thing I have to do. I got tools on, then click on scales. Now it opens up these two windows for May. I have got a fretboard of virtual fret bald on because it has been selected. Here's a default. See, Major, I am no displaying all of the notes. Foresee, Major. Now I can change on the keys upto what? I just want to point out here is All of the notes in the scale are circular. The route notes are square. I can show you how that changes. Despite changing this two D Instantly, we saw movement of the notes on the D No became the square on. We see the change in the note values. We've got an f sharp in a C shout. No, because we've got the scale of D. Also, it shows this information down here, which shows the intervals in the scale. Now, if you're not familiar with intervals on how they operate on a major scale, you've got the information here. We have got the steps DT whole step E to F shallow hole stem, half whole whole honors. We understand if you've got any major scale theory, That is what I like to call the algebra off a major scale. Now, to make things simple, I'm just gonna keep this in the key off. See, I want to show this information on the sheet in eighth. Notes wanna make them so they can play a little bit harder than normal on. I want to create a scale that takes you from the sea arm moves across one octave but uses what we would call a free notes for string, which again are term used for a lot of guitarists. So I'm going to start off here. So I click on that sea and it puts it on the A from which I expected to cause that's what we're looking at. I want to step forward so I can click on here states me to the next one and there's my d Step forward on there is my e So I'm going to step forward a gain. But this time I want to move up Now, This one I have to do physically so I can use the keys on the key part. I can do the left, right, open down. But I'm going to use the mouse. No, I want to bring in the F on, then stepped forward again. I've got the g stepped forward again on I've got the A. I gotta step forward. A move up on I am going to be using B step forward on the sea just to make sure it's free nuts for string out One on one. No, over on. That will take me to the d. So there I have got the information. I don't even know it's there. They've all changed across to apes. Let's put them back in because I stepped across and didn't change that function to a Nathan or but there we can see that I have got a whole bar populated in eight free knows history, but you could see no worry about the terminology. What I want you to see here is that we have got access to a scale on. We can pick up the information on the fretboard. Let's start to look at things a little bit more exotic. We have the natural minor. I change it on. We have C minor. Remember, this will be C minor, so the intervals will change. So we've got two functions here that are very useful for us as learning tools. One I can create sheets to as a learner. I can see the intervals that being created from these scales. I could move down here on. I can pick up Dorgan soon as I move between these. No one is with Dorian. More things change. There's on natural minor. There's Dorian, the room not in change, cause the root note won't change until I do something on here again, you see? To fly across the the intervals again will indicate What are the intervals? Dorian moored a fridge in more. We can see that shifting across here. We can start toe, look up different information. I can say I want to go to the major scale and I want to be in C and I want to look at the arpeggios that I can create. So I click on here. I could take out that information there on what I'm left with is are packed your positions in the key off. See, I can look at the tryouts. It will show me the information on the triad's which won't change if you think about this. Because the fact that the triad on the arpeggio usher with same information because we're just operating in C major, I'm sure you can see the functionality that this allows on. There are so many different positions. He I've got the blues minor hex, A tonic. There is just ah huge catalogue off information and skills that you can check up on and you can see unlearn. You can combine the A Olean scale with the arpeggio and again. The information is down in front of us now. I could then use that to map. So I wanted to go from the sea so I could just build up the arpeggios from the information , the uses of this. Every time I start to work with this scale sanction, it just immediately opens up new ideas that I can use for this. It is a wonderful tool that I'm only beginning to scratch the surface. But as a teacher, I find it absolutely. Ah, wonderful tool to be able to use. I use this to on a main board hooked up to a big display on. It allows me to explain things in much greater detail what we're talking about, especially when it comes to this information here which is talking about the intervals in the scales. 12. Working With Stylesheets: this lesson. We are going to be looking up working with style sheets now astonish. Eat allows us to change the way items and information is displayed on our guitar profile on the way we access this menu we can ever go to file. Then style sheet. All we come press F seven on the keyboard and I will bring up the same. So we've got a keyboard function there for that as well. Once you've clicked on that, you bring up this menu. Now we have looked at it previously when we was looking at cords. What we gonna do now is look at it in a little bit more detail on, See how we can change, in effect, the information that is available to us. So, as I said the first time we looked at this for changing the positions off the court diagrams so we can see here we've got on top of the score, which is what he defaults to from a cent style sheet that is already installed with guitar pro a Z we saw previously. I can change it so the chords will be displayed on the top on. We can also change the size off the display just by using one of these sliders. There is a lot more function here that's available on. As we can see, we've got five. Head is across here allowing us to change things. Now the 1st 1 is like you would find in a word document where we have got a different format for the Plage display on. We have a drop down menu on as in word, we have got the different for months. Now, if you're gonna be printing any of this information or working with any online medium, I would recommend that you leave it at that. Want that? It defaults toothy a four orientation. I always leave minute portrait, but you can change it to landscape if you was working, Combining this information whether a PowerPoint display which tends to be based on a landscape, a lot of these details you will leave his defaults. But if there's a particular thing that you want to do with it, this is where we gonna change from the tuning display. If we see here, we have ah displaying standard tuning. But if we change that, we can are we will be available printed on here. But if we just want to take that off some reason we don't want to show that readers chairs the menu on a plan, and there he goes, disappears off the side. I always say, Leave it there. We can change the position that we see that want to see that the bomb or at the top we can also frame it to it stands out more so again gives it more into kind of a standard for any student who is looking for information just by put in a frame around it. That is your page unscored format that we can change an altar. Let's have a look at systems and staves. This top one here system indentation. It's the same as if you was writing a paragraph in a document. It allows us to start this first staff further into the page. So if I click on that, I change this to 10 mil, then apply. You can see that movement in again. I don't change anything like that. But if there is a reason you want to do this, this is the way you do it on. You've got all these different options have already been