About This Class

Fusion 360 is fast becoming the go-to software for 3D modelling. The software allows you to create 3D models that can then be sent to a 3D printer or CNC machine to be made either in the workplace or at home. If you are interested in learning how to create your own complex models to print on your 3D printer then Fusion 360 is the software for you. It's intelligent tools and workflow allows you to create a wide range of objects and best of all, the software is completely FREE for non- commercial use!.

It is important that you learn to use Fusion 360 correctly from the start if you want to become a proficient creator and this course teaches you all the skills you need to know. By learning from someone that has been using the software since it's release and that is still working as a designer in the industry today, you will learn correct techniques and good practices that would allow you to use Fusion 360 in the workplace if you so desired.

Course Outline:

  • We start at the very beginning by teaching you what the software actually does and showing you where to get it. We then move on to learning the basic navigation and workflow of the software.

  • Next we show you some basic modelling techniques before getting stuck in and creating our very first part.

  • Next we will move on to more advanced modelling techniques and then learn how to put it all together to create assemblies. Follow along as we create a project assembly in real time.

  • After we have learned these more advanced techniques the fun really begins and we learn to apply realistic materials and make our assemblies move.

  • The final section will show how to output your design, whether it's as a photo-realistic rendered image, a rendered animation of the moving design or to a 3D printer.

This Fusion 360 course teaches real-life techniques used in the workplace. We have taught thousands of people to use various CAD software over the years look forward to welcoming you into our community of designers & makers.

Meet Your Teacher

I have over 23 years experience as a Draughtsman & CAD Designer in a wide variety of disciplines. I started on a drawing board learning traditional drafting skills and witnessed the introduction of CAD softwarinto the industry. Originally starting on the very basic AutoCAD release 10 I have used every version of AutoCAD since as well as adding various other CAD software. This has given me a unique insight into how best to utilise these great tools in the real world environment.

Over the course of my career I've trained countless people in the use of these tools and as most of this training was geared towards getting staff members up & running with this software as quickly as possible, I developed a method that gets my students actually creating drawings ... 1. 01 Introduction: in this course will be looking at the fusion free 60. Software, starting from complete beginnings, will learn where to get the software and then move on to basic modeling simple shapes. After learning all the popular modified techniques, well, then learn how to create functional assemblies and model your own designs Well, then learn how to create moving assemblies using joints that move as they would in the real world before learning how to output. These designs toe a technical drawing on animated video or maybe to a three D printer. Such a base designs here, so join us as we begin to learn this fantastic free D modeling software. 2. 02 What is Fusion 360: hi, guys. And welcome to this cost in auto desk fusion free 60. So, first of all, is it just a bit of an introduction? Um, what is fusion? Well, also, desk is probably the market leader in cut design software two D and free day. Some of you may know, Auto Cat, some of you may have to my previous course on auto Cut, but is Freedy. It's primarily started a two D package and cut kind of has evolved from there. We've end self things at Autodesk Inventor and Solid Works, which was the mechanical and production Freedy software. And these are kind of very complex industry level courses. We do, of course, on inventor if you want to check that out. But these are very much aimed at the top of the market, and it was identified, but there is a position somewhere in between. So with the advent of things like free D printers and home CNC machines, that kind of thing people were able to manufacture small components at home using these kind Afridi princes, things like that. Another result, people wanted to design their own items If I didn't need the expense and complexity of something like side works or inventor just to do simple items. And also, a lot of the wave of files are shared and things. An inventor. It suits kind of big companies. It is. It's not really It wasn't really suited to kind of file sharing. That kind of goes on between home users on the Internet and things like that. So there was a kind of gap in the market for some software for hobby users to create things for various hobbies are various small items on fusion free 60. Basically, does that job very, very well. Okay, so let's have a brief look at it for software. So I've got window open here. I've got a kind of easy model of basic model that I've created. This is, um, if you imagine a circuit about something like a raspberry pi or Arduino. Okay. The idea is that you would create this plastic enclosure. He'd have these up sons, which would match for holes on the circuit, barred, and you would screw your circuit body to these. These openings will be thing for things like USB socket on whatever. It's just a generic one. We're going to learn how to do this in this course, I'm sure you've seen me is available in the shops or maybe people so pin Freddie, print files. But this is pretty simple to make using this software, but it is a perfect example of what you would use fusion 3 64 You go something like a raspberry pi. You want to put it somewhere You want to make an enclosure, you go into fusion. You have a few dimensions that you've measured off the circuit, part of the whole centers, things like that. And you quickly not precip infusion. You send it to you free D printer. And there you go. You haven't to buy anything. Order anything. You can create your own products you can put maybe a logo May could put some fronts of design and there if you want it. But it's just a good example of something that you would use fusion. 3 64 I'm by the way. I'm not gonna keep same fusion free 60. I'll just call it fusion. It's easier. Andi Yeah, it's It's fairly simple, but you could do a lot more complex objects in this infusion. By the way, this is I mean, you will go down the road off, and this is the important thing. When you learn any software, once you've learned it, keep using it and keep kind of pushing your skills of it, pushing your boundaries of it. Don't just make easy things. If you don't have to do something, find out. Gonna push your skills. And that's how you get good at using this kind of software. Just every time you gradually make a bit more difficult. Don't be afraid to do something because you don't have to do it. This course will take you all the basics, but it will also teach you how to find out more. You know how to I can teach everything. All these cost will be hours and hours long and everyone get bought. But you will be confident enough with software that you can use these tools and now have a work to to use your imagination and take your from your imagination onto the screen, which is what a lot of cat is. To be fair, is just being able to take the object and thinking, How best could I model that most objects when you look at them. You can break them down into cubes, cylinders, pipes, tubes. That kind of thing is just a A complex shape is just made out of basic shapes, and that's what freely modeling is. Okay, so let's look a software itself now. Things like auto Cad and inventor. Other said it is. It's very complex in terms of can be complex in terms of a file kind of extracts. You can have parts, some model files, which you have to keep together, and that's because the software is installed on your machine. Okay, now, with fusion, it works differently is it's basically online. You are working online. Your projects are start online. You can share files online, and that makes it so much simpler for hobby and home user because you could just you don't need to worry about. Have I sent somebody evil? The files, a complex inventor assembly, for instance, or solid works you would have to send numerous fails, and they could be too big to email, all that kind of thing. Fusion Mexico. Nice and easy By being online, you do need an account. I'll go for about in the next chapter. It is free, which is probably the best thing about this software. There is a license that allows you and I'm going to say when this course was recorded in too far in 2020 there was a license available, which is a hobby. It's license or something, basically, has anyone who's using it as a hobby. So you're not making money? Not so in the objects to use it for free. But also, if you are a small business, if you are so in your designs, as long as your turnover is under $100,000 a year, it's also free. I'm This is great. This is for anyone like me is being around him a cut industry for years. Remember when we only had really had also count on auto card was something like £4000 British pounds a year. Also, for the latest version, you didn't buy it here live, and you just bought the latest version. So if someone said, Can you do this? I want to pay your £500. Well, OK, but software is gonna cost me £5000. So what do you do? You know, things have changed now, even with our talk up. You can just basically rented monthly on a subscription with fusion. It's totally free, which is great, and in the next chapter will go through how you can get it and set it up on your machine. 3. 03 How to get the Fusion 360 Software: Okay. Welcome back. So here I am on the Autodesk website. Now there is a link. So this, um, the color startup license and somebody got a hobbyist license. There is a link and address first, but also just can move things around. So, please, if this link doesn't work, the easiest thing on what I'd recommend is just go to Google on Google Free fusion free 60 startup license or hobby license or something. It will take their. Okay. That's literal. I've just done to get here. If I do, copy this address, try it. But if it does change when you change when you're doing this, cost one. Just google it. Okay? If it's, um, pointless license stops being made available, I will changes costs. If you If you're hearing this, it's still available. Okay. So a moment is saying that is free for individuals with non commercial personal design projects on individuals during home based non commercial manufacturing and fabrication. So, basically, for hobby use, I would also say that includes people who want to just learn the software. So you're not going to sell whatever you making. I wouldn't fault you're going to sell whatever you're designing while you're learning the software. So fusion free 60 for free because all capabilities except the support hopefully don't need because you've got makes you do miss costs. Team collaboration shouldn't made so all this kind of stuff you shouldn't made if you're just learning the software and creating things, Afridi print off for yourself. But what you don't need tough Afridi printer You can send things out. You can design and send them out. It's plenty of people who will Freddie print for you. I recommend get one. If you interest goes freely printed out cheap now, $250 will get used fitting like well, at this point in time, something like an end of free, which is why I used, which is great. So are you a startled If you are a small business now? It was free for businesses generated less than 100 Fallon that the moment saying Apply Andi , fill in the details. I don't know if that's the price you'll get. If you are wanting to do it for your business, All I can say is fill out the farmer, do whatever it's asking at that point in time and see what happens, But for the purposes of learning for yourself on home, use just Google. Fusion hobbyists are fusion for hobbies. Okay, Andi, it should take you to a page where it's free to download for abuse, you will need to create an Autodesk account. I have one office late. It's free to create an account, just like anywhere else. He's giving some details because all your projects are saved online. It needs to know who you are so it can save your projects against your name. So you do need to create account and then get your software for free. OK is a bit difficult in this court, because if you, this kind of menu and auto just move things about, so it's a bit difficult for me to go through the exact address and process today, this is it. I would just google Fusion free 60 hobbyists and go through the process granite Altar Risk account and click on the link Andi. As of today, the software is completely free, so just go for about create your account download install that you do need to install, I said. I said it is based on line, but you do kind of install something just to put a stop in your menu. Okay. And then you will find it under auto desk. And you do get a kind of fusion. 3 60 there. But it is based online. It's not big installed, not like the other software. So go through that process. Let me know if you get any issues. Andi, I'll see you in the next chapter. 4. 04 Navigating and View Commands: Okay, Welcome to Fusion Free 60. So I've put us on to a different machine because of what I use for work. I've got so many kind of I don't know things. It would look different. Service should look, Maher less. I should look the same as yours will, as a new user. Okay, I've got the example. Which is centers. My first project. Um, got example. Box here. So here you will have all the files you've done. OK, um, you can get rid of up to make your screen larger. This white area here, this is your main modeling space. This is a view. You will use your opponent kind of pan around things like that. Okay, I'm just gonna go for some basic menus here. One thing I don't do is go through every single setting, how to change your mouse, the look of your mouths and out to change. Go for every single. But Mr is their sisters. They have done causes like that. It's terrible. You get bored, it's tedious. OK? No one remembers it. No one cares how to change the color of your background before you even know what a software does. No one cares about how you can change the speed of your mouse or anything like that. You just want to learn the basics and get modeling. Okay, I know you do. That's how I feel when I was learning you software. So that's how I teach. I just get you joined modeling as quick as possible. A nail. Introduce these commands as we go. So saying that you do need to know how to move about in some basic things. Okay, so obviously, you move your mouse. Yeah, removes. Okay, let me just I'm just go from my project is sucking so you can see what's happening now. Your mouse wheel. If you scroll your wheel, you'll zoom in and out. Okay? For some reason. Well, I like it so that when I will forward, I zoom in. And when I wheel back as amount to may, that is completely how it should be. That seems natural for some reason. Auto dust thinks we have a way around. You zoom out on it should going. You zoom in on it should go out. I mean, I don't know. You're you may view it differently. All I will say is, if you want to change route, your preferences appear you. Obviously, this won't be my name. It will be your name. If you click up and go to Preferences. You'll see you get all these options. And this is where you can do all those things, like changing colors of your screen, all that stuff. So down here, you have the option. Reverse zoom direction. So I've got it ticked. Okay. When I go forward with the wheel, it zooms in. Now. Apparently, that's reverse. Direction to may Seems like normal, but there we go. Set it. How you want? Whatever Feels natural. Okay, Come up, you scroll. Zoom in and out. So your wheel if you hold your middle wheel down on your mouths A move that is your pun command. Okay, so that's how you drug things around. All right, If you hold down the shift button on the middle, mouse the middle wheel, move your mouse while holding down shift. You'll kind of rotate around. Okay? So you can move your object around like now. These are the main commands I use. So, pan, hold the wheel down, zoom in and out, just wheeling one else, and then hold down shift on the middle wheel. Well, let's use him around orbit. It's called what up? So if those commands, you should be able to get anywhere on your model you want, Okay? And I appreciate it does take a bit off learning just to get good at doing that and getting it to move away. You want? Okay. So feel free. Spend about time, just especially at all. But I'm a zoom getting used to that. Soon you'll be flying around Blois. Okay, But But first, if you've not going experience with Afridi world, I'm doing this kind of thing. It might take a bit of getting used to, so just play about without, okay? You could also you have this cube in the top, right? Andi, if you click on top. Okay, so that's looking down on the model, and you can select the different faces. So left front a man, obviously. But some. And you can click on the corners and get kind of a free T view. When you click top. You can also take up you around, Okay, for some reason, you might think Well, that that's a front view, but actually that's the side of my box. I want to believe from what you can do is go to a view you want. Pull down here and you can say set current view as front, and now it will change that around. Okay, so you come up, but Jet definitely holding down a middle shift key and using that middle button to all but putting it out. I'm in part across. But that's humane kind of view commands, okay? 5. 05 Interface: Okay, so now you know how to move around. Let's have a look at what's going on here. But so, as I said, this is humane. On a window modeling window here, if it's open projects, you know, you've you cube. Okay, You have your standard kind of things, Like safe under file. You could slit open, say, that kind of thing. Just basic things for now. Here, have easy our tour bus. So you will see of the moment we're in Miss Finkel design and with a few different environments. Okay, for now. So you can do simulations do animations, that kind of thing. For now, we're just gonna stick with design. Okay, on In the design environment, you will have these standard tools. So you have salads, surfaces, sheet metal and some tools again for now, just so we can get going, we're just gonna cause fell in solids. We're gonna comes from solid creation, which is just this kind of thing here. Okay, if you do. And if you do specializing sheet metal on you want to get into that, you can Surfaces are a bit more complex. So for now, we're just construct solids. So we have this silver hair which is create. And if you pull down on whatever you say, this arrow can click it and you'll get more commands. If you see someone using something like AutoCAD sometimes depending on the use of it could have a whole load of commands all round with screen. Okay, some people have more commands and screen space on its That's why somebody software consumer, that overwhelming what fusion does is aims to just have the command you use most. Put the top and then all these are available if you need them. But some of them use every now and then once in a blue moon. So just there when you need them. But you don't necessarily need it taking up screen space of us like sketch extrude, that kind of thing. Well, use them all the time so that that you can If there was something, if you do a particular kind of operation and you use a lot off loft commands okay, it is free dot so you can pin it to your toolbar and you can jug it around and you can put it where you want, OK, and you can change all that put ups. Okay, We're getting into customization. You don't need to know. That's basically how this works. Ovaries, more commands and what it shows here. That's all I'm trying to say. Same with So we have create here. We have to modify saying we've modified. There is more available. Assemble, construct, inspecting. So okay, so these are are made for the solid modelling. These are main commands we're gonna be using. Create is, as you would think, create your basic object boxes, surrenders, fears everything is made out of these extrusion sketches. Okay, when we do that all the time, we do sketches, and we extrude them were evolving. We sweep them. So this is how you create your geometry for your free d model? Modify. This is how you change it. So the process would be for something like this. You sketch it under, create you sketch, and you extrude it might create your basic shape. And then you modify that basic shape using these commands. Okay, Next, you're going to assemble. So we have the vase and we have the lid hopes. So have the base. And we have the lit which you assemble together using this one, okay. And you can use this to construct planes. This is Inspector that gives you measuring tools. So if you want to know the link for something, okay. And you can insert things like stick decals, text concert, that kind of images, that kind of thing. So just a very quick overview off this main basic it's all about. That's all I'm going to do as I say. I'm not gonna go through every command like some people doing ball you to tears. We need to get modeling as quick as possible. So that's our basic toolbar. Next, we of this browser. Now, when you all modelling, you will do various things. You will create solid bodies, you'll create sketches and you'll create joints. All that will become second nature to you, but you do need to kind of stall those items. As I said in the introduction, we don't end up with lots of different files that we have to keep in places. We end that we've just one project file and everything is starting that. So this browser is kind of our filing system, if you like for this model service, this model here it's called Box tests. OK, that should've been tested. But it's got boxed us. We have the base which is in red, which is box base. Okay. And we have to let, which is in gray, so you can see that here these top ones belong to the overall follow. Just ignore them from it. But under our box tests, we have the lit on. We can expend that and we have the base and we can expend that we can have a nice simple here. What things? We can see it. Okay, If we were to go to the base and quickly, I it would turn off. We wouldn't see it. That would allow us to do things like add it on model features that will be hidden usual tubs here which allow it to just sit in place. But it is all part of the same fella is all part of this box file. Okay, so this browser window here kind of a filing system for our project. And if you are a bit confused But don't worry, this is an introduction. Just go with it. It will become second nature, and all this will be as we use it as we go, it will just become obvious how you and this is why I like to teach driving spent too much time, Tanya, how everything works. Just teach on the fly because you just learned to use it by using it. Basically, don't. Here we have what they call the timeline. Okay. Oh, design history on what was is it as you go along. So as we made this model, it's as if he was being filmed. It's capturing them. Beach controller, each part of a model. If you like a new convention, go back in time torn. This model started so we can see artist model was made. We started with a sketch of a of a rectangle in two day. Okay, we then extrude of activity into a box will go for extreme soon. Don't worry, but we're basically made it into a box. We're going rounded corners about box hedges. We create another sketch on top, which was a smaller box which revenge extruded down to cut out the middle. Okay, with most catches. And we create the Hope stones which we extruded which you'll see in a minute ago. We create holes in them. Would it all that on when we made with legend blah blah, blah. So, anyway, this is fusion as you go along. As you were fusion recalls, this kind of timeline was designed history on what that allows you to do. Let so much. So let's so much. And we decided that these holes here, actually, I don't want that whole. I just want not hold there. Okay, so what you can do is go back in time. You never software you would have Tondo under under Ondo until the point where you made that Ammon start again from that point. Which means you have to do what? Read all the geometry did since infusion. You can just go back to the point where you made when? Okay, which is right back here. Probably sketch. So this was our sketch, okay? And you can edit out sketch. We can delete that object. Don't worry about following along hand I've away because I'm just showing you how is Timeline works, and then you can go back to the end of a timeline. So all this work is still being done, but you've got rid of out. Okay, So how you understood how good vices. It's better than just doing undo. Because if you didn't know, you would have lost all the works into that. To redo it, you can go back in time. Eddie. That little command you did maybe last week and then come back to the present on all the other work is still being done, which is brilliant. Okay, this is Parametric modeling. It's this term. You'll hear a lot off, but it is great. It allows you to go back and edit things which he did last week, which may have been wrong, or tech and existing design. And long as you've got the design history within existing designed, you can edit it a lot easier. I'll just tweak it a lot easier without undoing lots of work or delete in lots of other work. Okay, I miss design history. If you get given a model, it may or may not have this design history because you can. If you wanted to kind of OK Thomas model. I don't want anyone changing it. I want it set like this. You can delete that it's on history and your model just becomes us. It is at that point, but if you've got a history of Enya. So that is a history by okay. Again, Don't worry. If you didn't understood what stand what did With a sketch of me extrude. I just wanted you to understand the importance of this here. Down here, we have some view command if you don't, obviously, for using the mouse, which 99 like names that people do. You don't need to kind of be clicking on pan and zoom and things like you just use your mouse wheel. Okay, so that's it. That's all I'm gonna teach about the interface. I'm not gonna go for hours and hours. As I said, we know enough. Now we can start modeling something. So in the next chapter, we're going to start actually modeling something. 6. 06 Basic Modelling Tools 01: Okay, so let's stop modeling now. One thing we need to really know about before we start modeling effectively is the coordinate system that's used no en card. We tend to use something called the X Y coordinate system. Okay, if I just click on box area, you'll see, hopefully make more sense. So let me movinto Afridi of you. Okay, so what we're actually seeing here is our free planes that we can work on and we can planes . But for now, let's look our free main origin planes. Okay? So if you think about freedom, if you think about Freedy Box like this one, appear his view Cube, Really? We have free facing planes. Okay, so you have the top down and you have these to excite planes. You do off the opposite result, which is a bottom, but it it's created in the same kind of you. If that makes sense, So we have X y. I mean, is that so X is in red, which is because think its is a trick of horizontal. Why is vertical and set is kind of coming out off the page If you use so much of a truly piece of Paper X will be along the bottom of the paper. Why would be beside of a paper and said will be coming out towards you. That's your free D. Okay, now I appreciate it may be really confusing to those if not use this equipment system before. If you don't understand that yet, that's perfectly fine. It will become second nature to you just by using it. Okay, So don't worry. If you're not grasping it yet, just follow along. And as we model, it will become obvious. And it would just be intuitive if I try and explain it more. It's just gonna sound a lot more complicated when it needs to bay Andi. The best way to learning card again is just to do it. So if we just start working now and I'll describe what's happening a coordinate system as we go and you'll you'll soon what it's all about. Okay, so what I'm going to do first, I'm going to create a box. Now this create menu here is where we build all our geometry. So this is all our things we begin with. No matter how complicated a model might look, it's created with these simple tools down here. And if you coming from a tin cup background, we have to not think of cut costs than these will be very familiar. The box cylinder sphere. Things like that. Things like fusion and inventive. It don't 10 to use visas much. There's a workflow, which I'll show you, but we're still in there if you want to use him. Okay, so for now, I'm just going to do a simple box. Been to click on that, men. It will ask which plane we want to draw it on. So you think of this UV a piece of paper. Where do you want to start? Okay, so I'm just gonna go with this one here, actually, let's go out when there could come up and now this could be fought off a little piece of paper here. Okay, I'm going to click on that view just so in looking directly down onto our surface, we've got this crosshairs. This It is asking us to draw our rectangle our box are and we do that by first join a rectangle of the base of the box. Now you can see is cross her. It follows my mouse. But if I go near a line, it kind of snaps to it. And if you're following along you you'll notice what's happening. Okay? And if we go near to this circle here, it snaps right on it. We'll get this square. What is this circle? This is called our origin. Okay, so you can see we have these numbers appear 25 50 50 75. These are our unit. So in terms of distance and our units, except to millimeters So this is 25 millimeters 50 millimeters 75. Ok, same this side. 25. So if we wanted to draw a rectangle which was 50 by 50 we could go a long 50 and 50. And this will be a 50 by 50 rectangle. Okay, so here is obviously 00 which is known as the origin. The origin is 00 zero point. Why freeze? A rose will. Don't forget, we've got the height coming towards us out of this sheets. Okay, again, Just follow along. And if it's not making complete sense, it will do so we can snap to this origin 200 point just by hovering nearby, which I'm going to do now, OK? And you'll see as a drug outlets rectangle, we get these boxes with the Dimension Millimeters. And as we move, these dimensions increase or decrease. So if I go up to here, you can see let me just know it's not gonna snap straight on it without showing zero. But if we go here, Okay, let me do it. S o. That's 25 by 25 as close us. Yeah, and you could get exact if you want. So here is 50 by 50 on what you condo's you can use. You see, one of them is I can't point on the mouse fight going away, but one of them is highlighted in blue. One of those boxes of Texas is 50.506 and it's in blue. Where is it? It's blue is because it's creditable with the key boat, so I can just type 50 okay and you'll see it snaps to 50. Now what I can do is press the tab key, which is used on the left of your keyboard. It's two opposing arrows, usually above caps. Lock somewhere. If I percent, it goes across to be of a box so I could vent Type 15 men and you see, we get his padlock. That's basically saying you've typed in a dimension, so it locks final press return it goes often. It gives us this rectangle. Okay, it's asking for number. We're not asking for five. Well, if we hold down, shift on your middle wheel and just rotate your view, you will see the reason it's asking us for another dimension is because it would join a box . So it's asking for the height of the box. Okay, now we could put in 15 there press return. When we get a 50 by 50 by 50 box free dimensions, we've got 50 by 50 by 50. Okay, so x wise, that coordinate is free dimensions. You can think from this length, width and height if you want, but well, it depends withdrawing, but basically that's it. So you will ask for free dimensions. Let's do that again 7. 07 Basic Modelling Tools 02: So I'm gonna do that again. I'm gonna go to box again and again. It's asking us where we want to drive. It's going. I was slow playing, OK? And again we're gonna click on the origin and again asks us to give it a dimension. So suppose Anouar Direct Tunggal rituals 25. What's that? Was 100 millimeters in this direction. Just 25 in that direction. OK, press return. Now hold down shift in your wheel just so you can see what's going on. We can drug this up. Okay? All kids type in an immediate $75 again moved in a box. I slept a lot. Andi, show you again. So x on while you could see a fair you've got your ex, your white and your set. So if you want to keep him at particular X y plane, you can easily see here which planet needs to bay and you can view it front. So you're working kind of in line. You're looking directly down on your sheet. Unless do some fences. Process corner. Okay on. Let's go. 100 in that direction. 50 In that direction. Press return. Now you can see this box comes up now we've already told it's 5500. We can change. I'm here. Maybe it's 70 and maybe that is 1 50 We can also add our height, so maybe that's 25. OK, so this will be familiar from think Got a kind of box where you type in your damage? It really doesn't matter how you choose to do it. You can just draw it roughly. You can just type in the dimensions or you can addict this box When it comes up. OK, it achieves the same thing. It gives you a standard book, and that's how you would draw a cube or a box. Okay, so that is your first box done on and a cylinder for click on Sunday. It works the same way you get your X Y position. You choose an origin basically what you want to draw it again. We can snap to the origin. Let's just review it on. Well, it's your hair. Just so can see what's happening. And now it was ask you for your radius of your cylinder. It's a movie about 60 when we give it height, maybe 75. OK, that's a cylinder. So what else is that? We have a sphere, a sphere. The plane is about, crucially, Lance fit. It doesn't about it because it's this very so you. Let's click our origin and all it wants ones I mentioned. The ball is very fair, whatever. So there's not really not much you can do without. It is wise tourists. It's Orestes is a funny one. It, when you look at it originally, you think well, what will use out full? But it does have its uses because it's so adjustable, so you can set your internal diameter. So you internal Demento like that, and you can set the what we call a tourist damage, which is how thick it is. Basically, Is it people on doughnuts again? I'll shave the workflow people use General because these boxes cylinders Fez but don't come in useful but myself and other than I don't tend to draw from boxes. And so in, just like you doing think infusion, it works more likes and for like, inventor, I'll show you what we do now in the next chapter, 8. 08 Extruding: So before we go any further, I want to show you the main kind of workflow. But certainly myself and others are no use and it's a candle is away. You do want to get usedto work and if you come in from thinking about you want to move into this workflow really moving forward As you progress in your with cuts software and you get into the more advanced cuts off where rather news boxes and cylinders, people tend to use the extrude command now, knowing Tika cupped there was an extreme It was used for certain situations But this will be free d modeling in things like fusion inventor sword works. This will be your main method of Jordan. Okay, modeling things like fusion inventor side works This will be your main method of modeling extrude. So let's see what it's all about. Good to click on extrude Extremely. Okay, So in order to extrude something we need to sketch in this workflow off during a two d sketch. I'm in extreme it too. Freaky as I say that this will become second nature to this is how you'll start almost every piece. So the first thing we need to do is create a sketch. When we click on sketch, we get this same has drawn a box. It will ask us where we want to draw it. So I'm just going to slow this one for not it doesn't really matter. All this could be changed, by the way. So it really doesn't matter No how we can think of us. We We're looking at a piece of paper. Now we're joined A two D image. We've drawn a to D sketch When we did our box. If you remember, we started by drawing the base of a box and then we gave it a height. It's exactly the same process. It's asking those fall if you like the bottom profile of our object and then it will extrude it to give it. Is that height again? It probably sounds a lot more complicated than it is. If I wanted to draw box this way, not slept, you can see we get the sketch tools. Now they still buy has completely changed. We have constraints. We have creations and modify. Let's just concentrate on this one here for now. So for most basic is a rectangle we have two point rectangle. Okay, so two points. It's asking us for the one corner a minute Oscars for another corner that gives direct ago . So first corner I got, I'm gonna go to the origins. There is a row and now it's asking us for another corner. So this probably looks completely familiar. It's just like when we drew a box the first stage of Join the Box. It's exactly the same. It's asking us to draw the bottom of our box so we can just do the same thing. 