Project Description

For your class project you will make your own decorative papers using your gelatin plate. This can be a store bought one or one you made yourself.  You will need the following:

  • A gelatin plate
  • Acrylic paints
  • Brayer
  • Stencils
  • Mesh bags, string or yarn, cardboard, bubble wrap; anything that can make an interesting pattern.
  • Papers to print on; drawing paper, printer paper, delli paper or tissue paper.
  • A baren (optional)

Remember the 3 steps.

  1. Layer one- print a plain background
  2. Layer two - add patterns from household items
  3. Layer three - use stencils for your final layer.

NB: Ensure that your print dries between each layer!

Once you have mastered this you can print as many layers as you like in whatever order you want. Have fun printing and be sure to share your projects in the project section below.