pre selected display stave lines when using slash notation. Well, this becomes apparent when we are looking out the slash notation. Now, I'm just gonna close this down, bring up eight another window on will be able to show you what that means. If we have the staff notation information here, then we can start to change things. So I bring the hope on We've got the staff, the style sheet. If I display stuff lines when used his slash north station. If I take that often apply. You can see Now we've lost the line runner about back display bottom lines when using slash again oppressed up. And we've just got a straight forward line diagram, no different parts that we cannot display extending bar lines in the system that I lows as you see the bars to continue all the way through. Now some people might say that's useful myself. I don't really bother about about, so I'm gonna take that one out. Que pour on shifty tuning impact standard notation. Leave this because you have got the facility of bringing in a caper which gets used more and more in modern music today. So I leave that a standard because if you are applying a capable to any of your songs you want this information to be the armed available to the user, the bracket section again. I just leave that I don't really want brackets on the so, but you've got means off changing on information group tablet Genest under notation. I just leave it as a default tracks single track display on first policy of for system of each page again. I use this just as it eyes a standard. If I was to click that, we would lose that information just telling us what the track information is. You see, we're losing that. What? The instrument is that we're looking out again. Not many times I would change anything on this section here headed on falter. Whenever you're looking at this, this is worth the information here is positioned on how you see it so we can change the funds. We have got ways of changing them. So if you wanted to change it to something strange or something that you felt was a little bit more trendy, you can do that and it will change. So once I've selected that information from now on it will make that change. I'm just gonna leave and go back to my no more one which was the times, Roman numeral. Because I just work with that. I just find it a lot easier. Teoh present the information, but you do have the ability No off changing these. So if you want to do your own kind of design on this, this is where you'll do in shares the title subtitle again. I can take it out so I don't want the title there. For some reason I don't want it. That's how I could change it. So all this pretty fine information here I can take it out off the I can also have it. So the information still there improve and the following pages Because the standard you get the first page of the information. The remaining pages are just notation and tablature information. But you can include that information on subsequent pages. Should you wish we can scroll down on, we can see all these different parts of information that we could out or change. Should we wish to on that detail would be accessed by going to the trunk page here takes them styles. We can change any off the fonts that we use. Now we have got standard ones here that they use. But when we change and we'll look at some of the pre defined templates, you'll see how these could be affected. We've got musical symbol notations. No, this one here, uh, we've got a club, a global stone, which is classic. That is what you're seeing here. If I click on jazz on apply, you can see the imagery changing here to more of 100. Didn't jazz style depending What kind of 40 musically you're playing and using? That's the ideal. If you wanted to make it look really kind of jazzy Click on the jazz on That will change all this detail information making it little bit more 100 But I'm gonna stick with a classical style I'm just a classical style person Go onto the notation on that We have different menu options here. Rhythmic, hiding, tumble teacher when using standard notation so I could take that out, just apply on you see, all that was just changed by applying that No, some people use that where they also then just take out the notation so you've got the tablet ship on the river written together so you don't have to worry about the standard notation to give you the times on the values of the North. This gives it for you. Symbols indicate with a string is turns to artificial harmonics again, it's worth while he keeping that alternate representation, see which is common time for 44 and 22 in signatures. Should you wish to? If I click that because we're in a 44 changes to seek common time again, most people have issues to seeing for four display arpeggio arrows. If you was indicating which way on arpeggio would be being played open all down this bike ticking, this will actually sure information again. I've left that as a default because it's information that you would really like to pass on to. People always displayed tied notes on tablets here. If I click that, you know it displays all of the type notes in the tablet it Now we will always display when you cross a bar on they will be in brackets, but when I click on that section there, it shows a even inside the bar again. I don't bother with that. I think the less information when it comes retired, not the better. So it is treating it as the idea. We not playing it. We're holding that No value. I've had you be symbol for all pro. Just leave that us. Astounded are the slide symbol for the slide effect. Again, that is information that I would tend to keep that more than anything else, display Fratton strings off single note in slash notation. So if I go here and click, that can be useful book again. He does get very, very clotted. So I don't bother with that. No. Here. When it comes to the fingering from 1234 If you're gonna be switching between different players, you might want to alter things. If you got one tablet to this written for life, done the player Be honest with you, right handed player. This is where you would switch it so I can alter the fingers on the forms if I want to do that. But again, most people have got used to recognizing whether that lefty lefties are right handed people , so just leave it as it is. So they are your different options that you've got to work with. Moustache. She's now. We've also got here where we've got some presets. I tend to work in the rock style one. It just changes a little bit of the information on the side. The weight Lacey's out. You've got the jazz style, which we've looked up previously that really as you can see now that is the full jazz style template being put into place. Here, uh, looks pretty neat. Looks very hum written the way it's being done. So if that's your thing and you, like about four month, then you will be going for the Jazz. Uh, classic style, pretty much girls with a standard layer that most replay used to again. I don't like that part, and that's why I go back to the rock style. I just prefer it being a bit more of a laid out for months. But the classic style is what you'd see in most books. Well, uh, no to me. I will stick with the rock style. Of course, you can create your own because once you eventually don't any tweaks to this, this is will be the menu where you would cite save the style or if you wanted to, lord your star, cause they just preset if you had another preset users styles. I've got these kind of things set up here. I couldn't take this one here on. It applies the information that I want that I use a certain style. This is the one I'd set up for making sure that the courts would be showing a both the core positions on the tub on the notation. It is very much similar to the rock warm, but just a couple of tweaks here that I've done to get my own it layout. So that's how we bring that in help. So that's how we change the layout for no Onley viewing Ellen here, but also the way appears when we printed out on a sheet.