50 by 75. OK, there we go. But that's that. It's Nostra's for anything else. When we did a box, it went off. Now investors for a height of a box, it's not asking us for anything else. That's because we're still drawing or sketch. Okay, so if I was to click finish sketch, we still don't have about we have a sketch. This sketch isn't actually doing anything because it's just it's just a sketch Floating in space is no, there is nobody to it. So what we have to do now is we go to extrude and it will ask us here. What do you want to extremes. So it's looking for a sketch to extrude because we've only got one sketching majorities guest what It is. And that's why it's blue if you want more of one. You slept with D selective SC slept it and it got blue. And now it's asking us some questions. Mainly visit heights. Let's give it a high of 50. Okay, So what was in there? We've drawn a box. Okay, which is kind of full of the same processes before it's taken a bit longer. So you might be asking, Why would I do it that way? Well, let's go back into it again. Okay? So just like to sketch and again I'm gonna draw ever go again, just like we did before. Let's do about 50 by 75. Okay, Breast returns. I've got a rectangle sketch, which would be which was like, before, when you have a base of the books. But now I'm going to draw. I'm going to draw a circle. I'm gonna snap to this corner here. I'm just gonna draw any side circle. Okay? But I mentioned on it, okay? It doesn't matter number to use this around here. The scissors. Justo trim these lines. Okay, so now we have this weird looking shape here. Well, finish sketch and we can still go to extrude. We can still give it height and it's extruded shape. No, no. Where here? Can you have a shape like that box? You would have to do a box minutes cylinder and try and join them so you can see this sketch in extruding gives you a lot more control over the shape. Doesn't have to be a box. Also on it, really community shape you can draw. So that's why we tend to use up. Okay, so let's do that again. Let's do a sketch quick from here. Mr. I'm gonna go to line, click online when I go to origin, and now I'm not going to use any kind of dimensions or anything. I am just going toe randomly click all of the screen before snapping, but where I started, I'm going finish sketch. Okay? I mean, I'm gonna go extreme. Uh, I'm gonna drug out again without putting any kind of besides, is in there so you can extrude anything. That's what makes this extrude commands so much more powerful than just doing boxes and feared It's totally up to you. Of course you can. So you come to a box. You could extrude a box if you wanted. Yeah, why would before we could I think you can do a sphere I still in this you can do is still enough. Yeah, just by extremist circle. And you got your so India so you can do it. And I tend even if I'm doing a box or someone, they tend to use sketch and experienced command just because that's my default workflow. So it's one thing to be aware off when you do your sketch, you do want always and you do want to close up. So don't leave it open like that. It needs to be an enclosed shape. I'm finished back on your start point. You see, when you do that, it goes blow to say it can be extruded going from a sketch on when you click on extrude. Okay, you'll be able to select it and you'll be able to extrude it. If you leave it open, it won't let you do it. Okay, So have a play about without just using your sketches using lines Do some extrusion is get used to it. You probably You probably will run into some issues with work. Why will become clear, light run. But for now, just practice for extrusion because that will be on main workflow when will use it all the time, okay? 9. 09 Extruding 02: Okay. Welcome back. So hopefully you've been doing some extruding. You probably run into a few issues. You may or may not have got around. It doesn't matter that I just wanted you get used to using that extrude commander. My sketching. So, you know, gonna you really don't totally understand that it will make more sense as we go on now and we're gonna actually build something. We're gonna build a simple box using that extrusion on sketching workflow. Okay, so it's create. It's good to a So I was do a sketch click on our plane on this box is going to be a rectangle. Okay, So what we've been doing being clicking his two point rectangle now, for reasons that will become obvious and we'll talk about later a lot of the time, it's best to use this center rectangle here. What's the difference? Well, two point rectangle, as we've been doing, you click on one point and we've drawn over on the origin is in the bottom left. What would you want to do? And what you should get used to doing from the start is having the origin on these origin lines. The Zahra's airlines in the center of your object. It just makes it much easier to do things like mirror and symmetry lights, which will gettinto. But you want to try and get your models symmetrical about these planes where possible. The easiest way to do that, if you do in a box type object is Ravan. Due to point rectangle, click on the center rectangle. I'm a differences. Your first point put it on. The origin is normal, but now you will see. Rather than being the bottom left corner, it remains in the center. Um, that means if we were to do a 100 time 200 box, you will see the box is symmetrical about these lines. It just makes things easier later on. And it also looks good in terms of standards and that kind of thing. If you goingto workplace after this cost doing a job and they see you drawing like this, you will look much more professional because it makes everyone's life easy when it's symmetrical. Which again you you'll realize, Why Lights room. But just bear that in mind for now. So we don't we set center rectangle here. Let's finish sketch. That's just moving to a mall Freedy view by holding down shift in our middle mouse wheel. And now let's extrude Let's bring it out, I must say 30 I'm sure. Let's do 50 way. Have a box. Okay, now what I want to do is create an opening so sketches don't have to be done on origin. Planes on most of summer won't be free. Click on sketch again. You see, it's asking for origin, but we can also slap the face of an object. So I'm going to slit his top face here, and we're now sketching directly onto the top face of object. I'm gonna slept center rectangle again. Could still snap to the origin even though we're joined on the face. So last time our box was 100 by 200. I want for walls of our box to be five millimeters thick, so I'm going to deduct for five. Each side will be 10. So instead of drawing it 100 by 200 I'm gonna joy 90 by 1 90 Sorry, 90 and you'll see it's drawn a rectangle five millimeters because we use a center point or we have to do is deduct two times five millimeters and its did a bit from either side. If we have done the bottom left corner, we would want to do start our rectangle five millimeters in. If that makes sense, it already by using the center rectangle, it's making things a lot more easier. Okay, so now if we use if we're just moving to a free TV, Okay, you can see we've drawn our sketch on top of this box. So now if we finish sketch good to extrude and select that sketch there, we've just draw we could extend this box. It was a smaller box, But what I want to his drug it we have way and you'll see when we drag it the other way when the normal way it looks like that when we drug, what goes red? OK, so this way we are adding material. We are extending this box even though it's a smaller rectangle extending it. So we're adding material when it goes red. You are cutting material we're actually cutting out. We're cutting into the original box, which is what we want. Now we know our original boxes 50 millimeters and we want five millimeter base. So I'm going to go and you will see when we're cutting. When we're going down, it's minus. Okay, So when we're moving up, it's a positive number. When we're going down, it's a minus number. So I'm going to type minus 45. Impressed. Return A merry go. What we've done is we've extrude can also cooked as well as out So we've cut it out the inside of this box So we've cut out the inside of his box. There we go Simple. 10. 10 Extruding 03: And what if we wanted Maybe the item going him if he wanted a hole in the front of his books? For some reason, I don't know why, but for some reason you could just do the same thing so we could click on sketch. And because, like this face here, I'm gonna start a circle. Okay? We know, because we because we've drawn everything so far symmetrical about this axes it makes it easy again. All we need do is snap onto this line here and draw a circle we commend out of dimension. Well, we want the diameter to be 25 millimeters is, and we want it to be halfway middle. We know this is 50 millimeters height, so by just under 25 damage, we've got this precisely in the middle. Okay, now finish sketch. It goes to extra game. No click on Miss Vice. So can we Could even add material. We can cut. Me too. My God. Good. Now in this cook. Come on. We have some options here. Let's suppose we only wanted to cut it through his face. We could just drag it by I And if we put it there, What they would do that it would cut for about first is not very exact. And you want to try and the exact wherever you can because it makes your life easier when you come to edit things. So what immigrants do is if you look we've set the start plane by doing our sketch on this plane. The direction we've set by drugging me arrow. But it's asking is a distance. So by dragging it, we can change it. You say this so it's 50 at the moment. But maybe you don't want to give it a distance. Maybe you want to set it to an object. Okay, so what we can do if we move around with conflict? Two objects. Andi, it's ask you to select the object where you want it to. Well, we could slip this face here. So now it's cutting that hole to that face. Maybe wanted it for you both. We could select about face there, you see when we can do it that way. Oh, if we slept all it will do this same thing. But if there was any more geometry added to, basically it would take that hole and put it through everything. Okay, So one thing I had to do, which is more exactly is use this to object and select actual faces. I was like, Ok, there you go. There's a whole So why use one method over and over? Well, I'm going to show you why I like to use the two commanders and also demonstrate this timeline. Here we have our model. Now we have our box with a hole in it. Let's supposing someone came along and said, Actually, it's always wall to be five millimeters fic. Okay. I wanted to be 10 millimeters. All right? Unless it was just at it. This And let's say when we drew this whole here, we actually selected we felt what? We know our Wallace five millimeters fix where I'm going to go minus five. Okay, now it looks all right. It looks fine. That was done. That was designed. But when someone comes focuses, I want the walls of this fox to be 10 millimeters fix. So what do we do? Well, we go back from our timeline. We look for our sketch where we set the whole in the box, be the inside we right click on we go at it sketch. And this is where we set the damage. So if it's going to be 10 millimeters Fact this wall when we change out to 80. Okay. All right. A to when we change that to 1 80 which is changing subject. We fend finished the sketch on our because we very it that's part time. And it still does the rest of it and what it's done. It made the walls 10 millimeters fake now. Okay, so let's have a look. Hold on. We have a whole this side, but we don't is not going away for a way. Well, that's because when we did this extrusion, if we right click edit feature, we set it to five millimeters. And then when we change the wall, it didn't It didn't take. That's okay. It's still only extruded. Be sold five millimeters. Okay, so let's undo those changes and thats instead. Okay. When we saw this, we you sort of put a distance on there. We go to object when we go to this face. Okay. Okay. So So now this whole. We've told it that this whole extends to the interface of a box and again. I'm gonna go back. I don't get added this sketch disinterested before 80 when I say this up. So we have a 10 millimeter thick walls again. But you can say is updated his whole over fruit. Because no matter how thick we make this wall, we have told it this whole extends to this interface of the wall. We could met this well 50 millimeters thick. It would still do over same thing because it's set. Okay, so hopefully kind of make sense. And you understand that when you set these parameters, you're making it easy further down Malone on by just having anything that's generics or just making random distance or just set in the distance. It can create problems later on in this example is quite It's a very simple model and you did spot up. But if it was a very complex model and that was just a small hole, some way you queasy go free will notice that although my change this dimension over here never affected that hold, it doesn't go away through now. That can easily happen. It does happen. And that's because people a setting dimension values Ravan. Things like that so you know, you know, if you set it to a face, you actually tight, no matter how thick it will be, it will always go over where fruits, and it's just something to bear in mind. And you will get into that kind of design. It's a bit early because I know to be putting these kind of practices in, but it is good toe work that way from the beginning and get your head used to work in that way from the beginning and thinking to yourself. Well, how can I make this future proof? Okay. So again, he felt like that is better. Lima cost We get into that. I just wanted to demonstrate when I did this command for different meanings, off to and dimensional. And that's why you would use it. Okay, so, yeah, hopefully make sense. And hopefully you do bear in mind in the future. But as we do more Martin work through again. We're still very early on because doing basic. So what's let's go for do something else. But that there is your box. You've done that. Basically, we've sketch on extrude. That's all you've used to do about. That's already you could freely premise now and you could put something in it. OK, doesn't. After this size, maybe you've got something you want a little container for? You've already learned how to do it. I was still very Liam. So there you go. Power of sketch and extrude is the main workflow that you will use in most. Freedy software allows you to do all sorts of stuff. This could be any shape spots, so thank you. So, if you want, you could do some more of that. If not, I'll see you next chapter where we'll do some more advanced modelling techniques. 11. 11 Revolve : Okay, so let's look at some of these of creation tools here. We've been through extrude. We know that's our main want. We also have this revolved which is here and also in the soba. So it's a look at that. Okay. No, Like extrude. All these things begin with a sketch. So first thing we have to do is to do a sketch. Just going to let this play? No, it will evolve those if you much is something like a life when you didn't work tone. It kind of works that way. So it's good for circular things. It's good for things like J legs. It would be good fall. It's good for seals. It's good for vows is something like that again. It's gonna sound correct. More sense when we draw it. So I'm gonna do is I'm gonna do, like a centerline. Okay? I'm not gonna worry about any dimensions. You know how to put in dimensions. This is just gonna be drawn Freehand. Okay, so this is gonna be our evolve line here. I'm gonna come out. So there on, I'm going to goods of uh, now if you hold down the button when you doing sketch and you move it. You could see you get his option to do an AK. Okay. So you can do a good, uh, Come on. Okay. So that hopefully I know it's very rough, but hopefully was drunk a bit. Hopefully that looks now, like, if you imagine looking through this look couldn't feel with hours and just seeing half of it. That's how I wanted to look. These symbols take. We're gonna go through these, like, ignore these for now. Look. Trying to what? We were a shape a bit like. Make sure you have a vertical line. Never. Okay, just quickly finish sketch. I'm gonna click on this. Revolved if we're going to a kind of fraidy view. Okay, So its estimates for profile again, we've only got one profile on the joints. It's guessed it night's Oscars for axes. So we'll use this sense along with Drew. I'm There you go. So that looks like a dawn up or enough off a draw. Us. And things like that are a bit maybe a container of some sort, but it is drawn by taking this profile revolving around the center line and the options we get here we have a profile on the axes to revolve around type again we weaken due to so if it was going in between two objects we could do to angle this is a 43 60 degrees. Maybe we only wanted it 90 degrees. Okay, so you can do something like that one side or maybe wanted it two sides or symmetric. Okay, look, let's just go with free six again, if again will use these later on as we start modeling things of the next. More sent. Generally, this is used to do things like this. To do handles or containers is useful all sorts to put on your industry. But I use it generally fist for things like this. So let's click, OK, just so we can see no ago. That's revolve. That's how Revolve works. You can create very complex shapes just from a simple sketch. If you imagine extremis, how many different circles you would need to get your different profiles? It's much more simple. By doing that revolved. I'm just drawing 1/2 of the section revolving around. Okay, so that's REVOLVE Command 12. 12 Sweep : got a new again file. New design. Okay, on the next one is but sweep. Okay, so sweet is going to look, if we just click on it is going to look for to items. It's looking for two sketches. Okay, so we can't just do one sketch for sweet. It's looking for two. So first thing is going to look for news on again if you just follow. If you watch this when you realize what sleep is and what it's doing, if you're right, I do. Here. So I was gonna create circling the city shot sketch. I'm going to another sketch on. I'm going to do a line and you want me to be following along here. Just watch what I'm doing to make it make more sense. Very, very rough. Lying. Okay, tidy up a bit. I just wanted to flow. Okay. What if they shot sketch? So I have to sketch is now we have this, which is how profile Miss would be out off. Okay, Now we construct sweet, so it's asking for profile. Profile. Sweep is used for things like pipes or hoses. Anything that's a long kind of follows a pattern. So the profile would be if you cook up. It was a handrail of pipe of you. Cut it down. If you take a slice out of it, what would that look like? So that's your profile. In this case, it be circular and path is the perfect follows. Okay, I'm there You go. So sweet will take your profile on your path. And it'll create something like if you were doing a long cable or pipe or 100 ailing or anything like maybe it's like the trim around the outside of something, maybe anything like you. Sweet command will do it just by giving a profile and sketch in the room. Okay? And you have all sorts of options here for taper so it can get Maybe it got finner as it went. All figure. You could twist it around. In this case, it's circles, not minutes. With respect was a star shape, you could have it twisting also on again. These options as we get more advanced on that muscles, I don't want to go too much in depth in various options and things because it will get complicated very quickly. We still early on in this cost. So I'm just showing you what these do. That is a sweep command. Okay, 13. 13 Loft : on the next one is loft. So again, loft requires more than one sketch. Um, and what I can share with Loft is I can show you work flames. Okay, so I'm gonna do our first sketch. I'm going around here. I'm going to do simple circle off 1 50 Okay? To finish up. Now, what want to do is I want to do another circle, but I want it to be offset from this one. So if I was to do a sketch here, it's asking us for the same plane, but I want it on it. Raised office plan Foot makes sense. I need to create a new plane based on following the same. I want a plan in the same orientation of this, but higher up. So I'm going to go to construct Andreas. Let offset plane now. We can slept this plane here. Okay? And it gives us size. It looks like extruding but what we're actually doing, I'm going to make this free 100. Okay? We've created our own plane free 100 office one, and now we can sketch on that play. The plane is not any kind of geometry, is just somewhere in space to do your sketch. So if I now to a 500 circle and finish sketch, you'll see hopefully conceive that we've got original circle on our origin plane, but then 300 millimeters off of their We've got another circle, Okay? And now we could do it again. We could go offset Play from, uh, I want another circle. Sorry, never playing. Uh, Let's go. Yeah, let's go. 400. Okay, I must give us another major. These are what's called user work plane. So this is our origin plain. And we've created use work planes to give us somewhere in space to do it of a sketch. When we come in, sketch and select that play now may do a rectangle. I'm just going to out by I Okay, I'm gonna finish up. So now we've got our so called me origin play. I mean, we've got another circle under square which are all offset from each other. OK, on, if we wanted to move this plane, we have it down here in our time history so we could right click edit feature instead of 400 movie. Actually, I wanted it free 100 off. We could move it. So it's all in our history of these planes on its give us another place in space to work with. So now we look at our circle and circle rectangle. We want to make this into a solid object. Well, we can go loft again. It's up here if you want it. And now it's gonna ask us to select some profiles. So we slipped about circle that circle. I'm not rectangle. Okay, we click, OK, and now what it's done is it's lofted a shape which is based on those. Okay, And it's gonna look a bit weird cause it's going from the circle. Do another circle mental rectangle, but it a lot. What it does is it gives you these kind of flowing shapes which will be hard to draw you much in trying to distribute any other way loft could do Vikan blend different shapes into each other. And if I just right, click that it feature again, we have some different methods of creating that shape. OK, again, I'm not gonna go too much in debt for those methods because it is I'm just showing you a base what loft is and how it works. but a lawful take different sketch profiles and blend them into each other. So very go. So for now, we'll leave it that we've learned extrude evolved sweet and loft. And we've seen they're all based on sketches. So sketches are important. Your model shapes your creations are only as good as your sketches and some important things to know about your sketches, which will make your models work a lot better. So the next chapter we're gonna go over sketches were gonna look more in depth, creating good sketches, okay? 14. 14 Sketching 01: Hello on. Welcome, Buck. So now we need to look more in depth at the sketching commands. Um, sketching is one of those things. Whatever you creates, a model. The sketch is the base of up model. You can think of it like the foundations of the house If foundations. I'm very good when your house is not going to be very good. If the foundations haven't been built correctly, house could fall down later on. So the sketch is one of the most important parts. Okay, so I want to show you just some best practice items and also the general rules around making fully constraint on fully dimension sketches. An inventor on you probably don't know what I mean by that. Don't worry. You will do after this section. So I just quit on create sketch there and as you usually get our free planes now, a good way to remember with sketching is you could only sketch onto really a surface flat surface. So imagine you're you want you out. You may be looking at something you wanted to model and you needed to sketch out the way that looked in the dimensions. He could model it later on in your hand, you've got a piece of paper and a pen. You can't just lift up, pulled up piece of paper in mid air and try and sketch it. It's not gonna work. You need to lay it on a flat surface. A much kind of a way You want to look at sketching that flat surface? Could be a face of an object. Or it can be a plane when you started object. Obviously there's nothing. Now you have your free origin planes. Okay? So you could just attend to select of playing as if you'd be looking down. It doesn't really matter, because you can change all but you do need to let a plane, okay? And now it brings you into the sketching mode. So you could say a pair. We have our sketching tools to create different lines is grass circles. We also have these constraint tools. We're gonna go to look at these now because these are what you would use to set your sketch . Okay, We fled the dimensions, and you can set your sketch with dimensions, but it's really best practice to look your sketch of constraints on main dimensions so I'm just going to show you a simple rectangle first and we're going to use with center rectangle. One important thing to remember sketching is you. This origin point have, is there is there origin point? Think of this as a center of the world when you're doing a model. Okay? This is where everything really? If it doesn't start there for line, does it actually start? A. It wants to be in the middle of the object. So that's why they center rectangles. Good. Because you click on it, and it it makes it a center. And I've already talked about symmetry. I like to keep things, and it is good practice to keep think symmetrical around the origin plains where you can. Okay, so I've just drawn out a simple rectangle. I haven't done it 20 kind of size. I just want to show you you'll see. But our rectangle we have fall blue lines. Okay, We have to dashed lines. But we also have eased icons here. So good home is on the line with junket edge. We got these two diagonal lines here. Monotype maligns. Okay, we've also got this t You can see that It's like a t shaped, always a constraints and what these are doing it. These are locking your object in terms of its geometry. Okay, so we selected rectangle Will Fusion knows what a rectangle will be. Full lines at right angles to each other. So it constrains them with these objects. And if you want to know what these mean, the three icons will be pretty much the same as these shapes appear that might be orientated different. But it's the same kind of shape. So plays if you if he's not making sense now, just follow along. It will make sense, I promise you. So this object here. It's two horizontal lines. One of them's kind of a jug it line, but it's basically this one here. Okay, so you can see we have, ah, a vertical version of horizontal visual. It's the same thing, obviously one of those vertical with a horizontal, and it just mean that means that this line is horizontal. Okay, so it's set to be horizontal, and I could quickness. I conduct this around when it lets me. Okay, but and I can drag this around, I couldn't change it because it isn't set in terms of its size with dimensions, but it remains. This live remains horizontal because it has this. Yeah. If I actually right, click delete up, which you can do. Okay, I'm glad. Let me just do it. That one. What actually have to delete, not want to. Okay, so they have been deleted. So now you can see if I drag this, it moves it. It stops being a rectangle because this lying isn't set to be horizontal. And I deleted some of a construct. It's moving it now, in a way which you probably wouldn't wouldn't want it if you want to history many rectangle and you grab that move that you'd be thinking about what's going on here? What's going on here? Okay, so I'm gonna one do about and bring these constraints bucking. I said so. This is set to be horizontal, which means it will always remain horizontal. Now, you could set these lines with the same command to be vertical. You could set that mind to be horizontal. Why? Why don't they have the same? We only have one of these horizontal vertical constraints. That's because we have these other constraints here. These two lines, which is this one? Parallel. Okay, so this line is set horizontal, and this line will be set parallel. You can see when you hover over it. The icon highlights, But also this I can over here. Highlights tells you that this has been set to be parallel to this line. So if this line is set to be horizontal on this sign is set to be parallel. It's also going to stay horizontal. Now, why would you do that instead of just saying While I want this heart horizontal, it ties it together. If you know that these two lines are always going to be set with each other, whatever happens to this line you want to happen to this lying when you met them? Parallel. Okay, that's just good practice. It would do exactly the same If you say there's horizontal, it's just good practice where lines would affect the just don't want to be tied together. You try and tell him to give a week and all this kind of things stopped your sketch being accidentally moved and changed by someone on this. If you have a large, complicated model of lots of parts from lots of sketches, and so will Mexico. Tony, change it, Confer your whole model out, and you think it would wait up. You need to go back for your history through the different sketches. Find out what's been moved and it could take a while. So time of things together kind of stops that happening. Okay? And I guess that's why good practice would be sketches and what I spoke about. Good foundations. That's where it comes in. So this line is Mike parallel to that one. What we've also done is made Hello. Is this line you can see is parallel to that on both highlight, which you would want. But there's no there's no vertical on these lines. So why are these lines remaining vertical? Well, we do have this tea here, which is this one perpendicular, which basically means this line will always be 92 degrees to that line. Okay, so if that line is set, horizontal on this line is set to always be going to degrees to it. It will always be vertical again. It's a way off constraining it to be tied into this life. You could have put vertical murder, but it's It's always good, Terrific. And how can I tie it in on the way vis simple rectangle is drawn. As you've probably realized. It's all tied into this single line here, so you draw one line on that set, and then everything else is tied back to it. And that's kind of the way you want to be thinking within infusion. Okay, you and then he Freddie, modeling his time things together. It all makes easier to read it later, but also harder for someone to destroy your sketch and throw it out and throw your home. Would loan called a whole load of trouble. Believe, may have a female When you open someone's model and it moves in ways it shouldn't. It's a nightmare going for it. And if you end up going into industry and the infusion or sending you joined out to people , that won't thank you if things aren't tight together or constrained. Okay, so always, always, always constrain your sketches and dimensions as much as you come 15. 15 Sketching 02: So if you ever two things we've got on air, these bagna line's amazing dashed. Okay, so what? I will. Our four outlines are part of our sketch. If we were to finish a sketch, Okay, we can now extreme about. And you could see when we select sit, it selects a whole sketch. The whole square technologies. It doesn't slip. These four triangles ignores these dash lines, and we could see that it will ignore them because they're deft. So if we extrude extremes the whole square. Okay, let me and these were called construction lines. Okay, If you right click, then you'll see you get an option on Mrs on any lying. If you right, click any line on a sketch, you'll get an option. Normal are construction. And the reason new you'll use construction lines is you can set various things like you can mirror around them. You can just make sure that things are tied to get us of these corners actually tied together of it being a rectangle by this construction line. And we'll look at construction lies later when we start to use him. For now, just remember, if it's dashed, it's a construction line. Okay. So you could save a simple rectangle. All we need to do is give it Well, let's make it 100 by 50. Okay? I don't know if you notice what happened, but these lines are now block. If a girl back don't do it. The lines of blue. What does that mean? Well, if a sketch is fully constrained on by follow constrained, I mean it cannot move anywhere. It set with constraints on dimensions. But it will turn black and what that means. No one could move it. No one can mess around. Everything is fixed, everything is fixed. Okay? And what we say. And we would Afridi mumbling. We call. We have things called degrees of freedom. So I'll just show you if I put a dimension now Mr Side again. I thought 100. Okay. Will these two lines have gone black That now fully constrained? If I grab this corner, it won't. What I'm transit is moving this way won't let me move it that way. It will let me move it this way because there's no dimension. Even though it's constrained and we've got the right angle. We know Visa Parallel. We still haven't set the length of this the distance from this line to that line off a limb . For that, folks were starving set so it can move. But it could move in that way only. And that is a degree of freedom. OK, so this sketch would have one degree of freedom. If I delete that, you'll see all our lines of blue again, and now I can move it in that direction. So that was another degree of freedom, OK, And then you got everything in between, obviously. But try to try to remember these Ah, not phrase Degree of freedom is used to mean different things, but it generally means you can move things in it in different directions or different ways . Okay, So if I put the stomach churning again 100 these lines go block. So these are set as a distance between them. It knows is geometry and its orientation, because it's very tunggal on the parallel settings about this stuff. Now that can't move. And if I put Dimension on this side 50 it all goes blocks of that. Now, if I tried to move up, account is absolutely stood rigid by the constraints under dimensions. Okay, now, that is what you want to aim for in all your sketches. You want to blame for that? The bloodlines. Okay, if you're seeing Blair Lines, you need to constrain it. Our dimension, it more Advise not, I would say it's essential is an essential skill, but it's essential in all your models and sketches to to aim for that. Okay, especially if you sharing files. No one's going to light receiving files or sketches off blue lines on. Now you can do this. You do see a lot of people who don't use these constraints and what they would do if I was going to delete leads to show you, obviously this in protecting. But you've drawn it with a rectangle command, so it put those constraints on automatically. But if someone drawn this, we've saline and then four lines on the night. What some people do is their Seo. All this needs to be known two degrees. Okay, And I also need some. I also need to, but this 192 degrees okay, still blow. So that means I need to make this known two degrees. And now we say it's over constrained. So I'm looking, you conceive. Is it still blue? So what? I would do that even leave it off it. Be looking wise. It's still there. Well, I need to play maybe a construction line on Stockdale's anyway. That started all sorts of things to try and make it constraint. And then it goes black, and you can see it's done the same. It is now fully fixed in space and geometry in size with these dimensions, but it's not good practice. It's not good practice to do it of dimensions. Um, when you start doing complex models, you will use you reference dimensions, enjoying dropped on it shots all something for, like him. But you just for now, remember that you don't want loads and loads of dimensions in a drawing that you don't need , because it will complicate things later on. If you need to find a certain dimension that drives a shape, you don't want thousands and founds of dimensions, and that's what you get. If you model this way, it's just not good practice. It's not a good way of doing it. Okay, so I'm going to You're awesome for a bit more complex now that you would actually draw the line. So again, we're gonna tireless into the origin, Okay? By using it as a kind of bottom left corner. Andi, I'm gonna purposely do this. This is the way I like to sketch my wife. I've got a certain shape and actimates a certain shit. I just do it roughly. Okay? I just get the roof. I usually do about Jarvis. I'm purposely not doing them straight. Okay, I'll lining them up. Uh, okay. And you can see it's already put some constraint saying, See, fusion is very good at guessing. What? It thinks you're going to do what it thinks you want to do. OK, so it's already put something Some of them, um are of is one of us. So this, for instance, you know, that's a right angle. If I hold her over it that you could just see the two lines highlight this line on this line, highlight other, hover over it. So it's told you which lines that refers to. So this would be an obvious right angle. Same with this. No, that's a right ankle there, and you could see, But this one we know that isn't a right angle, but it's put the right angle constraint on, but you can see it's moved away from the corner, so that means it's not. It doesn't refer to this comment first of something else on lines don't need to be touched . You have this constraint love away. So if I highlight it, we can see this line highlights Andi baseline highlights. So as we've drawn it, fusion is I'm gonna guess that these would be right angles. He's correct. I want these to all be kind of night degree lines, which will do, but it's taken a good guess that it was wrong. I could just right click on Delete that. Okay, I mean, it could be whatever, but a lot of the time it has a good guess, and it's accurate. 