Project Description

Photograph a dramatic portrait of a person that interests you.

ASSIGNMENT

Photograph a dramatic portrait for someone you find interesting. Use high contrast, shadows, and thoughtful mood to convey drama. It's up to you whether you'll shoot using a DSLR or iPhone. You're also welcome to make final touches in Adobe Lightroom, just like in the lessons. This project gives you the opportunity to play with light to take emotional and dramatic portraits that both you and your subject will love. It's perfect for expanding your portfolio and experimenting with a new style.

DELIVERABLE

Photograph a portrait that uses light to convey drama. You're welcome to share just one dramatic portrait that captures the experience, or a wider range from the shoot. If you'd like to show your full process, a complete project will include:

  • brief introduction to you and the subject
  • 3 shots testing exposure (overexposed, underexposed, and balanced
  • 2 shots contrasting composition (horizontal and vertical)
  • 1-3+ final favorite shots (unedited or edited)
