About This Class

We don't all know how to design flawless, pixel-perfect websites and applications.

Some of us simply don't have the time or inclination to learn design (did I mention it's really hard?) and have to accept that design is going to be done by "someone else."

Does this sound like you? Well, if it does, fear no more. As a business guy, developer guy, or just plain vanilla product guy you have don't have to learn how to design to get great design. You have options.

This class is designed to help the "Photoshop-phobic" of us to understand and explore our options for designing our projects. We'll dive deep into the worlds of templating, design contests, and contracting to come up with a design that will make Dave Morin cry (and not because his startup imploded).

This is a crash course for entrepreneurs, developers, product managers, and just about any of you who shudders when you hear "layer masking" or "responsive grids."

What you'll learn:

  • How to budget and plan your project timeline to include external design resources.
  • How to find and pick easily customizable templates on the cheap.
  • How to browse and reel in rockin' design freelancers to work on your project (and for a discount).
  • How to use design contests like 99designs to get a buffet of great design and save a ton of money.
  • How to put together a design packet that will dramatically lower the likelihood of misunderstanding with your design contractors.

What you'll do:

At the end of this class, you'll go on a little scavenger hunt to find the design or template that fits you. Take the class prompt, go happily in search of your design, and return with your bounty.

You'll get to share what you've found and explain why you think it would work for your project. You'll get the opportunity to receive feedback directly from me and the group.

Helpful class! I found the answer to my questions about designing my app. Thanks.
This class describes all the options you have if you need design done. After watching the videos, I managed to make a more informed decision and avoid spending too much money on something I don't really need.