16. 16 Sketching 03: So what else have we got? We've got this horizontal constraint, which I want. We've got his Parlow construct with these two lines. Okay, Well yep. Okay, So what I will do now is old. I'm showing you the workflow of sketching now. So the first thing you do is you do you constraints before your dimensions Do your constraints. Constrain it as much as you can. Really. The only things you should need dimensions for most of the time are set the actual overall scale of an object and also to set distances away. But I'll show you what I mean by that as we do it and you'll and you'll see just by watching, OK, you you could follow along with this, but it is just a randomly drawn sketch. And you probably better just watching this thing. So you get it and then trying yourself afterwards. So because I don't want this to all really be made off 90 degree lines, I've drawn it really rough. I could have done a bad job of drawing it, but I've drawn it really rough to show you. So I'm going to set my constraints now. I'm gonna do some right angles. Okay, so you slipped constraint. You want? I mean, you just start your two lines and you could see it puts saying, and as you doing it, lines will start to go black because lines will become fully constrained. Now there's a temptation to just select this right angle on, go around your whole drawing and do all your rights angle's you You could do that. There's nothing wrong with that. Um, but it only ties each line into the previous line. So that line is telling to that line. But onto that one of our own from what you trying to do with inventor is get a kind of baseline and tie. Everything bucks of up. It's just good practice, Um, that we've exactly seven. You probably would never ever know any difference, but I'm just trying to teach Good practice from the start is always good to learn. Good practice from the start. If you're gonna learn a way of doing things, you might as well learn with best practice. Okay, so I have this vertical line now I'm going to set parallel constraints. Would thought okay. And what sane here? Quite rightly. It's telling me It gives me a narrative that if you know it's up If I tried to slip these parallel, it says one era sketched geometry is over. Constrained now is over constrained phrase. You'll hear about a lot, believe May. And it basically means you give it too much information. You try not to duplicate information and they suffer because it's all start somewhere in the old Texas space and it's all just unneeded. Okay, So why is over constrained? Why ever given Marvin Italy's Well, we're trying to say this line is parallel to that line. But we know we have a right angle here on a right angle here, so it can only be parallel correct. It can't be anything else. So what I'm going to do is do it up. And if we try it now, we compile all this lying with that one. Now it works because it didn't have any other information country, too. You didn't contradict it, but it was just too much information was we was telling it to do the same thing in two different ways. Okay, Parlow is a good command tohave on drones. Um, if I again, we've got free right angles here. So it was come up with the same. So I'm actually gonna delete these right angles. I'm gonna Parlow these two lines here. These two lines here. Okay, check. This is already parallel to that one. So I'm just going to set this one, okay? They're all our parallels. No, I can see. Actually, I'll do is I'll set this one. I'm not one. Okay? And I will set this one. I'm not on. I'm also sensitive. That one. Um, no. So you can see now we've got just by putting our parallels on square dress up, okay? He's still blow. It still got blue lines because there's still a lot of information. It doesn't know. It doesn't know the length of these lines. It doesn't know the overall scale of its object, and that's where your dimensions will come in. But it is constrained in terms off the angles of these lines. OK, it was a bit more. We can do it. I won't. This line here miss lying to be on the same level so we can use this here. Colin, AEA If we slept that line, I'm not lying. You could see the go to the same line. Okay, if I show you again and I slept this line from that line. Okay? Andi, I also want my here as well. So Visa Catalunya. So the shape of our object is pretty much RV. Only thing I need which I will have to do Dimension is for distances of these lines Now, in terms of constraints, eyes basically there. So now I'm gonna put in a dimension. I'm gonna make this line 50. I'm gonna make this line 50. I'm going to make this line 25. I'm going to make a wall, Mr B 50 as well. Okay, but let me show you what happens if I met this 50. You could say it's brought us in, but it left the sling where it waas and what actually wanted it to do something like this to come in. And it's remember harder now. So sometimes you just have toward the are dimensions to say in a certain weight. So if I select this line first met up 25 Now, when I make this 50 it will moving on. I'm going to slip this on my up 25. Okay, We've still got some blue in here. And that's because we need to set these dimensions 50 50. Okay? No, that's all Come blood. Now I must because it is fully constrained. It's constrained with these parallel constraints, the right angles on its constrained with us. Okay. And that is what you want to him for an oil sketches. We set this line horizontal on were others parallel with right angles. It's now completely locked in place. Try and make sure all your sketches of blood lines around. And if they don't, it means I've still got a degree of freedom and try and work out what's missing and locked in place. 17. 17 Sketching 04: when you're during sketching, Let's say you wanted an object with a curved edge you'd have to sketch Anak. Okay, so in just normal sketch and you can see inventor Sorry, I'm going to sketch the same object again. I want you to just watch what happens when I sketch it with a bit more care. Because I can put Remember in fusion guest a lot of the constraints. You can help it. Guess those by just drawing it and watching what it's trying to do. You can see when I It's like a snaps to the vertical and it puts that vertical constraint in blue. But if you can see that guy actually moving a mouse to it to show you to point out week hopefully conceives a blue vertical constructor and have it be a blue horizontal constraint . Okay, so that's kind It's on you. If you If you put it there, I will put this constraint on for you. So also, you can see that I mentions moving. If we want a vegetable that you can get it roughly. You don't need to. I mean, you could type in 1 50 there, Okay? And you could look it, but I tend to just do it by I just not. That's my preference. I like to I'll give it. Tell it what I mentioned myself. But you could see this vertical constructing blow. I want to put it down. It actually puts a vertical construction. This tick box. If I wanted to finish with sketch command now and not draw any more, you can select that tick box. But now we go as we move here. So now we go to a right angle. You can hopefully say Hey, it will put a blue square, Must you right angle? OK, it's not the same icon is a constraint where you get the tea, but it changes to t when you drop it. So here it's putting over angle. It does like it's right angle constraints. Okay, there's nothing wrong with that. You can do it that way if you want, but this is how fusion will guess what you want to do. But what I want to shave. Remember the coal linear construct where these two lines were in line with each other? Well, it will also guess that you can see you get his blue dust line it's basically going to put your lines in line with each other. OK, so you can kind of accurately draw things Colonia and 90 degrees just with your based line . As your sketching put, Fusion does like these right angles and I it's total again. It's preference. I just prefer the mall to be tied back. Really, it really doesn't matter. It really doesn't matter. In her preference thing. I prefer parallel two right angles, but we can leave it this way because that's how fusion does it. So now if we put Colin E. On here, when we when we sketches out, we got the blue dash lie and it put these company. But it doesn't. It doesn't constrain them that way. Um, you can use girl any on vertical lines as well. Doesn't have to be hard on foot. Could be any angle. Okay, you could see we got We got a lot better initial sketch and we did when we were purposely trying to over lines of different angles. So fusion is good, it estimating what it thinks you want to do. But let's say, as we were going to let's say we wanted a curve one of the edges of our plate to be curved . Okay, so we draw a line. Andi Fusion is only letting us do straight lines. Well, if we hold down what's so wanted? A curved edge on our plate. Okay, stop the origin. Good. You could see fusion is only is only only wants to draw a straight line and we want a nice curve around here. So what we do, we go back to the initial point and you collect the left button, but hold it down. Don't let go of it. Hold it down while you've got a button held down drug out and you will see you get curve. Okay. But the important thing about his curve is where it starts. So I dropped it there. I'm gonna just go to a straight line. Uh, actually, I'm going to respond to the So when I started my curve on, I went back to the point I'm and held it out and drew this. You could see you've got this construct here. That is a ton geant constraint. And that means will the curve started tangential to this line, which means you can see this curve curves into the lines or smooth ton gin. That's what it means. So it's tangential. Baseline doesn't. This line has got a shop Awkward transition from curve tow line. It's not smooth transition. You get here us because these aren't tangential. Okay, when you have a constraint here, so you couldn't make them tangential. I'm gonna go and it puts this construction. So that's the tundra constraint. Okay. No, I'm gonna go through what? I'm gonna shave these other constraints we've used so far. The horizontal vertical which will just make a line horizontal or vertical with use a ton Geant, we'll use parallel. I have used perpendicular on Colonia, so we know what All those me some of these others we have this coincidence. Actually, people get is confused cause that the icon looks like perpendicular Looks like a right angle. So people get these mixed up Coincident actually means the object touches a line. Remember when we did the perpendicular? I will show you now. So we have something like to that Andi, it's too. Okay. So with our perpendicular alright, unwelcome And you don't need to lines that such a each other, you can say so these two lines are perpendicular right angles, but we don't actually touch. The end of this isn't touch him there. What coincident does is it Will It will make the ends of the line okay in line with each other. So let's say we wanted this line to go to reach this point here for you before you want to . Just met these to meet up. If we were to just make these two perpendicular yes, it would change the angle but doesn't actually meet it. Whereas coincident, it will make the line meat that point. OK, we could do that. We have a way around. So maybe you wanted that line, so you it doesn't have to be touching. It will just bring it in line with the with that line from accent, So Okay, No, this thing is coincident. Construct can get a bit, um confused. And what it what? It wants to do it. So maybe wanted to extend this line to there. So you think OK, I slept and I don't want Teoh a mosque, Right? The stunning is don't wait one If you were to slip the line on the map if you slept this point on that line when it it actually moves this line. But it might have bean what you actually wanted with this line to come back to their okay, But it's moving Miss line instead. A mass because it in this example I'm sure you both these lines of floating out fixed anywhere so you need to really use coincident will make more sense in a sketch like this where things are already fixed. Okay, that line is gonna move anywhere because it's constrained to the origin. So coincident is a great tool, but it does. It can throw things out if it's not used in conjunction with other constraints. 18. 18 Sketching 05: touching constraint we've seen equal. Okay, so maybe on Miss Case, we want this line here to be the same distance. Is that one? OK? Service, like, comes in half way along. You can do it with damages, but again you don't. You could save on dimensions by just making but line but line equal in distance. Okay, But the moment is it because it's not fully constrained ITT's move up. But as you constrain it as you go around and constraining, it will eventually go to the show you want. But it is set these two now to be equal length. Okay, So if I was to put a dimension first, let me make these Parlow So it makes more sense. So if I was to put Dimension I'm here and change upto 1 50 you can see it also changes this one. If I were to dimension this line now it will say it's over Constrained. It's too much information. We don't need it. I mentioned here because we've already talked. It is equal in length to this line and this line is 1 50 Okay, so we get over constrained era parallel. We know about perpendicular We know about. So locked. Well, you come look align if you're doing a dement sketch, Andi, a bit like we did when we originally made these two lines equal, it moved. In a way we didn't want it. Well, we could have locked that line. Okay, so let's go back to that point. Um, So first we made Res Barlow When I created. When I told it to make both these lines equal, it made from all the same. It was the shortest when I wanted to actually met him longer. Okay, so you could slip that one first, and it will. It will reference this one. That doesn't always work, by the way. Usually does, but not always. It depends on what? Of a constraint you've got so fix when you're doing these constraints and that it sometimes you as you've seen, when you select something to be parallel or wrangling it moves it as it doesn't move your sketch about. And sometimes it can move a point. Some points you want fixed. Okay, so let's say this was actual fixed This, but we didn't want it to. We wanted the sketch to move around, but we did this was our critical point forever. Reason we wanted it to be fixed. Okay, so you can just fix up. And it has gone black. Really. It's not fully constrained. It doesn't have enough information to fix a point in space. But you fixed it manually, okay? It's not something I use very often as a certain time when it's needed, when you have do off points of reference off something else. The problem is we have a vested because it puts those bloodlines on. It's hard to tell when your sketch isn't actually properly constrained in in the usual way , but every now and then you do need a certain point on your sketch to be fixed so you can use up make point. OK, so let's say Let's suppose we have a line. Yeah, and we've drawn into the line. Maybe, Uh okay, so we want this point to bay the So we want this baseline teacher outline there now a set to horizontal and vertical. So if I was to, uh, put it on so that I like that it's not touching that line, which is fine. Andi, it's 90 degrees because this line is vertical. That line is horizontal, but I actually wanted it in the middle. I wanted it in the middle of outline. Okay, so I'm gonna delete this coincidence, So I'm gonna delete this going straight constraint now. Okay, I'm gonna go back. So I want this point to be not just touch your side, but in the middle of that line. And that's where you would use this. So this midpoint constraint, I'm gonna slit up point. And you don't need to let the middle because it is midpoint. So you just set the line, and now it is not only touch it, but it's touching in the mid point. OK, concentric. Consensual is used with multiple, um, circles, all arcs. Oh, ellipses. So we have that is two circles here. Well, actually wanted this circle to be inside the large one, so you can click concentric on, just slipped out to circles, and again one moves to the other. Um, if it was further constrained, which it would need to be, this would I might be damaged off something that would, in turn in which one moved onto the ever Okay, fusion sex. I guess sometimes I guess it depends on the audience select them. But it doesn't always work out that way if it's off a constraints going up. So symmetry. This is where let's say we hunt on a triangle is the usual object for this. Um Okay, so we wanted this to be a symmetrical strangle. So what we could do is draw a line here, use our, um, midpoint command. Uh, and then we could change this line to construction because we don't actually want this life . This is gonna be estimate Tree line on what we want. Is these two to be symmetrical about? Okay, shave again. We want this triangle to be symmetrical. So you put in your centerline your mirrored line, if you like, where you want them to be symmetrical about so symmetry. You slept your two objects. Remember? Lying. You want them to be symmetrical about Liza, Your symmetry constraints. If you highlight them, it will highlight these free. Okay, so now this triangle, if we move it, it will still move about. But those will stay symmetrical about outline. Okay? And if you slept the other dimension there, we can say Okay, so that symmetry. That's what I was thinking. Most of the time you will be using parallels and right angles and after climbing on it's hard horizontal, vertical. If using are actually used. Tangents. Symmetry as its uses. It's it's one of those that's used every home and no, hey, we have curvature command constraint. I never use this to Ohio. Ever use this? This is so when If we just climb, which is explain it just a curved line, which remains a curve. OK, I mean, let's say we have un of a spine like this. Okay, So if we slept with curvature on, we slept. These two supply lines, you can see it creates a smooth transitional curve off one curve to another. It's very similar to the tangent command. You use it in a very specific situation. Mainly when you do an organic shapes, we've lots of curves, and you want them to blend in. To be honest, I have every user, so some of these constructively used over time of his life, but you may never, ever use, but that's what it does anyway. So that's our constraints. Basically, um, I haven't missed turning out, so that's how you use them, and that's how you will fix your drawing in space. Okay, so start the origin even in my center by using a If you did a circle, it would be the center. If you did a center rectangle, it will be in the center. Go around. Use the constraints that fusion puts him if you want, I'll put your own in. But yeah, when you do a sketch, yeah, When you do a sketch, make sure it's all constructed up. I'm not gonna go through this. I'll sketch again. But once it's all constrained up, imagine missiles black. It was all constrained when you put in your dimensions, just set distances in scale and then you ready to go. And that's how you want all your sketches to be to be no degrees of freedom All the lines to be black and fully constraint Okay? 19. 19 Fillets and Chamfers 01: Okay, So all about sketching and you now know all you should need to know about creating good sketches. Gonna go back to doing some modeling. Now, we've already looked up How we can create shows from extrusion Z and things like that was just a few more tools, Like doing the patterns of the holes I want to show you. And then we'll move on to do it. Actually met modeling some items. Okay, so I'm going to create a sketch. Andi wants to a certain point rectangle. Okay? And I'm just going to make this was making best 1 50 to Okay, so finish fights. Kept that sketch, and I'll extrude it aren't for my That's 100. Okay, so as I've said, you've in the normal workflow carried on from that sketch and extremely is you can do other sketches. And so I want to a sketch on this face here. I'm going. I'm going to create another rectangle which will be small. This one will be 1 20 by can 100. Okay, finish up. And this is what you do a lot. But I'm just build up your sketches creating different geometry. Okay, so I'm just gonna get 90 will do that. And then maybe we have a sketch of Miss Face and this will be a circle. Um, centred. Um, report. The on a member is 50. Okay, I'm just gonna set in space. Go finish sketch going on, then I will extrude maybe. Yeah, if you will do. Andi, I'm going to do a sketch on here again. I was gonna place it, mate, but, um, let's make it 50 again. I'm in. Certainly. Okay, finished that sketch. And this one is going to be extruded. This one won't hold to the okay I went out with, they say, and I'm also going to put 25 hole. Okay. And if you know, is that snapped to the concentric point of that circle so us in black? Because it's set. I don't need that. I mentioned Where is I'm also going to make this into a hole and what I'm going to do. I want this hole to go down, basically, like for this cylinder, so I can so to object. And I cannot use that face there. Okay, so I imagine Miss would be kind of some kind of part, maybe offer the machine on. It's just some made of metal part. Actually, I want to show some things on it. So if leak already sale quickly, can come up with things like this. But it does look a bit blocking Maria. Well, it probably wouldn't look. It wouldn't have a straight as use here. It would. I'm imagining this has been machined out of one single block. Okay, so if you look at this material world, it would have been a curved Ghana's on it here, in here, where it being created when we can have those really easily we use this commander pay, which is fill it. Okay, so as always, whatever is asking you for highlights in blue, and it's asking us to slip the edges, so I want to put like an internal radius on here. I'm going slipped. You said she's okay. Come on. One of the moment we a radius zero. Well, it feels a 10 millimeter radius. Okay, you can see it's on. The option we have is constant radius, so you can have different kinds of radius for now. Most of the time you will be doing these constant radius is which is just a straight. Simple curve much All. We're going to look up here because it just gets too confusing to start messing about different types of rapists. I just want to show you the simple radios that you'll use 99% of the tub. And that's just this internal radios here. But I also want me a juice here to be done, so I'm going to so let me top, eh? Geez. Okay, This one. I'm gonna make five. I don't know, OK? And you'll see already. It's starting to look a bit more realistic with these curved edges. Now, on this edge, I actually want to do Okay, Okay. No one they said, Yeah, I don't want a curve. I want call a sham for which is the, like, a 45 degree. I'm cut on it. So if we pull down What if I We have Philip, We also have Sham for and it works pretty much a so much. Just just list options so slightly. These edges I'm in. What Schumpeter do we want? Well, these are setting. You will change. You can have equal distance, equal distances. Basically a 45 degree cup on. It's a simplest jumper, which will use most of the time. If that shuffles and even you used to distances are distance an angle on, we'll look at those. But for now, this is gonna be an equal distance. Okay, on the distance is going to be Let's use our let's try 10 yet that's okay. So that said millimeters. So this is put a 10 millimeter Shumpert. Basically, we see it here we look at this side, it's a 45 degree cup, which is 10 millimeters. 20. 20 Fillets and Chamfers 02: Okay, now it may be you didn't actually want 45 degrees. Maybe. And let's do it on this edge here instead of equal distance, you want to different distances. So the 1st 1 might be 10. Who but the second might have bean 25. OK, and you can see what that's done. So you've got you 10. No, me too. There. But you've got 25. Okay, Sometimes instead of having to distances a lot of time when something's Kate, we cooked to us at an angle. So you might like this one here, which would be 10 millimeters in that direction. And this would be at an angle. All's well, let's change That lets my acts 17. Okay. And it would look like light up. Well, okay, on it gives you this nice edge here. So you could see a lot of these details beginning. Might have sketch frozen. If you want. This part might have looked and fought. Well, what I'll do is I'll sketch this shape with for some for and in my sketch. I'll do this and put in a rounded a curve on you say I'm not trying do out on the sketch it's not the best way creates a very complex sketch, but also, as with anything infusion or any kind of frilly stuff way, you should always be thinking This is going to change. And if you work in industry, things will change all the time, believe me. So you're going to try to make it easy as possible for yourself and whoever else may work on this model to change in the future. So your sketch should have a simple There's a time blocking out, which is in any free D you ever It's Freedy for movies. Graphics really figured very initial thing you do is you block out a complex model and it could be a model of a figure or car or anything very complex. But the very first model you do will be a very kind of blocky, just basic, made of cubes and circle in just a very blocky general outline shape. That's my life. How you would start menu going and refine things like the corners and the flight. Use Shumpert's and use fillets do these corners, and it means any time you can go back infusion, you can do your history so you could come around here. You can see what's highlighted. If we want to change its radius, for instance, we can see it highlighted. Vera, we can right click edit feature and we can put it down to five. Okay. And you can say that's jumped on. If that was part of a sketch, that would have been a much more complicated process, and it might have had knock on effects to other parts of his model. It is just much, much easier to block out your object from a sketch and the new Shumpert's fillets and things like that. Okay, so I also want to put an edge on here on that will be a a sham, for we can do it on curved objects as well. So but this one on road to use equal distance on missile use issues, five actually look legless. Used to 0.5. OK, that will give you this nicely. Shumpert edge there, which is much more realistic. It stands a lot like this is actually being machined out of a single part now is not just up blocked shape. Okay, I'm also gonna put up same Shumpert up on two. Such here. Okay, Now let me show you something I wouldn't service, I imagine. Would be some kind of whole It would be. So. The subject is pure come out of my imagination. But straight where I imagine Miss would be some kind of fixing for a bolt or something like that would screw in here. I wouldn't create that the way I just did. I did write to show you about sketching on faces and things like that. This is Ah, whole. Okay. And we'll look at holes in the next chapter, so we'll be changing that. But for now, let's just go of it. I'm probably saying without as well, actually, but this lesson is all about Shumpert and Phillips. So let's put another fill it on. Just it was a bottom look up, It more real. And here we have a sham. For what? You can still do, Phillies. Okay, you can still use your Philip Command. You've already got a fillip, Commander. You can put these nice, rounded edges on it. Okay? A man much. They're going to do any such is as well, like always five. Okay, now you can see it was a bit of a, um this doesn't look too good. So I'm going to add vase. Let's see what happens. We're basically Philippine. Something that's already been Shumpert on these joining fill it. Quite a complicated thing, actually, for software to work out, but not for fusion, So it just kinda blends in. So far, it is looking good over there. Um, that's Philipson Jumpers, and you can use them to blend objects in and make much more realistic looking edges and corners. Okay, so I got not So, General Werfel, you block out with your sketch and you refine it with these things. Lights from Well, look it some larvae. So we're gonna look holes in the next chapter where we'll make these in a much better way, okay? 21. 21 Holes and threads 01: so we'll come back on now. We're going to look up making these holes and the difference between doing it the way we did here, which was an extrusion on the whole. Okay, so different people will do different ways here. But my general rule of thumb on one, which I think is good practice, is having this basic difference between what is Ah, hole on what is a cutout. So if if you had, say, a large a large objects and it under holding which was for lightning purposes or so you could get another, maybe it wasn't. It's like a big inspection circular cutout, something like that. And to me, that is what I would call it. Cuts out and I'll create up that with a sketch and extrusion like we did here. If, however, we had smaller opening for something for a bolt off for another part to go in, and I would tend to think of that as more of a whole Andi, I understand when you're beginning, you thinking, Well, what's the difference? But the whole actually, troops whole actually has its own command. Okay, which is here, this whole command, and by creating it with this commanding of you Much more options and power looking and fusion thinks of it as a whole with this extra geometry. Include. So let's just go to our That was a sketch for this whole, uh, okay. Service walls, 50 millimeters date. And we created it with this. Cuts at extrusion under. Forget it. A sketch. We can see it was 25 diameter. Okay, well, I'm going to do it from a history. I'm going to leave out sketch. In fact, I would edit that sketch. Okay, So the whole needs it will look for somewhere to put the whole finally a circle. And under the sketch commands, we have this object here, which is called Point. And if we put on, we can put that on the snap to ascend to a circle weaken, Drop it there. And all he's done is put a dot Okay, So if you do any kind of manufacturing, if you want to drill a hole, the chances are you would measure out where the whole will go, and then you'll get something like a center punch on your punch. A point on my object, which would then allow a guy that drill bit or something to cut it out from us. A good way of thinking about this point sketch. It does Just put dot a point, if you like on a on a sketch. In this case, it snapped a center circle. But you can dimension that point. Okay? It's gonna sex ever constrained because it's already fixed to the center of a circle. But you can mention that point. So you let's create some mall, but I want to finish out sketch I'm gonna have to sketch on. I'm going to also delete, but holder Andi revving it up, Complete about sketch. Okay, so I'm gonna create more holes. I'm going to sketch on here. I'm gonna so at this point again, and I'm just gonna roughly click, okay? And I've put four points on there on What I'm going to do is I want to dimension them. No office. Where is Shumpert? Stops. I want it off edge, and it's going to be lets go of 25 okay. And a friend. It will pay 25 so we could put dimensions on each hole the same, but okay, Whenever you see self duplicating work, that should set alarm bells ringing. You don't. If you're duplicating, you're probably not doing it the quickest way. What I'll do is I'll put line there. All right, clip up and I'll make a construction line. A man. I will. 25. Okay, and I'll slip America mound. It's like these two objects and I use this construction line as a mirror. Okay, there we go. So these are married. Now delete these two. We conceive it by mirror, and it makes it easier if he's changed. Now, if moves to 20 we could see that one did as well. So let's finish asking. So what? We've ended up with these some points. OK, we've got this point sketch here, which is just a point that we've got these and you can imagine. So come along. And not a little Centrepoint center punch on there. Actually, I don't rent to the late this works. We don't because it's a circle. I can share different life doing that. So here we've got outfall points and here we don't have anything. So we got the whole command and weaken slept our fall points. These are just fall points in a sketch, okay. And when we slept. When we get these big red circles it this is showing us what our whole settings are set. Okay, So you can see already we get much more, get many more options for the whole than we would if it was just an extrusion. So let's set this to, um Actually, this is this is the damage of the whole here, So I'm gonna set up time, OK? Do you go? This is what? That This one. Okay, now let's go back up here. We can have extents, and we can have, like we did with extrusion we could set to. Okay, so we could say it's going to go to this face here, and you'll see it puts him away. Fruit. You talk about the distance. I'm Let's make this 50. Then we can look at these other options here. So whole type of simple hole. It's giving you an idea of how it creates a whole the shape of a profile of at home. So about simple. That's just a normal home. Here. We have accountable. So if you wanted a kind of explosives to sit in that pocket at the top and you could give it a 10 mill deep on bond. Uh, so let's go with 15 millimeters wide pocket. Okay, topside. Well, I want Mr Befriended. Now you're gonna get this. So what friends you want? Well, it's gonna be a metric profile. It's gonna be I'm not quite known because we've given damage. A It was kind of it was this big catalogue of sizes. It will kind of drying. Guess. Okay, look, I'm gonna make this an an time so we could select 10 millimeters. Okay, we get these of a pitch size of a Fred. So I'm just going up 10 times. 1.5. If you If you're into mechanics of engineering and you'll know what a lot this means if you don't. If this is getting confusing now, don't worry about these air. Just standard engineering Fred Sizes. It shows you the power of fusion, and it contains all this information if you need it. But if you just want to show it, it was a Fred just for display purposes. Just select Fred ok, and make this size the same sizes of damage that basically Okay, So, um yeah, it's also like a zen example. So we got Fred it on the drill. Point angled. So it's like a point on the end of a whole lot. Just flat. I was gonna leave it lap for now. We'll just I slept OK, I'm Future is gonna go ahead and it's gonna create which will bay Fred. It whole. You can just see because of the pattern that's got pointed into the hole. It's got these pockets that something will sit in tow, okay? 22. 22 Holes and threads 02: quite why you'd need that Engineering terms the bolt just to sit in there? Not actually. I don't know. But that's how you create Holsey. You can already see that by using whole instead of extrude. You get a lot of extra features that you can then go back and edit anytime you want. So if you do decide this you know what? This isn't accountable. You could have account to sync as well by the line, so works exactly the same way. So you could have this counter sink where a screw head would fit in and be flush. But you could go back and you can, Jane, vis to just a simple unfriended flood hole. And then you could say, I want the distance to this face and it's still a better way with some flies. It's still a better way of doing it than the extrusion office to me. These they looked at these. I'm apart these a holes. These are not cut out of their holes. Goods that would be much larger. Circular thing, talked a lot. Anything that goes on the spot generally call a whole because it's it is a small part, so good sounds. I think of things that live secular lightning could talents that you would have fallen objects light and things like that. Okay, now, for my friend and hall I wanted in here, I'll just do that sketch and I just dropped a point and they could see you get his blue circle where it's burning in the centre circle. That's a strong point there. So that whole on this one I want to be. I have a counter sink on it. It's going to Bay M 15. Let's make it. Let's make it 50 millimeters state on this chops. Okay? No, it's we need to make this 20 90 degree. Okay, so you know, you can really imagine something will screw into that. It's starting to look like an actual partner. You would see somewhere these I'm imagining something. Well, Fred, for movies and just fix it in place, I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to put a sham for onto these holes, which we can do you can shun for just about anything. Just of two millimeters. Okay, let's do about me. Besides, as well have a go. Now we have something that looks real and that is something we've created its second longer because I've been demonstrating things. But if someone, if you saw the object in real life, someone put in hundreds of uneven, you might look at it as a begin. Anything? Lots quite complex. But you can see it's no, it really isn't is just to, um, cubes of boxes from sketches and exclusions a cylinder. And then the rest is suspended with Shumpert's and holes, and it It's actually quite simple. But how? This thing about this, if you have to model this from a real life object in your hand, would be actually not hard. But the longest thing in terms of work would be taking measurements off it on. But in a lot of industries, that would be a work. So you'd be given an object like this. These things that is land on my desk all the time and some also right. We need to replicate this so I sit there with my calipers are something you've got confidence, something else to measure with. Get yourself some calipers. If this is kind of thing, you do any of don't other, you don't need to spend a fortune on them, but they'll give you accurate dimensions. So you sit there. This will be on the desk, grabbed my calipers, and I'd start measuring things like just to create my initial blocks. Originally, measure as I'm modeling it. So Okay, what's that thickness of this box here? Well, it's coming. What it was, but maybe it's 100 by 1 50 by 100. And block it out like that as we go on without measure the sham. First measured Emmett of the holes would be set there, and I'll be created it as a measurements off and you end up with us. I mean, you, you know, you could send this model to someone with a CNC facilities, something like that. Okay, Model it. They would take this file and what you wouldn't just you'd spit out of fusion in a certain way, and they would just put into the machine a machine with greatness. So that's the power of this kind of suffer. It just makes things so easy. And things that could look quite complex could be done in a matter of minutes. Okay, So cream object. We looked at holes on. We looked at jumpers. You know, you know, the basic modeling commands of extruding involving sweeping that kind of thing. Um, we've look at Fred's in terms of holes. Okay, if we did, just if we did just put a I'm just going to really simply point. I'm not even gonna Just for about these purposes, I'm not even going todo dimension. And I'm gonna create a hole. Just a simple hold the Okay, um, on the damn it, it will be 20. Let's go. 40. So pick hold. Actually, let's edit that. Andi, I'm going to do this sort of distance. I'll go to this face. So if you did have a simple on this could have been done with an extrusion, like a cutter or hope simple hole like this. And later on, you wanted to put afraid about you. You could have a whole set into this case because it was a whole. But if it was an extrusion, you wouldn't have that chance. So there is a Fred Command. Okay, which will let you select something nice face, and it will give you these stunned, erred options. See, it thought it was a four to damage. Holds what? Selected an M 40 bolt, which probably right. Okay we have is the right hand, Fred. Things are again. That's advanced kind of us for the engineers out. I don't know what these things mean. It's based on the direction of a Fred is the direction you would turn the ball on the pitch between the friends itself, but just okay, But you could see you can actually just a simple Fred on things fairly easily. And it doesn't have to be a whole of a way. You could have done that on here, and it will slut again diameter. And now we've got Fred on here. We could actually screw something on there. So maybe this is some kind of connection pipe where the middle's screw. It would be very strange thing to have a friend of me inside on the outside, but and actually captured screw on manual? No. So you do have the chance to build Fred's just on their own. I'm in down here so you can edit them by right clicking edit feature. Um, so the one thing we talking now is patterns, patterns. When we did these holes here, I purposely did them. We marriage. We drew two points and we married it, which was okay. You might have wanted to mirror a mirror of them first. This way, then that way. So you'd only draw one on the sketch you'd mirror. We've all here. I mean, you, Mary, both, please. That were a little bit. But if you're doing anything like that, where you duplicating these same objects, there's an easy method which we're gonna look at him and you in the next chapter, okay? 23. 23 Paterns 01: Okay, so you could say that if you want, I'm going to start a new design. Now we're going to look at this appear, which is patterns. I missed two main types of patterns with first, we're going to look at rectangular buttons. OK, so let's start with a sketch and I just want to create just that. Think of this is like a fin stale rectangular plates. OK, it's gonna be a 300 five Afraid 100. Okay, let's go on. It's going to they just a That's my It's just a 10 millimeter thick plate. So just a steel plate like you would find all over things like building sites on manufacturing. No one thing, which is worth pointing out here. If you look us what this plate is 300 by 300. If you look at this on hungrily, looks kind of strange. It looks like research. It's small of a message. In terms of length, you could see amounts because we have almost perspective, which, depending what you doing come bigger. But in cases like this, it can be confusing. It looks like this play is completely warped. Okay, so you can change up here if you you see this arrow you have so we can change it into this perspective perspective, with all four faces. Okay. I mean, different settings will give you different types of you. So these two really you won't see much difference. Something lies, but off a graphic. It is. It does look kind of strange for now, we're put on perspective because it just it looks a lot better on me. I OK, so you could change your sense. If you don't like one, you can stick to it. It doesn't change our object. We haven't changed any lengths or any part of our object. Physically, this is just a view. Think. OK, in your view settings out here. So I want to put almost play. We want lots and lots of holes all over it. So you might think OK, we're gonna caressed, get you're gonna put well, you could put actual If he's a circular holes, you could enjoy your circles. What? Uh, from then you could keep drawing them. I mean, you could dimension them all. You know, you have probably already realized dying away to do it again. Whenever you find yourself duplicating work, you should alarm bells were going off in your head. Generally, if you've got a lot of objects that were saying you want to drop one of them and then that will drive all viewers. I'm that way. In fact, if the size of up Qatar, anything changes than you just change one on the old change in this case, these aren't going to be holds with Fred's and an actual problem. Is it gonna be These are what I think more of cutouts because it's just a circular cutout. Okay, so I'm just going to dimension the size of it at 25 diameters. I mean, I'm going too much. I'm going to put out 35. Okay. My photo and I'm gonna put the I'm going to finish out sketch. Okay? I'm not gonna use all many use extreme of this one. I'm gonna go to this face here. Okay? So it's not freehold or anything. It's just cuts out. Basically, don't ask what this place far because I'm making up but is a play, and we want lots of these holes in, like, a great all around. So we use this here, which is rectangular pattern. Okay, click on my now, The first thing it's gonna dio Andi, it'll defaults his face of which what want and what you want. Most of the time, it's gonna ask us which object we want to copy multiple times. So we slept about. Okay, Now it's going to say what direction? Well, let's suppose we just wanted a role from along the top. We didn't want to fill this area. We just wanted to roll days on the top. So the direction would be along this line here. And you could see the arrow is pointing that way, and you can drug him out. So maybe if we wanted him here, I don't. Why would? Because there's nothing there. We could judge the hour. We want them this way. Okay. As fusion does, it is kind of gonna guess at first where it thinks you might want one on its put free. We won't move in free. We actually want six. Okay, So because we've uses arrow and it's automatically given its working out the distance between them equally, it's putting six in of Ah, whatever length is in here. So I'm going to say to 65 Okay. I believe that it was 35. Here was 35. Anyway, I'm going to say to Pfirter, Okay, so it's put six, and and it's equally spaced them along to 30 uh, to 30 millimeters constant distance type extents. Or so you can select how you wanted to work without you. You'll generally measure will be given a dimension that could be distance between holes. Or it could be overall distance Must what? It's asking you here. So we we were given overall distance of 2 30 So we used extent. If we would just someone just gave us a foot spacing and we could slip spacing. Okay, well, six. And it's actually let's change that. We want six at 35 millimeters spacing and it will work out for you, too. So it depends on what you've been given. Okay, I'm just gonna do it. Quantity. So what we know about that's how many we want, but I'm not, is our distance we put in here. So these this is just duplicating what you see here. Direction one direction. It's nothing to do with the band. One direction. It's asking those obviously, which date Wade, we want that we set that by dragging me sorrow, but it might have been It was symmetrical. So we wanted it either side in this case because we chose six. It's not going to be some May, but need to be out. Numbers of seven, for instance, will put free either side. That makes sense. Let's go back to one direction. No refund on. We will go six. Okay, um, that's And the this refers to the other direction. So because we only if we only want to this row, we can, okay, right now. And it will do those holes. Okay. So much easier doing them individually. And we can also go down to our history and we can edit this feature. So now someone comes along and says, Were you doing it? Won't just wander out. I wanted him all of a plate. Okay, So Okay. Now I need to put more in so we can edit this feature and we've already set this. This is our quantity, sex and of space. And will the other direction. It's set to warm. So it's basically just saying you have got one row. So what we need to do is change about 26 rows. Okay, on what we'll do is we'll use the same kind of distance we can okay about. I mean, we have it. So if you just look it up again, all we've done is sweat. Verse. Direction is six at 2 30 and then the second direction is 62 foot. Okay, Now you do get an option for another. You don't really need that. Okay, so that is patterning, and you can see it makes it much easier to go in to change your pattern use later. And if ever you need to do something, imagine a mean I'm looking now at my computer. Amusing. It's got event on the front of the event is actually looks a bit like this. It's got lots of holes on it. If ever you need to create that. This is exactly Do it take you minutes because you just create one. I mean, you space them out. That's so easy on. That is a rectangular pattern. Okay, you do get and I'll shave, issue do get If we do the sketch on this face and we put the whole it's just not gonna measure it, so I'm not gonna constrain it just, for example, we put a hole there. There is the same kind of patterns under your sketch command so you could do it. The rectangular pattern off that whole on you could do it the same sort off way. Okay, in a sketch. Men, you could you would have to slit each of those holes. Oh, after your sketch, you would have to such each of them so extreme. Okay, so it's not a good way of doing it, but there's times when you might want to do pattern in a sketch, but you wouldn't use it this way because you'd still have to select them all these different extrusion. So it's a very again alarm bells would be going off and you had Why am I slept in all these ? There must be a nisi away. I'm not clear example 24. 24 Paterns 02: okay, and I'm going to leave, So yeah, that is a rectangular pattern. No, I did say there's two different types of pattern, and we're gonna look at that now. I'm gonna I'm going to just to be always. Andi. Yeah. I could just start a new drawing. I don't wanna do it this way. So let's do a sketch here on this one will be a circle off 500. Okay, I'm gonna finish on my own again. Is going to pay a 10 mil Mehta plate. So, circular plate, How much of this? This would go on the bottom of something like a column. Okay. But I don't need the full circle. I'm gonna do another sketch now. This is where I talk about difference between holes and hotels. I want this to be like a huge washer. If you like something, we're going between. It was imagining it was still under the circular column is like a space or something. Doesn't matter if you don't know what I'm talking about this fall along. So this will be 400. I'm not I'm gonna extreme. It's gonna go so that face the cuts. Okay, So now ever speak ring here. We could have just come up from the start in a original sketch. Okay, so when we first did our sketch, we could have drawn it that way. And just Officer just extruded the ring itself. But it's just how I like to work. I like to break things like that down. If someone comes along later, since there's actually this internal diameters isn't rather going into your sketching it, you know you've got one. This inside cuts out is a sketch and a feature in itself. It's just the way I like to work with, actually no difference whatsoever. A map in terms of best practice that would go either way. Really. So it's just my preference book. Hopefully, now you can see the difference between a hole in a cutout vest. To me is a Qatar is. It's a big, open circular void. Okay, you wouldn't put a Freddie Mac or anything. It's just a could sell, so there's gonna be loads of bolts around what was calm, and we need holes from Malta going. So let's do a sketch onto my face for on what we'll do is we'll draw our first hole. Okay, Um I'm a drawer. Uh, I won't make it. It's gonna be 25 diameter. Okay, that's going to pay, because it's a circle. It's gonna wanna dimension from the center of a circle. We know that radius of the outside of his ring because it was a 500 dammit. Is to 50 and we want a center 20. Well, it's 50 millimeters wide. Okay, Because this is 400 diameter. Um, that's 500 diameter. So it's 50 either size. It's 50 wide, and we want our whole to be in the center, so it's gonna be to 50 minus two to far 25. Okay. Again, if I If that's confusing, just bear with us. All I'm doing is putting this in the center of this whip, so it will be 3 to 5. I'm never going Now it's still in blow. It's And it's not Flicka stream because it doesn't know whereabouts on here is. Okay, so what I'm going to do just to fall a good practice is I'm gonna put lying strata, and I'm gonna make it a construction line. Okay, I'm gonna make a circle coincident. Uh, so we've told it that this center of a circle sits on this line, and now it's gone block. It's fully constrained now, Okay? So we can finish that sketch and we will Now again, we could make this a hole if you wanted. Um, it's No, it's not gonna really shown for that. It's not every friends and it's just a whole I'm just going to make an extrusion. It's really if it's not if you don't need any of the whole features and it's not strictly a hole in in terms of the friends of things, you can take a call on it. But I'm just going on extrusion. If I wanted any kind of counter sink or it of being made to fit a certain bolt size something like that, which it may have pain in this case, then orders on the whole. But for the purpose of this example is going to use an extrusion. Okay, so there we have a way of one whole know what we want is what one all around this circle. So the pattern years before was a rectangular pattern. What we're going to use now, it is forgot to pattern. We could have circular pattern. Okay, you slept the whole and we get fewer objects now because because it's circular is not as much we need to do. It will ask for our axes. We conflict that if you slept a circle, then it will see the axes of circles. It will see the middle of it. The center axes if you like. Okay, you don't need but to be in axes or any line in the middle of you could just slip the circle it will use. It exceeds about circle so you can see it's putting holes around the outside. It's only putting free because it's that here, free. So maybe we wanted 45 primitive way we wanted 25. Probably more like it. 25 holes. Still looks like a lot this year with 15. Okay, I've spent more Real. So we got 15 holes now. What if you didn't want them all the way around? The only went round this side. That's for certain here. So you can you can use it angle. So it's 180 degrees. It's just round 1/2. Maybe it was to 70 degrees. Okay, but generally it will be around the full circle. I'm not you go. I'm not. So you'd create that kind of play again if someone said vase were made to fit an M 10 or M 25 Bolt when you might want to use creative assholes is sort of extraditions and set them to create for an inter defiant. It's up to you, but in order, demonstrators circular pattern, that's that's good enough for us. Okay, so that's how you do it. And again, hopefully. Actually, this is something you would probably but so many uses for an object like this. You know, I'm already what I'm looking at. I can think of a few times, but I've seen enough give. It looks like this. You get them around fuel caps on cars. You get them on bicycles around the wheels. All sorts of I'm not saying Make it easy. He's just again. It's just a selling. There is a polite of things that I learned over. One has a cut out one hole and then circular. But if usually makes things if you songs, you can visualize how that's broken down into the simple objects. Fusion makes life so much easier. I'm not so powerful, so that's a circular pattern. So plus, Kurt's when you design 25. 25 Paterns 03: Okay. So in terms of buttons, we've looked at the rectangular pattern on the circular pattern. There's one more I want to show it. Just put it on a path. Okay. So I'm just gonna do a very basic sketch here, Andi, just to show you how this works, Okay? I'm just going to a very simple cylinder. Let's make about 25. Okay. What? I'm gonna do another sketch. Just my And I'm going to draw a line I'm gonna draw supplying. Yeah, I noticed. Good, too. Something like this. Okay, I'm just gonna finish that sketch and leave up sketched line. Just hanging there. Okay, So now we go to pattern, put it on a path, and it will ask is Patton type objects and puff? Well, as usual, I'm gonna try and select this, but you can see it's only asking May. It's only like highlighting the actual face of subject, Not the object itself must because of this set in here. So I want to this time for this pattern. I want to do the whole body. Okay. So wherever you have this selection dropped down and it's his face is you can select the faces which will just like what you select a certain face of an object, our body or features. If it was a feature components for this, I'm going slight body. Okay? And then it lost me for the path of the path. I'm gonna slap this line and you'll see if I we did get era there. But you can just ignore that. If I drag this now it's blue. Our we usually get you conceived, actually is copying two more off his component, but it's copying and copying it along the path I drew on the sketch and it's set to free. At the moment we could set up to 30 okay, and you'll see. But it will do 30 spaced along that line, and again we get the same kind of options. We can set it. So it's a certain number of objects based equally along that line. Okay, I just thought dima quantity and that will be extent service means the same as re before the distance type is the extent of its line, or where this blue iro is going to. So at the moment is putting 30 equally spaced along this path to the extent of this blue line. That's what I mean. But we could change that to space. And if we knew and a lot of time for doing this, you would. No. The space in between the objects So we could say spacing. And we could just set it to bay every 50 millimeters. So it would do 30 objects every 50 millimeters space to one might line. Okay, um and again, that's one of those things you use every now men. But when you need it, it is a life saver. It's particularly good for doing things like chains, you, Joe, one chain link, and you draw how verging runs, and then you just pattern it along the line of the chain. That makes sense. Very good. Full up. Um, yeah, that's it. That's how it works. So that see, pattern along pattern on a path command. Okay. Also, one thing I will show you about this is and I won't. I'm going to need to change the object so I can go back to where I drew the subject. Um, and fucked Go back to where I sketch the object, and it was sketch. Okay. And I'm going to make it slightly different shape just to demonstrate something. Okay, so I'm going to trim out these lines and I'm gonna get is there because of changes shape I selected? That's okay. Finish that sketch. No, let's edit this putting it again. So what you can say it is, and I'm going to change it to extents. So what you can see is it's patterning the object along the path, but the orientation of the object is staying the same. If you were doing something like a chain, you probably want the orientation to turn and follow. This powerful must you can do out here so the moment it sets identical, which means each one will be identical to the original. But you can judge its path direction, and you'll see now, like a chain, would they all orientate themselves based on how the original was orientated to the powerful fat makes sense. I'm sure you can see it. It makes a lot more sense just to see it for me. China, explaining that you could see what it's doing. So that's it. That's one good set. A member of it you'll particularly use if you do things like change. It's OK. So that's pattern 26. 26 Brake Disc Model 01: Okay, So I think we've enough learning just for now. And it's time to make something before it gets too much teaching. Let's just make something because that's what everyone wants to do. So do a new designer. One thing that I think will be good to create that well, make use of the things we've just looked would be a like a brake disc off a car. Don't worry. If you don't really know what they are or what they look like, just follow along with May just just follow along. Do ideo, Andi. Hopefully a lot of the things which is low. It will make much more sense. So we're gonna start as usual with the sketch. I will do it on this plane here it will be a centred Amy to circle. And I am going to come up with these dimensions that you can follow one, and I'm gonna make them easy to work with each other. If your brake discs specialist, please don't text me saying you damage during you whip for wrong. It's just an example. Okay, so I'm gonna make is free 100 diameter. Okay, I'm gonna finish out sketch and now I'm going to extrude it. I'm going to make it 20. All right, well, let's make it 50. Okay, so that's see, that's the main part of our brightness. I'm gonna do another sketch, and I'm gonna slept this sketch, and I'm gonna do it on this top face about someone to have a strong I know something of a circle, slightly origin again unless time I'm gonna make it 1 50 Okay? And again, finish sketch on again. We're going to extrude. And this is the kind of work flow, but you'll get used to. Okay, so I'm gonna make this. Let's make it 45 okay? It's already those of you familiar with Britain lists was going to see this top part shape . Time to think so. What I won't do now is I want to create avoid in the back off the shape here. Okay? But it's not gonna be a vibe from this side. It's going to be avoid from this side. So how can I get this shape onto here? Well, we can do something. I will create a sketch on this backside of a plate here on what we can do. We can do something cold. If we go to that, it is here. So on the create we have project. Include. And if you slept, project Okay. Know what this will do? This will. At the moment, we only house We could only see objects that are on this actuals sketch Plainly selected, we select the back face of this plate. So we're going to see the outside damage because that's all. That's that Really? Okay, but if we select this project command, we can project items aren't necessarily on that plane, which again it's easier to show you. So if we now do I usual orbit, which is hold downshifted middle button. Well, we can see objects that aren't on our sketch plane. This is our sketch plane here. So these objects are kind of on the back that we couldn't see. We can now select um, using this project command so I could select that line there. Okay. And what it When it's done, it is projected. But on to our sketch, his corporate imagine someone shone a bright light from behind was bright enough to see from it. Kind of project shadow. That's what's got project. But what it's done. It's give us a line toe work. Okay, so I'm gonna Okay, that's And now and we can if we want to get flat on the sketch face again, Remember, we could just slip up. So now we have aligned to wit with Okay, I don't want to extra vis because that is the outside line. The subject. Hey, I want to come in Sigh 10 millimeters, so I'll select Offset. Offset allows to offset a line by a certain dimension in this case, 10 millimeters. Okay. And you can drug it if you want. If you want to change it. OK, now we slept 10. That's going to put it outside. What we can do, we can select this flip and you'll see it change it to minus 10. Minus 10 would have been a correct typing to get inside, But to be honest, if you don't remember and you just type of dementia, you can just select flip on. It will do it for you. Okay, so we convey no cave And now we have a line we can use so we can finish sketch and we can extrude this here. No, I want it. I don't want it to go away through. I want to. I want us to get another 10 millimeters off material here. That makes sense. Okay, So what I could do is I could work out what I've extruded so far. Think that was That was 15 was it? And then that was 40 or 45 so I could work out. But you don't need all you need to. Dio is say like we did before. The extent will be to an object. It's gonna be too there. Okay, but it's gonna be offset by minus 10 now. So what we've told it is to offset it. You still extrude it to this plane here minus 10 millimeters if we okay, but now we're going to get our exactly what we want it. Okay, hopefully what? Made sense, if not watch strap again. But hopefully you're following me there of Michael. Give us this kind of void we wanted with a 10 millimeter wall and floor off object. Okay? 27. 27 Brake Disc Model 02: So I break. This keeps getting. We'll put in our avoid here. So we'll do another sketch on this plane. I won't make that. Smith 60 diameter. Okay, finish sketch. And this one will actually be to object onto this plane here. And we want that as it cuts out. Okay, Now it's starting to look like a break This, But this wouldn't to be usable because you won't get it on because there's no holes. So let's use our putting commands. Let's make some holes here so we'll do a sketch on this face. Okay? I'm gonna create home. Just gonna hover over there just to get it on this line. Ongoing about these 20. Okay, I'm gonna dimension it from here just to constrain it in. What's going 50. I'm just gonna check up, So to make sure it's in the middle here, I'm going to project again. I'm gonna project no. Even movies. Lines were on natural sketch face have got the national included in the sketch unless you project them. Okay, so we'll project those two lines I convention. That's just double check out measurement. It was 45 so I commend offset. Don't worry about terrorism. It's a lot of time. And it's fusion. Tried to guess what you're going to doing getting wrong. So don't worry. About half of 45. 22.5 I'm going to click on I'm going to right click and make it a construction line. Okay? No, I'm going to use our constraints, and I'm going to make this circle coincident with that line. Okay, so I'm good. Remove this dimension I don't need I'm going to make this circle coincident with that line . I'm not so much better. We're doing it. Okay, so now we nervous is sitting in the middle of it. It's almost construction line. This is This is looking good. It's still blow because it doesn't know whereabouts is in terms of the angle here. Okay, what we could do to fully constrain it, which is good practice. That's correct. Another construction line which we know that we could make a circle coincident with this line. Okay, so now it's going block. Now it's it's set. I'm going to finish that sketch and I'm going toe extrude. I'm going to go two objects to this face here. Okay? I'm that we have Oh, so this is where the wheel stood would come through, okay? And we want five of those equally spaced services where we could use I was circular pattern . Okay, Well, slept about Boulder. All right, we'll split up feature. Okay. Oh, axes. We'll just split up circle there. I will have five of them. Okay, There you go. It's looking good. It's looking a lot like a breakfast. What I want to do just to make it look even more realistic. Lutz Sham fa the search here. Okay, let's just put five millimeters. Time would look better, so I'm gonna I'm gonna go with five, OK? I'm that is how you would make a break. This obviously these dimensions, you'd be given those or you'd measure them often existing one. But if you wanted to make a part like up to cental company, I'm not. Please don't start making your own break or Freedia printing your own brake discs. Vika, please don't do that. I'm an email. Anything you crashed, your car would be freely printed. Plastic. Break this. Don't even send them out to Maidan. Still just by them. But if you want a part that looked like this, this is always it will be to make a man. You could if you get access to the kind of machinery that could make these, that you can make them or send them out. But, yeah, I don't be making your own greatest house. That's only going away. But okay, so that's quite a nice example. That showed us a few techniques that we view that we've learned over the last few chapters and also some new things like Project. And it's shown you the general workflow and how easy it is to create an object like So it's good to do a bit of modeling in between learning, and that's a nice little project, so there we go. 28. 28 PressPull: Okay, so now we've done some modeling. We're gonna go back to the learning. Now, we're gonna look at these modify commands here. We've used some of them like Philip and Sham for but first in very good commands ever. It can save you a lot of time. OK, so in general, we've looked at how to create objects. And when we've modified, apart from the Philipson Shumpert's, we've gone back to the original creation and change something. It might have been a diameter that we originally used. If we wanted to change the size of these whole studs, for instance, because these were based on one cutout with a pattern, we could go back to the original on. We could change that. And by the way, I could have used a whole command here. It's just the way I did it, but I could have easily used a whole command. And on a sketch of some dots, it would have been exactly the same. So, yeah, if we wanted to change these go but original and change your size, Andre would old change. But what if we only wanted to change one of them? What if somebody came along says. Well, actually, this one here is slightly bigger for some reason. Well, does a command here called principal and this is something when you when you start using this, you'll use over time. It's such a simple command in terms of the options, but it's great for what it does. So we'll select that and you can see already. I mean the options you get. Select. That's it. Really. So immediately it's asking you for a face on what it will do. It will let you slept pretty much any face. It could be the circular object at convene side of this whole inside about one. This face here, this Shumpert edge anything. We select his face at the top. Okay, we have a couple more, but we get his arrow, which you've seen before when we've create things. If we can we pull this are I know it. It will actually let us move its face, okay. And you'll see it gives you the ability to change. In effect, we change this office that here that we created. But it's just a nisi way of doing it afterwards, and you can type in your dimension here. Okay, so Maybe that changed the way to you can tap it in, and you can change it again. We forget about random areas that come up. I may go. So if you could change about that now, you might ask, why would you do it that way? Rather going back to the original extrusion and changing it well again. The example was going to use What if you just wanted to change one of these holes? If you went back and change the size because it's a pattern, it would change them all. But with press pool, you could just slip the inside of that hole, okay? And you could change it. Now it's important to remember. It's not asking you for the diameter of this goods out here. Okay? It's asking you how much do you want to change it by? So if this was changing to be a 50 damage, the whole you wouldn't write 50 mil, you would. You would have to know what it is at the moment. I can't remember, but let's just say wanted to change it by 10. So it wants to go that way so it will be minus. Well, let's say five cause it's not quite. There you go. So that would let you do it. And it's down here in your history so you would have your original creation of your pattern . But then you've got this one being changed, and you could go and you could edit that. Or you could delete it if you wanted to put it back. So this press pool command, you can even change things like Shumpert edges. Okay, again, you might be asking. Why wouldn't you just change the shop for Well, in this case, we've only got one edge. If we was to just for the sake of, if we was, if we had Shumpert this edge on message, okay? By two millimeters, okay. I mean, we just wanted to change something here. We could use the press to bulk amount just on that sham footage so you can use on Shumpert on again. You could just change original jumper. But sometimes when you've done lots of work and you've got lots of different edges, you just want to change one single object very easily. This press full command could be great, and it makes model it on the fly so much easier because you could just full things around. One finger would say about it. If you have a complex assembler and you use it a lot than in your history, when it comes to actually changing something, it can get a bit confusing us toe where if I if I wanted to change the damn it, I might go back to the original and it's different. And then you you have all these kind of press pull things in your history, and you need to try and work out which we so do. Go back to the original if you can. If it's something that, for instance, if all these holes have changed emitter I would go back to the original, you wouldn't press pull them all and try and get them. Also use it. I'd say sparingly, but do make use of it because it's a great command. Okay, so that's press pool 29. 29 Shell: So I'm going to start a new zone here. I want to show you this Shell Command. So let's just do a very simple sketch here. Uh, let's make just a box. I'm just gonna make 100 by 100 bucks, OK? But I'm gonna extrude it by one year. So we've got a big queue. Simple. What if it was actually a box as in a container? To put things in Likas, grab a know something like that? Well, you could do a sketch on the top. Well, you could just do a rectangle, make it 80 80. And when you have 10 millimeter thick walls, Okay. If you finish that on, you extrude it down, and then you could do okay. I want to go to, but objects minus time. Okay, I'm not would create your container. There is another way. Forget. Oh, go back to our following about sketch. We're just gonna go back to this box. This shell command will pretty much hollow something out. I say you can think of your hollowing out the middle of something, so it's like it was going to ask for a face or a body. So this is if you think of the fate. If you was to dig the middle of this out, where do you want to dig it from? In the world. So it's like that face the inside thickness of a 50 civil wall. 10 millimeters. Now. Ago. Okay, now, very some options yet, but generally, that's what you would use it for. Is the whole out one object. And if we have wanted this to be hello over, way through when we could just slept both faces. What up? And because of selected both faces, it was hollow hollow out completely. Okay. No, it's something like this square again Would have been much different. Really? Doing it as a sketch on, I would have been tempted to it that way where this is very good is in more complex objects . So outskirts when you design And if you remember, I'm going to do something. We've already looked up. Which was this? Okay, this revolve command. Remember what we did be don above a vast. So maybe this was a big kind of Ah, we can use our shell command. So let's face, we're going there with thickness. Um, one millimeter. Okay. And now a Zach actually hollowed out the middle of this complex shape. So you've got an empty container. If you're doing any kind of revolve and this is what you want, don't let me just don't try and draw the thickness of the wall in here and just revolve the outer skin. Just hello out like that. Okay, just draw as a solid. I'm in use with Shell. Come on. So that's that's where generally I used this most. It's when I've got a complex object that I want to be hollowed out like that, and that's the Shell command. 30. 30 More Modify Tools: Okay, I'm gonna show you more of these modified tools. Now, I'm just going to create a very quick, um, Cube here. This disc 100 by 100. I'm gonna extremist by 100. Okay, We'll look at some more of these modified tools. We have quite a few down here. Some of them you'll hardly ever use some of them. It depends what you do. Really. Um, let's have a look. We've looked at shell. Let's look at his draft till. Okay, So what was draft old does it. If you want to angle one of these faces, James, the shape of this, you can use draft again. It's easier to show you and try and explain it. So it's going to ask for a plane, okay? And it's going to ask for a face to use. Now, if I just show you how this works, it will make sense. What? It what it does. It angles one of these faces and it asks you to select two of them. So the face I'm applying, the easiest way to think about is to think about the hinge of way it will be angled. And if you see how it works, it will make sense so you can angle that face. Okay, So when you select you to faces, you want to be selecting them around the change. That's the best way to think about it. On complex shapes, it can get a bit confusing what you're actually selecting. So think about that hinge line being between the faces you selected. Okay? I'm as different options. Depending how you do it, you can type in your uncle hair. So if you wanted it 45 degrees, you could just type line. Okay, you could do the direction, but, um, yeah, it's one of them commands. I very rarely use it myself. I know some people do like it. I tend to do something nice with a almost get yourself, but they go. That's how you use it. It may come in handy. It may know that draft command. Okay, So scale now, scale is what you would think. You will select the whole object. And if you wanted to make this half the size and you can just make if you just typing point fire and it will scale the object uniformly, okay, so you don't have to change change change settings. And if it's a very complex thing, you might have passed sticking out here. They're shampoos. It will just scare the whole thing Completely uniform. Just sitting here, um, non uniform. So it maybe you just wanted to scale it in one direction so you could just scale it down there because of the shape of years. It looks like I'm just kind of extruding it back or something. But if you are to still into sticking out pipe, it would actually scale it. Okay? And you'll see. In that view, it's Actually it's not just cutting, it's not extreme. It's actually scaling it. Okay, so again, there are times when it will be a lifesaver. On it is one of those commands. You use it, really, But when you need it, you do need a lot of the time. I use it when I'm free D. Printing on my my light wants us to scale something down. So a comm printed and some objects have drawn full size. You might want something that's a scale of 1 to 10 and you can scale it down. So that's the way I use it. Yeah, but that's it is very simple. Just get out. Scale command. So combined. Now these are what? With this, I'll come back to these, actually, do it. Separate these so offset face. Right? I'm gonna do it. A simple sketch on here. Andi, it's going to be its director. Go. I'm going to do again. I'm not I'm not gonna constraints on. No, I said you should always contributes. Is just as an example. So I don't need to do a lot, okay? And I'm going to Okay, so say let's say you had a quite complex kind of shaped, like about on your drawing and you wanted this edge is complete edge to move down. If you did, press poll, press pool just worked with one face at a time, so it would select one of these. Okay, so if you tried to slip more money, it's not gonna work for you. You want If you want to keep the same shape and move it when you use what se is is offset face. Okay, So you slept it And you slept all the spices and you'll see this blue arrow comes onion. He stays generally the easy. Think there's keep it on the last, um, face you select. So if, for instance, I selected these two, that one I'm in this one last the arrow will be wanted to pull it in that they're actually shut up once I could shift, select one. Select those two. Make sure one perpendicular to direct. You want to move, you select Last. Okay. I mean, now what you could do, You could just puller and you can drag that face and you could see it keeps the same shape . Yeah, No, it's making this cutout smaller just because that's how it's scaling it. But you see, it gives you a bit more control over a complete face and pushed pulled us. So you off your offset to that faith. And that's why it's maker, Smalley, not moving my face, your offset in it like you would office that line. We do have move and you can move for faces so he could select those. And you can move it like Okay, so I just want to run for these ones that you don't use much just in the same gonna chapter , because they don't really worry chapter for themselves replace face. So let's say we have the sketch here. Um, just a very quick extrusion Extrude this out this whole shape. But why you say instantly automatically when you extrude for another? A few from things you're going to cook, but you don't have to. You can select new border. Okay, so if drama no replace face, I actually want that face. Okay? It's very from my own. I'm not sort Replaced facial. It will move the face. He slipped down to another faith. Now that movies, because that was the internal bit was separate. If I am Joe, you see, it moved that face onto that one. And it left that moment where it waas I could slitting both and it would dio Okay, again it comes in Hyundai sometimes split face fight under. So what split face will do? It will If I select this I'm not splitting towards up. Okay, now what you can see it's happened here is before we address is one face. Now it's separate faces. So you could extrude that face now separately. Maybe you wanted to push it back to the okay so you could split up face in order to manipulate liner. That's that's what split face does split body. It works the same, but it applies to the whole body. So the body to split. I want to split up on splitting tool again. Will use. Uh okay, I'm gonna Okay. So split, buddy. The body to split. Is that one split in tour? It's gonna be about facer you. Could you give us good to play? Okay, now these bodies are separate. We have a moment you can see when we click on object it. Select in the face. Sometimes you want to select the whole body, okay? And you can shave up in the selection toe, which is a fair select, so selection for hours. Okay, so it sets a slight faces, you could slip body. Now, you'll see when you click it select in the body of the object body Means that means the whole thing. So, you know, this will be one body. Where is up? Before when it was like to set to face priority, it was selecting faces. Okay, so that that's kind of a nephew of us over modify titles. We're gonna look a some of those big ones we use my will look a bit more in debt for ever ones like I say you'll use from every now and then. But when with May I needed very I've ever lifestyle, okay? 31. 31 Move Copy: Okay, so now we're gonna look at the move. Copy, Command. Andi, I'm going, Teoh, I'm going to do again. I'm just gonna do a very basic Q 100. 100 from a sketch and 100. Okay, so we have a cute no other Purvis. Move! Coffee. Andi, we can select. There's no weaken. Select the body. Full object What His face is. Okay, let's start looking at bodies first. So this free move here. It's kind of an only one manipulator. This might be familiar with you if you come in from other pieces suffer. But generally you've got move scale and wrote a all in one control. If you get used to work with us, if you're doing a lot of moving about skill and it can be, um it can be useful if you don't know what different things you won't go. Generally, I like to keep it separate. Whatever I'm doing, so I tend to use reasons These also give you a copy. A copy option. So let's just have a look. So we've got bodies selection. We've selected one body. We want to. If you move any calls, it translate. OK, that's just a terminal suffer uses, translate. And then you can use these arrows to set the direction. If you get lost a bit on what's X distance? Why? Distance said distant, easy thing to do is select the arrow in the direction you want to move it. I mean, just see which one of these changes. Okay, I'm that old kind of give you your closed away won't I mean, you can type you distance if you wanted to move it. 100. Uh, and it's a mouth. So at the moment we're moving this object around, okay? Using these arrows in the three different directions, if you wanted to copy it when you just slip this box. And now, when you move it, it's going to leave the original where it waas, and it's gonna create a copy. Okay. Rotate works in pretty much the same way. Let me start again with that one. So will select bodies. Rotate this one here. Okay. He's going to ask for an axe. Is it? Is it accedes to know where you rotating it around. So? So this one, we'll get his option to rotate and weaken, typing an angle here, and you can create a copy to leave the original where it waas? Okay, now we also have point to point. So if you know, if you want to do it from a point, you can just say Ok, well, the origin point of that, I won't to Now be there on it will move up. Okay, up there to that point. OK, so let's just look at the face command. We can select the face on waking Move those faces. Now, this is a lot like other commands of scenes, which is press poll, Andi even doing extrusion of things. And it is just doing the same thing. It's just an easier way if you like that. But I won't do anything because you've got this face. Okay, so it is an easier way if you like off off manipulating a face again, attentions press public from doing miss it. It's just easier to work with. So as this move copy commits a manipulation tool on, it just does what it does want to get used to using it. I generally is it for copying things bother moving things. Okay, a line. So just spin this around. Let's say we wanted this block to be in line with that. We want that face to be in line with that face. Okay? Sort of trying to measure it on. Move it. We could just say Okay, move this whole body, This one. I want that face to be aligned with that face. And there you go. It does it for you. He's a So that's I kind of moving the line, doing well to these obvious 32. 32 Boolean: Okay, so in the last bit was modify section. We're gonna look what known as Boolean operations Fusion doesn't actually call them that, but this is you never Freedy software. This is it. That's what they're known as these kind of a traditional Freedy editing mode. So again, I'm going to do my Basic Cube of 100 by 100. Okay, Fire 100. Andi, I'm also going to good for a new plane. I know. Just officer explain. Uh Okay, So that was one of these new user work planes. Just officer. Just a random distance sixties. Fine. Because so much show you how these work. So again, you don't need to be following along if you don't want. Sometimes it is best. Just sit back and watch because I'm just tragic give you an understanding of how these work . Okay? It's up to you if you want to, right. I'm gonna you see when have extra Davis automatically, citizen took turnover object. You automatically thinks you're going to cut it, but I want to create a new body. Okay, uh, so now in our model and make sure you have this selection priority set to the deeper It's if you are following him. So Okay, so we have two bodies in this model. Andi, That's a clash of each other here. That might have happened on purpose. It might have happened if you've done more complex model and you've done some measurements and then you realize actually, these two parts will clash. That does happen a lot when you kind of modeling on the fly. If you're designing something, you can actually make it happen on purpose for the reasons I sure now, So what do I want to do? Well, looking at this, you would have a couple of options here. You could make this on this body. All one object and it could be manufactured is one object. If it's gonna sit like that anyway, then just make it one solid object. Okay? Maybe it needs to be two separate pieces forever. Reason so you could create a good out in this object you could create cuts out, and then this one could just sit in there or you could create with Qatar in my subject on this one could sit in there. You could do it that way. Okay. Or maybe the reason for Joran. This object was a concern itself. You just want the shape cuts out the object. You don't need the subject. You have. Always Things could happen. That could be it could be What's going on? So well, this is where you would use these Boolean operations, which I'll show you now. So is traditionally 1,000,000,000 has a few different things. Like unions of checks come by infusion. It just comes. All comes under this combined. Come on. Okay. I mean, you get the options in here to change it, so we're going to sweat both for bodies, okay? And now we get the options here. So if you wanted to make this all one part you just you. But it is joint. Okay, on you could. It's like that is a whole new component. Or it could take the form of one of these composed. Just gonna leave that for now. We're gonna press, OK? And now you can see when you click it when you select it. It is one component. Okay, if we let's travel again and this time I'm going to do cooked. Okay? So when we did join, we out. If you look at these it is asking to slip both objects, but one of them is calling a target. But it on one of them, it's call him a tool body on the joint option. That's not important, because the joint, But when it comes to the adoption, it does become important. The target body will be the body you want to perform the operation on. I'm a tool body. Could be fathers were cutting tool. That makes sense. Okay, so if we just do that again and slipped them the other way around So a target party, that one. I'm a total body. Is that on? It's a cooked. You'll see. We can use this body shape to cook that's locked out. Okay. And if we had to selected from me of a way round, it would have been that cut out in there. And if we okay that now, this will disappear because we've used it as a cutting tool. But we've got this void. What's being cut out to those dimensions? Okay. And what you can do? Let's suppose Let me just show you the eruption like so target. So Miss one is gonna bay intersect. Okay, So what intersect will do is it will just keep the bet that is being overlapped by both objects. Does that make sense? So we show you again when we used to meet each other. The only business intersecting is this Cuban side accent. So when used, the Intersect you for whatever reason, it might be. Just want to keep up it. Okay? And that sounds like something you never want to believe me. It is just going handy sometimes. What I tend to do with this command is if I wanted to use the cooked. Okay, So I wanted wrapped up. And I wanted they wanted this could turn here. But I still wanted this subject or one of the subjects of salt into there and miss to be cooked too much. And I think that's a main. It's certainly the main type. The most usual time for me to use these 1,000,000,000 operations. So what I would do is go to an object, right? Click. I meant copy it. Okay. And right click on placed it. And what that has done. Now what? That was Actually it's duplicated it. There's two of these objects on top of each other. Now, if I was to go move. Just let when you conceive of one's. Okay, So now when you go to this option, and so it cooked, you can select both objects when you okay is deleted One object, then use it as a cutting tool. But we have one still there. So you've got a very nice kind of interference fit between two objects. So that's one way I use this and also use them to combine objects as well. You do a lot. You ever won the Intersect? Yeah, that is a much, but sometimes again like of a command. It's a rare want to use, but it can be a lifesaver and depending what industry and some industries use these commands. Marvin of us all depends what you're gonna be doing. But that's your boolean operations. And if you go to another piece of freely suffer, you probably see these labeled as Boolean Fusion. Doesn't seem to call them that. That's what they are. Okay, 33. 33 Materials: right. So we've almost done with part modeling now, But before we move onto assemblies, I want to show you the material section. Okay, so this is something people like to use because it makes your objects look a lot more realistic. But there is a difference between make room look realistic and making them act realistically. Okay, so that's what we're going to talk about now if we just click our object and it should all select again, if it doesn't good to selection, broke priorities, that body priority, you could see which when you're on, because it'll take their I'm right click. And you will see that you have these two options here. Physical material and appearance. Okay, so let's click on physical material. And if you don't see anything happen, it may be the menu camp in its hidden here. Casey can just click on it and it will come out and you'll see you have a library. You can go to the fusion free 60 material library. Okay. Under there, we have all these options of different types of materials. Fritsch, folders of ceramics, fabrics, glasses, metals would such a if we go toe would and swirled. You'll see you get different types of woods. Okay, Some just shows this. Don't worry about it. But maybe the object you doing. You know what you got type? What is maybe is a walnut, okay? Or it could be something else for this demonstration. We're going to select Walnut if you just click it. You see you get I'll go over to get this hand object his hand icon. So if you left, click and hold it down, you commend Drug it over your object and you'll see your object highlights if you then just let go and drop it on the object. The object it takes on the material. OK, so this now is a walnut. Do you? When we could have used something else. If we wanted, we could have may be used metal. Maybe it waas Maybe it was gold. Okay. No, this gold here How this looks looks quite good once you drop it on its very, very disappointed It just becomes this golden yellow color. OK, but don't don't worry about for no us. It's giving you a representation in this. This is our design space, so we don't want to slow down by, um, always photo. Realistic looking stuff we want to know from a representation of this is gold just by this color. But if it was to actually be shown photo realistic gold, we would never get anything done because the stuff I would run so slow. So don't expect photo realism in this modeling section. We could look at that later on when it comes to rendering out things. Okay, So materials you can choose a material to put your object on. But if you remember, we had physical materials and we had another option. Uh, just comes along that we have another option a parents if we slept. The parents, you'll see, is pretty much the same. Um, that gives you the same options, basically, So you could put on my that was just transparent glass. That problem wasn't that good. A let's make it would again. So Well, let's make it will not again. So you could say it was exactly the same appearance and physical materials. But the difference is, and if I go to again you you don't need do is I'm just showing you if I go to manage materials which you can do in the tools utility ankle. If we get out of this world Andi Walnuts Okay, and double click it. So you get some information about it. You get me a parents, your parents is How does it look? OK, and it will tell you how it looks and you can change all of these things. You could change your parents of it. It could change how reflective it is. Translucency, all that kind of stuff. I would say Leave it as is for these save materials. Just leave him is there. But you also get a stop here. Physical. Now you've got advance and you got basic. Let's just look at the basic properties we have. All this information is the name description that's fairly self explanatory. But then we have basic thermal specific heat thermal expansion coefficient, firm algo conductivity, and you'll see they're all given settings mechanical properties, the density of a damping coefficient. Young's modules. If you don't have a clue what I'm talking about, what any of these are? Don't worry about it. Okay? This isn't an engineering course. It's the software cost. You don't need to change. He's on nobody's. You could just leave them as they are. But the reason this information is in if you were to make an object out of walnut and this isn't just a fusion for Mrs for all these guys kind of suffering inventor solid works are lost. The software can do inspections, and it can tell you will. This has got a weak spot. This is gonna break first at this point, How can it know that? Well, it because it knows all this mechanical detail off the specific material. So this comes with the software. This has all been putting the standard materials, symphonies, glass. It knows where house stronger is. It knows all this kind of elasticity and how far it can bend before breaking. All that stuff is built into the material. So if you're doing simulations and not just how it will break, it can do things for thermal. It can say how how much heat it can retain. Not going to think it's very advanced stuff all that it's not really part of its cross. This is a uses a software uses, got not mechanical engineering Course. If you give him this info, you can put it in. If you arm mechanical engineer. You can go away and learn more about listen about the simulations and things Most people use this software, especially things that freely print, and you don't need to know that. But what I am trying to show you is the difference between appearance and physical appearance. If so, if this was made to appear well, no, it would just look like walnut, but it would still just be a It wouldn't have any of this physical stiff. It was coming to it. Okay, if it's been given a physical material, it's got all this, and it could be used for simulations. So when you go find slightly object physical material, so that's given an actual material you can use with all that information parents that's just making it look like something. So why wouldn't you just use physical material? Well, it might be. Want something? It's half a physical materials of walnut, but look read because it's Patties walnut that's been painted red or coated in something red if it makes sense. So that's why you have the two different options. You want to do simulations on something cause it's made out of glass that that glass has been painted. Okay, so that's why you have the two different options. You can upset the physical material and you consider the appearance on various things like the texture map again, that's that's not really part of this course. This is just a get your from running fusion. So you combine. Once you know how to use fusion, you come and go away and learn all this advanced off yourself. OK, But that is the difference between physical materials. Andi parents 34. 34 Assemblies Components and Bodies: Okay, so it's time now to move on to Marvin. Just simple parts. And we're going to look at creating actual assemblies now, before we give up some things we just need to understand about the filing system infusion. So I just want to show, if you again, Mrs something just toe sit back on what, Dr. And trying to follow along. It's quite apartment. You understand how the system works in terms of how it saves and shares or fails that will make assembly. Okay, so some of you will become him from something light inventor or solid works. Andi, if you're not, if you totally new, you stepping up from tinker cattle, something like that. Just bear with me here. But it's a black inventor or solid works. You will have different files saved on your computer for each part. When you create an assembly will then pulling all those files, his parts and they together we'll go into an assembly file, which, and that assembly file all it's basically doing is pulling in a different part files from wherever they're saved on your computer. You know what that means is if you give someone an assembly for instance, you need to make sure that all those separate files are together, because if they don't have a part file a particular part for, that's not going to load up a must. That's where you can get not so much problems, because if he if you work in my environment, you get used to working like that. But that's where something like fusion, which is based online it wouldn't really work as well. So what fusion does, mrs of how it's I know what I I moved to fusion from Inventor Mrs Something I found strange at first, Um, it saves everything into the same fail. Okay, So whereas we've invented your start designing the various parts, saving them as fails, make all your different parts and then creating assembly and bring those in with fusion, you kind of think of it was working me of a way around you creating your assembly from the beginning and creating all your part files within that same file. Okay, so it's all looked after here, Miss browser on my left, inside and at the very top, you'll have your main project. So this is your overall project that your designer okay, on undervalue love. Any subassemblies and part files in this kind of hierarchy here? No, I'm gonna do I'm gonna show you fusions, inbuilt kind of sample files that uses. And you could get at any time you can go to this show. Day to panel. Okay, on. You should get something like this. A missile show kind of all your projects as demos. That was also samples that come with software. Um, is libraries and all sorts of things. Now, if you if you go down to this, will design samples, okay? DoubleClick, I was wanting heckled bike frame. If you click on that, I'm like that. Load up your machine. Okay, You can close up. No, this is as the name would suggest, a bicycle frame and it's been modeled infusion. So this gives you an idea of some kind of things you can dio. If you see this suspension here, you can actually hold down the left foot, grab something and move it like that so you could see how this assemblies made to move in real life. Okay, I kind of get you Not a day of for the kind of infusion is capable off and This is a typical, um, use a fusion. Something like this. Okay, but what I want to show you is down the left. Inside. You'll see now at the top. We have bike frame, the will. Probably version one. Okay, so that is the overall project, Miss Symbol. Hey, this is your main assembly. Okay? So that because everything now under here we have these cities cube symbols, surveys are components. Okay, which means this bike frame is made up of all these different components. So that's fairly simple. The difference between assemblies and components, It's like assembly in parts and some flunk inventors is the assembly is the whole complete projects, If you like off the top assembly under here, we have the components, and together, those components make up the main assembly. But you can also have subassemblies. So it it might have been, But this spring Yeah, it's piston. On this spring, they could have been saved, doesn't it? An assembly called suspension. In this case, they're all just putting his individual parts. But you could have a sub assembly secret off parts. Maybe maybe five parts could have been saved in assembly. I'm not assembly. Could have been saved inside this assembly so you could actually have a hierarchy. Could have a whole load of assemblies within assemblies of in assemblies. And in those assemblies, we're components. Okay, so that's fairly simple. The difference from assemblies and components. It's fairly self explanatory. The the area where people struggle is the difference between bodies on components. Okay, so we've looked at bodies, have been using bodies as would be modeling. Our parts are components, Andi. The difference is a body would be fought off as an item, if you like what makes up a component? Okay, so let's look at this. Let's look is component here. We've got a swing arm, Weltman. So that's this part of the frame heavy arm. But that is a component in itself called swing arm. So that might have been the manufacture of this bike frame. Might have these arms supplied to him from another part of a factory or maybe a different company, and they welded together. So that comes one piece. So, in terms of his part file, if he makes a list of parts or he gives out, maybe some graphical instructions or something like this is one part. Okay? The customer is never going to get this in pieces because it has to be welded together. So this is one part. But in terms of how this was made originally before it's welded together, it's made up of different bodies. Okay, so if we click on these a mistaken see, by the way you can drill down. You miss four. This arrow here under very component. You can see how it's broken down into sketches and bodies and also so under bodies we can see if we just hover over, it will highlight and you'll see this highlights. Here we have a dropout. Do you really? Uh, OK, we have dropout break and then we've got body 27 But it so all these of a separate bodies, the model individually, which together make up this component. Okay, But you want to keep things as individual component because that's how they will be. That's although, if you like that, this idea is a good way of getting your head right now it works. You'll never if you'll never be supplied as a customer with these individual passed because of welded together so they make up one component but how? This component was made both in real life and infusion. It was made with different bodies. Okay, Andi, you might want to keep those is separate bodies. So you can if you like, bring us out and do a design felt to give to the manufacturers making his component of the original bodies. Okay, so that is where a lot of people kind of struggle It is again. Assemblies and components. Fairly self explanatory, but components on bodies. Yeah. You just need to think of it as the component is an actual part. You write me, like, give someone okay? Where his bodies is more about how that part is made. It's made. You got a cylindrical bar that you block Merrill bodies, which together make that component. Okay, so I just wanted to show you that again. If you don't quite get it with a lot of these things, you will. Just by using it, it will become self explanatory. And it's it's probably sounds more complicated to explain it, but it is just getting used to it. So let's look at never see if good service here. This is a component Mrs Frame. Okay, so this is a mainframe we can see just by looking at it. But it's not one body that you've got this kind of yellow outside tube. It has these silver kind of inserts. And again, they would probably could If you would go out and buy this, they would come with it. You can tell just by looking at it, but but not made of the same out the same piece of metal, if you like. So the frame you would go bodies say Right. Well, we've got I got the mount here. Okay? We've got a space in the middle. We've got a pivot bracket bracket. Okay? Yeah. So you could say it's different color. It comes with the frame. So it's part of a frame component, but it's a separate individual piece, if you like. So we've got this mount body here. Seat tube. Okay. I mean, you've got a carbon layup, which will be the yellow on the outside. And those bodies together make a component cold frame. I'm the component called frame. It's in the assembly gold bike frame, but okay, so that's components, assemblies and bodies again. You can even watch this back if you don't quite get it all. Just if the idea is half formed the new brain, just go with it on. It will become clear as you use them. Okay, so now we're going to start looking at creating assemblies and putting them together. 35. 35 Starting Correctly: Okay, So one thing we need to be aware off before we start this is just something is good practice. Really, Andi, you'll see a lot of people actually do this now, just so you understand. Why would I'm gonna Let's just create a quick, um, quick objects here again. We're just just rectangle and I'm just extremely out. You don't have to follow along head. This is just to show you in principle what I'm doing now you'll see have created this body , which I want to be a component. Okay. You know, browser. We have this one component here called unsaved. This is kind of how fusion starts off, but this whole idea of top down assembly where we start an assembly from a beginning and then put individual components in it it's not really doing that because there's only one component. It's just showing it as a component at the moment. What I actually want to show up here is an assembly, the whole project to be an assembly, and for this to be a component inside, Okay, because we've only got one. This is just the way fusion does it. Really, But it does mean that if you then let me go assemble. If I create a new component, okay? And I'll call this Well, I'm gonna cause component to Okay on in here. Chris, Sketch. Andi, this group is so India. Okay. Welder. Just to get out. What was going to move it? He's a move command. Okay, so what we have now we have this component which is component to and the dot means it's activated so it can see it. The fact that Okay, then we have what I want to bay component will. So the block should be component one pursuant. A component to but what it's actually done because of the way fusion starts, it's made. They saw a whole assembly. And this cube here is actually just a body within Miss Assembly. Okay, now we can fix that. We could right click the body. We could go to create components from body. Okay. And now you can see we have on its to his renowned that too Component war. Okay, you know. Okay, Andi, you could say we have component to component one. I may also justifies how I want to any If you notice, this icon has also changed to an assembly, and I can now. Well, when I say this house test assembly zero woman, you can see it changes. So this is the kind of lab that I want. File layout one. We've got assembly and our assembly name. We've got components, we got complete one. And any components I have now Will will go under here inside this test assembly, and that's correct. But how it started was a bit strange if I go on under you, we had this body. This this cube was actually a body, not a component. Okay, I must just a fusion thing. There is reason behind it, but for the most part, you don't is a bit of a funny way of going about getting your components under and assembly . So if I just create, I'll start again. I start new foul. For that reason, what I always do before I do anything else is I go to new component and you can just leave it component when you can always rename these straits away. Now that has given us our loud we That is more useful tools. We have our assembly. So when we say this, I was just it was just too. So we have our assembly of the correct name and even where everything is blank withdrawing from yet with, we're here now, ready to start our first component. Rather not funny, loud head with the body not being quite a component of it just is good practice, really to start off like this, it makes your life easier. So I recommend that again. If you forget, are you don't do that. It's not a big issue. It is just It's a strange way of going about getting to the same place, and this just makes it easier to follow along. So we'll be doing this from now on, a Muppet Butts for reason behind it. 36. 36 Workbench 01: Okay, so let's make our first assembly now on. This is really something that a lot of people do is a bit of a test. What people like to actually build on that is a work bench for our workshop. So we're going to design a workbench, and it's gonna be in wood. You could use the same principles to do when a metal if you if? Well, things you think it works exactly the same. It's better next size. Just show us how we use assemblies and put things together. So that's up to you. What? You met him out of this one's gonna be word if you want to follow along with Major. So first things first. As it may have a chapter. I'm going to go new component on how much you're gonna call us. I know what I'm gonna make. First, I'm gonna call his leg 01 Okay, I'm gonna press. OK, so now we've got an assembly here. I can say this as work. Actually, workbench would. Is there one okay? And I'm upset. I'm just gonna change this name. Actually. Gonna put this as, like, long one, and you'll see why there we go. So now I'm going to go to sketch on this workbench is going to be on the frame of it is gonna be made out of wood that is going to be 75 by 35 as you would most with time, you use the same sighs sexual, avoid your problem by a few lengths of it and cut it up. So you want to be using the same section. So I'm going toe presume I've got a load of 75 millimeter by 35 millimeter would laying around. And that's what I'm going to use for my word if you actually do it, Mr. Design your own workbench and use dimensions, whatever you've got. But you might have to adjust mother sizes to suit. So just perverted mind. We're gonna finish that so that self profile on I'm gonna extrude it. Our leg is gonna be quite so also, I mean, it is 900. All right, so the leg, I mean, I want to I'm gonna change a physical material now. I'm not gonna do any kind of simulation, so it could just I could have just changes to be appearance. But why not? I'm gonna change a physical material. OK, um so physical material, Andi, sometimes, like, I've just done you press something. You think? Well, nothing's happened. It doesn't work. Fusion has a habit of hiding your menus. So what it's done is brought up? Because I had it before when it was up. When I've pressed it again, all its studies bring this, and it's easily to miss it. It's easy to miss it. So it did come up and there is. So I'm gonna go with what guy? But I'm going Teoh use I'm skimming is a spoke. Okay, there we go. So it's my but my leg. A massive joke. Now, the way I want to build this order it to be quite strong and ever Evan actual actually built about five of these in real life. So I know over design amusing. Andi, I need some more pieces, which will obviously because the same size sexual would So ravin sketch and extrude every time. What I could do I could just you this if I make a copy of this, I can just change the length to whatever lengths I want every time. Okay. Okay. So how can I get this. Well, what I'm trying to do here is this menu again and again. You will eventually get your head into what how this menu works. But at the moment I'm trying to have copied a component, trying to paste it into my components. It's kind of getting a bit confused. What I need to do is now have copied this component. I need to make sure, but I mean our assembly. Okay, if I right click on the assembly and faced, then you'll see what happened. It brings in another component, which is what I wanted and straight away get this mythical. And that's because it's brought in in exactly the same place. So it's over the top of everyone. So you just I could just shift it out the way like I'm there we go, Andi, it's asking for it exactly. So oppressed return. So now you can see what's happening. Dumb what I wanted, which is to give May another component. Okay, when I was copied in place and I was trying to paste it in component is that a component? Much weight? It didn't really like it, and you could say one of them is hello. And one of them is filled that it's just the active form. Whichever's got the dot on it, it's field. If you want to see them both, you can just go to assembly and you'll see them both. OK, so now we've got leg long 01 And if you cook it, it will show you which one that is, unlike long zero. So Well, I'm going to call this change the name of that. I'm gonna change it to leg lower. Syria one. Okay. And now I want to change the size of this. This is going to be about is going to be, let's say free 100. Okay, off the ground. So it needs to be free. 100 high. So how do we do that? Well, I could go to principal. Okay? And it's 900 So if I put that down, I can You can see that I mentioned there is free 100. But wait a minute. Both these components are changing. Okay? Us? No. What? I wanted it all. Okay. If I try the other one, you'll see of changing. It's not what I just want Change one. Why is that? Well, it goes back to when I pasted it in infusion under never suffer as well. You have copies, and you have instances on with these differences, so you might want to duplicate an item, and eventually we will if you have a table. If these were just normal legs and this was our legs, our table might need four legs. Would want those to be exactly the same on any change were made to one would want to affect the other. That would be, um, paste. Okay, so that would be a direct copy or another instance of the same item. Okay, so you might job one leg and have four instances of that. Like and every time you change one leg, you want them all to change. And that's basically what we've done here. And we did about when we right quick and we put paste. Okay, So do it again. I'm we right click again. Just I'm just OK, We right click again placed So that would be our fall X and anything you did toe one of them, it would have felt at all which a lot of time. That's exactly what I want. And that's how you do it okay, But we miss case. We we just wanted to use that because it's the same size would It's the same section we wanted to you copy it, paste it, but then be able to read it independently. Well, to do that, you need to goto paste new, okay? And it looks like you've done the same thing. You need to move out away. But now, if we had it, this you will see it's only changing that one. I'm these are unaffected. So that's how do. And that is differently in a copy and an instance. And so you need to make sure if that's what you want, you do pace new. Okay, I'm just gonna get I'm just gonna go back, actually gonna go back to, uh Okay, so we've we've done our first, like with extruded it. Okay. Um, actually, it's good 37. 37 Workbench 02: but more ago. So I'm going to copy this as we did before. I'm going to go to our assembly, and I'm going to paste a new I'm gonna move that, uh, just go away, okay? I'm just gonna slept the whole of the assembly, so receiving both. And now I want to change this to be free 100. Okay, I never go. And then I'm going to copy this one. I'm gonna highlight similar. I'm gonna faced new And I want this one to bay for 50 and you'll see why for 57. But that would go. So now we have our like long 01 this I want to change the name to be, like, lower well on this one to be like hope is, everyone go. So I want these sections, these sections in here. So I want these parts here to bay fixed on the back of his like and why I'm doing that will make sense later when you see the construction as we build it. But for now, what I want to do is I want to join. So in real life, this this will be glued and then screwed this face here onto that face there with the bottoms flush. Okay, so now we get onto our assembly command on our joint command. So in order to stick things together infusion, you go to join. If you If you coming from inventor, it's like constrains. But you do have joints. No inventor, actually, but, yes, it is joint here. So it will. We get a some components of being moved. Right? So this is something that's new towards this put position and capturing position. Well, look at that again. But for now, it's good. It's asking its saying some of our objects have moved about. Okay, I'm just gonna click on captured position. I'm gonna kind of ignore it for now, but we'll go back to what that means in a bit. We've got more things to show. Now it You'll see I'm in this joint mode here, and we have different types of joints. We're gonna look at all the joints. For now, it is just back. Quite basic, John, This is just outside stuck to that side. But making sure of about Miss Flesch. So in some software, you'd have to do it over Marvin One command first you would say that face sticks to that face and then you would say this face on this face are flush and men T it's still about degree of freedom. You'd have to say this face in this phase of push. Okay, but fusion is very good with joints is it's so publicly You can do it, only one. So what you do is first, you would say Okay, I want this face and you can see this icon. The whole face is gone kind of opaque or its highlighted. But you can also see this kind of circle how filled in at the end of my arrow. So it's actually asking for two options in one go. It's asking for a face, but it's asking for a base point as well. If we highlight over the face and then move along this face to a base point and you'll see it gives you a hint with these little icons here, what you could use a bass point if we use this corner here. So let me show again. We go over the face to highlight it and move down to back on, and you'll see it snaps to that corner. If we left quit once there and then we go to this view we can do is we can say OK, so their faces stuck to this face on McConnell was selected. Is it that gone over? Okay. And you'll see it moves together, and it does this kind of shaky thing at the end to show you a both moving together, different kind of joints do different things, is it's call it wait described it said its animating that joint is showing you that if one of them kind of shuffles about the everyone is rigid to it and it will shuffle about as well. Now, I could give it an officer here. In our case, I just wanted stuck straight to it. Okay, so there we go, and you'll see now if I click on it and try and drag it, the whole thing moves about one se. Now what we actually want, We don't want it to move about. So if you can imagine in real life, trying to be a bit like trying to build this workbench on the international space station with all your parts floating around in mid air, you you kind of reach up and grab one and put it down on the floor. And I wanted flow often. That's basically what's happening at the moment because nothing is stuck down. So you need to stick at least one piece down, and then you can stick everything else to it. That's kind of a way worse. And to do that, the phrase is grounded. That's what they call it. So you left. Click it to highlight it, right? Click and you can see here you've got ground. You click that click on capture position on There you go. Now, this whole thing that keeps saying about positions and capture position, Yeah, what? Just for now, I'll show you what all that means for now. Just captured a position. So I'm going to select joint. I'm going to slap his face and veg and then I'm going to join it to that face. But edge okay. And you'll see it goes to govern. Now these two are set rigid put. I don't want I don't want it to flesh out. I wanted officer here. I don't want these faces to be foolish. I want this this section to be 75 millimeter downwards. Okay, so what I could do before finishes command. Now, I could slip arrow on. Aiken, pull it down. 75. Okay, so now this is set How? I asked it the joints, but it's often bits off, set up joint by minus mean dropping down 75 five. Press return, and you'll see now if I chain movies about was before Because this long leg is grounded and Liza stuck to it, it's not gonna go anywhere. No, this part here. I actually wanted this Toby different size. I didn't want it to be the same sizes we pasted it in, but we place it is new, but I actually wanted to be a different length. So I'm going to click on this press poll, and I'm gonna track this face down by 1 50 Okay, That so that will be our leg of our workbench? No, because we've created our leg. I'm gonna want far a vase, but I don't want you can say out Leg is currently made up of free components. Okay, so I want to create a leg assembly, which is made up of ease components, which we can use as a sub assembly. Okay, so these will be their own self assembler Inside forward bunch. So we go back to all main assembly, right click and we put new component. Okay, Andi, I'm skimming. Rename it like Syria Wolf. So this is a component of a moment. There's nothing actually in it. But what we can do, we can shift. Select. Oh, I like components. A man holding down the left foot and weaken drug them. If we hand like this, you'll see a few things up. Amazed drug from inside. So if we click on this arrow, we can now see there inside with leg 01 on the icon has changed to an assembly. Okay, so this is what we want. We've got an assembly. We've been assembly. So this is now a self assembly on inside that sub assembly. We have our components. So what we can do now? We could just copy that four times on that would be Alec 38. 38 Workbench 03: Okay, so we're going to allow Lex out here on first. I'm going to do one side of it. I'm going to mirror it. So I'm just gonna use I'm gonna do a pattern and you'll see it's again. It's trying to cite the face, so that's just a default here. We could change that to component. If we just quickly object, it will still go to the lowest component and slipped the individual pieces so we can just select it here. Miss Brother, we just quit that it will select the whole thing. OK, now direction. It's meant to be in this direction here. Andi. I want it. Let's go out. Let's go. 1200. I want my workbench. 1200 wide. Do anyone two legs here. I'm gonna click. OK, have it and you'll see it is going topsy for you because it's just not. We've got only one, like, selected. Okay, if we go back to our model conceiving both now what I want to do now is mirror of them to the other side. The problem is, we got nothing. No geometry to mirror them around. So we're going to construct on offset playing. OK, so we slipped up, and now we want our plane. I'm gonna go on this face here, and I'm gonna select it. And then I'm gonna move this arrow in that direction. I'm gonna go with I want my table to be 900. Okay, so I'm gonna go here minus 4 50 which will put up right in the middle for 50. Okay, so this is like a is a work plane. It's just an imaginary plain. It's not going to show anything, but it gives us something to work with now because we can just go to mirror, okay? Components Well, slept again. Well, slept in our browser. It's like those to and from the mirror plane will select that. We'll click. OK, so now we have our legs laid out for our workbench. So yeah, and now I'm going to create our frame, which was sitting these, like when you'll start to see it looked like a natural workbench man again. This is how I actually build in real life. Very strong benches. So I'm going to go. I want another piece of this timber the same length. To do that, I can drill right down into one piece I can go to copy, Go to our main folder off our project, paste New and bring it out and you'll see we've got independent new piece here. Now I want Mr sit in these channels and you'll see this is why we've made these pieces these sizes so a new section will sit in there. I can't remember the distance or can. But if you if you can't, you could just go appear to inspect and click on this measuring tool. I'm not. We'll let you measure economic hit from that face to that face, and it tells us it's 12 75. OK, well, I actually want to do elect our table 1200 wide. Why is that what it's done? It's actually it's moved in 1200 but it's added itself. The wit for this piece was 75 so it's 75 millimeters to fire part. Well, that's fine. All we need to do is go in our history too. But where we did our pattern which was here, right? Click edit feature. Find our 1200 minus 75. So, in fact, this would have bean 11 25. And if we okay But now we can now measure this andare distances 1200. Okay, so, getting the beauty of its barometric this history, you can go back and just changing so easily. So this here now we can't do press pool. I'm not face. I will make it 1200. Okay, Don't go. So it's now will be a string of it sits in all of these guys Give up easy enough. First, I'm going to copy. Okay. I like online project this time because I want them all to remain the same. And if the length changes on the mall to change, I'm not a good place. You're gonna go faced just okay, but check it out. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna faced okay, I'm putting four form. There we go. It's a vase. Fall are always string is Oh. Needs to now is under assemble goats joint. This case, it would be better to join, but face on that corner to that face. I'm back on and you'll see. There it goes. Okay, I'm gonna Okay, do it a little shake. So it's It's all together because we set their lengths. Correct. It's six in there nicely. Nothing's going to move. But we are 39. 39 Workbench 04: And you know what going to do? Infusion. And and also for actually, you're always looking to make your life easier. Okay, Andi, what has just occurred to me here is I can do that now. By deletes in those. Okay, um, on. In fact, I can I can Really? I'm going to leave these legs, Okay? Because I could just create put these friends on hand. I can mirror of the whole thing. So let's do it that way. I've been to a joint. I'm going to select the about face on that corner. I'm gonna put it on that face on back corner. Well, fusion is good, but it's not perfect. And sometimes it it doesn't quite get what you want. Now you do all these offsets, and we do have also have a rotate so we could rotate that until we get this seat's minus 90 . And we could do nothing wrong about all. Alternatively, we could have used a different method here because we have We are using this corner so we could go back toe joining it with this. This one here, I'm not gonna Okay, now again, that is gonna take some revolving. Nothing wrong. All there's no Do it however you need it. So let's just do about okay, Let's just do it that way. There we go. So this is our kind of side frame, if you like off our workbench. Okay? Something. I want to do this. I want to go back to our plane here, which would condemn confined. I actually want. Now this. This should be the outside face. Okay? No. So this plane, in order to mirror it, needs to be on the other side. Okay, I could edit it. In this case, it's not doing anything else. Is not defending feels I'm gonna delete it. Yes, OK, I'm gonna put in. You played on. So I'm going to go construct plane, and it's going to go from here. That Why? So we minus 4 50? Okay, they said no waken Just mirror this all over toppling, but this frame could be built. And this is something you want to be keeping an eye on. Anything that could be built in its own kind of modular farm away. Maybe away from sight, All just in a different area. Really want to make a separate assembly or components overseas aside from here, we could call this Saturday, Could build two of ours and bring them in and put them together. And I think that's how I actually did it in the real world on its harmony to do it here. So what I want is to create a new component, and I will call this side frame Syria one. And into this I will put what and shifts so that these OK, I'm in. Drag him into the so that side friend. And now all I need to do his mirror, side frame on the I'm Okay. And you'll see it's going off because I've only got if I select up there, I swept from main project. Everything is showing. So that is our bench. Now we just need to do the cross pieces, which is some would wear on their own, even side. Okay, so let's select not peace. Copy. And in our main project, way will go to placed new. Okay, drag it out. I'm going. Okay. No, let's get a measurement here just to confirm from that face toe. That face is 900. So we won't miss, please here on our world workers. But you can select whole Edgware. That is 900. So that's fine. It's It's a correct width. So we can just now. So to assemble, weaken, join quick capture position. I'm glad to join, but face on my corner to that face and that gone and I'm going to rotate it zero degrees. Okay, I'm going to copy this. And then in the main project, going toe paste, not new face. A new instance. I'm going to just drugged up. OK, now we should just be able to judge this up by five, 25 I think it is. Five, 25 Yes, there we go. So now I'm gonna cut what? Create another planet. What? This plane To be in the center. What is going to be in a sensitive this object here So we can say mid plane. I mean, all we need to do you select this face on this face and you'll see it put a plane in the middle of those two faces, which gives us for center. And now all we need to do is mirror that one. I'm not one with this plane just created, okay? And these will be in the correct place. So now we have a frame for all weapons 40. 40 Workbench 05: okay, but it does need a tall on. What I also do is put a sheet on here as well, which means cutting out these recesses so we could do easy enough. First, I'm gonna put the shelf the lower sheet. And to do that, I'm going to select on here again. A new component. I'm gonna call this shelf sheet Syria one, and you'll notice I always put 01 The reason is, if ever I wanted to create more of these shelves on mall, the same object could create zero suit serviced. In this case, I probably never would need it, but it's a good habit to get into of just number in everything. Okay? And I wouldn't go back to make the whole thing. Okay, so we have this component here ready to go, and it's going to pay a sheet of six on these. I wanted to sit on all these timbers, but you'll see whether legs are you kind of need. It cuts out. Okay, So if I'm active, all I need to do to do that is to go to a sketch onto that plane there, Okay, Just quickly. So you know what? You're looking directly straight down. Okay, so now I'm going to go to create project on what project will do. It will allow us to see this geometry. Some of this geometry now isn't actually on our scale. Nothing exists in our sketch. No lines. What we're looking at here when we see the table, it's just shown is the outline kind of a ghost outline of where it is so we can line things up. But what we can do, we can use this project command to actually project geometry onto our sketch. So to do that, we'll go to Project OK? Yeah. It will ask those in geometry. I'm just gonna quit that corner. I'm not gonna Okay? And I'm also going to select not going to that. I'm gonna cook, Okay. So often is free points I don't like including lots of geometry you might not need because it can make your sketches very message. But now we consider it a two point rectangle from But point to that we can't let a line so another two point rectangle. So the Okay, Andi, I could trim out these lines now. I'm going to create a line from the midpoint straight on here from this midpoint. Well, uh, okay. Now I'm going to mirror these lines around, but long that Okay? I'm going to mirror the guy. About what? I'm, uh, okay. And you can go around now and I'm gonna trim out from always on. You might get these warnings come off without various constraints and things. Ignore that. Okay, go. Now. I can actually no finish sketch. Now. You could see we have this here on our sketch. Sits inside this shelf. A sheet model called sketcher one. Okay, You could write what you can edit it. So what I can do now is I can extrude that shape. I could have deleted those. Marilyn. Doesn't matter. I just extremely is going to be 12 millimeters thick plywood on top of here. Okay, that on their ago. So we know this part will be cut out. It will have these cooks put in it, and it will sit nicely in the middle of a free out to buy everything you can see. It will sit there like that on. Actually, it needed to go to the edge here for some reason, it off trimmed it off. So Let's go back and let's just edit L A sketch. Okay, so let's extend extend. I think that should do it. So for finishes sketch, we go back to our extrude I did not feature. Yeah, we just miss clicking those. And our top piece is gonna be even easier because it's very no cuts out studio. It's just gonna be a flat sheet, so I'm just gonna go appear right. Click new component. I'm gonna call this. Is there one? Okay, Andi, I'm gonna create a sketch on that play. Gonna make sure we're top down. I'm going to project gonna onda about gonna okay, and then do two point rectangle from the points we just projected. Simple is about finished sketch. And now it's just a case of extruding. Some reason it's what most separately. Why doesn't matter? 12 millimeters and that will give us our top sheet on. We'll go by, activate the whole thing, and there we go. So now all we need to do He's go to we right. Click this and physical material again. It's hot in here. Go to wood and I want a plywood plywood finish. Okay, so So what? That and so that it's not really doing anything. Well, there is. Could have a mahogany. So you can see. Actually, just so it shows, it hopes just so it shows it better again. Physical material. That's my talks, Mahogany. I'm gonna go just so it looks better for much work. Bunch. So Okay, so you'll see now what we have here we have our main assembly is call it all weapons. No wonder that workbench we have some to subassemblies, which are our side frames in the side frame assembly. We have a nervous of assembly, which is for lack intellect. We have these components as well as its up the leg. Self assembly. We actually have these pieces. It's called them Leg Lums. I would actually want to rename those because they're more like maybe called side frame one . I mean, you see names on both side frame. So in our side frame. Actually, it's not because our somebody called side frame. I would call them side frame. What about side frame? Sorry, frank piece. It's been long, but at least it's so now the outside frame It's a bit long. It's a bit long, but at least it describes what it is. So under our side frame sub assembly, we have the legs of assembling on the same frame. Side frame piece components. Okay, So the purpose of this exercise here was mainly to show you how assemblies and pieces work together. So I hope you can see that we are our main assembly subassemblies inside, so percent with insights of assembly on pieces and always now is quite a logical. Um, it's quite a logical makeup in terms of the assemblies and subassemblies on which ones are underneath of us. Okay. And that if I say that is how we use assemblies with components, it's a great projects. Okay, so there you go. You took your first work. Punished later. We'll see you later. We'll see how we Kentucky's and actually met women to join. You could send to someone all print out, detective your wood shop and create yourself. But for now, yeah, that's your first assembly 41. 41 Joints 01: Okay, so now it's time to create another model. Put some of this stuff together. I want to teach you about some more joints. We really need a good model to do this with. We can use that to just put together some of the constraints we fled. Just solidify it in our mind. Okay? So first thing would start a new project. I'm going to go new component. I'm gonna call this component vice body and we're going to create a small vice like a machinist would use something again. It will be, but very basic. But I'm not here to do 30 hour courses and make things complicated. You so compact it out. That's no good to anyone. You just get bored. So it's gonna be a fairly simple vice, but it will. It will do the job of teaching us some more joints, so this component would be called vice body on. I'm active now. I'm gonna create a sketch on here, and I'm going to use a center rectangle which I'll make 50 by 175 OK, no, it's about. And now I want to put some lines on. I want to make a cut out on here. So I'm going to do to point Rectangle. I'm just gonna snap onto this line anywhere and just randomly puts it in there for now. Okay, I'm gonna go trim. I'm gonna trim both those lines out. Now, I could get rid of Dagnall construction lines because we don't have any more, so I'm not needed. And let's have a look at what we've got in terms of constraints we consume. We've got these parallel constraints here. Parallel there with everything seems to be set right on goals or power Low Colonia, It's still blow. We need to put some dimensions on. Okay, so this side, this will need to be Let's call this cause 35 OK, on this side will be small. This will be 20. Okay. And now this good out here will be 40. Go. It's still blow. You might thinking, Well, it's all constrained now, But the one thing it doesn't know is where it sits in space in terms of the origin. So we need to sets it in terms of the origin with some dimensions. Okay on. I want it. I want to keep it symmetrical is possible again. Always trying worked symmetrically. So all this line this point here to be in the center, which means this line on here I could put Dimension on, which would be half off. 175 Okay, now I could get a calculates a route, and I could work out what is half of one Some five and type patting, but confusion. You can just type 175 slash for divide two. So that's 175 divided by two press return. Easy. Okay. And you'll see vertical undergone black because they're now constraints. So we just need to give it this dimension here. There you go. It's all black now, and it's all constrained. And we've got our first component sketch there. We can finish the sketch and we can extrude it. Now on. Let's make it 1 20 Okay, so this is our vice body here now. I just want to set it. I'm going to like this. The front. Okay, so you pull down menu and you'll have set current viewers from now. You might not see that because it's off on another monitor. When you click this button, you'll get the option to set the current views from. Okay, so now it's all from So I'm going to create a new component. I'm gonna call this vice slide. Okay, This will be the piece that slides in and out as it twists device. So let's create sketch on this blowing here and let's project. I'm going to project that point from that line, and then I could do a two point rectangle from the point to the line. And all I need to do now is give it this dimension, which I will make Oh, my 25. Uh, okay, that's black. That's constraint. And I cant extrude this now, and I'm going to go. Same height to bring it up to that level, but 40. Okay, so now if I make everything active, you can see the whole thing, and I'm going to save us now is vice model. Okay? And you'll see it changes the name. They have ice models with advice model. We've got advice, buddy, and we've got a vice slide. So we need to make our turning mechanism that we will turn to push this vice forwards and backwards, Okay, at the moment is just sitting anywhere. Now, this is a good time to talk about the position. We've seen this error message come up about a position, current position, and I can show you this. Now, I'm just gonna click window for that. So you could see we've got our two components here. If I go to component view, you consider we've got the vice border we've got with ice line now. Advice Slide has gone underneath the vice buddy. We don't actually want that. We want the thigh slide so I can left click and drag it, and I'm going to put it onto the main model. So that brings it out from being underneath this body now. So we're two separate components here, Okay? But they're going to remain where they were drawn. We drew this slide by doing a sketch off here. It's actually in the correct position, so withdrawn in the correct position. We could have drawn out here for a new dimensions. But it's in the correct position, and it's. And what fusion will do is it will capture that position, and it will remember it. So even though this isn't joined to the vice body, if I was to drag this out, a new command will come up here. This position. Now, I have two options here. Maybe a drag that into the correct place, in which case I can capture the position and what that will do. It will take a kind of snapshot and say OK, from now on, this part lives here. This is a new position. Oh, maybe I just drugged out like we did to show that it's not joined. It is not part off. And really, I want to put it back now so I can go to revert. I'm not Reverts it there. And I can do this. However, many times I want, I can move it all over. It's not undoing. It's not. It's not moving it back to a previous position. It's reverted back to a captured position. If I was to move it there, um, in select catch position. Whenever I click with that, it will move back here. Okay? So just be aware. Don't you don't. Sometimes earlier on, we will capture the position just to be able to proceed because we hadn't learned this yet . But a lot of time, you'll just let it revert to the original place. Okay? Which will do now. So what I want to do now I want to create a whole right in the middle of this faith here. I know this is whole is going to be the vice body, so I want to make sure active on just that part like component. So I want to put on the middle of this face. I want to put a point, OK, which is just, like getting sent to punch and create a mark. So I'm going to get both these blue lines up by hovering over mid points. And we know now we're in the center of this face and we could put up matter. But when you get these blue lines, it is just a guide. Before it's put it, we haven't constrained it properly, So we do need to constrain that by putting on dimensions. Okay, it will be in the correct place because we use those blue line so we can just don't gave him. But we do need to specify it. It hasn't got dimensions or anything. When it's not, it's not. It's not fully constrain. So we've got our center punch map. We can finish out sketch. Okay, so now I'm going to select whole. I'm good to slip up. Placement is at point. A single home. Okay, the face is there. My point is there. Okay, it's gonna be this. I want a Fred. It whole on the distance will be too Thought face. That would go. Okay, now the size I'm going to make it 20 millimeters 25. Make it 25. Actually, No. 2025 Big. It doesn't really matter. It's just example when I started 20 and I'm gonna click. OK, what we have that now is a Freddie toll. So in terms of his vice body, I'm happy without now. 42. 42 Joints 02: Okay, so let's mirthless and it was slide. Let's make the slide active. Andi, I'm going to do a sketch on here on this face. Now, I want this circle to be the same kind of damage that here. So I'm just gonna project it. I want to be in the same place, same diameter. So we can just project this her face, which we get there. And now for this one, I'm going to finish a sketch, and I'm just going to extrude. Listen, I'm gonna go minus do it. OK, so we just have a little hole for, uh, we have a metal rod through her. It's gonna screw for a person. It's just gonna sit in there. Okay? So let's go. And let's make a whole model active again, and you could see these holes line up because I used it for the projected vet to do a sketch. So now we need a new component. So we make sure we're on our main model first when we go to new component and I'll call this, Um, that's cool. It's just call it wrote. Okay, Simple on this Will bay just a simple I can do it on this face, I can project circle. Okay. Finish for sketch. No, I need to do Is good about circle. And I'm going to make this. We know our so it wants to be Let's make it. That's a bit long. Let's make it one night. Okay? I'm gonna make it when I So now we have this new component called when we come Mervis in our even though we made it, we re used Mr. Sketch is still movable. Okay, but let me just revert. But now I'm going to put a Fred Illness and I want it. We office 10 mil hole, but it's over. The idea is, the end of this road will sit about Cem Mil Hole. There would be some kind of bearing thinking name reality that would let it turn. But we're just gonna let it sit in there, and it's gonna be Frederick, so it will screw on here. So we need to put a Fred on this road, but no, all the way. Okay, so let's reverted back to this position on. Let's create Frank. Okay? It's asking for a face. We just select that face and it's asking for a profile I want this. I so metric profile. You slept on when you slept the face. It automatically chooses the best one. Okay, now I don't want it full length, because I want I want a blank section here for this to slot in tow else when? A blank section on the end for some kind of handle. So offset. Let's go with 10. That will be of a handle side. So? So let's go with 25. OK, so we'll give a 25 offset. And now the length of if we want 10 mil here. What? We do that by specifying the length. So if the length was all the way to the end, then the Frederick Guttsman So we want to bring it back. But say Yeah, some milk. Okay, so we have a Fred on this road, which is 100 50 meat millimeters long on. It starts 25 millimeters in. And if we okay up, there we go. So now we're getting mail. Our model is almost up, but I want to put some kind of handle, Miss. So how can we do that? Well, I want one about whole fruit. This road. What? I can do is put this If I go to construct, we can put a plane on. We've got all these planes here, and we've got axes, which is basically line, and we've got points. Okay, so I could put a ton Jim play on this. I'm not. We can specify an angle. I want to keep it. Zero. Okay, that might let's just put this this plane here. Okay? For one side, we commend sketch on here and create circle. Uh, I'm going to make this. I'm going to make it five millimeters. Okay, finish sketch. So we have that kind of flotsam today. We can now use up. I'm just gonna drug out. We could give a distance if we wanted minus 20. Okay, But it's gonna cut a hole through that we wanted. Um, that's all fretted. Wrote finished so we could go back to the main assemble it on. We can see now we are kind of getting somewhere beginning to, like advice. We just need some kind of pain to go through here so we can turn it. So let's do a new component, and we'll call this been okay? And I'm going to draw this it doesn't really matter where we draw it. I'm gonna draw this on the origin playing just so we can see this will be a circle off five millimeters diameter, not 50. They took change that five OK, for the sketch on Go to extremes. This out. This will probably baby quite long. So you concerned? Let's make it. Let's make it 100 millimeters. Okay, so there we go. So I'm gonna activate the whole thing. And you can see most of this was modeled in place. This pin wasn't purposely did it there. So this demonstration, if I go to revert now, it will go back to where it was modeled, which is wrong. Now we can pull over his apart, and sometimes it's easy to see where things are supposed to go when you do it that way. 43. 43 Joints 03: but I'm gonna do some assembling. Now. I'm gonna do some joints. Okay? We're gonna look at these. So this is where I wanted to be to do this demonstration. Wait, Can pretty much see how it needs to go together. So let's assemble it. Let's go. We're going to a new joint, Andi. It's gonna tell us about this. So we continue, we can revert back. We can capture position. Okay. So if I just go continue, it will revert back, Which is okay. You can do that. If I'd have clicked on, do I get if I click on capture position, then it would have set out its new position for us. Okay, I'm gonna continue. I want to show you. Also here is that back under joints. We have joint and we have a house built joint. What's the difference? Will the joint will just let you drag one component from anywhere? Never complete it from anywhere joining together. And that will be joined in a way you specify as built. Joint is when you want. You can use that when you want to put items together already in their correct place. So let's say this Rod a Miss Vice are already in their correct place. We could say as built joint and what it will know what the staying where they are. Okay, But we want him. We want to do a bit more on intelligent junks. We want to adding movement here. So I actually sometimes like to just drugs in the way and then capture about position and I know now, but these parts need assembling. And if I was to start putting them together and then go to revert, it reverts. And back to here. OK, so I know that these need building. It's a bit like assembly. Not It's like having your components on a table top ready to be assembled. So let's join them together. I'm going to create a joint. It's going to pay that circle and let me I want to look in here. I don't want that circle, okay? And it's gonna put those together, but that's a rigid joining the moment. So we want this to be able to turn. We want to imagine there's some kind of bearing in their service. Rabkin, turn independently of that block, so we need to add some motion. We're going to use this revolution and you'll see animated. Now it's exactly what we wanted we wanted but turning there so we can okay, about. And now there is some animation here with it. Won't do anything when we try and jacket. Because we haven't grounded any elements yet. What I'm gonna do while his ground this vice block. Okay, so the next jump you want, we want to put this. Want this to slide inside this hole here? Okay, So less of what? Let's go to joint. I'm just go click on continue here because we've grounded vest. Now it's tell. It's Gon only partially visible, saying it can't be moved. Okay, so I'm going to select the face under center point on. I'm going to Sloat This here, which is putting it in, and it's animated more. We've got it still set on a revolution. So I'm going to change us to a slider and you'll see now it's animating how it thinks we want toe do this If you need to again, you could just quit this play button here, so that's actually correct. That's exactly what we wanted. It wanted to slide through that hole. And if I click. OK, now you'll see because it's joined to that Block this one over as well. Okay. Okay. So what is that like? No, at the moment this it sets a roadside. Okay. We've told it that there is a rotation joint between this piece on this piece and it doesn't really know. Doesn't know what item it is. It's secular. Best guess it's doing well, but it isn't perfect. It doesn't know what advice is. So we want going the other way around. We want this to stay still, and we want that to rotate. Well, what we need to do is join this on this together. So let's go assemble. I'm well, or just two new for now. I'm going to select. I'm going to select this face on my corner with that face. I'm not gonna Okay. No, it's tried to put them that way. I don't want them that way. I want it flipped. So it seems givers. If you concede what it's doing it it's even joining joining them face to face or joining them side by side. We want it side by side. Okay, But we want some motion here is well, way want to be able to slide. If we animate, It's That's the wrong axes. We don't want it Slide in there so we can change this. X axes. That's correct. And if we have spit y axes, that would have been incorrect. So we want the X axes. We won't be sliding here. And don't worry about moving through the object. Okay? We'll settle that, like, just locate up. So now it's doing work did before, but it's it's not gonna let us rotate this. Okay, so we're getting there unless put our pin and now so remind ourselves of the length Will measure from that faced about faces. Pretty sure it was 100. 100 minutes is okay. I'm going to assemble on. I'm going. Teoh, assemble. Click on. Continue on this face inside the okay. And you'll see we still got emotional. We still gotta slide emotional because it's been will be free to slide through, But again, we're gonna It's like the different axes and that's what we want. Okay, And here I'm going to do on officer in visit axes. Ah, minus 45 which will just bring it in the middle. Okay, so now we're getting somewhere this. We have our being here and we have the advice, but something's not quite right here. This should turn this vice, okay? 44. 44 Joints 04: so I just need to do some adjustments here. One thing I'm going to do is edit this joint. I don't. Whilst it it can slide for our purposes here. We don't want it to slightly wanted to twist Ravan slide. So I'm going to right click in the history. The last joint. I'm gonna make this rigid. Okay? I'm not watch to make it richard to that point, but we still can't turn it. And there's a reason for that. So we put a rotation joint between these two pieces, but we haven't got rotation joint. We need this to be able to rotate inside the body at the moment it slides in the body, but we haven't told it can rotate in this body, so fusion won't let it do something less. We've told it so this joint here needs to be amended on its this slide joint here. Okay, so let's edit this joint and let's see what we can dio. It's a slide in joint, which is fine, which is what we wanted. But what we need to do is slide on and rotate. Okay, so here we have some other joints. We have cylindrical and If you hide it, we'll tell it. You tell you what it can do. It can rotate and move along. A single axes. Okay, so cylindrical. If we click it, you can see now it's doing exactly what we want. If I play about again, it's rotating and it's sliding. So I'm going to OK, but now let's see what we can do. We can rotate and we can slide. Okay, so now it it's it's kind of getting there. We do have a bit of a problem in that of a moment. Things we made. A finnair. This is going through the over object. So we need we need to tell fusion it. This this subject here cannot actually passed through another solid object. And we can do that with these contact sets, so we'll click on enable contact sets. I was like new contacts that so it's ask you for The bodies are the components, so that's very simple. Just quick on these two when we click OK, and now you'll say, like a kind of a teacher and stop if you were to get your mouse and kind of false it well, this isn't a simulation this is just a modelling tool at the moment, so you can false it with your mouth and it will kind of push it for inside. But just if you just do it gently, you can see where the concepts that contact sets. Okay, so this is looking nicer now, But we've also got something else. A with this is turning, which is what it maids. But it's there's no connection in real life, you will be turning this on. This will be moving forwards and you turn it the other way and live but of a moment is just too different Joints rotating and sliding. Well, we can also set up. We can do that with this motion link. OK, so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna capture this position. I kind of like that half open mouth shut. So I'm gonna capture that same motion link. It's asking us to slip the joints that we want to tie together. So we want to tie together this sliding joint with this rotating joint here. Okay. And what we're gonna say is this cylinder joint service this cylinder will rotate for 160 degrees for every 10 millimeters of slide Okay, well, that might be OK. Let's try that. That's OK. And now we can see. But as we as we move this, we get this rotation here. I think looking at it, it's rotating the wrong way. Okay, so let's see if we can add it up. We just click on the less we could have said it rotates free 60 for every 20 millimeters. Okay, it's not always preview that, but if we okay, when we move this, I'm not looks that looks better. So you can see now that advice is actually working as it should. We turn the handle on the things like full, I make a match. That's the power of joints infusion on if we want. We commit this look a bit better by making it. Let's just make a different color. See if we've got something here that's let's make it. Let's blow here. Okay, let's go with a kind off who's still groaned. We just make it look like that, so get rid of so that self ice. Now you can see how easy is how easy fusion makes it to make not just models, but actually simulate things and see for work, and you would no only do this to see if it worked. But if you wanted to show somewhere if you came up with this design for a new type of ice and you wanted to send it, you can actually let someone say how it will end. Technical. Joran is something I stood it years ago and it za good schools will look like him. It's cost about how you can create a technical joint to send someone to model, but you cannot be being able to just show someone what this is always gonna work. But it's something that fusion is grateful, so they go as joints. 45. 45 Inserts 01: Okay, so now we going to look at insertions and Miss Insertion Menu here and see what we got under here because there's some good stuff so derived. This lets you insert kind of components. Andi sketches. Let's say something we designed yesterday wants to bring in as part of this assembly. We can insert a new partner or a saved part. Sorry, So that's fairly self explanatory it decal. Now this is great. This well, let you put on image onto something so it could be like a logo if something could be made with a logo if you wanted to actually free d printable over something. You can do that here. So it last year, Where is again? It's looking in your kind of online directory. So if you want something that's on your computer, you can click on Accept from my computer. I have it I era foam Freedy logo. I'm just going to use that and it's asking for a face. So I'm gonna put it on Miss Face here and now you're gonna get all these kind of options you can fill in, but again, it says it's just used the kind of smart editing tool because it's fairly explanatory than what you trying to do. Okay? You can scale it. You can road site it and you'll see all of these changes will do it, and you can move it. So, uh oh, that's gonna be okay. And you can make it opaque here, so maybe it was just a slight logo. Okay, I'm gonna click, OK, And may we have suggests you, Deco, uh, so that will let you put logos and things like that. Okay, so, canvas, So what? Canvases, if you let's say we wanted to, I suppose. And I wanted to create a new component here, let me actually let me start a new drawing. So this is generally something used for more organic modeling. Or maybe you were trying to create a model of an aeroplane. Real life aeroplane. Ah, a car or something like that. You can insert these canvases again, insert from the computer. Uh, let's go. So maybe wanted an airplane like, Okay, you might choose that face. Andi scaling up. Okay. When you might have another canvas off the front of the aeroplane on that face. Okay, Hands. And you would have to make sure you got these scales? Correct. But you could then start sketching. Okay on. You can use this as a kind off some plight, just to roughly. I'm not gonna try and do this, but it would allow you to then model. We have a kind of template sitting in the background, but you could sketch over and get the correct size. Okay, again, I'm not gonna go through that. It's just to show it to you. If I was coming from a background from something like Freedy Studio are one of the more graphical packages, like mayor or something like that, This is You would have done this. You'll know exactly what this is joined to do is giving you something to model. And this is used in things like film special effects. When you when they're modeling something from Star Wars, a spaceship or something like that, what they would do It would go to an artist who would joy it with an actual pain proper out drawing. And he would do what we call a free view. So we do a side view or front view a top u a minute. If it came to announce modeler who that kind of improve, It won't be done Infusion. But if it waas maybe wanted toe do infusion forever raising money would take those drawing side view from view. I'm certain his canvases and many would sit anyone with model around. Okay, so that's what chemists, and it's not part of your It's not gonna output to anything. You're not gonna you know, this is a bit like construction lives. This is just something in the background that's allowed you to draw. So it's not actually in physically new drawing become bus. Okay, insert mesh. So let's go. You have If you're into three D printing, you'll know about STL files and you can download STL files from various places someone might give you want to print Afridi print? Maybe you want to make some alterations to that. You haven't got the actual model. You've just got the output file, which is STL, which is just Afridi print found. You can download these from websites that just thing birth, you could import that meshing into your drawing. Okay, um so have I got any stale files? I should have Asian Hornet trap. That was one. So we can import up and you can see what it looks like. This was a K just was. Actually, I had some hornets one outside my office, so I downloaded on Asian Hornet truck age. And this is how it look. This is how it comes in. So that's been downloaded from some by someone who has made it available to free D print. And you can bring that into your model. Okay, so the three D print guys will like that. Let's go file you So svg. SVG is kind of a basic image. Maybe you want Maybe you want an outline of something you wanted to bring in. You could bring that any news as a sketch so you could does the outline of your camera B A sketch? Maybe maybe it extrude by printing out was a Q and I don't know, a mouse mat three except kind of same thing. This is what a cup Guys will know what this is. The excess you can answer if you want something joining the auto cat to day. You couldn't bring that into your sketch on when you could extra, but again, just is not really We don't really need to show if you know what these I have to use them. It will make sense. If you don't, you probably don't need to know. 46. 46 Inserts 02: Okay, so one of one of the best insert options infusion. Is this one down here, which is insert McMaster car component. Okay, so some of you may know who McMaster car. Some of you may not basically a large supplier of all sorts of hardware and components and my kind of thing in the primarily us. Um, but I'm pretty sure you kind of order from them that really do off a website in every country. I've never actually ordered anything from them myself, but I've use their components along. Okay, so let's have a look. If we go down now, this is going to look a bit different when we click on it. Okay, So if we go down, if I click on it, it comes up with this catalogue of parts. If you have just installed fusion, they haven't used this option before. When you click on it, it's gonna cut with something a bit different. It's going toe basically, before you can use this, you need to create an account with McMaster car. Okay, now I've gotten accounting. It's all linked, so it will come up like this. All I can say is, you just fall over prompts. It's asking for to set up an account. Okay, you may need to register. See, I need to look in Even I've gotten account. Um, which I'll do, but you probably need to go and create a whole account and go through the thing with confirming your email. So I let you I let you do about so you might want to pause this chapter and do that and then come back to it. Okay, so hopefully your looked in on, like, mine does. It should say your name there would ever use the name you've created. And you should now have this catalog here. If you have any problems we've created account with McMaster car. Unfortunately, not much I can do in terms of that. So please don't contact me with an issue with my MasterCard because there's really nothing I can do. I'd love to help, but I won't be able to, so you'll need to go through. Master Kyle Fusion helped to get any issues without resolved. Hopefully you've all got to this stage eventually on. Now, once you've set it up once, that's it. If you took a box to keep you loved in you want me to do any of that? You'll just be able to go down to inset MasterCard component. Okay? And it look, you're in. There you go. So I'm gonna move on. I'm gonna say we're all of this starts. So what is that clears this? Well, it's a catalog of all these. All these parts as he got. I mean, you've got everything is tools if you want to show tools. It was electrical parts fabrication parts. These are the things that probably is most, which is the fastest. So things like screws, bolts, I bolts. Um, it depends what kind of thing you're doing on what industry in, but you cannot valves. You can even have furniture. Um, it's hardware here. Say, I think his feet. These would be good to put on the bottom of a workbench we made so he could level it. Maybe 1 to 2. So you've got all sorts, things that hinges of easily use quite a lot. Um, that's what we got over his hating stuff. Lubricated something, something that difficult too much And how you would actually put them into a drawing. But you might want to show up just for whatever reason, you got a point. Fittings here. Power transmission again. It really depends what industry in. And you also have raw materials, so things like metals you could have still round tube. Okay, low carbon round trip. So if I go back the main site, I'll show you here. Let's put in if we want to The bolt. So? So we just wanted a I'm just gonna go with and if now, um, let's just go with that and I show you how to insert something. OK, so you choose the size you want and you get all these options. So there's all sorts here. You will probably find what you're looking for on this, I would imagine, because it's such an extensive cattle up. And let's say this is OK, this is about we want. This is when we want to use. Okay, it's a bit clumsy how you get them in. But what you have to do is when you select it and you could see it saying at what he can actually audio parts. For if you've got it set up with your payment, once you don't use, then you can You can all be a part you need. But let let's say we've selected our part. Now we want this we want in our drawing. What you actually have to do is click on this product detail here again. It is a bit a bit clumsy this part. But you'll see you get all the details of it and you can see all this. See if it's what you want. Okay? Yes, it's what want. Let's say it's what you want. You scroll down and it about time you get the pull down menu here, and it's asking for all these different types of bacon. Bring it is a pdf. If you using all took up, you can bring in bubble A. This isn't if you're looking at this thinking, Wow, this would be great for my auto cannibalism flight. You could just go to a website and you can get a lot of this stuff. So this is just a fusion plucking on now so you can bring it in as a date of Eugene. Get it off, get it for all took. OK, but what fusion? For bringing it a night owl issues. Afridi, step. Okay, so So let Freedy step. I'm gonna select save and again, depending on your computer and everything, but there you go. So that's a Borchers. It's asking. Knows it's got this normal transform. Think basically asking his way you want? Okay, we'll move. Copy. So if you just okay, it brings in a May go. Unless that's a bolt. It's a viewer making connections. You don't actually have to model any kind of bolts off faster. Is there anything you can get on that Master Kay can just bring in, which makes which really speak, think, speeds things up? Okay, it might be Want to put a little Nazi bringing up? I just randomly chose the size of bolts. I can't remember what size it was, but we could You could bringing. You bought that once It saying, once you got this part and it comes in as a component as you'll see so you can do all the things like copying that you could if you had a Baltic connection. So that might be nuts, washer, two washes and a bolt. So once you've created that connection, you commend, just like you do of any component you can so let those for those free components you your bolt, you wash up and you know and create that into a little sub assembly. And then you can duplicate those super some. If you had 10 holes with the same Baltic connection, you could just duplicate copy bolted assembly. Oh, for our Children. Okay, so it makes life so, so much easier. 47. 47 Inserts 03: and as a service raw material. So let's say we want to some steel tube way have all our shapes here because slight round chew and we get always so maybe you want to this which is a crew Molly stuff. So maybe we won't miss. I want time to chew. Okay, We could go product detail when we go to the bottom, so we need to select the length. So let's go. Very go the one foot length and now we get the step file. It is not coming up with this to insert, and it's probably need, in my information to narrow down the actual part in this case, it need to delink. So that's a close. It's not giving you that option. It probably needs more information from you when you got just select save. Okay, I'm never going. It brings in May have got a one foot length. Now we're working millimeters. So generally, if I did this, how I like to work is to you can use press pool amiss, so if we slip up face, we can change it to whatever length we want, but we're gonna be in millimeters, and it's going to ask us for new distance. Well, because this is fate that we import of is a one foot. What I tend to do is make one workout. The millimeters I need to add to ram up into same meter section. So just change it. But you can, you need to do is go inspect measure from face to face. Okay? And it will tell you the length is free. 4.8. So I'm just gonna do a quick 1000 minus free. 04 point eight 695.2. Okay, fine. I was to press promise. Go 695.2. We should So we've got one meets the length of this now I'm well, I would Jim really dio if I'm working with this, you can see this is our piper. It's our component. So every name for 1 31 diame it Something lights again Mrs up to. But I call this one meter. Okay, I'm not going to use that as my default, so I know that. So we'll meet sex. I wouldn't actually use I'm a model. What I would do is I would copy that. Paste it. Okay. I mean, you could imagine your first complaint was a for me toe length. You could just rename this. Just rename this whatever you want. So pipe one. And you know, this is a meter. So if you wanted to form a tow length, it would simply be a case off press pullin free 1000 millimeters. Okay, I'm not would give you You'll form a tow length. So what I would do is cookie that go to your main assembly paste New. Okay, memory name? Not for instance, Piper one. Okay. And now this will be your component you could actually do something with. So it always keep the base of a material. This is just how I tend to do it. If you if you were using, If you're going to use lots of these types of pipe, I'm in. But I'm free, Charles. And okay, if you're going to use lots of these types of pipe to make some kind of frame out of the same same specifications, you could have one of your base. Which news meets along and you could keep copying that a man. Make sure you go to your moon and paste in new versions and each time. You would then be free to create different sizes. Okay, But you would always off this base here, which he knew was one meter, which will make it easier. So you could just copy about at all, minus whatever side you want. Hope that makes it that's going a bit off on a bit of a dungeon. I know I'm supposed to be shown you his McMaster car, but for the raw materials, that's how I tend to do it. Just bringing on a lot of them will have. It depends what you click on the knoll. Just in inches. There are some metric dimensions. Okay, So some things I'm gonna it's run and which ones are which ones? Out. I might struggle to just find one, but a lot of things do come in metric sizes. You don't need to go for the process. 48. 48 Inserts 04: So again, the main page we have all these things hinges. Where was a hinges? Very well. And wow. Okay, so you could bring in a henge, choose one, and then you'll be able to bring that into drawing. And if you look, they are very dates about, but they give you what you need. So you could Then if you were to use this exact component and maybe order it from McMaster car, let's say you were making a box and few wants to hinge. You can bring this in and actually get your whole space so you could set out your whole spacing based on the actual play it was going to build. Okay, so just for starting, you designed just to show you how this would work in action, I'm just gonna create any guy, run them, but of play, just to show you, we're gonna put in a hinge. Okay, so go to insert McMaster car in the hardware injures. I'm not going to be very again. I'm just gonna select random henge here, sites up. So you could say we got this hinge and then we we could join that. So put a joint on a what? This face and corner onto but facing corner I'll do OK, so there you go. So that's how you put your hinge on. Now that's good as this is. It's a bit it doesn't really. It doesn't come with all the joints of revolutions and things that would be a bit too much to ask. From what month? Gap? Stop doing that for all the various different types of software. You have to imagine all these different Freddie. So for you work different in terms of joints. So it would be a massive task from to do about. But you can do it yourself. You've got the bodies here. So joints remember joints only work with components, Miss. That moment is one component. Gave his him so you would have to You'd have to find it in the browser. I mean, look at the body service hinges made up of free body. So you got outside, you got outside and you've got a pin. So what you could do is you could create components from the bodies and make free separate components and then apply your joints and then say that as a service. Um, ok, we've done all that, so I don't need to go for it with us. Yeah, that's why. Don't expect these hinges toe work perfectly when you don't love him. But there. So you could do things like show them. And maybe you wanted to put recess here for the hinged us. It's almost would give you outside. So that's kind of using. For if you want to do any kind of animations are things that you need to do a bit with, But that's McMaster. I hope you appreciate how much work that would save you in terms of modeling all this stuff . Yeah, it's great. Okay. 49. 49 Drawing Sheets 01: Okay. Welcome back. So now we're going to look at how we can output our designs. Okay, On there is, I would say, four main ways you will output your design. So you come up with something that is now you want to share it with the world. So you might be sending it to someone to fabricate, turn it to a manufacturer. Maybe it's someone in the same company and maybe his machine shop downstairs. You've come up with your design. How do you get it to them if you want to just send a mess. But even though that might be able to move about, we're not gonna be very happy. It's not gonna give him much to go on. In terms of manufacture, you would need to create a traditional technical drawing. Okay, so we'll look at that in this first section. So the way you can change, the first thing you do is change your environment. Okay. So appear you'll see it says design. And that's what we've been doing so far. We've been using these commands to design something in the design environment. But now we want to go into the drawing developed environment. Okay? so we can come down here and we could say drying on Mrs from design. So we want to create a drawing from our design. So Okay, so we'll click that and you get this box here, and it's asking you what design you do you want to do it from. So we want our full assembly design here. Um, we could just sort an individual component if we want to The joint of an individual individual component. Okay, we will be doing that as part of its his own. But we want the whole thing. We need to give the fabricated the whole thing so we can make it. Okay, so the drawing we're gonna create and you drawing template. So if you were to go into a company that probably have their own templates set up here, and that would be in terms of the company logo machine Mac, anything. If you find yourself doing a lot, you would save yourself, save you all kind of standard. She out as a template. But this is I'm doing this as you are with a freshly installed version off in confusion. So we're going to go from scratch. The standard service EIS o was sme. Jim Lee. That's the American on B S O way. Use here in Europe books again. This isn't really a draft in engineering course. This is a fusion course. You leave it on. I So I s I mean, if you don't know what I mean, you probably don't need to know what it means. Service units. So do you like to work in inches on millimeters again? It's a preference usually between the guys in America who use inches on European measurement units, which is generally millimeters. So I'm gonna leave this in millimeters because we do doubt designing millimeters on the sides of a shape. Now, years ago, when I started drafting 24 years ago, we all did everything on large sheets. So a one and a zero on these were big, cumbersome sheets that you're a foldable roll up. I'm quite sure why. I think it was a throwback from a drafting days where you will be on the drawing board. No. So I would be certainly drawing board with pens. Not on. There was nothing like this around in them days you'll be using pens, and if you made a mistake. That's when you always remember the benefits of CAD when you got an undo button. Because in the old days, if you made a mistake with pen, you have to get a blade and scratch it all out. So we used to use a zero and a one. Generally is a for Roebuck from when we was on a joint. Bought the big sheet. Nowadays, it tends to bay a free and a four. Um, why buy a large scale plotter when you can just use a normal A free prints? Coughing? That's what's driving most of it. And so we're just gonna slipped a free here. Andi, I'm gonna okay and you'll see it. Everything changes. So fusion has taken us into a whole different environment. Now the drawing environment on all our commander different. Okay, we have a sheet here, but it's put on which is kind of effusion default, and it's almost like we're in a different place itself, for everything is different. Well, that's because fusion has these different environments. It's the same, really. It's just different commands that you might need. You don't need any of the old commands now because we're not modeling we need a whole new set of commands. So first thing is going to ask us. And if you see it highlighted here, it's asking for the base view. So this means, OK, what you want to do a drawing of your assembly, But which view d want is your main view. Okay. And again, we got some options here, so it's given us a kind of a preview of what it would look like you could see straight away . This is gonna be too small to conduct to convey any kind of information to anyone. And that's because our scale it's set to 1 to 5 now model on a free sheet. It's not that big in real life, really is only a little vice or I may appreciate, doesn't need to be 1 to 5. I'm gonna see what actual size looks like, which is 1 to 1. Well, this view is quite good, but we're gonna get a few views on here, so it's probably too much. So let's go toe wanted to. That's probably about right. Okay. And I'm gonna put this view we're gonna put in the top left. I'm just gonna left click. But before I do, I'll save the other options here. So if you remember when we designed this, we set one face to the front. Well, we could choose any face we want here, and it will show us a preview we could have so we could have kind of dazed isometric faces . Good one. But we'll get a, um, Freedy view live up. But generally, your first visit is the option for your base view. So you're basically wants to be a something like top off from okay as the base view. And I'm going to use this one, and I'm going to the stale. Okay, We have a style here. So visible edges, hidden edge is shared. It is best if I just put the same. And I'll show you those after. So I'm going to Okay, but and you'll see it puts it into it, puts it in and just a simple line drawing. And that was a stale Okay, if I right click up, I could go to what it do. And I can change this down now so I can slit hidden edges and you'll see what that does it put soon the edges. Uh, actually hidden, but it shows him is dashed just so you can see the representation. We have the shaded view which closet, and so we have our blue metal on our kind of chrome handle. So it's made right colored. And then we have both so shaded Andi hittin urges. So that conveys the most detail. The shaded view can be a bit. What? I'll tell you what I like to do for these views. I like to leave him as the hidden edge views. Okay, so just this non shared review now that is our base view supplies all first view. We want to view it from a few different angles. So what we do now is we go to the next one long, which is projected view, and if we click out them, it's asking which view we want to project. So we just click our base view, and now, without holding any button down, you can see if we move to this side. It projects the view of outside. But if we move to the other side, it will project, Uh, and if we move up, we will be looking from below. And if we move down, will be looking from above And also we could go diagonally and get these free d view. So we conducted these views out. So what? I'd like stories, maybe Take that view a man a top view. Andi Freedy View I'm gonna right click when they click. Ok, so now we have our fall main views to create this assembly. Okay. And what I like to do officiating. I like to just have Afridi view as the shaded without ahead tonight. So this is kind of like a riel, So these will convey the information you need in terms of dimensions of things. But then this will be like a snatch off how that will look, which is always good. Okay, so there That's how you sell pure main views. Now, one thing about this we don't If we just sent this to fabricate who will say Well, okay. This this joint shows me how to put the pieces together. But you've got 1234 pieces here. I need details of how these pieces are made individually. Okay, I'm not servicemen. You would come in 50. 50 Drawing Sheets 02: So have a moment, all four of our components at Ticked. But if we let's say this was just our drawing of how to fabricate this vice body. So we'll untech everything except the vice body. And now you can see this is what this is more of a fabrication drawing for that actual piece. And that's exactly what we want. Okay, so now we need to start labeling up. It's still only a picture if you like. So first thing I like to do is put on the dimensions so you can see here we have this dimension, okay? And if you pull this down, you can have different types of dimensions. So angular dimension, linear dimension, angle. But when we have one, but which is just dimension. Well, this is kind of a it does all of them, really. But it tries to guess. Sometimes there might be times you need to specify if it's not giving you what you want, but generally this is quite good. You can just click on that damage. Let's use our well, let's zoom in on this view here, so the dimensions would need to make this, uh, we could highlight line you'll see it comes up. And if you left click on the line, But it gives you the dimension. And now you can just left click game to drop it. Okay, Quit line. Left, clip to drop. What I'm gonna do is I'm gonna click a line and he said of dropping it, I'm gonna click another line, and it allows us to do a dimension between two lines. Okay, Now, maybe some just people. They're saying you do not dimension to a dotted line. I know again, Mrs. In an engineering, um, costs. It's a fusion call. So there you go. Uh, a circle. If you just quit the circle, you're gonna get his diameter rollout. Okay on. I think that would be enough dimensions American, and move to another on we can go here. You can go. Uh, you wouldn't need this because you've got the overall and you've got these two. So you don't want to put on more dimensions when you actually need. Okay? Actually, we need to put way do anymore on here. We need to put in where this whole is in terms of face. So we'll put those two on. Now if you want to move it. I mentioned after you've put it on, and I like to drug my damages outside of the actual component, you could just left quickly, dimension. And you get these grips so you can you can move things. About what? That. Okay. Andi again, please don't e mail may saying you call yourself an engineer. You haven't done any tolerances and things that this isn't engineering costs. So let's put on diamond. She's just roughly so the ones you might need so you can learn how to do it, Dimension, they go on. And now you might need some labels so you can have text and you have leader text. Okay, so the detects would pay something like you might tell the Okay, I'll ask you for a night so we'll use our edge. And now it lost you for a bit attack. So we might put here. I'm just gonna can't remember what Fred we use. But you would actually specify the engineering, Fred, and we pitch a lot stuff. But I'm just going right for a little. You can write what you OK? It gives you the idea. So that's how you do. Lead a text, but each of these would want to title secret just quick. Normal text. Just text. Okay. You could just get come up with a normal textbooks, so you might right side view here on underlying it. Okay, they go. So again, sex front view close, and you get the idea. Okay. Symbols. Well, a few different symbols. You might want surface texture, that kind of thing again. A lot of these command, if you know what they are. If you're coming from my kind of background and their obvious what they would do if you don't know what we are, you probably don't need to know. Geometry surveys of things like your sense lines. And you sent a mac so generally a circle like whole. You put some kind of center, Mac, and you can just click it. And it does that, um you might want centerline in the plum view of the whole seeking quick two lines and it put line in the center. Do it again here. Okay, So move rotated. We were stuck actual view. So you could you could you could move it around on the sheet if you want it detailed view. So maybe we was looking at. Actually, this whole we need toe put a lot of information and we haven't really got room where you could do a detail. You'll see these on joins. It's like a zoomed in section. Okay, so let's do a detail of this. So we slept apparent view, which is this one. And we get this box here. So our detail let's just draw a circle around our detail and it is going to put this here. Okay, now I'm just going, Okay, This sometimes you need to move this around to get a correct for you after, so you'll see as I move this detail view, what is in Miss View changes. So I want the circle. So now we get a circle. We can edit this view and we can say, OK, shaded or it's hit and edges whatever. But now it's going to you see, it's put in a there. So this is saying this is detail a on, but it's put on this. It's like, Okay, okay. And it's good, and you can change the scale. Some of vessels want to fuck. You could do so That was actual scale. So that's detail of this whole. Okay? I believe if you do it that because even the detail goes as well, they have sections again. If you know what these are, it's pretty self explanatory. What to do? You could create a sketch on here so you could just create What if you wanted to create a little sketch? Just convey something when you could dio again. When dimensions you You've got things like, if you were to If you wanted an angular dimension, you could just click two lines and it will give you the angle. Okay. Um, yeah. So for this, this would be our vice body. 51. 51 Drawing Sheets 03: and you would probably have a lot of text on here somewhere, which would be your notes, which would kind of convey all sorts I miss would say all sorts of things about what it's made off intolerances and things like you have seen those. If you weren't, we've joined. So here is your title block Double click. And you can edit this so you could say vice more doing details, OK, you could say who drew it. What date? Who approved it? Your drawing numbers in again, Mrs. If you're in a company, this will probably all be standard. You have standard joined numbering systems and all sorts of things, and that is all, Vice put it. So now you need to do it for your components, and you can create another sheet down here with this. Plus Okay, okay. So when you have to do another base view, Andi, the representation on this one would again, we wanted to Okay, And this might be your slide. So this is just a slide here. So you could project that, um, for something lies you probably off. Now, you'd be thinking welcome for everything else on here so you could have another base for you. Okay. Andi will say you get a new menu Freaks view. So this might be the rot, for instance. Okay. How many words? Free, Dave. You okay, man? You set another base view. Yeah, I may be in Memphis of it May s actual size. This will be the pin. I have a pain because it's set in a model to be at an angle. It looks a bit strange, but when you can modify so you can routes like this, I'm in project, okay? And you would do all the same kind of dimensions. And here you might do your view because it's got a Fred. You would probably do this as shade it So you can put I mention off the actual Fred, You know, if your length from things you do and you you'd make up drawing look closer is full of the same kind of standard and then for an assembly drawing again, do similar do a similar set up here. It's all 1st 1 Okay. Going to make this shaded? I'm not gonna put over text images on the damage you have on this one. Actually would be anything for the assembly. So where they sit together? In this case, probably think of any admit. Um, but maybe if you wanted to show how far in Miss Sap within that whole you could pull up distance, that kind of thing. But what's it? Won't be important. Here is which part was which. Okay, So who you could put a table on? I'm going to run out of space here, So But what I'm gonna do is I'm going to I'm just going to wait out here just so you can see So you'll see I input the table and it automatically filled it in. And it's put these balloons on their if you don't like where it's put them. If it's interfering with something else, you click it on. Everything is inevitable. Okay? Everything is irritable. Maybe you want a verb Loans. On this view, you can click here below. And if you click an object so it's automatically given that number one Well, that's because I clicked on the body. If I was to click on this brought here, it will give it number free, which is wrong. It's so intelligent, it actually knows what you're clicking on. OK, and you can do that in any of you on this table here. It's filled in for part numbers. Given the file. Name the material. Remember, we actually assigned physical materials, so it's dumb, not faras. It's filled in for US description. So if you double click this, make sure it's highlighted in double click, you can sweat which columns are included. So give it a name. Maybe you didn't want a number. You just wanted to part names he could do about Okay, Mass? Well, because we gave it physical material, rather just appearance material. It's actually knows the mass off that object because it knows the dimensions of it, and it knows what it's made off. So, hey, we get into the kind of power of fusion. Mr. Always is all pulled in from me kind of information starting the file. So the name is a file name and description would be a description that saved within that in the properties of that model. Okay, I'm not sure she and again you would fill in all the things like you join them, but we don't need to go into all that. I'm not trying toe purposely but up this course, I'm trying to make it as concise as possible and may go, That's giving you the tools here. So you know how to do it. You can certainly reach as well. So I could insert a logo. Uh, okay. And then I can just just it. It's normal. I'm not. That will be your drawing. So when you can output, you can output this. Now, as a PdF, you could output to Delia very G, so you could send it to auto card, which cut. Guys were like the excess, which was a consistent you cannot put too seriously. Now, see, SV would be a table. So if we went back to this view, it would ask us for this table. Okay, We could output that and send it to an Excel or Google Sheets. Someone could use that in excelsis. Good import straight. So again, very powerful in terms of working with other people to just print it output to a pdf intended to Princeton. Okay, about that would, But you're drawing sheets. That's how you do. All this stuff, I tell you, can communicate your design as a technical drawing 52. 52 Image Render 01: Okay, so let's look at our other methods of output here. Andi, I'm gonna surface output here. Okay? So Okay, so let's look at our of the methods of output here. So we're now drawing shapes, environment and where we're under this kind of entitled you see, we got it's opened up a new tab here for this. So this is our model appear under this top? It's still there, and this is our kind of drawing sheet. So we can say FIS vice middle drawing save and you'll see it change it to vice model joint . So we advice model, which is a model. And now we have vice model joint and that saves of a sheet is saved. Okay, So if we go out to all model, let's look it. Three of us output options, Generative design is something advanced. It's not really gonna be part of its costs. It's something probably doing it. Maybe not, cause it's alright, some kind of shop Adam for it later on. But what it is it's allows you to create designs that fit. So let's suppose we have this vice model and we didn't have this. It would have allowed us to create this based on our existing model. I appreciate that. Sounds really complicated. If you have some components and you need to design a frame around those compose, it will help you do that. So if you give it the requirements it needs to fix to these pieces, it needs to do this. It needs to do that when fusion can actually come up with parts for you. Um, again, that's getting advanced. So the next output, we're gonna look at his Orender. Okay, so let's click on Brenda now. This is where you've done your model, and you want to show someone how it's gonna look. You want to put it on the Facebook page or you want to send it out, putting your glossy brochure. You haven't actually made it yet, but you know, it's gonna look so you can dio a render off it, OK? We've already given it the materials, so we just need to set up our scene. So let's look at the options we've got here. We've got a parents. Okay, so we're gonna apply this to the bodies components? Yes. Now we've already assigned materials, so we don't need to assign over materials. But if you had him, if there was some parts that hadn't yet been assigned materials, this is where you could do it in your You don't need to go back to model. You could do it here. And you could see we've got all our same material set folders here with our materials and okay, so we don't leave out with this. Already assigned materials to this and those properties air in there. So let's set our scene. Okay, So what do we want? We've got our environment. So how bright you want the environment today Could be completely washed out like that. Or it can be lights off. Like so how it waas. I think it was somewhere around there. OK, The background. What do you want him about? Ground. You can see at the moment we've got his gray. Yeah, um, we can choose an environment. Okay. And now we've chosen environment. It looks like not much has happened, but we've got We could go to stop and weaken, select an environment. Okay. From fusion 3 60 So cool Light environment labor. Okay. Must give us us here. Let's try it out. Ground plane. So the ground plan is you can see the shadow has been cast onto the floor. So this but it's sat on the floor. If we turn ground plane off, there is no floor of it. This part is hovering in here, okay? And because we put the environment on you, conceive us some stuff in the background. But this part is hovering in mid a Let's turn ground plane back on. Just still get those nice shadows, flats and ground. Okay, so girls flood anyway. Door reflections. When I turned on, hopefully you could see the floor became shining. You can see this kind of reflection. Myllys. We can change these settings here. Roughness. So how kind of hazy or shop you're not? Reflection to bay camera. So you get into kind of rial image settings here that people who were into photography and things would need exposure and focal length, that kind of thing. Debt for field. OK, for that you need ray trace and retrace. And if you don't know, it's a type of rendering aspect ratio so you could have it widescreen Mrs Fully actual. How you going to say that out? I'm not depend on I suppose what? You were out putting it too. Okay, so you've easily all render settings, So I'm gonna close that Deco. Um well, we already did killing it. Okay, so we've got that texture map. OK, text him up. Controls slept are objects. So this is if any of you coming from a freely max or anything like back and you know what this is? It will appear quite simple. Teoh infusion the texture Mapping isn't that advanced? Really? But for what it is, it's quite good. It's basically saying is a way of Imagine if you had a text John hair. So if it was made out of brick, you would have the bricks and you have a mortar in between. It was made out off. Um, a textured surface, something like would that you might have a wood grain, and it might have up bumping us on it that it was showing Mrs how that's projected. Okay, so it is. This is quite advanced stuff on again. It is. It's not really We don't want to get in hours and hours interviews because most of you won't need to change it. A lot of this stuff you just make it look good, basically, and if using the materials are in building it infusion, then a lot of it is taken care of. So let's go to this. Incumbents render. Let's quit on. What? That's basically during these. It's showing us a preview in our campus. So in our editing area now my computer is fairly good, but it's still gonna take a while. If you've quit this and you computer seems to have died or it's making all sorts of strange noises, then I don't know what to say. It's down to the speed of your computer, really. 53. 53 Image Render 02: so Okay, so income is when I'm not gonna press. What this will do is it will render this out now, and it will. My computer will start making all sorts of noises. It's quite power hungry rendering. But you can render out as the image where it saves it is a file. Or you can render here, Where is? Which kind of does it in in the design in the current view. Okay, so let's look our settings first. We've got advanced settings. We got fast. Okay, So fast is materials and lighting are simplified, and we have advanced, so it's just to go too fast. Okay, So if we click on incumbents render now, it's gonna do Render this in the campus, Which means in this design view is not gonna out put it to a separate file. Um, before we don't want to show you still go off in Maine folder options. You can still turn things on enough if you want. Okay. At the moment, we've got the whole model, but we could maybe would you just want to render the actual body so we could just activate that. Okay. And that would render out. But just the body. Now it's showing it hasn't disappeared because we're not rendering. So rendering is a separate process which will do now. And if if we click in canvas, render it will render it in this view. So let me click it and see what happens. You can see stars processing my image, and it's making kind of a photo realistic image of our object. Um, with perhaps, perhaps should have put this environment on you. Consider this what this is is our environment reflected in that reflective surface we made okay, Felt Let me store. So if I stop now, if I go back here, let's go back to our environment. Such I'm going to I'm just gonna go solid color instead of environment on the background I'm gonna make I mean, it's good. I'm gonna doctor do a white background, um, brightness. I hoped I ground playing go reflections. Okay, so let's try and do this. Render now. Okay. So let's go to a nice view here and let's do this. Render Now you could say it is just surrendering. Is just making it look a bit more photo, Riel. It is very resource hungry. A new computer. So this is going What happened when you press that button is going to depend on speed of your compute? If you're If it came up straight away a lot quicker than mine, then congratulations. You've got a better computer. And I have If you compute to start making strange noises, then maybe it's not as good as it went. Bang, Don't Blind may. Okay, but last rendering and it's still going. I'm gonna suppose this I'm gonna stop. I'm gonna go click on render on regular render settings because what render usually does his render out was a separate file. A separate image. Okay, Now, fusion lets you render Remember nothing you saved on your machine. So this is this is in the cloud, which is on auto desk service. You can choose to render on your machine all of rendering the cloud render on the cloud. Okay, let's just look at this. It's going to tell you how many credits you need. So also, desk kind of comes with someone he credits, and it allows you to use those critics or buy more credits. Okay, if you use their kind off rendered. So let's put it on local for now, so it doesn't cost us anything. Um, And again, I'm just gonna go. You cannot video if you're making an animation. So Well, look, if you can have video renders, you can have a print move out web. Okay, so let's see what happens with Chris printed. Okay, so it's finished this. So let's click it another look. America is so as renders go it's not, but it could be a lot better. And it would be a lot better if you change the settings and spent a lot of time messing with the settings on down model as well. We'd probably have kind of Philip Nice. Philip had rounded edges on him things, but yeah, it would also be a 50 hour cost, so we don't want nobody got surrender. So render is used to create these photo realistic images that you would show off your latest design with 54. 54 Animation : So the next output is animation. And you would use this if you wanted to create a nice video to show someone a bit like the render. If you wanted to put it into Facebook, you wanted to send it someone. Maybe you just want to show someone how it would move or just a quick representation of medicines, A solution to a problem you could. Seven. A little video. Andi. Show how your design actually works, or may. It doesn't even need to be immovable designed to do this. You could just Maybe he wanted to show it from different views so you could have a single part. But rotate the camera around it and then send someone That is quite handy thing to do. So we're gonna look at all here. So this is just kind of story about down here, and it's a very basic video editor. So if you've done any video editing, it look familiar. If not, don't worry. It's very, very simple. So the thing to remember about this is its animation environment. Anything you change here is not changing your design. If you move things about, all you're doing is changing how it's gonna move on a video. You're not changing your design in any way, so don't worry about but how it how it starts will be driven by your design. Okay, so in this case, our vices kind of half open, half shut. I want it to be fully retracted. So I'm gonna go back to design. I'm gonna grow up my vice, and I'm gonna put it, okay? So when I go back to animation now, we've got no starting point on our animation. Wants to show this vise closing, and obviously, as it closes, this moves. OK, now your joints that you doing your design have already set up a joint so that when Miss Peace moves this rotates, put the animation, it doesn't You need to drive that kind of separate in the animation. Okay, but it is very simple, and we'll do about now. So this here is a play head. So this is at a certain time, and you can see where it We've already actually recorded something when I zoom Didn't have recorded me zooming in. Okay. We'll go back to zero on. I'm gonna right click and deliver. Okay. Okay. So to animate this we need to add actions to the timeline. And one thing need to remember is this. This will move independently to how you set up your joints in your design. So we know what design. When we move this, the rod turns. It's old joined to do that, you know, a design. But in our animation it is It's kind of separate. Um, those things don't happen at the same time. You need to settle everything you want to happen. You need to specify again. OK, so I'm a reason for that is because, you know, actually changing your design, the animation design, you need to think it was totally separate things. What you do here when you move things here, it's not happening. It's not fit in your design. All. Okay, so we're going to sell. We're going to go to transform components. First, I'm going to click on this. Just this slider here, Okay? Now, I'm gonna I'm gonna fast forward to five. Let's go. Five seconds, OK? Just roughly. Just roughly. And I'm gonna push this to find, and I'm gonna press, okay? And you'll see it puts on this component here. Okay, Now, one thing that can happen. Just fist view. Sometimes it's set to one line. That means it's recording your view. So if you were to zoom in and out, you'll see at the beauty your timeline. So pull out on Paul's. And if you've got any of you here just right click and dilated. Okay, so So what we've done. We've got this slider here. This is our animation. And we've told it. We talked about this component here over these five seconds or so, it will move forward to the end. Okay, These two will do separately because they're going to rotate as well as move. So let's go to the start, and then we'll do another transform. Well, slept with pen. She slept a road, okay. And now of the same period of time, this is going to move forward as well. Okay, So the way I like to do is not to try and put inaccurate distances, um, dimensions in times of things, they just get something in the timeline, and then you connect it and make it all fit afterwards. Okay, so we know it roughly moves in that direction, and we've got rotation here as well, so I'm gonna go split transforms because we've got a separate thing going on. We're going to put a rotation, and I'm just gonna again I'm just gonna put a rotation of a certain random degree. But just so we can change it, OK, and I'm gonna press. OK, right. So now you'll see what's happened. We've got a move for the pain and the rod and we got this rotation is not going to look right amount because of rotations happening after. Okay, so that's correct. We're all moving together the same amount, but when it's rotating, So this is what about just getting your actions onto the timeline? Because now all you need to do if you move the slider. If you go to the end of her, you can click and drag, so the rotation will happen at the same time. Okay. And if you want to what it is, you can right click at it. Action. We can see that this slider hair was set to move minus 90. Next distance of us Slover A. Now you'll safe. We go to the stop. Okay, so this animation now it will all move together. We've got the rotation and we've got the movement. Okay, Okay. So play this and we can test it. Okay, so that's animation. I mean, it's not It's not perfect in terms of animation. That and so definitely that. Why should turn way, Marvin. It is, for that matter, Boudin device. It would be spinning around a lot faster, but you can change all that. Massetti just change a number of degrees. It's turning per action, which was shown. You do so anyway, that will do for the purpose of this demonstration. So now what we do is we publish it and you can so you can publish which storyboard. We've only got one story about that sits down here. It's safe down here on. We'll just gonna Let's just save the upset in Jazirah. Okay? It's gonna ask us where we want to save it. So it's my computer. I'm going quick. Safe. We'll see how this comes up. So then it will go through and it will publish your video. Okay, Now I'll show a video plane. Okay, I'm not so imagine. And that's Ah, video file. So you can send up to someone now some of your design, but on Facebook, whatever you want to do with us animation 55. 55 3D Printing: So what I'm going to do now is I'm going to I'm going to go to a data panel where we can see our items. If you don't see this click on home, you'll get all these weak and import the standard samples and things. And it should be one fusion mastery most. It's basically where you're fusion names things automatically where gets financial. It's basically off your items. So these are the items we've done. And let's if we go to our the vice model we did on mines Copper, me animation burning so you could just go back to design. Here we have our vice. Okay, so I'm going to go down. I'm gonna slit now. I'm going to slit manufacture. So if usually is made for people to you manufacturer parts in things like sea and sea, a 1,000,000 machine optimism middle machine, the free D printing, that kind of thing and this manufacture. This is where you get all those options. So milling turning. And this is where you can set all your profiles. Okay. This course really about money of your gonna CNC and big milling machines at home. So I'm not gonna go too much into that. But this is where you would get it from. If you're in my industry, then you'll know what all this is about. Really? For millions. Okay, how you could slept raise again. It's a bit advance this course, but what I am going to look up is free D printing, which comes on the best additive. Okay, that's away freely. Printings know you're adding material basically, so it comes in the additive. So let's look at this. If you wanted to freely print this now, so we just need to let's look at the set up first time. We're just going to set up some of our options here. So machine well, this is basically a free D printer. You can save your freely printing machine in here. I use a free pro. It's a very common machine. Reagan Machine. So So what? Right. And you'll say it's already started toward some actual settings here, and you can have it always prints tattoos again. This isn't Afridi printing course I'm showing you how to get your models out was an STL, Really? I mean, that's you. Probably if you enter freely printed, you'll know how Teoh sdo into your slice and software. So that's a set up. Okay, so you slept the model, and I'm just gonna when a freely print the base members is made of different components, I'm gonna choose the base. I'm gonna Okay, but you'll see what it will do is it will show our item on the base. Okay, Now we can so enough you hear this just to make it a bit clearer. Now, we could slip position. So we have place parts on platform build height on, move. So for this, you would want to print it. We avoid around, for instance, he can rotate it again. All this is available in your slicer. A lot of people would choose to do this kind of thing in their slicing software, so you don't have to position it here. You can put it on your bed. So now it's It's a number, but select your print settings now again. How most people will be taking it out off here into their slice and software. So how how many of the princess's you want to change in here and how many you want to leave for your slices up to you? Things like your influence. A pause. It's I don't print direct from fusion to my printer. I go through my slice and software. So for me, it's all about getting my STL file of my designs. Okay, so here we go. Actions export free month. So this now what? What's happening? This is kind of working as your slice and software. Most people like to just get their model. That was an STL file on menus slicing software to do a lot of this stuff. And so this additive, this section here on the additive is if you want to set up two son straight to machine. And this is where you would be this way you would do all that for May I prefer to do it a simpler way. So in my design file, I would go to tools and make okay and you'll see you got free d print. There was a tick box here sent Afridi print utility of us kind of Senate tea princess. So you own tick up. OK, select a component on. I like to put it on high. You have got a few options that you click OK, and you'll see straight way you get s still okay, So you can now send out. I say that as an STL file and you can open that in cure or whatever slicer you use again freely if you're interpreting, putting, you know where to take up from. But that's the easy way to second to freely print. Okay, baby again, we ever want the manufacture. This is if you're going to workplace and may 7 stuff down to a workshop to their big CNC machines or industrial three D printers. You might use this, Jim Really? For home hobby use when you've got a freely printed you've got slicing software which you fully affair with and you know how to use Stick with the easy way, which is make Freedy print You go there is even a second here. You could if you get quotes from people, these companies who will Freedy print things for you it to you where we set out what easiest fingers to just get yourself an STL file and then find someone to print that if you can't print it yourself. Okay, so that's three D printed under this tools menu. There is some things that will do the analysis. Remember when we gave think material physical properties. This is where you do kind of again. Not very advanced. I will do separate, um sections on this kind of stuff. This beginners cost, not sit. Really? OK, you don't need to know what? 56. 56 Summing Up: Okay, so I'm gonna call into this beginnings Cost. Now, we've learned so much on here, but still things we haven't learned. Okay, But in my opinion, you don't need those to get good with fusion. Once you have put in practice the things we've learned in his cost, you can create most objects I knew then it's only when you come up against things where you find it difficult. You might want to branch out into other areas. Service things, like is far modeling. If you do a lot of organic shapes and curves surfaces you're gonna want to get into for mumbling, I'll do some separate do tires on that because it's not something everyone needs to know. There's also, um, things like sheet metal. Okay, so sheet metal souls, if you work in a sheet metal fusion is very good. It makes it so easy. You don't need to be doing the extrusion is that we've done. If you're going to, if you got a machine that's gonna create something out of a folded single sheet, it will actually create that unfolded again. That's compared to a separate section on that separate costs on my mini costs. surface modelling similar thing if you doing organic surface is curved surfaces, vehicles, that kind of thing, you might use surface modelling. So all those are going to come in a separate kind of many courses. But for now, you've learned the basics or more than the basics of fusion. You don't. Most things we've gone right into creating animations, which is a lot of courses wouldn't teach. You have the ability now to take most objects. You can see and create a model. I'm free. Maybe Freedy print that will send out to be manufactured. Okay, you can. If you have an idea in your head of an invention of something, you can put that down and you can make it move in an animation. You can send it out and make a video. This course is covered a lot like all these this software. When you first start learning it, the limitation really comes from your imagination. It takes a while to build up that modeling mind Freedy model in mind. If you come in from other software, you might already have and you just wanted to know how to use fusion. So now you've got what you need. You'll have enough confidence now to be able to even things we haven't gone through right. Click and see what it does because you know how the browser works on the history of that kind of thing. But if you knew to freedom, mumbling, my advice now would be to look around you in your home, are in your office and just look at random objects and stop thinking, right? How could I make? But I'm free day and you'll quickly find, But most things could be broken down into cylinders in cubes and just fill. It'd veggies around, and you can actually come up with quite complex looking objects. Fairly easy. But for everyone, I teach free T mobile until I always say, Look around you and start modeling objects and don't pick easy ones. Don't just pick something because it's basically a cube or a cylinder. Push yourself as you go. You know, I'm looking out my door. Humble is a cylinder on cube on, maybe a sweep for the actual handle, and you could model that fairly easily. My free D printers are all made up of frames and parts I could get from McMaster car on cylinders and I could model up. For instance, there's a fan, which is which will be a challenging thing for the actual blood, but it is all doable because it's just a revolved Onda battle. So start doing that. Start looking around a modeling. The worst thing you can do when you own any cuts software is to learn it and then not use it for a while because you need to embed and solidify the techniques into your mind. So, yeah, just for the next a few days, weeks I'll just create when you get some spare time. Just look at random objects around you, on your desk or in your home, or things you actually need modelling and just start modeling them. And if you run into any trouble, get in touch, we're gonna have our own website and community, which were building fairly fast. Now it's all in the process of being constructed. Andi. We hope to have a big community at some point with their phone Freedy, where people can help each other out as well as I'll be on there as much as I can on helping others out. Like I said, I'm gonna rip releasing many courses, skill builder courses, going more into detail of specific aspects that will be available on our website when it's up and running. And they'd be great to see you there on the Great Sea involved in the community. So I hope you enjoyed the costs. If you did, please leave us a review. Ill helps get the word out about this. Andi, if you want to do any of our other causes, have a look. What we have available, whether it's arto cat inventor inventor, would be the next step up from fusion. If you were going to get more serious, it works more or less the same way with just a few fundamental changes. But it isn't for Avery. This is kind of your industry software. If you get good infusion, you will feel like you want to do is for career. It might be worth doing the inventor course just to see the different to see, and you could probably if you were good at fusion, you would easily be able to transfer to inventor Once you learn those fundamental differences and you be able to put up, it's not looking for work because If you're good on fusion Yuri's, they're gonna be able to do an invented. So there we go. Having joined the cast, please leave a review. Andi, I hope to see you again.
